The Ancient part 3

Hello everyone to my Wander over Yonder fan-fic.

Sylvia felt quite out of place. No, all the bodyguards felt out of place as the elders spoke of people, events and places from an era centuries past. None of the bodyguards were even born during that era.

Wander was having a lot of fun chatting with old friends of an era that was long forgotten. The zbornak couldn't help but realize how out of place he looked compared to the other elders. They looked as old as they were (and some even struggled to keep awake), yet Wander looked so young and was so energetic. No wonder she never figured out that he was so old.

After the meeting, they went to bed in the master bedroom (Wander's own bedroom from when he founded the place). The bedroom had a humble appearance with a touch of character. There were two beds, one that was small enough for Wander and another that was suppose to be for his traveling partner. There were little buttons on the wall next to the bed.

"Make yourself at home, Syl. If ya need anything, just press that little button." "Hey Wander, can I ask you something?" Sylvia pondered out loud as she sat down on the bed. "Sure, Syl." Wander nodded his head as he plopped himself onto his bed. "Is there any specific reason why you're traveling all across the galaxy and doing good deeds?" "Nope. I just enjoy traveling all across the universe to help folk. I also try and make some folks realize that they can be good instead, like Jeff."

"So, you're doing it simply 'cos you want to?" "Yep, it makes me feel good. I sometimes go to certain galaxies when I feel they need help. I somehow know by getting a bit of a tummy-ache, or headache. It goes away when the folks get helped." the star nomad shrugged his shoulders.

Sylvia took a deep breath as she braced herself for her next question. "Wander, why didn't you tell me how old you really were?" "Well…" "Did you think our friendship will change simply because you're older than me?" "Actually Syl, I thought you might freak out and leave me the moment you heard how old I really was. Compared to how traveling partners I had, very few stayed with me until they died of old age." Wander's eyes watered and his bottom lip quivered as he stared at Sylvia.

The zbornak got up to feet and embraced the star nomad into a tight hug. "Buddy, I won't leave you for that. There might be times when you frustrate me, but I won't leave you. Trust me." "Really, Syl?" Wander sobbed, tears pouring down his face. "That's right, Wandy. It would take a real miracle to separate us." "Thanks Syl."

After the chat, the traveling partners went to bed. Little do they know, there might be something that could separate them…

In "The Ball", Wander tries to convince Beeza and her people to face their problems, because "if you keep running, that's all you're ever gonna be doing!". He gets very stressed about this

Wander had to steal the Hat and tun away because that's the correct thing to do. There was a terrible civil war over using the hat.

Wander goes from galaxy to galaxy using different names.

Wander's fears take the shape of a creature with a huge grin and a hat. More than once.

This is how I see Wander x villain reader:

If y/n is evil, why friend shaped?

I love him so badly with anyone who hates his guts (at least at first)

Like he has that special little way of pissing somebody off or getting under somebodies skin that no one else can perfect. (Y/N) would go crazy being around him too long with no way to throttle him.

“I have never wanted to destroy anyone more in my life.”

And Wander’s just kicking his feet and giggling being like “Omg stopp…Go on.”

I strictly go against the notion that Wander is stupid. He isn’t, he knows what he’s doing, he knows you’re a bad person, he doesn’t care. He never lost that mischievous streak from the pilot, he is just more underhanded with it. Like, he was very much self aware in The Troll episode and was able to find out a villains weakness in less than a minute.

And he knows what your weakness is too. Affection. Lucky for you, he’s got a surplus.

He’ll get to that mushy goodness that is your heart, he just has to break down the hard exterior first.

Letting It Out (My Wander Over Yonder AU One Shot)

P.S. I originally considered to do Big City Greens fanfic 'Road to Healing' but I decided to write Wander Over Yonder AU fanfic 'Letting It Out' instead. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

P.S. #3 - In this AU, Wander is not an immortal and Star Nomads are not immortal either. He is 28 years old in this. When Wander was a child, he was a good-natured, friendly, helpful, outgoing, energetic and optimistic boy (Though he was at times, overly-optimistic and naive.) who lived with his parents and nana(grandmother) peacefully and happily, traveling with them along with his fellow Star Nomads across the galaxy and helping others with them. But at the age of 9, his life was broken when nearly all of Star Nomads including his nana and parents were killed by Lord Dominator, making him the last of his kind(He managed to escape, thanks to his family's sacrifice - After Wander's parents were killed, his nana managed to shoot and fatally injure Lord Dominator and with her dying last breath, Lord Dominator killed Wander's nana.). The trauma of those terrifying, depressing, horrible events made Wander guilt-ridden, grieving, somber and quiet, though he still remains kind-hearted, friendly, good-natured and helpful. He also has been fighting to survive, help, protect and take care of others including his best friend Sylvia(They met when Wander helped Sylvia with rescuing the little kids safely from their kidnappers when he was 19 and they've been traveling together as best friends to each other and taking care of each other since.). Wander tends to bottle up his emotions until he's ready to break. Also, Sylvia is more kinder, calmer, patient and mellow in this AU, though she still has a fiesty side.

