—- summary.
Everything in the castle carried heavy in your hands. The vast of amounts of furniture were a warehouse worth of dark woods—mahogany, clockhem, walnut—all of it adorned with metallic embellishments. It was a stark contrast to Navy-regulated material. You almost missed the cheap feel of the plastic backing of the off-white chairs in the coffee rooms.
( in which you accustom to the dracule mihawk’s quirks and the overall healthy change of pace in your life. )
— — —
The clouds clustered, and the humidity slipped through the cracks of the castle stone. The delicious touch of satin was cool against your skin as you combed through your wet curls. Dracule kept a steady, calloused hand stationed onto your thigh. His touch was languid, deep. Between sips of wine and the pages of his worn paperback, he drank in the sight of you. There were moments where his fingertips would drift higher, brush close. He knew the rules for wash days, and remained patient, prowling until the boundaries lifted.
“Braids tonight?” he asked.
“It’s late,” you said. “Besides, I’m not set to sail out any time soon.”
The conditioner was slick from the warmth of your hands and the humidity. You combed through until you heard the softest snap. You lifted the pick and noticed a new tooth gone, the plastic stub jagged like the adjacent spaces.
“Don’t move,”—Dracule’s touch was slight—“you’ve the piece in your hair.”
The shard of plastic was small, its red coating faded. Insistent on finishing, you continued to use the remaining two teeth. Dracule rose from the bed, the familiar warmth of his hand leaving your skin. His silk pants, as thin as your set, swayed with his movements and hung loose on his hips. His sinewy back, bare for the evening, was pale, littered with scars.
Before you could untangle the loose strands of hair that stuck and curled to your comb, your Warlord slipped something heavy into your palm as he returned. The bristles were wide, spaced. The touch of it was so cold, and the finish so dark, you were certain that it were some sort of antiquated metal.
“It’s batoja wood,” he said. “It’s been here since I’ve lived in this castle.”
The bed dipped as he settled back into bed. His hand, once again, made a nesting spot between the warmth of your thighs.
“Batoja wood? A Frunean export?” you asked.
He gave a low hum then reached for his book. You turned the comb in your hands. It was clean, oiled, with no traces of dust or debris, or stray hairs from a former owner. There were a few scratches, signs of wear, yet it shone in the light and had the faintest scent of bergamot.
Wash day finished as it always did, with a bonnet secure around your hair and Dracule deepening his touch. The moment you chose to set aside your gift was the moment he rolled his body over yours. He, all angles and sharpness, fitted against you perfectly. His lips trailed to your neck, the scruff of his beard scratching against your skin. You breathed deep. His scent was heavy and rich like autumn spiced oranges. You threaded your fingers through his cropped hair and tugged until he stared down at you, his eyes glowering amber in the dim hue of light.
“My lovely Hawk Eyes,” you cooed, words thick against your tongue, “how ever should I thank my darling consort tonight?”

I have some more dessert headcanons 🍰 I doubt I can explain but it's just a feeling I have. Daniil would like Turkish Delight. Lara and Artemy both like fruit pies, best is blueberry for Lara and rhubarb (it's a vegetable but whatever) for Artemy (oh god I'm stereotyping based on colors again). Candy corn for Clara. Candy corn is divisive but I actually like it. I think Grief would like candy in general, maybe those little chocolates with liquor inside, and cinnamon flavored things. Big Vlad - mincemeat pie. Rubin - bread. Just bread. Red velvet cake for Katerina, meringues for Eva. For Aspity, those dirt pies made out of oreo crumbs, pudding, and gummy worms lol. I think Grace, Notkin, Sticky, and Murky would like those too :o)
There's probably some obscure dialogue that contradicts something there but oh well~
What do you think of Victor's animal being a tiger? I keep thinking Basset Hound and yes that's almost entirely because they both have a high likelihood of being found sitting on the floor by the clock. He's some kind of scent hound to me - more calm and deliberate than sighthounds, and once they have their mind set on something, focusing on it to the extent that it's nearly impossible to pull them away. But at the same time, I can sort of see the cat thing.
🐿️ anon
Your brain is big and wrinkly all of those fit perfectly omfg. "Rubin = bread" I LOVE IT.
Here's what I think their preference in sweets would be in addition to yours.
Eva
Turkish delight, Honey soaked rose baklava, kanafeh with sweer syrups. The intensely sweet desserts are her favourite, think heavy caramel chocolate cakes. She'd sample a lot of desserts from different cultures but those would be her comfort ones.
Victor Kain
The dishes he eats are an acquired taste that wouldn't appeal to most people. Think blue cheese and something along those lines. think bitter chocolate, coffee, and pistachio flavours. Traditional creme burlee and dark chocolate mousse.
I like to think that Khan abhors these flavours and desserts out of rebellion and only demands the most sprinkle filled bubblegum bonbon cupcakes for his birthday.
Maria, however, goes for flavour-rich desserts that explode in the mouth, something with a heavy taste and an aftermath of wine.
