Hi. Long time no post here 🤡 apologies for not posting here as often bc I’ve been busy with um. Life. But also I’ve been using insta more lately.
ANYWAYS THATS BESIDES THE POINT I CAME BACK TO POST THESE!!!!! Wow I didn’t think I’d have another rin au but here she is. JJK rin. The rinverse is growing 🛌🛌 (she’s a bit more plain compared to HxH rin and DR rin, bc I didn’t want to make her stand out too much) and I just HAD TO make fanart for the jjk fanfic “Your Life As A Tokyo Jujutsu High Background Student” by @sincerelyamee :DD! I’ve been loving the fic so far and I’ve been wanting to draw fanart for it for SOOOO long but unfortunately I’ve been sooo busy and suffered with art block for a while… but now I finally found the time and motivation to draw this and so here it is!!!
I drew a ref of Rin as Spices (basically I inserted my OC into the fic bc I personally prefer not to insert myself) and I drew a scene of Spices and Megumi (bc i love them so much and Megumi is so pookie 🤭🤭) from Chapter 34!! Everything was just how imagined Spices and the scene to be, so I apologize if it is inaccurate..! 🙇��♀️🙇‍♀️ may draw more fanart when I find the time….
The other arts are just JJK doodles from when the leaks released, I was brainrotting so hard and just had to doodle the pookies ✨✨

what are your modern au sns headcanons?
i like to incorporate as many things from canon into modern aus as possible tbh so i kinda already joked about sasuke being probably hunted down by true crime obsessed ppl trying to interview him about his insane murderer brother and also naruto finding out later in life he might be a nepo baby and his father was a big political figure idk it’s funny to me
as for narusasu specific hcs
they met at an orphanage (because unlike konoha who lets children raise themselves i feel modern au they just get shove into the system)
growing up they definitely liked to vandalize places, especially monuments. or well naruto did and sasuke covered for him because he likes naruto.
naruto spends half of his time in middle and high school carving sasuke’s name into tables and walls. he says he does it so sasuke gets blamed but he’s just in love and has a sasuke brainrot.
naruto is a collage drop out and ends up working with plants (i refuse to let him suffer by going into politics) and sasuke also drops out with him but comes back later to finish some because he ends working with reptiles specifically snakes.
naruto loves buy matching stuff All the time but he never admits it’s matching. he just buys things like bracelets or mugs in purple and orange and that’s it. sasuke is very aware of this but he never complains and uses everything naruto buys.
after they start dating they do wear those stupid matching necklaces kishimoto drew.
in their free time, sasuke is really good at playing instruments whereas naruto is more into painting (he’s so into street art!!!). sasuke for sure has a electric guitar btw

Ed calls the men he encounters on his island a very mocking “babe”. A la Done For, Ed calls Ling this pet name once as well. The siren impersonating Ed can only read so much of the memory’s tone and assumes Ed meant it genuinely. This is Ling’s first red flag.
The second red flag is that beaming face and eager pose the siren takes when greeting him. From what little Ling has seen of Ed as his true self—when the game of seduction was dropped and he was serious about helping Ling get home—he knows that Ed’s natural body language is actually rather discreet. The siren’s third mistake... isn’t quite a mistake. But Ling has to wonder why it chose to appear as Ed with his hair pulled up. Surely the longer, draping hair would’ve been objectively more appealing? Ling only saw Ed’s hair pulled up once, after Ed dropped the act and declared that he'd help Ling get to the underworld.
... He did see Ed’s first real smile with that hairstyle, though. With all the gold (like harp strings, it’s fascinating) pulled out of the way, Ed’s face was plain to admire in the sunlight as he'd confessed to being in love before.
But—that’s hardly the point. It’s curious why the siren chose to impersonate Ed, of all people, at all.
“Perhaps the siren was low on options from my memories,” Ling hums after the mess is cleaned from the deck. “What do you think, Lan Fan?”
Lan Fan’s face is flat when she looks at him.
“I think you can come up with several conclusions,” she deadpans, “that are all wrong.”
“What? What’s that supposed to mean?”
He doesn’t get an answer when Lan Fan only rolls her eyes.
“Hey, Lan Fan! Why are you—why are you walking away? At least answer me—LAN FAN!”
Mustang grumbles something under his breath nearby about witches and wishing he’d stayed a rat, and Ling’s confusion is left to grow as Havoc and Breda mutter their agreements.
Ling is beyond confused.

OKAY OKAY MY SPECIAL ONTREST IS BASICALLY..MY OC. Specifically the oc I made from the best Thorfinn fic out there, "to soften a warriors heart"

I don't want to overshare! I just wanted you to know how much your work inspired something that makes me so happy.
For me, the story took a more romantic turn between Thorfinn and my oc. I call her "Orla". There's so much about her regarding Thorfinn and the plot that I wanna type but like - it will take forever for I'll just type out the stuff the tiny stuff
Orla's character was inspired by multiple characters. I even named her after one of them I liked. The list were 'Luna lovegood' from Harry Potter, 'Casca' from berserk, and 'Orla' from derry girls. She's lively, carefree, and basically just the opposite of Thorfinn in general. I was always a sucker for that kind of dynamic, I just hate it when it turns toxic when it could've been cute. Her backstory plays a lot into her character since there are mentions of her being a slave and after escaping by killing her master she felt 'brand new' and enjoyed the control she had over her own life (since she never had it) her while journey was centered around false freedom where when she joined Askeladds band, she killed for the sake of her own freedom. To not end up to where she was before. Her 'carefree' nature was kind of a toxic trait to her. It led her to make decisions without fearing the consequences. Being impulsive and just liked to take advantage of her new found freedom. The feeling of her finally having the upper hand in situations. I like to recignize her flaws aswell. Her flaws being her selfishness. Like I said, she joined and went along with Askeladds band, killing innocent people just for the desire to have a sense of control. I made sure along the journey from start of season one towards the end, she kind of has a realisation and existential crisis apon what she's done and recognizes how many people she's killed and how many lives she's ruined.
Lastly, for the final act, I ended up "killing" her off just for the extra bonus of pain in Thorfinns relationship with her. Yk, to get him started for season two. Because I had this one scene where they talk about going to vinland together after Thorfinns gets his revenge done but I know Thorfinn HAS to be empty in season 2 so I was like - why not "kill" his future. (She ain't dead I just made it look like she did)

what you're saying makes total sense!! i love when the mundane is contrasted with the horrific, like two teenagers playing never have i ever when they both think they're gonna die the next day. i always find little human moments like that impact me more than, like, an extended action sequence
i didn't explicitly use it as inspiration for this fic, but i do think i drew a little from buffy the vampire slayer (like with most apocalypse byler stuff i've written lol) for that contrast!! that show does such a good job of contrasting the mundane and quiet with the loud and horrific. i did think a little about the very last episode of buffy on the night before the big final battle, and there's this very quiet shot of buffy and spike sharing a bed in her basement,,,that's kinda the vibe i was going for, and i felt happy with how it came out in the actual story :D

2022 Art Summary!!! I'm extremely proud of both how much I've made and how much I've improved this year :D and because I love talking about my work I wanna go through each month under the cut because I didn't put some things on here but I feel they're important
JANUARY

After two years of it being the same picture, I decided to start the year update my twitter pfp, and I think I'll keep up the tradition this year, because not only has my art style evolved, I'm now over 4 months on T so I want to reflect that. Other than this piece I started work on another late in the month, but wouldn't finish until February.
FEBRUARY

And there's the big piece. Based on my own fanfiction would your heart know, I had been wanting to draw this scene for a long time. Ahri and Kai'Sa's Runeterra designs take forever to draw and I spent ages on Kai'Sa's expression. Fun fact, for the background, I painted over a Breath of the Wild screenshot for reference, and Link is crouching behind Kai'Sa if you turn her layers off. I like this piece still, and I'm glad I made it, but I like the other piece from this month more. I love drawing characters from games I don't play! I love Yae Miko's design and love making myself suffer with small details, so this happened. I can't remember the exact number but each piece of jewelry is an absurd amount of layers. This piece helped me improve both my hair and metal rendering, plus I just love the colors. ALSO: published the first chapter of my Kahri Proposal fic, the stars align for you and i!

