How about "I missed being with you like this" for Wayhaught?
thank you so much for the prompt!! here is part 1 for this :)
- - -
Nicole holds Waverly until she relaxes her grip. She leans her head against her hand, resting on her elbow, watching close as Waverly recovers what is undoubtedly another nightmare. They’ve been happening for a couple weeks now, that Nicole knows of. She wakes to Waverly squirming, shouting, and does her best to pull her from the dark.
But Waverly doesn’t always return as bright as she left.
Still, though, Nicole holds her, promising never to let go.
      “Shh, I’m here, we’re here baby, I’ve got you…”
Nicole patiently waits for Waverly’s next move, next signal. Sometimes she’ll shift closer, burrow into Nicole. Other times, she’ll turn her back. And Nicole listens to her quietly crying. Sometimes Waverly will let her move close, drape an arm around her for comfort. Sometimes, not.
So Nicole waits. She waits for Waverly’s next move.
She’s still burrowed in the nook of Nicole’s shoulder when Nicole feels lips, just barely, against her skin. It nearly makes her jump.
“Nicole…” Waverly says, quietly, against Nicole’s skin.
“Yeah, Wave,” Nicole tries to keep her voice relatively calm.
There’s a taut string of unaddressed tension when Nicole turns her head to look Waverly in the eyes. They’re wide, full and bright, brighter than they have been in a while.
Waverly leans forward and presses a chaste kiss to Nicole’s lips. And Nicole almost floats away. Every damn time, this happens. Waverly Earp kisses her and Nicole feels like she’s ascended to a whole new plane.
But more than that, it’s been a while since Waverly has kissed her while they laid in bed together. It must be from the nightmares. Nicole understands - she’s had plenty of her own.
Nicole lets Waverly set their pace. She deepens the kiss and Nicole accepts, wrapping her arms around Waverly and holding her tight.
Reminding her.
I’m here. We’re here.
The kiss breaks and they breathe heavy. Waverly hovers above Nicole.
“I miss you…” Waverly cups Nicole’s face with both hands and the next kiss is light, “like - like this… I miss you.”

Wayhaught spends the day with Alice
Waverly was very excited to baby sit her niece, especially since she convinced Nicole to help her (which was harder than she thought it'd be.).
She texted Nicole eagerly that morning to see when she would get to the homestead, and to Waverly's excitement Nicole replied with "20 minutes wave."
Waverly had done most of the Baby proofing in the house with some "help" from Wynonna and actual help from doc, and Nicole. It's not that Wynonna didn't care it's just she is Wynonna, and she was freaked out about the pregnancy.
Wynonna walked in with Alice in her hands followed by dolls caring the Diaper Bag, and doc the blanket Waverly gifted to Wynonna.
"Here." Wynonna said as she placed Alice carefully in her sister arms. Waverly held her close to her chest looking in to her niece's eyes and making funny faces to make her laugh.
They had all left Waverly with Alice to go somewhere Waverly wasn't exactly sure she wanted to know the details, because when she asked Wynonna she was met with the face of excuses.
Soon enough there was a knock on the door, to which she opened the door and was met with a smiling Nicole who seemed really excited.
"I thought you didn't want to baby sit?" Waverly asked teasingly.
"You are very persuasive, and Alice is pretty cute."
"That's my girl." Waverly whispered as she placed her niece in her girlfriend's hands. She could get use to this. Nicole took the Baby in her hands gently holding her carefully, Waverly didn't know what had done it but she couldn't help but smile.
"I should get her a Bottle." She said walking in to the living room and then the kitchen.
"Ok." Nicole said as she sat down on the couch very carefully.
"Hi" she said in a whisper to Alice with a big smile. "Auntie Waverly is making you a Bottle." She said as she held Alice closer to her chest.
"Here you go." Waverly said handing the bottle to Nicole who helped Alice drink it.
"Your really good with her?" Waverly asked in a question statement.
"I guess so." Nicole said looking at Waverly, still holding the bottle steadily. "I use to baby sit my cousins when they where younger a little older than her, but I guess it just comes naturally."
"I like that your good with her." Waverly blurted out after a few minutes of Alice drinking.
"I knew you would." Nicole said taking the bottle out Alice's moth because she had finished.
"Soo... do you think she needs a nap?"
"Yeah she already almost fell asleep."
They both looked at Alice who had closed eyes and was yawning, Nicole got up carefully and, walked upstairs with Waverly. They tried their best to not wake her up but they failed.  Luckily Alice was really tired so when Nicole put her down in her crib she fell asleep almost instantly.
Nicole and Waverly quietly walked out and shut the door. "Come on" Waverly said now holding hands with Nicole as they walked to the living room. They both sat down on the couch and soon Waverly was curled up with Nicole.
"What do you think of being an aunt?" Nicole asked.
"It's weird, if I'm honest I never thought if Wynonna as a mom, but I think it will be fun. What about you?"
"Me?" Nicole asked full of confusion and doubt.
"Yes, you."
"I highly doubt that Wynonna thinks of me as an aunt to Alice."
"Once a part of the family, always a part of the family. Nicole you are as much of her aunt as I am ok."
"That's really sweet, thanks. Well, I think It will be exciting, and different, but non the less exciting"
"No problem."
A few minutes later Alice started crying and Nicole went upstairs to try to get her to go back to sleep, what she didn't know was that Waverly followed her upstairs.
"Shh." Nicole said picking up Alice. "It's ok, just a bad dream, but don't worry you Earps sure get a lot of those."
Alice continued to cry, so Nicole sat down on the floor back a against the wall, and continue to try to calm her down.
"Hey, it's ok. It's just me aunt Nicole, well according to Waverly." Alice calmed down a little bit but she was still crying softly.
"Do you want food? Umm... do you need a diaper change? You want Waverly?" Nicole asked looking closely at her facial expressions.
Her face was most relaxed when she had mentioned Waverly. She stood up as carefully as she could and turned to find that Waverly had followed her upstairs.
"I think she wants you." Nicole said blushing lightly, as she handed Alice to her.
"Yeah whatever you said aunt Nicole." She said in a mocking town.
"You said it first." Nicole said trying to defend herself the best she could.
"I'm only joking, you know your really cute."
"Thanks, but not as cute as you." Nicole said turning the color of her hair.
"I think she needs a diaper change."
"Do you want me to do it or you?" Nicole asked in almost a whisper.
"I'll do this one, but you have to do the next one and get me the diaper bag. It's down stairs."
"Fair enough." Nicole said walking down stairs.
"Don't worry, I'll change you and then you can get back to sleep." Waverly whispered.
"Here." Nicole said putting the bag down, and grabbing a diaper and some but wipes. She handed them to Waverly and walked out saying that she was going to make a Bottle.
Waverly could get use to this.
She had finished changing her and threw out the old diaper, and washed her hands  before walking down stairs to see Nicole with a freshly made bottle.
She took the bottle from her hand and helped Alice drink it.
"This is nice." Nicole said placing her lips to Waverly's forehead.
"I agree."
Alice woke up from her nap a little while and while Waverly went upstairs to get her Nicole placed a blanket on the floor for the three of them.
Waverly returned and set Alice down on the blanket and she sat down across from Nicole. Alice crawled around for a while before trying to escape in to the kitchen, luckily Nicole stoped her in time.
"She's fast!" Nicole said as she carried her from the kitchen to, and back to the blanket.
"Yeah, one thing she didn't get from Wynonna."
"That's for sure. Ok well I have to go change her back right back."
Nicole returned with Alice and found Waverly making lunch for them and a Bottle for Alice.
"Do you need help?" Nicole asked following Alice in to the kitchen.
"No thanks for asking, just don't let her do anything we'll besides crawl around and stuff."
"On it!" Nicole said following Alice close on her heals after she saluted Waverly earning a laugh. Alice didn't really try to get in to a lot except for a few things, but Nicole stoped her.
Waverly finished making lunch and handed Nicole the bottle as she put there sandwiches on the table. They sat down, Alice in Waverly's lap drinking her bottle as they ate.
"This is good, thank you." Nicole said between her bites.
"Hhm." Waverly hummed in response.
Nicole finished her sandwich and threw out her plate. She took Alice from Waverly so she could finish her sandwich. She put her on the blanket and turned on the news watching carefully to make sure Alice didn't touch anything or get hurt. Waverly joined her a kept an eye or to out for Alice.
