The exchange between Peeta and Gale in Tigris's basement used to be my least favorite scene in the entire book. I hated how it made Katniss out to be a heartless drone whose only motivation is survival. But I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I'm now convinced I grossly misinterpreted the purpose of the passage the first times I read it. I don't think it's about Gale revealing some sage wisdom about Katniss; I think it's a revelation about how far gone Katniss and Gale's relationship truly is, and how little he understands the way she loves. AND it's about how much better Peeta understands Katniss, even in his half-hijacked state. Let me break it apart a tad to explain what I mean:
“She loves you, you know,” says Peeta. “She as good as told me after they whipped you.”
Peeta is correct on both counts. Katniss DOES love Gale, and in CF, she internally refers back to the whipping as the moment she "chose" Gale over Peeta. Peeta knew it then, and he knows it now.
“Don’t believe it,” Gale answers. “The way she kissed you in the Quarter Quell... well, she never kissed me like that.”
Correct, but it's interesting that Gale refers to THAT moment on the beach as proof that Katniss loves Peeta. Because on one hand, that WAS the first time she felt and displayed sexual desire for anyone. But on the other hand, I would argue that there was lots more evidence for Katniss's love for Peeta; "anyone paying attention" could see it. So why does Gale point to the one time things got hot and heavy between them?
“It was just part of the show,” Peeta tells him, although there’s an edge of doubt in his voice.
Incorrect, but I'll give him half credit for the "edge of doubt" in his voice.
“No, you won her over. Gave up everything for her. Maybe that’s the only way to convince her you love her.”
Here's where Gale starts talking kinda crazy. Since when has the issue been convincing KATNISS that HE (or Peeta) loved HER? Since the end of book 1, there has never been the slightest doubt in Katniss's mind that Peeta loved her. And she's never doubted Gale's love, although she admits it caught her off guard. Does Gale actually think that if Katniss could just SEE how much he loves her, she'd have no choice but to marry him? Or does he think Katniss is holding back because he hasn't "given up everything" for her? Either way, he paints Katniss as a fundamentally untrusting and self-centered person.
Also, he implies that Katniss needs to be "won over", that she needs to be PERSUADED to love either of them... Yikes. It's like he actually believes Katniss doesn't have the emotional capabilities of falling in love all on her own.
There’s a long pause. “I should have volunteered to take your place in the first Games. Protected her then.”
Incorrect! Over to Peeta for an explanation of why that would have been a Colossally Stupid idea:
“You couldn’t,” says Peeta. “She’d never have forgiven you. You had to take care of her family. They matter more to her than her life.”
DING DING DING DING! I just picture Peeta making a ????????no??? face as Gale says he should have volunteered for him. Like?? Can you IMAGINE? Book 1 Katniss would have been screaming at Gale like "you absolute IDIOT. WHY would you throw your life and the lives of your and/or my family away. And for WHAT? MORON."
But I get it. Gale is saying this out of desperation. Because he can't say "I wish you had died in those games" (although perhaps that is how he's felt once or twice). And to be fair, if Peeta had never been in those games with Katniss, things between them now would be very... different. (shhhhh Gale doesn't have to know about the whole "this would've happened anyway" thing)
“Well, it won’t be an issue much longer. I think it’s unlikely all three of us will be alive at the end of the war. And if we are, I guess it’s Katniss’s problem. Who to choose.” Gale yawns. “We should get some sleep.”
Correct, nothing to object to here.
“Yeah.” I hear Peeta’s handcuffs slide down the support as he settles in. “I wonder how she’ll make up her mind.”
Even though Peeta is more in sync with Katniss, he doesn't presume to know how her romantic side works. Gotta respect that.
“Oh, that I do know.” I can just catch Gale’s last words through the layer of fur. “Katniss will pick whoever she thinks she can’t survive without.”
So I ask: if Gale is shown throughout this exchange to be mostly wrong about Katniss's motivations, desires, and possibly her whole personality, why would we believe he's correct about this?? I think the only conclusion is that he's NOT.
I'll end by adding Katniss's opinion about Gale's assertion:
It’s a horrible thing for Gale to say, for Peeta not to refute. Especially when every emotion I have has been taken and exploited by the Capitol or the rebels.
Katniss is DEEPLY hurt by what Gale said. And I no longer believe it's because it's the truth about HER. I think it's because it's the truth about how Gale sees her, and he sees her in a very hurtful (albeit incorrect) way.

Coriolanus Snow x Plinth! Reader
warnings: smut, masturbation (m), coriolanus snow being horny for like no reason. reader is just existing and coriolanus is like “oh no my dick is hard”
summary: coriolanus and reader have been assigned to work on a project together. coriolanus can’t seem to focus on the assignment though.
It all started when Professor Satryia had assigned partners for the latest project. It was a study on the old cities of North America and how the function of these cities may have occurred. It was an assignment that would take a lot of research and dedication to figure out as there are little to no remnants of what North America used to be. Now it’s just Panem. Everything anyone knew were simply in textbooks or regular books.
When Coriolanus had been assigned as your partner for the project, he couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed. This assignment would determine a large portion of his grade and of course, he had to be given someone who wasn’t even from the Capitol. At the same time, however, he relished in the fact that you came from money. And getting close to you may be a step to getting closer to the things he wanted out of life. So really, how bad is it?
You two had begun your assignment in the library. You had taken out many books, reading through them and taking notes. Coriolanus had done the same. You guys didn’t talk too much, not ever really being that close. Coriolanus was closer to Sejanus than he was to you, of course.
You and Coriolanus sat next to each other, working separately. And yet, Coriolanus couldn’t focus. He didn’t know why. All he could smell was the floral smell of your perfume, it intoxicated him. And with each breath he took, it was all he could focus on. You were an attractive woman of course. He had always found you attractive, unable to ignore the whispers from his fellow classmates talking about how attractive Y/N was.
His mind, whenever he tried to focus on the assignment, he kept gazing to you. His blue eyes looking at your face, taking in the focused look. The furrow in your eyebrows, your plush bottom lip caught between your teeth as you read and took notes. He couldn’t help the bulge that grew as he watched you. He took a deep breath, subtly adjusting himself. He ran a hand over his face.
“You seem tired,” The velvet sound of your voice broke the silence. You looked over at Coriolanus, your doe eyes looking at his icy blue ones.
“A bit,” Coriolanus replied a bit hoarsely.
“Shall we continue tomorrow?” You asked. “We can combine notes.”
Coriolanus nodded his head, pressing his lips together. “That would likely be a good idea.”
You gave a small smile before closing your textbook and notebook. “I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Coriolanus couldn’t help but notice the small smile on your face. How your eyes crinkled ever so slightly, the smile lines that illuminated your face, the small showing of your dimples. That definitely didn’t help Coriolanus’ problem at all. “See you tomorrow,” He eventually said.
You packed your things into your satchel before leaving. Coriolanus stayed behind for a few minutes, trying to regain his composure. He packed his things as well, putting his satchel over his shoulder. He positioned it so it covered the crotch of his pants as he walked out.
When he gets home, he barely greets Tigris and his grandma’am as he storms into his bedroom, closing the door behind him. His cock still so hard. He cursed himself for being so turned on by something as minuscule as you doing what you were supposed to be doing. He felt like he was hitting puberty all over again. He took his satchel off, throwing it onto his desk before sitting down in his chair. He unzipped his pants, lowering them and his underwear just enough to let his cock breathe.
He closed his eyes, playing with the tip of his cock before stroking himself. He didn’t even bother to tease himself, jerking himself off firmly and quickly. He felt desperate for release. He whimpered softly to himself, throwing his head back in pleasure as he thought about you.
Oh how he wanted you so badly. Your pretty and plush lips would look so beautiful wrapped around his cock. He couldn’t help it when he bucked his hips into his fist, wishing it was your mouth instead. He wanted to see your doe eyes looking up at him, watery and glimmering with tears as you took him in so deep.
Coriolanus jerked himself off faster. “Fuck…” he moaned out quietly, careful to not allow anyone to hear what he was up to. He felt his release build up in his abdomen, his cock stiffening as he jerked himself off. He thought about running his hand through your hair, pulling it as your lips were on him. And with that thought, he came very hard, moaning out your name. His uniform shirt was covered in his cum as ropes came out over his chest.
He took a few minutes, relishing in the afterglow of his orgasm. He breathed heavily, his blond locks covering his face slightly. Coriolanus looked down at himself, cursing as he realized he dirtied his shirt. Luckily, his only other uniform shirt was clean. He could wear that tomorrow. Sighing to himself, Coriolanus tucked himself back into his underwear, pulling his pants back up.
The next day, there was no school. So technically, Coriolanus didn’t need to wear his uniform. But he also didn’t really have much else to wear so here he was, sitting in the private room in the Academy’s library as he waited for Y/N Plinth to arrive.
You arrived a few minutes later, dressed in a floral patterned dress that definitely made Coriolanus hard the minute he saw you. Your legs were showing, he could see a bit of your thighs. He knew you wore it simply because the weather was getting warmer. He bit his lip. “Hey,” He greeted, looking at you.
You looked at him, giving a small smile. “Hey,” you replied, taking a seat next to Coriolanus.
Coriolanus tried to compose himself, to keep his cool. But as you were dressed in that beautiful, floral dress, with your floral perfume on, the small dimples on your cheeks as you smiled softly at him, the furrow in your eyebrow as you worked, Coriolanus knew that he was a goner.
And just like the previous night, he went home, barely making it into his bedroom before he shoved a hand in his pants to relieve the tension.

next part
Coriolanus's stomach twisted as he could hear your screams from the hall, even though by then he was all the way on the other side of the school. He thought that was unsettling, only for them to abruptly stop just before he left. The silence that followed was so much worse. He didn't get any sleep, sitting on the roof in Grandma'ams rose garden with Tigris all night, wondering if you were dead.
He was just sick about it, even as he left the following morning, so early that the sun was yet to rise. It was a long, painful ride, and he spent the entire thing certain that you were dead. It was his fault, he had only wanted you to come with him, so he wouldn't be alone, but now he truly is alone and he won't even have you to write to back home. Regardless, he would try.
Rather than sit with the idea that it might even be pointless for him to live another day, especially with this unflattering haircut and a uniform that challenged the discomfort of the academy one, he decided to write to you on a paper he had found bunched between the train seats to ease his mind.
Y/N/N,
I hope you're reading this. I hope this gets back to you at home and finds you safe and sound, and you're sitting over your desk with a textbook open getting ready for university in the fall. That's not what's happening though, is it? You're probably dead. I probably killed you. If you are reading this in your room, or your library, or over my shoulder as I write this because you are only alive in what's left of your spirit, I hope you know that I am sorry. I did it because I wanted you with me, because in the moment I was so sure you'd be better off with me in the districts than you would be at home with your father. I think I was wrong. But I still miss you. You meant more to me than I ever told you. I guess, more than I ever told myself either until these last few weeks.
I think I heard them kill you after I left you with the Dean. If they did, boy, did you go out fighting. I always knew you would. I can't stop writing in case I never get to speak to you again. But again, maybe you're not dead, right?
Please tell me you're not dead.
