Like we all saw it coming. We knew that Lilly had Fadel's boyfriend killed. And we knew there would be pain when Fadel found out. But DAMN! The two of us did not follow that thought through to think about how just how devastating that would be. How Fadel would fall apart when he learned that not only was he not abandoned and betrayed by the one he loved, that he was the reason for his death.

dandelion is indeed the worst but if he’s not present in the next book i would legitimately be sorrowful as the whole thing will become a slog . you basically cannot have the “short stories” era-of-the-timeline iteration of geralt without dandelion, it would be like eating unbuttered bread.

though it’s not like season of storms did them dirty, i wasn’t disappointed with it (… with regards to them), but since it’s literally been over 20 years since the saga was finished i’m trying to prepare for any potential reality

The one time still are From a talented sonic artist which I won't name. I'd rather keep your identity safe Someone didn't do that.

So, I am blessed with the power to Google extremely well~ and he 1. Uses the same name on basically everything and 2. SAME PROFILE!

He's of course on Twitter, Tumblr, but also has a YouTube channel (as many people have an account) which all he does off it makes shitty comments on other YouTube videos...(typical troll behavior)

He has a DA which has a diffrent profile but I KNOW It's him becuse he likes those stupid ass, "Everytime IDW contradicts the games" and other post among his.....odd fetish stuff.

He also has two other sites, which he's one. One of them definitely is so strange and very old internet? And SO HARD to navigate and where he posts and likes a lot of well fetish stuff and the more odd underage sonic character content- namely a couple Cream the Rabbit things. (Not giving the sites name because I forgot)

Then he's on a more popular well known easier to navigate furry website, same name and all, with a self-posted galley of maybe one original work? But traced IDW character sheets? And an image of Kinetic and Pulse, who I assume is surge but... different?

He's not been active posting wise on a lot of theses but of course lurks and likes/favorites and saves things. He's a bit more active on the writing website vs the art ones.(as in posting)

I heard the rumor of him tracing/recoloring and it sent me on a wild hunt and I found SO MUCH on him. He's wound up on Reddit forms a NUMBER of times, people from years ago know of him, he's been kicked off and blocked on so much, it's WILD.

The only good thing I've seen him do, is a decent speech bubble edit of the IDW comics which was alright. Otherwise, he bitches and nags day and night which is sad.

He's said he could rewrite them, and there's was a little bit of him genuinly invested in wanting to essentially judt fix speech bubbles- but he gave up on it and has since then gotten on a porn kick of "Oh the SEGA/IDW writers made this for porn!! Ahaha!" Which is gross to me and not true.

Like the sceans in question are those silly more childish fight scenes of fighting, and it's meant to come off as wild and a bit cartoonish- IT'S A COMIC BOOK OF SONIC but anyways either here nor there-

RIP to the one artist however, I'm sure they were and are amazing! Takes a lot of make an IDW/Sonic character- (and I've been drawing them a lot lately and it ain't easier by much....)

Anyways that's all the stuff I have on him...so far..

In my heart, I felt as if Rayman is the type of Asian who has trouble with the phrases “I love you” and “I’m sorry”. 🤔

For context, saying “I love you” in Asia is something seen as very weird and uncomfortable (at least in SEA and EA? This goes for everything else I’ll talk about here). Rather, it’s much more preferred to say something like “Have you eaten today?”, “I miss you.” and “Please rest well.”… things like that. But in general, it’s just commonplace to show your love through your actions instead of words.

I feel like Rayman is the type of person to be exactly like this. I can see him saying all that stuff and doing acts of service as a way to express love/respect, a lot of anything besides “I love you.” (ヽ´ω`) I mean, it’s cute imagining him stumbling over trying to say it aha.

Well, he’s a popular figure who is admired by many, so he’s also heard it many times before. But the “he” that receives that type of affection is one behind a facade, so I guess in that context it can also come off as superficial.

