SAVE A HORSE ; WALLY CLARK
a/n; inspired by this post by @stevensrealgf !
warnings; 18+, mndi, afab!reader, fem!pronouns, established relationship, smut under the cut, unprotected sex i don’t know how many times i have to tell you guys not to do this, fingering, filthy talk, wally clark talks you through it. not proofread !
you sat beside charley on the edge of the stage, watching as rhonda sat on wally’s back as he did pushups. charley had made a quiet joke to you about wally showing off to ‘impress a certain someone’.
your relationship with wally was unknown to the others, both you and wally agreeing that you’d like to keep it to yourselves for as long as possible to prolong the peace you both found in one another.
however, wally wasn’t as good at hiding the fact he had a crush on you.
you’d stopped paying attention by the time wally had risen to his feet, lazily returning your gaze to him after a sarcastic comment he made to rhonda.
“who’s next?” he asked with a boyish grin, attention focused on you and charley now “charley? wanna ride the pony?”
you choke on your laugh, doubled over with a hand clamped over your mouth to dampen your laughter.
“what’s funny, princess?” wally questions with a quirked brow, hands resting on his hips as he looks at you expecting an answer “you think i couldn’t lift him?”
the mischievous look on his face proves to you that he knows exactly why you’re laughing, but he’s not giving you the satisfaction of seeing him all red faced and flustered.
“oh, i’m sure you can” you respond sarcastically, hopping off the stage and patting his shoulder as you pass by “you boys have fun!”
there’s no masked intent in your words, if wally wanted to try lift charley then more power to him, but you were getting bored of the gym.
not long after you’d settled down in the student lounge wally joins you, presumably only taking so long because he wasn’t sure where you went. without a word he joins you on the couch, relaxing back into his seat as you kick your feet up into his lap with a teasing “have fun?”
“awh, is my little princess all jealous i didn’t ask her instead?” wally cooes patronisingly, palm running back and forth against your thigh “you wanna ride the pony, baby?”
your bottom lip is trapped between your teeth, unsure if you wanted to laugh him off or indulge his antics. naturally, you choose the latter.
as you slide onto wally’s lap his hands instantly find your waist, gently pulling you closer as you place one leg on either side of his body.
“that’s it, baby” he grins, a hand coming up to grip your chin “there’s my pretty girl” he mumbles, guiding your mouth to his in order to press a soft kiss to your lips.
the tender moment is short lived, movements becoming more frantic as you both work on the others clothes, your hips involuntarily grinding against wally’s the moment his mouth meets your neck.
“fuck, baby” wally groans against your neck, fingers digging into your hips to guide your movements “so needy already?”
you roll your eyes at his cockiness, even if you are gasping out his name when his clothed erection brushes against your covered clit. your hands fumble as you attempt to remove the little clothing left in your way until you’re both in your underwear.
“shit, you really are needy huh?” wally chuckles, his fingers gathering your wetness as his hand slips into your panties “my perfect girl, always so desperate for my cock.”
he plunges two fingers into you without warning, moving at a pace that has your head falling back and your moans echoing through the empty room.
“o-oh, god.” you whine, feeling the band in your stomach tightening at an alarming rate when his thumb presses against your clit, his fingers still fucking into you.
the moment he feels you tighten around his digits he withdraws his hand, pushing his soaked fingers into his mouth before answering you cries of frustration.
“hey, hey! said you were gonna ride me, remember?” his soft voice is a stark contrast to the look on his face “can’t have you cumming on my hand now, pretty baby”
he helps you position yourself, hissing out a curse when your hand wraps around him to make sure he was in place, and when you finally sink down onto him it takes every ounce of willpower he has to not flip the two of you so he’s on top.
you waste no time in making good on your word, starting to move back and forth on him slowly before gradually settling into a rhythm.
“doing such a good job, princess.” wally groans, gripping you even tighter as you bounce on his cock “taking me so well, fuck baby, look so pretty riding me”
“so close, wally” you warn through a moan, nails digging into his skin as you grip his shoulders.
wally let’s out a grunt of acknowledgment, any self control he had left vanishing when you start clenching around him, prompting him to start fucking up into you at a harder pace.
“me too, baby.” he murmurs, mouth latching onto your clavicle to mark the skin “you feel so good, princess, gonna make me cum in your pretty little pussy. you want that, pretty girl? you want me to come in you?”
your eyes roll back as he talks, mouth falling open and shut with nothing but a string of lewd noises as opposed to coherent sentences.
“please, wally.”
your mewled permission was all wally needed, his thumb rubbing harsh, fast circles into your clit as he continued to buck up into you, his pace getting sloppy as you feel him swelling inside you.
“that’s it, princess, there you go” he grits through his teeth, not stopping until you get over the edge too “so fucking pretty when you make a mess on my cock, my gorgeous girl.”
you’re a mess by the time you’ve both halted your movements, wally is still buried inside you as you fall forward against his chest making you quietly moan at the sensation.
“you did such a good job, baby.” wally cooes, placing a kiss to the top of your head “gonna have to get you to ride me more often.”

I have this hc that Bruce, although the genius and all, is not very good with names. He knows too many people and doesn't care that much. And when he starts giving the wrong name to someone ; either it's a temporary glitch in his brain, or that's their officially new one in his compartmentalized mind.
Bruce : I can't get a hold of Flash. I need him urgently. Have you seen Marty recently ?
Dick : Wally. And no, I haven't.
--
Bruce, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder : I promise you, everything's going to be fine, Sylvia. You just need to follow the plan.
Stephanie : I know, I'm ready to-- Wait, who ?
--
Bruce : That's enough, Bill ! The threat is on us right now and if you don't get this done--
Oliver : Oliver, Bruce. O-LI-VER. We've literally known each other for decades, you little shit !
--
Batman : This isn't funny, Amir. In the League, we won't tolerate this kind of--
Booster : Oh... Uhm, actually it's Michael.
Batman : I wasn't finished. So, now, you go ahead and reflect. I don't want you around here for today. We need the team sharp and focused. Lives are at stake. Can you understand that, Amir ?
Booster : I--
--
Bruce, getting back in the cave, taking his cowl off : I saw Ronny out there. He asked why you weren't answering his texts.
Jason: Ronny... Who the fuck's Ronny ?
Dick, who knows who Ronny is because Bruce has been calling him that since their Teen Titans days : Roy. He means Roy.

Robin’s always had a soft spot for Eddie Munson, but up until recently it had been in a distant kind of way; she appreciated his class clown act, the way it had a domino effect of keeping the heat off the band kids, how he hogged the spotlight for any passing douchebag’s attention.
But then they both literally dive into The Upside Down, and her appreciation reaches a whole new level.
They’re in the Wheeler’s garage, thanking their lucky stars that four bikes exist in 1983 (and yeah, Robin’s sure that if she thinks about the whole time thing for half a second more her brain will promptly melt, so she doesn’t).
Each of them are pushing their chosen bike down the driveway, in a dazed sort of silence—the high of the Lite-Brite worn off in the face of another grim journey through The Upside Down.
Steve is flagging, Robin can hear it: his breathing’s growing laboured as he walks, an occasional unsteadiness to him that’s setting her anxiety off all over again, because what if they were wrong, what if it’s really rabies, and it’s too late, it’s coursing through his veins, and he’s—they’re gonna lose him—
“Hey, Harrington,” Eddie says, swinging a leg over his saddle, “wanna race?”
“… Hmm? Sorry, what?” Steve says.
There’s not even that long of a delay in him speaking, but the pause still has Robin’s heart in her throat.
Eddie’s got one foot on a pedal now, ready to set off. He looks back at them with a shaky grin—like he’s terrified, but he’s still gonna have some fun anyway.
“I’m throwing down the gauntlet, King Steve. Bet I’ll be faster than you.”
Steve scoffs, stands up a little straighter before he mirrors Eddie, balancing on the bike with one foot on the pedal.
“How much are we betting?”
Eddie huffs. “Oh, no money involved,” he says nonchalantly. He raises an eyebrow in challenge. “This is just for the glory.”
And God, there’s that spark back in Steve’s eyes; it’s like Robin can physically see his competitive streak giving him strength.
Eddie Munson, you beautiful soul, she thinks, I could kiss you.
“Faster than me? Yeah, maybe in your dreams, Munson,” Steve says.
But Eddie’s already speeding off with a comical whoop; Steve curses as he hurriedly tries to catch up, yelling, “You dick, that’s cheating!”
“Not in my rulebook!” Eddie says with a cackle.
And for a little while, that’s enough to put Robin’s mind at ease: watching the pair of them taunt each other like kids—hearing Nancy laugh at the spectacle as she bikes alongside her.
But then she falls through the Gate, Eddie close behind her, and they freeze when Steve screams Nancy’s name with such fear.
Robin’s plunged back into a mind-numbing panic; she’s sure that her heart doesn’t even begin to slow until they’ve left the trailer park, until Steve’s control of the RV switches from ‘holy shit, we’re on the run, what have our lives become?’ to something more normal—the reliable, measured driving she’s familiar with, taking her to and from school or work.
Finally, she has time to, um… take stock. Of… things.
She wobbles her way over to Eddie, grabbing onto his elbow as Steve takes a turning.
Eddie instantly holds her up, a steadying hand around her waist. “Oh, hi. I’ve gotcha” “Your music isn’t actually shit,” Robin says in one breath. “I know, um, on balance, it’s probably not the worst thing I could’ve said, but the delivery was—but, you know, considering I thought Nance was literally about to die, I’d say it was, like, kinda calm all things considered, but—”
Eddie’s chuckling. “Yeah, on balance,” he echoes teasingly, “you were pretty damn funny, actually. Uh, sorry for. Um. Screaming at you? Basically?”
