Rock the ballet

Ok so it was generally rly gay coded lol

Especially rocket man

SKy was the protagonist in rocket man btw hehehehe

-Sky (wearing a white pollunder) was looking at the audience and danced and it looked kinda like he was reaching for the stars. There was a lot of priuettes and fouettes and other turns. Then another guy (wearing a black tanktop) came out and they danced. Together. They were lifting each other up and sometimes they picked up that ‘reaching for the stars’ theme again and it ‘worked’ even better like that. I really liked that they also took girls parts of those steps. During the Chorus the other dancers would come out but only as background dancers.

In the end everything went a little slower and they started to line up, then everything went super fast for a second and then the music stopped and they all stood still. Everyone left again except the two and then they danced together again for a short moment but this time kt was like slow dance. They went in circles and looked at each other. That was SOOO gay u dont understand. Then the other guy in the black shirt left the stage but they were reaching for each other and Sky tried to hold onto him but eventually he couldn’t pull him back anymore. I think it was supposed to imply death taking a lover? Couldn’t say for sure tho. Then Sky was alone on the stage again and danced for another minute and the choreography looked really pained and like he tried too hard because it was really fast. He was mainly on the ground trying to reach up again but had a rly hard time. BUT HE DID MAKE IT. It was just harder now. He ended it the same position that he started in, looking at the audience but he looked up (he looked me directly in the eyes hehehe) like he looked at the stars and half heartedly raised an arm again to ‘reach for a star’ it was kinda giving Eliza’s gasp at the end of hamilton tbh.

I also liked that the guys werent the only one’s that were shirtless: so were the girls, and when it came to the part where they took off their jackets so did the girls. Also when the girls wore skirts, so did the guys.

Every song had somewhat of a protagonist

And each song had its own little story

-the best one in my opinion was where a girl was passed around between the guys back and fourth and they all just danced playfully with her briefly and then in the end there was one guy who like caught her and held her and she fell back and he caught her and went down with her. It was a clear message.

But there WERE established couples that weethe same through the show

Smt else that was rly cool was that girls had men’s choreographies.

-like in one song there was a girl as the protagonist and all the guys were ‘hitting on her’ but there was one girl with them. The guy-parts were all wearing college Jackets (and no shirts) and she did too. The song showed the female protagonist dancer playing with them all and while I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t intended, the chemistry between the girls was smt more? In the end it was the female dancer that ’got’ her and stayed until the end when everyone else left. I think it was meant to show power of friendship but it felt gay idek.

I filmed part of the second act. Just when i planned to stop filming Born This Way came on so obviously i didn’t stop. Same for Somebody To Love.

The only thong I didn’t like, was that in ‘Born this way’ the only clear couple that was established was a straight one

-At one point there was a lyrics “take a seat” and one of the girls just straight up took a seat ON one of the guys.

-Something else that was really cool was that they formed a car of their bodys: front guy (‘bumper’) was like hunched over, the ‘driver’ of the car had her feet there, two guys made the ‘seats’ and she set on another hunched one, and one that held her back. Two guys held her arms and were somewhat the windows. The car actually moved so it was rly cool. The ‘driver’ later (when they werent a car anymore) had an imaginary cigarette. She ashed it off and I rly rly rly liked how they made that into a dance move but theres more. When she “finished the cigarette’, she threw it on the ground and “stumped it out’ and that was even better made into a dance move.

Nivi, just my two cents on how Stephanie (I'm just gonna go with the name for now - love it btw, she totally would name her after Steph - cause I don't wanna keep writing 'the kid' lmao) came to be:

Like totally agree with wanting P to step into a proper parent role, but in terms of Azzi either adopting or opting for a donor, I feel like that's obviously then a very conscious and purposeful decision on Azzi's part to have a kid. Which is totally fine ofc! But idk, I just feel like at that point in her life and career (what, she would have been 25/26? Based on the timeline you gave us), I just don’t see her making that decision already especially if she's gonna be a single parent? Again, not that she couldn't do it, it just feels like she wouldn't.

And I know one-night-stands kinda seem like a cop out or the easy way out of not having to introduce or have the other parent around but I don't think it would be that out of character? People have one night stands, and sometimes sex produces babies no matter how much protection you use ya know 😅. Also, yes I know that choosing to keep the baby is still a conscious decision to have a child but it's not like it was her intention to have a child going into it - am I making sense??

So I guess in that vain, adoption would make sense too, if it was certain circumstances that led to it, rather than her purposefully being like "ok I want to have a kid now and I wanna do it via adoption". Idek I'm sorry if I'm speaking total bullshit.

Again, just my thoughts! Totally ignore if you want!

Other thoughts:

Oooo ok so Stephanie and P have already met in previous games, yes ok I like this development haha. So much potential. I still stand by Tim being the instigator, like he'd go up to P to say hi whenever Azzi's team was playing P's and lil Steph would be hiding behind his leg. 😂 And one day (before P ends up on Azzi's team), P has like a lil toy ready to give to her at one of their games and Stephanie clings on to that toy from then on (despite Azzi's protests).

