Horus Heresy: On one hand they had a full nine legions of the God-Emperor's Angels of Death. On the other hand, they only even came close to succeeding because of the Istvaan Dropsite Massacre and the Ruin Storm, neither of which would work on the others.
War of the Beast: The Krorks are basically unfallen Orks, the Orks that lived during the War in Heaven. They were from before the Immaterium became the Warp. They were also a complete failure to write a coordinated story, so who knows what they could actually accomplish. Other than the fact they combined a Super-Duper Warboss with a Super-Duper Wyrdboy. They could probably ignore warp storms.
Siege of Vraks: This was kept going by bureaucratic incompetence, which the Imperium has an abundance of.
War for Armageddon: Everyone was fighting everyone. It would only take an extremely small change to completely change how things unfolded.
Badab: Badab was defeated by the shear inevitability of plot. The only way the Imperium could defeat Badab was by... completely retconning everything about Badab. This could only be done by a villainous pact with the ruinous powers. The Tyrant's ultimate discipline was turned into buffoonish villainy.
Black Cruades: 14th time the charm.

just to be completely clear, the amount of military power and political influence Israel has has NOTHING to do with its settlers being Jewish. Israel is a force for American & European interests in the region and they're just doing what America does and allows/encourages its close allies to do.
war crimes aren't considered war crimes when someone America finds useful is doing them. european and american pushback against anyone criticizing Israeli apartheid & genocide is 100% because these crimes are useful to American & European hegemony.
Governments that are deeply antisemitic, like France, aren't suddenly caring about Jewish people. Jewish people, persecuted the world over, don't hold some kind of hegemonic power outside of Israel.
The state of Israel and its attendant brutal treatment of the locals are both incredibly useful to the US, and American hegemony means we're expected to celebrate both.
not bc they're Jewish. this isn't a break in the pattern of western antisemitism and it's not evidence that antisemitism doesn't exist.
it's just like how you could get fired for saying shit against the US war in Afghanistan when i was growing up. it is 100% about US military and political interests (ok slightly western europe too but lbr)

my most firmly held but pointless Star Trek Opinion is that the titles for ‘A Private Little War’ and ‘A Taste of Armageddon’ should’ve been switched because come on!
Just picture it, now the episodes would be about
‘A Private Little War’ - two planets are involved in a war they desperately want to keep the federation out of (private) but that they both insist isn’t that bad and is small scale compared to what could happen (little)
‘A Taste of Armageddon’ - a planet who experience death and war on a supremely destructive level (Armageddon) for the first time (a taste).
do you see my vision?!

staring to the heavens Crowley unaware is a war about to play out should he even care? for deep within his tattered soul a conflict within is all he's known ever since his angel left him stranded now he is at least double damned in all this vast universe Crowley's heart is more than cursed "to fall in love, oh my heart shall burst" so let these wars be done inside of me, detonate and set me free along with Armageddon

im not gonna put it in any fandom tags bc im not looking to harsh anyones vibes but like
kinda don't get why fandom is so super into giving aziraphale back the flaming sword and calling it HIS sword and having him do a lot of traditional combat badassery stuff... tbh
i like a little competent badass aziraphale as a treat i love unsettling eldritch vibe aziraphale putting people off etc etc yeah just. idk treating it like an endpoint of his development feels antithetical of the character that he is and how he chooses to be if that makes sense

“The Next (and Final) 24 Minutes”
Tumblr media
“At minute 72 of a confict that began at 3:03 p.m. EST, 1,000 Russian nuclear warheads begin striking America in a twenty-minute-long barrage of nuclear hellfire. One thousand nuclear warheads strike a nation already decimated by 192 Russian SLBM warheads and two North Korean thermonuclear bombs. North Korea's third and final ICBM-launched from the Hoejung-ni underground facility in Hwapyong County, North Korea failed upon reentry.
The barrage of 1,000 nuclear weapons strikes a nation already stripped of electricity and littered with the dead bodies of nuclear bomb blast victims, victims of radiation poisoning, of airplane, train, subway, and automobile crashes, of chemical explosions of floods from burst dams.
There are 1,000 flashes of light, superheating the air in each ground zero to 180 million degrees Fahrenheit.
1,000 fireballs, each one more than a mile in diameter.
1,000 steeply fronted blast waves.
1,000 walls of compressed air, accompanied by several-hundred-mile-per-hour winds pushing forward from the 1,000 fireballs, mowing down everything, and everyone, in the path.
1,000 American cities and towns, where all engineered structures in a five-, six-, or seven-mile radius change physical shapes, collapse, and burn.
1,000 cities and towns with molten asphalt streets.
1,000 cities and towns with survivors impaled to death by flying debris.
1,000 cities and towns filled with tens of millions of dead. With tens of millions of unfortunate survivors suffering fatal third-degree burns.
People naked, tattered, bleeding, and suffocating.
People who don't look—or act—like people anymore.
1,000 ground zeros transforming into 1,000 mega-fires, each soon to be burning over an area of 100 or more square miles.” (p. 276, 277)

Flower of Hell Backstory Summary:
Ten years ago, the world fell into ruin. An enemy that had gone unknown to mankind for centuries emerged from the shadows and, through both force and guile, brought human society to its knees.
Vampires. Undead creatures with otherworldly magical abilities that are much stronger and much faster than humans. Even with all their advancements in weapons and technology, they could not stop their advance.
Feebly, humanity struggled as this enemy bore down on them. Countries collapsed under the weight of a war that could not be won, reducing the survivors to a single unified militaristic state in the hopes that they could resist their inevitable destruction.
With each death, a new enemy was born. For those who were slain would rise again as vampires devoid of any memory of their past life and ravenous for the blood of their former allies. It seemed humanity faced its extinction…
Desperate to find a way to fight back, several groups of scientists began dipping into the occult. At first, nothing seemed to work, but commonly accepted logic wasn’t helping, so they kept pushing deeper and deeper. Then one day, one of their rituals actually worked. A summoning circle that with the right combination of symbols actually brought forth a denizen of Hell.
The creature’s power was evident simply from being in its presence, its glowing eyes bore into the souls of all who looked upon them. It simply had one thing to say before it vanished back through the circle: “finally.”
It wasn’t long after this that the flood gates were opened. Dozens of demonic entities began to be summoned, and while initially humanity planned to use them as soldiers to fight back, they quickly came up with a counter-offer: the souls of their soldiers in exchange for the power to fight back. An offer humanity found it had no choice but to accept. And while the abilities granted by the demons required training to put to use, humanity finally had hope. For now the vampires were not the only ones with magical abilities.
With the acquisition of these powers, the war became locked in a stalemate. The two sides war against each other furiously. Each losing and claiming territory like trading chess pieces.
Asuna was once a young human soldier, being tossed about in the chaos of this war. She had pledged her soul to a demon and fought for her home and family with all her heart… but now, she is a newly risen vampire. Despite her pledged soul, she was claimed by the Vampiric horde as the pet of an infamous vampire, the Lady Carmilla.
What this means, no one knows for sure, but although dead, Asuna’s journey has only just begun….

It took me a week to finish it because I had to take a two day break due to it was causing my stress levels to go up.
I am remembered in High School we had to watch the ABC mini-series "The Day After" which was about nuclear missiles being shot from Russia and the United States retaliating.

I re-watched it during the C-19 lockdowns in 2020,and thought why would our teacher have us watch this and we were in H.S.
