“She sliced like a knife through everything; at the same time was outside, looking on. She had a perpetual sense, as she watched the taxi cabs, of being out, out, far out at sea and alone; she always had the feeling that it was very, very dangerous to live even one day.”
— Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Dalloway (via in-red-weather)

bottoms is the movie of the summer not just because of the concept and the sense of humor but also because of the sheer level of unabashedly knowing its own audience and not being afraid to be specifically for them.
emma seligman has the range. bottoms was hilarious and outlandish and completely different from shiva baby. but even if it wasn't any of these things, she still knows what the fuck she wants to say and who she's saying it to. that's so refreshing in the midst of every blockbuster and studio being convinced they can only work if they thematically, aesthetically, and politically appeal to everyone. which is basically appealing to no one and saying fucking nothing

Kendall is right there. Logan gives him a supportive squeeze on the shoulder.
Their dad doesn't touch them much – the sight suddenly and inexplicably enrages Shiv. It shoots a hot bolt of resentment through her heart. Nothing shows though as she heads in.

connor is so interesting to me in the way hes both conscious of his family's distaste for him, of the way they see and treat him, and of the abuse that has occurred and yet at the same time he seems incredibly good at blocking it out. hes so sweet to his younger siblings. 'hi kenny', 'hi baby [shiv]', he asks 'you okay, romey?' when roman chokes while laughing at him, he says 'he didnt even like me' and fully retracts when he sees it affects his siblings. he does his own thing, he organizes fundraisers and while aware of his slim chance at winning, he runs for president more to say hes doing it than to become president. he behaves like a very bright child who knows hes not his parents's favorite but still wants a shot at it. it breaks my heart. i dont think anybody is all that perfect and good in succession but i believe connor always tries his best at being nice.
