Honestly, the naive part of me wants to believe Aka is doing this in purpose, because this chapter alone highlighted like half the reasons why I find romantic!Aqua and Kana so poorly written lmao

The writing in Aqua's and Akane's is so much better it's unreal 😂

I'm so glad to have confirmation that Goro's regrets were appeased by knowing that Sarina is living her best life as Ruby. Goro acting like an over-protective dad and Aqua reaffirming that Ruby is his precious little sister were the highlights of the chapter for me. Figures that once Aka finally gives us some Aqua insight, he immediately makes it clear where Aqua stands in regards to Ruby lmao

Goro is often personified as the guilt and regrets Aqua carried into this new life, but he is much more than that.

He is an entire framework of thoughts, complexes and experiences right there at the center of the individual we have come to know as Aqua. He is the entire base Aqua is built on, because when he reincarnated, he was just Goro - albeit a Goro thrown into a completely different situation, and a completely different life.

Of course, the longer Goro lives as Aqua, the more Aqua he becomes. He has been developing a new framework of thoughts, complexes and experiences that are more befitting of his situation and based on his current life. This all results in the Aqua we've come to known.

Up to now, Aqua has been simultaneously existing as the man he once was and the young boy he has become. But the man he once was is now feeling at peace knowing that Sarina-chan has gotten a new chance at life, which leaves the young boy he has become with one less reason to cling to a painful past.

But things aren't that easy, as evidenced by the fact that even after being "freed" by his past guilt, Aqua still has his black stars. As Aqua, he has regrets, guilt and issues of his own to overcome.

But it isn't just the revenge and the guilt, really. This, for example, is a confusion that has followed Aqua into his new life:

It's so incredibly ironic that it's "Goro" of all people who brings up Kana 😭 I've mentioned before that Kana has a lot of parallels with Ai and Sarina, and I theorized this may be one of the reasons why Aqua seemed so drawn to her from the get-go. And now we have Goro himself, the one who originally admired all of those traits, saying that Aqua likes Kana. It's like clockwork, except the clock may be broken.

The reasons Goro cites are so shallow and superficial, too. Perfectly fitting for an Oshi or a teenage crush, but hard to think of as anything deeper than that (for me, at least).

Which is even more ironic, because we end the chapter with Kana declaring herself as "seriously in love" with Aqua, when she herself does nothing but describe him superficially 😭

Kana has been basically living a shoujo manga in her head and Aqua is her chosen Male Lead 😂 It's like that time she thought Aqua was "straight and sincere", or when she thought Akane was a "goody-two-shoes".

Meanwhile, Aqua and Akane:

Poor Kana is out of her depth in this manga, but maybe that's the point. Kana is perfectly normal and that's just what Aqua needs am I right?

Seriously though, that's why I've always said that to me it doesn't really matter if Aqua and Kana end up together, because their writing is just... not it 😭 It's always just one giant trope without any depth of substance. It's no coincidence that these last three chapters are filled with tropes and forced writing. That's the way this ship has always been written in my eyes, and that's why it does nothing for me regardless of whether it's intended to be canon or not 😭

Aqua confirming (yet again) that he has been aware of Kana's romantic feelings all along could back-up what I said here and here. But at the same time, this could just be part of something as simple and unsubtle as this:

It's like there are two wolves within Aka. One is great at subtlety and organic development, and the other completely sucks at it 😂

But enough about that, I'm sure Aka will give me plenty to complain about next chapter so I'll save it until then lmao

Funny how Akane is magically not brought up this chapter. If we assume Aka is just writing obvious stuff without deeper meaning, then Akane isn't brought up because Aka considers Chapters 97 & 98 as their romantic closure. Or maybe all the theories about Aqua being a scumbag that only dated Akane because Kana wasn't available were right. But considering that would make Aqua trash not worth discussing, I can only hope Aka won't stoop that low lmao

If we give Aka the benefit of the doubt (does he even deserve it at this point tho), then Goro not bringing up Akane can be pretty fitting. Because if Aqua likes Akane, it wouldn't be because she fits the ideals and tastes of the man he once was. It would be because of everything they have been through together as Aqua and Akane.

Case in point, when Aqua thought of Kana and Akane back when he first thought he was free, he did so as fully himself. But I digress! 🤡

Another thing that caught my eye is that Aka deliberately changed the number of chapters in the previous volume just so these Aqua-Kana focused chapters can be in the same volume as the Aqua-Ruby focused ones. Ruby, who mainly loves Aqua because he once was Goro and Kana, who just loves Aqua. Maybe he's doing it to contrast them (in favor of Kana, duh), or maybe he wants to show they're two sides of the same infatuation coin. One can dream, at least!

Speaking about not nice though, what the fuck is this 😭 I know Akane is trying to push Kana's buttons, but baby girl is switching from I-only-see-him-as-a-son!! I swear!!! to Haha actually! so swiftly that she's going to give herself whiplash. Plus, can't Aka let Akane push Kana's buttons while saying less OOC stuff? Granted, it's not like Kana knows Akane well, so of course she doesn't think it's weird for Akane to say that she wants to be with a boy on Christmas lmao

Poor Akane has gotten her eyes shut so tightly close that it's a wonder she doesn't walk into walls. She's really acting like a robot on auto-pilot 😂 When in the world will you be allowed to have a chapter of your own, Akane? When will we be able to look into your heart?

