Casey Jones Fucking Dies: Chapter 5
here it is, after like, 3 days, 2,755 words of raph going through it, leo's kind of a jerk in this one, but yeah, please enjoy, so sorry for postponing it and making it so long
What April said resonated in Raph's mind for the next few days. What did she mean off? And what did she mean his 'vibe'? Do the rest of the guys think he's being weird? Wait, duh, of course they do, they told April that. He pondered all these thoughts while lying down on his bed, legs dangling off the edge.
In their defense, he had been acting weird. All this weird stuff, the white fog in the sewer, his sai constantly going missing, his stuff getting knocked over, the face in the mirror, all of it. It'd been bizarre for him, so he could only imagine how it looked to his brothers and April. Considering that Mikey didn't seem to react to the white fog in the sewer tunnel, he probably didn't see anything, so whatever was wrong had something to do with Raph.
Why was all this happening to him; was it some kind of elaborate prank by his brothers? Maybe god is punishing me for what I did he jokingly thought to himself. Or maybe it's a ghoooooooost.
"Hehe..." he chuckled. Wait. Wait hang on. That's it. What if that's it? What if this whole thing, with the nightmares and restless nights, the cold gusts of winds, and that haunting face in the mirror. Raph felt his brow furrow as he delved deeper into his thoughts. If he was really being haunted, then by who? Or by what?
"Uhhhhhh, dude?"
Raph launched up from his comfortable position on his bed, turning to see who was in the door. Mikey. it was just Mikey. Raph was so deep in his thought that he didn't even hear Mikey walk in.
"You okay?" Mikey asked, swinging his arms back and forth and teetering on his feet. "You seemed like, way spaced out."
"Uh- Of course I'm okay!" Raph lashed out, getting off his bed and placing his hands on his hips(?). How long had Mikey been standing there, watching him?
"If you say so bro. Anyways, pizza's here." Mikey mentioned walking away into the living room. Raph retired his arms to his side. He waited a few moments before following Mikey into the living room. As he turned the corner from his doorway to the conversation pit, he took a moment to dive back into his previous thoughts.
Haunted? That's dumb. Like, Mikey level dumb. There's no way he was being haunted. It's not like ghosts are real. That's stupid.
                _______________________
"Hello my sons." Master Splinter greeted, walking from the kitchen to the living room with a cup of tea in hand.
"Hi Sensei!" the turtles collectively saluted, turning their attention from the TV to their father.
"Would any of you like to join me for meditation in the dojo?" Splinter suggested.
"Of course Sensei!" Leo perked up. Mikey and Donnie both respectfully declined, leaving Raph to choose. You know what, with all the weird stuff that had been happening to him recently, he could probably use some meditation.
"Ya know what, sure." Raph answered, getting up and turning to walk towards the dojo. After realizing the room had fell silent with the exception of the TV, Raph turned to face his brothers. His brothers were all staring at him with blank faces, eyes wide.
"What?" Raph snarled.
"You're choosing to meditate? Because you want to?" Leo questioned. Now that Raph thought about it, him choosing to meditate over watching cartoons was extremely out of character; to say nothing of everything else that had happened after Casey Jones's death.
"Raphael may meditate with us if he wishes to do so." Splinter interjected, ending the conversation. And with that, the two turtles and their father walked into the dojo to start meditating.
About half an hour later, all three had slipped deep into their meditative state. Raph felt his mind clear, it felt nice with all that had been happening to him the past two months. His mind began to flood with those thoughts. His thought process tracked back to the white haze with the green glow in the sewer tunnel. And with that, his brain traced its way back to the face in the mirror. The image flashed in his mind. The pale, skull like face framed by what looked like oil, or grease. Something dark and dripping like that. Except this time, the image stuck im his brain for longer than usual. Like it was staring at him.
Raph felt his breath grow faster, and faster. The face distorted, twisting into a mask of rage. And just like that, the face disappeared again. Raph heard a far away whisper, but he couldn't quite understand it. A few seconds passed and he heard it again, but still couldn't understand it. A few seconds passed and his mind cleared again. He attempted to calm his breathing. He let his shoulders fall and his jaw unclench, not even knowing he had tensed up in the first place.
A few more seconds passed and by then Raph had returned to his blissful meditative state. But then there came a thought. Or, a vision? There was more whispering, and something was getting closer to him, rapidly.
"You left me to BLEED!" screamed a voice, accompanied by the flashing image of the face from the mirror!
"AAAH!" Raph yelped, finally opening his eyes and jumping back. It wasn't until he felt a hand on his shoulder did he realized he was back in the dojo.
"Raphael! are you alright my son?" the tall rat asked, readjusting his hand on the turtle's shoulder. Raph glanced behind his father to see Leo was standing just behind him, his brow furrowed, showing his concern.
"I- yeah I'm fine. I'm okay." Raph lied, turning his eyes back to his father, trying to steady his voice. The image of the face flashed in his mind again, making him wince a bit.
"Are you sure?" Splinter inquired, strengthening his grip on his son's shoulder.
"Hai Sensei." Raph assured, deciding it was time for him to leave. He wiggled out of his father's grip and made his way to the door. The second he was out of the dojo he made a beeline to his room. He thought he heard Donnie ask him what happened but he didn't care. When he reached his room, he slammed the door behind him and leaned his shell against it. He let himself sink down to the floor, curl up, and cry. Like he did all those nights ago. He sat in front of his door and cried.
                _______________________
Two days passed and things were seemingly back to normal. When Leo asked Raph about what happened in the dojo, he simply lied and said he saw a really big roach. He could tell his brother wasn't satisfied, but he didn't really care. All he could really think about for long periods of time was what did happen in the dojo? It was becoming clear to Raph that whatever was happening was probably more than a hallucinations or his imagination. This was real.
Maybe he was being haunted. Maybe it was a ghost. April said his 'vibe' was off, maybe it was the ghost she was sensing. That still leaves the question of who's haunting him. Raph had a solid guess about who he was being haunted by, but he didn't like the idea that he was being haunted by the guy he had killed; which raph still had a problem coming to terms with. He still didn't know how he was ever going to tell his brothers.
But nevertheless, he had to keep up with his duties as a ninja, haunting or no haunting. His brothers were patrolling the city, hopping from roof to roof. It had recently rained, making the terrain a little slippery. Of course this was no problem for the group of ninja. They gracefully leaped from an apartment complex to an abandoned warehouse. There was a glowing purple light coming through the window, which typically meant the Kraang.
"Ok team," Leonardo started, peering through the roof light, "I say we go for a stealth attack. They don't seem to be too alert on the left side of the building so I recommend we sneak through there." A collective affirmative grunt came from the of the team. They began to walk over to the left side of the building, where they then snuck through an air duct.
"BOOYAHKASHA!" Mikey yelled, as he fell out of the air duct, landing on a kraang-droid. "Aw yeah dawg, the turtles are in the house!" The rest of the turtles landed beside him in battle position.
"It is the ones who are called the turtles!" one of the Kraang-droids reported.
"The ones who are called the turtles are not meant to be in the place known as this place!" a second one stated.
The four turtles all ran off in different directions, each taking on a dozen kraang-droids. Leo dug his swords into the chest of a Kraang-droid before using them to lift it up and throw it at a few other Kraang, knocking out at least four. Donatello twirled his bow staff around him knocking out any Kraang before any of them could reach him. His defense came to a halt when one of the Kraang jumped onto the end of his bo staff and crawled towards him.
Meanwhile Raph was stabbing Kraang-droids left and right. One came up behind him but before the bot could land the attack, Raph whipped around and kicked it to the ground. With the Kraang-droid on the ground, Raph raised his sai up to prepare for an attack and-
Wait. This wasn't right. Oh no. This was- This was just like that night.
While Raph was deep in his thoughts, the Kraang-bot took the chance to shoot its laser gun at Raph, and right in the middle of his shell too. This sent Raph flying back, making him crash into a pile of crates. He groaned in pain.
"Raph! Mikey, Donnie, retreat! Raph's down!" Leo commanded. Mikey and Leo rushed over to Raph and lifted him up, each of them slinging one of Raph's arms over their shoulders while Donnie twirled his bo staff to prevent any more lasers from hitting them. Leo and Mikey guided Raph down a corridor that led to an exit, with Donnie short behind. By then the Kraang had stopped trailing them.
Leo and Mikey gently sent Raph down on the pavement of the dark alleyway they were now in. "Raph! Raph are you okay?" Leo worried, checking to see if Raph was bleeding or had any cracks in his plastron.