“Basically,” Robin agrees. “Yeah, you were like impressively loud. Not quite eardrum-rupturing level, but y’know, I don’t actually know anyone who’s really had that happen to them; Amanda Wallis said she ruptured hers at the pep rally ‘cause she was standing too close to us—the band, I mean, but—”
Eddie rolls his eyes. “Oh, that’s bull, there’s no way that’d be loud enough to—”
“—I think she just had a grudge ‘cause David C on mellophone got literally the tiniest bit of spit on her, and he was only—”
“Yeah, well, everyone knows you sit in the splash zone at your own risk.”
“Exactly! She’s had plenty of time to learn marching band protocol.”
“Uh-huh, protocol,” Eddie echoes again, with a giggle.
He’s got a nice kind of laugh, Robin thinks: one where she’s never in doubt that he’s laughing with her rather than at her.
“That stuff you do’s pretty cool,” he says; with his free hand, he actually imitates her mime of playing a trumpet. “You must have good, uh…” She can see the exact moment that he’s having second thoughts about saying it, but he forges ahead anyway, with a hilariously uncertain, “Good… lungs?”
“Fascinating attempt at a compliment,” Robin says. “Luckily for you, I accept insults as, like, equal tokens of friendship.”
Eddie does a double take. He doesn’t go so far as letting out a questioning, “We’re friends?”, but he might as well have said it anyway: his eyes widen for a moment, like someone who’s just been unexpectedly asked out to prom.
Steve takes another turning; he does it smoothly enough, but even he can’t stop the RV from moving with it, and Robin stumbles again, very nearly ends up repeating how she toppled right onto Eddie in The Upside Down.
“Woah there, you’re good,” Eddie says, “just gotta find your, uh, what’s it called? Your equilibrium.”
“I don’t have any,” Robin says, all theatrical devastation, and Eddie snorts.
“Sure you do, Buckley. Look, just take my—yeah, that’s it, then just kinda straighten up… yeah, you’ve got it.”
And yes, after a minute or so, Robin’s footing does feel more certain, but she still keeps a stubborn grip on Eddie’s elbow, just in case.
“God, d’you know what I’m gonna do when all this is over?” Eddie says.
“Pray tell.”
“I’m gonna make a list. What was it you said, Madonna, Blondie…? Whatever, I’m getting all of them, m’never getting caught out like that again.”
“I’m hoping that needing music to evade the clutches of a serial killer from an alternate dimension is, um, strictly a one-time thing.”
“Don’t care,” Eddie says. “Still buying those tapes. Just in case.”
And yeah, it’s said partly in jest, but Robin can hear that he means it. Still, it’s the most optimistic that she’s heard him be so far: making plans for after, like he can really see a way through this. Like maybe he finally knows that they’ll help him get there.
“Need a list of tapes from you too, Buckley. You and Harrington.”
Robin smiles. Her first thought is of singing Total Eclipse of the Heart from the dirt-ridden floor of a mall bathroom, but then she thinks of every car ride with Steve, every time they’ve turned up the radio to belt along, and she knows that there are way too many songs to count.
“Forget a list,” Robin says, “I could fill a book. Same for big boy over there.”
Eddie blinks, like he’s suddenly taking stock, too. “Oh yeah,” he says, laughing lightly, “I did say that, huh?”
“Sure did. I was doubting my ears, too.”
Robin had been hoping they’d long since reached the point of being able to joke around with one another. But while Eddie does laugh again, he also starts biting at his thumbnail, glancing over at Steve in the driver’s seat.
“Um, hey.” Robin manages to keep her balance, briefly pressing her knee against his leg. “I didn’t mean anything by it, Eddie.”
“No, I know.” Eddie huffs self-effacingly. “I’ve kinda got permanent foot-in-mouth disease, my report cards would tell you that.”
Well, if he wants to pass it off as sometimes I just say the darnedest things, Robin would be a hypocrite to deny him.
It fascinates her in a sad sort of way though, how he veers between joking and nervousness—like he’s worried he’s intruding on their group, of overstepping somehow.
She wants to tell him: Look, we all got dragged into this, but we chose to stick around, and you’re no different.
But she no longer has the aftermath of Russian drugs to help bypass her own nerves, to kickstart her sincerity.
“Hey, you’re awfully quiet back there,” Steve calls, and Eddie startles.
Robin shakes her head. “Not us, that’s his—”
“Hello? Henderson, I’m talking to you.”
“We’re not even doing anything!” Dustin shouts back in exaggerated affront.
He’s sat on the backseat of the RV, peering out the window along with Lucas, Erica and Max. Robin stifles a chuckle at the sight; they look like they’re on a field trip—the cool kids at the back of the bus.
“Yeah, well, just checking,” Steve says, amused. “For all I know, you coulda been building a gigantic radio again on, like, the roof of this thing.”
“Cerebro,” Dustin says, just as Eddie lets out a baffled, “Uh, again?”
But then they’re pulling into The War Zone’s parking lot, and any chatter abruptly dies.
Afterwards, Steve gets off the road to park in a reassuringly deserted field. They don’t head outside right away (Robin’s not exactly looking forward to prepping Molotov cocktails), instead staying in the RV to eat junk food they’d grabbed beforehand.
Robin discovers that Dustin’s somehow bought five more cans of Pringles and snorts, declaring, “You’ve got a problem.”
At some point, Steve tries to sneak off to the bathroom so he can change his dressings—“And use actual proper bandages!” Robin calls to him; no offence to Nancy’s resourcefulness, but the torn shirt strips only do so much good.
It becomes a more comical than horrifying event, although she’s sure that’s down to Steve deliberately making it so, like a sleight of hand trick: playing it down as he keeps talking to the kids throughout, never wincing even once.
He ends up having to keep the bathroom door open to continue an argument with Erica over which Scoops Ahoy sundae was the best of all time—then figures that he might as well just step out into the open anyway.
At least the wounds have stopped bleeding—although the sight of Steve cleaning around them with bottled water is one that Robin could personally do without.
The kids are entirely unfazed. They flock to Steve, peering at the glimpses he lets them see like he’s just got a cool tattoo. Robin supposes that after El and whatever nightmare wormy thing was in her leg, they’ve seen everything.
Eddie, however, is another matter. He keeps quiet about it, not obvious at all, but Robin watches his face grow paler and paler before Steve wraps the new bandages around his stomach.
Dustin, bless his precocious little heart, must also notice, because he quickly starts up a seemingly impromptu game of charades, meaning that Eddie is soon distracted by his ridiculously over the top gestures.
“No, Steve, how are you not getting this?”
“I thought the whole appeal of this game was that you’re not meant to talk, Henderson. Dude, watch it, you nearly took Max’s eye out with… whatever the hell that was.”
“Oh my god, it’s Back to the Future, obviously! Ow, Max, I didn’t mean to—uh, yeah, the mime needs to be that big, how else am I gonna project what—”
“Dustin, I swear to god, I’m about to project you out the window,” Steve drawls.
Eddie laughs, hides it behind his hand.
But Steve must catch it, because he glances over at Eddie and winks before he’s dragged back into guessing another movie title.
And Robin’s obviously seen Steve wink before—he does it all the time, so much so that she’s become quite adept at reading when it’s a friendly one for her, or if he’s sharing some kind of in-joke with one of the kids.
She’s also seen his attempts at a ‘smooth’ wink towards some girls at work—and look, he’s Steve Harrington, it’s not like he’s going to be bad at it.
But if you ask Robin, it’s never looked quite right, like he’s always performing to an audience he’s unsure of.
But this wink doesn’t look like it belongs to either of those categories. Well, it’s got something in common with the first: that it looks entirely natural, as if he’s doing it almost without thinking. Like it just feels right.
They go through some more rounds of charades—Dustin’s gestures, if possible, getting even more dramatic—and Eddie gradually goes from contributing a few guesses to none at all, curling up on the backseat. He looks utterly wiped out.
Robin tries to catch Nancy’s eye, and after a few attempts, she gets the message, stands up with a nod.
“Okay, let’s take this outside, guys.”
“Spoken like a true camp counsellor,” Max says.
Nancy acts like she’s offended, but her lips keep twitching into a smile. “Max, never say that to me again.”
“There’s more space outside,” Erica says, “so we can duck out the way of Dustin’s windmilling arms.”
“Hey!”
“I’m bored of charades,” Lucas says. “We could do another competition? Like, I dunno, cartwheels or handstands or something?”
“Oh sure, so I can show you up?” Max returns, grinning.
Steve scoffs. “Uh, if you’re doing a cartwheel competition, I would win.”
“Since when?” Dustin says, an obvious taunt that Steve predictably rises to, flipping him off.
“Save your athletics for Vecna, please,” Nancy cuts in dryly.
“It wouldn’t be a fair fight.” Lucas gestures to Steve’s stomach, a little uncertainly. “You know, considering…”
Steve rolls his eyes. “Whatever. Under normal circumstances, I would kick all your asses.”
“Sure,” Robin says brightly, “but Steve, if you do literally anything more strenuous than sitting down right now, I’m gonna—”
“Uh, Steve would kick your asses, actually,” Eddie says slowly. His voice is muffled from the way his hand’s holding up his chin, partly covering his mouth. “He did gymnastics.”
Robin, surprised, looks to Steve; he’s doing that thing where he scratches at his cheek unconsciously, seems to be a mixture of embarrassed and pleased.
“How’d you know that?” he asks.
Eddie shrugs. “We didn’t have a cover for gym one time, remember? There was a whole group of us slacking off but you just kept doing, y’know,” he twirls his fingers, “tricks on that box thingy.”
“Vaulting box,” Steve corrects like he can’t stop himself. He’s sporting an almost abashed little smile that Robin’s never seen before.
Eddie shrugs again. “S’all Greek to me,” he says, interrupts himself halfway through with a deep yawn.
Steve’s eyes soften. And then he’s ushering the kids outside, “C’mon, you can do whatever competition you want for thirty minutes before we get to work.”
“Got it, coach.”
“Shut up, Mayfield.”
“I’ll be your stopwatch if you’re doing handstands,” Nancy chips in, bringing up the rear—she catches Robin’s eye again, subtly tilts her head in Eddie’s direction and mouths Stay?
Robin nods.