Hahah yeah I was thinking trade too - well I guess if we wanna be semi-realistic, it could just be that P requested a trade and you know whichever team she was on obvs had to seek the best value and Azzi's team just happened to be the ones to give it to them. And then I can just imagine when P gets the news about the trade going through and realises which team, she's like "oh fuck that's not what I meant" 😭

Also, those flashbacks to when they were together and the time they were apart are gonna hit, I already know (if you choose to incorporate them ofc). Oh my god, like when Azzi goes into labour (if we go the pregnancy route) and she's maybe wishing more than anything that P was there with her or just like moments where she's craving having another person to go through the journey of parenthood with and her subconscious always immediately thinks of P 🥲

And then on the flip side, everytime P comes across baby/kid stuff, she also prolly always ends up thinking of Azzi and lil Steph, even more so after she's met the kid.

I'm also assuming that similar to the UCLA fic, we're not having Azzi tear her ACL again and so they would have both declared for the 2025 draft? Were they already broken up by that point? Cause damn, that would have been a tense and heartbreaking draft night! Cause if they were broken up by then, their break up would potentially have happened in like the week or sum between the natty and draft night? So many possibilities.

I also just remembered that the Fudds have a dog named Curry - damn, Steph getting the dog AND child namesake. He deserves it, i reckon.

Yeah I've been calling her Stephanie, Stephie for short, in my head so I'm pretty sure that's her name now...

My inbox is currently just ask after ask about how they want/think Stephanie came to be (I swear I really would like to reply to everyone but it's just a liiiiitttle bit exhausting) and I'm just very amused but as always, you and I are on the same wavelength. Like I know some people really want sperm donor/adoption (I love y'all I promise), I just can't really see her at that age and at that time of her career, purposefully trying for a child. I think it's different if she decided to keep the child after a ONS because well it's already there? Idk if that makes sense cause I don't know how to say it really but there's just a difference in my head about that?

WAIT I LOVE THAT AWWWW. But yeah Stephie and P have definitely interacted before and even if it's only a couple of times a year, I think they'd already just a little bit enamored, so when P becomes her coach, it doesn't take long for them to become wrapped around each other (spoiler?)

As we all know, I do love my flashback so trust bestie, there will be plenty, some angsty, some fluffy but a lot of flashbacks!

I actually am gonna keep Azzi's injuries in this one cause I want to keep all of the UConn lore similar to reality (yes this is me just wanting to add a cruise scene again...) so they'd actually go to the draft in different years and this may or may not (I'm not even tryna tease I actually haven't decided) play a little bit of a part in the break up (how? idk we'll find out)

LMAO Steph is also an honorary Fudd atp and will absolutely be meeting Stephie at some point in this fic

AH I ALWAYS LOVE YOUR SONGS REC!! Babes have you already made a playslist?? I think my main song for this fic might end up being Last Kiss by Taylor Swift (yes another Taylor Swift song I know) because "so I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep" just feels very apt for them.

Hello, hello, hello and happy Sunday. Thank you @aroace-genderfluid-sheep, @confused-bi-queer, @bookish-bogwitch, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe and @coffeegleek for the tags.

Today, posting period for the Klaine Back-to-School challenge has started, but I am still stuck on the ending. Am I the only one who, like, tries to daydream fic scenario's first, just to see how it goes? The daydream unfortunately ends at Blaine taking Kurt to meet [REDACTED]. What happens next??? TELL ME, DREAMS!!

As the banner suggests, I am still finding my feet in this new podcast world. I figuratively threw out my old recordings and I rerecorded everything as a .wav file in an app recommended by @cutestkilla. I am going for the "keep your fuck ups in the recording and edit them out later" approach, since that does sound easier. @thnxforknowingme did offer to help with Audacity if I need it. And I will need it. I spent a long, long time getting these 25 seconds for this post:

Right, getting that little audio snippet was hell because I even had troubles with using the copy and paste options and then I had troubles saving it as a file. It also cut off a small part, cause the audio is supposed to end with "blooper reel or whatever", but that's mainly because I had to edit this... without sound on. Apparently Audacity doesn't like earphones and it just plays from my laptop speakers which is not fun in public, so I had to time it from the full audio and hope for the best. Well, it almost worked.

This will be a learning curve, or whatever it's called. But I said it before: I like how welcoming @caught-on-tape-fest is, because it is open to people with all sorts of experiences with podfics. I mean, I have none. Same with editing. I can make it as easy and comfortable as I want it to be. I see people in the Podfic thread talk about things that mean nothing to me, but I don't feel any pressure to do any editing magic. Well, I do want to add a kitten meowing to one of the files, but all the stuff about isolating sound or reverbing stuff or whatever (idek if I use the right terms here) or editing out certain sounds.... that is next level for me now, but yeah, it's great that I don't feel any pressure to do those things and that's an easy way to get into the podficcing world.

Although, while editing the file to get that snippet, I found out that there is a weird disruptive background noise in the later half of the file and I do not know what it is or how it got there, because my other files don't have it and I recorded the three fics in one go. Weird. Might redo it, if I don't figure out how to fix it. It was around 500 words, after all.

So there’s another one of those cool Hermitcraft trivia posts circulating again which I kinda wanna reblog but also I’m feeling a little bit hesitant because some of the points seem maybe a little bit inaccurate or exaggerated? Like I’d like to fact check them first at least.

(Particularly what stuck out to me was the point about season two only happening because Joe did a coup, because that’s not how I understood that story the way Joe and Xisuma have told it? Or at least as far as I can remember... the impression I had was that Xisuma was mainly the person who took the initiative to keep the server going but Joe was one who broke the gridlock on whether or not they should add new members by just straight up inviting Cleo without asking the others.)

