Read the Gold Seer trilogy by Rae Carson. Random thoughts with spoilers below.

- loved the titles, and how they corresponded to various hymns

-very cool idea of someone who can sense gold during the gold rush

- Lee was very likable to me. She had a very distinct voice, like I could literally almost hear her while I was reading.

- Loved her relationship with Jefferson, it was definitely a partnership type of relationship with mutual respect and minimal drama.

-other fave relationship was the friendship that grew between her and Mrs. Joyner.

-the uncle creeped me out so much whenever he interacted with Lee, so great villain. I was honestly a bit relieved when he revealed he believed (though never confirmed whether true or not) that he was her father cause I was starting to get worried things were going to go in a different direction with the whole "wear your mother's dress" thing. Very glad it did not.

-honestly wasn't sure where the story was gonna go after book 2. I felt like loose ends were basically tied, and that there didn't have to be another book. Book 3 was definitely a genre shift (low magic historical fantasy to basically a heist plot). It was enjoyable, but did not feel as strong as the others. Honestly, the series could've been a duology and been fine.

-i did notice that each of the college men got to take turns being a big character (the doctor in the first book, the lawyer in the second, the poet in the third) and then basically sat out the other books. Not a bad strategy, but they would've been condensed to only two characters in any sort of adaption. No criticism, just noticeable.

Eddie Munson is a puppy type boyfriend. For example he:

-Gets super excited to see you when you reunite after not being together for a while. When you come over to the trailer he’s waiting at the door to smother you in kisses when you walk in

-Gets needy and will interrupt whatever you’re doing so you’ll give him attention

-Needs proper stimulation to get his energy out. If he spends all day sitting around doing nothing he’ll start going mental.

-Likes to show off random things he finds. Like you’ll be at the park and he’ll find a cool stick and happily bring it to you with a proud look on his face.

-Snaps at people he doesn’t like, especially when they get to close to you.

-Loves to snuggle up to you on the couch and doze off

-Is just generally energetic, loyal and affectionate.
