Yuri’s Night is a global initiative to popularize topics related to humanity’s cosmic past, present, and future. Traditionally, we at Ratio join the program, and this time we have prepared a series of interesting topics that we will fly through together. The crew we invite you to join includes two speaker stars who you have met on our stage before: Viktor Danchev and Stoil Ivanov. With them, we will circle three main themes, and in the meantime, we will have fun with a special thematic selection of music suitable for a space party.
To the moon and beyond 12 people stepped onto the surface of another celestial body between 1969 and 1972. To this day, it is one of the greatest achievements of NASA and humanity in general. But despite this promising start, Earthlings’ space expansion seems to be on indefinite hiatus…
What can we learn from the great Space Age of the 20th century, and are these lessons applicable today?
Are private space projects the solution and what can we expect from them in the near future?
How are things changing in the aerospace industry today?
What effects do new technologies have on gear, spacesuits, rockets, and everything else?
Hunting for water. The European Space Agency’s JUICE mission will undertake detailed observations of Jupiter’s icy moons – Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa. Equipped with a wide range of observational instruments, the spacecraft will give us valuable information about the conditions of these satellites and the potential possibilities for life on them. We will talk about the mission and discuss:
What are the plans for Juice and what are the expectations of the experts?
What does the path to Jupiter look like and how are the gravitational fields of various objects used to get there faster and more efficiently?
How can the study of Jupiter and its system of moons become a basis for the study of other gas giants in the universe?
Cosmos like in a movie Space invites not only explorers but also artists. Some of the most beloved blockbusters in history, from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Interstellar, are filled with epic cosmic vistas, bold visions of the future… and no small amount of creative wilfulness… We take a look at some of cinema’s favorites -Space to discuss:
Which movies best represent space and our journey through it?
Which titles do scientists dislike the most?
In fact, how important is scientific precision in the art world?

Water molecules stick to each other due to a property called *cohesion*. Cohesion is the result of hydrogen bonds that form between water molecules. When you pour water to the rim of a glass, the water molecules at the surface are held together by these cohesive forces, preventing them from spilling over immediately. This creates surface tension, allowing the water to bulge slightly above the rim without overflowing.

As analytical methods get more sophisticated, existing scientific models are constantly reexamined. The latest to come under scrutiny is the way molecules are organized at the surface of a volume of salt water. Researchers from the University of Cambridge in the UK, and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Germany, found that electrically charged particles, or ions, aren't active on the very surface of the solution, as was previously thought – instead, they're located in a subsurface layer. The discovery will require textbook models to be re-drawn, a University of Cambridge press release explains.

Elusive predicted water structure created in the laboratory
Clathrate hydrates are complex water structures that contain foreign guest molecules inside a host water-molecule shell. A predicted clathrate hydrate phase structure has been stably synthesized in the lab and may play an important role in future material science research. Water molecules are made up of just three atoms: two hydrogen atoms bound to a single oxygen atom. Individual water molecules can weakly bind to one another and other molecules, changing their collective physicochemical properties. Clathrate hydrates, in particular, are lattices of water molecules that self-assemble around guest substances to create hydrogen-bonded frameworks. These frameworks belong to Frank-Kasper (FK) phases because of their geometric arrangement as close-packed tetrahedra. Remarkably, the framework is made entirely of weak bonds between water and guest molecules, making some predicted clathrate hydrate structures very difficult to synthesize.

H302 Structured water.
Coherent means: coherent (adj.) "harmonious;"
"sticking together"
Why cells need structured water: They will become too dense. 🤔

do you have any seadweller headcanons? : ]
I do!! SO many, in fact.
I'll say, one of my fave headcanons is that I LOVE the idea that, since it seems kind of implied seadwellers are not on the surface that often, all the violetbloods essentially live in their own underwater city and they just have a COMPLETELY different world goin' on down there. They're so divorced from surface world shenanigans, they essentially have this whole different culture, interpersonal dynamics, etc. goin' on it's just so far removed from what any of the surface trolls are dealing with LMFAO.
Funny enough, i think a majority of it would just be "first-world problems" kinda stuff.... if you've ever watched "Selling Sunset" I feel like it'd be just like that ASLKDJSA