"Ugh, I'm fine, Lame-o-nardo." Raph snapped back, pushing Leo's hand away from his plastron. He hated the look on his brothers' faces; they looked at him with fear and what seemed like pity on their faces. Yeah, well Raph didn't need their pity.
"Lame-o-nardo!?" Leo yelled, "In case you didn't notice, I just saved your life because you messed up!" Raph hated how Leo was right. He wanted to yell at Leo and nitpick every mistake Leo had ever made, but he didn't have the energy to fight.
"Whatever, let's just go home." Raph growled through gritted teeth. Lifting himself up, shooing his brother's hand away, to show he could stand without help. And with that, all four turtles disappeared into the sewers of New York, and began to make their way home.
                _______________________
The walk home was relatively normal, aside from the uncomfortable silence. Even mikey was quiet. Raph walked behind the rest of his brothers, staring down at his feet as he walked. He watched his footsteps send ripples through the sewer water. He glanced up to try and see Leo, who was leading, but his two younger brothers blocked his line if sight. He turned his head back down to face the puddle he had just stepped in.
Oh no.
As raph stared into the puddle, he was met with another face staring back at him. The very same face that he'd seen before in the mirror. The very face he'd seen while meditating. And now it was here again. The skull-ish face staring back at him with blank eyes, still with what looked like oil covering its face. Raph felt his entire body freeze as the image in the puddle sent shivers up his spine. His breathing increased and grew heavy. The face remained monotone, with the exception which squinted at Raph.
And after what felt like hours but was really only a few seconds, Raph reclaimed his voice and much like he had two days ago in the dojo, jumped back and let out a scream of terror. The rest of the turtles whipped around in response to Raph's scream, but Raph kept his eyes locked on the puddle. After a few blinks, the face disappeared, and it was at this point that Raph lifted his head up to meet Leo's gaze. The turtle masked in blue was glaring at him, and gritted his teeth before lashing out.
"What is your problem, Raph!?" he yelled. "You've been acting weird for months!? Is there something you aren't telling us!?" Leo continued to glare at Raph.
Raph remained silent, simply staring back at Leo. His thoughts were scrambled. they were like fog, unable to grasp, simply floating around, leaving Raph unable to piece together a sentence.
"GODAMMIT RAPH!" What is with you?" Leo screamed, wishing his brother would talk to him for once.
"Leo-"
"Not now Donnie!" Leo scolded. "Listen Raph, if you can't talk to us, if you can't take missions seriously, then you can't be on the team anymore." the turtle threatened.
"...What?" Raph finally spoke.
"You heard me. Keep acting weird and messing up missions, and you're off the team." Leo reprimanded.
"Leo, dude-" Mikey whispered.
"Mikey." Leo warned, shutting down the conversation. He turned to continue walking, followed shortly by Mikey and Donnie, and eventually Raph. The rest of walk home was silent; Mikey and Donnie didn't want to risk ticking off Leo more, and Raph was deep in his thoughts.
He was once again thinking about the haunting face. The one from the mirror, and his meditative vision, and now the one he had seen staring back at him from the water. Upon having seen him a third time, Raph realized where he'd seen the skull pattern before. His mind turned back to roughly two months ago, in the streets of suburban downtown New York. The fight with Casey Jones, Casey Jones who had been wearing a skull mask.
This connection left Raph knowing he had a question to ask April.
                 _______________________
"Hey April? Can I ask you a question?" Raph was standing behind April, who was sitting in the conversation pit, doing something on her computer. She turned to face him with a blank look on her face.
"Uh, sure. What's up?" she permitted, putting her laptop at half-mass.
"Um, it's about that Casey guy, you said he was your friend." Raph clarified.
"Oh, uh, yeah. What about him?" she responded, trying to mask the sorrow in her voice.
"I was uh- I was wondering what he looked like." Raph muttered. April stared at Raph for a while, looking tired despite having been full of energy just a moment ago. She sat her laptop aside and brought her legs up to her chest.
April pulled out her phone and opened an app, though Raph couldn't see which one. "Here." she mumbled, passing her phone to Raph. He took the phone from her and turned his eyes to the screen. It was a picture. A selfie. April was in the lower right corner, giving a toothy smile. In the top left corner was...
It was a teenager, about April's age. He also gave a toothy smile, though he seemed to be missing his two front teeth. He had dark brown eyes. He had a bandanna tied around his forehead, securing his hair. His hair which was a dark black and very greasy. It framed his face in a very familiar way.
"That Casey?" Raph asked April. She only responded with a silent nod of her head.
This just about confirmed it. The night of his death lining up with the beginning of the weird occurrences. The skull faced mask. The possible grudge against Raph. And now the black hair. Maybe it wasn't oil or tar that framed the apparition's face, but instead it was hair.
And that was it.
Raphael was being haunted by Casey Jones.

Ha! You’ve fallen into my trap!! Get asked way too many questions, idiot!!!
BDFHKLMPRWX
(feel free to be selective of course)
B: Not whole stories, but elements from it! For example, in Mama Bear, Julia’s living room is partially modeled after mine!
D: I have. So many. For Inverted Confrontation, Confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde the musical! Made me think of Hyde’s whole character.
F: “Finally, something we can agree on. I’m sick and tired of you coming into my lab! I hate having to pretend like your dumb ideas matter.” Donnie crosses his arms.
“N-No….D-Donnie….h-he likes my ideas! Th-This isn’t him….it can’t be….” Mikey whimpers.
“You guys are being too hard on him.” Leo interjects.
Mikey looks up at him hopefully.
“Why even bother saying what’s wrong with him? He can’t change, he won’t change. Dr. Toxic Positivity only cares if someone’s upset so he can make them feel bad about it.”
“T-Toxic….? No! Please! I just want to help! I can do better! I-I can make this better!”
“You can’t cook breakfast, you can’t draw, you can’t skateboard, you can’t do anything that would make you useful enough for us to put up with you.”
“My arms will heal! They’ll-!” Mikey looks down in horror as he sees the golden cracks on his arms.
“No no no! This isn’t happening!”
The other three turn their backs to him.
“This family is a joke. Good luck surviving without me around.” Raph starts walking off.
“No! Wait! Don’t go!”
“Try not to fall into a sewer hole chasing after a pigeon with pizza.” Donnie hisses, going another direction.
“Please! Stay!”
“You can’t keep yourself together, let alone the family. Being in the prison dimension is better than being here.” Leo comments, walking away from the rest as well.
Love this because the toxic positivity line SENDS ME. I made this so mean and for what reason??
H: It’s hard for me personally to describe it I think?? Lots of dialogue, big speeches, humor, and short action and descriptions I think!
K: No doubt future Leo having his arm sawed off after his healing factor is gone.
L: Depends on how much trouble it’s giving me! Sometimes five times, sometimes none.
M: My separated Leo AU where he’s a vigilante to promote his action movie please anyone ask about this it’s in my head so much-
P: GARDENER I only plan a few things I want to happen and then audience effects chapters and I just get ideas as I write.
R: @daboyau feeds me evil ideas and I listen lol
W: I actually like specific a lot! It gives me structure for the writing. Although I do do crazy things with general prompts.
X: I think we all know it’s Leo.

Yandere leo x reader pt.9 1/2 ⚠️warning⚠️(sexual attraction,swearing,abuse,18+)
Narrator: it was a peaceful night and you just came back with April and some pizza and when you first walk in you were greeted with a nice loving hug and kiss by your boyfriend Leo who was surprisingly more clingy than usual but you tried not to worry much about it. Sometime later your sitting on the couch with Leo watching some Jupiter Jim films eating pizza and all of sudden you get a call from one of your friends from school(male/female friend)and they ask if you wanted to come over and play video games just the two of you and you were really excited about it but when you told Leo about it he wasn’t really happy about it.
Reader: hey um Leo I’m going over to a friends house to play video games so I’ll be gone for a while if anyone is looking for me!
Leo: WAIT- uh I mean…can I come with you to just to make sure that you’re safe on your way there…hehehe
Reader: Leo sweaty I know you wanna come too and have fun and I’m thankful that you wanna come with me to make sure that I’m safe but you know your father’s rules no going nowhere near other humans unless it’s me or April plus you don’t know if they are scared of you and might expose you to all of New York I’m sorry Leo but that’s a risk that I’m not willing to take…i promise I’ll be back soon ok.