Yours,
Always yours, your Coryo
He smoothes out the wrinkled sheet as he writes, hand shaking through most of it. He doesn't know if he should even bother sending it, or if he should just fold it up and throw it out the window in hopes that the message will find its way to your ghost. No, he has to send it. Otherwise he'll definitely never know, at least not for twenty years, and he couldn't bear that.
The wind hits the trees into the windows of the train as it rolls along the tracks, demanding that the branches be heard against the glass. It reminds him of you. Then again, what doesn't these days? Maybe it was just you letting him know you had read his letter, and that you forgive him. That would give him a semblance of peace for the rest of the ride.
When you woke up, it was impossible to tell what time it was. You only knew that it was dark, and your bedroom door was locked from the outside when you got up and carefully tried to open it only to be blocked by the mechanism.
"I have half the mind to agree with you on the Avox thing." You hear your dad sigh, his voice echoing from his study just down the hall. Your eyes widen and you try the knob again. Yep, still locked. "But we could always send her to Nine or Ten as a nurse. She's not staying here, that's certain."
"I don't want to push your decision, here, but she was saying she would tell everyone. She knows more than we thought, more details." Highbottom was here too, great.
"No, that's impossible. What did she say?"
"She knows we're selling, likely that you're storing it all here somewhere, and she knows it's enough to be treason. I don't know what else she knows, but it's risky business ever letting her out of that room again. The procedure might be our best option, here." You've heard enough, quickly making for your window instead. It's locked as well, but draping your old uniform over the lever gives you enough freedom to crush it with a particularly heavy, hardcover textbook without making much noise.
You change quickly, grabbing a few essentials that you could fit into your book bag, then climb out the window and slide down the back porch column before making as quiet of an escape as possible. Adrenaline carried you a few blocks away, but now, you were unsure what to do. You couldn't return, and you couldn't be seen, and you had a tragic shortage of friends at the moment. You find your feet carrying you toward the building you know Coriolanus lives in.
You're not particularly excited to see him, but with no other options, you're sure you can find it in yourself to be forgiving just this once. You could go to Sejanus's family home, but it's not far enough away, and you're not sure what his father would say. He'd probably call your dad in a second and it would all be for naught- you couldn't risk it. So, Coryo's it was.
You enter the building, walking straight for the elevator. He was in the penthouse, so you just have to hit the very top button and figure it out from there. You've never been to his home before, but he's talked about it plenty. Enough that you could find your way there, at least.
You groan when you quickly realize the elevator doesn't work, looking over at the stairs. It's a tall building, so you've got a long way to go. You wonder how he does this every day as you climb up set after set of stairs, taking note of how the walls are basically crumbling around you.
You knew he didn't have money, that he couldn't eat, but you didn't think he lived like this. No wonder he was so thin, and no wonder he still had any muscle left on his body. It was these damn stairs. That couldn't be it though, that wouldn't explain how his shoulders just seemed to go on for miles- maybe he had some kind of workout routine you never knew about.
You're drawn from your thoughts when you reach the top of the last staircase, hesitating to open the industrial looking door in front of you. Just beyond that was the front door to the Snow penthouse, and now that you're here, you're not sure what to do. Do you knock? You don't even know what time it is.
You sit by the door, deciding to think it over for a bit. It doesn't take you long to fall asleep leaning up against the wall where it meets the dusty floor.
Waking up, you're met with a gasp. "Y/N?" You blink open your eyes, seeing Tigris crouched in front of you, forehead creased with worry. "Are you okay? What are you doing here?"
"Tigris, hello." You mumble, gathering yourself to stand up as she helps you. "I, uh, I didn't know where to go, so..."
"Okay, okay. Come in for a second." She nods, holding your shoulder as she guides you back into the apartment. You squint at the sunrise through the large bay windows, she must have been on her way to work. "Can I get you anything? Some tea? You must be freezing..." She says, immediately shuffling into the kitchen.
"No, no. It's fine. Thank you, though." You insist, trying not to stare at the state the apartment has fallen into.
"Okay, well, please, take a seat. Tell me what's going on."
You nod slightly and move to sit down at their dining table where she joins you, reaching out for your hand which you gratefully take. "Did Coriolanus leave already?" You ask and she nods, giving you a sad smile.
"I must admit, I'm relieved to see you." She says, taking you by surprise. "Coryo thought you were dead. He was just so torn up about it, he said it was his fault but he wouldn't tell me why. I was expecting to see your passing in the papers this morning."
"Well, my days are numbered." You sigh, looking out the window again. The view was stunning. Maybe you would prefer a penthouse to your own large, empty feeling home. "My father and Dean Highbottom were discussing turning me into an Avox as a pity punishment, and I don't doubt that my father would rather bury me than have that on his name. I didn't stick around to hear their decision."
Tigris listens intently, squeezing your cold hands between her own. "And now, I don't know what to do. I had nowhere to go, I'm so sorry to intrude-"
"No, my goodness, please. You are always welcome here." She assured you. "But... what will you do?"
"I have to leave." You nod to yourself. "I have to leave and I can't come back, can I?"
"One day I'm sure it will be safe for you to return." She says, notably trying to put a positive spin on it. "I'll tell you what-" She stands quickly, going over to a hall closet and pulling out a large fur coat. "Take this, it can hide you and keep you warm. Take the next train to Twelve, that's where Coryo went." She places the coat in your lap. "He'll be ecstatic to have you and see that you're well."
You nod, standing up and pulling it on in a hurry. It was a beautiful coat, you could tell it was real fur. This must have belonged to one of their mothers. "Thank you, Tigris."
"There's another train headed there in about twenty minutes, if you rush you can make it. I had to check the schedule last night for him. Don't buy a ticket, just climb in a transport car from the opposite side, not the platform." She instructs you hurriedly,
You dig in your bag as you both head for the door, pulling out a handful of money and rifling through it to give some to her. You'll need some, but she will too.
"Here, Tigris. Take this." You say as she holds the door for you, and she instantly is shaking her head.
"No, no. I couldn't." She smiles awkwardly, waving a hand at you. "You'll need it more than I do, Coryo will be sending us cheques."
You smile at her understandingly, holding it out to her again. "If not for your help, then for this lovely jacket. Please take it. I insist."
Tigris sighs, taking it from your hand before pulling you into a hug which you gladly return. "Tell him we love him, okay?"
"He knows," You say, chin resting on her shoulder. "But I will."
It was dark again when your train reached its final stop, and you were curled up under the coat trying to sleep. You scramble to get up, having to bolt from the train before anyone came to unload the car.
Unfortunately, you didn't get the privilege of having a place to stay when you arrived, so once you're out of sight of the train, the best you can do is wander.
You don't have to wander long before you hear music. You didn't realize people were happy here, so the sounds of laughter and shouting and dancing coming from inside what looked to be an abandoned building made you tilt your head at the idea. Maybe you would just sit outside, around the side of the building where you won't be seen and you can listen.
You don't even get the chance to sit before you hear the singing start. It's Lucy Gray. You mentally scold yourself for not thinking of her sooner as you stand again quickly, finding yourself quite lightheaded. You must be hungry. Maybe there will be some food inside, or maybe you can find talk to Lucy Gray and maybe she'll let you stay with her. Just until you get yourself situated here.
Clutching your new coat tightly around yourself you walk in after attempting to dust off and salvage your clothes. Your favourite skirt and shoes took quite a beating throughout the day, and you're disappointed, to say the least. Hopefully Lucy Gray has a washing machine, but you doubt it. Did these people even know what a washing machine is? By the look of everyone in the room, the answer was a definite no.
Sure enough, Lucy Gray was on stage, singing her heart out. You had never seen her smile so wide, of course, and the kids surrounding her onstage were just as talented as she was at all their instruments. You've never seen live music like this before, only classical or opera where everyone sat quietly and listened until the end. This environment was entirely new to you.
Not wanting to interrupt, you wait until Lucy Gray steps offstage and her spot is replaced with a little blonde girl who couldn't have been older than ten.
"Give it up for the amazing Lucy Gray Baird!" The girl shouts into the mic, gesturing to your friend before more music started to play. "She'll be back, she's just taking a little break, but until then, you lot are stuck listenin' to me."
This is your chance. You push through the crowd and step into the hall you saw Lucy Gray go down. "Lucy Gray?" You call out hopefully, watching your step as to not roll a heel. In hindsight, these shoes were not ideal for the journey you took, but your options were limited by a time crunch.
"Lucy Gray?" You ask again, turning a corner and peeling into a large open room. It's a few moments before your eyes land on her, and she turns to face you having heard you walk in.
"Oh my days, I thought I recognized that voice!" She smiles, opening her arms and running up to you. "Y/N, my word, what are you doin' here?" Her excitement fades quickly into concern as she drops her arms from around you.
"Long story..." You chuckle nervously, pulling at your coat again as she nods for you to continue. "We got caught, for the compact. And the snakes, somehow. Coriolanus put our handkerchiefs that you used in the tank so they wouldn't attack you, I guess. I didn't know. Then they pulled us out of class the next day, he told them it was me, so then I put up a fight and they sedated me. When I woke up I was at home and they were talking about having my tongue cut out and turning me into one of those servants but I'm sure my dad would rather have me dead. So," You sigh, trying to summarize it as quickly as possible. "I ran."
Lucy Gray shook her head, mouth agape in shock at all the information she just took in. "Okay, wait... So they were going to kill you?"
You nod.
"But that teacher of yours seemed so nice."
"Sorry?"
"Yeah, he gave me some money and escorted me into the train himself."
You scoff, shaking your head. "He's never liked either of us, but that's only because I have dirt on him. I don't know what Coryo did."
"Well," Lucy Gray sighs, rubbing your shoulders gently. "I'm glad you're here. That you're safe."
"You too." You smile. "Can I just say, too, we were so proud of you. We were so lucky to be your mentors."
"I count myself the lucky one." She grins. "Let's move on, shall we? On the up and up."
"Yes, sounds lovely." You grin at her.
"Can I get you some water? Liquor? What do you need?" She asks, turning at that and going over to a bench in the middle that had a few water bottles.
"I would love some water." You breathe out, joining her and sitting down as she hands one to you.
"Lucy Gray, could I ask you for a really big favour?" You say after taking your first sip.
"Please." She nods.
"Can I stay with you?"

Thanks for the love and messages on chapter four! If you want to see chapter six, comment or reblog, feedback makes me want to continue!
As you slept, Coriolanus studied you.
Tucking a stray curl underneath the silk on your hair, he studied your face. The stressed expression you had concerned him, he fought the urge to smooth the knitted space between your brows.
He could do this every night.
Courtships were quick affairs in The Capitol, arranged and wed within weeks, hours even, depending on the wealth of each party and what could be gained.
A wealthy orphan such as yourself worked in Coryo’s favor, no parents to impress, no dowries, just you and your ability to control a room.
Coriolanus had plans for Panem and he needed someone at his side who could stand with him, without fear.
President Ravinstill represented the victory of war, old and bloated, a reminder of the dark days.
You would be the face of his Panem, bright and beautiful.
Yes, you would do just fine.