One piece this month, as this time of year is always the worst, both mental health wise and school-wise. Still, I wanted to make art for Kai'Sa's birthday on the 7th. To be honest I don't really like this piece that much, I could sit here and nitpick it but no one wants to read that. People on Twitter liked it though!
APRIL

I don't think I was as miserable in April but I didn't draw / finish anything (I definitely did stuff for my art classes, but nothing fanart related + I was still writing fic at the time) until the 24th. I did this in one night after the "Hollow Mind" episode of The Owl House. A fantastic episode from a fantastic show. This piece gave me the confidence that I could make simpler yet still really good pieces in less time.

Evidently, I was much happier in May. Kujou Sara was another "I just think they're neat" piece that turned into me teaching myself how to render hair and skin way better, and about gradient maps. I did the whole piece (minus the mask) in greyscale and then basically just fucked around. I'm still really happy with how it looks. Then I finally drew a kiss I liked. This is another piece I could now sit here and nitpick but generally I still like it, especially the hand. THEN THE RELEASE OF BEL'VETH RUINED MY LIFE. The color story Pinwheel WRECKED me. I drew the "You, and your father" piece the same day it came out. Not only did this teach me more about expressions and ESPECIALLY environment lighting, the author of the story liked it on Twitter!!!! I was already obsessed, but Pinwheel threw me into the depths of brainrot regarding Kassadin and his family (Kassfam). Due to a distinct lack of canon material, I have a boat load of headcanons that I won't get into here, but the family portrait is set in K/DA-verse when Kai'Sa is two years old, not long before her mother dies. TL;DR the Void won't leave this family alone and I'm obsessed with them. Then, a piece that was in my head for a really long time, I couldn't stop thinking about how Kai'Sa was only ten years old in Runeterra when she falls into the Void. I adore this piece, wish it got more attention on Twitter but oh well haha ALSO: published the second chapter of the stars align for you and i!

My birthday month!!! The first piece was a gift to myself, and I love it so so so so much. It's so cute. I love them. I'm so proud of how Kai'Sa's second skin looks and both of their expressions. This piece was also my first steps into getting better and rendering Ahri's tail + hair. I love it. It's one of my favorites from the year. Then Star Guardian 2022 started!!! I finished this piece the day after SG Kai'Sa's voicelines dropped, and because I'm a firm believer in Kahri being soulmates, I went wild over this line. I really love how Ahri looks, she's so cute. This piece taught me how to cope with my ship being so, extremely not canon LMAOO

More Star Guardian!!! The big Kahri piece is approximately one billion layers (200+) and took five years off my life. I'm very VERY proud of it, but I'm never drawing full body pieces of those designs again. KAI'SA MENTIONING HER MOTHER IN ANOTHER SKY WAS FOR ME PERSONALLY. I'm the only person obsessed with her. I love this piece it's so cute. I hope one day DeadWife gets a canon design but for now I love her like this. And then a big smooch!!! This started as a sketch I was doing bc I was miserable + found a good reference and then it turned into my most popular piece of the year, and I adore it. Definitely a step forward in regards to rendering Ahri's hair and showing motion + emotion.

Just one piece because I was busy, but good practice. I love Sarah Fortune and wanted to make her Star Guardian version look more like how she does in Runeterra. Love her expression and nose shape especially. ALSO: published the first chapter of my copium Star Guardian Kahri fic, be the light to carry me!

Simple pieces I knocked out in one day each. The Runeterra kiss is my favorite, I want to say it's the best rendering I did all year. Admittedly I don't have much to say about the Star Guardian piece. Could have been better but it's good! Twitter loved both of these :)

I've always wanted to draw Seraphine because I love her, then her Legends of Runeterra design came out and I knew it was time. I LOVE her hair. I love Seraphine. She's my bestie. Then my favorite piece of the year!! No reference, just brainrot. They're so cute. They love each other so much. They're married. I adore them. That's all. And next I wanted to practice gradient maps again, so I did this one night and am so, so proud of it. Another contender for favorite piece of the year. Kai'Sa is such a tragic character and I feel like this really shows just how sad she is. I love her. ALSO: published the second chapter of be the light to carry me!

And of course I made an Ahri companion piece. Same deal, done in greyscale then I messed around with a gradient map. I especially love the background here. Can you tell I love Runeterra Kahri. I wanted to update my Twitter banner because it was an old piece, and so this happened. Again, their designs are so much, but the effort is always worth it. Notably this piece taught me more about environment lighting. I just love how they're holding each other. Noticed after this I've been coloring Ahri's shoulder armor wrong, but oh well. I love this so much.
DECEMBER