Summary: Wander (Who is physically (But mended physically, though still covered in bruises and cuts) and emotionally hurt) finally lets his emotions out and Sylvia comforts him.

Wander was covered in some bandages because Sylvia had to take care of his wounds after a rough fight, though his face and body were still covered in bruises and cuts.

The next dawn, when Sylvia woke up from sleep, she quickly saw and noticed that Wander was sitting quietly with staring up at the starry night sky to try to distract himself from his trauma desperately. So Sylvia's deep violet-blue eyes were filled with compassionate empathy for him and she told him with a gentle tone, "Wander, I'm here if you wanna talk, but if you just want to keep stargazing and not talk about it, we can do that too."

Wander turned around to look at Sylvia with his brilliant azure eyes filled with tears. He managed to say with a silent but tearful, shaky tone. "W-When I was 9, my nana and parents died saving me from Lord Dominator when she killed almost all of my kind... Lord Dominator died too... I'm the last of my kind. I-I miss my kind including my family and... and... it's my fault that they're gone for good..."

"I understand that's difficult and I appreciate your openess, Wander. It's not your fault and your kind including your family wouldn't want you to be harsh on yourself. It's okay to let your emotions out. I'm here for you and you're not alone," said Sylvia with her voice full of empathy and compassion.

Finally, Wander let himself to break and he sobbed with tears dripping down his cheeks freely as Sylvia gently embraced him.

The End.

Have we ever discussed how "Watchdog" could just be the name of the army?

idk, this has definitely been brought up before, but like... it feels so possible?? (even tho I'm almost 100% certain it isn't) And i wanna talk abt it soo

Right off the bat, when you compare Watchdog to other species names from woy, it looks off. You have Zbornaks, Bingleblorps, Mooplexians, etc etc -- Watchdog doesn't rly fit with that, right? It's just an english word

And its not just any english word - its a word that details the 2 biggest qualities of the watchdogs as an army: their eyes and their loyalty/obedience. (At least that's what I'm assuming. I don't think its ever mentioned if their eyesight is rly good, but yeah.)

From my 2 min of research, i got that typically Watchdog is a term used for trained guard dogs (idk if that's common knowledge. maybe it is and I'm just sounding dumb here). So I can very easily imagine Peepers coming up with this name to elevate the species' credit as an evil army.

Like - they're not super smart, nor physically strong, buuuut they are easy to manage, you can order them around, they have good eyesight (which means good for guarding/reconnaissance), and are pretty loyal. So, Watchdogs.

(I imagine Peepers saying this^ last paragraph to Hater like a sales pitch.)

On a less positive side, the name also feels like it could be a little offensive. Like... you're calling them dogs. Dangerous dogs, but dogs nonetheless. Like they're pets, inferior to people in a way.

Whenever i get to this point, I always remember how genuinely mad Peepers sounds when Hater calls his "eyeball guys" dogs in The Axe. Peepers be like "f u, my people may be incompetent as shit, but they aren't pets."

(which does clash with the idea that peepers was the one to name them, cause like, what, did he just not realize the consequences of what he was calling his army? but hey, that's why this is a theory)

Also, word for word what Peepers answers Hater there is "They're not dogs either! They're-!" and then he's cut off :[

What are they, peepers?? What are all of you??? I WANT ANSWERS!!

Here's 10 recommendations from me, in no particular order

1] More Than A Sidekick, by Jason_Todds_Thigh_Holster (Henry Danger)

Oh, the classic "I have to pretend I don't care about you at all to save you, meanwhile I would give the whole word to you"-trope (totally official name). Mixed with the character in danger having relatively low self-worth and a usual "rough around the edges"-caretaker/mentor, it's just HMMMM (/pos)! I'm already a sucker for characters in hostage situations, so pairing these together is Such Good Soup. I personally didn't even keep up much with Henry Danger after my childhood, but the characters are already so nicely characterized within the fic itself, that you truly don't feel like you miss anything.