The smell of smoke interrupted Coryo’s study and he untangled himself from you to go to the window, throwing open the curtains.
The sun had yet to come up but a fire in a visible quarter of The Capitol raged, illuminating the sky and from the Plinth’s window he could see multiple hovercrafts carrying water to douse the flames.
“Coryo?”
You stood next to him, watching the fiery scene and he took your hand in his, rubbing circles on the back of your hand.
A knock on the door brought you both from the window and you opened it to see Mrs. Plinth, a worried expression on her face.
“There’s been a bombing, it’s all over the news. Peacekeepers want everyone in their own homes within the hour. I’ll get you some food to take home, dears.” She said kindly.
Too quickly you were standing outside, Coryo’s suit jacket draped around your shoulders, waiting for your car.
“ I was going to ask you to lunch with Tigris and Grandma’am but I think we’ll have to reschedule.” Coryo said.
“You’ll just have to make it up to me, Coriolanus Snow. If waltzing and a bombing are typical society affairs, I’m eager to see what happens the next time we’re together.”
With a kiss upon your hand, Coriolanus helped you into the car, noticing it was driven by a peacekeeper.
Peacekeepers weren’t usually drivers.
“Excuse me, if I’m going to meet Dr. Gaul, I’d like to change first.” You said, wanting very much to get out of a dress you’d been in for far too long but the peacekeeper kept driving right past your residence.
“Where are we going?” You asked but as usual, you were ignored and the car continued past The Corso, eventually coming to a stop outside a familiar looking building.
Even in the dark, you knew where you were and a fear you hadn’t had in years greeted you like an old friend.
The Arena.
A peacekeeper opened the door and three more took hold of you, yanking you of the car. Your claims that you could walk just fine went unheard as they dragged you with purpose into the massive yet crumbling amphitheater.
Nothing could quite prepare you for the scope of it, having only seen it back home on a tv that turned off and on during the games if you didn’t kick it three times. You couldn’t remember the last time it was used but there you were, taking in the sights while they shoved you through the turnstile.
“Enjoy the show!” A broken down robotic voice said.
“My little thief, right on time! Don’t you look pretty?” Dr. Gaul said, pointing to a spot for the peacekeepers to throw you down.
“What is this, why am I here?” You asked, standing to your feet, looking around at the empty structure.
“As you well aware, there was an attack on The Capitol this morning, a poorly constructed bomb killed two Capitol citizens. Imagine my surprise when we caught the animal behind this, I found out he’s from your district!”
“Dr. Gaul, I’m not behind this, you have my parents, I’m already risking everything-
“Oh no young lady, we know you weren’t behind this, we just need you to clean up a mess for the glory of Panem.”
A familiar voice and the sound of marching feet echoed throughout the arena and out of the shadows strolled President Ravinstill and his guards.
Of course, they would be working together.
“I believe you’ve already met President Ravinstill so no need for introductions. Gentlemen, if you please!” Dr. Gaul called out and from another corner came muffled screaming.
Two peacekeepers dragged a badly beaten man in front of you, one eye swollen shut, the other widening in recognition.
District 6 was big, but you knew him, he worked on delivery trains.
You used to see his children chase after the hefty freighter, waving to him on his route.
“If you’d be so kind, dear girl.” President Ravinstill said, placing a handgun into your shaking hand.
No, please, no.
“I don’t want to do this, I don’t need to do this, you have guns, you do it.” You stuttered.
“Just pretend he’s a morphling, that worked the last time, didn’t it?” Dr. Gaul asked. President Ravinstill walked up behind you and wrenched your hands into position, the gun on the man’s forehead but you dropped the gun, a missed shot ringing in the air.
“I have a better idea. Let him up, gentlemen.” Dr. Gaul said and clapped her hands.
“Enjoy the show!”
Peacekeepers filed into the arena, blocking off the exits and breaks in the concrete where the floor and tunnels caved in, forming a circle around the perimeter.
A peacekeeper unlocked the cuffed man and heaved him to his feet in front of Dr. Gaul who pointed a gloved hand in your direction.
“You see her? We’ll pin all of your mess on her and you’ll get to see your family again. All you have to do is kill her and everything is forgiven. ” Dr. Gaul whispered into his ear.
Surely he couldn’t actually believe that?
He took a step in Gaul’s direction and for a moment you believed the rebel in him saw through the lies and he’d take out Dr. Gaul and President together.
Was this the moment a rebellion was born?
But then you saw it, a shine in his uninjured eye, that told you this was just a man who wanted to go home.
“Young lady, I suggest you run.” President Ravinstill instructed.
If he couldn’t catch, he couldn’t kill you.
So you ran.
Shoes off, you ran with him on your heels, climbing up a piece of debris towards what was left of the stands, dress and skin ripping as you climbed this way and that, trying to tire him out. He stumbled but kept up the pace and you brought your bleeding hands to a corner to get further up but a warning shot made you freeze, unable to climb any higher.
That split second of indecision worked in his favor and the man grabbed your still tender ankle and brought you back down to the same level as him.
His hands were around your throat, slamming you back on the concrete before you had a chance to get back up, kicking wildly and scratching deep into his arms, the world around you starting to blur.
You weren’t a fighter, that morphling was drugged out of his mind, you couldn’t steal your way out of this.
Would they let your parents go now?
What would they tell Coriolanus?
What was the point of any of this?
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a broken arrow, probably left over from the games, and as he pressed harder, anguish grunting escaping his bloody mouth, you let yourself go limp beneath him.
He would go no further.
The moment he loosened his grip ever so slightly in victory, you drove your thumb through his bad eye and as he tried everything, slammed you into everything but you wouldn’t let go until the last minute, letting him shove you into a pile of rocks, something in your shoulder popped, causing you to scream.
When he came at you one last time, you drove that arrow into his throat, watching him sink to the ground, jerking and gasping until President Ravinstill took a gun from a peacekeeper, aimed it at the man from District 6, the husband and father, one shot to make him lie still.
It wasn’t fair.
“Well done little thief, you would have made a fantastic tribute! Allow me.” Dr. Gaul gave no warning before she popped your shoulder back into place.
“It’s quite remarkable, all that Capitol finery, and you still reverted back to your most natural form.” President Ravinstill marveled, looking your bloody and bruised body up and down.
You were going to be sick.
“Do you see why I chose you now? You will do anything to survive, the ugly brutal things Capitol citizens don’t like to think about except on that very special time every year, and that’s what Panem needs alongside Coriolanus. Beauty is one thing, but brutality is what keeps the mice at bay.” Dr. Gaul said and clapped her hands once more, the peacekeepers moved from the exit.
“Go to him, little thief. Go to him and remember the only standing between becoming Mrs. Snow or ending up like your district friend here is your cooperation.” Gaul said and without another word you turned and stumbled out of the arena.
“See you Monday, young lady!” President Ravinstill called out.
You wandered through the streets of the Capitol for hours till you found yourself in front of Coryo’s apartment and more or less crawled up the stairs.
Before you could lift your hand to knock, the door flew open and Coriolanus enveloped you in his arms, your unrehearsed sobs stifled into his chest.
“Who did this to you?” He asked voice colder than you've ever experienced, touching you all over, cataloging each and every bruise and blood stain. At the noise, Tigris peeked her head out of her room only to come racing out fully when she saw you.
As you collapsed into their embrace, you had one thought in your head.
Dr. Gaul and President Ravinstill were very much like mice.
To get rid of mice, you would need a snake.
That’s Chapter 5! As usual if you’d like to see Chapter 6, please comment or reblog! Thank you for reading :)

I
A few weeks had gone by and Coriolanus’s high hopes of having you to himself was dwindling. It’s not like he saw much of you anymore, and had no idea how to hang out with you alone without your boyfriend stirring up shit. He received your graduation party invitation and was mentally preparing to see you again. Each time he went to Sejanus’s house, he would check to see if you were home, and sometimes you’d be outside. He would awkwardly wave and you’d smile back. Something he noticed however, was the fact that he seems to see less and less of Devon’s car. Coriolanus would try not to get ahead of himself, but he could help but think maybe you and Devon were closer to breaking up. Still, that gave him little hope since he wasn’t sure what to do about it.
As he sits with Sejanus in his room, he slowly blows out the smoke from his joint, through his window. Sejanus coughs and turns his head.
“You know you could use this from time to time. You might be less anxious.”
“Maybe…”
The high flows through him, his mind going numb, his body feeling light and calm. He takes another hit before knocking off the ashes and settling it on his ashtray. Another euphoric wave washes over him again and he leans back in his chair and sighs. He takes a swig from his Red Bull and picks up his controller.
“Wanna do teams this time, kinda wanna get some online stats up.”
“Yeah”
As the two boys continue their game, Coriolanus is glad to not feel as pent up and angry. He finally feels like his mind isn’t obsessing over you for the first time all day. It has become a daily, if not hourly occurrence. His mind racing with thoughts. Thoughts of you, naked before him, your beautiful mouth agape and ready and you begging to suck him off. He would also imagine you on all fours, your perfect ass stuck up in the air, pussy on full display. What he would give to rub his face in it, bury his tongue deep inside you until you came.
Coriolanus shifts in his seat, his thoughts now fully back on you. Just as he thought he was doing better with his fantasies of you He takes another hit to drown out his feelings.
“Aw man these guys are good.” Sejanus exclaims
“We can beat them…”
The two boys finish the round, beating the other team. They play a few more rounds, then Tigris knocks on the door.
“Oh god, how can it still smell with the windows open.” She asks, face scrunching up
“I lit a candle” Coriolanus quips
“Still, anyways, I got you an outfit for tomorrow.”
“Oh you’re going too?” Sejanus questions
“Why wouldn’t I?” Coriolanus shrugs
“Because of Devon.”
Tigris leaves momentarily and comes back with a nice white button up, decorated with small red roses. Even with the design, it’s still masculine enough for Coriolanus liking. They were small enough to look like scattered polka dots and honestly it’s very sophisticated and sexy.
“It should fit. I borrowed your graduation shirt for measurements and I think that nice pair of your dad’s of black khakis will look perfect.”
“You made this?” He asks
Tigris nods with a big smile.
“Well I thought that she’d like it. Leave Devon for you. You’re far more handsome anyways.”
She, referring to you. Of course Tigris knows without him saying anything. He doesn’t mind. Coriolanus' heart skips and he smiles back at his cousin, appreciating the kind gesture.
“I appreciate it, Ty.” Of course
Tigris waits as he tries it on. He takes his shirt off and buttons up the new one. Coriolanus looks in the mirror. It fits him just right and he likes how it cuts into his figure.
“Yeah. It’s perfect.” He moves his arms around making sure it wasn’t too tight in any places.
Tigris smiles and leaves the room. Coriolanus hangs up the shirt and sits back down on the bed, putting his old, worn white shirt back on. The two boys continue playing their game.
“It looks nice.” Sejanus remarks
“Thanks man.”
“Oh guess what!” Sejanus perks up as he hits a combo attack
“What?”
“I uh think Devon and them might be done soon. “
“Why?” Coriolanus inquires
“I hardly see him anymore. And last night he stormed off big time. I could hear them yelling from my window. I think it might have been about you, but I wasn’t too sure.”
