Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I absolutely love the recs you've given (you've introduced me to tomione, and I love it!) and I was wondering if it's possible to give you some recs in return? There are some books and fics that definitely have dramione / got vibes, and I was wondering if I could share them with you!

So glad you've enjoyed them! Feel free to rec me anything you want. I've read most of the classic recs in terms of fic and adjacent content (Cruel Prince et al), but I'll try anything that's well-written. My tastes run towards weird and/or audaciously creative stuff, and I can forgive a lot of weaknesses in plot on the grounds of (1) ambition or (2) character work. My turnoffs are instalove, protagonists who can't fail, and most Y/A (I'm not a hater, I swear, I just need characters who can say "fuck" when their leg gets chopped off.)

I'm also a fan of weird and fucked-up dynamics.(Wuthering Heights was my favorite book for a while, and as a teenager I wrote an AU in which the book ends on a long sex scene where Heathcliff fucks Cathy's ghost and then immediately gets murdered by Catherine 2.) Obviously, I am very normal.

Sometimes i think i left my jjk phase. Then i remember that Gojo is the most powerful force in his universe, but instead of exploiting that for his own gain or just sitting back and spouting wisdom at others, he actively leverages his position to challenge the status quo and make the world safer for kids, which is so incredibly rare in fiction. And i go insane about this series all over again.

I think the interaction between Kaiser and Isagi at the end of chapter 203 is very important and foreshadows how Isagi and Kaiser's (and Ness') relationships will change soon. Especially since Kaiser had to admit that Isagi outplayed him at the end of the BM v MSC game, and Ness' following freakout. Look at this panel of Kaiser holding ness by his hair, essentially making him bow down:

We've seen Kaiser do this on multiple occasions.

When Isagi loses consciousness, there is this (in my opinion) very significant panel of Kaiser simultaneously releasing Ness and grabbing Isagi's hair in the same exact way.

I see it as a sort of crude metaphor for exchange that makes believe think Kaiser will try to replace Ness with Isagi, who has now proven more interesting to Kaiser. Not just to entertain himself or act on any other sort of personal feelings he has towards Isagi, but, most importantly, to put him in his place (the same way Kaiser has Ness under his thumb).

This is idea is further established simply by how the last panel is framed:

Isagi, no matter the circumstance and how you put it, is on his knees in front of Kaiser.

Remember this?

He finally really has. While it happened probably not how Kaiser had envisioned, he still has Isagi kneeling in front of him, proving his superiority as the player who endured.

But Kaiser did have to admit his (small, but nevertheless) defeat, and knowing how prideful he is, that must have been a blow. That makes be believe that he will be working very hard to somehow get Isagi on his side and crush him into submission the same way he has with Ness.

As someone who hasn't watched Trigun I am naturally intrigued by the I Haven't Watched Trigun AU!

WITH APOLOGIES TO ANYONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY WATCHED TRIGUN

So there's a bunch of really awesome Trigun art on my dash on and off that's super compelling but I haven't found the time to watch it. Therefore, my experience of it is entirely based on vibes and what I can piece together from gifs and such.

However, I did see a post of one page of the manga that sparked a Dreamling idea. As far as I can infer, the world is a desert, and there are plant people that are kept by people to keep their cities livable, in giant glass balls hanging over the city.

I'll be honest, the dreamling connection wasn't much of a leap.

The gist here is that Hob is a prisoner of some description (perhaps convicted for killing the killers of his wife and son?) and is tasked with cleaning the city's administrative areas. He takes a wrong turn and doesn't realize he isn't where he's supposed to be, and discovers plant!Dream in his glass prison.

Haven't got much further than that, really, aside from a vague idea that the other Endless are also imprisoned in the other human cities scattered across the wasteland, and they set off to rescue all of them. I'd really like to watch Trigun, but jury's out on whether or not it would inform my AU or expose its lies 😂

I remember that in Katherine's season 1 finale, the Spring gave her seeds and told her to plant them when there was nothing left of the Overgrown. She did, and it eventually grew into a beautiful, gigantic plant.

The Overgrown was the empire of fairies. Otherwise known as the Fae.

This mysterious entity calling itself The Fae in season 2 presents as giant plants and mushrooms. It asks things of these emperors who are so reminiscent of the previous ones.

There was one in a snowy biome, one in the mesa, one in the ocean, one in a hollow as a mushroom, one on the cliffs...

... This feels like it means something. Do you understand what I'm saying or should I go back to sleep?

ur post about queerbaiting and the dismissal of people in fandom to critical analysis is so incredibly true thank you. i feel like marcille's writing in the anime has been super misogynistic a lot of the time and every time i bring this up all anyone wants to say is "well maybe this isn't for you! and you shouldn't watch the show!" like. i don't think this is about taste lmao, i am analyzing the text in front of me and coming to conclusions about the craft of it.

It is so so frustrating!!!!

It's like being at a restaurant and being served a bunch of delicious appetizers, but then one of the bread appetizers is literally just a plate of crumbs; and then when you're like, "Hey, uhh, why are we being served literal crumbs?", a bunch of the other folks eating at the restaurant are like,

"WELL HOW ABOUT YOU JUST DON'T EAT HERE THEN??!? YOU MUST NOT BE THAT HUNGRY, SO JUST FIND ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND DON'T EAT WITH US!!"

And maybe they say it politely, but "Aw, sorry, maybe this restaurant just isn't for you 💖" is just trading out an aggressive dismissive tone for a patronizing dismissive tone. It's the same message.

And it's like! I was honestly happy to move on from the crumbs once my complaint was acknowledged because the meal overall is still delicious, but then all these folks got SUPER WEIRD AND DEFENSIVE ABOUT IT, so now I find myself double-checking all the other dishes -- and, actually, you know what those eggs DO look a Iittle misogynistic undercooked!!!!

i want to draw dragon prince fanart but that means I need to catch up on the show and THAT means getting through season 4 which i haven't even finished bc i couldn't stand it (for the record, it was the poor writing and the very in-your-face childhood Asop fable type lessons that annoyed me into stopping watching lol) and now i'm like... i've HEARD season 5 the writing gets better and less... "Let's shove as many morals into each episode and be the literal definition of Tell Don't Show with those moral childhood lessons" but... i'm still hesitant to watch the show anymore... even though I hear season 5 is better than 4... idk anyone manage to get through season 4 and 5 and tell me, is it worth fighting thru season 4 ?? is season 5 truly better??