(So maybe a more accurate way to phrase it is that without Xisuma season 2 wouldn’t have happened, but without Joe, season 2 might not have had any new members. And at this point the only still currently active Hermits who were already on the server were X, Hypno and Joe, so the lineup could have turned out very differently, if the server had even survived past season 2.)

(I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure this is how I remember hearing it?)

But what actually annoyed me was this comment from someone (not OP, to be clear) in the notes:

(Don’t go looking for this please, and don’t harass this person, I’m just highlighting this because it’s an example of an attitude you see a lot. It’s not just this specific person who I don’t know at all and whose url I already forgot.)

I don’t wanna start counting diversity points on each server like it’s a fucking game, but I DO wanna point out that the “white guy“ comment is pretty rich coming from a Hermitcraft fan.

Both servers have a white guy problem.

But at least with Dream SMP I can actually think of more than one creator who isn’t white, and it didn’t take them until season 2 to add a second female member...

(I know Hermitcraft is more of a private and closed group and they have extremely strict qualifications they demand from new members, plus every current member has veto power, so it’s much harder to add new Hermits than it is to add new DSMP members where it’s all decided by One Guy, but I think some frustration about this is still justified due to how big Hermitcraft is in the MCYT community.)

It’s also extremely annoying when apparently there was a whole thing where Hermit fans were insisting that Quackity is white during the sexyman polls?? Presumably just to excuse their shitty behaviour??? idek. (And I also heard on the other hand that there were some straight up racist comments made about Quackity as well. He literally cannot win, apparently.)

What is this weird attitude towards new creators?? Yes, it’s cool that Hermitcraft has been around for over a decade and that the Hermits have all these cool histories in the community and even influenced the development of the game itself, but you can celebrate that without needing to put down new people, ffs.

I know it’s annoying when the new guys suddenly get more popular than your guys, but it happens, it’s the circle of YouTube. Please chill out. No need to be a hipster about it.

Besides, even if we don’t count people like Vikkstar who admittedly didn’t play on DSMP all that much, there were still people on the server who had long histories in the MCYT community:

Phil has been making Minecraft videos at least since 2012, when he started his first Hardcore Series, and holds the record for the longest running hardcore world to date. There’s a splash text in Minecraft referencing him (”Ph1lzA had a good run!”)

Techno started his channel in 2013 and was part of the Hypixel player council (or was it called the Elite Team back then? Not sure) since he was like 14 or 15, helping with testing and game design on many of the iconic Hypixel games before the server became the biggest Minecraft server in the world. He too has a splash text in the game (”Technoblade never dies!”)

BadBoyHalo has his own PVP server called MunchyMC which was launched in 2015 and before that he was part of the staff on a different PVP server.

Also while more recent, a whole bunch of DSMP members were also on SMP Live and SMP Earth back in 2019. In fact 2019 was when a lot of the DSMP members originally got their initial boost into popularity.

Honestly the only DSMP members who fit the description of “new white guy who popped up in 2021“ are like... probably Foolish and BoomerNA??

I think you probably meant 2020 anyway, because that’s when Dream, George, Sapnap, Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo became popular. I assume so anyway because those are usually the white guys people actually seem to be talking about when they talk about DSMP white guys. (Obligatory note that Ranboo is in fact nonbinary though.)

tl;dr:

You can just hype up the Hermits and just not say anything about DSMP. That’s an option. Especially if you clearly don’t know that much about DSMP.

literally nobody will read this but that's fine. okay honestly idek. like. how to properly get into things anymore or dedicate myself to them but also. it's insane but when i don't have an obsession over something i don't know how to live 🤣 like i actually become really miserable even more which is not normal i need to have obsessions to keep me afloat and to dedicate my entire personality to. like i remember when i wasn't into anything i was so miserable all i did was dedicate myself to my ex which is so bad don't do that like i did. but then i suddenly got into genshin and oh my god i played the game day and night i got sooooo into everything like i suddenly had something to look forward to again and idk. it only feels right to exist when i like something alot .

and then i got into skz later on but the thing is like. i love skz but i can't stan them i don't think i can stan anybody actually. i can love them and appreciate them but i've outgrown stanning i think. i talk about this everyday and literally nobody cares but well i wanna talk about it it's my blog ha ha. but yeah ummm. the thing is also i find it really hard to find friends when i don't have an obsession because i literally have no personality it's worrying genuinely . is this normal. it doesn't feel normal. or is it. am i overthinking or am i right. we all have something we relaly love and that's nice but why do i feel like i handle everything really unhealthily 🤣

then again. life is boring when you don'r have interests . it's nice to connect stuff to your interests and make memes dedicated to them and find a community which i find most important!!!!!! i'm so happy i found friends . and you guys also somehow stick around with me when i don't post skz which is so crazy i cab't believe people follow me and like me i literally think there's people who hate follow me mainly. i'm normal.

whatever ummmm what i initially wanted to say is . getting into new stuff fully has become really difficult for me ever since i started my job in late 2021. it's really hard for me to feel satisfied and joyful and when i DO feel it it's only for a short moment and then i feel bad again. like i remember when i played omori i felt so sso fucking happy but then it was over and i felt like the life gor sucked out of me and i don't know how to properly get into the community either JDJFKCJD i think i had luck with stayblr!!!! but i was also manic around the time i joined 😭

UGH what am i even saying now i'm sharing my entire life story like girl what is this a biography. anyways i wanna get into nct a little more or into more groups properly like mx nct pentagon not just half half but idk how to keep up with everything properly anymore cause i'm so depressed🙌🏻‼️😍 OK BYE

Hello again! Apologies if my answer is short, I am ill and very tired but I wanna reply.

