I just read your "Blue Lock guys carrying you" headcanons and I thought they were cute!

I was wondering if you could write a scenario in which the reader and the guys get caught in the rain in the middle of their hangout/date?

Can you write for: Baro, Kuon, Aryu, Iemon and Gagamaru?

I don't know which characters you're comfortable writing for so feel free to leave out any you don't want to do.

GETTING CAUGHT IN THE RAIN WHILE [HANGING OUT/ON A DATE] WITH BLUE LOCK BOYS

CHARACTERS Shoei Baro, Wataru Kuon, Jyubei Aryu, Okuhito Iemon, Gin Gagamaru I will make part 2 if this got attention, which I actually might do, for now I will stick with what anon asked for! Oh, and I actually the date option, but I guess it can be seen as hanging out only as well... Well, up to you to imagine that! Also, I mostly write fem!reader, but sometimes when I wrote this kind of stuff it's gender-neutral friendly.

SHOEI BARO

"Tch." you heard Shoei as you finally turned your gaze away from your phone to him that was sitting next you. He looked pretty upset as he crossed him arms while you two were in a cafe, waiting for the rain to calm down a bit. It was clear he was upset by the rain.

You sighed and then gently placed a hand on his arm, "Hey, don't get annoyed now." you said with a small smile, he looked at you and then sighed. He had planned something for this day and how unfortunate for him, the rain ruined his planned.

"How can I not?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow at you and then looked away.

"Well, being all annoyed isn't going to help the rain to stop." you said with a slightly joking tone, he sighed at your statement.

He placed his hand on top of your head and then gently patted it, "I know." he simply said, he was still looking at the outside, hoping that it will stop raining soon.

"I really should have brought my umbrella with me before going out..." you said quietly as you looked down at your handbag, regretting that you didn't even bother to check your bag properly before going out.

Shoei looked at you and then shook his head, placing his hand on your shoulder now, "Well, none of us are going to expect the rain when it was literally all sunny when we went out." he said with his deep voice sounding somewhat gentle.

You were about to say something when he suddenly added, "I'm glad that you didn't get that wet." you stared at him for a moment before looking away, relaxing your body against the chair.

"But I am still wet." you said, rolling your eyes, a bit annoyed that you did get wet from the rain.

Shoei himself got wet from the rain but he was being more cautious about you, he didn't want you to get sick. "Yeah." he shortly replied, touching your hair that was slightly wet from the rain.

"We're going straight back home once the rain subsides. I hate seeing you like this." he said, referring to your wet hair which earning him a light punch on his arm from you.

"Do you really have to use the word, hate?" you asked, narrowing your eyes at him. He stared down at you and then simply looked away. "I say what I want to say." he replied.

Eventually, when you got home he immediately told you to take a warm bath and helped you warm yourself up even more. He didn't want you to get sick because of going out with him.

WATARU KUON

While walking through the city's downtown and talking with Wataru, you suddenly a water drop on your head. Wataru felt it as well which made him looked up at sky.

It was shining bright a few moments ago but it was covered fast by the clouds as if they have just appeared out of nowhere and the weather changed fast from a clear day to a rainy one.

"Oh no..." you heard Wataru said as he took your hand and started walking quickly to find a decent place to cover from the rain.

You can see that he was upset from the sudden change of weather. You two were quick to get soaked by the rain when he finally found a good place to cover from the rain.

You didn't mean to but you made frustrate sound as you look down at your wet clothes. Wataru looked at you, he had an apologetic look upon hearing your frustrate noises. He looked down at the ground, watching the raindrops that fell from the sky hit the concrete floor.

"I'm sorry. I should have brought an umbrella with me before going out." he suddenly said, making you looked at him and saw his upset face.

You sighed quietly and then leaned forward a bit to take a good look at his face, "No need to apologise, I didn't bring an umbrella as well so you're not the only one regretting the decision of not being sensitive enough about the weather." you said with a straight face.

He looked at you, but when his eyes(that are opened in this situation), met with yours he immediately looked away. He still felt nervous to look at you in the eyes, especially with how serious you can look sometimes.

"But, I've told you that you can trust me on having fun spending time with me today..." he said in a quiet voice, eyes not wanting to meet yours. However, that won't happened as you placed your two fingers on his cheek and then turned his face to look at you.

"Jeez, no need to be like that. I trust you, but this is something you can't predict or control and you know it." you simply said, your expression softened a bit to reassure him which he noticed and that made him blushed. A rare sight of you.

"Y-Yeah- I know." he said quietly. As you were pulling your hand away from his cheek, he suddenly but gently held that hand. He stared at you for a while without saying anything which made you wondered what he wanted to say.

However, when he opened his mouth to speak you were rather disappointed with what he said, "You're really are wet from the rain." he said, looking at you, soaked by the rain.

"I can say the same to you." you replied back to him, he just laughed softly at that.

JYUBEI ARYU

You didn't even need to look at him to know his reaction at the sudden rain, "No! My hair is ruined now!" he said as he looked down at his hair, all wet and not stylish anymore.

Your sigh caught his attention which made him examined your hair that was also wet, "Your hair is ruined also. Your soft hair..." he said as he touched your hair that he had helped to make it as stylish as he preferred it.

He had spend quite a time to do his hair, as well as your hair so getting it ruined by the rain annoyed him. Well, you were annoyed as well but not having the same reaction as him.

"I'm sorry, I should have considered of bringing an umbrella..." you said, looking down at the ground feeling a bit bad that his work on your hair had to be ruined since he spend most of his time doing his hair and yours.

He looked at you and then shook his head, patting your head, "No need to apologise." he said, leaning down a bit so that his face near yours his face that you have always found pretty was close to yours.

You slowly looked at him, turning your head a bit to look at him, "Don't put that face on, it's not stylish." he said which earning him a soft laughter from you. He preferred that face on, it might not be stylish in general but for him, it was.

OKUHITO IEMON

He felt bad that you were now soaked by the rain, he thought that you have put some effort into your looks today so getting it ruined while spending time with him made he felt a bit responsible somehow.

"I should have brought an umbrella along with me." he said as he guided you to a covered area.

"Don't worry, it's fine. Not a big deal." you said as you dried your face using your handkerchief that you always have around for some reason.

"But I can see that you put some effort into your looks so..." his voice trailed off, you just stared at him before chuckling.

"Some effort? Not really. I just try to look decent." you said, and then handed him your handkerchief which he took it and then wiped his face as well.

"Well, that is still an effort..." he said as he gave you back your handkerchief. After you took it back, he looked at your appearance once more. "I thought today will be a good day for us to spend time together, I guess I was wrong." he said while shaking his head with a small laugh.

"Don't worry about it, being with you counts as well." you said which made him looked at you again, a shy smile can be seen on his face.

"Well, it could have been better." he said but you simply patted his shoulder.

"Hey, I said don't worry about it. Stop bringing down the mood." you said with a slight joking tone before laughing quietly.

He looked at you as you laughed, you were always a sunshine to him even in the rain. He loved that fact. He almost forgot about how he felt a bit uncomfortable because of his wet clothes and the cold wind.

GIN GAGAMARU

He didn't react much to the rain but looking down at you who looked annoyed by it, he immediately looked around for a shelter and when he did, he immediately dragged you there with him. You didn't even get to protest on his action since he simply carried you there.

While he was at it, he sort of covered your head a bit, a cute gesture that you appreciate. After reaching the covered area, he placed you down and then helped you to wipe your face off with your handkerchief that you handed to him before he could use his shirt.

"You still look good." he said as if to make you feel better about how your looks got ruined a bit. You looked at him and then smiled a bit.

"Thank you." you said, he looked down at you with his usual seemingly blank face.

"Here let me..." you took the handkerchief from him and then tried to reach up for his face which he noticed and then leaned down a bit, allowing you to wipe his face off.

While you did so he stared at your face, admiring your beauty. You didn't mind that, you were used to his staring so it was not really a bother. After you were done, you patted his cheek which he then leaned back.

"Thank you." he said to you and you gave him a smile, you might didn't see it but he was a bit flustered by your gesture.

"I'm sorry... Our plan have to end up this way." he said, you shook your head.

"No no. It's nothing. Don't worry." you said, he slowly nodded at your statement. While waiting for the rain to subside, he tried to entertain you which he always managed to do.

A few months after Battle Ace, here comes a 2D platformer title for the SuperGrafx, this time an anime-licensed title. An atmosphere started to rise on the Moon after a powerful earthquake. Seeing that it could now support life, humans decided to colonize the newly terraformed satellite and settle there. But soon they realize they are not alone and find themselves in the middle of a raging war between two alien species. The player takes control of an armored robot able to transform into three different warriors. Each one of them comes with its own style of play and abilities - the Red Warrior uses a powerful laser sword and can trigger earthquake attacks, the Green Warrior uses a laser bow and can fly, and finally, the Blue Warrior uses a spear and can raise an impenetrable power shield.

While not a complete disaster, Granzört just doesn't deliver the goods. The SuperGrafx system only consists of five games (and I don't include the hybrid Darius Plus and Darius Alpha in the list) and only two platform games - Granzört and Daimakaimura. Whereas the latter is eye-dropping, Granzört is rather average. There's no doubt that there are eye candies here (such as the nicely done parallax scrolling and some incredibly large bosses) but they quickly disappear, and later stages are relatively bland. I was personally expecting plenty more from a SuperGrafx game, especially after playing the excellent 1941 Counter Attack and previously mentioned Daimakaimura. Having three robots is a sweet touch, but the balance between them is uneven and you always end up using the green one, except on very rare occasions (sorry blue guy, your spear just doesn't really have what it takes). The difficulty is also unbalanced, and you'll face some really frustrating situations that will burn off all your remaining lives. It is interesting to notice that some American and European magazines at the time described this game as a sequel to Mashin Hero Wataru (Keith Courage in alpha zones) However, although they were both inspired by two Sunrise anime series (which are remarkably similar), they are not related as far as I know. All in all, Granzört falls short of what could have been a majestic SuperGrafx game.

Tea Club || FLAVOR Headcanons

I had this sitting around my head for a while... so I'm just going to drop it while I'm working on other stuff wahoo.

General Headcanons:

Ritsu kept on complaining that Tatsumi's sweater (the one that looks rough as shit with the elbow pads oh my god)was rough on his skin everytime he fell asleep on the man.

Tatsumi, therefore, has a special sweater (a softer one) reserved specially when he goes to meeting so Ritsu can sleep comfortably.

Hiyori likes to paint his nails to match whichever teaset he decides to use that day.

They were bored of coming up with conversation topics and Hiyori slouched in his seat, drumming his fingers against his teacup. Tatsumi comments about the noise and suddenly, they're recording Tea Party ASMR (bye).

Tatsumi out here thinking that he's going to have a peaceful and relaxing time in FLAVOR while it's just him sipping his tea while Hiyori and Eichi catfight and Ritsu's chasing Hajime, who's screaming, around the room.

Falling asleep on Eichi is both a blessing and curse for Ritsu.