I think I read some old posts about some RSA ocs, but I wanted to ask specifically if there's another "big" one in terms of story/being as fleshed out as Miss Raven 🧐 or if you ever plan to make another Big Oc™️ in terms of lore like u did for her

I get anxious about posting my art because its usually hand drawn, non-committal sketches 💦 I personally really like reading about other people's creative processes so I tend to scribble notes all over my drawings, and then they get all messy and cluttered... I'm glad you like them regardless though.

I like drawing Onee-san!Yuu’s art eyes and hair… She is very dainty and cute! Her personality is fun to toy with too, since how she acts and how she’s truly feeling are so starkly different. I’ve thought about her so many times, it’s almost like she’s psychically reaching out to me in an attempt to have me formally implement her 😂 Again though, not sure if I’ll ever settle on a Yuu because the concept of a Yuu does not really interest me.

Aaaah, my RSA OCs were back from like 2020-2021. I never did manage to flesh them out and I think I’ve lost the fire to. I have several NRC OCs that I haven’t shared because they aren’t that fleshed out either. Of those, I think my favorite is my twisted!Iago (who is in part also inspired by my own pet)… He’s just a punk ass (first year Scarabia) kid and Jamil’s self-proclaimed minion (Jamil has no idea who he is).

Ironically, I think the most detailed NRC OCs I have at the moment are the three based on mob students:

Even then, I don’t think they’re super deep… Pome A can be summarized as "ex-delinquent who now has the goal of becoming 'a gentleman'" (similar to Deuce, who wants to be an honors student). Scarab B is basically a Jamil fan boy (though he's less angry/pushy about it than Sebek is; he has more eager puppy energy). The most detailed one of the bunch is Octa A, who is very anxious (Idia-sh) due to being sorted into Octavinelle, where his dorm members are constant sources of stress. Outside of that, he's a very... homely "boy next door" type. I picture him coming from a tightly knit island town and helping out his family at a community center where they help people find jobs that best suit them. (If you couldn't tell, a lot of Octa A's backstory is inspired by the Lilo and Stitch animated series.) The mob student OCs were conceived because I thought it would be funny to sometimes write from the perspective of unrelated onlookers watching all of the crazy stuff that happens on NRC campus and just going, "What, AGAIN????" They feel more like unserious gag characters, if anything.

I have actually considered writing a sequel to the Tale of the Cursed Raven for the longest time! If you've read the original tale, Vil, Azul, and Idia play prominent roles throughout it. The second saga would theoretically give the other dorm leaders (Malleus, Leona, Kalim, and Riddle) importance. Note that 3 out of 4 of the dorm leaders in the latter group are nobles or have noble relatives. That's because the (potential) sequel would involve themes of social status and who gets to shape the future. A-And hey, maybe it could focus on Raven's relationship with L*ona instead of J word this time-- The synopsis is as follows: Having finally broken her curse, Raven Crowley is now free to live as she wishes in a happily ever after of her own making... or is she? One day, a strange invitation arrives from an unknown sender, beckoning her to Briar Valley. Amid whispers of Malleus Draconia's ascension to the throne and a grand ball to decide the dragon's bride-to-be, the timing is certainly strange. "This is far too suspicious," she thinks. "I simply won't go." Then a sparkling carriage pulls up to the gates of Night Raven College, claiming to be looking for a princess in black feathers. Accompanying that carriage are two men cloaked in white and a woman that shines like starlight.

"Who are you?" Raven asks, feeling as though they've met before in some distant past. "Why, I'm your Fairy Godmother. I'm here to make all of your dreams come true."

Perhaps this meeting was always meant to be.

(I WANT TO BE CLEAR: despite how the synopsis sounds, it is NOT meant to be Raven x Malleus. I would appreciate it if readers refrained from discussing this topic, please and thank you.)

As you can probably tell by that 💦 the story sounds very ambitious... and unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable writing it because we're still missing so much from the canon main story. I'd like the OB Malleus and Grim arcs to complete so I understand the full scope of the story and how the loose ends are tied up (particularly Malleus's reaction post-OB and how, if at all, he embraces change). More lore on dragon fae would be helpful as well. I'd also ideally like a Briar Valley hometown event so I can see what the culture, traditions, people, politics, etc. are like before I attempt to depict it in my writing.

In this sequel, there would be many OCs introduced--at least 4 of them! I've been cooking a lot behind the scenes ^^ One of these OCs you've actually met in the original tale; it would be the Enchantress (Estella) that originally cursed the Storyteller. 2 of the other OCs are what I would describe as Estella's helpers, who are meant to be her equivalent to Silver and Sebek. One is inspired by the concept of the “messenger dove + dove with the olive branch” and the other is inspired by Swan Lake. The 4th and final OC is basically all but confirmed would be a foil character to Malleus, an ambitious nobleman twisted from Nerissa (the villain from Enchanted).

Here’s some doodles I have of the 4 OCs I mentioned! The first two are “the dove” and “the swan”, respectively. The bottom two are concepts for twisted!Nerissa and Estella.