And here we are at the end of the year!!! Ahri's birthday means she gets art, and I love all the photos she has in an album in that official Spotify playlist cover art, and always wanted to make something involving that. This piece started off with a different sketch but I didn't like how static it felt, this is much much better. Super proud of the expressions here. I tried to get the handwriting at the bottom as similar to Ahri's canon handwriting (it's in a photo Seraphine posted), and writing out Kai'Sa's name in her handwriting made me stupid emotional. Lastly, for the past two years of brainrot, I've drawn a piece of Kahri in some winter scene, and WOW is this an improvement since last year. I also finally figured out how to do drapery in my style, I think. I literally finished this piece today, and I adore it. I just love this ship so so much and I'm not sorry.
IN CONCLUSION:
I made a lot of art and got much better at it!! I mostly wrote all of this for me, but if you read all of it, thank you so much! This was also the year I joined tumblr because my home base Twitter is. yeah. but I had wanted to make an account for a long time and have lurked for even longer. (I am the guy who sent the ask if anyone’s confused. But I think you can’t send asks or comments from sideblogs so here we are)
Since you asked me to let you know what I think, I would like to give a response, because I personally do believe Trikoto theory, and there’s a few points which I feel this didn’t cover so. Especially regarding evidence of Trikoto being true. Here I am, joining the brainrot. Of course, I fully respect Twokoto (because Bikoto sounds like a very different kind of theory), and I do think it’s quite plausible as well. I just think Trikoto is slightly more plausible, and also just more interesting imo.
Though I also come with the warning that I am not any sort of expert on DID either, of course.
RGB Colors and Voice Changes
Yeah, I’ll concede that this is usually overstated a bit . While it is there, the color scheme isn’t all that prevalent in the video, especially red as you noted. At best it’s just a convenient way to make a naming scheme. And the voice changes are more something to think about after proving Trikoto true, if that makes sense. Because otherwise the vocals are just like that for musical purposes. In fact, there are some points which make me doubt we can even go off of vocals to know who's speaking for parts of this.
(Though, as you brought up as a possibility, is it too crazy if I say that the Es cover only has two vocal styles because they think there’s only two? Am I really insane enough to look for lore hints in the damn Es covers? Maybe I am)
Point is, these don’t prove much.
Mikoto fighting Es
I agree that this also doesn’t prove anything Trikoto related, though I’m not sure who says it does. The two alters in John Doe are pretty clearly Aokoto and Akakoto, regardless of whether Trikoto is true or not.
(Side note: I had never thought about the “physical restraints” part of a Guilty verdict completely stopping someone from hurting others. I was imagining them as supernatural, but more like what happened to Kazui in his first VD when he tried to grab Es, that he got weakened. It definitely makes the Amane dilemma a bit more nuanced if your idea is more accurate, but without knowing for sure, I’m still a pretty steadfast Amane innoer. Though as always, other options are acceptable)
However, there is another fight which I feel is worth looking at.
Trikoto Evidence #1: Mikoto Fighting Kotoko
Let’s ask ourselves a simple question. As we know, Kotoko attacked Mikoto after Trial 1, but Mikoto was able to fend her off. So, which alter drew with Kotoko?
Clearly not Aokoto, who is likely the one suffering from the drawbacks of a Guilty verdict and shouldn’t really have any fighting experience. Akakoto seems like the obvious answer. We know from John Doe he’s not the one afflicted by Milgram rules, so the Guilty verdict would mean nothing to him.
Except, small issue. In John Doe, Kotoko easily beats Akakoto. It’s not even close; she surprise attacks the guy, calls his moves hot garbage (well, she says “his technique is definitely that of an amateur”, which is close enough), and then, even when Akatoko is ready for a fight, she makes him faint with one hit.
Es: Knocked him out… with one hit…?
Kotoko: Be grateful to me. I just finished him as just fainting.
So, either Akatoko grew significantly stronger and better at fighting over the course of a few days, Aokoto managed to fight off Kotoko through a guilty verdict… or there’s a third alter, who is better at fighting. As I imagine you’re aware, different alters can have different skillsets, so it’s not unbelievable that Midokoto could potentially be better at fighting than Akatoko.
I think the third is the option that makes the most sense. Of course, it’s not perfect. You could argue that it’s still a bit… odd, to have Midokoto be better at fighting than Akatoko, considering the things they actually do according to Trikoto theory. But I find it a bit more physically plausible than the alternatives. There’s thankfully more if you’re not convinced.
Trikoto Evidence #2: MeMe Lyrics
First I’ll address the lyrics you have issues with.
Split in half, make that heart beat
It’s generally accepted for Trikoto theory that it is Midokoto talking here. What he’s saying is that, as a gatekeeper alter, he’s trying to keep the lives of Aokoto and Akakoto separate, “split in half” between Aokoto’s more mundane daily life and Aokoto’s nighttime escapades. He achieves this by controlling their switching (see: “switch, shake up that brain”) and making sure none of the memories from the murder(s) get to Aokoto, so he can look as innocent as possible. By doing this, Midokoto allows their life to continue unimpeded, he “makes their heart beat.”
This isn’t necessarily evidence for Trikoto, more so a consequence of seeing that line through the Trikoto lens. Basically I think it works still.
I’m already the fake one
I frankly don’t see the issue with this one, I think it still works. Like sure, maybe “I’m already fake” would make more sense, but “the fake one” doesn’t not make sense in my mind.
Especially because this is the one lyric which makes me think we can’t go off from vocals alone to determine who’s speaking, because, uh.
I’m [boku] already the fake one
Yeah. As you know, Akatoko uses “ore” instead of “boku” generally*. So that would have to be Aokoto or Midokoto, which isn’t what the document I sent you claimed. Midokoto sorta doesn’t make much sense here, so Aokoto fits better imo.
The point is, if it is Aokoto, he could very well be completely unaware of Midokoto, if you really want to make the “fake one” thing make sense. It is weird that he calls himself the fake one, but I feel like that speaks more of an identity crisis than an issue with the theory. Especially since Twokoto would have the same identity crisis issue.
*(Akatoko does use “boku” occasionally, but only when referring to who he wants to protect, like in a Timelines dialogue between Mikoto and Kotoko, and the second trial teaser.
“In order to protect myself [boku], I’ll [ore] do whatever I have to”
It’s a very interesting character quirk, which likely means he uses “boku” to refer to the system as a whole or even just Aokoto)
Now, you could argue that this is done like this to make the speaker ambiguous, and that it doesn't matter that it's inconsistent with the way Akakoto speaks. After all, the parts which are probably Akakoto in both theories don't have any personal pronouns. However, it's an important enough speech pattern that I don't think the song would break the logic just to make things confusing. If it helps, I think I can hear an "ore" in the sample we have of Double, so that to me shows that Akakoto would still use ore in the songs.
Anyways, with that addressed, let me go over some of the lines which make me believe in Trikoto.
You** don't have to keep it in and hide it away - “I" will save "me" - Snuggle together and say "Good night" - Switch, shake up that brain
**I think there’s not a pronoun here, rather it’s a general statement. It could also be translated as “no need to keep it in and hide it away” according to Google translate and DeepL. The translation isn’t necessarily wrong, but I do have to clarify it’s more ambiguous.
So this line. At first it seems pretty straightforward. It plays while we see Mikoto entering his apartment full of blood, fresh off a murder, so according to Twokoto, this would be Akatoko, yes? It’s talking about saving “me”, and seeing Aokoto’s dialogue vs Akatoko’s dialogue, that sorta fits Akatoko better. After all, while Akatoko is probably a protector alter, Aokoto has never expressed an interest in saving himself from anything. Additionally, the reference to “snuggling together” and “switching” makes ir clear the person speaking knows they’re part of a system, which may not have been the case with Aokoto until at least the end of the song.
Slight issue with that, which you can probably guess by now.
“I” [boku] will save “me” [boku]
Yeah. This line uses boku in both instances, not ore. This is inconsistent with how Akakoto speaks, and with how much care has been put in regular dialogue to make sure this part of their speech remains consistent, it seems odd to me that the MV would purposefully ignore it.
The issue then is that this line really doesn’t make much sense with Aokoto, especially given the context of the MV. Unless he’s the killer, which is a theory which exists, but frankly I think that requires jumping through a few more hoops than assuming the one who sings this line is Midokoto. It is a good theory, and an interesting one at that, but I think Trikoto is the better explanation.
Thus, I conclude this line is likely being sung by Midokoto, especially given the green lighting and the way hair covers his right eye in the scene.
This isn’t the only time this happens. The other lines which probably belong to Midokoto, the ones from the other shower scenes, also use boku. Those ones work a bit better with Aokoto, but I still think they make more sense as Midokoto’s. Again, the only way I see to make Aokoto work with the shower scenes is if he’s the murderer or the one cleaning up, which I don’t find all that likely.
Song Titles
Yeah, MeMe is more intuitively about two, but as you said, there are Trikoto explanations. However, I wouldn’t judge Double until we hear it. For all we know it’s about living a “double life”, which perfectly fits both theories.
As a side note, fun fact about the Mikoto related Undercover line.
Don’t you lie about Me. Me, I’ve done nothing wrong.
Three instances of personal pronouns. To be fair, it is pretty hard to construct a sentence with only the two “me”s which doesn’t include any other pronoun, at least in English, but it is there.
Tarot Cards, Mirrors and Reversible Campaign
The explanation here is simple; two of the alters are reflections of each other, the third is a bystander. If you look in a mirror, and someone’s near you yet out of sight of the mirror, there will still only be one reflection. Am I even making sense anymore.
The idea I’m trying to convey is that if we take the mirror reflection/tarot cards flipped and not flipped/idea of a reversible campaign and we apply it to, for example, just Aokoto and Akakoto, it still works even if Midokoto is in the background.
After all, Aokoto and Akakoto are opposites in other ways than just the alter thing. One is a people-pleaser who will try everything in his power to be liked and make connections, the other is someone who acts exclusively on his own desires. One is mild-mannered and always nice, the other is short-tempered and almost always insulting. Etcetera. Thus, I still think it works with Trikoto.
Also, it can be easily argued there are three people in the mirror scene because the two shots are likely not right next to each other chronologically.

