First city on my #8cities6days #roadtrip is Charlotte, North Carolina! The trees along the highway are all starting to bloom and it's #75andsunny... I'm in #heaven. In #Charlotte I stopped to have lunch with my gorgeous Aunt who I haven't seen in years, and had my first of many #barbecue dishes at #macsspeedshop! The last stop on my trip before #Minnesota! I made it to city number 8, but I had no idea what it was going to be until this morning... #SiouxFalls, #SouthDakota was a perfect choice! #downtownsiouxfalls is adorable, lots of parks, green spaces, and #awesomeart! I loved the #sculptures on every corner. After walking around I had an incredible lunch at @jlbeerssf323, so excited to discover there will be one reasonably close to me in #fargo... I'd drive an hour for their #pretzels and #bestbeercheesedipever. Perfect final stop on my #EightCitiesSixDays #RoadTrip! I've traveled through 10 states in five days! I have stopped in six cities, and on my way to this the seventh... Kansas City, Missouri! As I watch the sunset just after I entered Missouri, it just hit me how incredible this trip has been so far. While in #Jackson, MS I got to see these amazing pieces done by local children! The art project was put together by my friend's partner, who is an art teacher at a public school in Jackson. The idea was to discuss the lack of brown faces in the media, and so the children had to create a drawing of their favorite cartoon character as if it "looked like them". Said farewell to #Atlanta this afternoon, city number three on my #8cities6days #RoadTrip. #ATL was simply magical! If you #visitatlanta, it would be remiss of you not to check out #InmanPark, it's an awesome, super hip, young artist #community. While out #exploring that area yesterday, I stumbled upon this amazing, living, breathing piece of art called the @krogtunnel. As a #photographer, probably my absolute favorite thing to #photograph is #graffiti and #streetart So I was obviously in #Heaven! These are a few of my favorite shots from the tunnel, more to come on my blog. You can find me at olive2travel.com, and follow me on Twitter too!! While checking out the tunnel I came across an #artist at work, @letsgopaint. He was doing an incredible commissioned piece, which was a wedding gift for a local couple of the bride and groom's names. We chatted for a while, and he pointed out a couple other epic pieces I just fell in love with. Particularly one awesome artist who I think is a rockstar, so I had to shout her out. I love your work @70dot! Farm fresh eggs, Prosecco, silly chickens, and foxy ladies.... Perks of the road less traveled! My time in Aiken, the second city on my #8cites6days #roadtrip was spent at my friend's lovely #homestead, which felt absolutely like a home away from home. One of the many things I love with being #downsouth, is seeing the relationship people still have with the land and the #sustenance it provides us all. A healthy relationship with my #food, and a knowledge of where it came from is so important to me. About that road less traveled... it is so worth it! City number two of #8cities6days is Aiken, SC! Oh is it #gorgeous!! Swung through the outskirts of this little town to visit a lovely woman, who I just adore. She welcomed me with her always open arms, onto her sweet little #homestead. ...and I'm off!!! I had an amazing last few months getting to call #DC my home once again, but now it's time for me to keep moving right along. I shared the news with everyone recently that I was accepted into an amazing summer internship with the Student Conservation Association and the Department of Fish and Wildlife, but driving straight to Minnesota is way too conventional for my taste.... So I decided to make a ridiculous roundabout #roadtrip out of my move to #Minnesota. I am on my way to make a giant L through the country stopping in eight cities! Over the next six days I will be #traveling 2,626 miles, and doing a little over 40 hours of driving. I know, I know, I might be insane.… But you know that's why you love me!
