obsessed with the fact that baz is so good at seeming cool on the outside that no one notices he's never actually made a friend in his life.

at watford he hung out with his cousin (would have known him before school) and his cousin's roommate (dev made friends with niall and brought him along to hang out with baz). in carry on and after watford his friends are penny (package deal with simon) and shepard (decided he was friends with the group of them regardless of what they wanted).

this man doesn't know how to make friends. he knows how to have the same taste in friends as his relatives and boyfriend. and how to stand around looking cool and aloof so that people think he's mysterious instead of an awkward loser. i adore him.

It’s just that Fingon’s like that stereotypical son who calls his mum and walks old ladies across the street, mows the lawn for his neighbours, brings home nice, pretty girls who want to be kindergarten teachers or something and is really passionate about some niche compassionate topic like children in poverty’s access to multiple sclerosis treatment and who everyone says is ‘such a nice boy’ but then he goes and dates the eldest kid of Mr. Stay Away From My Boys, Son, a flaming ginger who most people haven’t heard speak. Carry On Countdown, Day 1: Creature

My first ever @carryon-countdown! I immediately saw this image in my mind when I read the prompt for day 1.

mmmmmmm post medical discharge ghost who’s struggling with the change, plus dealing with the injury that took him out of the service to begin with. he goes to all his appointments like clockwork, makes sure to keep himself fed and watered etc, but it’s all on autopilot. he isn’t really present in his own body anymore (unless it’s after a flashback or nightmare, when he’s TOO aware of the limits of his skin)

he’s spent so long just coasting on muscle memory, that when he finally gets taken out by a panic attack in the middle of physical therapy (or whatever the British equivalent of the VA is) it’s a fucking doozy

he can’t see, can’t hear, can’t feel anything but that raw buzzing emotion. he can’t fucking breathe, everything feels too tight and too loose and too much and not enough and he’s drowning

and then there’s something soft and warm under his hands. a warm wet feeling against his fingers (that doesn’t feel like blood for once). a weight leaning against his shins, a steady heart beating against his skin (that he knows isn’t his, because he can feel it racing behind his ribs). the weight doesn’t move, and slowly ghost finds himself settling back down to earth

when his vision clears enough, all he can see is a big bright yellow blob and the warmest brown eyes he’s ever seen. it’s a dog, a golden retriever, leaning all of their weight against ghost and staring at him with the most lovestruck expression he’s ever seen.

“looks like you made a new friend, ey pippa?”

ghost nearly leaps out of his skin at the voice. the dog’s tail thwacks against the ground and she wriggles with so much joy when she hears it

ghost looks up to see a man with the brightest blue eyes and a warm cheeky smile on his face leaning against the door frame. a leash is wrapped loosely around his wrist, the same color as the dog’s - pippa’s - collar.

ghost feels fully present in his body for the first time in what feels like years.

i think baz’s vampirism self hatred is much more tied to his mother rather than like the structural discrimination on itself idk how to articulate it but everything just comes down to him not wanting to cross that line. the line that indirectly killed his mom rather than himself, he already feels guilty enough as it is (he said in the first book that he’d usually visit her tomb to apologise) so this distinction between predatory-human-blood-sucking-monster and rats-blood-sucking-monster etc works as a way to help him separate himself from These Monsters, the ones responsible for her death

I love how Baz knew he was madly in love with Simon, and he still thought Simon was annoying as fuck. And was even more annoyed at himself for liking Simon. Like really? The kid I'm in love with eats fucking 17 scones for breakfast everymorning, goes after butter like an addict trying to get his fix, can't even do magic and he's the greatest Mage alive, and I'm IN LOVE WITH HIM?? And worse of all he's so fucking dense he doesn't even REALIZE it??? Like Baz thinks Simon is a fucking idiot– and then he doesn't kiss anyone until Simon because he's worried he'd accidentally bite someone, except he knows he'd never bite Snow. He thinks about Simon constantly while being held captive by the numpties because IT WAS THE ONLY THING KEEPING HIM ALIVE??