In the first shot, Aokoto (reflection) is naked and looks on at someone who slumps over, the next shot he’d fully clothed (notice the sleeve and the fact the shot right after is him in the internal world) and looking at a smirking person. It could easily be argued the first is Aokoto and Midokoto, the latter is Aokoto and Akakoto.
Oh, but speaking of tarot cards.
Trikoto Evidence #3: The Tarot Card Spreads
At one point of the video, Aokoto draws a tarot card, and this flashes on screen.

You’ll notice they’re tarot cards in a celtic cross spread, which gives specific meaning to each card. At first glance, you’ll notice that the first two shots are of identical spreads, so you would assume the third would be the same. And it is almost identical… but not quite. The Queen of Swords has been flipped, and the…
Cup… of Ace? Wait, the card is Ace of Cups, not Cup of Ace. Huh? Mikoto? Where- Where did you get these cards from?
Well, the mislabeled Ace of Cups and the flipped X - Wheel of Fortune have swapped places. These are not arbitrary changes, the position and orientation of cards in this spread gives them different meanings.
So what, they’re still only two. Except, no they’re not, because at the end of the video, we see a third spread.

Most of the cards are face down, but we see enough. 0 - The Fool has replaced the flipped XII - The Hanged Man and the Page of Pentacles has replaced the Queen of Swords, which means this is a completely different spread. Likely filled out by the cards we see flash on screen right after.
Now, we could argue back and forth about which alter should get which spread, but the fact remains the same at the end of the day. There’s three of them, possibly one for each alter. I mean, I don’t know why else there would be three different “destinies.”
Also, about the portraits thing. You know how there’s a flipped Hanged Man and an upright Fool (the upright Fool is also in Mikoto’s IRL home and I genuinely have no clue why)? Well, as a commenter pointed out, there’s also a face down tarot card in a chair off to the side. It’s important to note it shows up both at the beginning and at the end, so to me it feels unlikely that this is supposed to just be the Death card Akakoto hands Aokoto. The reason I’m bringing it up is that it’s always shown either right before or right after the camera focuses on the portraits, which makes them feel somewhat connected when watching the video. It’s possible, then, that this third face down card is meant to represent one of the alters. And you get three again. Maybe I’m overreading, but that’s what it feels like to me.

See that thing in the top right? It vaguely looks like a third, obscured portrait. I'm not entirely surer that's what it's meant to be, but some people have brought it up in the context of Trikoto, so I wanted to mention it as well.
Trikoto Evidence #4: Miscellaneous Connections to Three and Minor Observations About the Door
•As you said, there’s a few design elements which connect Mikoto to number three.
•Also like you said, the first syllable of his first name in katakana is a symbol of three lines (ミ).
•I get if you’re not convinced by the cake, but there’s still three types of flowers, so I’m bringing it up anyways!
•His prisoner number is 3 x 3 = 9.
Now the door:
•"Double", which can potentially refer to an alter (a double of the host perhaps), is written three times. Once in hiragana (right), once in katakana (top), once in English (bottom).
•The door also has "I'm MeMe", which is the same triple personal pronoun thing Undercover pulled.