This sequel would expand more on Estella's motives and background (something I mentioned in my afterthoughts), as well as tie in history and political intrigue as Raven’s forced to navigate those circles. It would most likely be set a year or so in the future, and the events that take place would inform Raven’s internship decision in her fourth year. (She would be a scribe in Briar Valley!) I’d like part II to feel like a story event that supplements or follows up on the development in part I/the main story.

xbjsbsjsjsb Anyway 🤡 That’s all I feel okay with revealing for now. I want to be clear and reiterate that this is all just a theoretical sequel and I’m not sure if I’ll actually get around to writing it. It’s definitely been fun to conceptualize though ^^

It was later, and your shift was ending. Working at a bar downtown in Palmera City, you never knew what kind of rambunctious shenanigans would unfold. But, for Christmas Eve, it was quiet. It was a godly slow day, not many stopped by aside the few occasional regulars wishing good holidays. Thankfully, it was coming to an end. Setting up the bar stools on the table, and making sure all was clean, capped and put away. You slid out the door, locking it behind you. Palmera was nippy, but it doesn’t get too terribly cold around this time of year.

Pulling up your scarf you walked looking at the text message from Jaime, your lover. A smile blanketed your face.

Jaime: Close went good?

You: Yes. Just stepping out now.

Jaime: Need a pick up? I’m near by.

You: What, a roof top a block over?

Jaime: Hey, rooftops are peaceful. 🥺

You: So is being wrapped up in my bfs arms but, sadly you like rooftops more. 😈

Jaime: You’re not going to let me live that down huh? Also, lamp post. 😂😭

As you read the last part you halted immediately. You were a few inches from running into it. You took a breath in and smiled looking up to the sky to see a silhouette of a particular blue looking suited boyfriend of yours. But you knew he was grinning ear to ear underneath that mask.

“tfihs em oot sih edis.” You whispered. Now it was your turn to grin ear to ear as you materialize right beside him. You swore a squeak left his mouth.

“Dios mío mi amor!” He hitched his breath, dramatically placing his hand on his chest. “You know you could have just let me come down and meet you right?”

“Maybe I like the rooftops too.” You smile, and move in closer to embrace him. He embraced you back, and just like he read your thoughts, and well. Khaji reading his; the suit’s mask dematerialized revealing his gorgeous face underneath. And damn those beautiful brown doe eyes of his.

“You were just teasing me about it.” He rolled his eyes, his grip gently squeezing you.

“I know.” You placed your lips against his tenderly, running your fingers though his hair as he kissed you back just as sweetly. “I’ve missed you JaiJai.”

“Sorry for being gone a week, I thought we caught wind on a lead for Ted.” He said grimly. His mood changing only made you soften your expression with more concern.

“How’s Jenny?” You pulled away slowly. You still didn’t leave his touch though. But you knew making sure he was okay and being his emotional support is more important than craving deep intimacy at the moment from him.

“She’s doing well for someone who found out her father is alive. Just not knowing where he is, you know. She’s worried.” He began to explain, his tone and pace nerve racked. You could only assume because, Ted, being his predecessor. A man he’s never met before. Definitely an unregulated, stressful situation. Not only that, Jenny and Jaime had some moments together. But, she stepped away knowing you two were more or so in love with each other without each other knowing. She was the one, (and Milagro) who gave you both a push ironically. Now it’s been a few months after Jaime had Khaji Da infused within him, Victoria Kord, and Jaime’s father almost dying. It’s been rough, but you’ve been there. As a best friend and his lover. He is thankful, and you know it. Just as much as you’ve been thankful for him all these years.

“I’m glad, but we’re here for her. She has you. And Milagro always makes it her business to make sure she and all of us are okay. So honestly, Jenny will be alright.” You smile, entangling your fingers within his. “You will be alright too, got that mi querido?”

“Loud and clear.” He smiled brightly, fighting back his tears. You reached up, rubbing your finger against his cheek.

“So, do you still want to visit the tree in town square?” You ask, making sure he’s up for it. Yes distractions are nice too get away from everything but you can’t always run away.

“Of course. But I actually had a better idea.” His grin pulled further, a bit of mischief being one of your favorite signature looks that spread across his face.

“What do you have in mind?” You grinned back, curious to what your boyfriend had in store.

“Just trust me?” He grabbed both your hands gently and started to walk backwards, leading you too the edge.

“Always.” You tittered softly, turning back into a soft smile. He then lifted you into his arms. His wings materialized and off you two went. The view was beautiful, of course you’re used to flying via magic yourself but being in his arms with the breeze hitting you even if it was chilly was very peaceful. Soon you could see Palmera City Square, the large Christmas tree erect in all its multicolored glory for season cheer.

“So pretty.” You spoke softly. “What now?”

You both now hovered a far distance from and over the tree. The crowd gathered below enjoying the festivity. “I thought we could have a once in a life time experience not many normal people can experience.”

“Oh?” You tucked some of his curled hair behind his ear still nice and snug in his arms. “So we’re not normal?”

Your tease made him laugh. “I have an alien symbiotic peice of technology infused into my back and connected to every cell in my human body and you? Well, you’ve never been normal mi tesoro.”

The tease back earned him a gentle smack to his shoulder. “Wow, if this is your way too whoo me tonight I might just have to up my game.”

“Hey! I meant you not being normal in the best way possible!” He cheesed. And you gave him a kiss on his cheek.