Narrator: you gave Leo a kiss before leaving and after you left something snapped in Leo to we’re he felt that you can never leave his side ever and that anyone who comes near you or tries to hurt you he must get rid of them…for GOOD. You were finally at your friends house and they already had snacks and the game set up for you guys and after like a few minutes into the game you noticed some neon yellow lights outside looking at you but you just thought it was your friends LED lights so when you told them about it you were confused and freaked out by their response.
Reader: hey…um (your friends name) are those your LED lights outside by the window their kinda freaky me out…
Friend: huh?…what are you talking about I don’t have LED lights…but now that you mentioned it their kinda freaking me out too…I’ll try calling my neighbor to see if it’s theirs…
Narrator: your friend called their neighbor to ask if the had led lights on they had a terrified look on their face when they got the answer.
Reader: w-what did they say?…is it their led lights on…
Friend: I-it’s not their led lights…they said they don’t even have led lights…
Narrator: both you and your friend were scared. You had the feeling that someone followed you all the way to your friends house and you didn’t have any thoughts of it until just then a flash of light went off from outside like someone just took a photo of you guys that’s when you decided that maybe it was time to leave and when you got back to the lair you told everyone what happened they all seemed so scared for you Donnie just thought someone was just really obsessed with you but a lot of things changed when you told Leo cause he really didn’t seem to bothered by the situation in fact he looked pretty happy about the whole situation and that led you to having a hole lot of thoughts in your head. That night you decided to fall asleep in Leo’s room because you wanted to feel safe but as soon as you were about to fall asleep you heard Leo mumbling something to himself.
Leo: so…these little friends are trying to take my darling away from me huh!?….well…I just have to make sure that doesn’t happen….EVER…
Narrator: after you heard what he said you felt like you wanted to curl up and cry but you couldn’t because he was right next to you and he would have known you were up listening to everything he had said…and you didn’t know what he would do if he found out you were listening to him so you just waited until he fell asleep before you fell asleep and you were just hoping that it was all a bad dream and that things would go back to normal….
Me: To Be Continued….

Married
“LEIA YOU’RE MARRIED?!”
The loud sound coming from Mikey, sitting in the lair’s kitchen, almost choking on his pizza
The other 3 brothers turned their heads to the duo so fast, disbelief what they’re hearing right now
Especially Raphael
“Mhmm! I’m planning to have kids soon” Leia took a slice and munching next to Mikey. (Leia always visit their lair when she’s on her off day)
“When did you get married?” “This week” “Nice!”
Leo, Raph & Donnie were so confused and couldn’t help but to join the conversation
“Whoah whoah hold it right there! Leia, why you never tell us you’re married?” Leo asked.
Leia took another bite, “I thought you guys didn’t care…”
Raph, who had his jaw dropped the whole time snapped, “Didn’t care?! Leia! How could ya! ‘Nd ya just turned 20 tis’ year too! Aren’t ya too young fo’ this?”
Leia shrugged. “I love him, Raph. He is adorable and very helpful. He is very sweet towards his grandparents too 🫶🏼”
Hearing this made Raph’s heart crushed and boiled in anger. Everyone in this lair knows he loves Leia but didn’t want to admit it. Never knew she would slipped away from him so soon. Never knew he was too late for her.
“Who did you choose again? Alex was it?” Leia nodded at Mikey’s question.
Donnie who had observing the whole scene finally spoke up. He swore he heard both of them talking about this ‘Alex’ guy every time the two playing a game, “You guys…” he sighed. “Is this the game you two always talking about? What was it? Sun view Valley?”
“Stardew Valley” Mikey corrected him, “and yes. We were talking about the game. What?? You all think Leia is married for real?? Hahahaha who wants her— OWW!” he whimpered after Leia pinched him.
Leo & Raph looking dumbfounded while Donnie just sigh 😔 “Leia, you knew we’re clueless yet you kept quiet about it huh?”
“Hehehe I like drama” Leia chuckled, making Donnie shook his head and ruffled her hair.
“W-wait! So it’s all just a game thingy?”
“That’s right, Raph. My character married a character, namely Alex, in game. Maybe I should go after Leah in my 2nd file” Leia answered taking another slice. “And I’ve been trying to woo Haley…..or Penny!” Mikey interrupted.
Raph sighed in relief and quickly coughed to compose himself. “For a second, I thought you finally married a man who accept yer ugliness”
He got thrown pizza crusts on his face
.
.
.
.
.
**BONUS**
“Do you think I’m ugly, Raphael?”
He shivered when the white-silvered hair girl, back facing him, asking him that question. Both of them decided to take an evening stroll on rooftops after having pizza. It’s their weekend routine; stroll after dinner. New York City always a beautiful sight to look at during night time.
“Uhm…” Raphael started, rubbing at the back of his neck, feeling guilty with his words. He sighed, “Ya know I didn’t meanit, Leia. It was a joke.”
He heard the girl letting out a sob. Panicking, he rushed towards her, “Hey hey! Leia— I… please don’t cry….yer a beautiful girl inside and out! ‘Nd if anybody says otherwise, then they’re gonna eat my sais”.
Leia turned facing him and gave a wink while stuck-out tongue at him, “Just kidding~ Aaawww i never knew you feel that way about me~ You should compliment me more, Raph.” Leia flipped her smooth hair before running away from Raphael.
The turtle in red stood in shock before chasing after his Leia.
“ARRRGGHH LEIAAA! COME BACK HERE!! YOU ARE SO GONNA GET IT!”

Ok so extra thoughts on mut mayhem after watching for the second time:
Aprils hair isnt entirely red and there's about two small locs that are actually black one is like there for basically the whole movie the other is mostly hidden by the other locs until near the end. Its possible this is a new version if the movie ...similar to all the 'patches' that went on w across the spidv but idk i think i just missed it while watching at the AMC
The boys get back from watching the movie in Brooklyn bridge park (? Idk where it is could be prospect, marine etc any park lol ) sometime after 2 am bc the clock in leos bunk says 2:22 or sometime similar ?
Ok now for actual more plot related kinda spoilery stuff
I paid attn n the first dude tht reaches out to splinter when he's hurt is Def Eastman. Wait .....lol i missed the line abt him needing a vet or a doctor? Weird idk if it was said by eastmans character or someone else. Ngl this watch felt like it wasnt as long ? But i chalked it up to this being my second viewing i don't think my theater was showing an abridged version n i probably just missed tht line organically
At the amc i totally missed that cynthia had fly in the jar? At the end and i forget tht she was surveiling the turtles? So its good to know that superfly isnt Gone gone but damn him being reduced to a housefly is pretty sad ....esp a housefly thts being held by TCRI.
Again in love the character design as an asymmetrical lady myself. I love cynthia Utroms design esp bc we Nvr see women tht look like tht in animated movies or tbh live action movies but like theres women tht look like tht
I love how basically any sign in a background cant be read bc its scribbles unless its plot relevant like the high school bulletin board...
I paid special attn to aprils pins n scooter + helmet stickers n yeah tht shit is inscrutable on purpose but bc i saw the concept i noticed
Tumblr media
The all power tothe people Sticker based on shape n color but nothing else specific.
Ok so april didn't Akira slide exactly but she kinda did ? While everyone is coming back from staten island n doing a cool walk april n her new tcri ride move sideways across the group pretty sure the bike/scooter/motorbike was sideways too idk .... Donnie akira slid w the pizza truck near the end. At the end wingnut was so happy tht donnie had an Akira boxset.
Also i was listening so hard to scutterbugs like three lines of 'dialogue' n like theres no way yall heard tht n thought alex hirsch like thats impossible im p sure if bauza did those 'lines' i wouldn't even know it was him n bauza has a much more distinctive voice

When you have time, can I request a Rise!Leo x human!female!reader (lol I just love him) where all of them came from a mission and from all the rising anger the reader was building, she accidentally hurts Mikey? How would they react? I know Mikey would be trying to calm everyone down, but since Leo being with the leadership and 2nd big bro, he takes it all out on the reader? Then he goes to apologize, but he finds something he didn’t wanted to see? Angst with a happy ending?.....but angst.
A/N: Kinda changed it from Mikey cause I know in my heart, I couldn't hurt that precious cinnamon roll. Song mentioned is Hey Heartbreaker by Dream Wife. Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had been sat in the lair for what felt like hours now, just waiting around with Splinter and April for the boys to arrive back from their mission. Usually, when they were late coming back you'd bid them a farewell before they left then walk back to your apartment before it got too dark. However, today you actually had made plans to hang out with Leo after the mission, although you made those plans under the assumption that he would be back at 6pm; it was 12am.