They both heard a loud bang and stood up quickly to find Alice with tears in her eyes and a red mark on her forehead. Waverly picked her up and held her in her arms to comfort her, while Nicole investigated the situation.
"I think she just banged her head, she should be fine." Nicole said walking up to Waverly. "Yeah" Waverly spoke quietly.
The mark soon disappeared and she had fallen asleep in Waverly's arms while she and Nicole watched tv.
Wynonna came in and woke Alice right up at the sound of her mom's voice.
"Hey, kiddo." Wynonna said taking Alice from Waverly. Alice giggled and stared at her mom's funny faces.
"Was she good?"
"Yeah." Waverly said looking at Nicole.
"She hit her head on the wall, but other than that she is a great baby." Nicole said watching closely at Wynonna's reaction, which was a kiss to her daughter's forehead.
"She will be fine she tough. Right?" Alice just laughed at her mom's question.
"Ok well I think we could both use a nap." Wynonna said walking away and the coming back in the room. "Alice say thank you to your aunt Waverly and Nicole."
Waverly and Nicole both smiled and laughed, as they both thought about what Waverly said earlier and how she was right.
"This kid I'll tell you always forgetting her manners. Thank you." Wynonna said walking upstairs.
Waverly turned to Nicole who was still smiling. "See, I told you once an Earp always an Earp. Well you get what I mean."
"I do. You know I could get use to this."
"So could I." Waverly said as she pulled Nicole in to a kiss that was full of love.

Wayhaught ficlet.
The creature bared sharp teeth, black fur raising to ward off any threat that might It swished its tail and glared at Waverly through the bars of its cage.
“It’s.... a cat,” said Waverly.
“Yeah,” Nicole shifted the crate to a slightly more comfortable hold as she replied. “Thought you could do with one.”
Her smile falters slightly at Waverly’s doubtful tone. “I haven’t had a pet since Pickachu. Maybe this isn’t the right time...” Her arms come up across her chest, cradling a baby that’s no longer there.
“It’s exactly the right time,” Nicole says firmly. “This old place is going to be rat central pretty soon unless you do something about it. And... you could use something lively about the place.”
Both pairs of eyes flit subconsciously up to the window of Wynonna’s empty room. Nicole bends down to open the cage, murmuring soothingly at the cat until it permits her to lift it out and offer it to Waverly.
Waverly hesitantly takes the cat in her arms. “It is pretty cute.”
“The cutest.” Nicole bites her lip and sucks up a deep breath before continuing. “Aaand she has to stay here cause I already signed the papers and Calamity Jane won’t let her in the house.”
Waverly tries to fix Nicole with an exasperated glare but her straight face dissolves around the edges when met with Nicole’s sheepish grin. “Okay, we’ll keep her here for now. But if she doesn’t work out...”
Nicole clasps her hands together in supplication. “I promise to find her a new home. Promise.”
Waverly nods, unable to contain her answering grin.
“Thank you thank you thank you,” Nicole bounces forwards to kiss Waverly on the temple. “See you after my shift?”
Waverly nods again, and she and the cat watch Nicole walk back to her cruiser.
Sometimes she misses the khakis.
Bonus:
Waverly scrunches up her face and quivers as if she’d like nothing better than to stamp her foot in frustration. “There are rats! In the hay that you insisted on dragging here from Gus’ even though we have no animals, just so you could roll on it!”
Wynonna sniggers. “Roll in the hay.”

Damn it! (Wayhaught)
The human mind is truly the scariest thing of all. What’s more scary? When it’s not you driving that mind. Something is different, wrong with her. I can’t figure it out. It’s like a word that’s on the tip of my tongue that my mind simply can’t remember.
“Nicole.” Waverly’s voice pulls Nicole away from her thoughts. She looks down and sees that her pen has been hovering over the same case file for the last half an hour.
“Hey,” Nicole put down her pen. “I didn’t know you were stopping by.” Nicole walked over to Waverly and gave her a quick peck on the lips. Things were so different. Was this her Waverly? Was this whatever thing lurked just beneath the surface.
“I thought I’d surprise you. Since you’re all on your lonesome here.” Waverly wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and Nicole couldn’t help but smile.
“Nedley will be back any minute.” Nicole replied, though her eyes flashed over to the office where Nicole and Waverly had first gotten very well acquainted one shift.
“That’s a whole minute for you to put those hands to good work.” Waverly moved Nicole’s hands to hips.
Nicole felt her resolve crumbling when she looked into Waverly’s lust-filled gaze. “Waves...”
“Maybe you should stop talking.” Waverly whispered as she leaned in and pressed her lips firmly against Nicole’s.
Nicole couldn’t help but melt into the sweet kiss, pulling Waverly closer to her body.
Waverly pushed them back toward Nedley’s office door and Nicole felt her heart start to race and he stomach tighten. Maybe losing her job wouldn’t be that bad.
Waverly tugged on Nicole’s bottom lip and without thinking Nicole picked Waverly up and carried her the rest of the way to the couch in the office.
“This is insane,” Nicole breathed, kissing Waverly’s mouth and neck.
“Only from a logical standpoint.” Waverly countered with a gasp as Nicole sucked on her pulse point.
“Damn it guys.” Wynonna’s voice, almost like a physical presence, pushed Nicole to the floor of Nedley’s office. “I can appreciate a good work place hook up as much as the next person. But do you two ever keep it in your pants?”
Nicole jumped up from the ground and straightened her uniform. She looked at Waverly with a sheepish grin. “I’ll call you when I’m done here.”
“We need to get you a bell.” Nicole muttered to Wynonna as she passed the older Earp.

this prompt is from this post
-----
"it's not funny."
"No, it's not."
"Stop laughing!"
"I'm not!"
"Stop smiling!"
"I–I'm not." Nicole pressed her hand harder against her mouth, hiding her uncontrollable smile.
Waverly huffed, eyes narrowing in irritation, lips pulling down in a frown. She reached out to tug Nicole's hand away from her lips, meeting resistance as her girlfriend tugged back to press her hand harder against her growing smile.
Waverly poked a finger on Nicole's dimple. "That's a smile, you're smiling. I told you not to smile. It's not funny." Waverly's lips pinched, crossing her arms indignantly.
Unable to hold it back any longer, Nicole bursts out laughing, tears prickling her eyes in mirth. She reached out to tug Waverly's wrist when the girl made to turn around. "She–" she wheezes, almost hunched over laughing, clutching Waverly's wrist loosely.
"Fine, laugh all you want–"
"She just– she called you–" Nicole stepped into Waverly's space, pressing her face against Waverly's shoulder, laughter still spilling out of her lips. "Babe– she thought you–"
Waverly grunted, not doing anything to move away from Nicole's shaking form.
"—she thought you were part of the recital." Nicole finishes, wiping away the tears that started to track down her cheeks as her chuckles tapered into giggles.
As much as it pains Waverly, that did happen. They were attending Purgatory Middle School's public theater show, set in a makeshift stage near the Sheriff's Department. Her and Nicole decided to check out the kids' performance because "They're so cute, Nic! Remember when we were that little?" and what's Nicole to do but say yes to Waverly's glowing face? But when they walked backstage to see the rest of the kids prepare for their show, an old lady (ancient, really. Waverly honestly thinks she was here to witness it when Purgatory was first founded by her great great great grandfather)–who was apparently the seamstress for the kids' costumes–suddenly grabbed her arm and started scolding her for not being in costume, we only have ten minutes before showtime, missy! while shoving a mess of pink and white fabric in her hands. Waverly protested as politely as she could, winded by the turn of events, while her useless girlfriend just stood there staring in unabashed amusement.
It was an awkward exchange to say the least, Waverly had to explain she wasn't part of the recital and that she was a fully-grown adult, thank you very much to which the old lady countered with a not in that height, you're not all while Nicole watched on in mirth, lips pressed in an unsuccessful attempt to hide her laughter from her exasperated girlfriend. Eventually, they (by this, she means herself, because Nicole was no help– no help at all) managed to—barely–convince the old lady that Waverly wasn't part of the group and has long graduated from middle school. They also spotted a kid who's actually in middle school and is actually part of the recital, who's not in costume that Waverly quickly caught by the scruff of his neck collar to deposit infront of the old lady, whose eyes were narrowed at Waverly in suspicion, and bid them goodbye– while the old lady still kept on shooting suspicious looks at their retreating form.