“I know my love. So what now?” You beamed happily. Patiently waiting for his goofy, lovable plan of his. Because well, both of you were sixty or so feet in the air and you were beginning to wonder if people looked up wondering what or who was hovering above them.

“Well.” He then begin to help you to where you were now dangling closely together. But your feet hung out, and gravity wasn’t to kind. “Uh.” He laughed nervously, his plan not working in his favor for the moment. “I was going to see if we could just, dance? But, I honestly didn’t think this part through.”

“It’s okay Jaime, that’s why having a girlfriend with magic comes in handy.” You giggled. Holding him close. Taking a breath in you closed your eyes and met his again. “Ekam eht ria a ecnad roolf, kaolc su nihtiw eht thgin.”

With ease your feet met an invisible flooring underneath the both of you. He looked down awe stuck with bewilderment but quickly smiled back. “What did…?”

“Now we can dance.” You took your arms wrapping them around his neck. He tenderly held you by your back. From below Christmas music rang, the smell of peppermint and pine filled both your senses. Laughter and happiness from people all over could be heard. It was truly magical.

“Okay, so bear with me mi amor. My two left feet might become a problem.” His cheeks turned a tint of pink, and soon an even more embarrassed expression crossed his face. “No Khaji!” He looked over his shoulder in a fit of sheepishness. Your smile pulled further.

“What did she say this time?”

“She said she could help me learn because she indulged herself to the internet the other night.” He rolled his eyes yet again.

“Oh no, that poor thing.” You gasped in actual horror. “I hope she didn’t delve too deep into the endless web of dark and treacherous Fortnite dances.”

“Do not give her any ideas.” He widened his eyes. You laughed again. Waiting patiently. “Besides, even if I trip over my feet as long as I’m dancing with you no matter how bad I am - that’s all that matters to me”.

You blushed softly. “Me too. Then lead the way Jai.”

Slowly, he began to lead. His steps a bashful disaster. But, he kept at it, soon both you moving in a circle of rhythm. “I think, I think we got!” He looked down and snapped back up with his playful, dramatic expression of giddiness. One of the many things that you fell in love with about him.

“We are!” You pressed your lips together tighter, and he then placed his forehead against yours.

“Feliz navidad mi estrella.” He said softly as the bells began to chime signifying midnight. “I love you so much y/n.”

“Feliz navidad Jaime. I love you so very much too amor de mi vida.” You softly spoke back. A gentle kiss was exchanged, and the both of you continued to dance above the city square. Locked deep in each other’s arms, but more importantly deep within each other’s hearts. And man, were the stars so pretty tonight as they watched the both of you fall in love deeply.

Usual disclaimer that these thoughts aren’t necessarily canonical to the fic verse until/unless I write them into the actual story.

Jace’s thought about how she can’t hover over the future king forever makes me a bit sad. It echoes Aegon’s thought about how Alicent eventually stopped cuddling him because future kings aren’t supposed to be cuddled. 😭 I like to think Jace will keep cuddling her son even after he’s grown up and insists he’s too big for cuddles though.

Jace knows how to manage Aegon. She also figures out very quickly how to manage Otto. It helps that she and Otto both try to find a diplomatic solution first, and they understand the necessity of compromise. They strongly disagree on the best way to handle Aegon, but they’re at least willing to discuss it in a civilized manner.

Unlike in canon, Otto decides to gracefully volunteer for retirement. He’s achieved his main goal (putting Aegon on the throne), and the realm seems like it will be stable for a while. He also has confidence in Jace’s ability to temper the worst of Aegon’s habits. So Otto decides to quit while he’s on top. Sure, he’ll miss governing, but he can handle a bit of boredom if it means his legacy remains intact.

I like to headcanon that Otto is secretly an infrastructure and urban planning nerd, and he’s always wanted to lead a big project where they revamp KL’s sewage and sanitation system. Everyone needs a hobby lol.

I love the image of Otto interviewing a bunch of kindergarteners for the role of Elenar’s future Hand. 😂

Corlys, like Otto, is also a curmudgeonly old man with a lot of pride and not the best temper. But Corlys has a much different dynamic with Aegon, so Aegon will be able to work with Corlys…for a while.

I think Otto secretly wishes Jace could be Aegon’s Hand, because Aegon would listen to her 99.999% of the time. But Otto is pragmatic and knows that being a woman will count against her, so it probably won’t happen unless everything goes perfectly during Aegon’s reign. He doesn’t explicitly praise Jace for her abilities, but there’s the unspoken implication that he thinks she’s doing a good job. He’s also probably patting himself on the back for ensuring that Aegon married her.

Helaena’s “ghost” references mean Larys. The Lord of Harrenhal (a very haunted place) has basically been hiding in the walls, much like a ghost. She says “it comes and it goes,” a repeat of her firefly riddle in Ch. 4. And “ghosts used to be men too” is foreshadowing that Jace uses Larys’s human weaknesses (lust) against him.

While he’s been in hiding, Larys has kept tabs on the royal family’s routine so he can identify the perfect time to strike. Aegon eats with Smallfolk buddies regularly, and a bunch of the Targs and Velaryons like to have date nights. This is Lavender’s less tragic version of Blood and Cheese (book, not show version), where B&C spend a lot of time scoping out the royal family’s routine before attacking. Larys has the advantage of a) his whisper network and b) leverage over a bunch of castle staff whom he helped hire. It’s not a coincidence that the maid stops Rhaena from following Jace to her chambers, where Larys is waiting. Larys is aware that Aegon has been reluctant to use any Kingsguard but Criston to guard Jace, so once again Larys strikes when Criston is resting.

