Kusakabe Atsuya A to Z

a/n: ovulating, rewatching season 2, and kinda fixating on maybe my favorite minor male character in jjk... idk i know there are more atsuya stans out here in hiding and i'm sad that there's more fic for like... idk... naoya... than him... like stand up yall, he's excellent, relatable, has a decent backstory, and i kinda wanna give him a kiss. anyway....

A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)

Atsuya's disposition often reads as removed, cold, or unenthusiastic but I like to think of this in two ways: it's a defense mechanism and his job (unfortunately tied to his entire life) is conducive to him acting this way.

All of that to say he's likely the exact opposite one-on-one. Especially when he's completely disarmed by the comfort of his partner— he's the type to cradle and cuddle you, shower you in little pecks, gently move strands of hair out the way to get a better view of your face, and bury his face into your neck to breathe more of you in... You might have to kick him off of you to grab a towel before he falls asleep though.

B = Body part (Their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)

Indecisive on this as well but he takes deep pleasure in seeing you take control. If he had to list his favorite three, it would be cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, and missionary at the very top.

I have a personal soft-spot for this so walk with me a bit... chest, arms, legs... perfect sprinkle of hair... enough to give a very mature (ugh... dilf-esque) compliment to the toned muscles underneath. A very charming, dark happy trail dusts his lower abs and leads to a nicely trimmed yet fuller tuft of hair above his dick.

I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…) 

Recurring theme here... he's a secret sweetheart. Day-to-day and outside of a dangerous situation, he's a particularly dedicated, caring, and thoughtful person. There's still a reserved quality to how romantic he is PDA-wise. Something about Atsuya makes me think that he's generally vanilla but would be really into subtle power-play. Not committed to the full dom/sub relationship or BDSM as a practice, but loves a little touch of friendly roughness. He blames it on getting older but, normally, twice in one go is maybe the best he can do. Definitely exceptions to this... say someone feels particularly giving, there's a special occasion (anniversaries, birthdays, coming back from an assignment, a nice date night), or maybe you two lucked out and have a whole weekend, unbusy and unbothered, together.

He seems like a very simple, no-frills guy. But if you have any favorites to bring to the table, that'd likely pique his interest.

Atsuya aims to please so his teasing (just light petting, groping, and sweet whispers) is typically relegated to foreplay. Beyond this, he likes to give you very simple, sometimes curt, directions to follow while he’s fucking you. He doesn’t fully restrict you (most of the time) or prevent you from chasing your high but he likes to put small roadblocks and rules to bargain on in your way:

Atsuya definitely has an oral fixation. He deeply misses smoking– especially a post-sex cigarette– but he doesn’t mind if you indulge. Actually, he really looks forward to seeing you have one. Over the years he’s wisened up to the fact that smoke deteriorates the body but he still finds something enticing about the act of sucking on death itself. Especially the way you do it (of course, he does want you to live a long, prosperous life…)

You always offer him a hit but he’s principled enough to look and not touch… he also keeps a few candies in a couple of different drawers around the house, so he’s covered. On the more current end of his oral fixation, he loves sharing lollipops with you. Even better when you steal a kiss with the candy caught between both your lips.

X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)

So I just read Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time and...it was ok

Had this come out when I was a kid and just watched Ultimate Enemy I would have gone absolutely feral over it

this show came out in 2004 so not quite sure how to feel about the updated technology IMO it would have been cool to have a time capsule of the show than the common floating timeline you see in comics

unlike with DC graphic novels you can tell the person that wrote this is actually a fan of the show and not a rando corporate pick the plot is plausible and the characters stay in character

A loyal tribute that brings in new lore and character growth

it also retcons the hated movie Phantom Planet

And it leaves enough to be curious for the sequel

People either seem to love it saying it's a good continuation the more serious take they wanted or hate it saying they're tired of villains being complex and redeemable and not pure evil anymore and the plot seems too much like tumblr fanfiction

Vlad finally grew as a person realizing it was his action and drive for power that drew everyone away and has making amends as his new purpose 

Dan just doesn’t want to be alone (makes sense the “no more painful human emotions” +Vlad’s anger and abandonment issues so he’s all the emotions and pain) 

Dan is destabilizing flashing back to his pre Dark child form because he’s a being outside his destroyed timeline  

Danny is the GOAT 

Clockwork needs to fix what he can of the time streams and Danny has two choices Post Disasteroid+no powers or Pre Disasteroid+powers  

Danny gives up being accepted so he can fix the realms “I’m Danny Phantom, proctor of humans and ghosts!” 