Eichi is warm. He feels as good as a heating pillow or even better than that. On the other hand, Ritsu often finds himself waking up in fits to reach up and touch his forehead to make sure Eichi is not actually burning up because he's worried of the guy's poor ass health.

Tea Club {! era}:

When Eichi suggested that he wanted to have a movie marathon with the two, Ritsu agreed on the condition that it would be the scariest one he could find.

Eichi almost had a heart attack, Hajime's burying his face into a pillow and Ritsu's laughing all the way up to the middle of the movie before he falls asleep on both of them. Eichi literally wants to get up and go to the bathroom (and if he had a break from the movie... that would also be nice) but he simply can't move because Hajime's grip on his hand is so tight and he doesn't want to wake Ritsu up.

Eichi likes wandering around the school to see if there's any stray cats around so he can play with them (until he gets caught by Keito, of course). One day, he jumps at one that he saw in the bushes only to notice belatedely that it was Ritsu.

He still pats Ritsu's head and ends up playing with him all afternoon.

Eichi makes the comment that the other two should cosplay during the tea club meeting to make it more fun.

Hajime's so reluctant to do it but Ritsu eggs this on and he agrees. Eichi doesn't really expect to join in until the other two corner him and stuffs him in the matching outfit.

Oftentimes when they were in the school garden, Leo would always run past the table, rambling something incoherent, knocking a bunch of their teaware over.

Eichi would make him sit down in the middle of the three and apologise (only partially of annoyance but mostly because he found it fun). But then Leo would beg for a cup of tea and he drinks with them, becoming a pseudo-member of the club (while Keito yells at how he doesn't attend his own club, bye)

Hajime walked into tea club once coincidentally matching outfits with Eichi.

Eichi, who immediately noticed thought it was very cute but Ritsu grew jealous just as fast. He clings onto Hajime's arms, complaining and saying that Hajime should match outfits with Ritsu instead. But when Hajime complies, Eichi starts throwing a hissy fit about it. Hajime got so fed up over the two's quabbling(that's a word now) that he got all three of them matching outfits and told them to put it on.

Wataru and Leo used to team up to entertain the tea club (Wataru, at Eichi's behest. Leo, because he just happened to be in the room when Wataru was talking about it and wanted to join).

They do little Wonderland themed things (often stealing Keito's book for inspirational material) or just silly goofy plays that are held in the garden. Hajime is the most captivated by it, often embarrassed when Eichi points out how he's on the literal edge of his seat and about to fall off. (Eichi's not far from it either). Ritsu likes commenting on the little stuff before he falls asleep on Eichi's arm and then tells them to play the show again so he can see the rest.

Eichi and Ritsu used to do this thing where whenever Rei was lurking around, watching over them, they would lean into each other's space and whisper random stuff into each others' ears.

It was meant to throw Rei off because nobody could tell what they were saying but in reality it was the most utter nonsense like Ritsu literally saying a whole cafe menu or a recipe in Eichi's ears while Eichi's snickering like it's some world domination plan. Hajime got upset with this eventually, mostly with not being in the loop with what the two were doing. Eichi and Ritsu felt bad and ended up including Hajime from then on.

FLAVOR {!! era:

Eichi constantly jokes about putting poison in their drinks when he's the one that's serving.

Hajime freaks out every single time even though the last time (and the twenty times before that), it was a lie. Ritsu decides to save it for Rei either way. Hiyori knows, yet he simply dumps into the nearby waste area. Tatsumi simply chugs it with the faint hope that this time it's the truth and he can be put out of his misery.

Tatsumi offered to drive them to one of the cafes they frequented.

Nobody though it would've been a big deal considering it's only 5-10 minutes away, what's the worst that could happen-? They all would rather walk home after the drive. Except Eichi, who comments how fun it was in the passenger seat and Ritsu, who said he was had a nice nap curled up in the back seat. The other two, shaken, look at the two like they're deranged.

Hajime has compiled a list of topics that should NOT be mentioned during meeting (specifically those that would irk Eichi or Hiyori).

Ritsu finds it almost immediately and constantly teases Hajime by having the topics at the tip of his tongue and making constant hints towards them, but he will never directly say them out loud. Tatsumi finds it later on and thinks it's a list of conversation topics for Hajime to start with since he's seemingly shy. He brings it up to Hajime, thinking he was trying to overcome such shyness and praises him, while trying to bring some up, an absolute nightmare for Hajime.

While Ritsu was sleeping, Eichi placed a set of cat ears on him in order to see who would fall for it.

Hiyori's the least gullible but he still has a score of faltering once or twice. Hajime frequently loses. Tatsumi kinda realises only after he moved to pet it. Eichi ends up losing himself, second to last place.

Leo still breaks into FLAVOR meetings.

No matter where they are, every few times, Leo somehow manages to hijack it. Eichi always has a blend saved for him in this case and Leo drinks it while being Leo and interacting with the others.

When Hiyori's serving, he brings his own kettle and teaset to the circle.

He pours them each a cup one by one, pouring one for himself first, so that when he gets to Eichi he would always run out, remarking that he never seemed to bring enough and that it was a weird little accident. Eichi, in turn, repeats Hiyori's method the next time Eichi's servig, except for the fact that he states that he went specially out of his way to prepare a cup for Hiyori. It's scented exceptionally well... Hiyori spits out water with dissolved bath salts.

Hajime accidentally calls Tatsumi "grandpa".

It honestly just slips out!! And Hajime's so embarrassed and wants to crawl into a hole. But then Tatsumi thanks Hajime and starts calling him "dear child" and Hajime's not sure if that's ANY better. Grandpa is now all Ritsu ever calls Tatsumi. Eichi playfully calls him grandpa only to get scolded by Hiyori, who told him that he was childish... only for Hiyori to ask if Grandpa could pour him some more tea.

The original tea club members still like whispering nonsense in each other ears, as if they were whispering heavy laden secrets.

Tatsumi and Hiyori are concerned, if only slightly, when they start randomly giggling after hushed whispers around the table.

They're so cute wee. If Marine Bio makes me feel so many emotions, Tea Club is literally not far behind!!! They're one of my fav club dynamics along with Marine Bio I love them so muuuuuch. Tatsumi and Hiyori are also a nice addition <3

OK FOLLOWING UP ON THE BARD THING i think eichi definitely invited wataru to perform at a noble party before. because they'd usually have musicians and so? so ok picture this. it's eichi's birthday so his parents want him to hold a ball and he usually thinks those are annoying but then he gets an idea. make it a masquerade (for the drama). invite wataru as both a performer And his partner for the ball. he's an actor! and everyone is of course impressed by wataru's performance but they're even more impressed because the always polite but unreachable tenshouin heir is expertly dancing with a masked stranger (i love the fact that eichi's specialty in his profile is ballroom dancing). and then they're annoying and overdramatic in public together but no one can figure out Who That Is

and also i know you said that shu was a tailor but i think it would be funny if he also were a noble (his family is also of high standing in canon i think) so he can be there to judge eichi. harshly. i havent figures out yet how to make him besties w wataru but ! it can work

The idea with the Masquerade comes up while Eichi complains to Wataru about his parents pretty much forcing him to throw a ball for his upcoming birthday (they already planned the whole thing and didn't reallly give him a choice in the matter) and how much of a hassle he thinks that is because of all the superficial politeness between people that everyone knows are gossipping about each other behind each others backs and how sick he is of the pretending to be well acquainted with these people he's talked to maybe once or twice and all the ladies that wish to dance with him and that want to suck up to him because of his families wealth and how really this is all just one big farce to "save face". So Wataru suggests "why not make it a masquerade ball" to spice things up a little bit maybe, take some of the stiffness out of it. And Eichi says he wants to invite Wataru because what's a public event without proper entertainment? Wataru agrees of course and they come up with all of these overly grandiose ideas and scenarios (most of them are utterly absurd. One they genuinely consider involves Wataru pretending to kidnap Eichi and causing a scandal (Eichi woud miraculously reappear the next day and they'd gaslight everyone into thinking that never even happened and all the people are just imagining things)).

Wataru mentions that he'll be gone for an evening to play at the noble's ball to the elderly inn-keeper couple over dinner and they make a really big fuss about it and tell him to dress nicely and to watch his manners because "Remember, you can't just drop from the ceiling with those high society people like we let you do it here they're very sensitive about manners you have to make sure to watch your manners!" and for a minute he wonders how it got to the point that his landlords started to treat him like they personally picked him up from the street when he was a child.

I like to think he met Shu when he was out on the street doing a little street performance to earn some extra money for himself and Shu, the way that he is, came by, looked him up and down, and then started a conversation with him about music as an art form and that somehow turned into a philosophical discussion and at the end of that they each went their own ways with the knowledge that there was a new friendship formed that day.

And maybe he's the one that sews Watarus clothes for the ball because if you spent most of your life as a traveling bard living hand to mouth from your music you won't really have the money for fancy clothes (Eichi still insists on paying for Wataru here because he wouldn't need to spend so much money on fancy ballgowns if it wasn't for him in the first place and also he just wants to treat Wataru to something nice and sees this as his chance seeing as Wataru declines most gift offers me made before). Wataru tells him about the entire thing and Shu scoffs because dislikes Eichi (still need to come up with a way to explain that disdain but I will come up with something trust me!) but his parents force him to be there too so "he might as well" (it's obvious he still puts in a lot of care "because of his pride as an artists" (because Wataru is his friend and he wants him to have something nice)).

Shu only has to be there because his family guilt trips him into going and he doesn't see the point in opening that can of worms again ("We already let you pursue your foolish dream of sewing clothes like a commoner this is the least you could do for your family.")

And then at the actual event he's in some secluded corner together with some other people who only attended as a mere formality because they also do not like the Tenshouin family but they have to be there because they're important and aristocrat politics are weird that way I suppose.

Meanwhile Wataru does his usual thing and charms everyone with his beautiful beautiful voice and his elegance and charm and oh he is so agreeable as a performer. Eichi has to handle the usual "pleasantries" (nothing pleasant about those tries) and he exchanges the one or the other suffering glance with Yuzuru when nobody pays attention that just screams "God when will it end". Yuzuru shoots him back a look that conveys the exact emotion of "my condolences" and then he goes on to look for Tori who's 1.53m figure has disappeared in the group of people and when he finds him he's talking to a gentleman that's about a head taller than him and the mask obscures his face but judging by the hair and the slight "animosity" between them he's talking to Tsukasa, so Yuzuru decides he's in good hands and leaves to do his own thing. (do they know they're talking to each other? Who knows! But they'd probably manage to start bickering either way.)