“Really. Like what?” The blonde leans in closer
“He was mad that someone was coming to the party tomorrow, and shouted at her that she needs to do something about him…”
Coriolanus’s mind fires up again. Through the fog of his high, he refocuses, and he feels sharp with this new found knowledge. He smirks to himself, satisfied that Devon feels pissed off by the very idea that Coriolanus Snow will be in attendance at his graduation party. He likes this feeling. The power he holds from afar and the fact that he seemingly lives rent free in Devon’s head. And maybe even in yours. Coriolanus would selfishly love to see you two break up. He would do anything to have you.
He smashes one of the other players off the map, winning the round. Feeling victorious, and not just from the video games, Coriolanus lights up his joint again. He places it in his mouth, inhales, and blows it out the window. He falls back into a dream-like state. He takes another hit, inhaling deeper this time.
“Fuck dude.” Coriolanus whispers, the smoke escaping his lips as he talks
“What?”
“You think I have a chance with her?”
“Maybe.” Sejanus shrugs
The next day comes fast and Coriolanus once again drives to pick up Sejanus. You are already gone, setting up for the party. Coriolanus feels confident, cocky even as he rolls past your house. He drums his fingers on the steering wheel. His favorite Cage the Elephant song, Back Against the Wall, was playing and he couldn’t be happier. With his new shirt and the new cologne Tigris got him for graduation, he felt irresistible.
“Hey man! Looking good!” Sejanus exclaims as he hops into Coriolanus’s truck.
The two boys ride off to the country club. Money, Power and Glory by Lana del Ray starts to play as they roll up and Coriolanus hums along. As they are parking, a man in a black polo waves them down and Coriolanus assumes he’s a valet. He rolls down his window.
“Hey! Are you maintenance? You gotta go around back there should be some signs…”
“I’m here for the graduation party!” Coriolanus quips sharply
The man looks stunned and gives an apologetic expression.
“I’m so sorry! You can park down that way umm the valet should be…” he looks around frantically
“Thanks!”
Coriolanus drives past him and huffs in frustration.
“That was rude.” Sejanus remarks and Coriolanus simply rolls his eyes. They park a little further from the rest of the cars and walk up the entrance. As they walk up Coriolanus notices Sejanus is carrying two little gift bags.
“Ma got them $200 for Bed Bath and Beyond…”
“Well I didn’t bring anything.” Coriolanus mumbles as they walk in.
The country club is huge. Wide windows looking out onto the golf course, with nearly polished mahogany wood floors, and the main entrance leading into several areas to sit and eat drinks. The furniture is equally as grand, with red chesterfield chairs and couches and sitting on top of Persian rugs. The walls were a crème white and the whole place smells of old money. Various waiters and waitresses are walking around with flutes of champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
“I’m surprised that guy outside didn’t recognize me. I’m sure he knows we are members here…”
“It’s hard to believe that people like you would run around with anyone like the likes of me and my family anymore.”
“What do you mean? Your dad used to come here too?”
“Used to…”
Coriolanus didn’t talk much about his dad and it wasn’t a subject Sejanus would bring up often. It was true, before both his parents died, they had been wealthy, but his dad had worked with Mr. Plinth as Vice President of marketing, but tragically both his parents had died in a plane crash on vacation with Tigris’s parents, leaving them both orphans and in the care of the grandparents. However, Coriolanus would learn growing up that his father had blown most of his money away on gambling, leaving the Snow family name in debt and broke.
Sejanus quiets down and takes a caramelized onion, cream cheese tart from a waiter. He takes water as well and nervously sips it.
“Sorry I don’t mean to mention him.”
“It’s fine man.”
Then you flow into the room. You’re wearing a delicate, pink, strapless dress that flows as you walk. Your hair is slightly curled, bouncy, and has a pink satin bow to match. You’re absolutely precious, his eyes practically undressing you. You turn and smile at him. Coriolanus waves and you come greet him and Sejanus.
“Hey boys, glad you could come!” You beam
“Hey, where can I put these?” Sejanus pipes up
“Oh there’s a table by the entrance.” You point
Sejanus smiles, leaving you alone with Coriolanus. He tempers his breath and you step closer to him.
“You look nice.” He nods
“Thanks. You do too. Did Tigris make that?”
“She did” he beams back at her
“That girl is gonna work for Gucci one day…you uh smell nice again too.”
“Thanks. This is a good color on you.” He states, rubbing the fabric between his forefinger and thumb. You giggle and look at his hand. He immediately pulls back, a rush of embarrassment washing over him. Coriolanus feels his face getting red and he runs his fingers through his blonde buzz cut. But you still just smile at him, finding it charming that he’s slightly embarrassed.
“So where is my graduation gift from you?” You perk up, teasing him
“Oh I feel stupid saying this but I didn’t bring one I guess…”
“It’s fine. I have enough things anyways.” You joke
“Well this is nice of you to invite the whole grade. This place is lovely.”
“Yeah it’s nice to be able to rent the space. And it was cheaper to do it with Devon, so I guess it worked out nice.”
“I guess so.” He chuckles
You and him stand in silence for a moment until Sejanus returns. The three of you make conversation, Sejanus informing you that his mom got you a gift card and you thank him. Coriolanus starts to ask what you are looking forward to the most about college and you light up. You start talking about how amazing the medical science program is and how you simply can’t wait for the biology labs. Coriolanus couldn’t understand how anyone would be truly interested in what you’re talking about, but he loves how much it interests you. He loves how passionate and smart you are on the subject, and clings to every word. You brush your hair to the side and Coriolanus can’t help but let his eyes trail your shoulders and collar bone. He would love to kiss the bare skin in front of him. Just in the divot of your bone and then, all the way up to your neck. Would you whine for him? Moan at his lips on you, as he shows you how beautiful you are. How much he loves you. He’s so lost in his thoughts he doesn’t even notice Devon making his way towards the group
Sejanus nudges Coriolanus who looks at him, then sees Devon. He calls to you and you spin around. You smile, but Coriolanus knows it’s a facade.
“Hey! Mom wants pictures so I’m stealing you away.”
Devon rubs your arm and pulls you to him. You start to trot away and follow him.
“Ok. Well I’ll see you boys around.” You call out
Devon glares at Coriolanus, before leaning down to whisper something in your ear.
“Prick…” Coriolanus mumbles
As the party continues, Coriolanus and Sejanus make their way around, catching up with a few classmates. The country club has a nice, spacious outdoor patio and a big lawn for yard games. Eventually the two boys find their way to a Bags game and play against each other. You see him and find one of you girls to join you and Sejanus.
“Need some more players?” You ask
“Of course!” Coriolanus smiles.
You opt to stand on the same side as Coriolanus, while your teammate stands next to Sejanus. Coriolanus looks around for Devon.
“Where’s Devon?” He asks, trying to sound casual
“I think his dad said him and his buddies are going to do a few holes on the golf course.”
“At his own graduation party?” Coriolanus jokes
You shrug your shoulders.
“I’m just happy to be able to talk to you without him being a vulture.”
“Yeah he can be a bit much”
“Besides, I like being able to actually talk to you.”
Coriolanus feels his face get hot again, and bites his lip. Fuck. His breath hitches as he tries to casually toss a bean bag across the lawn. It lands on the board with a fat smack.
“Nice!” Sejanus calls out
“So are you going to Devon’s house party tonight?” You ask
“He’s having another party tonight?”
“Yeah I guess his parents are going out of town like immediately after this so he wanted to throw a banger” she sighs, putting the last few words in air quotes, mocking him.
Coriolanus snickers as you toss a bag over. It hits the board and slides off. You frown.
“I was trying to knock you off!” You giggle
“Gonna have to try harder.” Coriolanus remarks then pauses “ But umm…I’m not sure about the party.”
“I’m not either, but I might go. I know I’ll be kinda tired after today.”
Coriolanus ponders the offer for a moment. The possibility of hanging out with you longer is tempting, but not guaranteed. He sighs as he tosses his last bag, making it in.
“Man you’re good!” You exclaim.
The game continues and the two boys win by a far margin. After, Coriolanus chats it up with you, feeling comfortable and relaxed knowing Devon is off playing golf. You and him walk around and he wishes he could hold your hand, kiss your forehead and tell you how stunning you look. Touching your dress would be the closest thing he thought he would ever get to touching you in that intimate way. And here he is, talking to you about something besides physics or biology. You’re currently telling him about your Pinterest board for your dorm decor, a conversation he would normally find mundane, but coming from you, he’s utterly captivated. Eventually you and him find yourself alone inside, mostly isolated from the other guests. You stand there and he can’t help but want to steal a kiss from you, but he knew you’d never cheat. And he wouldn’t try anything of course, but your face, your beautiful plump lips, they look so soft. You are like a siren to him and he feels mesmerized.
Around 4 o’clock, Sejanus and Coriolanus say their goodbyes and head out. In the car on the way back to Sejanus’s house, the two discuss if they should go to the party. As they pull up to the driveway, Coriolanus’s phone dings. It’s one of his classmates, texting him about the party.
Hey, you selling tonight
Wasn’t planning on going
Ah ok then
He stares at the text, contemplating the offer.
“Hey you know what, let’s go tonight…”
“You sure.”
“Someone wants to buy. You think you can steal a couple of Valiums from your ma?”
The evening rolls around, and Coriolanus has changed into a pair of jeans and a black shirt. He puts on one of his Cuban link chains and some more cologne, just in case you’re there. As he rolls back into Sejanus’s neighborhood, he checks his pockets. He’s got a few ounces of weed on him, a few pills of ecstasy, and some acid tablets. Hopefully, Sejanus got the Valium. Coriolanus rolls back up to the Plinth house and turns down his music. Sejanus comes out, hands stuffed into his pockets. By the way he is glancing over his shoulder and awkwardly moving, he got the pills.
“You got them?”
Sejanus looks around and hands Coriolanus a small bag with six blue pills.
“Oh nice! Good work Sejay.” He takes the bag from his hands, stuffing in next to his weed.
“Thanks I guess.”
“You could use one of these. Probably more than a nice solid hit of flower.” Coriolanus suggests
“You’d feel bad too if it was your grandma or something.”
“Yeah, but c’mon your mom needs to get off these anyways. They aren’t doing her much good.”
“I guess so.”
The two pull up to Devon’s house and the music from the basement is booming. He looks around for your car, but it’s nowhere to be found. A few girls head in and Coriolanus watches them. It’s a group of your friends, but you’re not with him. He hangs his head and sighs. You’re probably not coming, he concludes. He curses at the steering wheel, hitting it. A part of him feels like he’s wasting his time, but he would like to make a little extra cash. Fuck it. Sejanus looks at him with concern, but exits the car. They enter through the front door, and find the stairs to the basement. The music blares loudly and the main lighting is replaced with LED strips glowing all along the walls. It’s packed and smells like indica and beer. Coriolanus searches around for a solo cup and a bottle of Captain Morgan. He finds both next to the beer pong table and pours himself a drink. He takes a swig, loving how it warms his body.