They are back to being invisible losers and Sam is just happy goths aren’t popular anymore 

The city doesn’t know how they avoided the Disasteroid but the Mayor declares ghosts are responsible for everything the city will now have a branch of ghost hunters and Danny Phantom is again public enemy #1 

Clockwork transfers Dan from Vlad into one of the empty clones he’s Vlad’s responsibility now he’ll be too busy to help again 

Clockwork’s powers are finite (so he isn’t omnipotent and all powerful) but he still feels something wrong in the stitches he feels weaker now 

And Valerie has a Time Medallion and is pissed (but there was a Valerie in the crowd at the Mayor’s speech so the two Valeries might meet up in the sequel)

1. How many works on AO3?

currently at 28, which is crazy because like 9 months ago that total was 5

2. Total AO3 word count?

172,924 which is, again, crazy to me (even tho i'm the one who wrote them all)

3. Top 5 fics by kudos?

-there's another day to come -i need the truth otherwise i'm gonna panic -we're gonna paint the road -wanna make this the start of something -there's one thing (it's the weight of our wish)

4. What fandoms do you write for?

currently only 911 tho i have had a devil's minion fic like 3/4 finished since july that may or may not ever see the light of day

5. Do you respond to comments?

yes, i try my best to as much as possible

6. Angstiest ending?

hard to say. i think all my s8 codas so far are kind of angsty because they're all ambiguous/open endings, so maybe could you trust love or what's left if i let you go

7. Fic with the happiest ending?

i think pretty much any of the getting together fics are happy endings, but probably for pay off alone it's there's another day or paint the road or maybe burning through the days

i do not, thankfully

i respect all the smut writers out there with all my heart but i will probably never be one of you

back in 2018 when Louis was a judge on one season of the X-Factor a friend and I started writing a Lilo TXF AU where one of them was a contestant and one was a judge but again, it never got very far

ooof very hard to say but probably e/R? in the years when i wasn't really actively in fandom at all those were the fics I always went back to read again and again and I'm sure one of theirs is at the top of my most re-read fics list

15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

paint the road originally had a completely different ending before I decided to have Chris call and ask to come back and put the getting together there, so there was an entire conversation I wrote between Buck and Eddie while stuck in traffic at the very end of the road trip and I really really loved a lot of what was in there and was really sad to have to cut it when it no longer worked. So at one point I was toying with reworking it into it's own fic but I never quite figured out a good way to do it and so I'm not sure it'll ever get anywhere, sadly.

there's also an Adam/Ronan raven cycle one I started years ago that I have thought about returning to recently but not sure if I ever will. I think there's some good stuff in there and maybe if I were less ambitious about it I could turn it into something but idk. I haven't dipped my toe in that fandom in quite a while now so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

16. Writing strengths?

I think one of the most frequent comments I get is that my dialogue feels very in character, which I love to hear because I love writing dialogue and really work hard to make it sound believable, so it's nice to know my work there is paying off and that people enjoy it

17. Writing weaknesses?

just generally physical actions. I think it's something a lot of people struggle with, but every time I'm writing action I'm Marshall HIMYM "what do i normally do with my hands"

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

if it feels natural and correct for the character then it's fine but like don't do it if you're not fluent or consulting someone who is, you know?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

obviously i deeply no longer fuck with the fandom or anything to do with the creator but it was HP back when i was in high school. there was this girl on the CoS forums who wrote these really long, epic saga fics, one was a marauders era and one was next gen era and I was SO obsessed with them and looked up to her so much even though she was like maybe 2 years older than me at most. so I attempted to write a marauders era fic and it was, i am sure, not good, and I only ever made it like two chapters in before abandoning it.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

there's another day to come will always always hold a special place in my heart. As evidenced in my other answers, there have been so many times in other fandoms where I've had big dreams of writing something long that I just never had the follow through for, so the fact that I saw that one through and stuck with it even when the writing was hard (and when i had bronchitis and couldn't write for like 2 weeks) is something I will always be immensely proud of.

Chapter Update!

