General concept is that after the whole Tesla situation, the next time Independents were going to be born, the plants went "Aight, if the humans won't be nice to just human-looking baby Independents, what if we made it so they could look even cuter sometimes."

The smolification can be voluntary, but is instinctively triggered by fear or injury. The twins get better about controlling/resisting the transformation as necessary as they get older, but it's still there.

It’s not *technically* the plant boys’ birthday anymore but idc, its close enough & it gives me an excuse to finish & post some fanart for once. I drew this ages ago to go w an AU i may or may not ever post anywhere in which the timeline is a wee bit different and Rem actually gets to be there for the boys growing up. they form sort of a superstar family of plant engineers (read: mega nerds). Neither of the twins turn out to be particularly well adjusted, but hey. That’s Trigun!!

Also wow plants are fun to draw?? I wanted her to be a mix of the trimax & stampede style, so we got both the huge bug eyes and the myriad of tiny hands and appendages coming out of the back. Love those lil freaks <3

Update on my Vash sprite work! I've made a test sprite for the neutral/standard look, but the posture is still a bit stiff and I'm not super happy with the sweater, so I'll change that :) was a nice test run though! Some more sketches underneath what I could still do...its a lot, but I'd really love to do all? Best start for one standard, one complex animated one and then I have smth nice to show for my portfolio and can still do the others whenever I want to. (I also would really love to do a fake screenshot/short clip with background and all teehee)

I did these doodles a while ago and realized I hadn't posted them, so babies (and Rem) be upon thee!

Rem was pretty shocked the first time she saw Vash and Kni in their altered states. They were pretty young when that happened (probably only a week or so old), and had been scared by being left alone in a room while Rem had to go do something elsewhere. When she came back she had first thought they had disappeared until she saw the tiny wiggles coming from under the blankets.

Given Tesla did not have a chibi form, Rem was very concerned and confused lol. She adapted relatively quickly though, even if it weighed pretty heavily on her when she realized that Tesla was probably the reason why these Independents had these forms for when they were scared or hurting.
