It has been ten years since they closed off the Upside Down and all of the Party are full adults. Steve gets to have his independence, he doesn't have half a dozen kids relying on him for rides to the arcade and/or survival.

So why does he feel pinned in place by Erica Sinclairs flat, implacable stare.

"I don't have to do this," Steve sputters. "Starcourt was a long time ago and anyway I promised you that ice cream under duress."

She doesn't say anything but her eyes narrow and her spine stiffens in a way Steve knows he can't fight.

"Come on," he begs. He hasn't worn a coordinating Halloween costume in years and he has no intention of starting now.

El's beseeching eyes and the devilish grin coming from Max on either side of the other girl only help to chip away at his resolve.

"Scoops Troop is forever, Steve," Erica said and she wasn't wrong, they had been through too much to deny it so he gave in.

"Fine. But I want to be Sporty Spice."

"Oh no," El said. "Robin is Sporty Spice. She said you would be Posh."

Two weeks later found Steve tottering into the Hideout in a black mini dress and four inch tall wedges.

"Cannot believe you get to be Sporty Spice," he hissed to Robin. "You are the least sporty person I have ever met in my life. And I know Henderson."

"Counterpoint," she muttered back. "You think I can walk in those shoes? I would die, Steven. Do you want me dead?"

"Oh, grow up," Erica said. "You two are ruining the whole effect."

"Easy for you to say," Steve said, gesturing to Erica's outfit.

Her green tank top and blousey satin pajama pants weren't much different fron Robin's outfit.

He turned to El. "You get it, right?"

El looked down at her outfit, a baby pink dress and chunky white sneakers. She looked at Steve, concerned. "I do not understand. I think I look very nice. You look nice too, Steve."

He shook his head as El and Erica took Robin's hands and hauled her further into the crowd.

"I'll wait for the others," he called out after them, a wave from Erica the only acknowledgement.

Steve felt a hand slap his skirt covered ass and startled, heels wobbling underneath him. He turned sharply to see Max grinning fiercely at him. "Looking good, Harrington."

Before Steve could return the compliment for her Ginger Spice costume and matching decorated arm crutches he heard a low whistle and saw Eddie Munson walking up behind the redhead.

"I'll say so," he said, his voice low and growling.

Steve could feel the heat rush in his cheeks and it deepened as he saw his boyfriend's gaze tracing the flush down to where it covered Steve's mostly bare chest.

Steve clears his throat roughly, pulling his focus away from Eddie and back onto Max. He ran his fingers over the new bleached blonde streak in her hair, laughing as she pulls away. "You couldn't come to me for this? What's the point of knowing a hairdresser if you don't let them do your hair?"

"Aw," Eddie said, pulling Steve's hand away from Max and threading their fingers together. "She can't help it if she wanted someone cool to bleach her hair."

"Cool," Steve repeated, laughing, using their joined grasp to pull Eddie along as they walked through the crowd. "If she wanted someone cool to do her hair then she definitely would have come to me."

Together the three of them made their way to the bar where the others were waiting.

Steve disengaged from Eddie and took the cocktail Robin offered. He watched as tequila shots were distributed to the other girls and winced, both because of their impending hangovers and also because it was weird to seem them drinking. They were still kids. They were his kids.

Eddie stepped closer, resting his chin on Steve's shoulder. "They're all grown up, aren't they? Where have the years gone?"

Steve tipped his head to the side and leaned against Eddie. "Landslide, right? Children get older, I'm getting older too."

Eddie hummed and leaned back, pressing a kiss to Steve's cheek. "My Stevie knows Stevie. You know, your music taste is my favorite thing about you."

Steve laughed at that, a sharp bark that set Eddie grinning, sharp teeth on display.

The laughter drew the girls attention back to them and Steve leaned into Eddie as Erica approached.

"It's time, Steve."

Steve looked to Eddie before turning back. "Its not... I never actually agreed to this."

"Scoops. Troop."

"Time for what, Stevie," Eddie asked, laughter in his voice.

Steve sighed before tossing back the rest of his drink. He handed his glass to his boyfriend before pressing a hard kiss to his mouth.

He dropped Eddie a wink before whispering, "You'll see," into his ear and steeping away as a heavy electronic beat started pumping over the sound system.

Steve found his spot standing behind Erica as she began to sing.