Continuing the Saturday Evening trend for updating How Long Do You Wanna Be Loved, I present Chapter 7.

This is a MEGA chapter - roughly 2x as long as previous chapters. Why is it so long? Because I was informed that it was impolite to nonconsentually edge my readers by posting half a sex scene this week and the other half next week. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

As promised, this is the chapter where things between Buck and Eddie get 🌶️🌶️🌶️

First seven sentences:

Eddie doesn’t waste any time getting Buck alone after Athena leaves. He’s jittery and anxious as he and Buck stand across from each other in the same room, practically the same spot, where they first tried this. I love TTRPGs so much!! In my opinion, they are one of the best forms of storytelling! My favorite is KOllOK 1991 and it's whole connected series (I've been fixated on it for about 3 years now, it has genuinely become my favorite piece of media of all time, please please please go watch it if you haven't), but I also love other TTRPGs such as Eden Falls and it's sequel Paradise Lost! I want to one day GM a campaign similar to/inspired by these series, whether it be online or not.

ShU travels into territories noone dares to tread, and sometimes it's a cheap hitch in the back of a junkie's stolen van, and sometimes it's a first class experience in Bono's private jet; no inbetween. It's insanely creative, insanely unapologetic and honest, hits like an unexpected 2am urge to go scream from the rooftop of your house, and it's quite frankly unforgettable, both in its bad and good moments.

This bitch here is SO dear to me, i dont even know how to describe it. It's quite different from the manga, and i love the manga so much i think about it more than 3 seconds and i die, but the story feels more fluid in movie format. To me Doukyuusei is the best example of how you can tell the richest and most fascinating and intriguing story without ugly shock value or Angst TM or stupid twists; just life as it happens. The Manga's characterizations are so intricate and complex and distinct it blows your mind, not a single stereotype in sight. I really need Doukyuusei to be some kinda food so i can eat it for the rest of my life.

• Corvette Summer

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have no excuses. This is my trademark movie, the Farimah TM movie, i've claimed it and i bite anyone who gets close. It's so saccharine it rots half of your tooth halfway in and i love a good "take of life all you can; for the love of gods want something, anything, take what is yours and never apologise twice" story. I adore how flirty and sweet and soft this movie is. Plus, yeah, Mark Hamill and Annie Potts. The dream sandwich.

• Honorary mention: Blue Eye Samurai

Simply the most intelligent piece of media i have seen in the last 5 years, holy fucks. It works your brain on 99 different subtle levels to the point that it makes you glad to possess a brain and being able to comprehend stories. It's a challenging watch, intellectually, emotionally— solid makes you proud to understand it the way you'd be proud after finishing a 6k piece puzzle.

And as for books, i've mostly been indulging my fiction thirst with fanfic and flash fiction, and been mainly reading nonfiction in terms of published stuff, so, yeah, it's gonna get a bit technical. sorry.

There's something about flash fiction that forces people to get creative and by gods creative they get. The structure of this piece is so unconventional and sturdy it makes my brain sing 99 motown tunes. Speaking of story structure though,

• Jane Alison's "Meander, Spiral, Explode"

This is a book about story structure. I read it in pieces the way you read poetry and philosophy essays. Take of that what you will. Like, this is such meta read; you can analyse the book itself on its narrative flow and rhythm. I think i learnt more about Aristotle's idealogies reading this book than i learnt by reading Aristotle's essays. and this is the second "nonfiction that reads like poetry" book on this list. The first one is,

• Carlo Rovelli's "The Order Of Time"

Yep. Quantum physics is art to me by nature, but Rovelli really drives the art part home, and he's so sexy for it. This book is so lyrical and it plays with your heartstrings as much as it plays with your brain, i dont care about what category it falls under; this is top notch fiction to me.

• John Luckovich's "The Instinctual Drives And The Enneagram"

an older read i keep picking up every other half year, since i got into Luckovich's theories back in 2017, but yeah, this book is basically the foundation of majority of my worldviews, the spine of it. Luckovich is such thorough and unconventional thinker, getting into his stuff uprooted my brain in uncomfortable ways, and it's been an exhilarating journey.

• Honorary mention: Peter A. Levine's "Waking The Tiger"

Honestly? if i had to give someone one single book to read in their lifetime and nothing else, this would be it. I reference this book mentally in my everyday life so goddamn much i think it's etched into my DNA at this point, this book and Luckovich's theories on human instinct.