Hey FF! I was wondering when you might send something in. Not the topic I expected, but I'm here for it!
I've definitely heard of this theory before. I can't say I know for sure where it originated, but I've always been under the impression that a blog called @bertrandcaillet started it as they're the first one I saw talk about that theory and they told me about it a while ago. They've since deactivated, though, so I can't really check with them to see if that's true.
I think the trikoto theory is interesting, and I fully agree with what's said on the document about how it would be nice if Milgram is showing a system with more nuance than just having two alters.
That being said, I personally don't believe this theory for a number of reasons. I'm going to do my best to explain why here. I do want to say going into this that while I do have extremely minimal psychology teaching (as in, undergrad psyc MINOR), I do not claim to be that educated on DID or similar struggles. So, anything that I say will be focusing much more on Milgram as a piece of media from a writing standpoint, because that's what I have much more extensive experience in.
I will say that I am very aware that most systems have more than 2 alters. That being said, I think I also remember from my psyc class that the average number is, like... 16? I'm not at my dorm right now and that's where my notes are, so I can't check, but I remember specifically thinking about it in the context of Mikoto and trikoto theory, so I'm pretty confident it's Above Three. That means that either way, it's not like we're doing The Most Common Number, so I think two versus three is largely irrelevant on that point.
For the sake of clarity, I'll be using the names in the doc (Akakoto, Midokoto, Aokoto), but I only personally believe that two of them (Akakoto, Aokoto) exist. I've taken to calling them Orekoto and Bokuto, but for this post, Akakoto and Aokoto it is.
At its base, my problem with trikoto theory is that I don't see a lot of evidence for it. Most of what I've seen has been talking about the implications of it if you assume it's true, but I've just never really been convinced in the first place. I'll just go through some of the main reasonings real quick:
The RGB Colors
I do acknowledge that I'm very much not a visually oriented person, so the color shifting is something I'm less inclined to notice. However, while the background of the room is blue and the train station and apartment are pretty green, I don't feel like there are ever really any red backgrounds (other than when the headspace becomes red as ooposed to blue). Because of that, I have a hard time believing that the backgrounds themselves contribute to the idea that there are three. I definitely think the red/blue coloration in the eyes and such are indicating different alters, but I don't think that specific fact supports there being three of them.
The Voice Changes
This might be a me issue, but I only really hear two different vocal inflections. I understand the point about there being some harsher (?) sounding vocals that don't have the growl, but personally, I still think the tone matches the one described as Akakoto enough to count. Similarly, the parts towards the end that are picked out for Midokoto ("I'm probably not to blame," etc.) actually sound more like Aokoto to me even if I do try to track the three voices.
I'm hesitant to go too hard in believing the different voices because to me, doing so would severely limit the amount of control Natsuki Hanae would have over the emotions he wants to put into the song. The vocalists in Milgram do a fantastic job at using specific vocal intonations to convey deep layers of emotions in their songs. I feel like it would be very limiting to only be able to use certain vocal effects (ex. growl) in specific places due to the limitations of the characters. If there are two, the two voices are far more separate, which gives more space for customization within the bounds of each voice.
This is also a little bit iffier on evidence, but there's the Es cover of MeMe. I don't know how much Yurina Amami knows about Mikoto's story and the entire video is in grayscale, so take all of this with a grain of salt, but to me, I feel like Es uses two voices here, not three. Notably, they even have a bit of vocal growl on the "switch" and on "split and half, make that heart beat," which are both squarely in the Midokoto tone. They do still have the two voice split, sounding a bit more apathetic and aggressive in the Akakoto parts and cuter in the Aokoto parts. To me, that signifies that there's suppose to be two voices going on, not three, but you could argue that that's just Es' perception of Mikoto, so it's not decisive or anything.
Mikoto Fighting Es
Yes, in his first audio drama, Mikoto is able to beat Es up until Kotoko stops him. Yes, that's inconsistent from what we've seen from Futa and also t2 Amane. I agree that that's because the Milgram rules only apply to one or more alters, and thus any others that may exist can get around the rulings. We saw this between trials, too, with how Mikoto (seemingly Akakoto at the time) was able to avoid being restrained despite his guilty verdict, likely through the same loophole.
(Side note: this implies to me that Milgram's system for restraining guilty prisoners is, like the protective barrier around Es, somewhat magical and isn't a physical thing. Thus, if we were to, say, vote Amane as guilty, I am fairly confident she would be unable to harm any other prisoners, as we've already seen the barriers are able to prevent her from attacking others. I still lean Amane innocent anyways, but I wanted to point this out.)
Anyways, I don't think that this is actually evidence towards trikoto theory because it works perfectly fine with just the two of them. Aokoto is the prisoner in Milgram and Akakoto isn't. This doesn't necessarily mean that Aokoto is the one who was fronting while the murder happened, though; the rules of Milgram just necessitate that the prisoner is involved in/related to a death. It can be indirect.
I think that that's exactly what Milgram is asking us with Mikoto. The question is, how do you fairly hold a system accountable? Can you blame one alter for the other's actions?
Milgram loves to complicate these, and I can see the appeal of a complication being learning about a third alter. Personally, I think it's much more likely that the route Milgram is taking is looking at how much knowledge the alters have about each other and asking how much Aokoto would have to know to make him an accessory to Akakoto's murder plans. It could go either way, though.
Some Bonus Points
I think the strongest piece of evidence brought up is the use of threes in Mikoto's design. Other than "they just liked it aesthetically," there isn't much of a counterargument I can make about it. My best one would be that they might be going for a "switching between black and white" type of thing, which would work better with more stripes, but that's pretty weak. I also had the idea that the first character of his name looks like three stripes, which might be a better or worse explanation! You get to decide, I have no idea.
The cake sells me less, though. It's true that Kazui's is a perfect 50/50 and that Mikoto's isn't, but that's because they're representing different things.
Kazui's is half and half because his song is called half, and it could also be a sign of how he and his wife didn't actually connect more in a marriage sense; they're still two fully separate people rather than being a unit.
Mikoto, if he has two alters, is still physically one guy. Mikoto is mostly sitting on the flower designs. I'd argue that the flowers are meant to show Mikoto as a whole: the connection point of the two alters.
That's pretty much all of what I have to say on the doc (in terms of the trikoto aspect, whether I believe it or not there's some good work done in character/lyric analysis that applies to two or three alter theories), but I'll go over some of my reason for why I actively believe there to be two, because there are some reasons.
Reason 1: The Song Titles
The doc explains what the meaning of MeMe is in trikoto theory, but it definitely still works with two, more obviously so. That's not evidence, though, because the trikoto theory has a viable explanation too.
I have no idea what they'd be doing with the song title Double, though. I guess it would be a play on somebody being someone else's double, meaning they're someone like them, which is no doubt part of the song title either way, but I think it's difficult to ignore the meaning of Double that means, y'know... multiplied by 2, or:

But that could very easily be a diversion and we haven't seen the second video, so I'd let that slide. However, that brings me to the bigger problem:
Reason 2: Upright Versus Reversed
AKA, the tarot cards.
Tarot cards can be read two ways, Upright or Reversed, based on the orientation of the card when it's placed/picked up/whatever. I already went over in my original theory (which is pretty outdated, I could do a way better job but I wrote that one literally first out of my milgram thoeries and I hated not having a good name scheme for the various alters) why I believe Akakoto to be the Hanged Man (Upright) and why I believe Aokoto to be the Hanged Man (Reversed).
I struggle to imagine why the devs would pick tarot, something that clearly has two meanings to it, when there are actually three alters. Maybe it'd just be to throw us off the scent, but it feels a bit too intentional to me.
Plus, if it was meant to throw us off, I'd expect we'd get a different metaphor/symbol for the second MV (as we have been with pretty much everyone). However, the association between Mikoto and "reversible" things has continued into trial 2, even before his MV has come up.
I say this because of his trial 2 cover song: Reversible Campaign. Funnily enough, I actually thought this song would go to Kazui before it was announced as Mikoto's, but then I looked again and understood why they wanted it for Mikoto.
My thoughts get confused and fight with each other
Very Mikoto, works for either two or three alter theories. However:
I just want to waver between black and white
It's turned me upside down
There's more that seems to paint Mikoto's mind as a dichotomy, not a... trichotomy? Is that a word? I don't actually know.
The Song Lyrics of MeMe
This is sort of an extension of the above part, but there are also definitely song lyrics in MeMe that sound like they're heavily implying two. Again, you could argue that that's trying to throw us off the scent, but some of them are, in my opinion, actively difficult to justify for trikoto theory.
Split in half, Make that heart beat
I cannot for the life of me understand why any of the three alters would say "split in half" if there are three. I guess if any of them were aware of one of the other alters, but not the other? I don't think that's what was being argued, though, sorry if I missed that.
I’m already the fake one
Little harder to argue this one because I don't know how definite versus indefinite articles work in Japanese, but saying the fake one really sounds to me like there is one fake and one real. If you were just having a moment of existential crisis, in most situations, I think you'd opt for "I'm already fake."
The Mirror
This is sort of the same argument as the tarot cards, but there's also the use of mirror imagery in Mikoto's MeMe MV. Mirrors have two sides and are a reflection. You could use Haruka logic and say that it depicts self reflection, I guess, but considering the reflection acts differently, I think it's much more likely that this is meant to show the two alters.
Conclusion
Hopefully this all made sense? I respect trikoto theory and I could easily be super wrong about it (see also: my original opinions on gay Kazui theory and police Kazui theory), but I've just never really been sold. It's possible my opinion would change if I saw evidence that I felt worked better for trikoto than... twokoto? theory, but personally, I feel like most evidence I've seen for it is still better explained by there being two alters. Let me know what you think, though :)