“Uh, that won’t be accurate at all,” comes Dustin’s rebuttal—he’s outside now, but his voice still carries. “Unless you can like accurately keep time in your head down to the second—”
“Oh my god, Dustin, you’re such a shithead.”
“Nancy Wheeler, I’m heartbroken.”
Steve’s chuckle floats through the open door. “She said it, dude, not me.”
“You say it all the goddamn time!”
And then the voices fade away until all Robin can hear is distant laughs and joyful screams. It’s relaxing, in its own way.
“No gymnastics for you, Buckley?” Eddie says.
“Nope, not since 7th grade. Managed two cartwheels before I broke my wrist.”
Eddie winces in sympathy. He’s slumping a bit more; Robin makes herself comfy in the opposite corner of the backseat, gives him the most space.
She feels a weird lump at her back, behind one of the cushions. A quick investigation reveals an issue of TV Guide Magazine.
“Ooh, we can find out what we missed while on the run,” she says, waggling it in front of Eddie.
He smiles with a small huff. “Doubt it. Says 1981 on the front.”
“What’s a little more time travel?”
Robin flicks through to the crossword. She’s all too aware that Eddie’s still sat more stiffly than anything else. With Steve, it would be so easy; she could prod him in the thigh with her toe, light touches until he took the hint and relaxed.
But even before they’d really become friends, they were tactile: a tap on the shoulder to grab attention, bumping hips to move each other out of the way whenever they were scooping ice-cream at the same time. It’d been done so unconsciously, like they were already learning to read each other’s minds.
With Eddie, it’s clear that a different approach is needed.
Robin had caught onto that after her misstep at the boathouse, a pit in her stomach at the sight of Eddie’s hands shaking.
But her instinct to reach out, to soothe, made her unthinkingly try again; as they walked in the woods, she’d heard his breathing quicken, and her hand lightly brushed his back. She drew back as he instantly flinched at her touch.
“Sorry, sorry,” she said hurriedly. “Just—just checking you were okay. Sorry.”
Eddie just stared at her before nodding hesitantly.
And Robin wanted to tell him that it wasn’t by chance, that he had people who cared about him; that she did, and it wasn’t a fluke or an accident—she was choosing it.
She keeps her eyes on the magazine, jots down a few crossword answers. It reminds her of summer days spent reading on her grandparents’ porch, not wanting to startle a cat her grandpa had rescued as it approached her. It was always so spooked.
“You’ve just gotta let him come to you, sweet pea,” her grandma would say.
After a couple minutes, she hears Eddie breathe out, the creak of the seat as he lies down. He rests his head right next to her thigh.
“S’good?” he asks, pointing at the magazine.
“It’s pretty easy.” One of the crossword clues is ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the?’ which isn’t exactly taxing. “I’m used to doing the cryptic ones.”
Eddie laughs. He kinda sounds fond. “Of course you are.”
“They’re not that hard, once you know how to read ‘em.”
“Hmm, I doubt that. Lay one on me, Buckley.”
She purses her lips in thought. “Oh, I got this one last week. Condition of Wyoming, five letters.”
Eddie lifts his head ever so slightly to give her a blank look. “Not a fucking clue.”
“State. Get it? ‘Cause ‘condition’ is the definition, and Wyoming is literally—”
“God, I’m surrounded by geniuses.”
“Well, I’ve got the advantage of a summer of code-breaking.”
Robin slowly raises her hand as she speaks—makes sure to do it in Eddie’s line of vision, spots that he doesn’t pull back, that he even gives the tiniest half-nod. She pats his head twice.
Eddie scrunches up his nose. “Sorry, my hair’s gross.”
“It’s not that bad,” Robin says honestly. “Y’know for being on the run, it’s holding up pretty well. I’m getting whatever shampoo you use.”
Eddie smiles. “Sure.”
“Yours is looking way better than mine did after, like, one day getting wrapped up in all this.” Again, without really thinking, Robin adds, “I had all this sweat and blood and puke in it.”
Eddie’s eyes are closed now. He makes an unhappy sound, prods gently at her knee. “You’ve all gotta work on telling me horrific shit. That should not be casual for you, Buckley.”
He sounds emphatic—protective, even. Robin feels unexpectedly emotional.
“Yeah, sorry. Bad habit.”
Silence falls, and by the time Steve enters the RV, Robin has filled in the whole crossword, Eddie dozing by her side.
Steve’s getting another bottle of water—actually drinking it this time. He’s got grass stains on his knees, and he’s sweating slightly, like the ‘stay still’ advice hasn’t once been taken.
His eyes soften again when he sees Eddie sleeping—he doesn’t need to linger, but he does.
Robin watches.
We need more time, Steve, she thinks suddenly. For you to keep looking at him like that—for him to be awake to see it.
Steve tears his eyes away. Lands on her.
She smiles, mouthing What?
Steve rolls his eyes. He imitates her ‘what?’ mockingly, but then he smiles back and taps at his wrist, mimes winding a watch on. It’s what they do whenever they’re slammed at work, wanting to talk, but only able to briefly catch each other’s eyes in the rush. Later.
She taps her wrist. Later, she promises.
He gives her a double thumbs up—what a dork—before heading back outside.
Robin quietly puts the magazine away. Ever so carefully, she lightly strokes Eddie’s hair, feels her heart swell and break at the same time when he sighs contentedly in his sleep.
You’d better look after yourself, Eddie Munson, she thinks. You’ve got people here. People who really want you to stick around.

Drunky girlfriend
Hi guys!
To honor my little Swiss princess, here’s a little thing with her.
Enjoy!
TW: Alcohol
Peacefully installed on her sofa under a plaid with a book that she wanted to discover for a long time, Lia is rather relaxed. Despite it being Saturday night, she chose to stay at home and enjoy an evening of calm. The sky has been dark for many hours outside and hearing the wind blowing from her sofa gives her an impression of extreme comfort.
Her phone is not far from her though, so she can see a notification from you, whatever it is. A message, a call, a photo, whatever. Despite your pleas, Lia preferred to stay home tonight but encouraged you to go out with some of your teammates. So a few hours ago you confirmed to her that you had arrived at the bar you had chosen, accompanied by Katie, Caitlin, Leah and Laura. But she asked you to call her so she could pick you up and take you home. At yours or hers, you haven't exactly decided.
After washing her teeth and grooming, Lia went to lie in bed, taking her book and phone with her. It's only when her phone rings that she realizes that she has fallen asleep.
"Hello?"
A mixture of discussions, music, screams and laughter resonate in her ear before someone speaks.
"Wally, it’s Leah. I think your girlfriend is ready to go home."
The fun is easy to hear in Leah’s tone, but the fact that she calls her with your phone worries the Swiss woman.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yes, she’s fine. But I think she got her quota of alcohol"
"I’m coming" Lia says, rolling her eyes. "Thank you, Leah."
After agreeing to get you to the exit and possibly make you drink some water, Lia hangs up and puts a coat over her clothes to get to her car. It’s not raining, but the wind is freezing and Lia hurries, not wanting to make you wait too long in these weather conditions.
The brunette has no problem locating the bar where you are, this is clearly not the first time that the girls from Arsenal go there and she went there herself several times as well. After parking, Lia gets out of the vehicle looking for you.
She ends up locating you effectively outside the establishment, collapsed laughing clinging to Katie who seems to be in the same state as you. Leah supervises you with an amused smile and cross arms and greets Lia with a hug when she reaches her height.
"What’s happening to them?" asks Lia, looking at you, unable to help but smile at you over the blonde’s shoulder.
"I didn’t understand what makes them laugh so much, but it sounds very funny" smiled Leah before shoving a bottle of water in Lia’s hands. "Well, I tried but she is convinced I want to poison her."
"I see she’s not the only one who abused alcohol"
Both of them turn their eyes on Katie and you, both trying to catch your breath between two bursts of laughter, which seems to worsen your laughter.
"This shot contest might not have been a good idea" agrees Leah. "Good luck"
She taps on Lia’s shoulder with sympathy, a small mischievous smile displayed on her lips however. The Swiss woman sighs softly and approaches you. You still haven’t seen her, too busy talking nonsense with Katie. It's only when she is at your height that you finally spot her.
"Baby!" you shout cheerfully before jumping into her arms.
"Here comes the missus" laughs Katie.
The impact makes Lia step back a few steps, but she nevertheless manages to catch you up and stabilize you both.
"What are you doing here? I thought you didn’t want to come?"
"I came to take you home" smiles Lia
"Already? But it's early baby" you complain in a childish tone. "Look, the sun is still there!"
You point over your heads with your finger, Lia following the direction with her eyes before laughing softly.
"That’s called a lamppost, my love."
"Oh."
You look at the lamppost with scepticism and a frown, triggering Leah’s laughter behind you. The blonde grabs Katie by the arm to train with her.
"Well, I’ll bring this one back to me. Cait and Laura want to stay a while longer."
"Do you need a lift?" Lia kindly offers.
Having assured her that everything will be fine for them, Leah and Katie disappear inside the establishment, no doubt to recover their belongings before going home. For your part, you remained hypnotized by the light of the lamppost and Lia must hold a small laugh before passing her arm around your waist to take you with her.
"What are you doing? I have a girlfriend at home, you know?"
"Oh, did you now?"
Lia laughs and shakes her head before getting you on the passenger side, taking care not to bump your head against the door. After she buckles you up, she goes around the car to sit behind the wheel.
"Yeah, and she’s not gonna be happy to know you touched me like that. She’s gonna make you pay" you keep rambling, much for your girlfriend's amusement.
"She must be pretty strong then"
Lia started the vehicle into traffic, deciding to take you at her home. She fears that if you go to your home, you spend an hour in front of the front door looking for your keys in the different pockets of your bag or jacket. Rightly so.
"She is" you smile. "She’s also incredibly beautiful. And sexy. She has a smile to die for and her eyes… are kind of like yours?"
The tone of your voice was slower and interrogative at the end of your sentence when your eyes cross Lia's. You blink several times looking at her before a big smile light your face.