To say that Waverly was not amused is an understatement. She wasn't even that small!
And now, her girlfriend is still looking at her with unbridled hilarity, breathless and cheeks flushed from all the laughing she did at Waverly's expense.
"Are you done?" She asked flatly.
"Aww," Nicole pouted. "Sorry, I swear, no more laughing." But the lingering laughter crinkling her eyes told Waverly another story.
Waverly glared at Nicole. "I'm not amused, Haught."
At the sight, Nicole felt the dredges of her mirth surge back up, the look on Waverly's face reminding her of an adorably angry Pomeranian, but she pressed her lips tightly together, not wanting to irk her girlfriend more.
"Okay–" she whimpered, valiantly tamping down the urge to laugh.
Waverly groaned and stomped her foot. "I hate you."
"Noooo, baby, I'm sor–"
"Hey, Waves?" Wynnona's voice cut off Nicole's apology. They both looked up across the road where the older Earp is standing beside the old lady—the seamstress' mottled and aging hand clamped tightly on her arm–with her face scrunched up in perplexity. "Why is Nana Greta looking for you?"
That set off Nicole once again, laughter spilling out of her lips in panting breaths, her hand reaching out towards Waverly. To what? She doesn't know, but the look on her girlfriend's face is absolutely murderous.
"I can't– ugh!" Waverly threw her hands up, spinning on her heels to stalk back to her car.
Nicole tried to chase after her, but she couldn't contain her laughter long enough to stand upright and walk. "Baby–" she tried to call out, her lips pulled in a wide smile, unable to properly articulate her next words due to her giggles.
Wynonna watched the scene in confusion, arm still trapped in Nana Greta's grip. "What the hell are those two's problem?"

Wayhaught: We’re An Extra Set Of Clothes On The Bedroom Floor
I wrote this little Wayhaught ficlet for the prompt: “Good morning, hope you don't mind me borrowing your shirt.”
It’s just a cute little morning after scene.
This was my first time writing them, but it definitely won’t be my last!
When Nicole rolls over and doesn’t feel Waverly’s body next to hers, she immediately thinks the worst. She wonders if she somehow scared her off. Last night was Waverly’s first time being with a woman, so Nicole would completely understand if she got freaked out. Before she can get out of bed and call for Waverly, she sees her walking out of the bathroom. There’s a smile on her face, so Nicole stops panicking. Instead of going back onto her side of the bed, she climbs into Nicole’s lap.
“Good morning, hope you don’t mind me borrowing your shirt,” Waverly says.
“I don’t mind one bit. You look better in it than I do,” Nicole replies.
Waverly wraps her arms around Nicole’s shoulders. “We both know that’s not true.”
“Well, I actually think the best place for it is on my floor,” Nicole whispers as she unbuttons her blouse.
“You know what? I agree,” Waverly tells her.
Nicole kisses her. “I figured you would.”
“Now that you got me naked, please tell me that you won't leave me high and dry because you have to go to work,” Waverly desperately says.
Nicole places her hand between Waverly’s thighs. “Dry is something you definitely are not.”
“Nicole!” Waverly exclaims with a blush on her face.
“You’re begging me for sex one minute and then you’re blushing the next. You’re so adorable, Waves,” Nicole teases.
Waverly playfully rolls her eyes. “Just shut up and kiss me.”

“Wider, baby. I said wider”
Set within a couple of days after the events of 3x07, but before the beginning of 3x08.
———-
Between gnome curses and a bar full of Revenants and, worstof all, Bunny freaking Loblaw, it’s been a clusterfuck of a week.
And when you live on top of a goddamn Hellmouth, that is really saying something.
It’s no wonder Nicole nearly forgot about her own birthday, let alone expect that there would be any time to actually celebrate it.  Needless to say, she’s certainly caught offguard when Waverly pulls her aside at the station that morning and asks if theycan spend the night at her place because she has a surprise for her.
Unfortunately, it’s a rough day, to say the least.  There’s a bad wreck out on one of the countyroads, and Nicole suspects that the Murder Trees might be involved, but it’snot exactly like she can include that in her report, so she does her best tocover it up with some bullshit reason for there to have been a full-grown oakright in the middle of the road.  It leavesher feeling frustrated and cranky and extremely glad that Waverly had wanted tospend the evening alone rather than having some big social gathering at Shorty’s.
When Nicole arrives home, there’s soft music playing, andshe finds Waverly humming along in the kitchen, swaying gently to the music asshe stirs something on the stove.  Theice clinging to her mood melts a little at the warmth that radiates from seeingthe woman she loves feeling so at home in her house and in her kitchen and inher heart.
“Hey, you,” Waverly beams when she catches a glimpse ofNicole leaning against the doorway after a few minutes.  “Happy birthday.”
“Well, I don’t know about that,” Nicole sighs as she beginsto remove her duty belt and boots.  “Butit’s certainly happier now that I’m here with you.”
Waverly opens her mouth to ask about it, but Nicole justshakes her head and Waverly nods in understanding.  They can talk about it later, but for now,Nicole needs to put it out of her mind.
“Why don’t you go up and take a shower and put on somethingcomfy.  This stuff will be done soon, andthen I can give you your surprise,” she says, leaning up to kiss Nicole on thecheek.  Nicole leans into it, and thenturns her face enough to find Waverly’s lips in a proper kiss before pullingaway to rest their foreheads together.
“Thank you, baby.  I’mglad you’re here.”
“Me, too.”  Waverlykisses her again and then shoos her off up the stairs.
The hot water washes away the sharp edges of the day, but aweariness settles into her bones and it leaves Nicole feeling drained andheavy.  She hopes Waverly won’t bedisappointed when her “something comfy” turns out to be her oversizedsweatpants and favorite academy hoodie.
Waverly is waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs andtakes her by the hand, pulling her into the middle of the living room, whereshe’s surprised to see that the couch and coffee table have been pushed upagainst one of the walls.  Her achingmuscles hope that Waverly’s surprise doesn’t involve some kind of dance party…
“Okay,” Waverly finally says, fighting a grin.  It would be adorable if Nicole wasn’t feelingso anxious.  “Close your eyes.”
“Waverly…” Nicole starts, unsure of where this is going.
“Nicole,” Waverly answers calmly.  “Do you trust me?”
“Of course,” she answers without hesitation.
“Then close your eyes and open your arms,” Waverly saysagain, softer this time, reading Nicole’s need for reassurance like it waswritten across her forehead in big neon letters.
Nicole finds herself obeying without question.
“Wider, baby,” Waverly says, and Nicole can hear the smilein her voice.
She opens her arms a little farther apart.
“I said wider,”Waverly commands again, and Nicole’s brow furrows, but she spreads her arms asfar as they’ll go.
She’s half expecting Waverly to jump into them, evensubconsciously bracing herself for the impact, but instead they’re suddenlyweighed down with something thick and fuzzy. Before she can open her eyes to investigate, something else soft thumpsagainst her face and she hears Waverly giggling as she staggers backward a stepfrom the shock.
“Waverly, what…”  Shelooks down to find her arms laden with blankets and quilts, along with a coupleof pillows and cushions piled on top of them. Now she’s reallyconfused.  She looks up at her girlfriendlike a lost puppy.
“Your birthday surprise tonight…” Waverly says, bouncing onthe balls of her feet, “…is a blanket fort!”
“A…  a blanket fort…”Nicole stutters, dumbfounded.
The grin begins to slip from Waverly’s face while she wringsher hands nervously.
“Uh… yeah.  I, uh…  I mean, we haven’t had much time to ourselveslately.  And…”  She chews on her lip as she looks up atNicole.  “And things have been prettyrough all around.  So, I thought…  I thought we could have a quiet night in?”
She reaches out and fidgets with the fringe on the edge ofone of the blankets in Nicole’s arms.
“I made room so we could build a fort with the cushions andpillows and blankets.  You know…  crawl in there and forget about the outsideworld for a while?  I… I downloaded Golden Girls to my laptop so we can havea marathon, and I even found a recipe for that ‘puppy chow’ stuff you told meyour grandma used to make.”
“You…  You did?” Nicole’s knees nearly buckle under the weight of the emotion that wellsup inside her.
“Y-yeah?”  Waverlylooks down at her feet.  “Is… Is thatokay…?”
“Waverly Earp,” Nicole says, dropping the stack of blanketsin her arms and throwing them around Waverly instead.  “Has anyone ever told you you’re an angel?”