Computer science is so cool!! What sort of stuff do you do with that? Programming or uhhh...here's where I show my lack of computer science knowledge...anyways I'm curious XD (Saw you said coding later!! That's so cool!!!)

I getcha XD My other uncle has dogs too! Ex racing greyhounds, he likes to give them a happy retirement. They can be chaotic but I can't blame them too much, they were trained to chase small things after all! As a kid I accidentally stepped on one of their tails...I felt so guilty!! But the dog was chill and I gave him a treat to say sorry XD

I've been making a lot of trousers recently cause I realised I owned like...2. Except then I get more and more ideas and have to narrow them down XD The current pair are...sort of almost done. Made, fabric hearts sewn on, the sequins will go around the edges of them, but it's gonna take a while. Wearing them anyways in the mean time XD

Blade: Lark is a good little soldier girl and, professionally, is obedient and respectful - perhaps to a bit of an extreme degree. At the compound, or in moments of downtime during missions, she's much more comfortable and casual around him. He sees her as a good friend; she doesn't know this and is still trying to become friends. They'll figure it out.

Tallys: They're on good terms but aren't very close. Lark asks too many blunt questions and gets lost in the sneaky dance of Elven conversation too much to truly understand what Tallys is saying. Tallys thinks Lark is too forgiving and idealistic to see as completely reasonable. However, Lark does have a gentle soul and likes to join Tallys in foraging and caring for nature, so they have some common ground to keep things breezy between them.

Trouble: Quickly became close, though Lark lasted about a few weeks calling them “acquaintances” rather than “friends.” While helping Trouble clean that wall (in his first hangout), she tried to stay stiff, formal, but still kind. It wasn’t until she helped him investigate the Equalists that she admitted this cold front act of hers wasn’t doing anything for her. Within the span of that one night, she tumbled from aloof recruit to trusted friend. Her feelings only deepened, and at record speed. She’s been sending signals and dropping hints forever - awkwardly and of course in her hot-and-cold, indecisive way - but Trouble is even worse and can’t pick up on any of it.

Shery: Kindred spirits. Can be found occupying a room together and silently working on their own needlepoint crafts. Lark asked Shery to teach her how to do various home building activities. People think they're both too shy and awkward to speak to each other, but they find they can have a silent understanding of each other and be just fine.

Chase: Originally didn't get along because Lark was intimidated by knowing that he could talk his way out of anything she tried to get him to do if he really wanted to. However, the two people closest to her are also close to Chase, so they inevitably spent some time together. Now the two are good friends, with Lark offering as much of the unconditional support he'll accept and Chase making sure she doesn't float somewhere dangerous with her head in the clouds so often.

Riel: Lark is intimidated by Riel, and he’s probably the one she “dislikes” the most. Riel is a genius and can get people to do his will a myriad of different ways, and even though Lark isn’t nearly as smart as he is, she knows her way around mind games. She’s determined not to let him move her around like a chess piece and hates when he ends up proven right, even (and especially) when she’s agreed with him from the beginning. She does appreciate his dry wit, though she is probably a little too sincere for his tastes.

Red: They are cordial. Both find the other easy to get along with, but Red moves too fast with grand topics too quickly for Lark to keep up and Red can tell when Lark stops listening to him because she got frustrated or overwhelmed. He does sometimes help her study, and when their usual groups are preoccupied they eat meals together. They just don’t seek each other out all that often.

Ayla: Since Ayla and Trouble bicker like siblings, Ayla and Lark’s relationship takes on a dynamic sort of based on that; Ayla views Lark as her “brother’s” girlfriend (that she likes more than her “brother”). Ayla often steals her away from Trouble (whether to tease one of them or just because that’s where she knows to find them), but they wouldn’t be such good friends if they didn’t also have Trouble as a common factor. Also, where Lark keeps Trouble from getting into trouble, she doesn’t have that kind of pull with Ayla.

Halek: Lark secretly looks up to Halek a lot, mostly because she’s insanely interested in her Hunter heritage. However, Lark is a try-hard and Halek is…the exact opposite, so almost every day she has a sobering moment of the “never meet your idols” variety. Her respect for him is generous, but not entirely unfounded at the end of the day. Halek has caught on to this a bit and enjoys it thoroughly. She doesn’t act reverent and obnoxious because he’s the Sol, and she’s entertaining, so he doesn’t mind the baseless respect she has for him too much.

Briony: Good friends that wish they could spend more time together. They both have that belief in goodwill and ability to make everyone like them, at least a little bit. When they do have each other’s attention, they’re often both talking quickly and excitedly about something deep and personal. They don’t waste time and they’re known to have boundless energy when together. They also like to IMMEDIATELY spill the tea to each other when they can. Lark has mistaken Briony for Qilan and Qilan for Briony from behind multiple times.

Lavinet: Lavinet likes to dote on Lark, and while she doesn't mind it too much, Lark wishes they could be closer and more genuine friends. Whether due to their limited time together or too much of a difference in their upbringing, they’ve not yet reached that point. They are on good terms, though!

