I’m so excited that tomorrow is Monday and the subway will be back to normal

I wanted to go to the good wine store so I waited 12 minutes for the 4 only for it to be making local stops so I had to transfer to the J which I’d never taken before and signage was shit so I waited another aprox 12 minutes for that so I could then transfer to the A/C. I did all that with the goal of going to the good wine shop. While waiting for the C at 8:30 I discovered the store closed at 7. (I got out of work at 7:30)

I just finished a toaster oven burrito. If I had another I’d make another.

(If I even tried to eat another I’d be sick it’s just really good with a dot of TJ’s sriracha on each bite so my taste buds are like “gimme”)

My sister-in-law is away on a work trip for a few days. My brother just sent me a minute long slow motion video of him hitting my nephew’s bath water like drums and my nephew splashing back. It’s by no means unusual for my brother to do bath time but taking a slow motion video with mom at home wouldn’t have happened. They all always have fun in the bath but it would’ve been “what are you doing? Just give him a bath without dealing with that!”

Wowwww I was just almost physically assaulted. A man (who seemed to have issues) saw me and aggressively spun around into me. But missed but nearly not. Like there was the slightest touch/graze/wind

I did get up. But before I did I worded breakfast. The bagel place includes to stale to sell baked goods with orders so I had a dried out cinnamon roll after my bagel. Shouldn’t have. Too much food.

I have to pee so bad but Quimby is already outside my door making all his noises so when I get out of bed it’s for good. 6:10am

I hesitate to put up so much of The Scriptures but this is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. Coming up on two years. It’s so fucking important but I don’t think I’ve heard or read a anything about it.

The consent in Fleabag and Priest’s physical relationship is so extraordinary.

In the church he told her to kneel. As soon as he saw she did, he knelt too. He purposefully put them on even ground. He caressed her face so delicately while looking into her eyes clearly telegraphing what he wanted but was hesitant to do. Fleabag made the first move and it was “fucking beautiful.” When they pulled back they truly read each other before going back in. Together. Everyone focuses on “kneel” and the fact they kiss, and specifically that it’s in a church, but what comes after “kneel” and before it gets hot and heavy is either totally omitted or read as something almost domineering.

In her living room he said “We’re going to have sex, aren’t we?” although he knew it was something that had been on her mind since their night in his garden. He didn’t say it as a statement, he posed it as a question. They both nodded and then they both said yes. Priest, the person in the more vulnerable position, said an additional ok and then confirmed again after seeing the extent of her original plan for the night. Just like on the floor of the confessional Fleabag made the first move and gave him room to pull away. But he did the opposite.

One of the things I find so wonderful about their relationship is the evolution and natural progression. When we see them at the wedding they’ve established comfort with each other and comfort with their intimacy. All hesitation had melted away.

Phoebe so carefully put Fleabag in control. She was so purposeful in keeping it from being a priest taking advantage of a woman. She was so purposeful in not only making everything consentual but actively showing the consent. It’s odd to me that in a moment in time when consent has the most attention it’s ever had the consent in their relationship has been pushed aside.

It’s not just odd, it really bothers me that more is said about Priest ‘taking advantage of her’ than their consent. ‘She was vulnerable and he kissed her when she needed guidance he failed to do his his duty as a priest.’ Had he pushed religion on her, or even brought it up at all, that would’ve been taking advantage of her vulnerability. She doesn’t believe in god. His job means nothing to her in terms of power or status. He’s just a man whose job complicates things. He’s a man she opened up to and he didn’t run or think less of her. He saw a deeper part or her and was in turn vulnerable himself. “It’s nothing short of fucking beautiful.”

This ended up being a kind of continuation of my long thing about the omission of Priest’s “I love you too.” due to focusing on “it’ll pass”because these buzzy things cut out much of the heart of the season. Every bit of their relationship is reciprocally consentual and she doesn’t just love him, he loves her too.

I decided to take a little nap before getting ready for work. Just when I fell asleep my phone went off. My uncle called and we talked through what would’ve been good nap time. I love talking to him but a Saturday nap with Quimby?