“Ha ha,” Waverly tries to deadpan, though her muffledlaughing dulls the sarcasm.  “Very funny.”
Nicole picks her up and spins her around and peppers herface with kisses.  She should have knownthat Waverly would know exactly what she needed tonight.  This is better than anything she could haveasked for.
“Well,” Waverly adds, flipping her hair over hershoulder dramatically.  “Maybe once or twice.”

All That’s Lost Stretched Between Us (Wayhaught Ficlet)
The Homestead is quiet as Nicole moves through the space. She wonders if she always found it this dusty and grey, or if it’s merely a consequence of the current situation. It doesn’t take more than half a second to realize she already knows the answer to that. Her eyes track up the staircase as her senses flood with reminders of the way this place filled her with light and happiness, and something else she can’t bear to settle on, just a short while ago. The dizzying speed at which everything changed is something Nicole attempts to push from her mind as she moves on to the kitchen to see if Wynonna is around, willing herself to ignore the thought of who it is she used to come here looking for.
No Wynonna in the kitchen or her bedroom. Nicole is more than ready to vacate the house and ignore all the feelings it invokes, but instead she comes face to face with the very person who once made this place come alive. Her heartbeat trips over itself in its haste to respond as if she’s looking at the love of her life. Except, she isn’t. Not really, not like this.
Nicole doesn’t even get a greeting out before Waverly is stepping into her, reaching up to cradle her face and pull her down into a kiss that, just for a moment, Nicole lets herself sink into.
Standing there in the kitchen, kissing Waverly Earp with temporary abandon, she almost convinces herself things have righted, that everything can go back to normal now. The lips she presses back into certainly feel like Waverly, the taste on her tongue as familiar to her as anything she’s ever known. Yet there’s a tentativeness in the kiss that doesn’t belong there, that would never exist if things really were better.
She pulls back, wrapping her hands around Waverly’s wrists, so careful and so gentle, like she’s afraid of breaking another part of her.
“What are you doing?” Nicole asks, touching their foreheads together.  She knows she should pull away completely, yet for an instant she allows herself the intimacy of a moment that slipped through her fingers as soon as they got Waverly back from the Garden.
“I thought maybe this would help me get my memory back. Nothing else seems to be working.” A quiet frustration tugs at Waverly’s voice.
Nicole squeezes her eyes shut as a shaky breath leaves her lips. Everything that’s happened flashes through her mind, even though every fiber of her being wants to forget.  Painfully ironic, given the circumstances.
She gives a reassuring squeeze to Waverly’s wrists before letting go and stepping back to increase their distance, as if mere space will dull the ache in her chest. It occurs to Nicole that she could step back a hundred miles and it still won’t match the chasm she feels between them, the one holding everything they once were. A sad smile curls her lips, though she’s not entirely sure why. Maybe an attempt to put Waverly more at ease.  “I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to do that.”  She bites back the “baby” that wants to finish her sentence.
Waverly gives her a quizzical look at the response, unsettling Nicole with how it feels both familiar yet foreign. She’s seen that look so many times directed at the boards set up in the BBD room when Waverly goes into research mode, trying to find a connection between things. Nicole loves the light that comes to her eyes as she tries to puzzle something out. Only, she’s not used to having it directed at her. Maybe, Nicole admits, because she never wanted Waverly to puzzle over her, instead holding out so many parts of herself from the start, letting them rest in Waverly’s hands until she was ready to decide what they meant to her.
“What if it works?”  Waverly asks after what feels like an eternity. There’s a hopeful tone to her voice that is so very her, down to the core, even though she no longer is.
Everything in Nicole wants to latch on to that hope, give in to the desire whispering along her skin, but it’s the same kind of hope she felt the entire first week after they rescued Waverly, when she assumed her memories would naturally return after a few days. She was still brimming with hope the week after that, so sure of it as she slipped that infernal ring, her father’s ring, onto Waverly’s finger, but it didn’t heal her mind the way it had Nicole’s flesh. Now, weeks after, Nicole can’t help but wonder if it’s time to prepare herself for the reality that Waverly may never really come back to her.
“I couldn’t live with myself if it didn’t.”  She admits, voice thick with regret she refuses to add to. She can’t be that selfish, not when it comes to Waverly and her well-being.
Her hands ball into loose fists at her sides as she takes another step back. “I have to go, but, tell Wynonna I was looking for her if you see her, please?” Nicole asks, though she knows perfectly well she’ll text Wynonna herself when she leaves here. And more so, she knows Wynonna is going through her own personal hell with the fact that her baby sister has no memories of a life lived, or the people in it. Yet Nicole gives herself just a few more moments. A weakness, but it’s all she has left right now.
Waverly nods. “Sure. I’ll tell her.” She looks so lost that Nicole thinks it might break her heart in two, if only it wasn’t already in pieces. “See you around, Nicole.”
The way her name rolls off Waverly’s tongue the same as it used to has her turning for the door, desperate for fresh air.
“I get it.” Waverly calls softly after her, stopping Nicole in her tracks. It’s clear by the look on her face when Nicole turns back that Waverly surprised herself with the words.  “I can see why I loved you.” She admits, eyes pleading with Nicole for some sort of understanding. She gestures between them. “Before.” The word falls from her lips with a quiet reluctance that tells Nicole maybe she’s not the only one who doesn’t want to acknowledge all that’s been lost.. “You’re a really good person, Nicole Haught. I bet falling in love with you was easy.”  Waverly finishes, gaze dropping down to where her hands twist together at her waist.
A clock ticks on the wall, marking the seconds that stretch between them. “Thanks.” Nicole finally manages to get out, on the verge of breaking, just like the wall that’s been holding her emotions at bay for weeks. She forces herself to walk away then, afraid of the things that might come crashing through if she doesn’t. She wipes furiously at the tears that fall against her will, refusing to do this now, not while Waverly can still see her.  The knowledge that it’s not her Waverly who watches her leave twists in her gut as she makes it out the door and to her patrol car.
It’s not a mile from the Homestead that the sobs come and she’s forced to pull over. Her body shakes as the truth seeps in.
It might never be her Waverly looking back at her again.

Wayhaught Ficlet
“You sure about this?” Nicole asked for the thousandth time, pressing kisses over Waverly’s bare back, nibbling over her shoulders.  The brunette’s back arched under Nicole’s lips, the redhead laying on top of her from behind, hands stroking gently over her body.
Waverly turned her head, her expression distant and humored, looking as if she were in some Roman spa and found something mildly funny.
“You make it seem like I haven’t done this,” Waverly chided as Nicole kissed up the back of her neck before Waverly felt teeth tugging idly at an earlobe.  Nicole made a disgruntled noise at this.
“Well...you’ve done it improperly,” Nicole murmured in Waverly’s ear, the brunette practically hearing the Nicole’s smirk.
“Improperly?” Waverly echoed, eyebrows raising.
“Mhmm,” Nicole thrummed, pausing before adding in a rather nervous voice, “Uh...just make sure you relax...and um...”
“Yeah,” Waverly said gruffly.  There was a pause as Nicole tensed before thrusting forward.
*****
Wynonna propped her feet up on the table, leaning back as she took a swig from her flask and Momma Earp slumped in a chair next to her.  They had been out drinking all night and just had gotten home.
Both laid their head in their arms as and groaned, silence enveloping them.
Well, almost.
Wynonna frowned into her arms, head throbbing as she strained her hearing.
There, above them, grew the ominous creaking.
Wynonna huffed and tried to cover her ears but to her astonishment the creaking somehow got louder and soon guttural noises were drifting down as well.  Wynonna slowly lifted her head and watched in shock as the mug of coffee on the table in front of her rippled, the thrusting from above shaking the whole house.
Wynonna and Momma looked up at the ceiling in silence as a particularly pitched moan touched their ears.
“Do they...do they know we are here?” Momma ventured.
“Uh...” Wynonna trailed, a voice that was distinctly Waverly’s groaning, “Oh--Nic!”
“Don’t think so.”
They froze as the ground beneath them vibrated and Momma released a huff.
“What the hell are they doing?  Aren’t lesbians supposed to be like...not like this?” the older woman stuttered.
“Waverly is bi, Momma,” Wynonna mumbled, sparing Momma Earp a look, “and, they have a suitcase.”