"Lia baby!"
Lia laughs this time and gives you the bottle of water she put between your two seats.
"Drink instead of talking nonsense."
It takes you a few minutes to open the bottle of water and drink a little, but it has the advantage of keeping you busy while Lia brings you to your destination. Once again, Lia goes around the car to open your door, reaching out to help you get out. Her help is not too much this time, the negative effects of alcohol starting to be felt.
"Are you okay?" Lia asks, looking at you carefully
"I’m just a little dizzy" you mumble and concentrate on walking straight.
Lia nods and guides you sweetly to the front door and you find with pleasure the warmth of her home.
"Come on, to the bathroom and then to bed, young lady" said Lia, hanging your jackets next to the entrance.
"But I’m hungry" you wine as you grab the bottom of her sweater.
Lia, angel of patience, is content to smile while rolling her eyes. Taking you in the kitchen, she sits you on a kitchen element before rummaging in her cupboards to take out a pack of your favorite snacks.
"You’re the best girlfriend in the world" you smile cheerfully as you open the package.
"Yeah, sure" laughs softly the Swiss by taking out her phone.
You look suspiciously at her smile when she look at the screen before replying to the message she received.
"Who are you writing to?" you ask quietly.
"Leah, she just told me she went home" Lia answer before putting her phone back on her pocket. "What is it?" she asks when she sees your look.
"You're not cheating on me, are you?"
"Oh god Y/N, of course not" Lia sighs.
For the first time of the evening she looks really annoyed and you find yourself staring at the tip of your socks while chewing your snack. Your sudden silence seems to attract Lia's attention who approaches you and leans against your legs.
"What is it now?"
"Nothing" you mumble
"You're lying" she says, kissing your cheek.
"You snap at me" you pout lightly.
"I’m sorry. But you know how I feel about infidelity and all that comes with it. Besides, who would distract me as much as you do on a Saturday night?"
You smile softly as you look up at her, once again crossing her beautiful clear eyes. Now that your snack is over, Lia takes the empty paper to throw in the trash and take you to the bathroom. Sitting on the toilet, you let her patiently remove your makeup before you brush your teeth.
Lia takes advantage of you ending up in the bathroom to go put on her pajamas and bring you yours. When you’re done, you switch places and climb with some form of relief into her bed. Surrounded by her smell, you smile greatly while spreading in the middle of the bed.
The Swiss woman joins you a few minutes later, freshly washed and ready for the night. You don’t wait a second before putting yourself on the side, despite its calm appearance that could make think otherwise, it’s definitely Lia in the role of the big spoon in your couple. Even if you happen to switch, you enjoy feeling herarms around you to fall asleep.
"Thank you for coming for me" you mumble hardly, already half asleep.
"Of course" Lia replies, gently kissing your hair.
"Can we have sex?" you ask after a few minutes.
Lia laughs again, her laughter shaking you both slightly.
"Certainly not with you in this state Love. I don’t even know if you’ll remember anything tomorrow morning"
You give a grunt for any answer, before closing your eyes and deciding
"Tomorrow morning, then."
"Let’s do this" smiles Lia
New seconds pass, during which you play mechanically with Lia's fingers. Then you turn slightly so you can look at her.
"Can I at least have a good night kiss?"
"With pleasure my Love"

I love your Alive AU, it's been on my brain ever since I discovered it! I had a funny thought when it came to Reader referring to housing the Neighbors as "raising kids"- imagine if Wally (being more experienced in the real world than the others) liked to tease Reader by calling him and them the "parents" of the family! (Kind of like Tamaki from OHSHC) and the Reader is just like "I have never agreed to this once."
"Married" Wally x reader
(Takes place in the Alive AU)
Oh I can absolutely see Wally doing this. He definitely knows what he's doing when compared to the others. Wally even acts just like a dear husband to the reader to really sell the role he has in their life now. Helping them when they need it, being an emotional support when the reader is down, and helping with the "kids" when they start to get out of hand. And of course cooking and dancing! Though the reader needed to teach him how to cook. Being able to taste is a new thing to him...
And the smells, oh the pleasant smells that linger on you makes him want to cuddle you all day. But he understands that if he lets himself get too carried away you might get suspicious of him. For now he will act like the rest. New to this and and confused about the world they're in. It doesn't mean he can't have fun though.
"Ohh Darling!~ Did you make sure to tell the kids to clean up after themselves? I'd hate for my dearest beloved to be stressed out with a mess being left behind." He turned around after taking the cookies out of the oven, he knew he was out of earshot from the others.
Your face was beet red. "Wally! You can't just say that!" You whisper shouted.
"Oh? And why not Darling? Don't you love me?" He set the cookies aside to cool off, now keeping his back to you, probably hiding that big smirk across his face.
"Only married couples have the same last name!" You sat down hoping to hide your red cheeks in your knees.
"What's married?" He feigned innocence, turning around to bash his eyelids at you. You didn't buy it.
"You know what...just. Nevermind."
He gave a soft hum and knelt down to give you a kiss on the cheek, something you got used to. "I love you too my Darling."

🍎 Midnight Whispers 🍎 Wally Darling x Reader Oneshot!
Tags: Fluff, Romantic, Established Crush and Friendship! Summary: You and Wally have been close friends for some time now! But when you fall asleep early at a sleepover, who knows what you might hear...
(Lovely Art done by karoochui on Twitter!)
Laughter surrounds you, as Barnaby and Julie are cracking up at their own jokes as everyone around them rolled their eyes and groaned. It was a Friday evening, which meant the neighborhood had their weekly get-togethers to catch up and overall have a joyous time, which Julie hosted, of course!
The scent of warm vanilla and sugar filled the air as Poppy was baking her signature cookies while everyone hung out in the living room. Howdy was helping Poppy in the kitchen, Sally, Julie, and Barnaby were sitting in some beanbags, Eddie and Frank were on the love seat, and where were you? Sitting on the couch with no other than Wally Darling himself. You couldn't help but steal a glance in his direction every once in a while. Whether he had his signature smile or laughing at all the commotion.
You were very close with all the neighbors, being in the neighborhood for months, everyone was so welcoming! But Wally always seemed to catch your eye. No matter where or who you were with, Wally would eventually come along on your adventures and tasks with the other neighbors. You two became close because of it! Most of the neighbors would even say you're best friends. You were that close!
You couldn't help but admit, though, that he does make you feel butterflies. Maybe it was his caring disposition or the way you would catch him staring, but it made your heart soar. But Wally? Liking you? You couldn't even entertain the thought. He's known everyone for so long that him liking you seemed farfetched. It was still a nice thought, though nonetheless.
Barnaby's laugh distracted you from your thoughts. "Ok, ok! I have another," he chuckled. "What should you do when you want to try something different with your baking?"
"Oh, oh! I think I know this one!" Julie spoke, with the biggest grin on her face. You couldn't help but smile along with her, even if you knew what was coming.
"Take a whisk!"
"Ha ha ha... that's a good one, Bud." Wally spoke, as you couldn't help but smile warmly. Seeing Wally smile brought you so much joy.
Poppy couldn't help but sigh, a chuckle escaping her as Barnaby and Julie burst out laughing more. "Oh my, you can't find dad jokes that funny, do you?"
"What's wrong with a good ol' dad joke?
"Everything!" Frank chimed in as Eddie chuckled.
"Oh, Frank, lighten up once in a while!" You spoke, causing Frank to roll his eyes in frustration.
"Says you! If anything came from Mr. Darling over there, you'd be a having a laughing fit. Don't try to deny it!"
A faint blush rose to your cheeks as you flashed an angry glare toward him. "Of course I would. He's actually funny, unlike you spoilsport!" You huffed, crossing your arms. Frank, despite his disposition, was smart. He probably knew about your crush on Wally before you even did! Meaning Julie knew as well since they were best buds.
Julie looked over, a playful smirk on her face as you tried to avoid her gaze. "Oh, what's wrong, neighbor? You look a little red~" She teased, getting up from her bean bag to slide next to you on the couch, or, more so slide into you, causing you to close more of the gap with Wally. You gave her a death glare but couldn't help but notice that Wally was staring at you, which caused that blush to fester more.
"Don't you have a shooting star to wish upon?" You teased back, causing Julie to huff, turning a light shade of pink herself. You knew she had a crush on Sally, so two could play at this game. Sally, though, was oblivious, reading through her scripts to memorize her lines for the next play she was going to produce. Julie was lucky... this time.
"Frank, you're not being very neighborly," Wally spoke up with a soft laugh. "Our dear neighbor is just the absolute most! Not my fault they think I'm funny, I do tell good jokes."
Before Frank could retort, Howdy interjected. "The cookies are done, everyone! Come grab yourselves some!"
With an excuse to remove yourself, you quickly got up from the couch, dusting yourself off before running into the kitchen. The scent of vanilla infects your nose as you let yourself relax. "Poppy, these smell delicious!"
"Why, thank you hon! Howdy here was a big help, don't forget to thank him too." She spoke, as you looked, seeing an embarrassed Howdy rubbing the back of his neck.
"Aw gee, I didn't do that much -"
"You did plenty! Don't sell yourself short!"
The two playfully argued back and forth as you grabbed a warm cookie, taking a small bite into its ooey-gooeyness, not noticing Wally walking up beside you.
"Is it good neighbor?"
You almost choked, startled by the voice, as you swallowed. You tried to give a thumbs-up as you attempted to stop coughing. "Yes, it's great -" you coughed, as Julie walked up next, patting your back. God, you felt like a fool.
"Well don't choke now! How else are you going to enjoy more cookies?" She spoke happily, grabbing two cookies as Sally, Eddie, Frank, and Barnaby walked up.
Sally glanced outside, stifling a yawn. "It is starting to get pretty late though, should we start to head back to our homes?"
Eddie nodded, "I was thinking the same, I have a busy day of delivering plenty of packages tomorrow!"
Julie took a bite of her cookie and nodded, as did Howdy and Poppy.