Hi chap, wanna ask something. When you're writing, do you also simultaneously reading about the characters you currently write to find an inspiration or not

Thank you for the question, and generally speaking? No. When shows and movies depict a person with a deadline and a tendency to procrastinate, looking for literally any excuse to be distracted, that's me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While drafting, I might fall into dawdling around in references. (This is a horrific time killer unto itself.) I'll sometimes revisit an episode, or double check the scripts to make sure I'm not misremembering details. If I have time between drafting and IRL obligations, I try to spend that with family/other hobbies, with exception of keeping a novel by the bedside to chip away at. (Right now it's Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh. Next will be Brandon Sanderson's The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England.)

Everything else? Added to a reading list for later. I sadly do tend to miss things in the moment they happen, but it keeps me from getting bogged down and encourages me to have a life outside of fandom related activities.

I hope this answers this? A bit of over explaining, but I guess that tracks. I feel like a lot of the inspiration ends up coming from the drafting, or the initial premise before I start, and sometimes if I'm stuck I might ask friends to work through the problem logically with me, but other than that, I just have to confine myself to the cloisters and pray I will someday be blessed with a finished product so I too can go dance with the devil alongside Goody Proctor.

honestly it’s been equally all over the place and nowhere!

i’ve gotten back into webtoons but at least every other week i forget to read updates - kind of a bingey gorl - but i’ve really been enjoying whale star (historical and a bit of romance), a martial master wakes up as a concubine (such a cute artstyle, such a silly/cute mc, probably going to end up being my fave of all time), the fox club, and most any villainess stories (even the crappy ones. bit of a guilty pleasure across the board, even outside webtoons).

i want to get into d&d! but i haven’t gotten to it yet cause it feels a little daunting.

as for music, i think i’d say it’s somewhere between folk, pop, and like… i guess stuff that just feels intimate, at least to me. like listening to an old friend slowly unravel? the lumineers, noah kahan, cage the elephant (this one’s not exactly new, but… it’s sticky! not my fault.), and then the random spattering of j-pop, j-rock, and the haikyuu osts on loop for about three days in a row most of the time.

speaking of haikyuu, i’ve been wanting to get back into it! and to pick up jujutsu kaisen again! but. like the d&d. a lot of thinking about it, a little less doing.

i’m also keeping up with single’s inferno, and, despite her mistakes, rooting for jinseok and minyoung! i think she’s relateable to some extent so i feel for her 😭. also watched the ‘celebrity’ kdrama a little while back and loooooooved it. watching king of the land now and still deciding how i feel about it. kind of wanna go back and watch my comfort kdrama (angel’s last mission: love) but i’m not sure when i’ll be able to. my want-to-do list is pretty long.

also, i love ballet! i have since last year. i really wanna go see the nutcracker before the holiday season’s up, but it’s a little too bougie for me for now. still love listening to swan lake and nutcracker recordings whenever though. i think ballet’s just beautiful. i always wish i could’ve grown up learning it. not sure i have the balance or instinct for it now. can’t even manage normal casual dancing so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

10. How do you decide what to write?

Excellent question xD I always sit down & blurb whatever ideas have been niggling at me, & the ones that I end up with bits of dialogue / fleshed out scenes for, or which have enough of a plot to sustain themselves make the cut.

I still end up with quite a few tho, lol, so lately I’ve been trying to prioritize them. Usually based on how long they’ve been in my wip folder &/or how close they are to be done &/or how emotionally attached I am to them.

There are currently 5 fics in the priority list—there were 6, but I finished one :D (posted here)

Honestly, I really wanna write something long xD I have a few started & a couple blurbed/plotted but for some reason longfic has just not been it for me lately? Most of my stuff ends up in the 1-3k range, I think. But I’m aiming to finish a couple longer one-shots soon!

That honestly depends on like… the amount of time & attention span I have xD Sometimes I want a 100k+ fic to sink my teeth in to, & sometimes a 5-12k fic is more my speed!

hi friends! :D y'all voted and fought neck and neck for this SO- heres the first entry into our little cooking journey of J. R. R. Tolkeins fictional food for his fictional little guys he puts in fictional turmoils for our enjoyment and awe!