“A suitcase?” Momma echoed, not following.  At that particular moment there was a shrill shriek--a mixture of pleasure and shock.
“OH GOD--DON’T STOP--”
“Yep, that’s some kinky strap on stuff,” Wynonna said hurriedly as she snatched up her things before marching out of the house, Momma Earp close behind.
*****
Nicole practically collapsed on top of Waverly, her lungs screaming for air as her muscles burned sweetly, sweat beading all over.  She planted sloppy kisses over Waverly’s back, tasting sweat as the brunette panted beneath her.
“How--” Waverly moaned pleasurably, “How did you do that.”
Nicole was panting too hard to respond, rolling off of the brunette and laying spread eagle next to her, the redhead’s chest heaving as she shot Waverly a grin, sweat beading down her brow.
“Just...gimme a second...” Nicole managed.

Summary: Nicole has a crush on her best friend's sister who couldn't possibly like her, could she?
Occasionally I write individual scenes and I'll later shove them into a fic and this one has been sitting in my docs for a while so I kind of polished the endings and decided to just send it out into the universe.
Tumblr media
Nicole sighed heavily, resting her chin in her palm, her elbow propped up on her knee. She smiled as the sun reflected off a bracelet as she watched a compact body being tossed into the air, the school colors of her cheerleading uniform just a blur and testament to the speed of her flips.
"Bitch, I need you to stop staring at my sister like that."
Nicole jumped as the bleacher bench she sat on bounced slightly under the weight of a visitor plopping down beside her. "Wynonna…" She cleared her throat, straightening her back as she let her eyes drift to her friend dressed in torn jeans and a sleeveless band shirt. "Hey."
"Don't Wynonna, hey me." Wynonna tipped a coke bottle back to take a long sip before looking over to where her sister was practicing with the squad. "When are you gonna stop being creepy and just ask her out?" She offered her bottle to Nicole with a raised eyebrow.
Nicole began to reach out before stopping. "Is there…" Nicole shook her head before pulling her hand back, remembering the last time she'd blindly accepted a bottle from the Earp. "Of course there is. No thanks." She looked back out at the field where it looked like the cheerleaders were standing around just talking, obviously having a small discussion. "And I'm sure Champ would protest me asking out his girlfriend."
"Wait…" Wynonna laughed. "You don't know?"
"Know what?"
Wynonna shook her head, taking another long pull from her bottle and wincing. "Dude. They broke up like a week ago."
Nicole froze, her brows furrowing. "What?"
Wynonna snorted before standing up, taking a deep breath.
"Wynn… what are you…"
"WAVES!" Wynonna screamed across the field.
Nicole's eyes widened in surprise as Waverly spoke a few more seconds with her squadmates before smiling and jogging across the field towards them.
"God dammit, Wynonna." Nicole ran a hand through auburn hair nervously, smoothing down her own jeans with a steadying breath.
"Please, you can only be an improvement over that shit ticket." Wynonna plopped back down, raising a hand towards Waverly when she finally neared "Lookin' good, Shrimp."
Waverly grinned, her nose wrinkling as she took the bottle from her sister and took a quick sip before wincing. "Someone's getting a little heavy handed with the Jack." Handing back the bottle, she looked towards Nicole, the light flush in her cheeks darkening just a shade. Or maybe Nicole had just imagined it. "Hi, Nicole." Her hands on her hips, she rocked innocently on her heels.
"Hi, Waves." Nicole couldn't stop the grin from spreading across her face. "I saw you finally nailed that kick-kick double basket."
Waverly's eyes lit up. "I did." Her head tilted to the side in question as her arms moved to cross over her chest. "Were you a cheerleader at your old school?" There was an amused doubt in her expression.
Nicole laughed. "No. I'm way too tall for that." She looked away, feeling a slight hesitancy before responding, the voice in her head that always reminded her of her grandparents reaction when they found out the truth about her. But, something about Waverly's honest eyes made her feel safe. "I um… dated a cheerleader for a month or two." She wasn't sure what to expect, certainly not the demure smile that spread across Waverly's face.
"So… you like cheerleaders?"
Nicole felt the heat rising to her own cheeks and she looked down, taking a steadying breath. "Well, it's certainly not a requirement, but… it doesn't hurt." When she looked up, she saw Waverly's smile widen into something less than innocent. "It's a shame no one at the games actually get to see you do that stuff."
Waverly laughed softly. "A little hard to get thrown around like that on ice." She shrugged. "I just like to keep learning, even if I never get to use it."
"Well," Wynonna pushed herself up. "I'm just here to tell you I've got plans with Henry and Nicole here was nice enough to offer you a ride."
Nicole whipped her head to the side to look at Wynonna who gave her a very non-discrete wink.
Waverly must have noticed because she quickly spoke up, "you don't have to. I can get a ride from…" She was about to turn back towards the other cheerleaders when Nicole spoke up.
"No!" Nicole winced at the volume of her voice before getting a reign on herself. "It's no problem."
"Really?"
Nicole nodded quickly. "I'd love to." Watching Waverly's eyes turn into crescent moons as her smile grew impossibly wide, Nicole felt her heart skip a beat.
"Cool." Waverly seemed to hop in place. "I'm gonna get my stuff."
When Waverly headed off towards the locker room, Nicole turned a glare on Wynonna. "I hate you."
"You love me." Wynonna snorted, pushing herself off to a stand. "And you're welcome, Haught, but don't forget she's my sister and I…" she paused and gestured to herself, "am mentally unstable." She made quote marks in the air before beginning to move away. "Hurt her and I'll skin you alive." She called over her shoulder before hopping down the bleachers.
Nicole swallowed audibly, wiping her sweating palms on her jeans. She was completely fine admiring Waverly from afar, but she hated the fact that she had this ridiculous crush on the junior. Having moved to Purgatory at the tail end of her own junior year, Wynonna had been the first friend she made which was strange considering the brash teen had no friends of her own, having apparently antagonized most of the small town after a short stint in an institution. She really didn't want to lose that friendship, and dating a friend's sibling was the quickest way to do that.
But Wynonna seemed intent on pushing her that way and well, Waverly was…
"Ready?"
Nicole jumped slightly, seeing Waverly with a backpack slung over one shoulder, the letterman jacket covering most of her cheerleading uniform. "Yeah, totally." Nicole stood up, grabbing her own bag. Waverly was Waverly.
They walked to the parking lot in silence. Nicole had to stop herself from asking to hold Waverly's bag for her, her hands twitching just slightly but Waverly didn't seem to notice. She seemed lost in her own world, eyes unfocused as she walked beside Nicole.
Nicole tried to remember if her car was in one piece, hoping she didn't have too many empty coffee cups strewn all over the backseat floor. The SUV loomed in the distance like a death sentence and they were there way too early. "Sorry if it's messy. I…"
Waverly laughed as Nicole unlocked and opened the door on her side first, taking in the sight of the near pristine interior. "If this is what you call messy, I'd hate for you to see my jeep." Waverly cleared her throat. "Whenever it gets fixed."
Nicole slipped into her side of the vehicle just in time to see Waverly picking up a book that sent a wave of embarrassment through her. "Um…"
Raising an eyebrow, Waverly held it up for Nicole to see. "Haunting Muses… lesbian ghost stories?"
"Haha." Nicole grabbed the book that was being presented to her, tossing it over her shoulder to the back seat. "Ignore that. Put your seatbelt on."
Waverly laughed, doing as she was told. "Yes, Sheriff."
Nicole rolled her eyes as she backed out of the stall. "Yeah right. Do I look like an old man in a cowboy hat?"
"Far from it." Waverly turned towards Nicole, eyes narrowing as she grinned. "I think you'd look great in a stetson," she paused before nodding. "Yeah. A white one… straw. You'd look stunning." Clearing her throat, she turned to look out the window. "Not that you don't always..."
Nicole swallowed audibly. She didn't want to risk thinking about that too much, lest she drive right into a brick wall.
It was a bit of a ride and Nicole let Waverly mess with the radio. It took everything in Nicole to keep her eyes on the road as Waverly sang along to Spice Girls. She tried not to focus too much on the words "if you want to be my lover" passing through Waverly's lips.
It was a pleasant yet excruciating ride and Nicole wasn't sure if she was happy or disappointed as she pulled up to the McCreedy farm. "Finally, I get my radio back." She commented with a chuckle.