“I thought I would find you here,” a voice rings out through the air, as smooth as the breeze carrying it.
You perk up, moving your eyes from the bushes to a figure of white by the garden gate, an old work of wood that groans when opened. He’s quiet as he approaches you, following a worn stone path to the table you’re sitting at. Wild hair flows around him as he walks, like a veil of glistening white. It creates a soft glow, and in the midst of a now enchanted garden you almost mistake him for a ghost. 
“Tatsuhiko,” his name rolls off your tongue with ease, “I’m glad to see you. What brings you here?”
“Hm?” Tatsuhiko tilts his head, something akin to amusement in his eyes, “I thought that would be obvious, I’m here to see you. We both know that I hold no interest in such locations otherwise.”
“Right, of course. Then please, sit with me.” 
The chair creaks under his weight, held up only by the roots of a tree. Much like the gate, what remains of it is old and weathered, having suffered years of disuse. 
The whole area is like that, desolate and with only memories of humanity left behind. An overgrown bird bath hidden under layers of moss and vines; stone path cracked and uneven, crumbling away with every passing day; the table you’re sat at, rooted in place by the earth. Humans had abandoned it and in their place the forest had taken over, making it a home for her inhabitants who obviously cared not for the state it was in.
You watch faeries go about their lives, bathed in the gentle light of the moon as they dance and sing. They seem to be at peace here and you do not blame them, for a hidden corner of the world like this is bound to create such a feeling, something nostalgic and tranquil. You wonder if there’s a sort of comfort to be found between things no longer connected to humanity, yet still carrying their despair. Maybe that’s what had drawn the forest and her people to the garden in the first place.
Maybe that’s what drew you and Tatsuhiko together too. Why after all this time the two of you have continued to find one another, even outside of the sanctuary provided in the trees. A constant pallid presence, a gentle light as hauntingly beautiful as the ruins that surround it. 
Your eyes wander to Tatsuhiko only to be met by his, a crimson gaze laced with warmth. How long had you been zoned out for, absorbed in thoughts with the material world forgotten? You go to speak but he cuts you off.
“You may be dumber than I feared, a shame,” he slouches for a moment, tone almost playful before turning serious, “you haven’t bored me, I would have simply left if that was the case. You needn’t worry about doing such things either, I thought that was already known. No matter, it is now.”
He waves his hand at that last bit, dismissing the conversation before it can even begin. A comfortable silence befalls the two of you once more, the only sound being the chattering of creatures and wind in the trees. Somewhere in there his hand finds yours, wordlessly, unthinkingly intertwining your fingers together. 
The two of you remain that way until the sun starts to rise, after which Tatsuhiko bids you farewell and leaves as quietly as he came, the lingering sensation of his lips on yours being the only proof of his stay.
He will be back again tomorrow, as will you.

Yessss so I can finally talk about the KH Anastasia AU I've been having Brainrot over for like the past 2 weeks. Yes this is 100% based on the animated Anastasia (which I watched the other night while working on these, pretty good movie though terribly historically inaccurate whoops) and its time for me to ramble about it.
So once upon a time there was this lovely seaside kingdom known as the Destiny Islands, ruled by a kindly king and queen who have five kids (in this AU, the Heart Squad are all siblings, so the oldest is Ven, then Vanitas and Sora who are twins, then Roxas, then Xion). The middle prince, Sora is betrothed to the Princess of Radiant Garden, Kairi, and they're childhood best friends, along with a young servant boy who works at the palace named Riku. So yeah, cute childhood Destiny Trio vibes until...
Old Man Xehanort comes along to fuck everything up; he banishes the king and queen to the Realm of Darkness, holds the kids hostage (and they all kinda suffer a lot as a result, but I'll save all that for when I draw them), and only one of them manages to escape (its Sora, of course), though he suffers a bad fall, konks his head, and winds up losing all his memories at the ripe old age of 8 years old.
Fast forward 8 years and Xehanort's fully taken over, the Islands are miserable, and nobody can travel to or from them (knowledge/travel between worlds is a common thing in this AU shhhh). We have a bitter and sarcastic Riku, living in the abandoned old palace with Donald and Goofy, a pair of dignitaries who had been visiting from Disney Town who got stranded on the Islands during Xehanort's coup. In an attempt to finally get off the islands, these three are trying to capitalize on a rumor that's popular among the islanders, who, despite thinking the rest of the royal family is dead, think Prince Sora might still be alive. Princess Kairi, desperate to find him, is offering a massive reward to anyone who can bring him back to her safe and sound. Though he acts like its just a simple con for quick cash, for Riku, finding the lost prince is far more of an... emotional matter, not that he'd ever let anyone else know.
At the same time, a 16 year old orphan named Skye is not so kindly kicked out of the orphanage that had taken him in when he'd been found as an 8 year old, without a single memory to call his own. Eager to discover if he has a family and reclaim his lost memories (and guided by a mysterious seashell charm someone gave him a long time ago, though he can't remember who) Skye ventures to the old palace, where he meets Riku, Donald, and Goofy. Naturally, they notice the rather startling resemblance Skye has to the lost prince, and decide he'd be the perfect candidate to present to the princess to claim the reward. So they teach this poor lost kid (with a surprising snark to match Riku's own) how to be royalty, all in the hopes that he can somehow manage to convince Kairi. Meanwhile, Xehanort catches wind of rumors of a boy who looks surprisingly like the lost prince he thought had been killed the night of his coup, a prince who could very well lead to the end of his rigid regime if he doesn't put a swift, and violent end to this problem before it can even begin...
So yeah that was a lot! I also drew a lot! From "Orphan" Skye (see what I did there with his fake name ahahah), to a fancy outfit for the equivalent to the "Once Upon a December" scene, to an "opera scene" outfit, to full regal robes (honestly I love drawing Sora in fancy outfits XD). Same deal for Kairi, and Riku too, these were honestly so much fun to draw.
And don't worry cause I plan on drawing even more for this AU too! There's a lot of other characters I haven't really talked about, like Kairi's sister Namine, her attendant Aqua, some poor royal guards forced to work for Xehanort back on the islands like Terra and Axel, and of course the siblings. So suffice to say I plan to draw more for this AU and... mmmm possibly even write it....? We'll see ahahhaha :3

Life on ZDR, Volume II: Ancestry and the Philosophy of Death
Welcome to my brainrot dump. This time, I'll be talking about Mawkin beliefs surrounding death. None of this is canon; I invented half of it in the shower and the other half in bed when I should have been asleep.

Death
The Mawkin are warriors; they crave death. They spend every waking moment knowing it could be their last, and when it finally comes to them, they welcome the end of their lives with a brand of grim fervor not exhibited by other tribes. Death is inevitable. The Mawkin understand this, and embrace it as a reward for their service to the tribe.
In this vein, suffering is idealized. Life is going to throw everything it has at you to make you miserable. The world is cruel and doesn't love us as our parents do. Storms and other phenomena will ruin crops and structures, making life harder for everyone who needed those resources. Life sucks, so the Mawkin value the will to trudge through the muck despite these hardships.
Their lust for the void is enough to distinguish them culturally from the other tribes, but their philosophy on the ideal death splits that division further. The Mawkin would rather die a glorious, honorable death in battle than in their sleep: the prospect of dying peacefully at an old age disturbs them. Mortals are not meant to die weak and alone, they are meant to struggle. A warrior's death should be an ordeal to be witnessed. There is little honor in dying soft and lazy, so what's the ideal way to go out?
For a warrior's death to be honorable, they must suffer or bleed. An old warrior who knows their time is near will seek death from one of their peers in the form of a duel. It is not enough that their peers know of their past deeds; a warrior must prove themselves at the end of the road. In the very early days before technology was so advanced, warriors didn't always live upwards of thousands of years. They were killed, whether by beasts or opposing forces. This ritual reflects that.
This ideal is a cornerstone of Mawkin death-worship. Consequently, a desperate elder may lash out. Long before Raven Beak's time, the Mawkin were led by the High Lord Shrouded Owl, who ruled until cruel nature took his eyes and all feeling in his left knee. His is a famous example of the proving death, if not for the fact he was a high-profile individual, then because of the spectacle of it all. As his inevitable death drew near, he grew reclusive and had frequent outbursts over trivial infractions.