"That might be the best..but! I know you're trying to practice for your play, if you'd like Sally I wouldn't mind if you wanted to stay over...I could help of course!" Julie spoke, and Sally nodded happily with a smile.
Everyone seemed to mutually agree that it might be best to head home for the night, and after everyone grabbed their cookies, everyone started to make their way out. Eddie and Frank left first, then Barnaby, then Poppy and Howdy, til all that was left was you and Wally, cleaning up the remnants of the cookies, and picking up the mess before you left, it's what good neighbors do after all!
"You're so kind neighbor, thank you for helping me clean up! But I think Sally and I got it covered from here.." Julie spoke sheepishly, and I smirked back, about to speak but Wally did first.
"Julie you can just say you want alone time with Sally!~" Wally teased, causing Julie to get redder, and Sally to raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"Out out out!" Julie retorted, grabbing both Wally and I and practically shoving us out, slamming the door behind us.
Wally and I looked at each other, and we couldn't help but laugh. It was all so silly!
"You would think with how outgoing Julie is, she'd be brave or even bold in telling someone she likes them!"
Wally just laughed, dusting himself off. He seemed more relaxed now that it was just the two of us. I couldn't blame him, sometimes I get overwhelmed in groups too.
"Julie is an absolute sweetheart, but you'd be surprised. She's as stubborn as can be, especially with her feelings! Though, she loves to tease others about theirs."
'Don't I know it...' I thought to myself, as I looked, noticing the sun was starting to set, and my home was unfortunately the farthest one away. "Well, shall we get going Mr. Darling?"
Wally held his arm out for me to hold. "Whenever you are!"
I shyly took his arm, he was such a gentleman. 'It didn't mean anything! He's just being nice!' I thought, shaking my head, as we made our way towards Home. Though, I could have sworn his smile growing wider, wishful thinking I guess.
"I don't know how people can handle long gatherings, my poor social battery is trying its best." I chuckled, starting up a conversation.
Wally glanced over, looking a little concerned that quickly turned to mischief. "Well neighbor, I was going to invite you over for a sleepover, but if you're too tired then I can be all by my lonesome~" He spoke, being rather coy and dramatic, putting his hand to his head as I rolled my eyes.
"I would love to have one! Just because social gatherings get me tired, doesn't mean I'm ever tired of you specifically." I grumbled, glancing over with a smile. Wally looked a little pink, though it was probably the sunset...definitely the sunset.
"Well, I'm glad you think of me in that way neighbor."
It was comfortable silence walking Home, as we saw the familiar red house in the center of town. Making our way up to the door, it creaked as its shutters move.
"Yes home, Neighbor is staying with us tonight! We're having a sleepover!"
Home creaked again, sounding happy as it opened the door for Wally and I. Wally glanced toward me, motioning inside, to which I obliged, letting go of his arm and heading in.
It was quite a bright and colorful home. The walls were bright red, with yellow couches in the living room and colorful portraits of the neighbors all along the wall. Despite its bright colors, home felt cozy. I've been inside before to chat with Wally or to relax with him on days I felt like talking to anyone else would be too much. It was a nice friendship we had.
Friendship...man, those words stung.
The shutting of the door took me out of my thoughts as Wally put his hand to his chin.
"Ok, so what do you think of getting on some pajamas and watching a movie to finish the night off neighbor?"
"I don't have pajamas on me-"
"Silly. Silly. You can borrow mine. That's what neighbors do! Let me go grab some" He cut me off, speaking matter-of-factly as he went down the hallway. Moments later he returned with a blue shirt and some stripped pants, offering them to me.
"That works then, I'll take the couch too, to be polite! Until then, I'll go get changed, and you choose a movie. Thank you again!" I grabbed the clothes, walking down the hallway to the bathroom to get changed and freshen up.
Putting on the clothes, I looked at myself in the mirror, running my hands through my hair to smooth it out and get some of it out of my eyes. The clothes fit somehow, as I folded my other clothes neatly and held them in my hands.
Stepping out, I walk back into the living room with an already-changed Wally. How did he change so fast? He had his stripped pajamas on as well as a blue robe and red house slippers on.
"Oh, neighbor! I found a movie, come and get comfortable, I'll get a blanket!"
Smiling, I went and sat down on the couch, as the movie began to play.
"Is this the Aristocats? I haven't seen this movie in ages I feel." I looked at the familiar animated cats that began to play on the screen. Wally smiled and sat down next to me shortly after, grabbing a blanket and putting it on the both of us.
"Yes! I figured an animated movie might be good to unwind to. As an artist I'm always enthralled with how they animate, it truly is a wonder."
I smiled, watching his eyes seem to dilate at the movie on the screen, as he seemed to absorb every little bit of information he could.
As we watched the movie, I could feel myself getting tired, my eyelids feeling heavy as I leaned my head on Wally's shoulder unapologetically. I yawned, as I felt Wally adjust, as the cats danced and sang on screen, until the tiredness took over, and I shut my eyes.
...
I heard the TV shut off and the room fade to quiet as my eyes were shut. I was too comfortable, I didn't want to move, or open my eyes, this was nice. I could feel Wally shuffle, and I groaned, him moving softly as he gently lifted my head off his shoulder, before putting it back down.
I opened my eyes slightly, I was...horizontal now? I moved my head, only to realize I was laying on Wally's chest, as he laid back on the couch, resting his head on the armrest. My heart began to beat faster before I felt a hand on my head, rubbing it, which calmed me down. I shut my eyes again, feeling comfort at that moment as I heard a soft sigh.
"You're so cute when your sleepy neighbor..." Wally spoke softly, and I could feel him staring at me, rubbing my head. I felt more awake, but I acted like I was asleep, what more could he say?
"I hope your resting well...and having sweet dreams... I'm glad you're here, even if you are sleeping. At least you're sleeping soundly." Another sigh escaped him, he seemed to be deep in thought.
"You always make my days better, from the moment you came into the neighborhood, I knew you were going to be special to me. You had such a kind smile, despite being nervous about meeting us. It..was sweet. You took notice to me immediately it seems, and introduced yourself so quickly."
I couldn't help but smile in my sleep as I listened to him speak, he really thought that way about me?
"I wish I could be braver around you...I guess that's why I'm saying this while you sleep... that makes me a coward huh? But, that's ok. I don't mind watching your beauty from afar. You always seem to brighten up my days, even if you aren't directly in them. Though, I'd always want you to be in them.."
I adjusted myself slightly to get comfortable, Wally halting his words until he could tell I was 'asleep' again. He covered me up more with the blanket before rubbing my head again as he continued.
"I guess you could say...I like you...but I'd want to tell you in a cordial way! You deserve the best..not something bland. Maybe I could get you flowers, or maybe I could paint you...you are one of my biggest muses. Maybe a picnic? I'm unsure...maybe I need to ask Julie.."
Wally yawned, getting more tired by the minute, while I was trying my hardest to hide my smile and act asleep.
"Even tonight you were just, divine...I could feel myself getting nervous. Thankfully everyone was joking, or you might have noticed. You were all I could focus on..."
Silence hung in the air for a moment, as I hung onto every word. It was sweet, he made me feel safe.
"You feel different from the rest of the world, you had...this spark, that no one else did. Something like that can't be ignored...so I..I fell in love with you. I fell in love with the spark you gave me. I fell in love with the way you made me believe that I could feel this way about someone.." I could slowly start to feel my mind slipping again, his loving words making me relaxed and my heart fluttered. I wasn't going to interrupt him, especially now. His voice was becoming softer and softer, as were his head patting motions, as he seemed to become more relaxed. This would be a talk for the morning, for now?
This moment was all I needed.
After some deep breaths, the cozy warmth finally overtook me, as I slipped off into dreamland, the biggest smile on my face. ...
The morning came, almost too quickly, as I yawned, stretching to wake myself up. "Good morning neighbor, did you sleep well?" Wally spoke softly. Did he even sleep? I looked up at him, with a soft smile.
"The best sleep I've had in a long time."

Not Exactly Cinderella Part 2
Part 1
WC: 818
“You have a thing for black hair and blue eyes, huh?” Dick teased, looking at the guy that Wally had pointed out. He laughed as Wally slapped his shoulder for the comment. “What? I’m not complaining. And you’re right, he does have a cute smile.”
Wally just blushed again.
“Well, come on, I think that most of my official duties are done. Let’s go see what he’s like,” Dick said, heading back towards the stairs.
“What if he’s a jerk?” Wally asked.
“Then we just move on and go find someone else to talk to,” Dick answered easily. “This isn’t a mission or anything, Walls, if you don’t click you don’t click. You can think his smile is cute and not want to do anything with him.”
Wally sighed, though, rather than being comforted by that.“You keep talking like he’ll want to do something with me.”
Dick stopped them at the bottom of the stairs, tugging them to the side. He knew he probably looked a little worried, but he couldn’t help it. No, of course he could fake it, he was a damn Bat, but he didn’t want to. Wally deserved to know that he was bothered by this. If Dick had known that Wally was having these self esteem issues, he would have done something earlier.
Wally deserved to know how amazing he was.
“If he doesn’t want you, it will because he’s straight or not into quick romance or doing something physical,” Dick said. “Or because he’s insane and doesn’t like red heads. Never trust someone who doesn’t like red heads.”
Wally rolled his eyes but he looked more relaxed. “Just because you have a thing for red heads…”
“Walls, sweetheart, you’re amazing. You’re smart and funny and fun. And you’re pretty damn hot too between the red hair and adorable freckles and your runner’s body. If he’s not into you there could be reasons for it, but it’s not because you aren’t an amazing catch.”
Wally let out a breath of air and nodded. “Okay. Sure. I mean, I don’t agree but sure. Let’s go talk to him.”
“Great!” Dick said with a grin. He took Wally’s hand but dropped it as they got closer to their target. The guy must have taken a break from his last discussion and was over to the side with a fresh drink in hand. Dick detoured them briefly to get drinks also; it was important for everyone to feel like they were on the same social page. They settled near the other as if taking a break from the crowd themselves.