"Shut up. You loved it." Waverly grinned before clearing her throat. "Hey, um," she began, taking a moment before continuing, "Can you help me with something inside?" She sniffled, playing with the edge of her sleeve.
Risking a glance to her side, Nicole took a second to process the request before nodding. "Yeah, no problem."
She wasn't actually sure what was going on, just that she was gladly following Waverly up the stairs and to the room that was right next to Wynonna's. She noticed Waverly was checking the house, as if looking to see if anyone else was home before she was pushing Nicole into her room.
"Waves… what," Nicole turned when she heard the door click shut.
"Sorry." Waverly leaned back against her bedroom door, watching Nicole. "It's not something that I needed help with per se, so much as something I wanted to ask you."
Nicole froze, feeling a wave of nervousness rush through her. "Ok." She looked around. "What did you need to ask?"
"Well…" Waverly pursed her lips, as if trying to decide what to do. "I had a tiny bit of a revelation over the Summer and my brain has been going around in circles trying to find the best way to bring this up and...well…"
"Whatever it is, Waves, you can tell me."
"Will you go to the pre-season party with me?" Waverly blurted out suddenly.
Nicole blinked. She couldn't have heard what she just heard, but the impact of it shook her to the core and she took a step back in reaction.
"Shit, you're freaking out." Waverly took a step forward. "I just… I wanted to tell you the truth and I just…"
"I'm not freaking out." Nicole blurted out. "I just… you can't possibly mean me…"
Waverly's eyebrows shot up. "I mean… sure it could just be a coincidence that as soon as you showed up in town, I started questioning everything I knew about myself and what I thought I wanted and needed to be happy." Stepping closer to shorten the space between them, Waverly gave her a smile. "And I'm sure it's a coincidence that someone as amazing as you appears and I realize that the relationship I'd been in for almost 2 years was complete trash…"
"Waves…"
"Unless what you're saying is you want to be the only special unicorn in school…"
Nicole blinked. "What? That's not what I mean, it's just…" She shook her head, unsure of what exactly to say. "We're just so different and I… I just…"
Another step forward and Waverly let her hand fall on Nicole's wrist. "Different isn't always bad, is it?"
"Well… I mean… you wear short skirts and I wear t-shirts… you're cheer captain and I'm," Nicole pursed her lips, "I'm on the bleachers."
Waverly's body tensed and she took a step back, eyes narrowing. "Did… did you just quote Taylor Swift?"
Nicole dipped her head, unable to stop the grin from taking over. "I plead the fifth?"
"Well," Waverly stepped forward, this time fully invading Nicole's personal bubble. "You can't. This is Canada."
Nicole felt the blush rise in her cheeks as a fingertip curled under her chin, drawing her face up to look into a curious gaze. "Waverly…"
Waverly gave her a small smile before pushing up to the tips of her toes, meeting soft lips for a kiss.
Nicole's breath caught in her throat in surprise, but she only allowed it to control her for a brief second before she let her eyes slide closed and her arm wrapped around Waverly's waist. She felt Waverly press close just as the door burst open.
"Hey W...haat the hell are you doing to my sister?" Wynonna's hands went to her hip.
Nicole jumped back almost instantly, her hand coming up to cover her mouth. What the hell had she been thinking?
Waverly, on the other hand, looked beyond irritated. "God dammit Wynonna. Aren't you supposed to be with Henry?" Her hands were balled up into fists at her sides. "Maybe knock next time?" She was pushing her sister backwards.
"Hey!" Wynonna stumbled backwards and Waverly closed the door in her face. "Make sure to use protection!" Wynonna screamed through the door.
Nicole felt like she was going to throw up. Waverly had kissed her, and God it was a kiss. She could still feel the warmth of the body that had been pressed against her, but then Wynonna had come in and the guilt began to compound. She'd kissed her best friend's little sister. Oh God.
"Hey." Waverly's hand cupped Nicole's jaw, worried eyes capturing Nicole's gaze. "She's just messing with you."
"Waverly I…" Nicole swallowed audibly. "I didn't mean to…"
"Well I did." Waverly interrupted her. "I know you two are friends but, that doesn't mean we can't…"
Nicole looked down as Waverly's free hand closed around her wrist and lifted her hand up to rest on Waverly's waist. There was a tiny voice in her mind telling her she had to stop and a pounding in her chest that seemed to interfere with her ability to breathe. "I just…"
Waverly brushed her lips along the edge of Nicole's jaw, her hand sliding behind Nicole's neck. "I just wish you would stop worrying about anyone except the two of us."
That seemed like the best course of action, Nicole thought as she felt the pressure applied to the back of her neck and she allowed herself to be pulled forward, her eyes fluttering closed once more. She was a little more prepared for the kiss this time and felt herself sinking into Waverly's embrace. With the shock fading away, Nicole found herself melting, never having imagined anything could be as soft and delicate, but also the warmth of Waverly pressed against her was indescribable. She could barely believe it was happening, even as the kiss broke off and she was pressing her forehead to Waverly's, she still couldn't believe they were sharing such a small space of existence.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?" Waverly laughed softly.
"No." Nicole shook her head, leaning back a bit. "Honestly, I've been wanting to do that for a while now." She brought her hand up to caress Waverly's cheek - felt the pressure in her palm as Waverly leaned into the touch.
"So…" Turning to press her a kiss to Nicole's palm, Waverly looked up with a small smile. "The party?"
"I don't know, Waves." Nicole swallowed. "Do you think it's a good idea?"
Waverly stuck her tongue out. "Don't make me have to Taylor this up for you." She wiggled just slightly, a grin on her face. "I mean... You will be the prince and I'll be the princess. It's a love story, baby, just say yes." She sung along jokingly.
"Shhh. Ok, just no more Taylor." Nicole laughed, leaning forward for another kiss.

"I love you. Never forget that, okay?"
This is a two-parter, so this first prompt will be followed by part 2/second prompt, which I will post in a moment
- - -
She dreams of dark. Nightmare is too kind a word for what Waverly sees when she closes her eyes at night.
She dreams of a life where Jolene conquered. A non-life, really. Shackled to the ground in some gruesome place. Jolene parading by with Nicole on her arm.
She dreams of Champ, and the absence of Nicole. What may have been, had Nicole Haught never moved to the Ghost River Triangle. Everything is muted. Colors seem to fade more every day. And when Champ kisses her, it tastes like lies.
But more than anything else, she dreams of Nicole.
She gasps and lightning cracks. A railish figure holds Nicole by the neck, grasped tight. Nicole struggles. Waverly tries to reach, but she’s stuck, can’t move…
“Waverly,” the ragged creature hisses. His voice is familiar now. She recognizes… He’s been here before. Visited her life too often.
“Nicole!” Waverly reaches for her love again, but He pulls back.
“She’s mine, now, Waverly,” His voice crawls like a serpent down Waverly’s spine.
“No, no, please! I’ll do anything, anything!” Waverly shouts and thunder booms and she starts to sink into nothingness.
“Waverly…” Nicole’s voice is hoarse, quiet, as the hand that grips her neck cinches tighter. “Waverly… I love you, s-so much,” she’s gasping for air and Waverly’s tears fall. “Never forget that, p-please…”
The nothing overwhelms, envelopes her completely. Nicole is gone. He’s gone. Waverly is…
Somewhere.
Where…
“Waverly?”
Somewhere.
“Waverly, baby wake up,” a worried voice.
Eyes open. Red. Nicole.
“Wave, baby, you were shouting.” Nicole’s hand strokes Waverly’s face so softly. Like maybe she’ll break. Waverly thinks she just might, but with Nicole’s steady touch, the fear of shattering starts to dissipate, slowly.
There aren’t any words. Not yet. Waverly wraps her arms around Nicole’s neck and pulls her close, down, so she can bury her nose in Nicole’s hair. It smells like lavender and vanilla, soft from a recent shower. The feeling of safety that always comes with being in Nicole’s arms, in her bed, starts to return.

Chronological order with summaries after the cut.
In chronological order:
we will rise above all the ash
Summary: everybody thinks about family a little differently. the scooby gang is no different. here are six brief character studies on thoughts on family.
part of 'our family of choice au' but can also stand alone - the darkest country road
Summary: One revenant left. There’s only one revenant left to make his peace before they finally, finally, end this godforsaken curse. Before they can breathe a little easier. Before they can begin to heal after so many years of fighting, fighting, fighting.
Before Alice can come home.