Basically what happened here is while I filmed the entirety of Wannabe because it was insane, green filmed just Lauren Lopez, he later said that he "couldn't look away"

being on his A game all the time for his teammates, for the public appearances, for his games was draining for your professional volleyballing boyfriend. every now and then, he'd come back to your shared home, hair drooping in his face because his hairgel lost against the events of the day.

evenings in the kitchen, where you're preparing dinner when bokuto comes home. he's almost always in good spirits, but on the days he isn't, you know exactly what to do.

you watch from the kitchen island as bo gives you a halfhearted wave before flopping onto the sofa. you smile - not that you can see it - because it's time to test if plan 341 to cheer bokuto up works.

"alexa," you whisper conspiratorially to the black cylinder, ensuring bokuto can't hear you from his spot on the couch. "play wannabe by the spice girls."

silence for a few beats, then laughter echoes from the speaker. the beginning of the song bursts into your eardrums and you begin shaking your hips in rhythm to the music. you watch as bokuto cracks one eye open, barely visible behind the back of the couch. you watch as he slowly lifts himself up on his arms, watching you with interest. "what are you doing?" he asks at last, his head tilted to the side.

"we're having a dance party," you respond as you make your way over to him, pulling him up off the couch. he seems reluctant at first, perhaps determined to stay drained and bummed. he ends up giving in, of course -- how can he say no to the spice girls combined with your dance moves?

you lead him back to the kitchen and laugh as you return your attention to the stove briefly to make sure dinner's not burning. your eyes follow bokuto's clunky movements, as he switches from walking like an egyptian to the sprinkler.

no words are shared between you, just giggles as wannabe fades and fireball by pitbull comes on next.

immediately, bokuto drops into a slight squat and starts shaking his ass. you break down into a fit of laughter at this point, sides hurting from your boyfriend's attempts at twerking.

after dancing together some more and finishing up dinner, you finally speak. "are you feeling better?"

he looks at you with nothing short of pure love and appreciation for you in his eyes. "yeah."

AX 2024 🎆

I saw lots of cool cosplays and got many compliments myself, but the highlights this year are definitely the panels.

I went to a panel hosted by Orange Studio where they talked about the next seasons for BEASTARS and Trigun Stampede (more on that in a sec). They also announced the anime adaptation of Leviathan, which I had never heard about before. I’ll definitely be looking out for that later!!

I also got to be at the panel presented by Crunchyrolll where they announced Trigun Stargaze! It was kinda funny how the crowd (me included) absolutely lost it when they revealed the new logo for Trigun’s last season 🔫⭐️

I was able to get Orange Studio’s Yoshihiro Watanabe, the producer in charge of Trigun and BEASTARS, to sign my badge (I didnt have anything else 😭)

And I was able to go to two panels with Witch Hat Atelier’s mangaka Kamome Shirahama. As much as I would love to share pictures of these panels, she requested no photography, so I don’t have any other pics 😢

The best part of these panels was viewing the PV in a room full of ppl just as excited and awed as me. GO CHECK OUT THE PV ITS GORGEOUS 🪄✨

I also attended a live drawing and Q&A panel for Dungeon Meshi. Everyone had great questions and it was interesting to see the drawing process!! 🥘

Also, I was able to buy amazing merch and get autographs from voice actors Griffin Burns (Tartaglia/Childe, Muichiro, Canute) and Robbie Daymond (Goro Akechi, Megumi Fushiguro, Shoya Ishida).

marsai martin as adina

marsai definitely has the look! like, this is who i pictured when joelle described adina physically and emotionally (her intelligence, sarcasm, general demeanor). my only concern is that since marsai doesn’t have many serious roles in her filmography, she may not be able to give the depth needed for a dramatic suspense show.

ashley liao as saint

no concerns about her acting skills or looks, it’s more so about salary since she was in a blockbuster (the ballad of songbirds and snakes).

sadie sink as penthesilea

same situation as ashley. has the look and acting chops, the salary/budget is the issue.

rachel zegler as esme (honorary mention: jenna ortega)

these divas! they both have the look, and are amazing actors. jenna’s a bit more suited for the role bc of how edgy she is, and it’d be nice to see her get rid of that wednesday addams/astrid deetz typecast. rachel is great but ive never seen her play a morally gray/pretty much villain type girl. however i’d imagine they’d be expensive.

cate blanchette as aunt remington

her salary would be like 1/4 of the budget

daniella perkins as toni

who i pictured as toni! after seeing her in grown-ish and older, i think she’d be great for comedic relief and the serious moments.

harry colett as graham

the targaryen prince! idk guys the curly hair and sunken eyes really do it for me. i definitely think he can play the drunken but kinda serious screw up.

gavin casalengo as pierce

very pretty “all american” boy is how i imagined pierce, so i think gavin is a decent choice. he was pretty good in the summer i turned pretty. also i think the gurls may enjoy him as the main love interest that could look good with adina and penthesilea.