Mimir: Friends, even though Mimir's manner of speech can confuse Lark. Oftentimes, Lark seeks Mimir out - she finds her presence calming in an arduous sense, like meditating beneath a waterfall. Mimir is more talkative around Lark, almost as if she thinks she has to entertain Lark when she has her company. Lark sometimes gets the feeling that Mimir sees her as some type of pet - or perhaps a docile little forest creature - in need of enrichment and engagement, rather than a real friend.

Croelle:

Qilan: Besties. Attached at the hip. Soulmates. I like the idea of them purposely both being kithma…like they were made by the gods to enhance the other’s power 🥺 they also (accidentally) balance each other out, especially in terms of how their similar backstories made them turn out. Lark found small shreds of kindness and community and eventually became a bleeding heart, while Qilan was forced to live on her own and cultivate lands of ruin to something she could use to sustain herself. Sometimes they kinda see each other as "Qilan is everything I could be if I wasn't such a failure"/"Lark managed to keep hold of that one precious thing that I've lost, that ability to love". But they are very close....forever.... It’s a bonus that their attachés are good friends too. They are an INSEPARABLE group. Do not even TRY

Currently, in the version of events where Lark and Qilan are BOTH the MC, I imagine they were both created by the gods in an effort to maximize the chances that at least one of them would be able to succeed in their task. Lark and Qilan never meet until they were both assigned to protect a caravan (before the events of canon.) This caravan didn't care much if the diminished fraternized or not, so Qilan spent half the journey both befriending Lark and dropping hella hints. (Perhaps both being the gods' special little dolls drew them to each other too...) Anyway, Qilan definitely successfully seduces Lark during this trip (it is a positive experience that helps Lark understand her asexuality and boundaries btw) and they part ways, expecting to never see each other again. ...then they both get assigned to Prihine's caravan. Qilan is assigned to Prihine, while Lark is either there to accompany some merchant that's better off that the rest or a guest of the wedding. Either way, Qilan and Lark aren't allowed to talk while on this journey, though Caine willingly winds up being their middleman sometimes. At the wedding, there's either twice as many demons descending upon Caine and Prihine or they both use the WOP to stop the demon and later are like "dangit one of us could've save ours!" Or maybe they share the WOP pool and have to split the seven between them. These details do not matter rn only the drama does. ANYWAY.....by the time they both recover and settle into the Shepherds, Qilan and Lark are basically inseparable. They are always around each other, everybody knows they're a set even before they discover that they are literally two halves of the same soul. Even once Qilan and Lark find themselves with, ahem, romantic entanglements, they still sometimes act more like a couple with each other than with their beau (i.e. going to each other to patch up wounds or when seeking comfort). So, to repeat: do NOT separate!!!

* HISTORY * ༉‧₊˚✧

Lark grew up in a sheltered little farming town, daughter to the heads of the community and heir to her father’s little farm. He kept chickens, and though Lark was taught how to do the entire process, she never got comfortable with killing the ones that they were to eat. Maj was a very close-knit community which often treated children as if they were everyone’s charge, not just the parents'. Lark gained a lot of skills from people in the community, including learning her instrument from a lonely, grumpy old man on the other end of the village.

Though she was expected to take over the farm and possibly as leader of the community, Lark dreamed of becoming a scholar. There was no way for this to happen - not when learned Mages were seen as so dangerous, plus the formal education in Maj was not quite up to the standards of most academic circles - but she still hungrily read every book in the village, trying to teach herself and broaden her horizons.

When the demon attacked and Maj disappeared, Lark immediately ran away. She didn’t know where to go or what to do, but staying in the open field, not even a single dogwood petal on the grass when there should’ve been houses and dirt paths and at least bodies - triggered too much of a panic. She hated the suffocating fear of being entirely and unexpectedly alone. Even worse, she hated that she felt abandoned, as if it was ever their fault that she couldn’t save a single soul.

Soon, a shady man found her and recognized her iladrin. He took her in with the promise of shelter, food, work and a new family. Still a young teen and obviously vulnerable, Lark readily agreed and found herself the newest attraction of an illegal traveling sideshow. The man kept dangerous animals in cages too small and mistreated his workers - all of which were Diminished of some kind, illegally using their powers to entertain people. Lark was a hypnotist, forced to use her magic to convince people to do whatever she wanted and keep up the act. The first time she refused, her meals were withheld from her and she was hurt so badly they had to cancel her performance that night. Eventually, somebody reported the sideshow to the Inquisitors, and Lark was lucky enough to have been out when they besieged the show.

For a while afterwards, Lark drifted around from town to town, selling small embroidered handcrafts to feed herself. When she stayed in one town for a while, she’d take commissions for clothing or tablecloths - larger projects worth more money. But she always left, afraid the Inquisitors or even her old ringmaster might find her.

She managed to get a job as the security personnel for a jeweler, a position she held for a year. However, her boss’ son stole from the store and blamed it on her. Though he was a kind man, he couldn’t accept that his child had done that to him and fired Lark over it. The son didn’t bring enough “evidence” to warrant charges, but the man still let her go for allowing things to be stolen in the first place. Then she got her job as a bodyguard, mainly guarding caravans, and the rest is history.

Lark winds up absorbing the thoughts and feelings of others (not magically, just empathically), which lends to her rather dramatic mood and countenance swings. In Maj, she was happy and confident, a beloved child of the leader and all around ‘little charmer.’ After the incident, she was disposable and unwanted, so she shut down. In the Shepherds, she’s valued once more, so she adopts her friendly, welcoming persona once again - the one that comes more naturally to her. Once she loses the voices, she feels unimportant and severed from the piece of her that gave her worth, and she starts shutting down again. Her sensitivity to the wants of others - and wanting to be wanted by others - makes it more extreme than a simple trauma response.