I finished posting Lavender shortly after S2 ended, so I was able to include a reference to S2E8 where Larys mentioned storing most of his family money with the Iron Bank (I think that’s what he said? It’s been a while since I watched the episode and TBH I’m not inclined to rewatch it). Braavos had a fraught relationship with the Targs, but Jace is determined to attempt diplomacy wherever possible. The Iron Bank speaks the language of money, so she sent two trusted representatives (her father and the master of ships), who happen to be from mercantile houses, to negotiate.

I originally thought about Larys pressuring Jace to kill/poison Aegon, so it would be a) more B&C-like in that she has a Sophie’s choice between her husband and son, and b) to hammer home what she said about doing anything for her son’s sake, including imitating Alicent’s example. But Larys’s primary goal is to escape with a lot of money, and it would be very dumb of him to think he could stick around in Westeros scott-free after he facilitates Aegon’s death. So instead he decides to pull a kidnapping/ransom scheme.

I spent a lot of time thinking about how Jace outsmarts Larys. I try to avoid depicting sexual violence just for the shock and horror value, and I had to think about whether the breastfeeding scene made sense story-wise. I think it does. A lot of Jace’s story involves using her limited assets as a woman in a patriarchal world to solidify her own power. There’s been a repeated theme of Larys being like other men, beholden to their baser instincts. Also, taking something that gives Jace joy (nursing her son) and twisting it into something depraved (forcing her to participate in his kink) seems like the kind of thing Larys would do to demonstrate his leverage over her. But Jace, who has spent a lot more time than she’d like with Larys, figures out his weakness (forcing someone in power to do what he wants) and turns it against him.

The tree that Daeron climbs up to the balcony is the same tree that Aegon climbs in The Golds Ch. 3 after Jace locks him out.

Jace knows Larys might kill her when he reaches her. She could’ve tried to climb off the balcony to save herself, but she has a baby to think about. She would rather ensure Elenar’s safety and give him to Daeron, even if it means she’ll certainly be violently attacked. Luckily, Daeron the Daring has different ideas.

Jace is on the verge of a panic attack, but she still tries to be queenly and give orders. Her dad is here though, and he tells his daughter to let him handle it. 😭

Jace usually advocates for peace and non-violence, but she has some of that dragon blood. We see a flash of it when she’s pleased by the thought of Aegon mutilating Larys’s corpse for her sake. She also doesn’t hesitate to order the maids be executed, because the maids endangered her son.

I love Jace’s line to Aegon about how “yes, Viserys loved you, but that isn’t enough, you deserved better.” She gives Aegon the validation he needs: he was worthy of love from his own father. But she also reminds him that just because Viserys loved him, that doesn’t make what Viserys did OK. Otherwise Aegon might start feeling guilty about Viserys, and Viserys doesn’t deserve Aegon’s guilt.

Mysaria proves to be a useful ally, but Jace is skeptical whether Mysaria’s loyalty can be counted upon. She doesn’t think Mysaria should be given one of the most important jobs in the realm just because she helped Aegon once or twice. At best, Jace thinks maybe they should allow Mysaria a probationary/trial period.

Aegon knew nothing about fashion when he married Jace, but by the time his coronation rolls around, he’s picked up on a lot about clothes. He definitely knows his wife hates black. 😄 He’s unusually interested in planning the coronation because, as we find out later, he’s planning a surprise coronation for Jace too.

Jace loves dressing Elenar in mini versions of Aegon’s outfits. 🥰

I like to think Elenar says “bah” a lot because he’s steadily working toward his first word, which is going to be “Pa.”

It’s been a while since Jace and Aegon did their striptease study sessions, but she is kinda turned on when Aegon demonstrates he’s been doing his homework about past Targaryen coronations. 😆

Aegon makes two promises to himself in Chapter 1. First, everyone will know Jace is first among women. Second, he’ll build a nicer throne for her next to the Iron Throne. He achieve/works toward both promises this chapter. The throne one is self-explanatory. As for the first among women promise, that’s tied to his vow that he’ll publicly empower Jace as his equal. It’s unprecedented since the Conqueror’s time for a Targ queen to be the king’s equal (and there’s room to debate just how equal the Conqueror’s sisters were to him), so this is the start of Aegon and Jace making history.

Of course Otto hired a painter to capture the coronation. I imagine the final painting will look a lot like The Coronation of Napoleon where Napoleon crowns his wife Josephine, though it would be Aegon and Jace in those roles, respectively.

It seems important/symbolic for Rhaenyra to crown Aegon. She was heir before him, and she has a chance to weaken his claim after Viserys died. But for the sake of peace—and especially for Jace’s sake—Rhaenyra agrees to make this public gesture. It also allows her a moment to be mentioned in history books, which she’s always craved.

The crown fits Jace perfectly and isn’t as heavy as expected. More symbolism for how Jace was destined to wear a crown and how she is able to bear the weight of duty more easily than Aegon.

Aegon makes a point of publicly celebrating Elenar as the Prince of Dragonstone because Viserys never did that for him.