“Are you gonna need me to drive home?” Sejanus inquires tentatively
“I’ll be fine. Here.” Coriolanus shoves a cup into Sejanus’s hands and pours him some rum. He takes a small sip and scrunches up his face. He lets out a heavy cough, causing Coriolanus to roll his eyes. He looks around and you're still nowhere to be found. He takes another drink. After a few more sips, he feels woozy and eventually a classmate of his approaches wanting some weed. He sells him an eighth of an ounce for $35 and then a few more people approach. He sells a few tabs of acid for $65 each and a Valium for $40.
“Fuck dude, you really know how to make money.”
“It’s a simple job if you’re not too uptight.” He eyes Sejanus.
They walk around, a few more people buy from Coriolanus and about an hour later, he had about $430 dollars. Eventually, one of your friends ask for a Valium.
“Here.” He hands it to her, taking the $40
“You drive a high price. Can't you give me a little discount?”
“Why.”
“Cause you like my friend.” She bats her eyes
“Yeah and if you were her, then maybe. Are you buying for her?”
“If I said yes would I get a discount?”
He shakes his head. She rolls her eyes and walks away. Coriolanus wasn’t sure if you had done a drug stronger than Tylenol. He wasn’t aware of any surgeries or injuries you had, so it was doubtful you had even taken morphine for pain. He imagined it though. Your little pink tongue sticking out, a tab of acid hanging from the end. How sexy would you look in nothing but your underwear like that too. Or maybe you’d be more sophisticated, and he thought of you naked in your bath, joint hanging loosely in between your fingers. He’d love to see you like that. All naked, clean and high.
He walks around to find Sejanus, who is trying his best to drunkenly flirt with one of his classmates. He walks past a back room in the basement, glances in for a moment and instead finds Devon. At first he stands back, hides, and scoffs quietly to himself. Then he hears a giggle, followed by a moan. He peeks his head in slightly and finds Devon making out with some girl. And it’s definitely not you. He’s slowly teasing the girl’s shirt down her body, and he reaches down to grope her breast harshly, kissing her neck.
“Fuck…” he whispers into her
Coriolanus is stunned, can he really believe his eyes. He’s not surprised given Devon’s reputation, but still. He thinks for a moment and then, silently pulls out his phone. He opens it and pulls up his camera. He hits record. Coriolanus angles it to hide the camera, but makes sure that he can still see the girl on top of Devon and his face. She moves on him, moaning his name and whispering about how “Miss perfect” couldn’t please him like this. Coriolanus’s blood boils at that remark. He slowly backs away and then when he finds a secluded corner and reviews the video on his phone. Coriolanus turns the volume down just enough so he can hear and leans in. He rewatches the video and can clearly see Devon’s face and can clearly hear the other girls voice. It’s perfect. But how to use it.
Coriolanus makes sure the video is saved on his phone, before rushing off to find Sejanus again. Coriolanus walks around, pushing past people, until he finds him awkwardly chatting it up with some girl.
“Hey” Coriolanus announces himself
“Hey Snow…” the girl says
“Dude c’mere! I gotta show you this” he demands, dragging Sejanus away.
“What! What’s up?”
Coriolanus whips out his phone and pulls up the video. Sejanus leans in, confused at first, but then, realizes. Eyes wide, he tilts his head in to hear the audio. He looks at Coriolanus in shock, mouth agape.
“Is that?”
“That’s Devon yeah…”
“Holy shit dude!” Sejanus laughs, stumbling into Coriolanus slightly
“Yeah. Hey are you ok?” You wanna get outta here?”
Sejanus shakes his head drunkenly and Coriolanus takes his arm.
“Come on dude, let’s go.”
“But I was talking to someone…” he slurs
“Yeah, she seems busy.” Coriolanus nudges
The girl Sejanus was talking to is now preoccupied with another man’s mouth, aggressively making out with the other guy. He frowns and walks to the stairs, Coriolanus dragging him along. When the two boys get into the car, Coriolanus doesn’t feel drunk and honestly feels fine to drive. Truthfully, seeing Devon cheating sobered him up and he was still thinking of what he was going to do with the video. He turns the key, starts up his truck, and rides back to Sejanus’s neighborhood. On the way back, he thinks about the best way to get it out without having his name tied to it. He drums his fingers on the steering wheel, looking over at a passed out Sejanus, he gets an idea. He’s not sure who will see it or if it will work but he’s sure it will be anonymous. A popular app used at school to spread gossip anonymously, Yik Yak, Coriolanus thought it might just work to post it there. They finally reach Sejanus’s neighborhood, and Coriolanus glances at your house, a plan now in mind. As he pulls into the Plinth’s driveway, he wakes Sejanus up.
“Hey…we're home”
“Oh that was fast.” Sejanus mumbles, yawing
“For you. I’ll walk you in if you need it.”
“Nah man, I’ll be good.” He opens the door, waves and heads inside.
Coriolanus takes a deep breath and pauses for a moment. He whips out his phone and pulls the video up again. The lewd sounds of Devon’s moans start up again and Coriolanus cringes. Then, the thing that really pissed him off.
“I bet Miss Perfect couldn’t please you like this.” The girl moans
Coriolanus glances at the mirror, gazing at your house. He spots your car parked in the driveway as expected and realizes your most likely sound asleep. Sound asleep as your good for nothing boyfriend is sticking it in another girl. Fuck it. He pulls the app up and impatiently waits for it to load. Coriolanus pulls up his school’s group. And He taps the green plus sign, watching the cursor as it blinks. He then hits the video button and pulls up the video. It uploads and then he waits, looks back at your house again and frowns. He knew you didn’t deserve him and you needed to know that Devon was an absolute ass. You deserve better. He hits the post button and it sends.

I know there's a lot of excitement over the new Hunger Games book and a lot of people are throwing around ideas of whose perspective they want the book to be from. Allow me to throw in an idea I haven't seen suggested yet: Effie.
Imagine getting the perspective of a capital citizen who's been brought up with the Hunger Games and is fully indoctrinated by the propaganda. Imagine getting a spectator's perspective and seeing how these events are portrayed to the population.
We get a bit of an idea of the editing tricks they do from Katniss's thoughts during her games but imagine seeing it through the eyes of a young Effie as she watches things play out on the scene in her home. Her watching invested as an argument breaks out between a few tributes who have formed an alliance. One of them starts ranting about how unjust the games are and how they shouldn't be forced into this sort of situation before they suddenly cut away to another tribute and Effie is left to wonder what happens to those tributes before getting sucked into the drama of the new tribute's situation. We get to see how media distracts us and manipulates us through Effie who fully bought into how the games were advertised to her before Katniss and Peeta came along.
We'd also get Effie's initial impression of Haymitch, her seeing him as a tribute before ever getting to meet him. I wonder how differently she thought of him before he started drinking and she had to work with him. Was she rooting for him to win? Probably not considering 12's lack of a win record before him but maybe as the games went on she started to. Maybe one of her parents was the type to bet on tributes or even sponsor them and we could see how that system works from outside the arena. See how much it's changed since Snow introduced it.
Imagine getting a little something for the Hayffie fans like young Effie having a crush on Haymitch in his tribute days. Her liking him but having to come to terms with the likelihood he was going to die. Her relief and excitement when he wins. Maybe a flash forward to them meeting for the first time and her disappointment in the reality of who Haymitch is and what he's become since becoming a victor.
Also since Effie is so fashion-focused we could get an idea of what Tigris is up to at this point and probably a rundown of her career as a stylist through Effie as a young fan of hers.
I doubt this is the route Suzan will go down but I don't know, this is just an idea I thought would be cool.

TBOSAS as Unus Annus quotes
Coryo: Hey Siri, call us Daddy.
Siri: I don't see a father in your contacts.
Coryo: Well about that...
---
Tigris: Have you ever wanted to kill someone?
Coryo: No.
*lie detector spikes*
---
Tigris: Have you ever hit an animal with your car?
Coryo: Yes.
Tigris: Do you look back on that day fondly?
Coryo: No.
Coryo:...
Coryo: The hit was kind of satisfying.
---
Gaul: You know maybe that's something that we teach them: why bury the body when you can use your friend alive or dead as a resource?
Coryo: They won't know. We'll just be like, hey, we caught a deer.
Gaul: And it would be great for not only a meal but leftovers too. We could make sandiwiches out of it.
Coryo: We'll have a whole ceremony and then the next day "Woo meat! Bacon!"
---
Sejanus: Hey Coryo?
Coryo: Yeah, what's up man?
Sejanus: How do you saw?
---
Gaul: What you did to me what you put me through took me to hell and back Lucy Gray, and now it's time for you to pay the price.
*Lucy Gray grunts and easily breaks her wrist restraints*
Gaul: Tough isn't it? Tough!
Lucy Gray: I mean, I broke it.
Gaul: Al-already? You're completly out?
Lucy Gray: Yeah, I'm out.
---
Coryo: (singing) Digging our friend a grave! When the road gets tough ahead you can just dig a grave, throw your friend in instead. Oh, you'll dig a grave with me!
---
Sejanus: When was the last time that you said a nice thing about me?
Coryo: Just... I could count on one hand the last time, soon enough that it was.
Sejanus: I don't think that's enough. I think I give you praise fairly regularly.
Coryo: Ok, that's fair. I will give to all the critisism you could ever handle and tolerate.
Lucy Gray: Did you say critisism?
Sejanus: See, you can't even do it.
---
Coryo: If our president came up to you and was like "I need to have sex with you for the goodness of the nation" would you do it?
Sejanus: Is it Obama?
Coryo: Yeah, it's Obama.
Sejanus: Fuck yeah, dude. Obama can get it.
---
Coryo: I just go and I drag him out of bed and he's kicking but finally maybe I have a cable or something and I just wrap it around his neck and he can't escape. The more he struggles, the more darkness fades in and I finally drag him out to me vehicle and pop him in the front trunk.
Lucy Gray & Sejanus: You're kind. I can tell that about you. You're a kind person.
Coryo: I am kind.
---
Clemensia: Is this gonna culminate in you guys getting married and getting a house together?
Sejanus: We talked about that.
Coryo: No, YOU talked about that.
Sejanus: I talked about it.
---
Sejanus: Should we order food?
Coryo: SHUT UP!
Sejanus: What kind of foodd o you want?
Coryo: OH GOD STOP TALKING TO ME!
Coryo: I'm gonna punch you in the face.