 Before we get started i wanna say i owe my heart to all the LotR fans who upkeep the wiki, debate the cannon, and create their own versions of the foods mentioned. Both because of my love for people who LOVE (passionate people)(passion about anything) and because my own knowledge of this series is a little dusty. I've never seen the movies but I did read the books growing up. I'll be learning and remembering things from a fairly newbie standpoint, so no worries if you yourself arent familiar with the series! (and if you are familiar, hopefully youll forgive me!)

We will be making Lembas ('waybread') today! If you've made your own version of this please feel free to share it, similarly if you have any ideas for what we make next!

To the extent i understand this is kinda like hardtack from the bri'ish military, but a fantastical version of it that actually tastes really good. Hardtack was a military provision with the texture of a brick that took a long time to spoil and could be easily carried with soldiers. So the texture we're going for is super dense, packed full with nuts and fruits (haha just lik-), but perhaps not that dense. We want something closer to a dog biscuit than actual tack.

I remembered something about corn being mentioned, thankfully the wiki clarified that no actually the british just referred to any grain as corn back in the day. Thank Fuck! Although I would like to try a version of this using masa in the future.

Took a few tries but eventually got it perfectly chewy and dense

The raisins cook-in like little beads of flavortown sweetness

Cant speak for other fruits but for dried apple it softened up nicely, kinda matching the raisins in the end

Im a big pecan slut, pecans fuck on anything especially here. Crumble them on top after you coat the dough with the egg-mixture for some visual appeal

Somewhat flakey outside

The jam was my idea, it was nice but might be too sweet for some tastes

Would pair very well with a kiwi flavored drink

I can see why this would a travelling provision. Its both sugary (a good thing when expending energy) and filling (also a good thing when youre travelling) while not being overwhelming with flavor (if youre prone to motion sickness. Horse sickness? Do get motion sickness on horses?)

Its like how if you're going hiking you want a good mix of sugars and salts, to balance your intake of water.

If you don't have a cookie cutter, an apple cutter also works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . try to keep the board you'll roll the dough out onto chilled before you use it, it seems better for the texture of the food though i dont entirely know why

So from beginning to end, it took about an hour and half for the first attempt. Down to about 40 minutes for the second attempt. These are a real simple recipe because its not like a croissant where the margin for error is nonexistent. Middle-earth be damned my boy can work a grill.

I'd recommend storing in a tubberware container, but if you're deadset on using leaves please rinse and dry them first, and wrap the bread in either wax paper or saran wrap underneath. We dont have mallorn leaves in real life (as far as we know) but most salad greens should work, or as Marie Porter says (linked in the reblogs!) a banana leaf.

I really enjoyed the process of making this recipe, itd be really easy to batch-bake these en masse, and the process of eating said recipe. Like all jokes aside, i think this would be a great substitute for trailmix. Its not going to get smushed and even if it breaks a bit it wont affect the taste. It wont keep you fed for a whole day but pair it with some pickles or a salty snack and yeah itll keep your motor running.

I give this recipe a solid 10/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.) Let me know if you think I got something wrong, or if you ran into issues with the recipe. We're off to a strong start, lads!

Ingredients:

6 TBSP butter, chilled

2 cups self-rising flour

1 TBSP granulated sugar

½ cup raisins

½ other dried fruit (strawberry slices, oranges, etc.), chopped

Handful of almonds or pecans, chopped

1 egg, well beaten

½ cup whole milk

4 TBSP heavy cream

Method:

Preheat your oven to 400 f.

Cut the butter into slivers/small pieces. With your hands, combine the butter into the flour in a mixing bowl until the mixture resembles coarse sand.

Chop your dried nuts and dried fruit until it feels right.

Mix in the sugar, raisins, nut, and dried fruit of your choosing

In a seperate bowl, beat the egg until combined, and then mix in the milk until combined. Keep a bit of this mixture to brush the tops of the bread.

Stir while adding the egg/milk mixture and the heavy cream into the flour. Mix just until combined into a soft dough.

Knead the dough until firm on a floured surface.

Roll into a half inch thickness and cut with a square or leaf shaped cookie cutter. (...or in my case, an apple corer).

Place on a lightly greased baking sheet, with about an inch of space between each piece. Brush the tops of the lembas with some of the mixture you saved earlier.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until it turns a soft gold and the inside is chewy.