2] [injury] of a salesman, by becki (Deltarune)

It's only a one shot, but everything that happens is so well organized and shown that I keep forgetting. "basically just lots of spamton getting the love and care he needs" (author's tag) describes it well, and I am HERE for it. Especially the part where the two eat together tugs at my heartstrings, I love characters with some form of food-insecurity being allowed to eat freely. Swatch as a character is also such a delight.

3] URL not found, by Aster269 (@aster269) (Deltarune)

Quite a long one, this time; I read it while it was still going, and it was worth waiting for every update! The Addisons have very clearly established personalities and beliefs that are explained through their backstory. It's also very interesting to see every facet of their life, from childhood, to Big Shot Era to reunion. And personally, I can't get enough of the Addison Family unconditionally loving and supporting each other <3

4] The Wake-Up Call, by cookiescrumbles (Wander Over Yonder)

Wander. Has. Issues. And they are very well acknowledged here.

His personality really shines through here, both in the way he acts and talks. The entire concept is also very sweet; and I love Sylvia's and Wander's relationship. Shout out to the Hat, for getting Wander what he needs!

5] Tiny Reverberations, by Sylphidine_Gallimaufry (@sylphidine) (Deltarune)

SO! CUTE! Very short, but that just contributes to how fun of a read it is. It's pure fluff, and that mixed with Spam's reaction due to his low self-worth is balm for the soul <3 It's just so adorable; love the kitty <3

6] Mourning Dove, by LynnCanigula15 (@moonbeam-dragon) (Darkwing Duck)

I must say, I'm always a fan of people talking about the kinda messed-up stuff that happens in DW sometimes. And I think how the other three members of the F4 react to this - relatively complicated - situation is very much in character for who they are. Big fan of angst, and Bushroot's state of mind is especially interestingly described and established in chapter 2.

7] Back Alley Beatdown, by SwoodMaxProductions (@swoodthis) (Deltarune)

I love seeing Spamton fighting tooth and nail, knowing his own advantages. Sweet Cap'n Cakes are also very sweet and considered to the Spam Man here; making sure to reassure him when necessary. The description of the parts carefully placed beside him is a personal favourite of mine here! It also has a very nice conclusion.

8] Last of your Kind, by Vanyel (@boonbeenblade) (Cult of the Lamb)

It manages to say what it wants so clearly and concisely, seeing the length that it is. The use of language is truly phenomenal, and it shows a very cool outlook on the relationship between the Lamb and TOWW. Even though the fic depicts events that you literally play yourself, it manages to give an interesting outlook on them, making one able to experience them again as if from fresh eyes, from the perspective of the character. The second-person writing comes off as very natural.

9] Ever so slightly, by Pancakes_for_Dragons (Deltarune)

Sometimes I need a story that is just unapologetic angst. The fic gives Rouxls a very clear persona that reflects on his literal state as the "Rules Card" very well. How his relationship with Lancer grows is really sweet; and especially "I’m thoust Lesser father, surely that musteth count for something." and the whole event around it, still has a space in my mind, since the first time I read it!

10] breathe, breathe, by SteveSmackdown2014 (School for Vampires)

Again, just a very sweet story. It's very easy to see it both from Oskar's (with all the knowledge we have as viewers) and from Sunshine's (with a more 'normal', human outlook) perspective; and why they both react the way they do. Oskar's fear is shown as so very real, but the actual moment is just as sweet.

Wanted to mention this before my daily schedule gets hectic- but I love your The Third Season…Of Our Lives series! 

I can say it is the fic that resembles Hater and Wander’s lore the closest to canon that I’ve ever read, and that is so difficult considering we don’t actually have their backgrounds! Kudos to you! 

I just love knowing so much *stuff* can happen between Wander and Hater when theyre both alone together. It started with The Buddies- it took ONE day with Wander for Hater to have literally the gayest dream possible- and to have that happen once more in The Key- ugh there is so much to gush about! 

As of now I am in the middle of The Smooch, and I want to type up a proper review of what I have to say eventually- but please know I am enjoying this so much so far! 

If you needed any motivation to keep going, this is the sign!! ME!! I love your work!!! (ﾉ≧∀≦)ﾉ ━━━★

Getting it as close to canon as possible was definitely the goal! These two have so much chemistry and they can both make each other better people through trial and tribulation, so stay tuned! I hope you're ready for more romance, drama and a proper season three heavily inspired by the original creator's interviews!
