LOOKs LookS LoOkS
I impress even myself with my creativity, and this wasn't taught as much as learned. A lot of looks were inspired by new pieces I acquired recently.

Warby Parker High Prescription Sunglasses Experience
I have a high eye glasses prescription and I went to Warby Parker to see if they could make prescription sunglasses for me and if so, get an estimate for the cost. First of all they told me that their limit was like-15, (I can’t remember precisely so if you’re anywhere close to that you’ll want to go in person or call customer service to confirm. )
They also said that for sunglasses, even though my prescription would call for ultra high index (1.74), they could only use high index (1.67) and not ultra high index, which would obviously increase lens thickness. For my prescription, they said that only grey, green and brown lenses would work- not sure why! They also recommended that for my high prescription, I go for small and round glasses, and that I buy in store so that they can make sure to properly measure pupillary distance, etc.
Finally, cost wise-
High index lenses (1.67) -$50
(Ultra high index lenses (1.74) are $150 but not available for sunglasses)
Price of frame- cheapest was $95
Additional $100 to make the lenses sunglasses
Total: ~$250, with no insurance
Personally, I wasn’t really all that impressed with the pricing. I’m lucky enough that for me this is similar to what I would pay with insurance. But, if you’re like me and want an extra pair of glasses and your insurance only covers one, then it might be something to consider.
Additionally, eye exams were $85 without insurance
I’ve also done brief search of reviews for Warby Parker by people with high prescriptions, and they overwhelming don’t recommend it, although I haven’t tried it yet myself. One person had the interesting idea of buying the lens for cheap at WB and then getting the lens made and fitted at your optician. I might try that personally.
TLDR: for people with high prescriptions considering WB: First make sure that they can actually make your prescription. It might be worth it to go with WB if you don’t have insurance or you need an extra pair. If you do decide to go for it, make sure to go in person to get properly measured.

My dad sucks he works in import exports so sometimes he’ll be like yeah I’m meeting with the owners of Warby Parker and I’ll be like ok bring me back some free sunglasses then and he doesn’t. Like what are you even for. One time he brought me back a pair of Sandro pants that were like 3 sizes too small

I highly recommend Zenni and Warby Parker. My Zenni’s are my everyday glasses and everyone loves them (cute tortoiseshell). And I have my nice prescription sunglasses from Warby Parker.
You can usually submit the claims to insurance too to get money back :)
i’ll keep that in mind!! i splashed out on a pair of oliver peoples because i’m a dumb bitch who can’t stick to her budget 😩
my vision insurance covered a good chunk though and i’m gonna just stick with my collection of non prescription sunglasses because i’ve spent tooooo much money to start fresh lol

My eyesight is truly terrible. -12.5 with severe astigmatism, require prism, blah blah. My lenses alone cost hundreds of dollars and the thickness of the lenses limits which frames I can purchase. I should be in progressives soon which will just cost more money and Medicare/Medicaid doesn't pay for glasses.
Without my glasses, I can't see to read past my nose. My visual acuity is something like 20/1200, which means everything more than a couple of feet away is a big blurry shape. It's definitely disabiling.
I highly recommend looking into online options, even if you have an utterly shitastic prescription like mine. I couldn't get any through Pair, but Warby Parker was able to fill my prescription AND I got to try on 5 frames through the mail for free which was great. Even as one of more spendy online options, Warby Parker was cheaper for me with both frames and lenses, saving me a good $200+ overall compared to my last in-shop visit with an optometrist.
When you get your exam, don't forget to asking for the PD reading, the pupillary distance that measures the width between the center of your pupils! It will greatly help when ordering glasses online. If you don't have it, you can measure it yourself with a millimeter-showing ruler (US Americans) or search for "measure pupillary distance" and some apps and such will show up.
Here's a link to Warby Parker, which I used :
Made the mistake of bringing up that needing glasses is a disability on tiktok and people got real mad.
“You can fix it with glasses” yeah, cuz they’re a disability aid? But like, I still have to pay 160 bucks to use my own fucking eyes?
Like, by definition, if your eyes do not work without aid, you have a disability to see.
Having a disability doesn’t automatically put you in what people consider the “disabled” category, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is in fact, a disability.