They just have to find him first, and that's easier said than done. - take me home (mommy, i’m coming home)
Summary: It takes them four years to break the curse.
Four years to succeed where previous generations of Earps had failed. Four years of fighting tooth and nail for a future without fear, without the weight of the curse bearing down on them, all the while wondering if they’ll come out of this alive. But they do it.
OR
Alice is finally coming home and family means everything. - two of us (riding nowhere)
Summary: Nicole and Waverly are nervous about possibly taking on the responsibility of a child. Both of them share fears and anxieties. If only the two of them actually talked to each other about them.
OR
Neither Nicole nor Waverly wants to worry the other, so they play a broken record for a couple of their friends. - they say that time's supposed to heal ya
Summary: Wynonna isn’t good at apologizing. Honestly, she’s pretty awful at it if her encounter with flipping August Hamilton is any indication. It also made at least one other thing perfectly clear — Wynonna has hurt a lot of people and she won’t ever win a popularity contest in Purgatory.
She isn’t good at apologies. But she needs to get this one right. She needs for this one to be real and good and honest and genuine. Because she needs Alice to know.
She’s sorry. - love and security and family and maltesers
Summary: Nedley always said that there will be one case that really gets to you, that crawls beneath your skin and makes a home there, nagging and ever-present from that moment forward. It’s the case that will change your life in some way or another. The case that could make or break you as a person.
For Nicole, it's a case that leads her to a little girl named Belle and a heart that doesn't know how to do anything but love fiercely. - friends and allies
Summary: It’s been three days since the fight. Since she heard more screaming and hollering from her ma and papa than she ever heard before — and that was a lot. Sometimes they’d shout so much that she’d hide somewhere other than her room just so they couldn’t find her easily and start in on her, too. Three days since everything changed.
And today — today Waverly and Nicole ask her if she would like to meet some of their family this weekend. Because Sunday dinners once a month are a thing because family is important and so is the reminder that you aren't alone in the world. Except Belle just isn't sure what all this means for her when she doesn't have a family anymore.
OR
It's time for Belle to meet some adorable psychos. - this isn’t oliver twist
Summary: Nicole doesn’t notice it at first. The way that food seems to go missing like the sleeve of crackers from the brand new box that she bought over the weekend. Or the last bagel from the cupboard. She figures it’s Waverly taking snacks into the office for Alice and Belle on the days that Gus can’t look after them. She doesn’t notice that food keeps disappearing until Lonnie barges into her office holding the brown sack lunch that she knows his wife puts together for him every morning. - chase the monsters away (don’t be afraid)
Summary: There's a monster under Belle's bed. It comes for her in her nightmares, and she wakes up crying, "Nicole! Nicole!"
OR
Nicole just wants to be a good foster parent and protect and love the little girl in her care. Because she made a promise of love, security, family, and maltesers. - i’ll play my fight song
Summary: Nicole's radio crackles and the dispatcher's voice sounds through the static. "Sheriff?"
"Go for Haught."
"Purgatory elementary called, ma'am."
OR
It's Belle's first day of kindergarten and already Nicole is hearing from the principal before the day is over. - come on and play (what do ya say?)
Summary: “I thought it’s supposed to be a sexy cop outfit.”Wynonna leans against the doorway to the kitchen, already gnawing on a Tootsie Pop that has turned her lips cherry red. The hood of her rainbow onesie is pulled up around her head and she has her creepy horse mask in the hand not holding onto her third lollipop of the night.
OR
It's Belle's first Halloween with all the crazy that is her foster family and its adorable psychos. - it’s a brand new day (i know i’ll be okay)
Summary: “You know that you need to stop being dumb and go help your girlfriend, right?”
Nicole shakes her head and explains, “She got mad when I didn’t cut the crust off the sandwiches the ‘right way’. I’ve been instructed to ‘keep the peace’ until everything is ready and the girls are here.”
Wynonna snorts. “Yeah. She’s in full panic mom mode.”
“This is important to her, Wynonna,” Nicole chides, feeling protective even though she knows it was said in jest.
OR
It's a found family picnic/party because an occasion such as this is worthy of celebration. -
there’s dirt on our uniforms
Summary:  Violence is never the answer, except when sometimes it is. Like when it comes to punching Champ Hardy's evil spawn in the schnoz. Nothing like punching Champ Hardy's evil spawn in the schnoz while sporting some sick Buzz Lightyear light-up sneakers. - blue eyes, blue eyes
Summary: “So. Wanna tell me why your cousin broke Chump Jr.’s nose?”
Wynonna wants to know why Belle sucker punched Bradley James in the schnoz, and she asks Alice for the answer.
A follow-up ficlet to there's dirt on our uniforms. - fox in the snow (where do you go?)
Summary: Belle pulls at the knit toque on her head, trying to tug it over her ears, which are starting to sting in the cold. She waits, kicking at a pine cone on top of the snow. It sails down the hill, broken apart by the force of her kick and already brittle from the wintry weather.
She isn’t particularly sure that they should be doing this. Her mama told them to stay out of trouble because she had to run into town to drop something off at the station. She said she trusted them not to do something that Wynonna would do because they’re smarter and more responsible than that.
Does building a toboggan obstacle course on the steepest hill on the homestead count as smart and responsible?
(Probably not.) - driving away from the wreck of the day (and it’s finally quiet in my head)
Summary: The scene is familiar. The two of them, sitting on the floor and passing a bottle of whiskey back and forth. Both of them more than a little drunk. This time, however, they’re in Nicole’s office with the blinds closed and the door shut and locked, leaning with their backs against the couch.
Silence settles on them like a blanket. It’s suffocating, oppressive, and too damn heavy. They sit like that for a while, pensive and languishing under too much weight on their shoulders and on their souls.
“Today was hard,” Nicole whispers, peeling back the quiet just enough to breathe a little easier. - after the bombs
Summary: Nobody would say that Wynonna Earp doesn’t know how to cope.
They just wouldn’t say that she knows how to cope well.
Especially when she drives out to the outskirts of town with a bottle of whiskey, a box of ammo, and a long-standing quarrel with the Welcome to Purgatory sign. - we fight those demons (day in and day out)
Summary: It’s been three weeks since Wynonna turned up at the house with her arms wrapped protectively around Nicole, both of them smelling like cheap whiskey and looking like a rough night personified. Three weeks since Nicole ran into a hostage situation like a brave idiot, only to watch an entire family cut down in less than a minute. Three weeks of being distant and stubborn and stupid. They need to talk.
OR
Nicole is pretty awful about admitting that she needs help. - kodachrome
Summary: Focus, click, wind. It's Belle's birthday and time to play hooky with a trip to the big city. All she wants is a camera, a trip to the park, a nice dinner, and maybe some ice cream for dessert.
Nicole thinks that she can make most of those things happen. - beaches, music, family, and love
Summary: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We've been cleared to land at Jose Martí International Airport where the local time is 2:40pm. It's currently a balmy twenty-seven degrees celsius with sunny skies and no rain in the forecast. We know you have lots of options when it comes to flying these days, so we thank you for choosing to fly with Air Canada and we hope to see you again soon.”
OR
A Wayhaught family honeymoon. - all will be well
Summary: Wynonna is turning forty. This year, that means a party at Moose Lake.
For Nicole, it means everything.
OR
Nicole loves her found family and everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. - it's rock and roll (kind of love)
Summary: Belle waits patiently, watching the grin spread across the older girl’s face. More than a minute passes and Belle’s patience wanes. “What is it?” she finally asks.
Alice grins even bigger and belly flops onto Belle’s bed. “We’re going to start a band.” She says it like it’s the best idea that she’s ever had. Her blue eyes hold a glimmer of excitement, waiting for her cousin — her best friend — to say something.
OR
a tribute to the 80’s mixtape AU by gilligankane and thegaysmurf - something is fishy in this here town
Summary: “Harriet the Spy,” she reads the title aloud.
“Like that really old movie?” Vanessa asks and she’s leaning forward over her tray of meatloaf and mixed vegetables — because school lunches never change — to get a better look at the cover.
Belle opens it to a random page and reads the first thing that catches her eye. She looks up. “I think it might be,” she tells them. She thumbs through it to another page, green eyes quickly skimming over the text with practiced ease. “Yeah. I think it is.”
OR
Belle and Alice are inspired to become spies. - calamity jane isn’t bulshar
Summary: “No,” Nicole says firmly. “Absolutely not.”