Sejanus: Coryo, your breathing is excellent. I don't think he can hear me. *through megaphone* Coryo, your breathing is excellent-
Coryo: I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU
---
And I’ve beaten this joke into the ground but it’s still so funny to me

HIS BELLADONA PT.2 treech x mentor reader Pt.1, Pt.2, Pt.3
On the way back I just listened to Cory rant about the injustice towards him.,, The old fool wants to humiliate me completely. He gave me a girl and she's also from the twelfth district." he foamed. "Don't give up Coryo, be nice to her and help her," I answered him. I honestly wished he would go away. I understand that he wanted to win the Plinth scholarship, but this was about the lives of innocents headed for the slaughterhouse. It bothered me that he was talking about her as some piece of trash that was blocking his way.,, You're right, I should calm down." he admitted and we continued to discuss homework for the next week. When we arrived at our apartment complex, the mood was already full of joking and laughing. But the laughter passed me when I opened the door to the apartment that looked like a hurricane was raging. Before I could draw breath to call my father if he was still home, something glass hit me in the back. I fell to the ground in excruciating pain. The pain shot from several places, which only confirmed my suspicion that the glass bottle had broken and the shards were racing into my back. Before I could breathe out the pain, a hard, well-aimed kick landed in my stomach. "Ahhh.. what are you doing." I yelled at my father through clenched teeth.,, I should be asking you that." he yelled and grabbed my hair.,, I told you to stay away from danger and you're going straight into it, why are you participating in those Hunger Games games.” he spat right in my face and his alcohol breath made me want to throw up.Everything was overwhelming my head and back hurt and he just kept yelling at me, but suddenly he said a sentence that shocked us both.,, ... why do you have to keep putting yourself in danger Julia." My mother's name immediately brings me out of the foggy haze of my mind. It has the same effect on my father as he looks as if he has just been snapped out of a trance. Suddenly he lets go of my hair and grabs a full bottle of brandy and runs out the door. I wanted to scream and curse and curse whatever gods there are but now I had no choice strength. I just lay down on the floor and closed my eyes. I was woken up by voices and a gentle shaking on my hand, I moaned and tried to open my eyes.,, Coryo look she woke up, she's fine." that voice was Tigris after all. I opened my eyes and tried to sit up but my head quickly spun and I fell back onto my stomach,, Be careful not to get up, ohh he set you up real good. Coryo take her up to us and we'll treat her." Tigris ordered and walked forward to prepare the medical supplies.,, You don't need to, I'm fine.." I grunted into Coriolanus's chest as he carried me upstairs. However, the boy just held me tighter and carried me to their apartment where Tigris treated and cleaned my wounds. I was with them for about another hour when Coryo and I agreed that tomorrow morning we would go to welcome our tributes to the station. I spent the whole evening making sandwiches both for my tribute and for Coriolanus as a thank you. I prepared sandwiches, water and two apples.
Morning came all too quickly and before I knew it I was walking next to Coryo towards the station. I noticed that he was carrying one of his grandmother's precious roses.,, This is for your tribute." I asked curiously. "Um, what did you bring for your tribute?" he asked in return.,, I brought him food and water, I think he'll be exhausted from traveling, and by the way, I brought you food too, as a thank you." I said as I handed him a sandwich. Coryo just nodded gratefully and took a bite. We waited at the station for about a quarter of an hour before we heard the familiar whistle of the train. However, when the train appeared, I was confused, this train was used to transport animals and not people. When the train stopped, peacekeepers boarded it and began to open the doors of the carriages. At first, no one came out of them, but soon the peacekeepers began to shout abuse and bang on the walls to tributes climbed out. After a while people finally started to climb out. I was shocked most of the tributes were in really bad shape. They were tired, dirty and definitely hungry and thirsty. I noticed that Coryo had found his tribute and that forced me to find Treech myself . I just noticed him when he was jumping off the train and helping his partner from the district. I took a deep breath and took a few steps towards him. "Hello Treech." I spoke to him. He looked at me in return and muttered in a hostile tone. "And who are you?" I'd be lying if I expected a warmer welcome.,, I'm (Y/N) Belladon and I'm your assigned mentor, welcome to the Capitol Treech and Lamina." I addressed him and his district partner.

torn apart chapter 3 (index)
(cato hadley x fem!(plus-size!)reader)
It took Cato a good 20 minutes to change. He needed to calm himself down and even took a quick cold shower. It was like he only now realised what he got himself into.
He was engaged. To a girl, barely even a woman, who he doesn’t really know. He’s not in love, the only girl he ever loved was dead. You just were the first one who was offered. He had other men approach him, other fathers, but he's never seen their daughters, he's never trained with their daughters. That was different with you. That's why he said yes to your fathers approach. Maybe that was wrong. No, not maybe. It was wrong. He was using you to fuel his denial and his pathetic hopes...
When he returns to the living room he sees you laying on the couch, eyes closed and a blanket draped over you. He bites back a sad smile, the picture so familiar, it hurt. Carefully he lifts you up into his arms, making sure the blanket was still draped over you.
He walks over to his room and places you down on his bed before tugging you in and leaving to spend the night on the couch. It felt wrong sliding in the bed beside you… There were boundaries he didn't want to cross, boundaries you haven't discussed yet.
-
When you wake up the next day you’re more than confused. Whose bed is this and what were you doing in that bed? You carefully sit up and look around. Then you notice a small pile of clothes sitting neatly at the feet of the bed.
Slowly you throw the blanket back and stand up. Now as you look around you realize where you are. This must be Cato’s room. You must’ve fallen asleep on the couch yesterday… You look around for a few more minutes before you hesitantly grab the pile of clothes and vanish into the bathroom.
Once you had a quick shower and made sure your hair looked decent you emerged from the bedroom and walked into the kitchen on quiet feet. You thought Cato would be here but he’s nowhere to be seen. You look in the living room next but he also isn’t there. You look for a note but there is none to be found.
Maybe he forgot about you. It wasn’t like you wanted to necessarily see him but you didn’t expect him to just leave you alone. But anyways, your mother wanted to visit you today to plan the wedding further. It was a bit of a paradox, you were planning your wedding, a wedding you didn’t want to attend. And since your parents practically moved you into Cato’s apartment already you were sure she would show up here any moment.
And you weren’t mistaken. An hour or so later your mother strides into Cato’s apartment like she owns the place, setting a bunch of binders and bags down. “Morning, my dear,” she greets you with a smile only a citizen of the Capitol could possess. “How did you sleep?” she wants to know, eying your breakfast with a disgusted face. Looks like she didn’t want you to eat eggs and bacon for breakfast.
“I slept good mother,” you answer, wiping your mouth with a napkin. “And you?”
She doesn’t answer your question, just takes your plate away and struts into the kitchen to throw the remains of your eggs and bacon away. “We have a lot to do, my dear,” she babbles, a bright smile on her face. “Tigris will soon arrive to fit your wedding dress and we still need to decide which flowers to use. Oh, and what color scheme you want!”
You sigh and fall back against your chair. “How many people did you invite?” you ask, already knowing that half of the Capitol would be there. You look at her, trying not to look too annoyed.
Your mother comes to a halt in front of you and pats your cheek. “Oh, just the important people. You know who.” She smiles and you need to be careful not to grimace. She always had that fake smile on her face. You hated it. “This is your big day,” she continues. “It’s only natural we celebrate it like that!”
She turns away and you roll your eyes. Of course…
-
“Mhh,” your mother is walking around you, carefully letting her eyes drift over your body. “I thought that you would need to lose a bit of weight. Your stomach is way too chubby! Cato will not want you if you look like that!” she complains, tugging at the fabric on your stomach. “You look so big… Maybe we gave you too much food.” She lets out a heavy sigh at that.
You swallow down a snarky response and just take your mothers words. You were used to it. And at a certain point she was right, you weren’t exactly thin but you wouldn’t say you were…fat. But your mother had other views on that. She had you on diets for most of your life, trying to get you to lose weight but it didn’t work. That's–partially–why your parents send you to the academy. They thought that the daily exercise and controlled meals would make you lose weight but somehow you didn't. Yes, you put on some muscle but that baby fat–like your mother called it–was still there. Maybe you were just born to be chubby.
Tigris eyes your mother with slight disgust in her eyes, biting her tongue to not insult her. You were lucky to get Tigris to design your wedding gown, she had been retired for years but somehow she accepted your mother's request. Probably because her cousin President Snow put enough pressure on her…
The older woman just smiles at you with a subtle nod. “The dress flatters your hair and waist. I don’t think it will need any further fitting. It looks amazing!” she says in a soft voice, placing her hand on your arm in a comforting manner. “You can take it off now if you like.”
“Thank you,” you smile at her, stepping down from the small pedestal. “I really like the dress. I appreciate what you’re doing for me.”
Tigris smiles at you again. “Of course, sweetheart.” She helps you open the back of the dress, sliding the fabric off your shoulders. “You will look perfect on your big day,” she whispers in your ear while she drapes a blanket over your shoulders. “Don’t let your mother tell you otherwise.”
You subtly nod and pull the blanket around you tighter. Your mother couldn’t ruin your wedding. It already was cursed anyway. There was little that could make it worse than it already was.

Just got out of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and I loved it so much but as always, I have thoughts and feelings. So here's the initial observation. FULL SPOILERS for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes BELOW you have been warned.
First of all, I loved the way they organized it and the fact that they kept the 3 acts clearly defined the same way the books did, and the opening scene is brilliant. Putting it at the forefront like that gives you all you need to know to understand Corio later. The acting is phenomenal, the songs (I could die). All in all, kudos. Absolutely brilliant. Now to the things I wish they had done differently.
First, changing the sequence of events in the arena. I understand we're on a time limit but there are details that to me, reading the book, I felt were too important not to put in. Examples below.
One: the fact that Lucy's poisoned water does not kill Wovey, only Dill. Don't get me wrong, they both get the point across and the fact that Lucy is in fact responsible for someone younger and weaker than her dying, but I feel like in the films, they established this stronger connection between Lucy and Wovey in a couple of scenes, including them holding hands as they walk into the games, and Wovey being killed by that bottle would have really pushed things in a way I would have liked to see.
Two: the way they changed Reaper and his behavior and his ending. What I loved about Reaper in the books was his defiance in silence. Everything he did for the tributes he did without ever saying a word, which in my opinion was more powerful than when he yells in the films, but that's a minor detail. What I didn't like was that he was killed by the snakes and we don't get to see Lucy use his graveyard and the flag against him, doing that little cat and mouse dance until he dies. His death in the movie was shot beautifully, with his arms wide, sitting among the dead bodies he compiled, poetic as fuck, but give me the book death because it says so much about both his and Lucy's characters.
Three: this is a more minor detail but I wish they hadn't changed the way Lysistrata handles Jessup's death and his rabies. Instead of her offering to save Lucy by sending all this water, it's Coryo who suggests it out of the blue and Lys doesn't like it.
My second issue with the film is that I felt act 3 was a little rushed in its storytelling. We get all the events for the most part but I felt like they were running out of time and trying to cram everything that happens in these last 45 minutes. For example, we see them hunting the Mockingjays but we never get an explanation, we never understand what they're doing (for viewers who have not read the book). And because of that, we see so much less of this hatred that Coryo has for the mockingjays that is so well set up in the book. We also get the results of Snow's aptitude test out of the blue as well. I wish we had gotten a little more insight into the life that he and Sejanus led for a bit to contextualize everything and to help us connect even more. Even Sejanus' exclusion from the trip to the lake and the relationship with the Covey made me a little sad because those moments in the books helped make the separation and realization of "betrayal" if you want to call it that even more poignant. It helped us see how truly selfish Coryo is and his lack of connection with anyone in that part of his life.
Third, I wish we had seen him throw away his mother's compact and his photos of his family and only keeping his father's compass as he leaves District 12. That moment in the book was so important for me. We see him becoming more like his father and throwing away the things that remind him of his mother and Tigris who were the kinder people in his life.