And eventually it gets to the actual Ball bit of the Birthday Ball Event where they actually dance (there's an actual orchestra there now and they play very lovely music). And almost everyone asks to dance with Eichi at least once. Eichi does not want to waste his time and energy on these people who are just interested in him for his money so he always makes up something about being preoccupied or a little tired or something that gives them no other choice but to back off. Suddenly Wataru appears behind him and does a little "boo!" and Eichi didn't expect that so he startles and almost drops his glass and tells Wataru not to do that anymore at public eventshas while Wataru has to stiffle a laugh because he thinks Eichi is cute when he pretends to try to be firm with him. After he's done with his "scolding" (you can barely call it that. he was very soft on Wataru.) Wataru asks him for a dance this time and he's very chivalrous about it - he goes all out really - he kisses his hand and offers him a rose while he does a little bow and asks if he "may have this dance with the lovely star of the evening" (and oh Eichi wants to kiss him so bad right then and there but in a room full of people that are worse than a committee of vultures that is very much not an option). Of course he agrees and they move to the dance floor and suddenly a Lot of eyes are on them because Eichi Tenshouin, whom a good chunk of pursuers have already given up on - because let us be real. It will never happen. The man hasn't shown interest in anyone at any moment in time and lives together with the Himemiya heir and his butler as far removed from the rest of the aristocracy as one would be able to - is waltzing with this masked stranger and it becomes very obvious very quickly that Eichis constant declining of dance offers was not for a lack of expertise because those two look breathtaking together.

Eichi actually dips Wataru once and some people wish they had hired an artist to paint the scene (because I'm a sap and wataei is beautiful I don't care I'm being self indulgent here)). And they talk but nobody can understand what because of the loud music and they curse the orchestra - which is still playing very lovely music (it's heavenly really) - for it.

After their dance is over Eichi goes back to declining every dance offer he gets with the excuse he's exhausted and needs to rest a little before he can dance again (the "I don't wish to dance with you" is implied and in the room but most people chose to ignore it to spare their ego and decide to take him at face value) and Wataru disappears to somewhere, nobody really knows where but somehow he's nowhere to be found. Until he sneaks up to Eichi a second time and does the whole "Boo!" thing again and Eichi almost drops his glass yet another time and as he turns around to "scold" Wataru again Wataru shushes him and takes Eichis, who is more confusedd than anything by now, hand and sneaks out of the ballroom with him.

Eichi asks where they are going and Wataru doesn't answer he just keeps walking and Eichi decides to just trust the process and suddenly they're on the Balcony again, not a cloud in the sky and the only sounds to be heard are the muffled instrumentals from the orchestra that started playing their next piece. The only lightsource being the moonlight reflected by the new years snow. And Wataru turns around, he's not wearing a mask anymore, and he does his little bow and kisses Eichis hand, hands him a rose he had appear from nowhere - a white one this time - and does his entire "May I have this dance with the lovely star of the evening" spiel again. It's the same routine really but it's different somehow. More intense. Because he says it with more sincerity than he did when they were around more people. And Eichi doesn't even have to reply before he finds himself whisked into this waltz yet again, somehow in the leading position. And then they dance and they dance and it's just the two of them, the stars as their only witnesses. And as the orchestra finishes their piece and the music fades out Eichi dips Wataru again and they kiss and it is so sappy and they are so so so so sappy.

They stay out on the balcony a little while longer but they retreat back inside rather timely seeing as it is still january and the night and as the following consequence of those two circumstances actually pretty cold and they'd both rather Eichi not get sick (he already got Watarus coat but then they'd also both like it very much if Wataru also didn't get sick either so they migrate back into the empty, dimly lit hallways of the mansion rather quickly)

(meanwhile at the actual ball people have noticed Eichi missing and started to ask questions, poor Yuzuru has to repeatedly tell people Eichi probably retreated into his quarters already, seeing as it is rather late and he was rather tired "Please excuse the young master for his failing in notifiying the other guests, he told me he didn't wish to interrupt the nice atmosphere and preferred to leave unnoticed".)

After the festivities died down Yuzuru and Tori go to check up on Eichis room because he's been gone without any notice and it would probably be useful to know if their kind-of-roommate just went away to fool around with that strange bard man they've been seeing sneaking around their mansion from time to time that Eichi seems to be oddly fond of or if the should actually be worried about his well-being. After they knock and get no reply Yuzuru just opens the door and he and Tori are both greeted with the view of Eichi asleep in his bed and next to him the also seemingly fast asleep figure of Wataru who's braid got considerably more lose during the course of the evening and who's also seemingly wearing some of Eichis sleepwear.

They both decide they have seen enough they do neither need nor wish to see more. Yuzuru, who has been in this situation before doesn't even have it in him anymore to react in a specific way. He just lets out this big sigh because he doesn't get paid enough for all of this as he directs Tori out of the room. Tori who has not been in this situation before has a Lot of questions now because he doesn't know this man but he's apparently closer to Eichi than most other people and he doesn't know how to feel about that but happy is probably not it.

(The following day Eichi has to listen to a (rightfully) disgruntled Yuzurus passive-agressive-yet-somehow-still-very-polite-sounding-Yuzuru-complaints about him just disappearing like that and leaving it to Yuzuru to take care of his mess (Eichi promises him to make up for it and that if Yuzuru has any favour to ask he's very welcome to come to Eichi about it). Tori really wants to ask about the strange man Eichi was so involved with but between not really getting a word in while Eichi and Yuzuru are talking and not really knowing how to take the exceedigly good mood Eichi is in (he's had "A very nice evening". With utmost certainty it was for reasons other than him actually enjoying the mingling witht the high society at social function he was obligated to host, Tori guesses), he kind of clinks out here and decides to simply take matters into his own hands when he gets the chance.)

“Yuutakun Yuutakun, what have you become..?” thoughts

Replying to your question. hmmm, I think it depends on the person. Undead were definitely the beta testers already, alongside Hinata.

Let's see, Yuta used to be perceived as "one of the twins" just like that. And the twins were perceived as poor and miserable by all the yumenosaki students after Setsubun. You know how Mika says that it's "his duty to look after them" because it's a collective agreement in yumenosaki? As for the people close to him, I think they've always perceived him as a calm but cheery person except when it comes to Hinata. Everyone who has been 5 minutes talking to him should be able to notice that there's always this little pinch of boiling rage when something has to do with Hinata.

Now, as for the recent.. meltdown and explosion of personality, we have three phases. Entering the darkness (sandstorm), walking that dark tunel without hopes of finding the exit (mirage), finding the exit and being able to see outside's light again (love letter).

Many characters experienced a phase of it already, we could even claim that everything started in nightclub and everything, but that was just a brief moment. A brief taste that Rinne offered him so that he could see the world through his eyes.

I think Yuta is very conflicted himself, that's why he keeps deprecating and carrying burdens (please take him to therapy I am begging) BUT OK, moving to what's important, what's everyone reaction to this? how do they feel?

Starting with undead in sandstorm, we saw them raging and confused about his actions. Specifically Koga who was a step away from throwing hands. I believe Rei is the most important key in all this, since he felt hurt more than anything else. I believe Rei not only felt betrayed but felt like he did something wrong, since y'know, he 'raised' the twins in yumenosaki. This idea is further expressed in Love Letter, where he finally understands that Yuu is just.. changing, but that he isn't alone.

Speaking of, Hinata is devastated. Hinata has lived that change right before his eyes and he's absolutely terrified that he will loose Yuta. I spoke about this in my little liveblog of Love Letter when it dropped, but the twins are in a very unstable place. For Yuta to be happy, he needs to separate himself from Hinata, but this is exactly what will end up hurting Hinata, so now Yuta is growing while his brother is sinking in depressive thoughts all over again (at least Wataru helped a bit with that and thank god).

We see a couple more characters who witness the process. Shinobu? Absolutely terrified too. Shinobu, despite being Yuta's best friend, knows little to nothing about his true self, his true feelings. Seeing his friend get corrupted by those emotions scares him and also hurts a lot. He said it in Mirage even, he just wants Yuta to open up and trust him and understand that he isn't alone, but again, Yuta was in a blinded state of mind in which the pain overcame him and didn't listen at all.

I believe. the only person who took this positively has been Rinne. Rinne is. very very proud of him. Rinne is happy that his advice was able to reach him. He took the father figure that Rei previously had and embraced it. Rinne, despite his personality, truly cares about the ones he loves, so I think it's pretty normal that he feels proud and tries to help Yuta in his journey, specially when he sees himself reflected on him (yeahh read hotlimit).

ANYWAY. I would love to see Sora's opinion though, I'd love to see if his color has changed though I know that if it did, Hinata is going to cry and I do not want that.. but ! He's growing, I'm very proud of him.

icha!! I finished awakening moon :) it was very good and i can see why u love chikage! I have two BURNING questions up top though.

1. do we ever learn what the exact job of the organization is. I guessed espionage/assassin/various shady business before even starting this act so personally i’m very very happy i got there at least. hmph. I’m pretty good. but do we ever learn more about… actual job details?

and 2. do we ever get a real explanation for chikage’s “I don’t like women” line. it’s so abrupt that it’s funny but also this is the one information my sister has about chikage and it’s not easy to defend against lmaoooo. I don’t for a second believe chikage’s story abt his mother is the right one because first… if that is real it’s a bullshit excuse. like hello dude. have u ever talked to One More Woman than ur mother. izumi can’t be that special. i feel like that isn’t supposed to be totally untrue since he like… shoves izumi away after making sure she doesn’t get run over that one time? but my working theory is that izumi startled him so badly that one time he was like “i have to make sure she never touches me again” and decided the best way to do that was… whatever he said. and then he keeps being standoffish to izumi when they’re alone bc he’s already gone past the point of no return so may as well just drop the pleasant act. that line is so wild to me though because like really apart from that he is pretty normal around izumi. like. what’s going on here it’s going to haunt me.

ok now onto the chronological stuff… this is a lot more chapters, so I’ll be quicker, and anyways I feel like i set up my initial feelings and thoughts pretty well in the last ask so i don’t need to say too much stuff. anyways i feel like here a whole lotta stuff Happens but it was mostly playing out things i’d expected to happen for the most part? but i might also jump around time a little bit because of that…

anyways when they were practicing that thunder scene I was thinking that he sounded as easygoing as always. so it was nice to hear izumi back me up on that one. you're correct the voice acting here is really wonderful. wataru hatano you're amazing! and well. i mean. listen. shaiapouf as a character Is. a Character but the voice acting for him is pitch-perfect so yeah. skill. i felt like chikage goes through a Lot this arc but seriously, the voice acting for him throughout just like, consistently impressed me.

izumi’s thinking to herself he isn't good at showing emotion bc he just sounds shallow and empty. wow u really did not hold back there. i've been thinking this for a while but i want to throw homare at chikage. it would be fun for soooo many reasons. like chikage has to contend with how homare is around hisoka and everyone but also the whole homare deal of like “i’m incapable of being a normal human!” i imagine that would strike a chord somewhere. even now that he’s like reconciled with hisoka it would be rather interesting.

love the deeply hassled sigh chikage lets out when izumi asks him to stay back for a moment. I still think its crazy that izumi literally hasn’t said a thing abt how weird he’s being including tsuzuru when he was struggling with his script. also when he dropped that small bottle? My guesses were “dangerous poison serum” and “august memento” and im glad to say i was right on BOTH counts. and the way he goes "If you touched that, I would've never forgiven you." when izumi goes to pick up… chikage is so fun/interesting to me because he’s got this very placid mask for his emotions but the moment that drops he’s soooooo obvious. goes like 0-100. like he does not recover well. i would ask how he survived previous espionage missions etc. but i guess previously he did not have to deal with august and april being dead. But anyways the moment i saw that i was like “hm… hisoka didn’t wash up with it so he probably drank it… did it give him amnesia?” soooooo :) smug smile.