“Enjoying the evening?” Dick asked, drawing the strangers blue eyes to them.
Oh, fuck, more adorable freckles.
“You know, I actually am,” he said, seeming surprised by that. As an after thought he held out his hand. “Oh, sorry, I’m Danny.”
Not a socialite if he was leaving off the last name. That was a positive.
“Dick,” he said, shaking the offered hand before backing off. “And this is Wally.”
“Nice to meet you,” Danny said, as he shook Wally’s hand. “You two having a good night?”
“Mostly. We’re finally where we can relax and talk to who we want to, which is nice. Wally here always has to track down the other scientists at these things,” Dick answered for them, pleased when Danny perked up at that.
“Are you scientist?” Danny asked
“Chemist, mostly material sciences but some organic too,” Wally said with a slightly bashful little smile. “You?”
“Bimolecular and biomedical engineering,” Danny said.
At least Dick would have an easy excuse to duck out when the conversation got too technical for him.
“Did they do the same thing with you and keep trying to make you pick one?”
Danny laughed and gave a little shrug. Dick could tell Wally almost swooned at the sound— not that Dick could blame Wally, Danny had a really nice laugh and the crooked smile was downright precious.
“Totally. I though that two of them were going to get in a fist fight over me at one point! Which I suppose at least would have been hilarious. I’ve won so far, but it’s going to be hard to pick a doctorate when I get there.”
“Oh man, good luck. I got my masters last year and stopped for now. Want to get some work experience, you know?” Wally asked. “But it sounds like you’ll kick ass whatever you choose. Where are you going to school right now? Gotham doesn’t really do much of that, right?”
“U Penn,” Danny said. “I’m close enough location wise that my godfather called in a favor for me to be his plus one for this event, but it really hasn’t been that bad so far.
“Who’s your godfather?” Dick asked curiously.
Danny smiled that crooked smile again. “Vlad Masters.”
Dick couldn’t help the way his nose wrinkled at that.
Danny just laughed.
--
AN: Just a little bit of Dick's POV! And oh no, Dick thinks Danny is cute too! Whatever will we do...
Wanted to write more of this, but *waves hand at everything*. But this brings us to the end of the 'new schedule'! It was fun to do but I certainly won't be doing it every week. It's back to just trauma Tuesday for now! Stay delightful, darlings.

@inverselyanalog discovered this fantastic post from Clown’s Tumblr two years ago which contains apparent prank call conversations between You and some of the Welcome Home cast!! 👀 i cut and amplified the talk Wally has with you - now you know what he sounds like 😉 just so you know, Clown has stated this is non-canonical, but we do know they kept Wally’s delightfully strange laugh!!
Transcript:
Wally: ‘Hello? ...Hello? ...Hello?
Ha ha ha ha ha! I'm only kidding. I know you're there. Did you like my joke? I think you are going to say...'Yes!'. Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha! It's...hard, to hear you think through this...'funny phone'. Very fuzzy. A little like me. Speaking of...
Do you know who I am?
*Gasps* Oh no! Well, that's not neighbourly at all. We've never met before. Don't worry, though. You and I haven't spoken, but I've seen you...whenever you've looked into my eyes. What did you see, when you did? Ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha ha ha! I hope you saw a friend. But I'm not sure you saw a name...
Sit still.
Let's start over.
Ring. Ring. Ring. Click!
Hi. I'm Wally. I'm so happy to finally meet you. I think you're the absolute most.
Uh oh. I have to go now. Everyone is probably thinking about their strange phone call. What fun to talk about! Don't worry though, neighbour. It will be a little joke between you and me. They're not ready to meet you yet. Remember, until you hear me again, keep your smile merry, and always know that I love you very much.
Goodbye!'

Batfam Shenanigans Headcannons: Pt 6
When the League first took shape it was understood they should anyone need assistance in their own personal cities that someone would respond. By this point Superman and Batman had teamed up the most so it was understood that Batman Could work with others in Gotham he just prefer to bleed out first.
The first time the league met Robin it was kinda surprising. Batman entered the Watchtower and the League noticed the traffic signal dressed boy behind him.
“Spooky, whatcha got there?” Hal raised a brow.
“A dark Roast.” He drank his coffee.
“He meant the boy Bats.” Barry clarifies.
“I’m Robin.”
“….”
“…..”
“…..”
“Can you play games with your ring Mr. Lantern?” He beamed.
“We can keep him.” Hal replied.
The first time Green Arrow and Black Canary visited the cave they were met the a excited Robin who was happy that Batman let someone visit. Batman didn’t share the excitement.
During a mission Wonder Woman, Flash, and Hawkgirl visit the cave and come across the little gremlin that is Robin.
“Hello child, where is Bruce?” Diana beamed at the child. Dick munching on a cookie points behind him to Bruce hunched over at the Batcomputer. The group walk to him and he’s covered in bandages.
“You look like crap.” Diana pokes his side.
“I fought Bane and was thrown off the rooftop. But thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Is there more cookies?” Flash asks.
A few years later when Batgirl joins Bruce, she’s immediately taken in by Dinah.
“Right hook.”
“Remember your center don’t expose yourself to an opponent.” Dinah calls out to Batgirl.
“You’re a great teacher Dinah.”
“Very kind, but we still have much work to do little Bat. Are you up for it?”
“Bring it.”
It’s comical how some of the Robin will just appear out of thin air. Hal walks into his room to find Robin (Tim) studying the Lantern battery. “Lost kid?”
“No.”
“…you bats always like this?”
“Like what?”
Clark doesn’t notice a Robin clinging to his leg like a baby kola bear.
“Uncle Clark can we get—“
“Ahhhhh, oh it’s just you.”
“You didn’t know I was here?” Dick looks up at him.
“Sorry, kiddo. I’m think we should get you a bell.”
“Okie.”
“So, the bag of heads. Were they real?” Barry asks between bits of chili dog.
“…I was a little theatrical back then.” Red Hood hums.
“But they were fake, right?”
“….”
Ollie can’t go five feet with other Spoiler and Black Bat following him like shadows.
“I don’t know if I’m supposed to be honored or terrified.”
“Both.” Cass replies.
“Father says you come from Mars, I’ve been told your people were intelligent and superior race. I wish to learn about your home planet.”
“Very well.” J’onn nods at Robin.
The Question enters his room to find his last three unsolved cases, solved and a fresh cup of coffee. He knows it’s the third Robin. He would always sneak off and go over clues with him while Batman was busy with the others.
HawkGirl and Spoiler love sparring together. They both find it entertaining watching the other women push herself and learn from one another.
Bart and Konner are the least bit surprised to find Tim at the computer screen in the exact same spot. They spend the next forty minutes trying to get Tim to take a break because he hasn’t blink once since they left him to go watch Jon’s baseball game.
Damian and Jason spend every Sunday together. It’s actually funny because Damian will agree to plans with Dick or Jon and cancel last minute because he and Jason are reading the next several chapters of a novel and munching on Cinnamon rolls Jason baked that day. Alfred the cat is invited too.
Sometimes Cass likes to keep tabs on her family, she has been known to scare the Justice League by watching Batman from the shadows. She enjoys scaring Superman the most. Bruce enjoys this too.
Donna and Wally are Dick’s emergency contacts. Bruce finds this a little hurtful but doesn’t question it. Donna is also Dick’s Power of Attorney incase someone needs to handle important matters for him should he be unable to do so.
Out of all of Dick’s OG team Damian likes Garth the best.
Starfire and Babs had a rocky start to the relationship but no the two are thick as thieves. They go to little shops together and movies. And they truly do have a sisterly bond, Kori will berate stores for not including wheelchair access and providing disabled bathrooms. Barbara has had break two guys hands from trying to get fresh while Kori was clothes shopping. The two even have weekly movie nights at the Clocktower.

Batfam/Batboys with a Yandere S/O
[This is something I wanted to write personally and decided to share with all of ya'll. Please remember this is fiction, since it has come to my attention that it needs to be stated. I do not condone this behavior, I just enjoy writing it. Thank you, enjoy.]
-
Batman/Bruce Wayne:
Yan S/O is devoted to him, would literally kill anyone just to make him happy.
Even if Bruce knows that your love for him isn't healthy, he doesn't let you go. He honestly finds comfort in your love, it's tight like collar on the both of you. Yet, he can't help himself but let your chains keep him together.
You love him to the point of no return. Willing to forsake the world, morals, everything. Even Talia can't do that. You want to hold him and keep him safe in your sickingly-sweet embrace.
Bruce has a case of savior complex with you, thinking he can change you. Where your desires to coat Gotham in red aren't necessary for him to love you.
But to you, it matters that you try to kill anyone in your way to Bruce's heart, or maybe just managing to keep them at arms-length.
Those finky, so-called, "villians" are apart of your anger. They CRAVE Batmans attention, which should only be for YOU.
Bruce and Batman do their best to keep you from killing villians. Most times failing and trying to cover it up for your sake and his reputation.
I could see Yan S/O just straight up telling Bruce that they are gonna raise his childern..
Which is kinda true, since they managed to get Alfred's approval. 《No clue how...》
Anyway, Yan S/O is around for all of the Batfam. Being the kindest and sweetest parental figure ever. Often threatening and hurting villians when they try to get in the way of family outings or straight up killing them under the guise of "self-defense."
You teach your way of "love" to Dick and then so on and so fourth. Causing a horrible cycle and generation of yandere Batfam. It's kinda funny.
"Just what exactly are you teaching him (Y/N)?" Bruce asked you, his tone accusing as he watched you clean up blood off the floor of the parlor room.
Jason sat on a small armchair, a notepad in hand as he re-reads over his notes.
Dick strolls up beside the older Wayne, watching the scene.
"Oh! I remember when you taught me that trick, gotta remember this little-wing!"
Richard [Dick] Grayson:
This man has been emotionally starved, having been raised by Bruce.