I came less than $100 short of breaking to $2,000 today on a 4.5 hour shift.
My last sale of the day in my last hour was two pairs of optical progressives and a pair of progressive sunglasses. $1,130.
(And I made an older gentleman SO happy when I told him his lower standard prescription would bring his total to $95 and I felt like I was in a goddamn Warby Parker commercial telling him the thing things it included as default. But although was just $95 as he was leaving he asked me about cost of progressives for his wife so I made a meh sale but gave good service to bring in a bigger sale. I’m good at my job. It’s just a shame I get 23/25 hours per week $0.50 above minimum wage.) (also yesterday I made a $675 sale that didn’t count for shit (mine or the store numbers) because the customer had a code for four free pairs of glasses.)

earlier this month, and older man passed me on the subway and said "that's a lot of colors, you're a colorful woman" and I am - thank you for noticing.
today I went into a warby parker to fix my sunglasses and a person who looked very cool complimented my moomin keychain and i said "yeah what a guy!" then they noticed my seal earrings and complimented my style (aahhh!)
so i passed it back and said i liked their style - they had snake bites and a lot of other cool piercings, and I called my own basic. They go "you say basic but you're wearing seal earrings so"
it's nice to have some external force refuting my own self doubt.

Why Virtual Try-On Is Revolutionizing E-Commerce
In the fast-paced world of e-commerce, where convenience and efficiency reign supreme, one technology is proving to be a game changer: Virtual Try-On. From trying on sunglasses to visualizing furniture in your living room, virtual try-on technology has transformed the way we shop online, creating experiences that are interactive, immersive, and, most importantly, tailored to individual needs.
Here’s why virtual try-on is redefining the e-commerce landscape and why brands can’t afford to ignore it.
1. Bridging the Gap Between In-Store and Online Shopping
One of the biggest challenges of online shopping has always been the inability to see, touch, or try a product before purchasing. Virtual try-on bridges this gap by giving customers the ability to interact with products digitally. Whether it's testing out how a new lipstick shade looks on your face or seeing how sneakers fit, this technology mimics the in-store experience without requiring you to leave your home.
2. Boosting Customer Confidence
How often have you hesitated to click "Buy Now" because you weren’t sure if the product would work for you? Virtual try-on eliminates that uncertainty. Customers can see exactly how an item looks or fits, leading to more confident purchases. This confidence often translates into higher conversion rates and fewer abandoned carts.
3. Reducing Returns and Costs
Product returns are a major challenge for e-commerce businesses. With virtual try-on, customers are less likely to experience disappointment or mismatch issues. By helping customers make informed decisions, this technology reduces the likelihood of returns, saving businesses time and money.
4. Creating Personalized Experiences
Virtual try-on isn’t just functional; it’s personal. By using augmented reality (AR) or artificial intelligence (AI), brands can offer customized experiences. For example:
A beauty brand can suggest makeup shades that match a user’s skin tone.
A clothing retailer can display how a dress fits a specific body type.
These personalized touches not only enhance the shopping experience but also foster deeper connections between brands and customers.
5. Standing Out in a Crowded Market
E-commerce is competitive, and standing out is no easy task. Offering cutting-edge virtual try-on technology gives brands a distinct edge. It demonstrates innovation, builds brand credibility, and positions the business as a leader in its industry.
6. Engaging the Mobile-First Audience
With mobile shopping dominating the e-commerce space, virtual try-on is perfectly suited for smartphone users. Customers can use their device’s camera to try on products or visualize them in their space, making the process fun, engaging, and convenient.
Examples of Virtual Try-On in Action
Many leading brands are already leveraging virtual try-on technology to enhance their offerings:
Sephora allows users to try on makeup products virtually via their app.
Warby Parker lets customers see how glasses look on their face using AR.
IKEA enables shoppers to visualize furniture in their homes through its Place app.
These examples highlight how brands across industries are embracing this technology to transform customer experiences.
Conclusion: The Future of Shopping
Virtual try-on is more than just a trend—it’s the future of e-commerce. By combining convenience with interactivity, it addresses key pain points for both customers and businesses, making online shopping more intuitive and enjoyable.