Anyway, this was a long rant about things that popped into my head while I was watching. The film is absolutely brilliant and I didn't want it to end and I want more songs and soundtracks and I'll definitely be rewatching it when I can.

Okay I had such a crazy busy week and I finally got to read chapter 5 of Commander Snow and WOW what a ROLLERCOASTER!!! Again, I really appreciate you making these super long 🙏 it’s seriously the best feeling reading your work!!! I honestly can’t get enough of it! Alrighty, let’s get into this masterpiece….
Is this girl really trying to get herself killed by selling the spare morphling bottles that Coryo gave her…? Even though we know he won’t. But girl… you are really asking for it 😂
“You freeze seeing Commander Snow, marching through the streets with the cavalry behind him.” - I just froze 🥵 just give him to meeee NOW!!! I NEED HIM 😫 - “That’s Snow’s girl.” - HELL YEAH I AM!
The way he just comes out of the crowd just to swallow her whole face, neck and collarbone 😂 and hooking her hands over his neck 🥹 ughhh needy little mamas boy bitch who just wants love and nurture from her 🩷 and him biting down on her neck 😫🥵 like I don’t care how bad it hurts just bite me and drain me like a vampire please and thank you!
He really out here just sending for her now to be taken to the Compound 😂
I love it when Lucy Gray is brought up! The way Smiley made her sound like some sort of killer 😂 I'm like… no. Does Smiley have a death wish sharing all this with us? Boy do you not know what your Commander is capable of by now?
HE’S SUCH A NEEDY LITTLE WHORE MY GOD 😫 Laying his head on her lap and not that being enough for him to then force her hand over his chest 🥵😫
Her thinking Tigris is his girl back at the Capitol 😂 - “No, she’s my cousin. You’re my girl.” - THAT I AM DADDY 😈
Coryo not wanting to talk to her about Strabo Plinth because he KNOWS he’s responsible for Sejanus’s death and got that Plinth prize… 🤦♀️
HE'S TAKING US TO THE CAPITOL FOREVER!!! Poor girl is so scared that he’s taking her away from her home.
“He adjusts to a more menacing position; his fingers tightened on your face, his body stiffened into a hard stance over you and his eyes squinted down on you.” - I just love how he gets mad when we don’t comply… It's like a child throwing a tantrum in a way; which makes sense considering his severe undiagnosed mommy issues 😂 - “Do you honestly think you have a say in the matter?.” - No I don’t. Only you can control my life now 😫
Okay I could not stop laughing at the way he just kicked Miss Escot out and told her to fuck off 😂
“Say you’re sorry,” - GOSH he’s so petty… 😂 If I say no, can I suck his dick again? Unwilling of course…. UGHHH 😫 I just love how possessive he is with her by throwing out the moonshine because he doesn’t want her drinking and just casually cutting out people from her life because their a “bad influence” when really... he just wants her all to himself. I mean I ain’t complaining…. 😂
Not him cuffing her up and making her watch the executions… Sir, I am not an animal here? But at the same time…. meow 😈 - “Watch me up there,” - Okay WHORE 😂 I just love how he has this constant need for attention and validation from her. Even in Chapter 2; when he grabs her jaw and tells her to tell him how much he is taking good care of her and to tell him how handsome he is… it is both so sad and pathetic where you can’t help but feel bad for him and sympathize with him… my poor baby boy 🥹🩷 he is doing NOTHING WRONG.
***ME GETTING HATING HIM***
Okay. FUCK HIM for killing that little boy. That was beyond CRUEL. That was sooooooo heartbreaking and traumatizing 😭 he’s terrible.
“I tried to send him to the Capitol as an Avox but Commander Bonza was determined to see him hang”. - YOU ARE IN CHARGE YOU PSYCHOPATH! His ego of not being shown as weak for his stupid presidential run. My god 🤦♀️
Now is this boy really looking for comfort from HER? After what you just made her watch? And by YOUR COMMAND! THE DELUSIONS…. - “He cried for his mother in the holding cell” - 😑😑😑 boy you really don’t need be saying all this to her right now…. - “They don’t hang children in the Capitol. You’ll never have to see it again.” - YET YOU STILL MADE HER WATCH THIS?
***BACK TO LOVING HIM AGAIN***
Coriolanus remembered crying for his mother on nights when the pain in his stomach from hunger was too much to bear. It felt almost therapeutic now to hear you cry for the boy. In a way, you were crying for Coriolanus too. - Okay I am again conflicted for this man 😂 MY POOR BABY JUST WANTS US TO FEEL THE PAIN HE WENT THROUGH AS A KID 🥹🩷 COME HERE I’LL GIVE HIM ALL THE COMFORT HE SO DESPERATELY NEEDS 😂
Again with the desperate need for her to stay with for the night 😫 - “No, no. I need you to stay.” - “You’re not leaving me.” - 🥵🥵🥵 is it getting hot in here? - “You’re telling me no? After everything I’ve done for you?” - Aside from terrorizing me and the people around me? 😈 Also not him threatening her to stay with him 😫😈
Holding her hand back to his apartment 😫 now this boy thinks we're a married couple now? Him wanting to share everything 🥹 he gets a kick out of her wearing his clothes….. OWNERSHIP 😈🥵 I couldn’t stop laughing at him just casually eating in the kitchen after what he had done 😂 and the grin he gives her as he chews like a little demon child 😂
Masturbating to her in the shower? 🥵 I have to say I am shocked by his self control in the pussy department tbh 😂
HE LIKES TO BE THE LITTLE SPOON 😭🥹 the way he just tugged her wrist over himself and burying her hand under his cheek 🥹😂 She’s definitely getting used to him (unwillingly of course) 😂
I love how he just flattened the bed sheet for her when he got out of bed 😂 “Go back to sleep” - Yes, Daddy 🥵 And am I the maid now? Ironing his clothes and shining his shoes…? YES SIR 😈
Okay so now that he locked her in his apartment without her knowing he locked it in the first place…? Berlin Syndrome anybody? AND The damn Peacekeepers ignoring her 😂 they're like ‘yea no we can’t help you or your boyfriend will hang us’ - “What’s wrong?” “Hey, what happened?” - ???? 😑😑😑 ???? THE DELUSIONS OR HE’S JUST THAT SICK 😂
“She’s been with me. Who are you?” - Ooof 🥵 I’m sorry but Edmund and Coryos whole interaction at the house had me dead I can’t with them both 😂 - “Didn’t I see you next to my girl at the hanging?” - Yes. I am your girl 🥵 - “I don’t want him in the house if I am not here.” - Yes, daddy 😈 - “You seemed close with the maintenance man,” - Idk why this made me laugh so much 😂 - You think I am letting you stay here after finding a man lingering in your house?” - Don’t you just love a psychotic possessive man 😂
Man he really is impatient with her ‘moving in’ with him now 😂 how sweet of him to pack her undies tho 😂
Wow he really is isolating her now from everyone? Her boss, her mom and Edmund. My heart honestly broke for her mom when he was dragging her daughter away 😭🥹
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!! HOLY SHIT THAT WAS INTENSE! Coryo is definitely going to kill Edmund. Without a doubt (and he doesn’t know about the kiss 😳... yet at least) - “Kill them and you kill me,” you threaten, “I swear, there is not a single thing you can do that would stop me.” - I mean obviously he can still kill Edmund without killing your mom...
I couldn’t stop laughing at the fact that his gasp waked her up too 😂and look at him scooping her up in his arms, holding her too tight like she’s a stuffed animal and smelling her 😂 She is his source of comfort 🥹🩷
I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS BEING REALLY LONG AND I'M JUST KICKING MY FEET IN EXCITEMENT FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!!!!
p.s. I just realized I kept misspelling Mabel's name in my last reaction ask 😂 I went from Ma'bel' to Ma'ble' 😂
I was twirling my hair and kicking my feet reading this❤️🫡 I must have read it four times before responding. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Commander snow part 5 and S.lands on top both will be out before the end of this week. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I love them, you are genuinely so funny.
Hope your week slows down a bit for you! Also don’t worry about Mabel vs Mable. I spell it both ways too 😭😂 potato- poTATo.

Well considering the hunger games was originally meant to be a stand alone, I don’t see why she can’t also turn the Ballad into a trilogy…
Yes, I understand she wants something meaningful to write about when she does but there is so much going on in the world that she could pull from.
Also, there is so much left open with Snow at the end of the books. What happened completely between him and Tigris, what other things did he implement into the games, and hell I’ll read his campaign run. We don’t even have to bring Lucy Gray back, leave her a mystery with her song flying around his mind through the last two novels.
The next one could be about his first year as a game maker, now he’s really pulling the strings from behind the scenes, and this time he’s allowed. If he’s already in control, what rules did he find to break regardless. What goes on with him and Gaul. Does he eventually overshadow her and gets rid of her or does she stay with him till she dies?
We can see Mags games, and learn more about her. Was she silenced? I believe so. Those eels at the end of the movie, since she’s the district 4 victor, could be for her games. Who would be the mentors, since it was determined using students was a bad idea but there isn’t possibly enough victors at that time. Did they use university students, the game makers themselves (🤯), or other people? Does Tigris suggest the stylists for her own prerogative, maybe to help a little in all of Coryo’s hurt?
Did they use the same arena based on that throw away line about having cameras down there next year? Or a new arena all together? Do they still keep them in the zoo, only under better conditions, or somewhere else?
Speaking of, I saw something interesting stating that Snow turned his own apartment building into the place where the tributes are taken during Katniss games, bc it has 12 floors. If this is true, how did that come about and when? What happened to the Plinths? Did they ever find out? Probably not, but I want to see this dynamic as well.
Also I want to see what his offer was when he was running for president. Who did he poison, who did he trick and manipulate, and who was on his side? Also HIS WIFE! Did it end up being Livia Cardew
No matter who it is that is something I want to see after his catastrophe with Lucy Gray cause damnnnn. Also her name, Livia Cardew…Livia Drusilla. Oddly, Coryo reminds me more of her than the actual character. It’s rumored she used poisons to subdue her and her husbands enemies, both for his and her own person gain and rise; very snow reminiscent. But what if this is also Livia. Like he originally try’s to hide it but eventually comes to help him if that make sense 🤨
Idk but anyways it could be a trilogy, she could explore the corruption of politics and power in general. Presidential candidates lie all the time, they tell you what you want to hear, they manipulate others into voting and a lot more goes on behind the scenes that were just not privileged to know. She could explore that with snow. Power being corrupting could also be snow but it’d be interesting if it was Livia his wife. Imagine she’s against him but eventually she becomes like him as well because the power becomes her cloak. Tigris and Mags could be a call back to Lucy and Snow from the first book maybe, or something of their own. I like to think that Mags knew Coral and Mizzen they could both bond on losing the ones they loved. Mags about Coral and Mizzen and Tigris about (the old) Coriolanus.

Cruel World
*after being with Coriolanus for almost 8 years, you thought the trauma from the hunger games would go away but it never did*
i was 16 when i was chosen to fight in the Hunger Games. i was just a little girl, against an arena of teenagers bigger than me who wanted to kill me. i couldn’t comprehend the fact that it was my destiny to fight in the games. all until I met Coriolanus.