Despite her difficulties in structured, formal learning, Lark has a sharp mind and can weasel her way out of many difficult situations. Her charm has never quite left her, and she is often able to give opponents a false sense of security when they underestimate her. She doesn’t operate on any basis of pride and is willing to pull almost any trick to get what she wants, as long as her people won’t think less of her.

In training her recruits, Lark tries to be strict and commanding during drills and kind and nurturing in the downtime. However, since she is extremely sensitive as aforementioned, she winds up leaning on the kind and gentle side. At first, the recruits take advantage of this, but after seeing how crestfallen she was when they failed their first assignment, they all silently agreed to NEVER make her that upset again.

* TRIVIA * ༉‧₊˚✧

Lark's swordmanship borrows from the many different places she's learned from: her hometown, where she learned rudimentary skills for self and farm defense; the sideshow, where there was a ket-mage that could fight with swords as well as juggle them; an old Inquisitor, secretly disgruntled with the Autarchy for one reason or another, who was willing to turn a blind eye and give a Diminished some pointers for her security job; and some other Diminished as she traveled with various caravans.

As she starts studying magic more efficiently, she eventually gains an affinity for wilds magic and can talk to some animals. (It helps that, during her time at the sideshow, there was a woman with wilds magic who worked as a "beast tamer" there and sort of became a motherly figure for Lark) She never gains the complete ability - not without it taking a great amount of effort and energy, at least - but if she forms a close bond with an animal, she can then communicate with it freely.

She has tamed crows so that they recognize her and bring her shiny things / gifts - first the normal way by feeding them, then additionally with her wilds magic. There's a whole murder of them that she can talk to now. Sometimes she can use them for surveillance as well, but only a few are good at that (for now).

On her own, Lark doesn't have a specifically good eye, but she has an uncanny talent for finding things. This isn't related to her magic at all - she's just good at it. That's how her crows know what to look out for and what's "suspicious" during surveillance, and people at the compound often look for her when they need to find something they misplaced.

Lark wound up having 100% heart of gold and 100% soldier stats on ACCIDENT when my original plan was for her to be a little manipulative but appearing innocent enough to get away with it. Silver tongue was her first stat to get to 100%, so now to reconcile these two ideas, I've simply decided that:

- She's unwittingly but incredibly persuasive - She has major guilt over everything and assumes she's manipulating people when she's actually just convincing them normally - Doesn't think twice about using her enchantments to get information but always feels really bad about it as soon as she's done - Is incredibly overdramatic and genuinely believed that she had walled off her heart and iced everyone out while simultaneously in the process of befriending literally everyone she first met at the Shepherds compound

Lark loves to lie. She doesn't do it maliciously but she likes doing that thing where she teasingly tries to pass lies off as true facts. She's also really good at lying for the sake of a mission - in fact, during the climactic battle of a mission, she almost turns into a different person, cold and calculating and knowing exactly where to hit with her sword - but it all falls apart the moment it's over or when the mission starts to fall apart. And she could never lie to her fwends 🥺

Her mood oscillates between two extremes of numb / anxious and affectionate / confident. Work in the Shepherds keeps her busy enough, and she’s (mostly) been able to keep her self esteem up and her moods more stable. Before joining, she was definitely more on the numb side of things, and when she loses the voices in her head after touching the luminary stone, she withdraws again.

Also related to losing the voices - Lark kind of accepted them at first because she didn’t care if it was a demon or not. She was sort of thinking “if it kills me, it kills me,” but in her most desperate moments she was glad to not be totally and utterly alone. Then she started to find it comforting before battles with the Faceless Lords, almost like a secret trusted advisor in her head…even if it was off-putting and, as far as she knew, a demon. Losing the voices felt like losing a friend. She was right on the brink of self-preserving and self-sacrificing before this, but once the voices are gone and there’s a gaping void in her thoughts, she starts dancing closer and closer to tendencies of martyrdom.

Her Hunter blood manifests a little more than she notices, and she always attributes it to natural causes. Somebody cold on an early winter’s day in Haven? She offers them her jacket - she runs warm, anyway. Somebody is lying to her? Well, she has a good gut instinct for that kind of thing - maybe she’s subconsciously picking up little gives?

-But then he heard a weird scratching noise coming from inside and something moving.

-Carefully he opened the door expecting something to jump at him.

-Boy thought he was about to be attacked by a human sized rat.

-Not far from the truth but you know.

-As he stepped inside he was met with a sight he wanted to bleach away.

-There was Mineta head buried in your underwear drawer his eyes rolling back as he sniffed.

-Kirishima might have died for a few seconds as he saw Mineta going through your underwear.

-He couldn’t understand how someone could be this nasty and perverted.

-He snapped out of it though and grabbed Mineta from his collar dragging him out your door and into the elevator, down to Aizawa’s office and dropping him on his teacher’s doorstep.

-Mineta was begging him not to snitch and stuff but my mans was having none of it.

-When Aizawa opened the door he was met with a really really angry Kirishima pointing at Mineta.

- “Can I beat him up without getting in trouble?”

- “What did he do?”