He may have lost his marbles towards the end there, but he was a king through and through.
Eventually, he emerged from the citadel, weapon drawn and shirtless, and called the army to attention. He demanded a worthy successor to step forth and supplant him, but none dared try; despite being completely blind and having a limp, he was still the most skilled blademaster on the planet. Enraged by this display of cowardice, he threatened to slaughter them wholesale until a worthy body could stop him. The most ambitious among the Mawkin realized they had no choice but to try, so they stepped up to the challenge one by one. He killed eleven soldiers in successive duels, shouting to the ancestors to witness his glory all the while. He was finally brought down by an accomplished aviator and firearms specialist named Red Tail, who ruled for 50 years until she was assassinated by a member of her honor guard.
The Mawkin revere the primal Self. Life is fleeting, death is glorious, and the marks borne upon one's flesh are proof of a warrior's existence. All are born to die, and the body is a vessel that carries one to the end. Pain is a reminder of the fragile life cradled within that vessel, and scars are trophies that allow others to witness your experience. It is integral that a warrior maintains their physical aptitude: training regularly, never skipping daily meditation, bathing often, eating when they're hungry, staying hydrated, etc. The Mawkin strive to be in peak condition not just so they can serve the tribe, but as part of a bid for spiritual fulfillment. If an individual does not nurture the body as the soldiers do, they train the mind to compensate.

This scholar might not perform eighty three repetitions every morning, but the brain is also a muscle.
Basic Mawkin philosophy can be summarized with a pair of quotes from high priest Silver Wind: "The body is sacred: it carries us from the egg to the tomb. [...] A warrior's duties are threefold: serve the Mawkin, honor the Ancestors, and seek fulfillment in glory."
The Mawkin harbor no fear of death. This makes them a valuable ally and a fearsome foe. This fact also influenced the Thoha's decision to enlist their aid in driving back the Metroids. You can't go wrong with asking a warrior to help you beat back a gelatinous menace, but an army whose soldiers are raised from hatching to welcome death with a smile? They're a force to be reckoned with.
Heritage
Ancestry is important to the Mawkin. It is crucial that a warrior remembers those who paved the way for their existence, and those whose sacrifices brought the tribe where it is today. I mentioned in a previous headcanon post that any member of the tribe could rattle off their entire family tree at a moment's notice, and I wasn't kidding.

Like I said: on a dime.
The greatest of the Mawkin ancestor spirits are the old Warlords. When a Mawkin dies, their remains can be handled in one of many ways (the most common being a stone cairn marked with something personal or a strip of burgundy cloth), but the Warlords are always interred in an extravagant vault. Most of these vaults lie in the plateaus surrounding Ferenia, as the dry climate is suited for protecting the remains of valuable individuals from rot or general destruction. A Warlord can choose what they want to be done with their corpse just like any other soldier, but they don't get a choice in being deified following their death. Every Warlord gets a fancy place to store their remains after their death, even if it's a secluded little hole in the ground.
Ancestor Worship and You: a Primer
The Mawkin participate in ancestor worship. The Warlords are the greatest of their ancestors: they lead the tribe in life, and are considered "ancestors to us all" when they finally kick it. The Mawkin don't necessarily pray to their ancestors, but they take great care in tending the remains of their fellow tribesmen and go as far as to seek guidance from their predecessors and the greater spirits in times of hardship. When I say the old Warlords are deified, they're not literally elevated to the status of a god. Rather, they are put on a pedestal and held up as one the entire tribe should look to as an example of what can be accomplished in life. Proof of their existence is carved out in a vista somewhere, and chicks hatched to future generations will hope these great ancestors take notice of their struggles and offer advice.

Dressings from the tomb of High Lord Many Whispers: a figure resembling the dead or someone important to them, and a canopic jar with painted flourishes utilizing imagery both new and old.
Even further, many Warlords are associated with a particular concept or hardship depending on what they accomplished in life. For instance, those who made it their goal to wage war on others have their names invoked in times of conflict or by those seeking glory in battle. Commander Red Tail is respected by pilots, who may utter a few words in her name before taking off during a particularly nasty storm.
The act of asking one's ancestors for advice deserves a whole post of its own, because it turns out death is not a one-and-done effort (tune in next time when we talk about priests). As for why they do it? Dead people have lived full lives. They have experience, and they can give us advice on what to do when we're struggling. It's like asking your grandpa about the right technique on your next woodworking project, but he's not really your grandpa, you're asking him how you should navigate a tumultuous relationship, and he's been dead for a hundred years.
If you're born to the Mawkin, you will be remembered by someone 600 years from now, whether you do anything of note or not. The exception is if you do something to dishonor the tribe, but even then, your name will be cursed and held in the knowledge of a small conclave of priests.
Mawkin culture is built off a blend of stark-naked science, brutal philosophy, and the odd superstition. Most of that superstition revolves around the dead.

Tim could not believe this. The new Rogue, Karma—Marinette Dupain-Cheng— had been spotted a total of three times since their last encounter by either his brothers or the cops and none have been able to subdue her for more than fleeting seconds. She was caught breaking into a politician’s house when the man was away on another one of his exotic hunting trips; another artefact was stolen from the museum after that, one they were unable to retrieve; and finally she was last seen escaping from Robin by the mayor’s office, only no one know what was taken from there. All three times she was spotted and nothing to show for it other than bruised egos and missing items. 
During his little investigation into her supposed civilian name, he came across a series of interesting police reports from Paris, France of all places. A penchant for grand theft auto since her teenage years as well as a series of vandalism and reports of stolen student records from her high school at the time. There was even a rescinded expulsion, a litany of suspensions and a plethora of unexcused absences. She was a cookie cutter criminal in the making. But for Tim, it didn’t make sense. While all the evidence points to a child delinquent grown into an adult criminal, something about the situation set Tim’s teeth on edge. There was something missing. Something she wanted Tim to find out, if her giving him her name was anything to go by. But what?
She had no local address on file and the last piece of legal information that had any traceable location was a one-way ticket to Shanghai from four years ago. Immediately after her high school graduation. All her social media was deleted around the same time. She had effectively gone off the grid up until her emergence as a part of Gotham less than stellar night life. But why?
A closer look at her time in Paris led him to discover an interesting trend but it wasn’t anything concrete. Starting about when Karma—Marinette— was thirteen, her unexcused absences lined up with some of their infamous akuma attacks. While at first it could be argued that many children had unexcused absences in the beginning, and she had less than perfect attendance even before then, her disappearances also coincided with attacks far from her school which was where she should have been at those times. Then there were reports filed by police who spoke with her parents about her sneaking out at night which also lined up with notable akuma attacks. Either she was an overzealous fan of the city’s temporary heroes, or she was constantly in the thick of the action and kept it a secret from people close to her, letting her reputation suffer for it.
‘Trust me, I know all about acting in the name of the greater good. The good-girl act got tiring after a few years,’ she had said. ‘Much more rewarding to give into your own self-interests,’ she continued. ‘Something you could try emulating.’
Her words echoed in his mind. He never thought much of them before, his mind preoccupied with other things her mouth was doing that night. It could also be chalked up to everyone being the hero of their own story and she had just coloured her own experiences. But just maybe… 
Before he could entertain that train of thinking, his phone alarm was alerting him of his scheduled patrol. Hopefully he could catch a hold of his current person of interest and get some more answers. And perhaps get a read on what her intentions are in this city. With him.