i do like izumi being mad at this whole thing. I mean even up to the end of this event she’s still so confused abt chikage’s women hater thing which. fair. but mostly i really like izumi’s relationship with chikage because it feels like it’s the most antagonistic she’s been towards other troupe members? like when chikage invited her out on that date i audibly said to myself “hell yeah, PvP” and well. he kidnapped her and then she antagonized him by acting out the entirety of the wonderful charlatan of oz (which, love that she knows the entire script by heart).

the spring sleepover, part two! i thought it was nice that like. itaru and banri were gaming together here and it was banri who was like “um… where the fuck is ur roommate.” it reminded me of how itaru would knowingly be like ah. I don’t think u can just skate by in akigumi. like itaru… yes chikage looks like he wants to leave but i think u are being a little. unwelcoming. tsk tsk. glad tsuzuru and the rest of harugumi react appropriately. sakuya’s "chikage always looks at me when we're acting together, but it feels like... he's not actually SEEING me, you know?" was sooo insightful. thinking about how yuzo said sakuya has that stupid innocent part of rick down pat. i've got to think. that's probably the only part of him that chikage knows too, huh… but obviously sakuya (and rick) are more than that! the “it feels like he's acting opposite to a doll instead of a person” line really makes me want to sit down with chikage and be like. oh my god. I mean i know the organization u work for is for sure illegal but i also think it’s bad for ur mental health.

the moment they decided to prank him by tampering with his food i Knew that chikage was gonna get mad lol. like as an assassin / whatever multi-talented job he has i doubt he’d take kindly to it. and then he laces izumi’s food later. lol.

hisoka going “I’m scared to fall asleep” made me really worry… but his flashback scene was so fun to watch. I don’t have much to say abt it since we get the full explanation of that last scene with august later, but i am confused about them mastering japanese…? like, my assumption has always been that they were natively japanese since um… i feel like. people would point that out otherwise right. and it wouldn’t make sense for their names to be japanese otherwise either… maybe they are and were just like. out on the streets in a foreign country u probably wouldn’t learn japanese, huh… or is it just like. anime logic.

anyways izumi got kidnapped that was so fun. quoting from my notes when i realized it was gonna happen “oh he's totally kidnapping izumi. this is the best possible outcome actually. i wanted to see them fight.” I was confused as to why chikage was getting seen by Literally Everyone bc it’s like. didnt u research their schedules. but then i realized it was on purpose lol. I really liked that izumi figured out the chika-usa thing, like, immediately! and started gushing about it lol. it was nice to see chikage open up a bit. and then she quoted august which i’m sure was sweet and not at all doing irreparable damage to chikage’s psyche. well rip to her for a while. i do think it is sooo funny how muku is like maybe they ran off and eloped! same vibes as juza seeing sakyo and his mom and thinking theyre together. i’d say its a sakisaka/hyodo thing but no. i think like at least 50% of the troupe is just like that.

chikage never being able to sleep unless he’s like totally alone because he can’t feel safe otherwise is… sad. also its such a fun contrast to hisoka! i have been thinking abt this a lot actually bc like both these characters have their own sleep quirks and also this episode is called awakening moon? which i think is obviously like. that bright moon over august’s death… but it’s also like, an awakening, which i think suggests like, the recovery of hisoka’s memories as well as chikage’s awakening to like… the truth of that night and that hisoka hadn’t betrayed them at all… but i think it’s such a fun word because like some of the most important breakthroughs in this episode don’t center on waking up at all. in fact they hinge upon the opposite: sleep! hisoka sleeping to remember and chikage sleeping around sakuya… speaking of that scene where hisoka sleeps, winter is SO SWEET throughout this entire episode. like genuinely every time they show up they’re so sweet. the way homare says he’ll keep a lookout and pay hisoka back for mmmbm! and the way later when hisokas like i have to do something. on my own. all of winter troupe comes to him and is like hey i noticed ur sleeping less… can we share ur burdens? and the way tasuku catches him when he immediately falls asleep. so good. also azuma SPECIFICALLY being the one to wish him sweet dreams! considering… everything, surrounding azuma’s own troubles with sleep and the whole good night sweet dreams from nocturnality… that got me.

december 2nd being the night before they did their plan makes me think like??? is Hisoka’s bday literally just the day he lost his memories? what a day. like did he pick that as his bday after losing his memories or was that. but goddd. what a day. love chikage and izumi in that hideout room like izumi really went “I’m gonna annoy u through my acting. fuck you.” until hisoka showed up. him doing the whole putting himself in someone else’s shoes with chikage… inspired by homare… that made me clutch my heart. especially with homares line of “you will be fine. I am sure you will know what to do” like the SURETY in that!! now I’m very glad hisoka didn’t end up drinking the amnesia serum bc chikage’s shout of “don’t!” was so distressed like wow. this is the last piece of his family he has left. but OH MY GOD. could u imagine the alternate universe where chikage did not stop him and hisoka drank that potion. and winter loved him again and again and again. like my god the drama there. also chikage seems like he would spiral so incredibly deeply because of it and it would be incredibly angsty but also it would be so interesting. I do no think a3 has the time for that since they have like, plays to do and can’t properly pull that off and make it sincere with the proper amt of time but oh my god could u imagine… on the other hand I think chikage has so much love for his family of august and april that he would never have let hisoka drink it.

I love how when they get back though izumi decides that she can totally just LIE to a troupe of ACTORS when she’s proven she’s not that good at acting… it’s good hisoka backs her up or stuff would’ve gotten crazy… I hope ppl do get to know more of the truth eventually not because I want people to be mad at chikage. mostly because I want to know the full details of his job already and bc I think it’d be nice if he had more than like One Person to share his thoughts with. it’s good he does have the one, though. and I love spring troupe reaffirming that they’re family! that rly carried throughout the whole of awakening moon, it was so good.

chikage trying to leave was one of my favorite bits of awakening moon! like itaru u are SO funny. first its like "hi chikage :) u are the best roommate i couldve asked for" (and i think he calls him sempai?? wild) and then the moment chikage leaves he calls up sakuya. pfft. he knows what he’s doing. and then sakuya!!! I KNEW that coin toss was gonna come back and I KNEW sakuya was gonna get it right The Once!! and see through his lie! and right when chikage was abt to leave!! play parallels secured hehe. also sakuya’s "isn't there anything we can do for you? isn't there anything we can do to help?" the hisoka&winter parallels! I loved how sakuya was just like. u and me. sleep on the stage. like wow… I laughed at tenma for naively going “let’s all sleep together!” as the solution for summer troupe but like clearly this technique is working well for harugumi. chikage going "I... can't be your family. I betrayed you. I don't have the right." though… my god. I have to think this is very telling in terms of how he perceived hisoka, too, in that after his betrayal he was no longer allowed to be part of chikage’s “family”—but he still tells tsuzuru he has 2 siblings, in that conversation he has with him, so I assume he was really struggling with how to feel about hisoka—as far as chikage knew, hisoka had betrayed them, but he was also the Only Family chikage had left… that’s wild. it was cute to see sakuya recount spring’s first three plays but very strange to see sakuya talk abt clockwork heart, unknowing of the entire mizuno situation. I mean, it makes sense he wouldn’t know it well, but it’s still wild to me. I also like how chikage’s sprite isn’t wearing glasses here! also when he said "When I'm playing Oswald, it's like I'm drowning in all his emotions, too. It's suffocating." I was like ah. tsuzuru did his job well, then. for real that play sure did work well on improving chikage huh.

sakuya phrasing his relative situation in terms of like. him as the audience and everyone else on stage is such an apt and compelling comparison! and then chikage and sakuya sleeping together and then the whole of harugumi piling in… that cg was SO CUTE. everyone’s just so adorable there! sakuyas expression! citron sprawled on top of them! everything!

as for the play performance, I’m glad closing night went well! the costumes for this play are sooo good. I’ve been thinking abt itaru and citrons in particular like hello? hello? yuki great job. although I wonder why masumi is wearing just like a regular fucking jacket under his scarf deal. he doesn’t look that magic to me. gosh I imagine the prop work for this play would be insane tho like. how’d they deal with the hot air balloon and stuff. and the magic. I also listened to the corresponding song and liked it a lot! for some reason it reminded me of gusty garden galaxy, like the mario music? oh and hisoka almost calling chikage april and then the teasing lilt in hisokas voice when he says "chikage, they're calling you an ape" that was so cute. but also like cmon guys. chikage's birthday is Right There. that could be such a normal nickname. I also loved homare’s et tu, tasuku?! line. that was so funny

I loved that tenma sincerely did not realize chikage kidnapped izumi. and then he, taichi and sakuya all totally believed chikage’s lie. which I did not fall for even a bit. tsumugi going "I'm glad all the loose ends have been tied" though made me sit there though like okay what the fuck does the Organization do tho. huh. that’s a pretty loose end. also does chikage really hate women. they haven’t touched that as of this line. but then hisoka saying he wants to tell winter his memories even tho it could be selfish! so sweet! and loved how tsumugi and azuma are both traditionally supportive while tasuku and homare are like you're worried about being selfish NOW? i love you that way anyways.

and THEN the last cg with chikage and hisoka reminiscing. that scene was. oh my godddd. the way u can like Hear chikage going from fond reminiscing to having his voice break down into crying… it’s soooo good. and his sad smile!! and the moon!! I’m so glad these two were able to find each other and reconciled really… the only reason I didn’t cry was bc hisoka said that family was "inseperatable and irreplacable" and I had this moment of “oh. citroncore” bc I’m like 99% sure that inseperatable is not a real word and hisoka meant inseparable instead. I’m taking it as a sign that he did not 100% master Japanese even tho it’s definitely just a super minor localization error/typo. and then chikage helping izumi wash dishes in the morning :) like I said before I like that these two r a little hostile to each other like.

that exchange was so fun. like wow okay. I also liked how izumi was like hm. let’s throw chikage into opening night. I’m sure he’ll feel frustrated by how he doesn’t measure up and just Lets That Happen. I’ve already explained my confusion on this so I’m just gonna conclude with ITS KUMON AND HE WANTS TO JOIN AKIGUMI!!!!! WHOOO!!!!!!! I’m SO hype for that like. I feel we’ll get some fun juza (and possibly banri?) bits that way… I actually have heard a bit abt kumon in that I feel like I’ve read smthing abt him having a kind of weak body? so we shall see about that but I’ve got a feeling that may be the reason he’s unable to join akigumi—since that’s an action-based troupe and all… I’m very excited since it seems like he hadn’t even thought abt joining summer troupe initially!! also I am so excited to see summer in full force again. hands clasped in prayer tenma & juza main story interactions? my secondary color trio? I don’t think that’ll actually happen but 1) I can dream and 2) I can write abt it. lol. I would also love to know the flower meanings of what chikage sends to hisoka pre act 2!!!

For the two questions.

Pretty sure the implication is espionage/spy works with various level of shady involved. In the EN server we get a little more glimpse into what Chikage does in particular, other than that i think in the JPN server there's been various events just talking more in depth about the Organization and their involvement in it.