Aegon thinks nothing of letting his infant son chew on the Conqueror’s crown, a very important relic. His son is more important than the past. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Introductions

Lottie had been intrigued by Bruce's new assistant. As the resident friend maker, she made it her mission to introduce herself and everyone else to you. Yes, she had met you briefly when Bruce had to run some tests on her but she didn't know you. In typical Charlotte fashion, she decided to follow you around for the day.

"Hi." Lottie sneaks up on you. Her quiet steps and soft voice pulled you from what you were focused on. "Can be your 'ssistant today?"

"Oh well," You looked around for Bruce but of course he wasn't there. Then you looked back down at the child that was staring up at you expectantly. Her bright blue eyes full of hope. "I'm not sure if you should be in here."

"No is kay. Am he-uh all the time."

You looked down at her again and noticed she had a lab coat with her name embroidered on it, safety glasses and her hair pulled back. She smiled while holding her pink teddy bear which had a matching lab coat and glasses.

"I uh-I guess."

Charlotte jumped in excitement and. "Am best 'assistant ev-uh."

“Pipsqueak what are you doing here?” Tony asks Lottie as he walked into Bruce’s lab.

“Hi uncle Tony. Am being a ‘ssistant.” She says with a smile before turning to you. “You meet uncle Tony? He so nice, he buys pwesents, an has pawties, and sometimes is a bo-bot.”

“I’m a bo-bot?”

“Yeah, a wed one. Is so cute.”

“I’m not supposed to be cute. At least not in my iron man suits.” Tony defends himself as Lottie stands on her chair.

“Uncle Tony is cute when not a bo-bot, too.”

“That’s more like it, pipsqueak.” Tony grabs Lottie.

You smile at their interaction. Lottie was certainly a character but you could see why she was so loved.

“You know what pip? You should introduce Y/N to the whole team.” Tony smirks when you glare at him.

Other than Tony and Bruce you really hadn’t interacted with any of the Avengers, except for Steve when you found him in your lab. Tony had tried to get you to join their little get togethers and dinners but you always refused. Now with seeing Charlotte so excited you were sure you couldn’t say no.

Charlotte pulled you along the hallway. The voices of the team getting louder the closer you got. This was not what you had planned for the day. You kept sending Tony glares but it just made him chuckle. Finally Charlotte lets you go and runs towards Steve. Her arms wrap around his neck and she presses her cheek against his.

“Habe new fwiend, Steebie.” Lottie announces excitedly as she points to you. “Say hi.”

Steve looks up to find you awkwardly standing by the entrance of the common room. A small pout on your lips and your arms crossed over your chest. It was obvious you didn’t want to be here. Still, he sends a smile and a wave your way. And at Lottie’s insistence he walks your way.

“Dis is Steebie. Is so nice an sweet. Steebie paints so nice. Is so stwong.” She lists all of her favorite things about Steve. She leans forwards and cups her mouth with her hand like she’s going to tell you a secret. “An is so old but still cute.”

“Hey, I can hear you.” Steve huffs playfully causing Lottie to laugh.

“Steebie is my best guy.”

“Hello Steve.”

“Hi.” Steve gives you a bashful smile.

“Steebie, wanna be down pease.” Lottie points at the floor and Steve puts her down. “C’mon.” Lottie grabs your hand and pulls you further into the room.

Everyone’s eyes are on you as Lottie pulls you further into to the room. She stops in front of the next person.

“Dis is Nat.” Lottie says as she pulls herself on the couch and onto Nat’s lap.

“Hi, Lots of love. What are you getting up to?”

“Auntie Nat, habe new fwiend.” She motions towards you. She smiles up at you before she starts her introduction. “Auntie Nat is so pwetty and smaht, we habe spa days and seepovers. But she kick your ask if you is bad.”

Everyone starts laughing. Lottie keeps going along the room. Every team member is excited to hear what she has to say about them.

Sam was next since he was sitting next to Nat.

“Uncle Sammy is so funny. An he boy pwetty.”

“What is boy pretty?” Sam asks, a smile tugging at his lips.

“Lots do you mean handsome?”

“Yeah, handsome.” Lottie nods her head. “Sammy is handsome. An can fly. But dada say he has biwdbwain.”

“I do not have a birdbrain.” Sam huffs.

“Is kay.” Lottie pats his forearm and moves on.

“Uncle Cint is sneaky. He wooks wike Cupid.” Lottie giggles to herself. “An he teached me how to talk with my hands. But sometimes he no wikes to wisten.”

“I’m teaching her sign language.” Clint explains before adding that he uses a hearing aid.

“Dis is Vision. Is so smaht and is a bo-bot all the time. An he is auntie Wanda’s boyfwiend.”

Vision gives a courteous hello. Then Charlotte is moving on to the next person. The team is very entertained to hear how she sees them.

“Dis is auntie Wanda. She makes wed magic. But it’s kay, auntie Wanda’s not spooky just a witch.”

“Hello Wanda.”

“Welcome to the team.” Wanda replies with a smile.

“You know unlce Buce, wight?” Lottie looks up and you nod. She leans in and cups her hand to tell you a secret. Everyone else also leans in to hear her. “No makes him mad. He goes wike dis…” Lottie bares her teeth and growls while she lifts her fists in the air and shakes them.