Worry had begun to consume you, making the anxieties and nerves shake your body. Your thoughts had drifted to the worse no matter how many times you begged yourself not to think so darkly, but what if? What if something had happened to them, to Leo?
Sure, you loved them all equally. But, there was just something about the newly-christened leader in blue that you couldn't get over. Maybe it was because you were arguably the closest pair, only rivalling Donnie and April. Or perhaps it was because his jokes would send you into fits of laughter, the way his hands sort out yours when you got distracted, his demand for you to always sit with him during movie nights.
Of course, he would say it's because you were the best of friends, but you always hoped that you would become more. In fact, the reason as to why you were so eager to see him tonight was because you had finally gained the courage to confess to him. Over the course of a few months and a long debate with April, you had finally come to the conclusion that this was the right time to finally say something. But you never took into consideration him going missing pryer to the confession taking place.
You were currently sat in the beanbag next to a passed out Splinter, April had given him some cake and milk a few hours ago so he would stop boasting about how great Lou Jitsu was. The tips of your nails were jagged as you continued to nibble on them out of nerves, April had been asking you occasionally if you wanted any food but the thought of eating something that was actually edible made you want to throw up.
"Ughh, where is he April?" you whined for the 15th time that night, April was sat on the opposite side of Splinter; the only sound you could hear were her irritated groans and her angry texting. You feared that she'd crack the screen if she tapped any harder, "For the last time (Y/N), I don't know!" she groaned out, slumping further into the beanbag. You felt bad for April, having to constantly put up with your insignificant whines and complaints for over 6 hours, you really needed to make it up to her after today.
"I feel like I'm going to go insane, Ap." your fingers began digging and tugging at the roots of your hair, eyes constantly flicking to your phone in case Leo sent you a message. April leaned out of the beanbag and took one long look at you, her sympathy outweighed her irritation. She crawled over to you and stayed in a crouched position, her hands were stretched out and resting on your legs for your support as much as her own.
"(Y/N), I get that you're worried about him, but they're going to be fine. Besides, you know the guys, they probably got distracted by some pigeon with a pizza or something." she mused, you let out a small laugh. You looked back up at April with a slight smile, "I know April, it's just...it's just- tonight was meant to be the night. I wanted it to be special, instead the guy I have a crush on is somewhere out in New York and not here with me."
April glanced down at the concrete floor quickly coming up with a plan to take your mind off of a certain red-eared slider. Jumping up, she pulled at your hands and tugged you into the kitchen, "C'mon (Y/N), we're baking some cookies!" The night had continued on, you and April sang and danced around the kitchen, accidentally throwing cookie batter all over the place. Using a fork as a microphone, you pulled April to your side and sang your heart out.
"I've seen you on the silver screen
And I've seen you in the daytime
I see you everywhere I go
And I see you in my dreams."
The oven dinged indicating that the cookies were done and if not removed soon would surely burn, along with the kitchen. April sauntered over with oven mitts framing her hands like boxing gloves, humming along she opened the doors and groaned when her glasses steamed over. You, meanwhile, were strutting around the kitchen singing into the fork as you pointed a finger over to April:
"Hey, heartbreaker
Hey, heartbreaker
Hey, heartbreaker
Yes, you, heartbreaker!"
April cackled as she watched you dance around, no care in the world. It had seemed that the fears and nerves from before had disappeared, only good vibes and fun; but even that ended sooner than either girl wanted it to.
"Honey, we're home!" yelled a voice, the sound reverberating throughout the lair. It echoed into the kitchen, alerting the two girls of their visitors, the sounds of cheering and muttering got closer and closer into the kitchen until all four turtles were illuminated by the dull lights. Your grip on the fork tightened when your eyes met Leo's, his face had a few scratches and cuts, but then again, so did his entire body; they all looked pretty messed up.
"Oooh, I smell cookies!" Mikey gleamed, making a head start for the piping hot tray, luckily April stopped him before he could burn himself. The room had felt pretty awkward, you hadn't said a word to any of the turtles since they had arrived, Leo could have sworn he heard you singing not just a minute ago. Your gaze hadn't dropped from Leo, in fact, it had gotten more aggressive as he continued to crack jokes in hopes of lightening the mood.
"Is, er, everything all right (Y/N)?" Raph asked, his tone laced with apprehension. You clicked your head into a slant, teeth bared as you smiled at them "Peachy keen." you squeaked out. The boys shared quick glances with each other before turning back to you again, Donnie saw the slight shake in your hand and the aggressive grip you had on the fork "Maybe you should put that down?" he insisted. You blanked him out, attention purely on the boy in blue who was giving you a worried look. Donnie nudged his older brother, shooting him a quick 'do something', before slipping away with the others.
Leo weakly smiled at you, only making the frown on your face more prominent, "Eh he, soooo." he chuckled, sweat starting to drip from his brow. You remained silent, not sure if you were going to ignore him all night, but thought you'd try your best for the time being.
"Are you just going to stand there and glare at me all night?"
Yep.
"(Y/N)? Hello? Great, so you're giving me the silent treatment, huh? Well, two can play at that game." he bragged, folding his arms over his chest and giving you the cold shoulder. You smirked at his childish behaviour, knowing damn well that you would be the victor of this short game. Just like clockwork, Leo turned back to you with a pout "Okay, I give, what did I do to deserve silence from such pretty lips~" now usually his compliments and flirting would leave you completely flustered, but tonight was different. Knowing what you know and how tonight was meant to go, his flirting rilled you up even more.
Leo's eyes quickly flickered to the fork in your hand, inching closer to you he reached out for it, "How 'bout I take this, huh?" before he could lay a hand on the utensil, you quickly jabbed the fork into his palm; hard. Leo flinched back with a loud yelp, his other hand going to rub away the pain the three-pronged utensil caused. "How can you say stuff like that when you clearly don't mean it!" you yelled out to him, hands on hips. His brows furrowed at you, his tone was sceptical "What are you talking about? Of course I mean it."
"If you meant it you would have been here at 6 like you promised me, tonight was meant to be special, Leo." you sobbed, your jacket sleeves wiping away tears as soon as they started falling. Damn it, you cursed to yourself, why now? Why not tomorrow? Leo frowned, guilt filling his heart "(Y/N), look I know I was late but can you blame me, I was out all night protecting New York-"
"From what Leo? The foot has been quiet for months so has Big Mama, so please tell me what was so important you had to miss this thing that I planned, hmm?" you interrogated him, taking a step closer and closer to him eventually cornering him against the kitchen counter. Leo looked away from you and mumbled out something, "What was that?" you questioned, getting closer to his face. Leo's eyes glistened in the light of the kitchen, his soul was there for the taking, "We- we...We were at this abandoned skate ramp all night." he moaned out.
You took a few steps back from him, eyes wide in shock and anger. You balled your fists, nose sniffling, "You- you left me to go skateboarding?" you seethed out. Suddenly, Leo got a bit defensive "So? Can't I go do that? What was so important about tonight anyway, I mean, if it was that important to you then you should have called me or something."
You were practically steaming from the ears at this point, face completely red with anger and frustration. Whipping your phone out from your jacket pocket, you thumbed through your contacts and went to your most recent messages. Shoving the phone out to him with a shaky hand, your voice dropped "I did message you, I called you over ten times and sent twice that many texts and you didn't reply to any of them."
"Oh," he deadpanned, rummaging around the small medical bag on his hip for his phone. Pulling the device into the light, the screen lit up with your name flashing across like a header, "(Y/N), I'm so so-"
"And do you want to know why tonight was so important?" Leo looked at you with pleading eyes, you sniffled again, casting your gaze to the floor. "Tonight I was going to confess how madly in love I am with you, that I couldn't stand just being best friends with you, that I wanted more. I thought- I- I thought you felt the same but I guess I was wrong." you whimpered out towards the end. You could feel your knees start to buckle as you stood in the silence of the kitchen, you couldn't even look at Leo anymore.
Opting to leave, you dashed out of the kitchen and grabbed your coat and umbrella. You had almost forgotten that when you first arrived at the lair it was pouring down with rain, the rest of the Hamato Clan watched as you sulked away, tear marks burnt onto your face. Leo had walked in a few moments after you had left, his eyes seemed empty, face emotionless. "Leo, what happened to ya hand?" Raph asked, worry in his eyes. Leo glanced at his hand not taking too much notice of the reddening skin, "I screwed up." he huffed out, falling to the floor face first.