Okay so I'm on a whole different level on it because i legit heard his story about his mom and went "yeah makes sense". While he's never that mean to anyone ever, he is deeply uncomfortable around women in general in others backstages especially and i remember a backstage late in the JPN development that mentions it's really a gut feeling and he's trying so hard nowadays to improve on that, and improve on knowing "if Izumi doesn't make me feel this unwell around women then maybe i'll be able to solve this gut reaction i have around women". I think the way he violently pushed Izumi away was definitely to keep her away because he had no reason to play nice with her, and usually he behaves just, normally, but he's really uncomfortable around women still. I would be inclined to believe he didn't tell EVERYTHING regarding his family situation but to me i would assume that something bad happened when he was a child enough to make him think as a defense mechanism "women=bad". To me there's abuse involved. The Organization is hinted to be all male and Chikage is hinted to have been recruited very young, so it's possible that the turn of event is, Chikage had a toxic upbringing and, esp with a child mind, blamed his mother for not protecting him, then he moved in an all male organization and meeting women was so anecdotical until late in his life that this defense mechanism truly got worse since then and now he has a hard time getting rid of it. Personally i can't see his argument fully as bullshit because hhhh i had my mom get me from household to household by getting in relationship with abusive men who were abusive toward me and my reaction was more to blame my mother for not listening to me and doing as she pleases than to specifically get mad at those guys, so, the whole reasoning Chikage is saying in this part (if we take it as a truth) to me makes sense. It's not fair nor reasonable but trauma, especially experienced as a child, rarely is.

On a more practical level, i think it's just meant to be a romance trope lol. While a3 is more found family focused a lot of backstages, esp SSR ones, and every 3rd mini chat, involves the characters flirting with Izumi (as a self insert more than a character), not to mention it happens as well on homepage's lines for like, vday or bday and stuff. And Chikage is definitely built around the trope of "he can't stand women (for traumatic reasons) but he makes an exception for you/you make him feel safer/he's willing to grow past his trauma as you make it easier for him.". It's pretty cheesy and i do dislike that it's the trope he was plagued with but that's kind of the reasoning. So yes Izumi "can be that special", that's the trope ahah.

but yeah no personally i'm team he must have had a deep trauma and at best he says the truth and it's only because he felt abandonned when he needed help by a parent, and at worse, something much worse happened for him to be this uncomfortable with being touched by women (because he generally handles conversation with women just fine, like, he treats women pretty normally, and it's when they get touchy or invade his personal space that he gets visibly uncomfortable. and even there he never gets physical in reclaiming his bondaries, he generally lies his way out in a pleasant way, it's really only with Izumi in the intro chap that he is this violent. When he really told off Izumi it was to make sure she kept her distances and else it's really only when they got physical that his reactions were a little more pushed, in general he handles being around her like a normal person. He was mostly violent because he didn't want to play nice with Hisoka's found family, in any other circumstances he takes upon himself.). And that's kind of a horrifying thought DLKFJDF the cause of the behavior was never extended on though.

On another note he does work on it a lot and came to acknowledge that he can't just let his trauma response get in the way of his life and interractions with 50% of the society, and he's been working on getting less uncomfortable around women. but yeah it's not "hate women" in a misogynist way sorta, it's really just, yeah.

anyway back to the chapter,

DLKFJDLFK RIGHT Wacchan is incredible, truly has a Voice Range. He really has such a nice voiiice and it helps building Chikage as a character so much i love it so much.

Izumi literally doesn't hold back against prick i love that for her <3 I find his acting really interesting as to inform us on his character, and you're right, i feel like Homare would be a good person to lock him with. (Hisoka's next evil plan i'm sure. Now that they're reconsiliated he can be evil on purpose like a little brother <3). I feel like the difference is that Homare is just like that while Chikage is probably just… something he forced himself to be so much it became as natural as breathing, as a spy and everything, and that's why once Mankai pried him open like an oysters he had a really hard time sorting it all out. Like what do you MEAN his mask doesn't protect him anymore. And i think having Homare being all nodding about the lack of human emotions esp now that the dam has been broken would just have Chikage stares into oblivion like, this is my life now.

GOD YEAH about his mask. IT's so fucking cool. It's really just, as long as he can act detached and pleasant he handles everything just fine but the moment things go awry he's struggling a lot more with his emotions and i just muah But yeah you're right, for the intense reaction to the potion i do think it's a mix of still grieving August so much that anyone touching a memento of him would be like fingers in his gapping wounds, and the fact Izumi is the person that "took Hisoka way from him" with the whole theater, or, at least, so heavily linked to how Hisoka "moved on", he especially becomes more irrational with that. Since at this point he still blames Hisoka for August's death, it's having an extention of Hisoka taking the last bit of August he still has away from him. And thus, irrational behavior. Basically yeah i think he handled spying much better in term of lying and all ahah but at the moment he's still grieving and handling it in the poorest, least healthy way, that anything that ends up touching the grief itself makes him act irrational.

I do love Izumi's behavior on it. While a lot of the others actors have been prick in their own way, they at least contained it at throwing it at each other and never at Izumi. She never really had to deal with any of them being antagonistic toward her and it was interesting to see her dynamic with Chikage when Chikage basically decided to be A Menace. And I love that she's allowed to be angry and frustrated about being treated like that and how much she had to handle when Chikage became even More Of A Menace.

Spring sleepover. Always good. I do love that Banri was able to see it too and like, Banri&Itaru, the duo of "tried to leave the Mankai company" being both "huh. your roommate isn't really trying to stay in the company. That's bad.". Meanwhile yeah, remember how in the Autumn Chapter when Banri is about to leave Sakyo tells him "you can leave but don't think you'll be allowed to come back" and Banri leaves anyway and he has to beg Sakyo to come back? Like i feel like Banri was really MHMMMMMMMMMMMMM WE DONT DO THAT HERE. I ADORE Sakura's comment though, yes. It was so insightful and Sakuya is so perceptive i love him so much. Sweet son. Yuzo's comment is so funny god. yeaaaahh agreed on the comment for Chikage, the org cannot be healthy. Like, man. This is not a healthy way to live his life.

I didn't even notice the parallelism between Spring putting thing in his food VS him putting stuff in Izumi's food LMAOOOOO, payback in the worst way possible (assassin style). I loved to see Spring do something that stupid. They want to bond with him so bad!!! but he's still A Menace so this was the worst plan they had in a long while.

Oh Hisoka not being native Japanese was pointed out actually? in the Winter chapter during the spy arc, Homare mentions that Hisoka indeed sounds shady as a "foreigner no one knows the origin of". in the anime i know they took it one step further with the spy confronting Hisoka and saying "it's true you entered this country illegally and are laying low in this theater company to escape crimes?". Hisoka and Chikage are definitely implied to not be Japanese. They can still be East Asian so people wouldn't pick it up as easily, but they're not Japanese. (there was a lot of talk back in the days about the possibility of Hisoka being Russian, both because of the descriptions of intense Winter from his youth and because he is compared to a Russian Short Hair Cat in the Christmas play. Do of that as you will.) And "Hisoka" and "Chikage" are not their birthname either, they're codenames August gave them for the mission. The only reason Hisoka remembers it as his name is that since it was a name given by August, it was the only time he was given a name out of love, and as such, he held on to this name. But it's also why Hisoka and Chikage's name have the meaning they have. Hisoka's is "Secretly" and Mikage involves "shadow" in its imagery, similarly for "Chikage", and "Utsuki", Chikage's last name, is a way to say "April". August didn't really think too far about all of this lmao. That's one of the reasons i mentioned the organization to be International in a previous ask tbh. And yeah they both learnt Japanese for the job, but it's implied they both speak a lot of others languages. Chikage says it a little more obviously (and he talks about "flying aboard for work" a lot) and for Hisoka we know he's very good at English as well. Hisoka fearing falling asleep though is so :(((.

"THIS IS THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME ACTUALLY" LMAOOOOOOOO You're right. yes. But yes Chikage is just shady on purpose, he's so stupid i love that about a man. But yess i love how Izumi figured out the Chika-usa thing right away. It was really her moment of "Chikage redemption arc". And then he kidnapped her and it was just, ah. but yes it was so nice to see Chikage open up and Chikage getting some emotional and psychological warfare from Izumi reminding him of August.

yeah no it's a 50% of the troupe is like that. TO BE FAIR TO THEM THOUGH. THIS IS NICHE KNOWLEDGE BUT I NEED TO SHARE. But in Azuma's birthday SSR that came out like, a month before Chikage's intro chapter, Azuma…… kidnaps Izumi to a resort island with him and then specifically sends texts to the Mankai company to say "heheh we're on a date" and then leave them on read and take Izumi's phone when Masumi and Sakyo start to send death threat. Of course it's, not the same kind of kidnapping, Izumi was mostly conscenting to joining Azuma but didn't expect the trip and didn't expect they'd stay up the night, but MY POINT IS that IN RECENT MEMORY they had Azuma and Izumi "eloping" and leaving everyone on read because Azuma is a MENACE. So IN THEIR DEFENSE i think they have reasons to jump to the wildest conclusions since they can at least go "well. It did happen once." and then look at Azuma with a look of reproach while he's just 😇

yeah Chikage not being able to sleep is sad :( it is indeed a fantastic contrast with Hisoka yeah. For the record the official nickname for April/December/August is "Gekkagumi" because "Gekka" means both "month" and "moon" ("gumi" is troupe). In Chikage's song he talks about being alone under the shadow of the moon and the word he uses for that is especially "Gekka". (he also talks about "tears falling in secret" and the term for "in secret" there is "Hisoka", which also would express how his emotions and vulnerability is something he can only afford with Hisoka,at this point at least.) I think this is also the tongue-and-cheek reason why the Moon is such an important illustration for those two, since it's a wordplay on the fact months and moon is the same thing. Which therefore adds further to how their own sleeping cycle add to it yes. I really love how much Hisoka and Chikage are built as foil to one another. Even on their designs! Like, Chikage has green hair and clear eyes, Hisoka has white hair and green eyes. Their hair part in the opposite direction to one another, like it's mirrored. And i don't remember where it's mentioned but the state of Hisoka's hidden eye is a secret and it's not impossible that it's because he's blind from this eye, VS Chikage wearing fake glasses (he doesn't need them) giving an illusion of perfect vision. With the irony, of course, that it was Chikage who was blind to the truth. and ofc Sugar VS Spice and their general personality and, of course, their sleep patern.

But yes in Sleeping we trust. I think it's such a sweet way to show that Hisoka's "quirk" which Chikage mostly frowned upon, ended up being both of their salvation and the indication that they can both lay down and rest. Chikage being kept awake is a shown of his lack of trust and amount of things to work on which shows the toxic hold the Organization has on him, and as such, Sleeping is instead associated with the safety of being able to rest around people who are here for you. It's really such a nice thematic they work on here.