Coryo was chosen as my mentor, i didn’t really understand what that meant until he explained it to me in full detail. he was going to help me win the games, and he had so much courage that he was positive i could win. i was just a small girl, not a very intimidating one, but i sure was fast.
“wear something red, so we can match. i’m sure Tigris can find you something,” Coriolanus says to me as i rip through our closet which we share. tonight we have a gala, nothing that i am involved with, but i have to go anyways.
“hmmm okay,” i stare at every dress that is hanging from the rack, i’m not very partial to red anymore, so there is nothing. i could just have Tigris pick me up something from the dress store down the street? i look over to Coriolanus as he tries on different button up tops in his mirror, even though we all know he’s going to pick the same white one he always does.
i walk over to the dresser that stands in the open closet, clothing i rarely wear is kept in here. i’m not one to throw things away, especially clothes i know that i could pass down to someone. it is the district in me that never throws anything away.
dresses and skirts i wore after the games fill these drawers, clothes i thought suited me but didn’t at all.
i get to the bottom of the drawer and my heart sinks to the bottom of my stomach when i realize what it is. the dress i wore to the reaping, the same dress i was forced to wear during the games since they didn’t want to give me another change of clothes. i pull it out and hold it in my hands which begin to shake, just at the mere thought of being in that arena again.
the once crimson color looks more like burgundy from the stained dirt and blood that was covered in it. i forgot that i even put it in there.
“is that what you’re wearing?” Coryo asks me.
does he not remember? he was with me for the entirety of the games, how can’t he remember this is what i was wearing? i remember the side his hair was parted to and the color of his socks. Coriolanus was all i could focus on during that time.
“n-no,” i silently begin to cry, thinking about my young self, fending for herself to stay alive, all while people watched for their entertainment.
“where is Tigris?” i ask him, my voice shakey.
“she must be at her studio, is everything alright?”
“yes, i just need to see her,”
“the gala is in two hours, how will you have enough time to get ready?” my back still faces him but his worried voice comes closer to where i stand.
“darling is everything okay?” his hand rests at the bottom of my back, while his head rests at the crook of my neck to kiss it gently.
“yes, just emotional is all,” i tell him honestly without telling him exactly why. i think if i say how i’m truly feeling out loud i won’t be able to pull myself together for the gala.
“do you want me to call Tigris? she can drop off a dress for you,” his large hands begin to rub my back, as his hot breath lingers next to my cheek.
“yes… please. i have nothing to wear,” i drop the dress i was holding back into the drawer, my hands still shaking.
Coryo pauses behind me, not speaking, but just breathing against me.
“is that the dress you wore? in the games?” he walks to the side of me to hold the dress and observe it.
all i can do is nod my head as i watch him hold it out in front of him.
“Jesus, no wonder you’re upset my darling, i’m so sorry. i didn’t realize what it was until now,” he gently sets it back down before he’s engulfing his long arms around my entire body. i continue to cry into his chest, probably destroying his shirt with my tears, but i don’t think he cares.
“why don’t we stay here tonight?”
“what? no no Coryo this is important for you, we need to go,” i say with my cheek flat against his chest.
“y/n i am the president of Panem, i can do anything i want. and i’d rather stay home with you. why don’t we have some dinner and wine?” he backs up from me to watch my face.
“are you sure?”
“yes, i am sure,”

hi hello I just woke up so I’m sorry if this is not coherent whatsoever!! Anyway, *throws my headcanons at you.*
Coriolanus Snow:
Literal definition of just a little guy. Does he go on to be an awful person? OK YES MAYBE but for now he’s a little guy
Probably like a baby regressor. I cannot be the only person who saw him in the hospital and was like ??? Are those children’s pyjamas ??? (It was a hospital gown and I know that now.)
Has such a strong hate towards regressing like he will actively avoid it,,,he’s probably never would’ve done it willingly if Sejanus didn’t talk him into it like a lot.
Def regresses because of trauma. He’s lived through a war and never really had a childhood!! *shakes your shoulders aggressively* HOW ARE WE SLEEPING ON THIS????
He is such a crybaby…but like in the way where he tries so hard to bottle everything up because he doesn’t want to inconvenience anyone (no I’m not projecting wtf are you talking about?? /sarc) anyway he fails every time
It’s also always a battle to get him to eat, you must act like this is the most yummy thing in the world then maybe just maybe he’ll take a bite.
Personal headcanon that he never actually gave the plinth family that photo, like he had full intentions too but dude kept it for himself and would get a little sad and small when he sees it :((
ANYWAY GOING BACK TO CANON NOT BEING REAL BECAUSE ITS SAD. Definitely like needs baby stuff like pacifiers and fluffy pyjamas and stuffed animals. Because first and foremost he’d look so cute with them and secondly Sejanus would so have the money for it like dude would probably build a nursery
Coryo is so anxious to use said baby stuff because he partially thinks he doesn’t deserve it and partially thinks that he shouldn’t be regressing in the first place which like :((
Final thoughts is that Sejanus is definitely main cg I mean hello?? And Lucy Gray and Tigris babysit him sometimes
Sejanus Plinth:
Caregiver. Fretting overprotective caregiver to an anxious crybaby Coryo.
Definitely leans towards the sappier nicknames, “sweetheart, baby,” occasionally “kiddo.”
Will spoil Coryo to hell and back.
Not strict whatsoever, the biggest punishment this man would be willing to give would be a five minute time out. Realistically. He’s also morally against punishments so Coryo would probably have to do something absolutely awful to deserve that.
Definitely better with younger Littles, which is why him and Coryo fit so well together.
Realistically he won’t leave Coryo alone for even a second in headspace, one he’s just clingy like that, and two, he doesn’t want anything happening to him while he’s gone.
Brings Coryo his Ma’s homemade cookies. He knows this boy doesn’t eat as much as he should be.
:3 just felt a little silly goofy
also love love love LOVE your hc so much thank you for feeding into my new obsession lol
Pretty sure we have opposite time zones then hahaha Thankyou for gracing me with your hcs!! Adding another break because I just kept ranting about them hahaha
obviously, Sejanus would spoil Little Coryo for sure - and I've definitely thought about Coryo being a regressor from trauma and lack of childhood because YES. ALSO THANKYOU!!! THE HOSPITAL SCENE??? So glad we have mutual feelings on that because he was giving some strong kiddo vibes there
I always get scared to hc characters as baby regressors - I personally regress in the baby/young toddler area and idk I just get worried I'm projecting too hard so that was a pleasant surprise to see you hc lol - I feel like Little Coryo would be in more of a toddler bracket most of the time but then slip younger when he's tired or emotional - or god forbid, sick.
also thankyou for totally understanding the crybaby thing - he's just an overwhelmed little kid - literally anything could be the thing to push him into a breakdown - he's trying his best!!
and YES can we PLEASE discuss Little Coryo's relationship with food because herbfi;erbfuibf - I think he's difficult no matter what, and I feel like it'd be one of the ONLY things he'd 'act out' about - I don't think Little Coryo would really understand why he feels weird about food - definitely whines about being hungry but then won't accept anything offered to him - says that he 'doesn't like' something when Sejanus knows for a FACT he does - stuff like that. Also (as someone who, no matter how badly wishes they did like it, I don't like basically any fruit ever 😭) HOWEVER, I just have a feeling based on nothing, that Little Coryo would love most fruit. Like it's one of the only consistent snack options that will work on him
DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT THAT PHOTO 😭😭😭
Sejanus would 100% put together a nursery for Coryo and Coryo would 100% tell him to get rid of it immediately and then secretly adore it - the self hate Coryo would have over anything regression related is real
Coryo definitely plays very intricate imaginative storylines out with his stuffed animals and can never really explain it to Sejanus who would sit and watch and try to figure out what the hell is going on for half an hour
Sejanus my love - so overprotective - so gentle with Little Coryo. He absolutely uses 'sweetheart' and 'baby' all the time. In my opinion, he'd get so proud of anything Little Coryo does and would have such a hard time keeping his regression a secret because he'd just want to brag about his kiddo all the time. Drawings? Reading aloud? Eating? Looking cute? Sejanus is so proud of him! He wants everyone to know that Little Coryo is his! Sejanus would never do/say anything Coryo wouldn't want though - so he just makes sure to praise Little Coryo, all the time.
Completely agree - Sejanus would not be a strict caregiver at all - he does not see the point in punishing Coryo when he could explain why he shouldn't do something - especially when Coryo is going to feel guilty enough already for acting out
Also was thinking earlier about Little Coryo having a NEED to soak up all of Sejanus's attention and was thinking about how through his childhood Tigris had definitely looked out for him, but really they were leaning on each other - and also totally fending for themselves - Tigris was a wonderful cousin but she's barely that much older than Coryo - and then started thinking about how Coryo's mother died in labour, when he was already quite young, which would basically mean that most memories of his mother he has, she'd be pregnant. So pregnant mother and a father who's left to help fight the war when he's VERY young, then two dead parents, a grandmother who's pinning her faith on HIM, and a cousin who's doing her best to look after him, while he grows up scavenging and pretending he's not only fine, but actually living a perfect rich life??? The childhood trauma here is really unmatched - of course he's clingy and a bit of a cry baby when regressed, of COURSE he wants to steal every bit of Sejanus's attention!! When has he ever been the SOLE POINT of someone's attention? ughhh I can't stop thinking about all the fic opportunities.
anyway THANKYOU VERY MUCH for the hcs and I hope to scream about more of them soon with you lol <3

“Said”
Chapter 10 of Tigris Domesticus II by @rammyrue and @by--a--whisker
Sebastian Moran was the most contrary man Jim had ever had the misfortune to know, and the uncomfortable feeling clawing in Jim’s chest made Jim quite certain he wouldn’t have things any other way.
He kicked one of Sebastian’s large feet. “There’s a very expensive mattress through there that you’d do better to have the use of.” Jim knew he was wasting his breath as he said it - as usual - and he felt a twinge as Seb made a dismissive noise of agreement and got comfortable on a few meagre towels. Few people blatantly disobeyed Jim, but who else would do so in favour of an uncomfortable night on the bathroom floor?
Jim lightly pinched one of Seb’s nipples. They’d clearly healed a bit already, but were still a tender, puffy pink. Sebastian hissed, throwing him an unimpressed look.
“Don’t think a night on the floor is going to earn you any sympathy,” Jim said. “Kitchen’s due to be finished tomorrow, and however long it takes, I’m expecting you to cook afterwards. Your little holiday is over.” Sebastian grunted.
Jim wavered. “I suppose if you’re staying you can make yourself useful. No reason why we should both suffer the floor.”
Sebastian had only half managed to raise his brows questioningly when he found his chest plastered with a pointy, little consulting criminal. Jim wriggled, getting comfortable and closed his eyes briefly as he inhaled Seb’s familiar scent. Jim was unlikely to sleep again, but that was no reason not to get some rest.
If he could. The shadow of the nightmare hung in the recesses of Jim’s mind, not forgotten.
“You’ve got terrible taste in men,” Jim whispered as Seb’s breathing started to deepen. “But I wouldn’t trade you for anything.”