As for saying “I’m sorry”, this phrase is very different in Asia as opposed to the West. Asia lives off of a very hierarchical society. This is something that’s very veryyyyy slowly dying out, especially in younger generations, but basically it’s unthinkable to imagine someone “higher in rank” saying sorry to someone lower. Rather, if someone in a higher rank yells at you, you surely upset them, right?! So it should be your job to fall to your knees and apologise… that’s basically how it goes. If someone higher in rank pisses you off, you’re supposed to just brush it off and pretend like nothing happened. You’re basically just asking for a death sentence if you ask them for an apology, no matter how kind you word it.

In the West, saying sorry is usually something more akin to mild to moderate empathy. So, I guess if I were to put it, saying sorry in Asia is like saying “I admit that I’m in the wrong and I’ll accept any form of punishment that happens to me. I deserve nothing but the absolute worst.”.

Funnily, this is actually something that happens in Captain Laserhawk. Rayman disrespects two people seen as people being in a higher position than him and faces punishment. Also with the whole grovelling apology to someone higher in rank than him, being forced to push hurtful things under the rug, being seen as the one in the wrong since he’s lower, etc… Even not being able to express being mad over something extreme without facing pushback.

Well, actually, I feel like Rayman partakes in both of these types of sorry. There’s something about him being seen as the lowest for a very long time, and even if he’s seen as an admirable figure, there’s a part of him that knows he’s still lowly. But I mean, I think that even if he didn’t experience that, he would still treat someone “lower” with a lot of respect. Actually, I don’t think he’d see them as lower either way.

In the end, I’d like to publish a Google doc (or maybe just post here haha) someday about why Rayman reads to me as Asian (adjacent). I hope you’re able to look forward to it. ☺️

hi res! i just finished it about an hour ago, been collecting my thoughts...it was very good. donna tartt has such beautiful prose, there were so many bits i highlighted, she really has a way of capturing such specific feelings/sensations so well. her writing's just sublime, this was a true master at work. esp after the previous four books i'd read, which were total duds, this was a breath of crisp mountain air for me (not surprising, since i devoured the secret history). i really enjoyed the large colorful cast of characters and meditations on art and art history, which i'm a huge fan of. i think the first two chapters are just. Excellent. there's a slow, meandering feeling as you're reading, along with a sense of paranoia pulsing just underneath the surface that's just. so good. and makes you keep reading on and on and on. i loved how it was part suspense novel, part coming of age story. however, i will say not all of it was as equally engaging; some bits i felt my interest wane just a bit. i personally enjoyed the first half more than the second half, but i really loved the overall message of the book, as someone who's deeply entranced with old paintings and any old piece of art, whether it's a painting or a play or a novel. i love that we can read something or look at something that was created so long ago and like...all that distance and time just vanishes, you become a part of its immortality, along with all the others who came before you hundreds of years ago. it's so beautiful to me, that humanity is connected to each other like that. i loved that a lot.

this is the longest book i've read this year at nearly 800 pages, and i took my slow, sweet time reading it (12 days), which is something i've never done before...usually i get through a book relatively quickly, but for this one, it just made sense. it was 12 chapters, and they were very long chapters. i'd read when i woke up and before going to sleep, and i feel like that was the best way to do it ... i really felt like i was going on a journey through theo's life. like it was just a totally different reading experience for me, i can't quite explain it, there was no....pressure. like it was really just me and donna tartt’s exquisite writing. it felt like going through a box of fancy chocolates, having one piece a day. i knew i had to savor this experience. it felt quite lavish and like i was spoiling myself, going so slowly. maybe it was the sheer length i just gave in to, buckled myself in for the long ride. it made me realize it's actually quite fun to read a long book and i shouldn't be intimidated of them. so for me, half the fun of reading the goldfinch was not just the beautiful prose and entertaining story but also the experience of reading itself. now that i'm done with it, i feel like i've woken from a deep slumber, like what now? i'll definitely let this one steep for a while before starting my next read.

so out of the two donna tartt books i've read, i will say, overall, i prefer the secret history! for its overall cohesion and atmosphere. but i'm very glad i read this, it'd been on my tbr for years and i finally got to it at the right time.