Mikey sunk over to his brother, pulling the tails of his mask, he watched as Leo's face arose from the floor. "What happened?" he whispered, a warm smile gracing his lips, Leo sat up as everyone huddled around him; minus Splinter who was still past out on the recliner. Leo rubbed the back of his neck, eyes bouncing to each brother and April, "(Y/N), she- she had this special night planned for us and I blew it. I was meant to meet her here at 6 but- skateboarding, you know? God, I'm such an idiot."
"That can't be the whole reason?" Donnie probed, arms folded over his chest as he worked to analyse the situation. Leo squinted his eyes at his nerdy brother, "Are you implying that I'm hiding something?" he growled. Donnie shrugged his shoulders, pulling up notes he had made on his vembrace over the last few months "Well, it just seems a little dramatic for (Y/N) to stab you with a fork and storm out all because you missed a date-"
"It's not a date." Leo interjected, "Riiiight," Donnie carried out sarcastically, "There must be something more, did she say anything else?" April could see the way Leo seized up at Donnie's questioning, obviously, he didn't want to talk about it which was saying something since it's Leo, "How about we leave him alone for the night, guys? I'm sure Leo just needs some time to think about it, right?" Leo smiled up at April with a knowing look and shook his head "Right." he choked out.
Before April could leave, Leo grabbed her arm in desperation, forcing her to stand still. Checking that the coast was clear he spoke: "You knew didn't you?" April smiled at him as she tugged her arm back to her side, "Of course I knew, we've been talking about it for months, who do you think convinced her to finally tell you?"
"God, I'm so dumb!" Leo groaned, his palms digging into his eyes as he fell back onto the floor. April crouched down next to him, events repeating she mused to herself, "Hey man, don't beat yourself up about it. I know she likes you and I know sure as hell you like her, just go over there and apologise."
"And what if she doesn't forgive me?" Leo weakly asked, eyes peeking through his fingers. April let out a sigh, eyes wandering over to the entrance of the lair, "She might not, not yet at least; it'll take time. Just don't give up on her and she won't give up on you."
"Thanks, April."
"Anytime, Leo. Anytime."
Non-Imaginary Friend
Word count: 2445 words Fandom: TM.NT 2012 Relationship(s): Jay & Mikey (Platonic/Familial) A/N: Short little platonic fic with Mikey detailing how I met the turtles! ; w ; I used dreamily ai to help write it cause I wanted to test it out, so if it feels a little different from how I usually write that’s why! The ai was pretty good and offered more options than most writing ais I’ve seen
Mikey sat at the kitchen island with his brothers while they ate their usual dinner of pizza. Leo, Raph, and Donnie all chowed down on their slices of pepperoni pizza but Mikey was busy playing a video game and hadn't touched his food. While Mikey wasn't looking, Raph easily stole the slice from his plate that had grown cold. The three brothers had begun to take notice of Mikey's lack of appetite since he usually was the one who ate the most and his love of pizza was almost unmatched. It had been this way for a few weeks. Donnie, Raph, and Leo exchanged a silent glance when Mikey still hadn't noticed the stolen pizza slice. "Mikey, aren't you hungry?" Leo asked. "Nope! I ate already." Mikey replied. The younger turtle swayed around in his seat as he played his video game, sticking out his tongue in concentration. "Wait, did you get pizza when you were out without us?" Donnie questioned. Mikey looked away from his video game for a moment. "No. I went over to Jay's place and we had 'less-awn-ee-ah' for dinner." Mikey said, his eyes quickly sliding back to his game of Asteroids. Leo and Donnie looked confused while Raph rolled his eyes. "What?" Donnie said. "Less-awn-ee-ah?" Leo repeated uncertainly. Mikey glanced over the top of his game system at his brothers with a smug look. "Yeah. Jay made it for me. It's like pizza but layered in a deep dish. Jealous?" He said with a grin. "Oh, brother, with his imaginary friend again." Raph muttered in annoyance. "Jay's not imaginary!" Mikey huffed. "If you say so." Raph retorted, smirking at Mikey before turning back to his slice of pizza. "I swear you're just jealous because I have a new cool human friend and you don't! Just like last time!" Mikey said. "Mikey, the last human friend you had worked for the Shredder and tried to kill you." Donnie reminded. "Yeah, so an imaginary human friend is a total upgrade." Raph jeered. Mikey pouted as his brothers laughed at him, he crossed his arms and scooped up his handheld game system and walked off. They still didn't believe him! "Whatever! I'm going out to hang with my totally real human friend Jay!" Mikey shouted back at them. The youngest turtle picked up his skateboard on his way out and left to traverse the surface. As soon as Mikey got outside, he climbed the nearest building and hopped onto his board. He rode on the roofs, jumping from building to building to keep out of sight until he reached Jay's apartment. Mikey quietly climbed down the fire escape. The curtains were drawn over the window but a warm light emanated through them. He knocked softly on the glass and waited for an answer. A moment later, the curtains were pushed away to reveal an older man. He had dark hair, its color became salt and pepper near his ears and temples, and he wore big glasses. The man smiled when he saw Mikey waving at him, and he unlocked the latch and opened the window. "Hey kid, back so soon?" Jay greeted. "Yep!" Mikey said excitedly. "Well, come inside then. I was just doing some midnight cleaning." Jay said. Mikey slid inside across the threshold and into the apartment. Jay closed the window behind him and went back to cleaning while Mikey dropped his skateboard and flopped onto the couch. The apartment was small but cozy and it was kept tidy. It wasn't super boring for Mikey to visit because Jay had plenty of video games to play on systems he didn't even know existed until now. The graphics were mind-blowing! But sometimes they made him feel a little motion sick. "So, how are things?" Jay asked as he swept the kitchen tiles. Mikey frowned a little and sighed. Seeing Mikey looking down, Jay leaned his broom against the wall and came to sit down beside the turtle boy. "Is everything alright, bud?" He said gently with concern. "Yeah," Mikey replied, his voice sounding a little gloomy. "You sure? You sound kinda down." Jay pointed out. "It's just... my brothers don't believe me when I tell them that you're real!" Mikey responded. Jay raised a brow in confusion. "They don't think I'm real?" He questioned. "Yeah, they said I made you up 'cause they can't believe that I made a nice human friend." Mikey pouted. Jay chuckled and patted the young turtle on the head. "Aw, well, that's what it's like being the youngest sometimes." He said. "They'll believe I'm real once we all meet. What does your Sensei think?" Jay asked. Mikey got a bit nervous and began playing with his fingers. "Well... I haven't exactly told him about you yet..." Mikey replied sheepishly. Jay blinked and then sighed, he stood up from the couch and put his hands on his hips disapprovingly. "Mikey, I thought I told you to get permission from your dad before you came back here. You know how I feel about you being here when your parent doesn't know me." He said sternly. "But you're nice! You're nothing like Rad Brad!" Mikey argued. "That's not the point, kid. You can't just run off with someone you barely know because they're nice. I know you're capable of defending yourself but you could still get hurt. Like what happened with your first human friend, Rad Brad." Jay said. Mikey frowned. He knew Jay was right and it felt like he was being lectured by Master Splinter, albeit Jay was a little gentler than Splinter was. "I know," Mikey replied. "Sorry, Jay." He apologized. Jay nodded and he smiled. "It's alright. But in any case, I think I should go meet your father to explain things." He said. Jay picked up his coat and put it on before walking to the fridge to grab something. Mikey got up from the couch in surprise. "Wait, right now?" He said. "Yes, right now." Jay replied. He took out a square glass pan from the fridge and held it under his arm. "I don't want your family to freak out and come here ready to beat me up because they think you're in danger." Jay said. "Man, I could have introduced you to them sooner. Why didn't I think of that?" Mikey wondered. Jay cracked a smile. "Yeah, why didn't you?" He grinned. Mikey rubbed the back of his neck bashfully and shrugged. "I guess I kind of forgot." He said. Jay laughed and handed Mikey the dish while he put his keys into his pocket and headed to the front door. The young ninja recognized the food in the dish and his mouth began to water slightly. "Oh boy, less-awn-ee-ah!" Mikey said excitedly. He attempted to lift the cover to start eating but Jay lightly slapped his wrist to stop him. "Uh-uh. That's a gift for your family. And it's pronounced 'lasagna', honey." Jay informed. "Okay, okay." Mikey laughed. "Now, come on, let's get going." Jay said, pulling open the door. Mikey grinned before leaving the apartment so Jay could lock the door behind them. Once outside, Mikey guided Jay to the closest sewer grate and helped him down into the network of tunnels below.
