Was that [KATHRYN NEWTON]? Oh no no, that was just [ROSEMARY WINTERS], a [CANON CHARACTER] from [RESIDENT EVIL]. They are [EIGHTEEN] years old, use [SHE/THEY], and [ARE] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long.
how long has your character been here
a little over a year! though, she showed up originally unaware, so in their mind, she’s been here for about four years after having been moved here due to her WITSEC placement.
what is your character’s job
part time barista, part time remote college student, occasionally volunteers at the library. they like how quiet it is
where has your character been pulled from in their fandom
the end of shadows of rose!
has any magic affected your character
yes! they originally had no memories of home, of her parents, of the mold or miranda. as far as rose is was aware, her parents were involved in some biohazard related death and she has been moved around through foster parents within WITSEC. she still has some signs of said biohazard affecting her. but now that their memories are back, they are getting a better grip on their powers and understanding what it means to have them.
and any other information you might find useful for us and the other members to know!!
would love if i could play resident evil without getting emotionally attached to the characters!!! it’s a horror game and my brain sees a character and just goes “friend!!” and/or “baby girl, baby.” so, we’re doing great!!!! below is a quick summary of everyone’s favorite blender baby mold girl and some connections/what her vibe is within the city!
mold girl! mold girl! mold girl! her body is mold!
no actually.
she uhhh sometimes oozes white mold liquid when she gets stressed/upset. she went through a lot of bullying because of that. (which– where’s chris redfield , i just wanna talk about why!! we put this girl into a normal public school when we KNEW she LEAKED and thought ‘this’ll be fine no one will bully her’!!!!! god!!!!!!!! she went through so much , she absolutely hated school)
she was taken as a baby by mother miranda to be used as a vessel to bring miranda’s daughter, eva, back to life. that didn’t work ! dad of the year, ethan winters put a stop to that, when any logical person might have just cut their loses.
shoutout to ethan for being an absolute determined fool. your daughter got that exact same gene!
she does not remember any of this, she was like barely one ??? but she’s heard a lot about it since because of the stories she’s heard about her dad.
she wishes she knew him, spending a lot of time at his grave. rose is always wearing ethan’s jacket after it was gifted to her, she refuses to leave it behind as it’s one of the only connections she has to him. she still has it here in the city, and still wears it almost daily.
after The Incident at the village, rose was placed into government protection, solely because the u.s. knew that she was posing a direct risk as a biohazard superhuman, but they went “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer” and knew they would one day want to use her for experiments to possibly use rose as a weapon for their own means.
rose’s entire life goal has been getting rid of her mold powers.
at some point, she was no longer being raised by her mother, mia, and was in full custody of special agents assigned to her. lowkey they were jerks. anyways
this is where shadows of rose picks up, when she is given the chance to go back to the village and find the purification crystal that will remove her mold powers from her, meeting her guardian angel within the “realm of consciousness" : michael. who we stan, we love michael, i will hear nothing else.
michael ended up being ethan LMAO
anyways rose ends up fighting evie in the mold, dealing with her trying to like tear her down mentally. and then after that they do !! fight miranda!! that's so fun!!
"ethan you pest" lives rent free in my mind, how much of a menace is this girl's father that even after death miranda is annoyed with him
and trust me , rose inherited all of that lmaooo
unaware life in dc :
rose believes she’s been in the city for about four years, despite only being here a few weeks. she thinks that she’s been moved here to finish high school and start college within WITSEC.
at the moment, she believes her parents were scientist who were involved in a biohazard disaster when she was a baby, and she’s been placed in federal custody ever since, considering she was exposed to the biohazard as a baby. she doesn’t know more details than that, and she doesn’t want more. she just wanted to be a normal person
she is very shy, very closed off, just because school has not been easy for her. she doesn’t have a lot of friends, and is afraid to let people get close to her.
would love a group of friends, but exists as a loner because it was easier than dealing with rumors, and with how often she has to move as a kid.
she goes to college, but only remote classes, because it’s easier for her that way, rather than being afraid of what kind of flareups she’ll get in class.
basically, she’s here, trying to live a normal life, completely unaware of what happened in the village, of what happened to her parents.
UPDATED as of 12/12/23
rose is now aware, she's living on her own and trying to balance regular school, along with work and also being a student at xavier's school for freak kids. (she knows it's not the name but she does call it that in their head at times)
pining after their best friend, they don't want to talk about it
spending way too long trying to convince her mother that her "sister" evie is evil and not to be trusted!!!!
it's not going well
connections :
foster parents -
would love for rose to have some foster parents! she believes she’s been here for about four years, so would love to have some people that she would have been assigned to, that would understand she’s in WITSEC, etc. so, hmu if you’d be interested in that!!
coworkers -
rose works at a starbucks downtown part time, and also volunteers at the library, so lmk if you want any of your characters to be co-workers!!!
friends -
literally, please, i’m begging!!!!!!! just real actual friends!!!! she has only had fake friends who pretended to be her friends to bully her, please please give her a good group of people who will just wrap her in love. she needs it.
res. evil characters -
listen. i just think it’d be funny if she befriended any of the lords just not knowing.

