So I just read Persuasion for the first time last weekend and oh my GOD I am fucking feral about it. The sharp asides! The social commentary on class and outer presentation versus inner character! The ABSOLUTE ANGSTY PERFECTION that is Anne/Frederick!!! I went through the entire Ao3 tag and watched the 1995 movie twice, and I STILL cannot get over it!

Okay I FINALLY finished that scene redraw of Skrael wrecking the arcadia gang's shit in Rise of the Titans!

I'm going to be honest I don't even remember where I got the original screen cap, it's been several months. This is probably the most intensive digital arts project I've ever undertaken but I learned so much from it! Despite the exhaustion, I'll definitely be revisiting this method in the future (though, perhaps for something more than my passionate hatred for Skrel clashing with my love for his aesthetic design).

This was a fun way to experiment with digital "painterly" styles. My first medium in art after paper and pencil was oil paints, so I struggle a lot with refining my digital art. I think I've found something here that can bridge my skill gap though!

Happy 9 years in this fandom to me 🥳🥳

I made this tumblr so that way I could start posting my first 1D fic (spoiler it’s unfinished - blame Zayn leaving) and try and make some friends in a new fandom. Very quickly I befriended @ashavahishta (because I asked for beta/britpicking help in my author’s note and she reached out to me 🥺) and I’ve been lucky in fandom friends ever since. I joined fandom during a really difficult time for me personally and sure! The nonsense that was 1D in 2015 was absolutely wild but it also kept me distracted from what I was dealing with and so I will always, always be thankful for this fandom for the people it has brought into my life.

I’ve seen Harry 4 times, one of them being ONO for HS3. I’ve seen Niall twice and will forever be bitter about the canceled Niall/Lewis tour with Fletcher as opener. I’ve seen Louis 3 times, once was for his album release in NYC for walls - WHERE I ALSO MET HIM WITH @crinkle-eyed-boo AND @onesweetworld18 AND HE SIGNED MY CD (and also swore so loud when he realized I was 36 weeks pregnant 🤣) I helped @londonfoginacup and @lululawrence and LOML Jenna hand out hundreds of rainbow flags in Iowa and then danced with Sus waving our flags the entire time and Louis kept coming over and watching us and then gave the SPEECH HE GAVE IN IOWA ABOUT BEING BRAVE AND TRUE TO YOURSELF THAT WAS FOR US IT WAS FOR US SUS HE LOVES US 😭😭

I’ve written over a million words in this fandom, 72 fics in total. I’ve brainstormed so many fics and read even more fics. I’ve been moved to tears and changed by fics I’ve read. Hell fic is what brought me to tumblr to begin with because everyone just had to keep writing this stupid trope where Harry and Louis have complimentary nautical tattoos and this company Modest is forcing them to be closeted 🙄 like what popular fic gave rise to THAT madness (it was them your honor. Those fuckers right over there)

I cried at music the boys have made. I’ve laughed at the dumb interviews they’ve done. I have a stupid teddy bears number in my phone because of these assholes. I’ve been woken up at 3am by a phone tree to let me know new music has dropped. I’ve been here for leaks and demos and rumors and it’s been such a huge part of my life and my identity. You literally can’t say “we are all moving in one direction” in front of me without me giggling.

I love this fandom so much. I love tumblr larries. I love my friends. I am so happy to have been here for 9 years and I can’t wait to celebrate more years 🤗

Shout out to everyone that has obscure crush, into obscure ship, in an obscure fandom... it's hard going to find our people, our fanfiction, our fandom. But fuck if it isn't worth it!!!!

I could go on about some of the greatest comic moments between these two (Waid's run, anyone?), but I've been rewatching the show recently, and was just thinking about something that goes along with this.

In episode 1x13, Foggy finds Matt at Fogwell's, taking his anger out on a punching bag.

Matt asks how he knew he'd be there.

"I've known about your outlet for a while. Figured it had something to do with your dad, so I didn't say anything. Now I know better."

Which is just a great character moment, for starters. That Foggy knew his friend well enough to know where to look for him, that he respected what (he assumed) it meant, and didn't confront him about it. Heck, just that he knows as much about Matt's past as he does (even if the Daredevil reveal was only recent, in context).

The scene goes on, and Foggy tells Matt that he nodded, but then asks if Matt could tell, to which Matt says he could. And maybe I'm reading too much into, but I detected a hint of hesitation from Matt when he told him, yes, he knew Foggy had nodded. Maybe out of habit, from always playing up his blindness for the sake of not revealing his abilities. But perhaps also because Matt appreciated how considerate Foggy always tried to be with Matt, and maybe Matt didn't want to ruin that thing that they'd had since they met.

And finally, as the scene comes to a close, their conversation escalates as Matt reaffirms that he needs to go after Fisk with his fists, and Foggy reminds him how that almost got him killed... how killing Fisk would destroy Matt... how Matt is a lawyer who believes in the law and doing the right thing with it.

And that is why (among other reasons) Foggy is so important to Daredevil -- as a title, and as a person. Because when Matt starts to lean too much into Daredevil, Foggy is there to pull him back, to remind him that he's more than just a vigilante with superhuman senses and a lot of rage, but also a lawyer, (a really good one, you might say). He keeps Matt grounded. He keeps him in perspective.

And in season 3, when Matt has buried Matt Murdock and gone full Daredevil, Foggy is there to pull him back. It takes most of the season for both of them to get it together, sure, but Foggy is the one who tells Karen he won't abandon Matt. Foggy is the one who insists on using the law because Daredevil isn't solving the problem.

Foggy deserves so much more than whatever the comics are doing to him (I stopped reading after Devil's Reign, and kind of wish I'd stopped before), or whatever I fear the show might do to him (if they're going to do it, please let it be a Devil in Cell Block D scenario).

I'm Team Avocados.

Some people love Matt and want him to be miserable, alone, and suffering.

Others love Matt, and they love a sad Matt, but they also want him to be happy.

Women? Yes!

Adrenaline. Blood. Violence? They are essential!

However, there is a small group that understands Matt has a heart that beats outside of his chest (corny, I know).

These Daredevil fans appreciate Foggy and understand that without him, Matt would never be the person he is.

Matt genuinely smiles when he’s with Foggy, and he feels comfortable enough to go without his glasses in his presence.

It's an adorable tiny fandom that faces a lot of challenges.

And this tiny fandom is where I fit in.

It's incredibly frustrating to wait for the creators of both the comics and the series to do the bare minimum and keep Foggy safe and alive. And reading a comic only to encounter a cliffhanger is so distressing too.

Foggy dies. Then he lives. But he dies again. After that, he's gone. They break the friendship. And then Foggy dies once more. He eventually comes back, but now with a different law partner...

Is it too much to ask for Nelson and Murdock to return to being... Nelson and Murdock?

Expecting the series creators to respect Matt's human side, respect his story, and not kill off Foggy is also torture. Sometimes, it makes me wish Foggy had never returned to the series at all.

Expecting fans to see Foggy as an essential element and to respect and love him like Matt does is tiring and sometimes frustrating too.

Reading posts from people who love Matt; the hot Matt, babygirl Matt, lonely Matt, etc... but hate the core, the core of Matt and Daredevil is a little disappointing, too. Understandable, but still disappointing.

So, yes, there's a teensy fandom within the larger Daredevil fandom dedicated to Foggy Nelson. This little fandom will never die, even if Foggy does.

He may die, but he will always come back... and then he might die again, and finally, he will live again...

But Foggy is an angel and angels don't die. (corny corny, I know)