“But, mom, where else will she go? Look at her face!”
Belle pouts and lifts the cat as high as she can to try to shove its face into Nicole’s.
OR
Belle finds a cat on her way home from school and of course it turns into more trouble than any of them expect. - sunbeams will soon smile through (good morning)
Summary: “Hey! You gonna help me or not?”
“That depends. Do you have a fire extinguisher this time?”
“That was one time and you were supposed to be in charge of the waffle maker.”
“It had faulty wiring.”
“You almost burned down my moms’ house.”
“Shoulda has a fire extinguisher handy.”
OR
Belle wants to make breakfast for her moms and enlists Alice's help. She's not sure if she would have been better off with or without it. - it’s not about your scars (it’s all about your heart)
Summary: "Why did we think a bar fight outside of Shorty's was a good idea?"
OR
Alice and Belle end up in the drunk tank at the sheriff's station. No regrets, though. They'd totally do it again. - with a little help from my friends
Summary: Officer Paten rests her hands on her duty belt as she saunters toward them. Her eyes look pointedly at the cling wrap box still in Wynonna’s hands to the mickey of Jameson that Nicole is holding. Behind them is a truck wrapped almost completely in plastic wrap.
“Sheriff,” the deputy drawls.
“Officer Paten,” Nicole greets as if they haven’t just vandalized somebody’s property. - can i be the kid for your soul to keep?
Summary: Sometimes sadness creeps up on you like a looming shadow that you don’t notice until it towers over you, blocking out the warmth and the light. Sometimes you can see it coming from a mile away, slow and steady like an impending storm that is set on a collision course for your heart and mind, ready to devastate you whether you're ready or not.
Belle isn't ready for it. She doesn't expect it. It knocks her on her ass and leaves her there to cope. Her family reminds her that she doesn't have to do it alone. - soon the fog will clear
Even though she knows that this, too, will pass, her dark days linger. Sadness still wraps its way around Belle's heart and mind and soul, and even if her family can't make things magically good again, they can make things better. Little by little.
A follow-up to can i be the kid for your soul to keep?.

Wayhaught ficlet. Waverly drives a drunk Nicole back to the homestead after the strip joint incident.
AO3.
It takes all three of them to get the revenant into the trunk of the cop car. Or rather, it takes both of the Earp sisters – Waverly hooks her arms under his armpits while Wynonna hoists up his legs – while Nicole, who can barely keep herself upright, rests her hand on the guy’s knee and does a spectacular job of pretending to help while actually getting in the way.
When he’s locked inside the trunk, Wynonna takes the driver’s seat of Nicole’s car, while Nicole insists on taking the passenger seat in Waverly’s red jeep. Waverly doesn’t protest. She reckons that Wynonna’s patience wouldn’t be able to endure an entire car journey with the company of the drunkenly babbling redhead on a good day, let alone after locking the potential father of her unborn child in the trunk of a cop car, so Waverly helps Nicole into her own passenger seat without a complaint and promises Wynonna that she’ll be right behind her the whole way back to the homestead.
They’ve been driving for about thirty seconds when Nicole’s voice pipes up, words slurred and her tone pathetically sad.
“You said I was in trouble,” she whines. “Are you mad at me?”
Waverly considers the question. It’s been a stressful day for them all – business as usual in Purgatory – and sure, Waverly was a little bit pissed when Nicole hung up on her earlier, forcing her to travel to every strip club in the area to search for the two other women without any way of getting in touch with them, but Waverly isn’t actually annoyed at either of them anymore.
“No, not mad.”
In a voice that is almost impossibly more mournful than before, Nicole asks, “Disappointed?”
“No,” Waverly answers with a sigh. She isn’t sure what the right word is to describe how she’s feeling right now but mad and disappointed aren’t it.
Nicole stays silent for a few seconds before, apparently forgetting that she’s already asked this, she asks again, “Mad?”
“Baby, shhh,” says Waverly, reaching across the control panel in the middle of the jeep to rest a comforting hand on her girlfriend’s knee, while keeping both eyes on the rear taillights of the cop car on the road ahead of her. “I’m not mad at you. When I said that you were in trouble I was just worried about Wynonna. I’d been trying to track you down for ages without being able to contact you because your phone was off.”
“Wynonna drowned it in beer,” Nicole informs her.
“Wynonna did what?” Waverly questions, though she immediately knows that this is what must have actually happened, both because she knows that Nicole, especially a drunk Nicole, would never lie to her, and because dropping somebody else’s phone in a glass of beer to stop a meddling sister from finding out where she is sounds exactly like something that Wynonna would do. “Never mind. I’ll deal with her later.”
Waverly rolls her eyes as she considers her sister’s antics, pausing the conversation to concentrate as they reach a red light at an intersection. When the lights turn green and Wynonna starts to pull forward in the car in front of them, Waverly returns some of her attention to Nicole and continues speaking.
“I’m not mad,” Waverly repeats reassuringly. “When I asked you to keep an eye on her I wasn’t exactly expecting the pair of you to go chasing down her baby daddy in a strip…” Waverly trails off, noticing out of the corner of her eye that Nicole’s head is starting to droop with the onset of sleepiness and that anything she says now probably won’t be remembered by Nicole later. “You know what? We’ll have this conversation later.”
“Waves,” Nicole says, suddenly perking up as she speaks with a voice that is much too loud for a conversation between two people sitting next to each other in the confines of a small vehicle. “I swear nothing happened. I didn’t even look at a stripper…”
“Shhh,” Waverly hushes, reaching out again to brush her fingers and Nicole’s briefly, before she returns them to the steering wheel. “I know.”
“You’re the only girl I want to strip for me.”
“I am flattered, truly,” says Waverly, chuckling softly under her breath. She makes a mental note to remind Nicole later that she said that, partly because she knows that Nicole will fluster in embarrassment at making such a comment and partly because Waverly is certain that she’ll be able to have a bit of fun with it. For now, however, it’s not relevant. “Now why don’t you take a look in the glove box. There should be a bottle of water in there. I want it all gone by the time we make it back to the homestead, you got that?”
Nicole reaches forward obediently, fumbling with the catch on the glove box before she finally pops it open on the fourth try. Sure enough, there’s a bottle of water in there (for emergencies – Waverly is a planner, after all) and Nicole takes it out and unscrews the cap before tipping almost a third of its contents down her throat in one go. Waverly takes her eyes off the road for just a second to glance across at Nicole, smiling amusedly at the way that a tiny trickle of water dribbles down her girlfriend’s chin from where she missed her own mouth with the bottle.
They continue the journey in silence. Waverly half expects Nicole, who seems to be a talkative drunk, to keep asking more questions, which she doesn’t think she would mind too much. Drunk Nicole is pretty damn cute, after all. But the passenger side of the car falls oddly still. So still, in fact, that Waverly is almost convinced that Nicole must have nodded off in the passenger seat until, just as the homestead comes into view on the horizon, Waverly hears a choked sob rise up from beside her.
“Baby,” she says, turning her head to the side and reaching out with her hand to rest it on Nicole’s leg again, noticing a single tear slowly roll down one of Nicole’s flushed cheeks. “What’s the matter?”
“Waverly,” sniffles Nicole, rubbing the tears away from her own eye, before placing the same damp hands over Waverly’s and squeezing her fingers tightly. She looks across at Waverly with those big brown eyes wide with sadness as she continues, “Please don’t become a stripper.”
Waverly almost has to laugh at how silly it is, how Nicole is crying over something so ridiculously unsubstantiated, but she manages to hold back when she sees how genuinely sad the look in Nicole’s eyes is and gives Nicole’s fingers a reassuring squeeze of her own.
“Not even thinking about it, sweetie.”

Dude it is I, your Brazilian anon. I am so sad, like real time, but I don't even know why. Like, I came to this other city to visit my friend, but I just get sad. I mean, maybe it is the alcohol, but maybe I'm just sad and what's wrong with me? I just wanna cry so much, my family hates me and will send me to another country so they don't have to deal with me, and like I super wanna go to Canada but it was never my choice. I just wanna be loved. Anyway, any angst recs so I can deal with it?
Hey Brazilian anon, hope you are doing well now. How about I recommend something short and sweet but angsty for you so you don’t get too wrapped up in the feels but do get what you’re looking for. I’m going to send you over to When candles burn out by CasualEarper, I think it will help a bit.