WINTER IS SO SO SWEET I COULDNT STOP CRYING. Literally the whole scene about how "just how heavy is that sin you bear?" "perhaps it's heavy enough for the five of us to carry together" IN TEAAAARS IN TEARS IN TEARS LOVE IS REAL LOVE IS IN FUYU im fine im fine BUT YOU GET ME. They're all here for him in their own way and it really showcase their arc so far too. From Homare learning to read his emotions, Tsumugi ready to be here to carry his troupe with confidence, Tasuku being there physically to do that, and Azuma helping him find solace in his sleep… It's just. God Winter is so well written. The payup to their arc was so good.

Hisoka losing his memories on his bday is so sad goodness. BUT GODD YEAH. YEAH THIS WHOLE BIT. YEAH. Between Hisoka going to confront Chikage and just, knowing Homare had supported him this whole time, and this surety like you said!! god i love Fuyu i love Fuyu i love- I love Chikage's reaction to it all god. Like, i think he convinced himself he wanted to destroy December because it was the normal thing to want right? He thought Hisoka killed August, and faked his death, he blamed Hisoka for the distress he was in, and so, he put all of his distress and turned it into rage and revenge to carry on. But he never actually wanted harm on Hisoka and it's only when harm almost happened that he realized that. So blinded by revenge he was about to destroy the one thing he should have been happy to still have. His pure despair when everything sinks in and especially that Hisoka did nothing wrong is just. Everything to me. Like seriously i wasn't too hot on Chikage at first because i was so pissed at how he was treating Hisoka, but the moment the line "what do i do now…. in the end the one who was betrayed by his own family… was you by my own hand" was uttered i did a 180° and was just oh okay i would die for Chikage actually. Thanks for your time. Just the absolute devastation of realizing he was becoming the monster he had seeked to destroy, and turned the destruction he felt was righteous as a way to cope against the only person he never actually wanted to harm? God this is good angst. This is SUCh an interesting character bit. (his chara song also kinda confirms it, "rather than fooling others, i'm better at fooling myself" i'm putting my fist in my mouth)

BUT YEAH GOD the alternative universe where Chikage was just a little too late and Hisoka had drank the potion is just. GOD. Winter would love him all over again, they'd be here every step of the way, and Chikage would probably be spiral so damn much because of the guilt. I see why a3 didn't do it, like you say, but holy shit what an amazing angst fuel this idea is. but yes, agreed, Chikage loves his family too much to let it happen. Everything he wanted about Hisoka's destruction was just his grief lashing out and was never something he actually meant.

i think it's actually a good time to mention the flowers Chikage sent? the first bouquet he sent were Marigolds. They represent "Jealousy, despair, grief" in the Japanese flower language. (in other flower languages it can also means happiness, joy and good luck, but it depends how much Chikage knew that) There's a clear mix there, but to me it seems Chikage was basically sending his anguish to Hisoka. His Jealousy that Hisoka could move on (or how close Hisoka and August used to be), the despair he's been into ever since they both left, this grief. But also perhaps a part of him was wishing him happiness, joy and good luck. The second bouquet was of Zinnias. Zinnias, in the Japanese Flower Language, means "thoughts of absent friends, I mourn your absence". This one is far more explicit. Could it be about August? Of course, but i don't think so. I think it was a way for Chikage to call for help. He was genuinely mourning BOTH of them. He also lost Hisoka himself, in his mind. He saw Hisoka bloom on stage and befriend more people, and he lost him, he was no longer part of his life. No matter how they were before, Chikage loves Hisoka dearly and he still lost him.

(and i mean it for the call for help, do listen to his song: he keeps calling for help in it. Song is set before the conclusion of Awakening Moon so it's still his revenge self singing.)

So yeah it's just. a lot. I love them a lot.

LKDFJLKDF Izumi lying to everyone sure was funny. She tried. Thank you Hisoka for the back up. But yes i'd love more people to get to know about Chikage's background at least. And yes!! Spring is a family! and that includes Chikage, who lost his family, who was about to destroy the family he had left, being forcefully adopted into his own new family. fun fact! the flower associated with Chikage is the lilly of the valley, which means "return to happiness". It fits doesn't it? He lost his family but now he can have a new one. He can return to being happy….

yeah Itaru calls him Senpai, he's very cheeky about it. Itaru facing him was indeed so funny and i do love the whole thing keeping in mind Itaru almost left the company, it really was "okay time to unleash our secret "stay in Mankai" weapon. Sakuyaaaaa we need yoouuuuuu". AND THEN SAKUYA!!!! YEAH WHEN YOU FIGURED OUT FOR THE COIN TOSS I WAS EHEHEHEHEH!!! Sleeping together sure works super well for Harugumi. It's really so funny. And god yeah it sure tells a lot about how he saw Hisoka doesn't it…. man those guys. I think it's also that, just… Hisoka has been his sibling for a huge chunk of their lives when Hisoka betrayed him. Like i mentioned i think a part of him knew all along and he was fooling himself, that he still cared too much for Hisoka to turn this betrayal around. It was still his brother, no matter the amount of pain they went through. But Spring is a new family, Spring is barely getting to know him, and it's not fair that he would join this family while he only ever joined to hurt them and betray them. And also, to be fair, at this point Chikage flipped the script around as well in term of who betrayed who. He sees himself as the one who betrayed Hisoka for being unable to listen to the truth. I think it's also a case of Chikage holding himself to another standard. It's okay if his brother betrays him. That's his little brother, of course he can accept it. But it isn't okay that Chikage betrayed him, and everyone else who tried to be a family with him. Like Chikage is taking the blunt of his actions more brutally. And i think it can reflect on the idea of Chikage mostly taking it all upon himself, that he's the one who has to manage and know not to hurt others. If he says the truth about his living condition with his mom and step dad, it could be indicative on how stuff happened there, but because of what i said earlier, i'll leave it at that.

It was nice to see them discuss the Spring troupe's play but what i love about it is that, Chikage replies about it in awe on some levels? like "what Clockwork Heart wasn't finished until the very last day? could never have guessed", it means that, he didn't just come to see the Winter troupe plays. Probably because it was easier to hide his attention from Itaru by taking tickets for all the plays, or at least also Itaru's, and also perhaps to collect information on everyone. But it also feels like he got to care about those plays still enough that he's surprised by all of this. Like esp Clockwork which is also a story about grief to an extend. Knowing to lock away something to bring both of you peace until the System stops hunting you down and all. Considering Chikage threatens Hisoka telling him that if the Organization learnt he was alive, they'd destroy everything Hisoka cared for, i wonder if he could project there. Learning to lock away the knowledge that the one he cares for is still alive because the "system" isn't ready for it yaknow? But yes it's weird to see mention of Clockwork without talking about Mizuno, so wild.

Speaking of plays and the way Chikage must have felt watching them: i mentioned how i think seeing Hisoka playing characters uncaring about death/assuring that avoiding death isn't an option, probably messed Chikage up in that level of grief he was into. But i need to remind that MMMBM is a story where Hisoka investigate a murder that happened between siblings, with one of them seemingly "betraying" the other, only then to learn that the death was a mean to free them from the prison that was the obligation the sibling was tied to. I don't think Chikage would have been fully receptive to the whole plot other than "sibling kills siblings" that could have fired him up, but the whole scope of it is so daunting.

Anyway back to the scene itself, i also really like Chikage's sprite here, he looks so nice. AND HELPP. Tsuzuru's thearpy session via Theater winning once again.

i loved to see Sakuya express all of this, it's so good. AND THE HARUGUMI ILLUSTRATION IS SO GOOD. THEY'RE ALL SO CUTE. cat behavior. And the fact that despite all of them piling in, Chikage didn't wake up. That all of them makes him feel safe enough that he can sleep with all of them!! and the way all of them nuzzle next to them. also Tsuzuru's "oh well if you can't beat them." before joining them is so cute to me, the one person who could have opposed to it went, yknow what, fuck it, nap time with the family. They're all so adorable i love this CG so much.

the play was SOOO GOOD. the costumes were all amazing, indeed they all look so nice. Masumi probably was such a lazy wizard the laziness carried to the design ahah. The effects must be incredible yes, it must be a blast to see. I want to see it so bad!! and especially i love Citron's voice acting? like man it really shows how much he improved with Japanese he's so good. and omg for the music. I can imagine yes. Fun fact on the Blooming Live stage what they did for the hot air balloon was that they had a plateform that could move in the crowd in which they sang many songs (a lot of the group songs, but also Captain Sky's pirate song with the platform looking like a pirate ship), and they had a hot air balloon's prop attached to it, it looked SOOOOO cool. I doubt a3 in universe could do that but i still think about it so fondly.

Hisoka teasing Chikage is EVERYTHING, i love it so much. I wonder how everyone sees it now like, Hisoka was clearly distant with Chikage at first, sometimes downright distressed, and now he's there teasing the fuck out of him in pure little sibling behavior. i love them so much. And Homare is always so funny god.

HELPPP the trio of Guillible Kids. to be fair Tenma is going to fall for Chikage's lies a lot. There's a minichat later about how Chikage/Itaru/Citron all team up to lie to Tenma and Tenma is genuinely "i didn't think it was true but the three of them says it is so it must be right???" like. baby. Who allowed them together they're a menace. AND HELPPP. Tsumugi just knows of the loose ends at the company!! as for the Org well. Well! That's a problem for future them! BUT YESS WINTER'S REACTION IS SO MUCH. I love Hisoka worrying, Tsumu and Azuma reassuring him, and Tasuku and Homare teasingly roasting him. They're my troupe i love them so much……….

And the CG is SO GOOD i love the amount of emotions these two show there it's guuuh :(((((. BUT HELP FOR THE TYPO. i'm sure it's a typo but i'm taking the HC of Hisoka stumbling on Japanese as well, because why not, that's so funny.

and yess the hostility between Izumi and Chikage is so funny. they really have a neat dynamic, i love it very much.

One last thing about Chikage i don't know where to put but, Izumi jokes about how Chikage can now help them carrying Hisoka around and Chikage goes dark like "i did that all my life i'm not doing this again" < he says while lying because of course he would do it again, it's Hisoka.

and funnily enough, the very first time Chikage appears in the whole story is when Winter is doing a street act and right after it, Hisoka falls asleep and Tasuku catches him, and it's right when Izumi thinks THIS that Chikage slides into the screen:

IT'S SO SPECIAL TO ME LIKE. Hisoka's own personal taxi forshadowing. But also possibly Chikage seeing Tasuku taking care of Hisoka the way Chikage used to take care of him and having a hard time with the fact that he has to see his little brother, whom he was mourning, having easily replaced him.

(also also also pleaaase read Chikage and Hisoka's Coin talk. They're so freaking cute.)

ok now we can close the book on Chikage, now,

AND KUMOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!! it's going to be fun, how could it not be! I'm of course not saying anything but Kumon's plot is really neat so i hope you'll enjoy it! I hope if it doesn't give you Tenma&Juza content it gives you some fuel to imagine more Tenma&Juza content, this is the best we can hope for!

I really wanted to do this for myself after doing it for some other people's f/os, so I picked out a couple of collars for my #1 romantic, crush, and platonic f/o.

First up: Rinne.