- “Something inappropriate to Y/N’s clothes”

-Baby had a blush on his face as he said that, too embarrassed to go into detail.

-Aizawa just looked at the grape and nodded, turning around and locking his door pretending that this agreement never happened.

-You had gone out searching for your boyfriend when you realized that he was gone for too long.

-You found him outside with Mineta, using the grape as a basketball.

-When he saw you, baby forced Mineta to apologize and dragged you to the mall for some new underwear.

-He wouldn’t tell you exactly why you needed new undies but it wasn’t hard to put two and two together.

-Okay this one pulled a +4 uno card on Mineta because he woke up to him going through your things.

-He was staying over that night, sneaking in from your balcony and having an impromptu sleep over.

-He sleeps better when he has you in his arms mainly because he knows that you’re safe and sound.

-So it’s almost routine.

-He woke up when he heard a weird whisper in his sleep.

-You would sleep talk from time to time saying all types of weird crap.

-He swore that it was the cutest sight in the world.

-But when he woke up you were just clinging to him, your face buried in the crook of his neck nuzzling into him even further as he pulled away slightly to look around.

-He thought he saw nothing at first but then he saw the silhouette near your door and he went into full protector mode.

-After placing you gently on the pillow, he pulled the covers over your shoulder and stepped onto the floor, sneaking his way to your wardrobe.

-Opening it up, green lightning already springing to life around his eyes he came face to face with...... Mineta.

but you decide to tease him more

fed up with the teasing, he grabs you and drags you up to his room to change into comfortable clothing

you sit on his bed while he rummages through his closet for a sweatshirt and sweatpants

‘here! change into these!’ he shouts, still flustered and refusing to look at your eyes

he gets even redder and scowls

the nickname used to not affect him that much but now, he watches the it fall from your cherry lips

you furrowed your eyebrows

he gently shakes his head no

it wasnt even been literally 15 minutes until you came bounding the stairs wearing hajime’s signature grey hoodie with his seijoh sweatpants and calling for your auntie to announce you were now dating are going to get married

‘WHAT!?’

she screams and comes running from the kitchen, holding a ladle

you flashed a grin while iwa shows a small smile with red cheeks from behind you before telling you that you were both too young to get married

‘i told ya you would be the first to know’

after dinner, you call your brother and hes like, ‘okay, since you’re not at home i’m assuming youre at iwa’s’

‘omgomgomg, nii-chan! i just had dinner with my boyfriend’s family! they accepted me!’

‘BOYFRIEND?! DOES IWA-CHAN KNOW!? HOW COULD YOU BREAK HIS HEART?!’

oikawa just has that special type of voice that even without being on speaker phone, it sounds like he is

iwa laughs at his friend’s worried questions

‘better hand over your princess to the prince, grand king’

oikawa screamed

S2 WISHFUL THINKING

hey hi hello! i haven’t really been active on tumblr but i wanted to get back into the swing of being active and posting often. so.

i decided i will take note of some of my predictions, hopes, wishes etc. for Season 2 of Rainbow High!

so i kinda wanna just cover the things we canonically have seen aka specific events and drama that has gotten introduced

- The New Roommates / Series 3 Girls

i feel like we will definitely see more of them within the coming episodes. rainbow high literally advertised the new teams as like… i think the second or third teaser for the new season

it’s interesting to me because. this makes me think of What The Runway Project is? what could it possibly be? i believe i made a post about this in the past but the main theory (and theory i believe the most in) would be a Stage Production of sorts. i mean… it makes sense!

the twins are both Performing Arts focus and are definitely the antags this season. so why wouldn’t they cause trouble in regard to a stage play? plus, bella is back. she’s literally a set designer! we have never seen her do any set designing (other than making a sketch) so it would be fun to see that! if river were to get more focus this season, he would definitely have an outlet to channel his Performing Arts creativity! plus… Daria is a song writer so like. imagine if we were to get music out of that? please. the possibilities are endless.

im also eager to see the series 3 girls dynamics. like are the rest of the girls (gabriella, georgia, emmy and daphne) all roomed together? do they get along? will they all be just as dramatic as stella, sheryl and daria’s dynamic?

but anyway. whatever the drama and the semester project is, the new teammates definitely seem to be playing a crucial role in this season.

- The Twins

i’m actually really eager to see more of them. i feel like not enough people are talking about them? season 2 is actually really interesting so far…. maybe more so than season 1… and i feel like we are going to have to thank the twins for that at some point lol

like. idek what they’re planning on doing but. i’m excited to see what it is! they’ll probably be involved in the semester project or at least causing problems to all of the roommates and teams. they’ll definitely have something going on with bella. and it seems that they have a good bond with karma (after the KWK we got). so maybe they’ll have input in any potential drama with Karma. which leads me to

- Karma VS. Violet

so. this drama has been teased at for like. ever. for what feels like forever.

this moment in Karma’s bio PLUS the commentary about violet from her and the twins in the recent KWK episode. but anyway. i’m actually super interested in whatever this drama could be??? like. why is karma watching.

we know violet adores karma, she really wants to have her in the vi life. so i’m sure she basically looks up to her! but like. will karma actually genuinely be nice with violet? keep a distance? make remarks like she did in her recent vlog? i don’t know. idk what to expect. of course it’ll have to do with vlogging or something.