The rest of the adults are laughing uncontrollably at Lottie’s portrayal of the Hulk. You cover your mouth with your hand to avoid laughing at your boss. After everyone is done Lottie grabs your hand and pulls you back to the door.

“Kay bye.” Lottie waves.

“Wait, where are you going?”

“Am going to show new fwiends to Y/N.” Lottie says happily.

Unfortunately you don’t have to heart to stop Lottie from going around and introducing you to everyone she knows. Steve takes pity on you after 15 minutes and distracts Charlotte with talks about a movie night. That doesn’t stop her for long though because the next day she’s ready to introduce you to everyone else that she knows within the tower.

I knew this dude was sent by Aetos. So freaking sloppy! And the more this book goes on, the more I think Dain didn’t know about the War Games thing. He’s an annoying prick but I don’t see him being malicious enough to let Violet walk to her death. Plus, I actually don’t recall him shitting on people with a relic. He just seems to hate Xaden lol 

Welp, there goes my theory about Xaden being tortured lol

I find it hilarious that Xaden is so obsessed with Violet’s hair lol

Chapter 11

Banning people from knowledge in order to keep their corrupt secrets from the public is not sustainable. Sure, it drastically slows the distribution of information but the truth always comes out - it’s just a matter of when!

I wonder if the Scribes are translating everything from the old language in order to hide more lies

 Varrish grinning at Violet saying “dragons don’t take orders from humans” does not bode well. Has he found a way to control dragons? Or at least influence them with blackmail or something else?

Rhiannon is responding to Violet keeping secrets way better than Violet is to Xaden lol She’s like “hey, you’re hiding something and that’s fine but don’t lie about lying” with Violet. And Xaden is like “Honestly, I have secrets I can’t tell but here are all of the intimate details of my life.” Come on Violet! Quit trippin' and get back with Xaden lol

I don’t like the rift going on between Rhiannon and Violet this book. They need each other and it’s annoying lol

Alright 2 things that annoy me about this book so far:

1. The lack of Xaden and Violet scenes  2. Violet being mad at Xaden for keeping secrets from her in order to protect others

I know exactly who did this! A scribe! It was the person walking in the hood earlier that Violet noticed. I wonder if it’s her friend or someone else

I think the trouble with the writing of their relationship is that Xaden is so amazing and their relationship is so magnetic that their conflicts feel forced. The obstacles they face within their relationship are hard to develop when Xaden is always saying the right things after they fight lol Not that I’d want it any other way - but I think that’s why I’m struggling with not rolling my eyes when they get into arguments. Violet deserves to be angry about the betrayal but then it just feels like her decision on what she’ll do next about them takes FOREVER and it feels like it’s dragged out across a whole ass book.

Processing through Fourth Wing’s Ending thoughts with me Part 1 (of idk how many😂)

Haven’t started Iron Flame yet (I’ll do that tonight), but here’s some theories/ponderings as I process post-Fourth Wing’s first book (& ending)… so, prepare yourself for rants & Fourth Wing SPOILERS!!!

So, I’m thinking through Xaden & Violet after everything that went down😅😭🖤💔

Honestly, right now I think the biggest challenge Xaden is going to face in “winning” Violet back (if I put myself in her shoes… I’m probably getting to real-world projecting with it but…) the fact he didn’t tell her Brennan was alive. As someone who’s lost a sibling, if they were alive and someone could’ve spared me the agony of that grief and didn’t… that would be VERY hard to get past.

Now, I’m guessing the “clause” will be Xaden was protecting Brennan, and it wasn’t safe for anyone to know he’s alive (idk why but I’m sure there’s a reason). However, with that said it would still be VERY hurtful that they even thought Violet would endanger him (I get it, they didn’t know who she was; but Brennan did). He knows his sister. And He should know that she would do the right thing even if it was considered wrong by the republic (idk the right word).

And while I understand that Dain posed a grave threat (especially because Violet was so close to him and without a shield) that didn’t enter the picture until the past two years… so there’s still a long gap of lies there… and while I know at the time he “died” Violet was not a rider, he probably hoped she’d never even enter that section of the world or need to know/have reason to find out. And of course did not know Xaden (so he’s off the hook for all of that time period) and very likely was being protected from the knowledge by Brennan himself (again NOT Xaden). I think that hurt is going to be a hard one to work through, regardless of who’s “at fault” (if there even is an “at fault”).

Just like, a part of her lives with him permanently now and he can’t and doesn’t want to get rid of it and she’s all he knows and he’s wholly devoted to her

To answer your questions: Yes, Brennan will get his act together. The last time Xaden got drunk was, uh. . . so many moons ago I do not have an exact time, but years. And yes! It was a way to say that not only do people see their relationship differently depending on what they’re looking for, but Xaden views himself so differently from the way Violet sees him.

And yeah to that last one as well. I mean she loves all her kids beyond reason, but there’s something in the way she views Violet that’s so special to me

hi! I really love your analyses on aquakane stuff, so ive been wondering- what do you think about the bridge scene? (past the stuff with aquas guilt- you know, because people elect to ignore it) a lot of fans point towards it to being why aqua and akane don’t work together/aren’t interested, but something feels off to me. wdyt?

I kind of have a lot of thoughts, so this will probably be a bit messy!