Jay's nose scrunched up at the horrid smell and used his sleeve to cover his face. Right... the sewer. He forgot that's where Mikey and his family lived. As soon as Mikey jumped down to the concrete floor, he immediately started running toward his home. "C'mon Jay!" He called excitedly as he ran. Soon enough, they reached The Lair. Mikey stood there quietly beside Jay while he waited for his brothers to notice them, his eyes wide and anxious. Raph was reading a magazine on the couch and Leo was entranced with his favourite show while Donnie was writing something on the kitchen island. Mikey seemed uncharacteristically nervous. He wasn't afraid of what his brothers would say, if anything he was happy to show them up, but he was more worried about what Splinter would say. He hoped that he wouldn't be grounded for this. Jay lightly bumped Mikey with his elbow and offered a reassuring smile. Mikey smiled back. He clung to Jay's arm and cleared his throat loudly to get his brother's attention. "Hey guys, check it out!" He said cheerfully. The turtles turned their heads around and looked surprised to see their youngest brother standing with an adult man they didn't recognize. The three ninja turtles immediately stopped what they were doing and jumped to their feet. "Wh-what? Mikey, who is that?!" Leo demanded. "He's Jay," Mikey explained smugly. "And he's real!" He said. Jay snickered a little and he waved casually. "Howdy." He greeted. The three turtles stared at him in disbelief, seemingly unsure of what to do, as Jay walked further into the lair, the orange-clad turtle trailing close behind him. "Shell head, what were you thinking, bringing him here!?" Raph growled. "Well, you guys didn't believe me!" Mikey piped up. Jay opened his mouth to further explain things but he was cut off by a calm but firm voice that immediately quieted the room. "Michelangelo." Splinter said seriously. Everyone looked up to see Master Splinter standing at the entrance to the living area, a jade cane in his hands. Jay was a little surprised. Mikey had told him a little about his Sensei but he didn't expect a big humanoid rat. He had thought Splinter would have also been a turtle. The young turtle looked at his Sensei and swallowed nervously, shifting awkwardly beneath his gaze. Splinter's icy stare travelled to Jay. "Who is this?" He questioned. Though his tone sounded pleasant, Jay could tell Splinter was suspicious of him. He tried not to become intimidated due to the rat's height or appearance and calmed his nerves. "Um... this is my friend Jay." Mikey said quietly. "It's nice to finally meet all of you." He began, "I'm sorry to come here unannounced but I wanted to meet you in person. Mikey was supposed to tell you about me, but it slipped his mind, and I didn't want him visiting me unless he had your permission." Jay said. Splinter looked to Mikey. "Michelangelo, is this true?" He asked. Mikey hesitated before nodding slowly. "Yes, Splinter." He replied. The rat glanced back up at Jay, then motioned his hand to invite him into the lair. "Come, let us speak privately." He said. After a brief moment of hesitation, Jay complied and followed Splinter away from the turtles. He handed off the lasagna to Mikey. Mikey and his brothers remained in the living area somewhat tensely as the paper screen to the training room closed behind Jay.
Jay sat down on a provided pillow and tried to mimic Splinter's posture by sitting on his knees out of respect. Splinter stroked his long white beard and examined Jay closely.   "So tell me, how did you meet Michelangelo?" He queried. Splinter's voice was calm and authoritative as usual but the look in his eyes betrayed his concern. Jay could understand his weariness. "Well, one night, I was feeding the stray cats around my building when something fell into the dumpster in the alley. Turned out it was Mikey. He had been goofing off and fell from the roof. He scared the hell out of me but after he calmed me down, we talked a little, and I bandaged him up since he scrapped himself when he fell." Jay explained. "Since then, he's been visiting me and we've become friends." He said. "I see." Splinter replied simply. Jay smiled a little to himself. "Y'know, at first, I didn't know Mikey had a family so I sort of tried to look out for him. He's a good kid." He mused. This made Splinter smile. He could see now that Jay had a good heart and was sincere. "What do you know about us?" Splinter asked. Jay blinked. "Mikey hasn't told me much." He answered. There was a pause. "Listen, if you're worried that I might tell someone about you or your family because well, being what you are, you don't have to worry about that. I won't tell a soul, you have my word." Jay said firmly. Splinter seemed to relax a bit. "Thank you, Jay. It pleases me to know you will keep our secret." He hummed quietly. "And I must thank you for looking out for my youngest son, Michelangelo." Splinter went on. "Of course, it was no trouble at all." Jay beamed.
When Splinter opened the screen door back to the living area, the pair saw the four turtles in the kitchen staring at them as they messily ate the lasagna right out of the glass dish with their hands. Splinter sighed heavily and covered his face with his hand. Jay laughed heartily and walked over to the group. "I see you're enjoying my gift. I'm glad you like it." He grinned. Mikey swallowed his mouthful of food and glanced at his brothers. "Told ya. Like a pizza but with layers." He chuckled, making a layering motion with his hands. "Alright, I guess we're sorry for not believing you about Jay." Leo muttered. Donnie and Raph reluctantly apologized as well, keeping their eyes on their food, and Mikey beamed. "Well then, since things have been straightened out, I should be heading home now." Jay said. Mikey dropped his now mushy half-eaten piece of lasagna into the dish making his brothers groan with disgust. "You're leaving so soon? Don't you want to stay for a while? I could show you around the lair!" He piped up. "Sorry bud, I gotta get home now. It's pretty late." Jay replied. Mikey quickly licked his fingers clean and wiped the sauce from his mouth. He rushed over and gave Jay a big hug. Jay blinked in surprise and paused before wrapping his arms around Mikey happily. "Will you come back to hang out?" Mikey asked hopefully. "That's up to your father." Jay answered with a glance to Splinter. "Please, Master Splinter, can Jay come back again?" Mikey pleaded. Splinter nodded. "You are free to visit whenever you like, but I ask that you be careful when coming here." He requested. "I will." Jay agreed. Jay gave the young ninja one last squeeze before he let go. "Alright, kiddo, I'll see you later." He said. "Bye!" Mikey called. With a final wave from Jay, he turned and left the lair. Mikey, Leo, and Donnie waved goodbye. There was a short moment of silence between them. "Wow," Raph said quietly after Jay was gone. "He was really real, huh?" He snickered.
Leo x Reader - Oneshot (TMNT 2014/2016)
Tumblr media
"Don't forget to close your window (Y/N). One of these days you're gonna catch a serious cold." Your sister made a habit of scolding you about minor things like that. Since it was just the two of you, it made sense that she was a little over protective. So as she got ready to head to her graveyard shift, you just nod.
It's not that you intentionally forgot to close the windows, you just got so lost in the lights that glimmered at night. Sometimes you'd just sit at your desk and stare out at the night sky. It was soothing, and beautiful.
Such a magnificent city, so under appreciated and tarnished by the crime all around it. It was sad for you, reading the headlines. What did bring you comfort was the so-called vigilantes. No one knew who they were, or where they came from. But slowly, they were taking the city back. One thug at a time.
"So cool." Being a teenager didn't allow for much excitement. At least not in your life. The biggest issue in your life right now was probably getting through your finals. But you wondered what it would be like being out there, saving the world. Doing something worthwhile, something that mattered.
"I wish I was that amazing." You head rest on the windowsill, just gazing at the stars.
"I'm sure you're an amazing person." The voice made you shoot up. And from your position on the window, you could only make out a shadow above your head.
"I'm sorry, that was a bit creepy. I don't mean to intrude. You seemed a bit down. " You blinked at the male voice.
"O-Oh! I'm sorry. I really didn't think anyone would be out here so late."
There was an apartment above you, so maybe he was doing the same thing you were. "I should apologize. I'll just leave you to your thoughts."
"W-Wait!" It was a little weird, but you didn't mind. He didn't sound like a bad guy, and he did compliment you. "Y-You don't have to go. I was just rambling to myself. I usually just come out here to think. It's a bit therapeutic. "
"I guess...I do the same thing. It helps, doesn't it? Makes you forget just how much is going on." You smile. He sounded sort of mature.
"Yeah, it does. It's a bit cheesy but I love the stars. They are what I look forward to honestly. I feel like we take it for granted. Everyday we wake up and just expect the sun to be there because that's how it's always been. We rush through the day and when night comes, we repeat the cycle. So much beauty and we can't even work up a simple thanks. " When you'd finish your little rant you flushed. "Oh gosh I'm rambling again you probably don't even want to hear all this." You were probably boring this stranger.
"No it's alright. I agree with you. So many things aren't promised, we need to appreciate that. Just recently an incident opened my eyes to just how fleeting life is. I almost lost my family...my brothers. "
You shot up at that."A-Are they okay! W-What happened!" he just let out a small chuckle at your concern.