The spikes were a must. Rinne's not the kind of guy to wear cute lace with a bow and hearts. I think rose motifs look really well on him (even if he doesn't agree), and the longer spikes are an added plus. The second one reminds me of his flambé outfit and the general theme. The hanging chains are a cool touch that really fit him, but I'd prolly wanna take away the dripping blood pattern. The "bite me" tag is both the cherry on top and an absolute nuisance. I don't even want to imagine the things Rinne would say. I could have probably found a honeybee themed one just for fun, but I didn't have one in my Pinterest board.

Next: Shu Itsuki

His were the easiest to find because I have so many rose collars in my board. I wanted to pick out ones that truly spoke to me as befitting of his personage, rather than just any pretty one with flowers. The first one screams elegance and maturity, though it also reminds me of Rei with the blood drop gems hanging from it. The second one is just gorgeous compared to any other collar I have on my board, and I knew I had to choose it the moment I saw it. The colors are nice, though the roses could maybe be different shades of pink (preferably something lighter), but the beads and beautiful lace make up for it.

Finally: Wataru Hibiki

Out of everyone, even all of my f/os, I can say with confidence that I know Wataru the best. The first collar is definitely something he would pick out and absolutely love wearing, especially on stage where the hanging chains can move around as he performs. I can imagine him telling me to smile like the smiley face on the collar. The second one is something I would like to get him. It's much more tame and matches both Wataru and fine's color schemes. I also like the three hearts, and it's still multicolored, so I'm sure he'd like it all the same.

Bonus: Me and Rinne

I stumbled upon this set on my board and instantly thought of us. He'd wear the red and I'd wear the black. They feel perfect for us, though not in an "angsty" or "heartbreak" way. The hearts, especially the idea of us wearing matching ones, feel like they symbolize our non-traditional relationship and the lack of exclusivity present. They'd also look really cool as bracelets. Maybe there's a blue or purple one out there so Niki can wear one, too.

I'll prolly do this for more of my f/os because I absolutely love this, but that won't be until later.

Giving: Acts of Service + Quality Time

For Yuzuru, being soft with people is something he’s still unused to, so he’ll most likely default to what he knows best. That is to say, being of service.

Helping you out is his way of showing his affection. It doesn’t matter how small the problem may be, he’ll still give all his effort to fix it for you.

If you’re working late, expect to see him enter your room multiple times with snacks and drinks and gentle but firm reminders about taking breaks. If you’re busy with preparations for an event, perhaps DreFes and the like, he will offer his services unprompted and without hesitation.

Being around you has the strange side-effect of making him increasingly giddy, but also more determined.

Know that he’s not doing it out of obligation–Yuzuru helps you out because he wants to. It’s his way of showing that, yes, he cares about you, and it has the added bonus of allowing him to be near you more. Two birds, one stone.

Don’t feel like you’re obligated to accept his help, though! His first and foremost priority when it comes to taking care of you is your comfort, and if you don’t want him to intervene he won’t.

Receiving: Physical Touch

Yuzuru isn’t used to giving softness, yes, but he also isn’t entirely used to receiving it either.

He’s probably touch-starved, but he wouldn’t exactly realise it until you hug him and he goes, oh. Because that felt…nice, actually, and he wouldn’t mind if you did it again?

He probably stares at you quite a bit after that, but don’t be fooled, he’s not judging you or anything like that. He’s just trying to figure out if it would be terribly weird of him to ask you to touch him again. He’s not entirely sure what the etiquette here is, as the only person he might have considered skinship with is Ibara, but he’s certain that the relationship he shares with the other boy is not comparable in the least to what he has with you.

If you’re expecting him to make the first move: don’t. He will quite literally bottle it up until he dies. You’re probably going to have to reach out first. Don’t be surprised when he clings onto you tightly, his face buried in the crook of your neck.

After, make sure to give him lots of affection, be it in the form of hugs or headpats or just linking your fingers together. He may startle at first, but slowly, slowly, he’ll settle into it with a gentle smile reserved only for you.

Wataru is very open with his affection.

Compliments dropped casually in the middle of conversations–you look beautiful today’s spoken while you walk to class and you have such a lovely smile, my dear, you should show it to me more often’s mentioned during a stroll in the gardens when his doves alight on his head and shoulders in a spray of feathers–you should be used to it but they never fail to catch you off-guard.

He’s quite touchy-feely as well, so do expect intertwined fingers and kisses pressed to your forehead, cheeks, nose, lips. Even in public. Especially in public, depending on the audience.

(What can he say? It’s the performer in him.)

Even when alone with you, Wataru never minces his words. Why use just one when seven will do just as well? His declarations of love are long-winded, brimming with flowery prose. He might compare you to a warm summer’s day, or perhaps a gentle breeze that caresses his face? His monologues can take a while, though. He’s so filled with love for you that once he starts, it’s hard to get him to stop.

He needs you to know how much you mean to him, and what better way to show it then to affirm his love for you every day?

Receiving: Words of Affirmation

Wataru may seem like an untouchable force of nature, yes, easily on par with hurricanes and solar flares, but do remember that he is still a human being with insecurities.

As a performer, he is used to primarily one-sided relationships, like that of an actor and his audience, so do be sure to acknowledge and reciprocate his affections out loud. Tell him you enjoyed his performance, compliment his appearance, maybe even drop a flirty line–I can’t take my eyes off you, and I don’t think I’d ever want to–just to watch his eyes sparkle.

If you aren’t comfortable with large displays, that’s fine as well! Little things, like You’re amazing’s and I love you’s are enough to keep him sated.

Just hearing your voice saying sweet things to him is enough to make him melt. Wataru loves you, has loved you for a long time, but it’s always been from afar. People like him, raised up on a pedestal, are untouchable. You weren’t supposed to bring him down to your level, to remind him of what it feels like to be wholly, fully mortal.

But you did.

If you’re apart, do text him about how much you miss him and wish he was with you. Don’t be scared about seeming clingy. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, so rest assured that no matter how much you miss his bright presence, he’s missing you just as much.

Tori is more reserved with his affection, a side effect of being raised in the Himemiya household, but he has no such qualms when it comes to you.

He’s always clinging to you. Whether it be hugging you tight and wailing about how much he missed you and how could you leave him alone for so long?! or just holding your hand when you walk together, skinship with you is something he adores.

Despite seeming shameless, he’s the kind of person to take any excuse he can to initiate touch without seeming too obvious. For him, it’s easier to express how he feels with his actions instead of his words, so his clinginess is a measure of how much he cares about the people around him.

It might take you a while to read between the lines, but once you find out his constant need for close contact is actually his way of showing his love, please do cuddle him close.

Tori always feels safe in your hold–when you wrap your arms around him, he never protests, just snuggles closer with a sigh. It’s so easy to relax when he’s around you.

Tori can be a little insecure at times, which is why he always appreciates it when you give him little gifts.

As the son of the Himemiya Family, he has rarely ever wanted for anything. He’s used to people giving him things, in an attempt to gain his favour, but it feels different, somehow, when you’re the one doing it.

Even if it’s something small, like a cute pink plushie you saw that reminded you of him, he’ll still love it because it came from you.

It means that you’ve been thinking of him.

He finds it flattering that you seem to think about him so much, because somehow you always have a gift for him every time you meet. And, as a bonus, the gifts are always cutesy things that are appealing to the eye, which means you associate him with cuteness and beauty!

However, that might not always be enough, so make sure you remind him of how much you care about him.

You could leave little sticky notes telling him to have a good day, Tori-chan :) or you could just tell him to his face. Either way, he’ll definitely appreciate it.

Eichi adores showering you with gifts–if you were to ask for something, anything at all, he would do his very best to make sure it is yours. No matter how small your request is, he manages to find a way to give you something spectacular.

Oh, I saw this and thought of you, he might say as he hands you an expensive jewelled bracelet. Or, perhaps, I remembered you said something about wanting to try this? as he offers you a beautifully layered cake, made with only the finest ingredients there are.

Do be careful when asking, or else he might mistake your complaint about your cramped room as permission for him to buy you your own private island!

He would give you the whole world if he could, make sure you’d never have to want for anything in your life ever again, but he knows you wouldn’t accept.

Still, Eichi can’t help but want to lavish you, just a little. Indulge him, won’t you?

When he sees you using a gift that he’d gotten you–perhaps wearing a piece of jewellery he’d bought that reminded him of you, or drinking some tea he’d brewed with his own hands–his heart beats just a little bit faster.

Receiving: Acts of Service + Quality Time

As the head of not only Starmaker Productions, but also ES, and the heir to the Tenshouin Conglomerate, Eichi is a naturally busy person. He rarely has enough downtime for his own interests, so chances are he will have even less for yours.

Please do understand that while he would prefer to be spending time with you instead of looking over all these piles and piles of paperwork, Eichi isn’t in high school anymore. He’s in charge of so many things and it’s a lot of responsibility, he can’t slack off and leave it all to Keito.

Assure him that you know the importance of his work, but also be sure to remind him his health is important too, and not to neglect it all in favour of overworking himself. Make sure he takes adequate breaks, bring him drinks and snacks throughout the day, and overall just help him out as much as you can. He appreciates everything you do for him, so it warms his heart to know that you’re thinking of his well-being.

Additionally, he wouldn’t mind your silent presence in his office. You could curl up on the couch and just relax, maybe scroll through the ES official Twitter feed or read a book? Just you being near him is enough to invigorate him, and he always feels better when you’re around.

State of the Season pt 1 - the rotten ones

Huh, it's already November. :( When did time get so fast? Years just fly by... Anyway, we're knee deep in the fall season, and I've been watching stuff. And frankly, it's mostly a letdown? Yes, I still miss Night Head 2041 but it's not just the raging fangirl in me that finds the fall season a letdown.

I kind of hate this.

I've seen people praise it to high heavens and I just don't get why - like, it's more boring, derivative anime that feels like it had been designed by a committee specifically to pander to American anime viewers, and it's not even a particularly entertaining one at that. All the same tropes, all the same character archetypes without any particularly interesting spins or extras... the jokes are stale, the "banter" is annoying people shouting at each other, it's not heartwarming or sweet, the action is boring, and the worst of it all, the main girl. I can't stand Precocious Anime Kids and running out of patience with Cute Anime Girls, and she's both, also she's obnoxious and annoying and NINE YEARS OLD.

I just can't get over this. We're meant to see a father-daughter bond where the father needs to learn to trust his daugher more with her skills and ambitions and wish for independence, and on paper that sounds amazing, except - SHE IS NINE YEARS OLD. I know this is anime but it's still ridiculous, you can't expect me to suspend my disbelief that much! I'd be OK with it if she was a bit older, but NINE?! Why couldn't they make her at least a teenager - rhetoric question, it's because in a show like this, created mostly by dudes for a mainly male target audience, this is the only way for her not to be sexualized and given a romance subplot. A non-sexualized teen girl?! We can't have that!!

Also, her voice acting is terrible. I don't buy her as a young girl, I don't buy her as cute, I don't buy her as badass, I don't buy her as anything really. Apparently the seiyuu had to pass some special audition to get the role... well, whoever chose her, had strange ideas about how this character should be voiced.