Yulia
Cheesecake, lemon tarts. Subtle sweetness with the spin of something different sate her appetit the most. French Vanilla chiffon cake for special occasions, a blueberry muffin with her morning light cream cappuccino.
Rubin
He's absolutely not a dessert person, so when the craving strikes, he would rather go for a baked good. Almond bread, rosemary-walnut brow butter cookies and biscuits, English muffins too.
Taya
Fairy bread cookies, strawberry shortcake, and orange puddings. Fruit based desserts with cream are her favourite. Peach pie and cherry jello. Sadly, most of these would only be found in the Capital, and exporting them into the town wouldn't come easily. The kin might adjust their recipies to accommodate her sweet tooth and include more fresh fruits.
--
For Victor's animal, I was surprised to learn it's the same one as Rubin! They both have tiger in their descriptions. Especially when Khan's animal is an adorable hedgehog. Oh my god, so cute. But it fits. He really does go hide in that spiky polyhedron whenever life gets too troubling. He also has the Kains and Capella ready to protect him.
It's because of Victor's animal being a tiger that I add the "predatory" lines in the story. The sharp claws hidden in his clapsed hands.
He's a tiger in the aspect of the danger rather than the ferality. His mind is as sharp as a tiger's tooth and his focus and patience when hunting a prey or a goal is unmatched. You never expect him or hear him, how he'll as stealthy as a tiger when it comes to mind games.
For Rubin, however, I do see the symbolism centring on the ferality instead. He's like a caged tiger, one with filed down claws and broken teeth. He used to be so sharp and had so much potential. He's truly a force to be reckon with, but the cruelty of life stole away his prime. He's overcome with grief and appears as a docile, tired predetor because of it, like a circus tiger not caring anymore and just jumping through the fire hoops of whoever orders him to. Which is why he is so quick to join the army, he needs a purpose, a mentor, an end goal, a firey ring to make him feel useful because nothing is more terrifying to an imprisoned animal than absolute freedom.

World Coconut Day
Discover the tropical taste and versatility of this round, hairy fruit with a hard shell. From coconut water to oil, there's so much to love about them!
A popular fruit consumed around the world, the coconut is healthy and tasty, and it grows in tropical regions. World Coconut Day celebrates everything that has to do with this delicious and nutritious fruit!
History of World Coconut Day
Coconuts are a food that humans have found sustenance in for at least 2,000 years. Probably native to Indonesia, the name coconut translates to “walnut from India”. While coconuts would have traveled throughout the Indian subcontinent and even to Africa in the early years, they didn’t make it to Europe until some time around the 16th century.
It is likely that coconuts were introduced to Europeans through the Maritime Silk Road, which connected the East with the West. Marco Polo may have been one of the many travelers and explorers who would have brought coconuts back with them.
When the Asia Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) was founded in 1969, it was created in an attempt to help support and promote the tropical countries that are high in growing, producing, selling and exporting coconuts. Located in Jakarta, Indonesia, this group stays connected with the production and export of coconuts. Sharing scientific expertise and coordinating activities within the industry, the members of the APCC are responsible for the growth of more than 90% of the coconuts produced and sold all over the globe.
Founded in 2009, World Coconut Day was started by the Asia and Pacific Coconut Community to promote the activities of coconut growers while raising awareness about the fruit for those outside of the growing community.
The celebration of World Coconut Day offers plenty of opportunities for this important product of the Asia-Pacific region to enter into the forefront of conversation of people around the world!
World Coconut Day Timeline
1st Century BC
Coconuts are present in Indian subcontinent
Historical records from Sri Lanka show that coconuts existed before this time.
16th Century
Coconuts are introduced to Europe
Arriving as many exotic foods did, through the Maritime Silk Road, Europeans were exposed to coconuts through traders like Marco Polo.
1946
Almond Joy candy bar hits the scene
This candy bar combines the sweetness of shredded coconut with an almond and then covers it in delicious milk chocolate.
2004
Vita Coco introduces coconut water
Offering a delicious and nutritious beverage, Vita Coco begins a trend of bottling coconut water and making it commercially available.
2009
World Coconut Day is first celebrated
Started by the Asia-Pacific Coconut Community, World Coconut Day aims to raise awareness and bring harmony to the growth and distribution of coconuts.
How to Celebrate World Coconut Day
Getting involved with World Coconut Day is easy – all it takes is tasting and enjoying this delicious fruit. Consider some of these ideas to celebrate the day:
Enjoy Eating a Coconut
Some people who haven’t grown up around this delicious fruit might be intimidated by its brown, hairy shell. But once it is broken into and the creamy white flesh is exposed, it is a fragrant delight to behold.
First, start by poking a hole in the coconut at the end near the ‘eye’, where the shell is the thinnest. Use a screwdriver or hammer with a clean nail to make the hole. This will allow for the water of the coconut to be drained.