"They're fine. We survived because well we had each other. That's what life is really about. Family, and of course pizza." you laugh at his joke, resting your head back on your arm. "Well I'm glad it all worked out for you. I can't imagine what I would do if something happened to my sister. "
"She's lucky to have such a wonderful sibling." you blush.
T-Thank you."
"Well, I don't want to keep you awake any longer, and I myself need to get to bed."
"Oh yeah of course. It was nice meeting you uh...umm?"
"Leonardo. But everyone calls me Leo."
"Leonardo, woah."
"I'm (Y/N), It's really nice meeting you Leo."
"Likewise (Y/N)." even the way he said your name made you blush. "I guess we'll talk again?" you said hopefully.
"You can count on it."
~~~~~~
Nights like that continued, you'd be just sitting, enjoying the cool air, and Leo would just appear, striking up a conversation. As the days passed he told you more about himself, and his brothers. Just from the way he spoke it wasn't hard to tell that he loved them. It was clear as day. What you didn't understand is why you never saw him.
You were positive he lived in the apartments above, but no one ever introduced themselves to you. And it felt weird just going up and knocking on random doors to find your mystery man. Maybe he was just shy.
You could understand that. Somehow you felt like no matter what you'd still like him, even if he wasn't the most gorgeous guy in the world. Just from the way he spoke, it pulled you in. He sounded caring, and strong. Passionate too. He never really told you about where he went to school, or if he even did. You really wanted to ask more personal questions, but you didn't want to seem nosy and chase him away with your eagerness.
You'd only been talking for a month now. It's not like you were dating, so he wasn't obligated to tell you anything. You kind of hoped he'd do that on his own.
So you were once again at your ledge. "Leo?"
"Right here. You know I finally saw that movie you were talking about. The croods. Even my brothers were skeptical but it was hilarious. We couldn't stop laughing."
"I know it's a masterpiece I swear." you started giggling, and Leo laughed.
"Really (Y/N), Thank you for recommending it. Raph and I..lately we've been having a hard time. That movie I guess it showed us what it means to have a family. We won't always see things from the same point of view, but at the end of the day, he has my back, and I have his. That's what matters. "
"Well I'm glad I could help. " You sat there for a while in silence, just enjoying the view, and the company of each other.
"Hey (Y/N), can I ask you something?"
"Of course! Ask away."
"If I were...different, what would you think?"
Different?
"Well I guess that depends on your definition of different Leo. Honestly I'd like to think I'm not so shallow to care about something as superficial as looks. " You knew why he was asking. He was probably afraid you would judge him based on how he looked.
"It's not as simple as that." you brows knitted. "Come on, if you're scared don't be. I think as long as you aren't some alien being from another planet we'll be fine. " you laugh in hopes that he'd feel a bit more comforted, but you got nothing but silence in return.
"Leo?" You shifted in your seat, and you're tempted to peek your head over a little so you can catch just a glimpse of him. You don't have to. There's a loud thud, and standing above you on the fire escape is a sight that leaves you breathless. Your eyes are wide, and you can't do much but gape at the six foot green hulk of a man standing in front of you.
"He...has a shell.." So maybe not a man.
"Do you still think that?" That voice, there's no mistaking it, this is definitely Leo. In the flesh, or scales you suppose. His eyes, they're the bluest you've ever seen, and he's wearing a bandana that just makes it more striking. The look he sends you is one that illuminates indifference, A shield. He's probably experienced this reaction often. It's hard not to react this way. What you're seeing right now, it shouldn't be possible. After a long pause of nothing but your staggered breathing, his head lowers.
"I guess you aren't as open minded as you thought." His words are said with so much pain, and you can't even work out a proper word before he's flipping up and away. You just sit there, stiff. You felt frozen in that moment. What lingers is that look in his eyes. He seemed heart broken, and you want to slap yourself for not even calling out to him and apologizing.
"Leo..."
This is probably the last time you'll ever see him.
~~~
"Quit moping around it's annoying. " Leo opens his eyes in response to Raph's statement.
"I'm not moping." He was meditating. It usually helped when he needed to clear his head.
"Ya been acting weird since last night. Did that chick finally see ya or something." His hands tightened in his lap, and Raph doesn't miss the action. "Just...leave me alone Raph." Leo sounded defeated, something Raph thought he'd never see. "There's no shame in admitting ya hurt. You're the leader, not a bulletproof vest." Raph takes a seat next to him, biting down on the toothpick. "Ya know, last time you gave me that crappy speech about true acceptance coming from within. Where did that muck go?" Raph sends him a cocky smile, and Leo can't help but return a small smile. "I guess I'm no good at taking my own advice."
"Not one bit." Leo just sighs, unfolding his legs. It's useless to try and meditate. He can't concentrate when your encounter is running through his head. "If she's half as great as you make her seem, she won't give a crap if you're a mutant or not. Shit like that, it shouldn't matter. If she can't see that then you're just wasting your time. I'm sure there's a whole lot of other girls into your hold uptight know it all attitude."
"You suck at giving compliments Raph."
"Thanks." Both brothers smile, and Raph gives Leo a heavy pat on the shoulder. "Save ya tears for when I kick your ass in training." Raph stands, and Leo shoots after, drawing his swords.
"In your dreams. "
~~~
For the next couple days, you'd wait by your window. It was so weird coming here and not hearing from him. You got so used to the conversation, the company. You wanted to cry, because no matter how many times you called to him, he never answered, all because of you. No wonder he was so scared to show himself. He probably got judged by so many people. How were you better? Even after saying you didn't care. You felt like a hypocrite.
"Leo..I'm sorry." He probably wasn't even there, but you didn't care, you just want to see him again. "I guess I'm no better than some of the kids at my school. They're so focused on what's acceptable that they miss greatness. The way I talk to you is so different. I feel like you get me and you aren't even human, yet the way you think is far more human than the scumbags in this world. You're so considerate and humble and I just want you to know that I'm really sorry. I-I don't care what you are, I just want to talk to you again." you sobbed, hoping that he'd at least come back at some point to see that you were looking for him. With the way you acted, it didn't seem like a possibility.
"Do you mean that, you really don't care.." your eyes lit up. You could hear him climbing down the wall, and when his feet landed on the fire escape this time, you didn't freeze.
"Leo..." He looked down at you a bit guilty when he saw your tears.
"(Y/N).." you could tell he was about to apologize, but you quickly wiped your eyes with the back of your sleeves, smiling up at him as you pushed up the window higher. You took a step back, and Leo got the message. He hesitated for a second, unsure if he should really step in. He didn't want you to faint like April did the first time she saw him. Yet, this was your second meeting, and you looked more curious than afraid this time. So he ducked his head, cautiously inching through the window. When he finally raised his body, you were still watching him.
Now that you had a better look you could make out how muscular he was. He also had two swords strapped to his back. He caught where your eyes drifted and lifted his hand immediately.
"D-Don't worry I only use these against criminals."
"Criminals?"
Wait he couldn't be..could he?
"Are you..the vigilante?" he scratched his head. By the way he was looking around you could tell he hadn't meant to disclose that information. "I'm one of them." So this whole time, no wonder he was always at the top of your apartment. The buildings were a perfect way to get around, especially at night.
"That night when I heard you talking I just..I don't know why but you sounded so defeated. I thought a few words would help lighten your night. After that talk we had though, I couldn't stop thinking about you so I kept coming back." you heart skipped. So it was the same for him.
"I knew it was only a matter of time before you would ask to meet and I was terrified (Y/N). I didn't want our talks to end, but I felt like I was betraying your trust by not telling you the truth about me. I'm sorry that I made you cry, I never wanted to hurt you."
He had nothing to apologize for, you were the one that stared like he was some freak.
"You don't have to apologize. I'm the one in the wrong. I was just so shocked. I thought aliens were a myth. " He smiled at you.
"I'm not an alien." you stammered.
"O-Oh! S-sorrry I guess I just assumed and I-"
"It's okay. If I were in your shoes I'd think the same. Aliens are real though. "
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"Woah." you took a step back, dropping on your bed with a wistful look. Guess there was more out there than you initially thought. Leo stepped a bit closer, you could tell he wanted to sit next to you, but he seemed to be debating with himself if it was the right move. You patted the space next to you with the widest smile. He just let out a soft laugh, sitting at the edge of the bed with you. It dipped a little at his added weight, and it made you slide down into his arm. You caught yourself, looking up to tell him sorry.