The skyline was a welcoming sight as he flung himself from building to building. The wind beneath him carried him across the sky like an actual bird and the thrill of the freefall lit his nerves on fire. His route was quiet but his appearance should coax out a certain thief. Red Hood was investigating a weapons smuggling deal that was set to take place by the Gotham Harbour. Nightwing was back in Bludhaven with Signal, introducing him to nighttime patrol. Robin and Black Bat were tracking a drug deal that was rumoured to disrupt the balance of the Narrows. Spoiler was with Batman doing their regular routes and Batwoman was doing her own thing somewhere. Oracle, as always, was on standby on comms and monitoring everything. This was the perfect opportunity for Karma to strike so Red Robin just had to be patient. The night was young.
An hour into his sweep of the city and Oracle was patching him into a radio call about a break-in in some pawnshop back in the Fashion District. It wasn’t on his route tonight but Oracle figured that with their likely suspect, and his arrangement with her, he was their best shot at apprehending her. If only temporarily. 
He arrived at the pawnshop without fanfare and found the storefront window broken into. Further inspection led him face to face with the object of his affection. Karma was posed calmly behind the cashier counter rifling through an assortment of jewelry that was left on display in the glass cases. It was only the faint twitch in her eyebrow that indicated her awareness of his presence. Other than that he went completely ignored. That won’t do. Not tonight. He approached her slowly and stopped on the other side of the counter, leaning into her space. He could faintly smell her rose-scented perfume. Her strawberry shampoo. Even the cherry lip gloss she wears under the mask. He’s tasted it enough times to know how strong it was. For a vision clad in black she was rather fond of red flavours. 
“Can I help you, Tweety Bird?” her voice was soft, sprinkled with faux indifference, not wanting to disrupt the background noise of rings and necklaces clanking together. She hasn’t looked at him once.
“Breaking and entering and attempted theft are serious crimes, Karma.” He saw a faint twitch of amusement in her eyebrow but her posture was relaxed and non-assuming.
“That’s not why you’re here. That’s not why I’m here either.” Her eyes sweep up to him as she stops searching the jewelry. She’s staring intently at him as if he’s to understand the meaning behind the words she’s not saying. He does. They’ve played this back and forth before. Danced their little tango of push and pull. 
“You wanted to see me then? Thought this was the best way to get my attention, hmm?” He leaned in, pressing his weight more into the counter. She matched his advance and propped her face in the palm of her hand. Her finger tapped on her mask. He figured if the accessory wasn’t there she’d be biting that finger instead. 
“Well it worked. Didn’t it? You’re here after plenty of time to conduct a rather thorough investigation into who I am. Or was.” She took off the mask, finally, and he was right. Her lips were shining in the dim light of the night with the familiar hues of her lip gloss. He presses on to not let himself get distracted by the slight smile on her face.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, daughter of Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng. Paris, born and raised. Above average student in terms of grades but a disciplinary streak about a hundred miles wide.” At this her head tilts in amusement. Her faint nod encourages him to divulge all the aspects of his research. “Absences and tardies more often than any recorded presences. About twelve suspensions in the span of three years and a rescinded expulsion when you were about fourteen. A couple run-ins with the police in regards to charges of theft and property destruction.” Her face scrunched in an adorable pout at that as if it were a reminder of an embarrassing moment and not outlines of criminal offenses.  
“Definitely not my finer moments, I assure, but keep going. You’re doing so well,” she interrupted him. She had shifted so that she could jump over the counter and sit atop it, her legs crossed and her arms bearing her weight behind her. Red Robin was temporarily silenced by the arch in her back and the lean lines of her exposed neck. He rose to his full height; just barely reaching her shoulder, due to her new vantage point. 
“You disappeared after your high school graduation, my investigation says you ran off to Shanghai but I believe there’s more to it than that.” She had uncrossed her legs to accommodate him between them and drew him closer by his shoulders. Acting on instinct, his arms found purchase on her waist and he was brushing the pad of his gloved thumb across the exposed skin. It was uncharacteristically soft but neither heeded mind to it.
“You think there’s more to me than that?” She leans in, almost breathing the same air as him. “You’d be the first,” she continued while snaking a hand up his neck to scratch lightly at his scalp. The touch sent shivers down his spine and had his toes curling in anticipation.
“So tell me then,” he licked his lips and stared at her through the film of his mask. “What is Paris’s Lady Luck doing here causing mischief in Gotham?” The question was a gamble and could upset the rapport he had with Karma. He was the team’s only lead on her, for better or worse, and he didn’t want to ruin whatever it was between them.
It was probably the right thing to say though, because she hasn’t left him yet but instead was staring at him with something indescribable in her eyes. Excitement? Approval? Affection? Red Robin wasn’t sure what to make of the glimmer of emotion in her eyes other than to take it as a good sign.
“You got this far in your investigation, Tweety Bird,” she leaned in closer, just a hair’s width away. “Why ruin the chase and tell you everything now?” Her lips were brushing against his as she spoke and the cherry flavour was almost distracting. His tongue peaked out to swipe a stronger taste. The arms around her waist tightened and he pulled her to the edge of the counter, her legs wrapping around him on instinct.
“Surely you could reward me for figuring out this much, right?” His voice was pitched so low if she wasn’t already breathing in his words he would have worried that she didn’t hear him. “After all, it’s not everyday someone discovers the identity of the allusive Ladybug.”
“The bird wants a reward, does he?” She finally sealed his lips with hers, stealing any half-baked retort he might have had. This kiss was different from the multitude they’ve exchanged in their times together, carrying over the unanswered emotions from their last encounter and introducing new ones into the mix. The air felt still and cool on his face and the fingers in his hair tightened even further. 
They were like that for what felt like hours but was merely a few minutes; just calmly exchanging kisses, nothing straying beyond that silently defined line. They didn’t need anymore for tonight. Karma had taken to progress this further by trailing her lips to the sharp cut of his jaw. She alternated between small kisses and even smaller bites as she made her way up to his ear. Her breath was warm against the shell of his ear and he leaned into the faint contact. A lick and a bite later, her lips were curled up into a smirk as her hand in his hair held him in place. 
They stayed like that for moments lost to time. Neither making the next move, nerves buzzing with anticipation. He felt an itch for more that only she could scratch and she was denying him that satisfaction. Despite that he made no inclination to instigate more, letting the ball stay in her court. After more silent minutes he felt rather than heard her chuckle against his ear. She jumped off the counter, pressing every curve of her body against his. Even then, he unconsciously tried to pull her closer, pressing her against his front and the tempered glass of the counter. Before he could do as he pleased with his new leverage, she wiggled out of his grasp and moved towards the broken storefront window, mask in hand. 
“It was great to see you tonight,” she throws a glance over her shoulder, readjusting the mask over the lower half of her face. “And I’m glad my assumptions of you were right.”
“What assumptions? What do you mean?” The confusion was almost palpable beneath the traces of cherries. He moved to reach for her, to keep her here for a bit longer. To explain herself. To not leave him. She evaded his grasp and leapt out the broken window. From outside the building she turned to him and aimed what was clearly Red Robin’s grappling hook out to the nearest building.
Instead of answering him she chuckled and tilted her head in amusement at his growing distress. 
“See you around, Tim.” Her parting words were lost to the air as she shot off with the grapple into the night. Red Robin stood frozen, rooted in place at the use of his civilian name. How did she know? Who exactly did he decide to get entangled with? Among the cacophony of new questions one thing was for certain.
He was utterly fucked.