Things that stood out to me about this scene, in no particular order:

It confirms that Akane saw through Aqua and knew he wanted to use her for something. This is important because it shows that despite what Aqua may think, Akane didn't stay by his side because he "bind" her to him, but because she chose to. Even more important is the fact that what motivated Akane's choice is that she saw through him and into the kind person he actually is.

Right here Akane is telling him: I see you. I know that you can be manipulative and sly, but I also know that above all—you're kind. This is huge for someone like Aqua, who thinks so little of himself and who blows his own flaws out of proportion.

It's also kind of funny in a sad way, because by this point in the conversation, Aqua was expecting Akane to agree to break up with him. After all, he tried to convince her (and himself) that their relationship wasn't real, and Akane proceeded to list all the ways he was right. You can see in that bottom-right panel above that Aqua is closing himself off, expecting Akane to walk out of his life for good.

And then Akane turns the tables on him because to Aqua's surprise, she wants their relationship to be real. She knows the kind of person that he is, and she still wants to stay by his side.

The funniest thing about this scene though is that Akane, sweet, inexperienced summer child that she is, thinks that they can become a real couple if they're intimate with each other 😭

She knows that normal couples kiss and have sex, so she assumes that's where the problem lies. For her, Aqua wanting to "use" her is a non-issue because she's known and consented to it all along. This is why she looks so confused when Aqua says that he has been deceiving her:

Because as far as she's concerned, she's known Aqua's intentions from the get-go 😂 Little does she know that she isn't talking to your typical hormonal teenage boy, but to one who has the mind of an adult.

That said, I do think that the way Akane is fine being intimate with Aqua despite thinking that Aqua doesn't like her that way is an issue. Once again, this reflects what I mentioned before: Akane doesn't know her own worth! But again, this isn't a problem born out of Aqua and Akane as a dynamic, but an issue that Akane herself has.

Moving on, I think this is the first scene that shows that there's a difference in the amount of (romantic) experience that Akane and Aqua have. Usually, when Aqua and Akane have scenes, they're pretty much equals. You wouldn't say that one is mentally behind the other. In this case though, you can definitely see that Akane has an innocence to her that Aqua has already lost during his life as Goro, but that's to be expected. What's really important here though is that despite this difference, Aqua isn't any closer to understanding romantic love.

So in that regard, he and Akane are actually closer than one may expect.

Moving on, I think Aqua's and Akane's conversation there does give Aka an outing if he decides to go for platonic AquaKane. Ironically, this outing isn't there because of Aqua; at the contrary, Aqua's behavior there would help set up a romantic AquaKane ending.

First, we're shown that Aqua does want to keep Akane in his life, he just talks himself out of it because of his guilt complex.

We're even shown Aqua trying to convince himself (and Akane) that their relationship isn't real.

Now, this could all be perfectly platonic in nature, but we later have Aqua admitting that he has thought of being intimate with Akane.

So, Aqua wasn't trying to break up with Akane because of the way he felt for her, but because of his guilt and for Akane's sake.

Aqua thinks Akane doesn't have romantic feelings for him, and Akane herself doesn't seem to know if she does because he is her first boyfriend.

Of course, we know that Aqua and Akane find their answer during the trip and that they decide to date for real, which suggests that their feelings for each other are indeed romantic. However, nothing is stopping Aka from revisiting that and going: Actually, they thought they were/could be romantic, but they'd be perfectly fine being friends too. Specially because Akane wanting to save Aqua doesn't hinge on Akane being in love with him, and same goes for Aqua wanting to protect Akane.

The thing is, though: that doesn't mean that Aqua and Akane don't work well together. I feel that some people try to deny any romantic involvement between them not only to shoot them down as a ship, but to shoot their dynamic down all together. But that's a moot point because the series has made it very clear that Aqua and Akane love each other. Whether their feelings for each other are romantic or platonic is besides the point: there is love between them and it's sincere, and it won't be any less important if it turns out to be platonic in nature.

Case in point, the bridge scene is great because it shows their care for each other. Aqua tried to let Akane go for her own good, meanwhile Akane wants to stay by his side not only because of the way she may or may not feel for him, but because she sincerely wants to help him. She doesn't want Aqua to carry his burdens alone anymore.

Aqua appreciates this, and he opens up to her. She is the first person he shares his troubles with, and Akane lends him a listening ear and acknowledges how hard it must have been on Aqua. Aqua dealt with it on his own from the get-go and we never saw him complain, but it must have been hard on him and it's great to have someone acknowledge that even if he won't acknowledge it himself.

Everything he can tell Akane, he shares. From his findings, to his feelings.

And I think the panels above are the most important ones, because this is the moment when Akane starts to realize that Aqua has been lying to himself all along. He doesn't want to have revenge, he wants to be free. And in true Aqua fashion, now he is blinding himself to the very obvious loophole because he is that desperate to be free.

Akane gets this and she acts accordingly. Unlike Ichigo, who royally messes up by completely overlooking the fact that Aqua was desperately clinging to that loophole to break free.

Ichigo realizes it too late and he breaks Aqua. Akane wants to keep Aqua from breaking, so she plays along knowing that being free is what Aqua truly wants.

I'm stopping myself here because it feels like I've been rambling forever and I don't even know if this was half-way coherent or if it addressed what you wanted me to talk about anon, sorry about that! lol