Takt op. Destiny

If Sakugan feels like it had been designed by a committee this one feels like it was written and created by AI. It's so completely soulless and lacks any kind of ambition other than "looks good, has cute/sexy girls".

The story is contrived. (How come the big bads didn't even know about Cosette? also if she's so amazing and rare why are they just letting her go instead of taking her? and so on and so forth...) The action makes no sense - in theory one of the pair "conducting" the other in a fight is a nice idea but the way it is actually presented makes literally no sense, it's just a flimsy excuse to set the characters up in teams. And while I'd called its animation flashy before, past episode 2 it's not even that! Also, the characters are bland and lack any charm whatsoever.

Damn, what a waste of time and money this show is.

Sankaku mado no sotogawa wa yoru

I'd already ranted about this one - well, it didn't get better past episode one, and so I'm dropping it and lamenting about what could have been. It's one of the most baffling adaptations I've seen, it's like the people who made it either a) read the manga and didn't understand it at all, or b) read the manga and said "that's cute but Imma do it my way". It feels like its own parody, in a way that's vaguely offensive to the manga, really.

Also, wtf is Hatano Wataru doing?!

Such a pity because ridiculous premise aside the manga is good - it would've deserved so much better.

Blue Period

Oh yes, I remember why I stopped following the manga at the time - honestly I'm just too old for these "springtime of youth! young people finding their true calling!" type stories. Especially ones where the presentation is just... not really interesting, really.

Also, I fully admit that Paradise Kiss and Honey & Clover pretty much ruined me for these stories (ParaKiss is amazing from first chapter to last, Hachikuro has its issues but overall it's really good, too), but also it's like... none of the stories I'd read since then showed anything new or unique? Sure, it's always a different kind of passion, but in the end it's nothing new. And here not even the characters, the relationships, pacing, etc. are particularly interesting to me.

I'm not saying the show is bad, it's fine for what it is, I'm sure many people adore it, but as for me it's just not interesting.

this is nazuna he's the leader of ra*bits in enstars! and he used to be in valkryie until his second year when they got beaten by past-fine and in his third year wataru introduced him to tomoya and hajime and then mitsuru joined (i dont rememeber how😅) but anw he's the definition of small and full of rage and he almost strangled someone once bc he thought that person had hurt hajime. everyone in ra*bits calls him niichan<3

this is tomoya and he becomes the leader of ra*bits after nazuna graduates, he's childhood friends with hajime and the reason that the two of them went to yumenosaki in the first place. he has a bit of an inferiority complex bc he feels average compared to everyone else but he works hard and he is doing his best and animals love him. he's also in theater club with wataru and hokuto

you already know a bunch about hajime but here's another picture of him anyway<3 also he's the oldest of three with a younger brother and sister

and this is mitsuru! he's on the track team with madara and arashi and one other person (adonis) and he like running and bread and im like 80% sure he has adhd. he also literally runs from his problems but he's easy to read and he doesnt like to be looked down on by the people he cares about. he's really affectionate and he likes basking in the sun and socks he's good at backflips and he's the youngest of three siblings with an older brother and sister. also. i am. not good at describing voices but his is. so good. similar to izumi's in the way that it feels i really cant describe it well but like. its good its really nice

also when i first started the anime hajime and ra*bits were one of the first units introduced so my brain was like "yeah theyre gonna be my favorite", that. that was before i met ryuseitai knights and valkryie but they're not in danger of dropping out of the top 5 at least😅

■ The Reapers’ Game

The Reapers’ Game unfolds in the UG (Underground), a different dimension which bears a striking resemblance to the real world. The Players of the Game form teams and aim to complete missions set out by the Game Master, Shiba. The nature of these missions ranges from solving puzzles to defeating enemies known as Noise, and teams may even find themselves fighting their peers for control of the ‘Buya in citywide turf wars!

The Game lasts for seven days. It is said that the team who racks up the most points over the course of the week will have their wish granted—whatever it may be. The unlucky team who ends up in last, on the other hand, is forced to face erasure.

In the Reapers’ Game, it’s all for one and one for all. Will Rindo and the Wicked Twisters be able to band together and topple the other teams in this struggle for survival?

■ Team Battles

Turf Wars: Scramble Slams

One kind of mission assigned in the Reapers’ Game is the Scramble Slam, a citywide turf war that has teams vying for control of various areas around town. Erase all the orange Turf Noise or take down the rival team members in an area to claim that location as your own.

In Scramble Slams, the fun lies in not only gaining control of an area, but also in defeating swarms of enemies to earn even more Scramble Points and exchange them for even better rewards. Chain together battles with regular Noise to max out your point-earning potential!

■ Characters: Ruinbringers

Known as the “strongest team,” everything else about them is shrouded in mystery: The Ruinbringers!

Susukichi (voiced by Max Udell [ENG], Natsuki Hanae [JPN])

“You kids must be the newbies! Oooh, fresh outta the box, ain’t ya?”

A Player in the Reapers’ Game, and a member of the Ruinbringers. While his impressive physique gives off an intimidating air, Susukichi is actually a bit of a chatterbox, rambling in his surprisingly high voice. Like the discs in beloved Reversi, he views the world in black and white.

Tsugumi (voiced by Ciara Riley Wilson [ENG], Yuka Ozaki in [JPN])

“I can’t lose… I must fight.”

A Player in the Reapers’ Game. Although she is a member of the Ruinbringers, she barely interacts with others and does not talk to anyone. Contrary to her waify appearance, she possesses powerful psychic abilities and a perfect record against other Players. The stuffed animal she carries resembles the mascot of Gatto Nero, a new brand that’s all the rage in Shibuya—but her plush pal apparently predates the establishment of said brand.

■ Characters: Deep Rivers Society

A group of river enthusiasts whose game-plan is to survive by being cautious and steady-going: the Deep Rivers Society!

Fuya (voiced by Adam Gold [ENG], Yoshiki Nakajima [JPN])

“You can row, row, row all you want…but you won’t go gently down this stream!”

A Player in the Reapers’ Game who got sucked into the action while taking a stroll in search of Shibuya’s most exquisite culverts. Despite being the de facto leader of the Deep Rivers Society, he is quite cowardly and not one to normally take charge. However, his aversion to conflict is the reason he’s managed to avoid dropping out of the game so far, so his “flight-over-fight” approach has served him surprisingly well. He holds a store-bought map of the city in which he’s hand-marked his favorite culverts.

■ Characters: Variabeauties

The super-stylish team with a passion for fashion and a skilled negotiator at the helm: the Variabeauties!

Kanon (voiced by Xanthe Huynh [ENG], Sumire Uesaka [JPN])

“That may work on the other girls, but I’m a little sharper.”

A Player in the Reapers’ Game and the leader of the Variabeauties. Both kind and captivating, Kanon gives “Rindy” and his teammates a crash course in the rules of the Game. Her beauty also belies a cunning side that reveals itself when the situation warrants. What she lacks in impressive psychic powers, she more than makes up for in wisdom, which has helped her survive the Game thus far.

■ Characters: Purehearts

The social media-savvy team taking the game by storm and using their positive thinking as a weapon: the Purehearts!

Motoi (voiced by Nick Thurston [ENG], Wataru Komada [JPN])

“I’m prepared to help out, of course! The more people working together, the better the resultat.”

A Player in the Reapers’ Game and the leader of the Purehearts. His winning smile and poetic platitudes give off good vibes only, even though his superficiality and frequent use of “fancy” words can rub some people the wrong way. Nevertheless, his magnetic personality has proven quite attractive, amassing him a large number of followers.

■ System: Threads

Rindo and his teammates can increase their HP (Health Points), ATK (Attack) and DEF (Defence) by wearing threads. There are five categories of fashion items you can equip: headwear, tops, bottoms, footwear, and accessories.

In addition, threads have abilities that are useful in battle. If the character equipping an item has enough Style, its ability will be activated and its effect unleashed. Spruce up your fashion sense and unlock the true power of the threads!

—There are no restrictions when it comes to equipping threads, so you can make whichever character you like wear any fashion item. However, some abilities will only activate when the corresponding item is equipped by a specific character.

■ Shops

The city of Shibuya is dotted with a wide variety of shops. There are over 40 establishments to visit, with some selling threads and pins, some providing delicious food and drink, and some offering collectibles like CDs and books.

Each shop attendant is unique, and they reveal a little more of their personality with each visit. Stop by a shop often enough and you might even earn yourself some VIP perks!

—Look for SHOP icons to find places where you can shop and eat! You can also enjoy shopping at stores which exist in the real world such as Taiseido and Tower Records.

—Pay with the contactless payment system “ShibuPay.” Sell the pins you gain during battle to top up your balance.

■ Shops and Brands

The style of clothes and accessories in fashion shops changes with each brand. The number of products will increase as you progress through the story and meet various conditions, so be sure to pop into your favorite shops every now and then. A few of the game’s boutiques are featured below.

—There are over 270 types of fashion items. Assemble ensembles around your favorite brands!

Top o’ Topo

Cute and girly clothes that are popular with younger crowds. Has its main store in Harajuku and another branch in Shibuya.

Joli becot

A sexy yet stylish brand for women that also features some cool pieces for men. Sometimes called “JB” for short.

Tigre Punks

Long-standing punk fashion brand beloved throughout Shibuya. Their edgy designs are tough in many ways.

■ Restaurants

Another great thing about Shibuya is its wide selection of restaurants! Choose from a variety of dining options like guilty fast food pleasures, succulent meat dishes, healthy veggie soups, and parfaits packed with cream and fruit. Eating improves your basic stats and is essential for Rindo and his teammates’ growth. If you want to survive the Reapers’ Game, watch what you eat!

—There are over 90 types of food. Savor all the fine dishes Shibuya has to offer!

—Rindo and his teammates’ reactions during food scenes in the restaurants are also a treat. Their moods are different when they eat something they like versus when they eat something they don’t.

■ System: Remind

Fret’s unique psych: Remind!

Fret’s unique psych, Remind, jogs people’s memories and helps them to remember things they have forgotten.

A minigame will start when Remind is activated. Tilt the left and right sticks in the correct positions to reassemble the scattered memory. Put all the pieces in the right place to complete the reminder!

—Use Remind on a Reaper who has forgotten the mission he was supposed to give out.

■ Locations

Rindo and his teammates travel to all corners of the Shibuya area over the course of the Reapers’ Game. Revisit familiar spots from the previous game such as Tipsy Tose Hall, and discover new locations like Shibuya Stream and the iconic Takeshita Street.

■ Pins

Classical Cacophany

A pin that enables the use of “dart bombs,” which shoots arrows that explode after a short time. By shooting a certain number of arrows quickly, a large explosion will occur immediately.

ShoGun: Void

The “entanglement,” which generates a chain in a straight line that damages and restrains the enemies it touches, plays nice with other psychs.

The Great Volancic Escape

Set a timed explosive at your feet with the “Time Bomb” psych. Figure out when to detonate the bomb and follow up with an attack.

NEO: The World Ends with You will launch for PlayStation 4 and Switch on July 27, 2021 worldwide, followed by PC via the Epic Games Store in Summer 2021.