Pro Tip: Strain the coconut water through a cheesecloth and into a cup, and then drink it up!
Once the juice has been drained out of the coconut, one of the easiest ways to break open the fruit is by using a handsaw to cut it in half. Other people might want to simply put it into a sturdy bag and bang it against a stone or concrete until it breaks. This method is a bit messy, but it works.
Once the coconut is open, remove the meat from the shell and enjoy eating it fresh!
Cook or Bake with Coconut
One way to enjoy National Coconut Day without having to go to the trouble of cracking open the fruit is by purchasing the coconut in bags that are shredded or chipped. These are often pre-sweetened and ready to be used in recipes. Since the fruit is a tropical one, and the day falls at the end of the summer, many recipes are cool and refreshing.
Consider cooking or baking with some of these recipe ideas to celebrate the day:
Coconut Cream Pie. This classic pie contains coconut flakes or chips, coconut milk, heavy cream and eggs, and is topped with mounds of sweet whipped cream.
Coconut Ice Cream. This refreshing dessert is so simple, all it needs is 6 ingredients: whipping cream, sugar, vanilla, milk, salt and, of course, shredded coconut.
Coconut Milk Pudding. This delicious recipe is similar to the consistency of flan, but is made with coconut milk, gelatin, mango, butter, grated coconut, condensed milk and other simple ingredients.
Coconut Rice Pudding. A special blend of coconut milk and rice, this dessert is delicious when served with a homemade rhubarb compote or jam. The coconut and rhubarb flavors just meld together on the tongue!
Drink a Piña Colada
A classic tropical drink, the piña colada contains delicious ingredients like pineapple juice, coconut cream, rum, lime juice and ice, all blended together into a delicious frozen beverage. Throw the ingredients in a blender at home and mix it up. Garnish with a drink umbrella and skewer with red cherries for a vibrant presentation.
Try Out Some Coconut Water
A fairly new product on the market, bottled coconut water can be found in many places around the world now. Coconut water is actually the juice or liquid that comes from young coconut plants. Some brands of coconut water that might be worth trying out in celebration of National Coconut Day include Vita Coco, ZICO, Naked Coconut Water, and C2O.
Listen to Some Coconut Themed Music
One fun way to enjoy National Coconut Day is to enjoy a few songs that were written around the theme of coconuts. Try out some of these ideas to get started making a tropical playlist just for this day:
Coconut by Harry Nillson (1971). Probably the most famous song about coconuts, the lyrics are “put de lime in de coconut and drink ‘em both togedder”.
Cocoanut Woman by Harry Belafonte (1957). Released on his album called “Belafante sings of the Caribbean”, this song is about a lady on the island who is selling coconut water.
Coconut Telegraph by Jimmy Buffet (1981). Appearing as the title song on the album of the same name, this song speaks of a Tuesday on the island when information and gossip is exchanged.
I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts by Merv Griffin (1950). With lyrics that make a story out of a coconut toss at a fair, this song is a silly and playful classic from a bygone era.

My favorite Christmas movies
Tokyo Godfathers (trailer)
As many other Satoshi Kon stuff, a somewhat dark sense of humor might come to use here. Even so, it's still oddly heart-warming, too. Five hearts. 💜💜💜💜💜 (Satoshi Kon, just for the record, is my favorite anime director. RIP.)
Rare Exports (trailer)
Uh. How to explain this one, if you don't know it? Well, let's start with saying it's a horror movie. You might not want to be on the naughty list of this Santa… It's been ages since I saw it last time. I've been thinking I should rewatch it this year, but haven't yet had time. I do remember there are some parts that might require polishing, but overall, with my cracked sense of humor, I love it. It's a Finnish movie, btw. Five… somethings. 💀💀🎅🦌💀
Three Wishes for Cinderella (this one is on youtube, the whole movie) (might be blocked in some countries...)
Ok, so this isn't a Christmas movie, but… I saw it first during Christmas time one year, and there's winter and snow, so. I kinda associate it with Christmas. My favorite version of Cinderella. (It's a bit of a crossover, should I say, with another fairytale, I don't remember what it's called… the one where someone gets three magical walnuts.) Five magic stars. ✨✨✨✨✨ (And just for the record, I'm talking about the Czech movie from 1973. There's apparently a Norwegian version from 2021, I've never seen that one, so no comment about it.)

How is food produced and distributed in you world?
Hiiii, love! Tysm for the asking <3 I've been trying to answer this question for days because I had never thought about this part of managing the country hahahahahahaha. But let's try.
Kildenria is a very small country that depends a lot on the import market, since the climate does not allow agriculture to be as exuberant as in the more localized territories to the south. However, they do have a local product that accounts for a large part of their export earnings. This is it: walnuts.
Likewise, they are capable of cultivating and maintaining extensive livestock farming that is more or less fruitful, and, being a small country, they do not suffer from shortages if foreign markets fluctuate and do not allow them to import food. Like any small country, they have had to learn to make a living.
