I enjoy a good "the Adeptus Mechanicus would be indifferent to gender because they're all about transcending the flesh" headcanon as much as the next nerd, but at times I think it would be more interesting – and also much funnier – if their whole Thou Shalt Not Fuck With The Standard Templates (Unless You're Part of the Secret Cool Kids Club) attitude extended to gender as well. Any novice can be a he/him or a she/her, but you need to reach a certain rank before it's considered appropriate to go by it/its. The existence of neopronouns as occult knowledge permitted only to the worthy.

I started playing Warhammer 40k Mechanicus, and I really want to like this game, but not being able to see and read enemies’ skills is really frustrating. The enemies just kind of do whatever they want so the only way to strategize is to fuck around, find out, and reload a save file, and even that only gets you so far. One enemy just teleports when you try to hit him sometimes, and I can’t for the life of me figure out when he chooses to and not to teleport. Be nice if I could read the ability instead of just getting fucked over over an hour into a large map because he hadn’t teleported in a long time so I assumed he was out of warps.

The structure of the game feels kind of flawed too. In most strategy games like this i’ve played you get to see the enemies and then choose your load out so you can go in relatively prepared. In this though, you choose your load out and then go into a dungeon. You have to go through this map and make choices in each room that has a prompt in it, so there is like 10-15 minutes of gameplay in between choosing your load out and actually seeing the enemies, so if you made a mistake you have to retread a lot of ground just to go back and grab a different kind of minion or swap out a gun. I understand it from a story perspective, but from a gameplay perspective it just kind of feels like the game expecting me to know whats coming before it happens, so it just ends up making me reload old saves and wastes my time.