Dick has been in many romantic relationships, but they mostly fall flat and him and his romantic partners become just friends. Which is fine, but he still yearns for a romantic connection.
Or honestly a positive connection that has someone caring for him instead. Yes he's a good brother and son, but Bruce and his brothers mostly depend on him as the "happy-go-luck Dick Grayson".
Not the moody and depressed part of him.
Yet he meets Yan S/O, who is pretty much his personal everything. Cheerleader, bestie, (beside Wally), cuddle buddy, ect.
In your eyes, he could do no nothing wrong. You hold no high standard as how he should be seen.
He doesn't need to be the "Nightwing of Bludhaven" nor the "sweet and handsome Grayson".
He is YOURS, and you are his.
"Hey~ Welcome back," you whisper kindly. Aiding him inside the apartment. More-so dragging him in with strength he didn't know you possess.
Dick smiles at you, his eyes tired and body woozy from working late hours.
-
Jason Todd:
Jason never really grew up in a loving home, when he did however, it was taken away from him very early on.
So when any once of love he gets from Yan S/O, he tries to push it away. Thinking he'll loose it, somehow.
Yet if Yan S/O proves their devotion, Jason will accept their advances.
He doesn't see you as a total threat to himself, to other's though, that's a different story..
You listen to him, wanting to know every bits and fucked-up pieces of him.
You don't see him as some type of puzzle to finish, you just want to know him. To love him.
Holding his hands in your own, you place them on your forehead. Breathing out a content sigh, tracing his fingers gently. As if he was made out of porcelain and not a monster he saw himself as.
Tim Drake [Wayne]:
Tim is concerned about Yan S/O affections, finding them perfect. Too perfect.
He's afraid to love them, because Yan S/O is all he could imagine as a perfect lover for him.
Kind, attentive, uncaring of his coffee addiction.
Someone who'll listen to him need out about ANYTHING.
It could be the stupid-est thing ever, yet you'll stare him like a love stricken idiot.
Even when he talks about someone he likes, you'll still smile. With clear hurt in your eyes, yet never sabotage his dates or try to change his mind. Just listen with a open heart, hoping for the privilege to let you love him.
He honestly doesn't want to push it, knowing you'd have to have a limit.
But you never crack..
It drives him mad.
To the point where he surrenders himself to you.
There was no one who could be as "perfect" as you.
"Hey! Hey!" You squeak, feeling Tim's cold hands touch your cheeks. Squeezing them together to make a fish-face, leaning in to give you a small peck.
-
Damien Al Ghul/Wayne:
Straight up opposite of Tim.
Damien pushes your button's, wanting to see if you had the guts to kill for him.
Not believing that you were worthy enough for him.
He is a Al Ghul.
A Wayne.
Yan S/O thinks saying a heartful declaration of love will sway his heart. Not even a little.
You have to be persistent for Damiens attention, clingy but not to the point of becoming a annoyance and a bother.
Hell, maybe even uncaring. Giving up on the chase, which pisses Damien off.
Weren't you the one that wanted to be with him!?
Yan S/O acts like loving him was a phase. Which upsets him even more, he acts like it's not bothering him.
He starts missing your presence, whether if you were happy or timid around him.
"You already stuck around this long, might as well reward your efforts." Damien scowls, opening his hand out for you to take. A big smile breaks onto your face, which makes Damien freeze.
You won.
-
[Hope you enjoyed! Everythings appreciated!]

I’d absolutely adore to see some lovesick Wally :] maybe a specific scenario of our beloved reader has had to be out of town for a little while? Maybe a few weeks? Likely sent letters in their time away, but letters don’t tend to compare to being in person!! And now, they’re back in town, or something :]
Could have a pre-established relationship or not!! I don’t mind either :]
Have a lovely day!
| ooh I love this idea! and you have a lovely day as well<3 |
- you had to leave the neighborhood to go visit a few relatives a few hours away and sadly wally couldn't go because he was busy as well but was clearly distressed by you having to leave even if he hid it well to others besides you.
- the last kiss you gave him almost made him upset because he knew that was the last kiss he was going to have for a few weeks which only made him upset even more. (funny enough home was even upset with you not being there , wally having to explain you won't be back for a bit which made home squeak one of the one of the doors in a sad sort of squeak if that makes sense-)
- despite the fact you sent him letters about your day and even took pictures to send to him he'd just stare at the photos WISHING he had been able to go on that trip with you.
- every letter was kept in his drawer so he could read them over and over again. he does this plenty of times before laying down for the night only stare at your side of the bed that's empty. he just sticks with having conversations with home for the next few weeks.
- as soon as you were back home and settled in he was the first one to greet you and suddenly tackle you right into a hug. with a laugh you held him close , “ wally! ” you laughed as he nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck.
- “ please don't ever leave me again dearest , pretty please.. ” if he could cry he could but all he wanted was you to hold him close which you did. “ oh wally I'm sorry.. I'll take you next time , okay? I promise you. ” you said softly as you pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead as you stepped inside your home to just hold him and tell him about your trip.

May I please have a Wally with a reader that is somehow sentient and aware with knowing they've somehow got stuck in this tv show and are heavely aware Wally has something to do with it?
So they're extra closed up about themselves, stay home a lot to avoid the puppets in overly social gathering (like they can handle two or three of them but not all at once as it's too overwhelming with happy shizzles and stuff), yet that doesn't mean they don't talk at all to them. They don't keep their mouth shut either when something's bothering them, like when they get annoyed when Wally stares too long at them and makes a comment about it or genuinely admit they dislike Home with how disturbing it seems to them.
Wally somehow doesn't mind as he's genuinely interested in them and wants to become their friend as best as possible, not for any reason with manipulation, just pure friendly business. But as the reader knows he's the main star of the show they're forced to play in, they know the camera follows him almost always, thus they avoid him like the plague which causes a cat and mouse play between you two. Wally trying to get closer to you with perhaps making paintings and gifts for you while you just casually dip out of there while somehow looking like you don't hate him.
(It would be even funnier if you somehow became the second favorite character of the show as you stand out a lot with your attitude and being the only human being there, perhaps even attracting teens to watch the show with your remarks at the puppets for a certain someone not even having a nose or eyebrows and your monotone voice singing and having no energy with dancing once you somehow get stuck in a song sequence with the others (kind of like red guy from dhmis)
Funny thing is, sadly for Wally, is that you get along well with Frank and Eddie as they're the more calm ones, Eddie still joyfull a lot, but more calmer than Julie and Howdy perhaps are.
So there's Wally, staring with the most confused and slight jealous eyes as he watches you joke around and actually smile with the duo/couple(?) while you always give him a frown that's somehow even deeper than Franks.
Sorry for the slight ramble and long explanation (I'm a fanfic writer myself), just wanted to give a summary of how I see it and wondering how you'd think this would work out.
Btw, reader doesn't hate Wally, they're just warry and uncomfortable with his stares and Home in general, and with the knowledge that's he's one of the reasons they're stuck here. They soften up to him a little eventually, like letting him hug them shortly or talking more casual with him, but no way he ever sees them entering his house.
This was so long I'm so sorry.
Anyway, have a great day/night!
Oh don't worry I think this is a great idea! I like how fleshed-out it is!
...........
You have only spent a week in the neighborhood...before realizing something was terribly, terribly wrong with the world surrounding you.
At first, this place seemed like nothing but sunshine and rainbows--full of fun, joy, color, and friendship. A place that one could only dream of living in all their life, free of worry or strife.
It felt comforting and safe, so when you started having these weird feelings that not everything was as it seemed..you figured you were just nervous about settling into a new place.
But when the folks here asked where you were from, you'd end up drawing a blank...starting to question where you really did come from. So you'd simply tell them you're just "out of town" and leave it at that, although you always sounded uncertain about it.
And there's something else that was especially peculiar: every activity the neighbors did almost always stopped at the end of the day. It seemed strange to you since there's plenty of things you could do. Like campfires or stargazing!
So one evening, you asked all of your neighbors why they rarely hung out during the night, and they had relatively normal responses: Eddie says it's tricky to deliver mail at nighttime; Howdy was too tired from working at the bugdega all day; Barnaby and Sally had to plan their next stunts, tricks, and plays; Julie and Frank wanted to get their "beauty sleep"; and Poppy needed to take care of things back at the barn.
All seemed to be perfectly reasonable answers...
Until you got to Wally.
He looked as though he was ready to respond...only to fall quiet and stare off into space, as though he was in another world. But the fact that his pupils seemed to dilate gave you the chills for some reason, and you calmly tried snapping him out of his trance.
Then he did, and quietly said something about Home "disliking" it whenever he stays out too late. And he bid you goodnight before leaving.
That exchange was the moment you realized something was very off about him beyond his staring habits. It's like he didn't know exactly what to say.
As if...it's such an unusual question for him, but normal to you.
And out of nowhere, the truth hit you like a truck:
This whole place was just one big TV show, with all of you trapped inside as the unwitting stars who were meant to follow certain "scripts" during your daily interactions.
You don't know how or why you knew that, but it became clearer when you constantly got the feeling that your movements were being watched.
You could sense eyes on you even when you were alone.
And sometimes you'd hear indistinguishable voices of adults and children alike while you slept, unable to discern whether they were merely in your dream or existed in reality. It must have been the former, considering none of the other neighbors said they heard anything.
To you, these people...these "viewers", sounded like they were in a faraway land--an unreachable place where you couldn't call out to them for answers no matter how hard you tried.
You knew nothing about them, but they knew everything about you.
Your character had become so fascinating to them from the moment you arrived in the humble neighborhood. You've actually become the second favorite almost instantly, given the uniqueness you've brought to the colorful cast as a human merely wearing an average-sized costume.
They've observed that your personality makes you relatable to young teens, attracting them to the show. Many of them got some chuckles out of your dry and semi-self aware humor (in that you'd joke about how Wally's missing his eyebrows and nose when everybody else has them). It was an immediate hit.