- Bella

ok so there is a few things to note with bella. i’m still interested in if bella will accept to do an interview with Karma for her vlog? if so, i wonder how that would go. and i wonder how violet would feel about it. like the very last time bella was featured in vi’s vlog was on a bad note (even though they made up) but like. idk AAA

also i’m wondering how bella is gonna handle being back to rainbow high. because so far it seems she’s having trouble fitting in. will the key to her fitting in be Jade? will Jade help her figure everything out? or would it be someone else?

as much as i’d love Jade to be the reason Bella starts to feel more at home, i also love the other idea of Amaya being the reason bella feels comfortable again. Amaya was once the new girl (and of course in an awkward position because she was essentially a replacement for bella’s spot in the runway group) but. she didn’t fit in. she had to find her place at rainbow high… and it took her until the runway show to be able to truly feel comfortable.

and like. i’ve been rooting for bella/amaya dynamic for awhile now. i see a lot of potential in this duo. we know they somewhat have tension. i mean. bella had a really awkward confrontation with amaya and that was rly their first and last conversation. sure they’ve been around each other like in the music video, at the end of s1, and when bella walked into the girls dorm s2ep2 but like. that’s it.

SO ANYWAY. what i’m trying to get at is that these two definitely need to become friends. i mean. they have a LOT in common. i was talking about the new girl situation because i feel like they can relate in that way. they both had an awkward entrance into rainbow high and could bond over that. it took amaya awhile to feel at home at rainbow high… so maybe she could become friends with bella and help her feel at home! they’re both very determined leader types. they’re really passionate and! they have the same friend group! so why not become friends?

- Jade and Bella

of course i will wonder about these two! i have no clue what to expect with them. the fandom and myself are really really really wanting to see these two become a canon sapphic couple. i really want to see this happen! and mga knows this. mga knows we want to see jella happen. i mean, they literally snatched the ship name from us and plastered it into their vlogs. so they KNOW

anyway. these two are literally going through it rn. the way jade’s eyes lit up when she saw bella was back at rh. and now both of them are looking for each other and worried about each other. jade thinking bella is mad at her rn? please. i will sob. they are really holding off this jella reunion but i hope it’s for a good reason. i just want them to talk and have a good reunion… a hug……. happy tears, happy smiles…………..a love confession…

- Amaya

so i don’t really have much to say here but i’m just wondering about amaya this season. she’s definitely been advertised so much to the point that she essentially became like. THE main focus in season 1. this peeved some people but personally i loved amaya being like a sort of main character figure. she didn’t really take attention away from the other characters but also had that energy of being a main character anyway.

my point is, though, idk how she will play out in this season? like is she going to be as much of a main character as the main 6 are…. or will she play a bigger role? i have no clue. it seems bella is going to have a key focus this season, which makes sense, but it still just makes me wonder about amaya’s role this season

- Colin

i just hope this man does not get a development arc. i know some people want him to…. but i just. i don’t. i don’t understand. the point of him existing was to show that cheating is wrong and to display girl power. by teaching that skyler didn’t need a man to prove her worth. that she is her own person. her own strength! i really hope that colin and bella don’t have anything omfg.

- Winter Break

i’m really. REALLY excited for the winter break arc. it’s about time we get to see some backgrounds outside of rainbow high! plus the animated tidbits of ruby, sky, and violet in their wb outfits in the wb commercial was everything.

i’m so excited to see their new hairstyles, to see them with their snow gear and more. omg. of course i think the twins will be involved in this arc someone. krystal briefly mentioned the twins’ family having a ski lodge. and then of course we see sunny with her skis so like. yea!! i just wonder how these episodes would play out. or episode. but anyway like… will they just vibe? or will there be a problem of sorts? if it’s winter break then it probably won’t tie into school or like projects or anything like that

- Kia Hart

i’m actually hoping kia gets some focus this season. like. what is she going to do? is she going to pair another couple together? (if so, please be jella. okay wait seriously what if she is the key to reuniting jade and bella together… anyway) i just hope to see more of her and possibly more of her and krystal together haha. but kia just vibes so far, it would be lovely to get more of her!

- The A’s

so ainsley is finally beginning to get some attention! i really hope we continue to get more of her as well as avery, and aidan of course! we did get a bunch of content of aidan but you can never have enough honestly.

but i just wonder about how the A’s will be this season. like will they do anything significant? are bella and avery going to remain close? what is going on!!!

- The Malibu Line

so we literally know nothing about this except

but i still wonder like. if we will get to see anything about it at any point during the web series. perhaps it would be more of a summer thing. but it definitely means something if Bella is in it! (also i’m just generally excited for her new doll. omfg.)

- The Rock Line

so we also know almost nothing about this except

saw someone discuss that the music being heard during s2ep2 could be in regards to the rock battle. honestly. what if this is some sort of project? battle of bands or something? that would be cool lol. anyway i’m intrigued for this line mainly because of all the clothing leaks we have been getting omg.

- The Slumber Party Line

we have known about this for a little while (with the theory of the baby blue girl being in it) but i’m just curious as to who the characters are and if they will be in the web series at all.

- Jett Dawson

okay so. this is a big one. jett being a collector doll, i feel like she’ll definitely play a crucial role in the series. so like. who will she be to the main characters? it says she’s generally nice. why was she giving that look to the girls after their runway performance? IDK! i have no clue what to expect with her. i feel like the expectations i had for amaya (before we knew anything about her) will be put into jett because. the vibes i got from amaya ever since we just had her doll… i am also kind of getting from jett. so i’m eager!