I'm thinking about the horror of the Doctor from the perspective of non-companions again, especially as it relates to people those companions know.
Rose? "Ran away" (not wrong) for "a year" (a week) with a "man" (alien) "twice her age" (approximately 50 times her age but yeah, he is Time Lord middle aged), and then gives absolutely no explanation for how or why that happened, except that she was "travelling".
Then when her mum does get an explanation (which, frankly, is only comforting because of the unfamiliarity of the alternative given. The devil you know.), Rose barely checks back in.
She almost dies for him. When she thinks he's dead, she's changed in a way her family doesn't know how to handle. Then she's gone for who knows how long and comes back with the Doctor wearing a new face.
When her original tenure as a companion ends, and Rose lives in Pete's World, she works for Torchwood/UNIT (they become the same organization). She volunteers for the Dimension Cannon. She explains to the alternate earth how to rig up a time machine.
She's changed in ways that no one else can really understand.
Amy? There's everything with River Song of course (though I'm still not there in my viewing), him running away with Amy the night before her and Rory's wedding, and also the connection between the Doctor and the Time Crack being the reason all of Amy's family's dead. Obvious stuff.
However he's also the strange man who broke into this child's house and made a mess of her life that she never got over, that promised to take her away from here, that she wrote about and drew and carved and made her friends dress up as.
And they sent her to psychiatrist after psychiatrist without any help. In their perspective, to work through what she imagined. In her perspective, to tell her that her reality wasn't real.
And then he comes back.
And to some extent, later, when he shows himself to everyone, isn't that more frightening? That the story your child told you, of the strange man she met as a child, of time travel, of nearly being stolen away, hadn't been a lie, or a misinterpretation, or an imagining?
And so he shows up at her wedding. And steals her away again.
Donna I feel like has the least horror until her final episode. I think exploring the in between section of her meeting the Doctor and finding him again would be interesting, but not exactly horror. More an exploration of how obsessive the companions can get about him, how it eats their whole lives with even one encounter, even as it makes them better people.
And then, obviously, the horror of having your mind altered and erased against your will by someone you trusted. For your own good, of course. Because he knows best. How could you know better than him? He's ancient. He's practically all knowing.
Shouldn't you be grateful?
(And he's forgiven.)

A large burning canvas could be seen in the distance.
The neat fingers, full of small dents from the friction of the sword handle, caught a small flame, which immediately went out from faint pressure.
There was silence, a living silence, one of those that strains with its sound. A warm wind heated his battered, but carefully polished armor.
"You want to say something"
"I want" Blurr answered, turning sharply to the dark silhouette behind him that was quietly watching him until now. He clenched his fist with a grinding sound, where the spark died out, and demonstratively opened it towards the darkness. "And this is how you are paid for making the world freer! This is what remains of your legacy, and you react as if it doesn’t concern you at all!"
"It does not concern me anymore" the figure answered him calmly.
"Shockwave, stop!"
"Is that an order?"
"It's a request” His angry expression made it clear that this request was an obligation. “I just don't recognize you for these few months." His hand shook slightly with anger. Black smoke seeped through the cracks in his armor.
"I don't recognize myself for even longer time." Blurr visibly trembled at these words, realizing where the dialogue was leading. Shockwave slowly approached, his long, deformed fingers, three times longer than one of Blurr's fingers, carefully reached out to his hand and wrapped his palms in his huge paws, kneeling down to be on the same level with him. "Blurr, I-"
Blurr turned his head away so as not to see one piercing, but such a swampy dim light of his terrifying eye, which had become more precious to him than his weekly knightly brigandage. "Shut up. It's too early, we haven't agreed on when exactly to do this"
The dull mass of metal, which was only a tangible casing, after some hope of catching at least a spark of doubt, only lowered its head heavily. The crackling of the fire continued to be heard around. The soot reached them, gifting them with at least some warm light among the shades of cold before dying. Realization, regret, reluctance were not reflected in the knight's optics. His armor, always proudly looking into the face of danger, now reflected only the cowardly lights of the fire from behind. Despite this, he did not remove his hand from the strong lock until the blades themselves parted. Shockwave disappeared. Disappeared as he had done for the past few months.
Blurr turned back to the burning wall. From afar were heard screams, squeals, grinding, clanking. The column of fire did not subside, as if it was fed by fuel from secret reserves. It had been burning like that for hours, as if to show the greatness of this building over others that would have left only a column of smoke long ago.
Shockwave's last school of dark magic was burning out, as was the will of its creator to live.