Even when you got pulled into some silly musical number with the rest of the gang, you just spoke in monotone and put lackluster energy into dancing when the camera panned over to you--much to the dismay of your "neighbors".
The viewers just couldn't get enough of you. They adored you.
And they can't stop watching.
You, on the other hand, weren't aware that you were so popular...and quite frankly, you didn't want to be. It terrified you.
So for a while, to protect your own sanity, you began attending less and less social events, not wanting to overwhelm yourself. You've declined invitations to Sally's and Barnaby's shows, which made you feel kinda bad..but you were just so fearful of everything at the time.
Were any of them aware of their circumstances, too?
You had no idea, and it would probably make you sound like a crazy person if you told them how you really felt.
The only other person to show any sort of "deviance" was...Wally himself.
You didn't know why, but you felt like he had something to do with the situation you're in. Especially given his odd response to you that evening and the fact that...he just apparently loved to stare so much, watching you just like the audience did.
It didn't help that whenever you talked to him or he tried approaching you, you got the chilling feeling that you were being perceived by the audience--as if somebody was holding a camera over your shoulder, wanting to capture every moment the "main character" spent with you.
You'd prefer to spend as little time in the spotlight as possible.
However, being anxious about this world didn't mean you weren't a bit mouthy towards other things you disliked. You were known for being blunt and sometimes a "realist", shrugging of whatever crocodile tears the others may give you just for the crime of being honest and true to yourself.
So yes...you'd always call out Wally if he was staring at you for a prolonged period of time, or if he tried persuading you to say hello to Home if you happened to pass by the sentient house.
Your response? Straight up "no thank you, it creeps me out and I don't like how its window-eye things are looking at me."
The audience may laugh, but it's the truth.
That building scares you.
Despite all of this, though...Wally didn't seem to bothered by it. He likened your sarcastic quips to Frank's, so that was never an issue with him. If anything, he was genuinely trying to help you feel right at home in the neighborhood, hoping to become a friend you could trust and rely on if you needed anything.
It'll just take you a bit more time to adjust, and that's alright!
Sure, maybe his stares were strange to you and Home was well...Home. He understood why those things might seem scary to a new neighbor.
But then again, that's how everybody else acted when he first met them, and now they were all good friends!
He's sure you'll fit right in and find true happiness here. So he made it his mission to befriend you without coming on too strongly, inviting you to quiet picnics and painting lessons, calling you on the phone, and even showing up at your doorstep with gifts.
He even made sure to tell his neighbors to give you space, though he was really hoping you'd stop being afraid of him the longer you spent around him alone.
But while you accepted his presents and showed up to his invites...you just couldn't let your guard down around him. You never looked happy or relaxed, and didn't stay long, usually cutting your time together short under the guise that you forgot to do something important and had to leave now.
Your latest excuse was that you forgot to "walk your fish" even though you owned no such pet. You were a terrible liar, but Wally believed you anyways.
He was a patient man, so he'll wait how ever long it took to befriend you.
...........
"Alright, Home..today I'm gonna gift [y/n] my finest work thus far! Do you think they'll like it?"
Pausing, Wally listened for the creaks of approval and squeaks of reassurances, smiling when he heard them, although Home noted something else.
"Haha..you're right. Silly me. It needs more time to dry..or else the paint will just smudge and make it a not-so-nice gift. Sorry, I'm just excited, is all.." He chuckled awkwardly.
After setting the canvas back on the easel, he wandered over to the window and peered outside, humming a small tune to himself as he rested his arms on the sill.
It took him all day and all night to paint the perfect picture of your favorite animal---which he learned about from an off-handed comment you made a few days ago. His memory was sharp, remembering all the details about the creature, and he believed you'll love what he created as a result!
Surely now you'll see that he's not all that bad. Otherwise he'd be lost on how to convince you.
However, he noticed a rather...surprising sight from across the street, one that even Home had to confirm was happening so he didn't think he was going crazy.
You were actually out and about, having a casual chat with Frank, asking how he got together with Eddie before bumping into said mailman on the sidewalk.
Wally couldn't make out what any of you three were discussing, but Eddie must have said something humorous, as it made Frank groan and hide his blushing face. And you just chuckled and shook your head, patting the latter's back sympathetically.
He felt his heart sink.
You were talking to the couple--joking around, smiling, and genuinely enjoying their company. As if you've known them all your life.
Yet anytime he's even near you in any capacity, he's met with frowns deeper than Frank's and constant excuses to get away from him. Like he was some kind of pest or scary monster.
He didn't understand what he was doing wrong.
Of course, he's happy you're getting along with some of the neighbors, no longer being so shut-in...but it hurt to know he's still stuck struggling, literally begging you to be his friend.
*creaaaak?*
"..no, Home. I'm not jealous. What gives you that idea?"
*...creeak.."
Swallowing the lump in his throat, Wally looked back at the easel, sighing. Part of him wanted to just throw the whole canvas out the window, but....he shook off the feeling, forcing a smile.
He wanted you to have it, even if you didn't like him that much.
So when he saw you finally parting ways with Eddie and Frank, he decided to head over to your house about an hour later, assuming you were gonna be there and needed to recharge from socializing.
He put on his best cardigan and made sure his hair was neat before heading out the door with the small canvas tucked under his arm, covered by a protective sheet. He wouldn't wanna spoil the surprise for you, after all..even if you anticipated it being yet another painting.
For some reason, the sky was grayer than usual today..meaning it's probably gonna rain on his parade.
But he didn't let that deter him.
After arriving to your house, he knocked three times, in a certain rhythm that you've distinctively recognized as him being at the door.
But he was surprised when you opened it right away. "Oh heya, Wally. What's up?"
"Ohh nothing much, neighbor." He chuckled. "May I..come in? I promise I won't stay long-"
"It's cool. It looks like it's gonna rain anyways. Wouldn't wanna ruin your "beautiful" hair now, huh?" With a coy smirk, you let him come inside the house, shutting the door behind you as you turned around to see what be brought you this time.
He looked shocked, almost, standing there like a fish out of water. You invited him in without hesitation...though he tried not getting his hopes up too high.
You're just trying to be polite. In a few minutes you're gonna kick him out for some silly reason.
Shifting your gaze away from his uncomfortable stare, you looked at the painting in his hands, tilting your head. "I guess that's for me.."
Nodding, Wally handed you the canvas, watching you remove the small sheet to see it was a painting of your favorite animal. Your eyes lit up, impressed by the amount of details that went into this one, before looking back up at him. "Wow, man..this is....awesome. How long did it take you?"
"Not very long!" He suddenly chirped, hands clasped together with excitement. "I just hope it fits nicely in your collection! A-Assuming....you...have one...that is..."
Bit by bit, his words began to fall flat with uncertainty, before he completely dropped the act, shoulders slumped.
Why did he bother trying anymore? What was the point?
You noticed his odd mood shift. "Wally? What's wrong?"
"..nothing, neighbor.." Sighing, he hung his head low, a cloud of doom and gloom manifesting over him as he shuffled towards the door. He felt like going back to Home and curling up in a corner somewhere. "I'll...see you later-"
"Wait."
"...hm?"
He stopped and looked over his shoulder, still feeling quite depressed but willing to listen to whatever you wanted to say.
You set the painting on a nearby table, approaching him with your heart constrained with guilt. "Look, Wally..I know you think I hate you or something, but...that's not true."
"It...isn't?" He blinked.
"I'm sorry if I gave you that impression. There's just been...a lot of my mind lately. Things I can't really talk about just yet..I-I don't know. It's hard to explain. But the point is...I really do wanna be your friend. I guess I'm just...a very "guarded" person if that makes sense."
Although Wally was staring at you yet again, you didn't break eye contact, wanting him to know you're being genuine here. "I don't open up easy, but I know you've...helped me a lot, and I appreciate that. I do keep your paintings and I do feel bad for being a jerk to you sometimes. So...think you can forgive me? I'll even allow this if you want."
When he saw you open your arms up to him, he was frozen for a few long moments, astonishment written all over his face.
He just...didn't know what to say. Not only did you actually like his company, but....
He was allowed to hug you??
"..c'mon, pal. My arms are kinda getting tired." You awkwardly smiled, although you blinked as he suddenly latched onto you, letting out a few sniffles.
He wanted to sob so badly, but knew that wouldn't be very "neighborly" of him.
Yet you heard how he sounded, and felt guilty for treating him as some bad guy...when really he didn't seem malicious at all. You wanted to believe he had good intentions.
Whether or not he also knew the truth behind this place...that didn't matter right now.
He just wanted to be your friend.
You'll never be happy if you kept being so afraid of him all the time. That wasn't any life to live, even if you're unsure of whether this was your only life or not.
But you let him hug you anyways, patting his back.
"Th-This is very nice of you, neighbor. I forgive you." He mumbled, cheek squished against your shoulder as he clung to you tightly, never wanting to let go-
"Thanks......okay, you can let go now."
"..o-oh! Right, sorry." Reluctantly, Wally let you go, rubbing his eyes before dusting off his cardigan, breathing a sigh of relief. "Whew! I'm glad we're on better terms now. But...if I may ask..what changed?"
"Ah, well..I was talking with Frank and Eddie earlier..and I asked them about you."
"Huh....?" He pointed to himself, raising an invisible eyebrow. "Me..?"
"Yeah. Since they're more chill than most of the people here, I feel like I can be myself around them." You explained. "Howdy and Julie are kinda too loud for me, so...yeah. Those guys pushed me to reach out to you and try to make this friendship work...instead of the other way around."
'So...that's what they were talking about..' He realized, though he beamed anyways, happy you took their advice.
"Well that's great! I think we'll become great friends, [y/n]!" Smiling, he offered his hand to you, and you shook it as a way of saying you're both willing to start over.
"I..think so, too, Wally." You smiled back, feeling this huge weight being lifted off your shoulders.
"So...do you wanna come visit Home when the weather clears?"
"...I'll pass. But I'll wave to 'em from afar if that's okay."
"It's fine by me, neighbor."