His hand was right where you'd grip to steady yourself, and your gazes locked. Up close, his eyes were bluer than before. Or maybe that was just your brain playing tricks on you. Your heart was hammering now, and you were absolutely horrified that he could hear it. You didn't want to move, or look away. Leo appeared to be caught in a similar trance.
"Would you mind if I..kissed you Leo.." He blinked in surprise. Surely this was a dream. It had to be. Or some sick joke. That's what he thought. But when he saw the little light shining behind your orbs, he couldn't seem to convince himself it wasn't real. You were so much closer than before, and you were still holding unto his arm. He could feel the heat from your palm. Was that your pulse racing, or his. He couldn't differentiate. He realized then that he hadn't answered your question. You were just watching him expectantly. "I...I..what.." now he forgot how to form proper words.
You leaned in closer, and he gulped. "I want to kiss you...so bad.." you breathed. You were getting closer, and he couldn't trust himself to speak again, so he just moved with you, closing the distance. When your lips touched you were stunned at how soft his were. You inhaled, leaning into his body as you kept a hold on his arm.
Leo was completely lost and taken by the sensation. It was no secret that he'd never kissed before. His palm moved to your cheek, and he responded, pulling you closer. He hoped, wished that this very moment would never end. He craved the sensations that rushed over his body as you parted to get a breath, only to dive back in for another taste. It was mind blowing. When he felt your tongue prodding his lips slightly, he opened them slightly, and your wet appendage dove in. the minute your tongues touched he pulled back. His eyes were wide and you retracted with red cheeks.
"S-Sorry! I-I don't know where that came from I just I-I.."
"I-It's fine. I'm..I've never kissed like that it just surprised me a little." you placed both of your hands in your lap, flustered. That was the first time you'd ever try to french a guy. Turtle. Leo was watching the way you fidgeted. He didn't intend for you to feel bad. It actually felt really good. So good he didn't know what to do so he panicked.
"Can we try again?" He whispered. Your eyes lifted, and you nodded a bit shyly.
This time Leo was the one who initiated the kiss. He liked the way it felt so he didn't waste time with chaste pecks. He opened his mouth and you moaned when his tongue invaded your mouth. This time you positioned yourself closer, and Leo reached down, lifting your hips and placing you right into his lap. Your hands came up, going around his neck as you continued to exchange wet desperate kisses. You supposed another thing you were wrong about was your self control. You used to look at the kids in your class and contemplate how shamelessly hormonal they were. Kissing at the lockers, making out under the bleachers. Now, you sort of understood. Leo was the exception. He was indeed different, but that's what made him great.

Beyond the Bay Chapter 12 - Hidden City
Summary: The turtles go off in search of a new rift in the Hidden City
Tags: @brightlotusmoon @selfindulgenz @digitl-art-monstr @ilo-artistry
Leo hated every part of this. The sun was up, so they should be down, and out of sight. He had known his counterparts long enough to know how loose they often played with the rules his family followed so diligently, but to take to the streets under the danger of daylight for something that could easily wait for the blanket of night was absurd! In his two decades of life, Leo could count the amount of daylight explorations he had taken on two hands; the risk was hardly ever worth it. Despite the prickling insecurities inside him, Leo pushed himself onward to follow Raphael’s lead. This city was so familiar, yet so foreign at the same time. So easy to get lost in. Leo found himself picking out familiar buildings to assure that this place was still New York, even in this toony world so colorful that he could almost believe a pallet of paint had been spilled over it. This was New York and New York would always be home, even if home was a whole dimension away.
Raphael’s guidance brought the group of anxious turtles to an alleyway. They dropped down from above; Leo felt a shutter go through his body, a cold chill seizing his senses and stealing away his breath as he passed through something that seemed almost… green. The sudden shock made him stutter, his balance unsteady enough to knock over a trash can upon landing. With a clutter and a clang the silver bin fell and rolled, several more loud crashes sounding off each time it hit something. The eyes of Donnie and Raph turned to the shock-stricken Leo, who could only stare with his wide, cerulean eyes. The people walking past in the streets to either side, just feet away from what they’d see as monsters, didn’t stopped. Leo let himself breathe and the three brothers, muscles still tensed and ready to hide at the slightest sign of trouble, moved back into a tight formation around their younger counterparts.
“What are we doing here?” Leo couldn’t contain it anymore and he had to ask. His voice was a low whisper. “We could be seen!”
“Relax.” Leonardo laughed, and his voice wasn’t at all soft. He was met with three sets of shhhhh from the Splintersons, but laughed each of them off, “This alleyway has a mystic shimmer. We can see them.” He cleared his throat, “BUT THEY CAN’T SEE OR HEAR US!”
True to his word, the people in the street kept on their way as if the turtles didn't even exist. So that was what Leo felt! What had made him stumble!  The cautious tension in Donnie was immediately replaced by heart-fluttering curiosity. He couldn’t resist a high-pitched whistle, striding away from the group before Leo could say a word to stop him; he went as close as he dared to the end of the alleyway, waving and laughing and calling out to the streets with, to his utter joy, no response.
“This is so cool this is so cool this is so cool!” Donnie’s voice got higher with each repeat, flapping his wrists, “W-what is it, some type of four-lensed blind spot? O-or something using metamaterials or—?”
“Noooo, it’s mystic.” Leonardo said, and with a snap of his fingers Michelangelo perked up. He removed a small item that had been hidden in the rainbow pouch around his neck, the artifact attached to him by a slim golden collar; it was almost like a keychain he hung around his neck. “And so is this.”
Leo eyed the little trinket curiously; in shape, it was similar to Donatello’s gift, except with greens and golds instead of orange and reds. He could have mistaken it for an oddly colored compass with kanji if he hadn’t seen that familiar, lop-sided M in the middle. The compass itself was pointing directly at the wall, glowing the most vibrant neon and pulsing slightly. Leo could feel the energy radiating.
With a hand as steady as a seasoned artist, Michelangelo traced the trinket across the wall using the M as a guiding map. Before the astonished eyes of the Splinterson brothers, the compass left what looked almost like a trail of paint in its wake, except it didn't drip, and when Michelangelo had completed his work it began to glow. It was green at first, then shifted into a soft baby blue, and then into white as the faux paint finally started to drip and melt into a doorway. Leo felt an immediate draw toward it, like the force that would try to lasso them into Leonardo’s rift except not as strong. Raph gave a simple hiss in response, pulling back and shaking his head while Donnie did the exact opposite, reaching for the rift as if it were the most precious treasure.
Tumblr media
“I thought only your Leo could make rifts…” Leo said.
“Pretty cool, huh?” Leonardo asked, dancing over to stand proud at Leo’s side, “Portals are the only way into the Hidden City!”
“Hidden City?” Raph breathed through his teeth, eyes still fixed on the rift.
“Yeah!” Raphael said unhelpfully, “You three should stay close to us; the mystic types can be pretty jarring for first timers.”
Raph started to say, “I think I can handle them” before he felt a gentle tug at his hand. Raph looked to see Michelangelo holding his hand, resting his full weight against Raphael’s arm without the older mutant so much as flinching. Michelangelo’s eyes were wide, the colors flowing in them like a warm sunset as he beamed up at his friend.
“Don’t be scared, Raphie! You can hold my hand if you want to!”
“Uh…” Looking down at this tiny, vibrant young shinobi that barely came up to his stomach in height, Raph couldn’t say anything except, “Y-yeah, sure. Thanks kid…”
Michelangelo have a happy giggle and wiggled his joy. He snatched Donnie with his other hand before the tallest box turtle could get very far.
“You can hold my hand too, Donna!”
“Donna?” Raph breathed through his nose, then laughed, “Hell yeah. Down with the patriarchy.”
Donnie, upon being grabbed by Michelangelo, had much the same reaction as Raph. He didn't know what to do, and then he fell to soft adoration as he realized he would do anything for this kid.
“Thanks Mike.”
“Can I hold your hand too?” Leo asked brightly
Michelangelo’s expression flattened. “Only got two hands, Leon.”
Donatello cleared his throat and stepped forward to motion the first group through the rift. “Please keep your hands and feet inside the mystic rift until the ride has ended, keep all personals close as we will not be liable for any limbs or items that may turn up missing. Keep your shells on, your heads low, and watch out for portal jackers as we take this small voyage to Run-Of-The-Mill pizza.”
With that, Michelangelo and the two other box turtles that had to crouch to be able to hold his hand went through the rift without fear. Leo, his mouth still hanging open, turned to look at Raphael, who could only shrug before going through the rift himself.
“Lady’s first~” Leonardo gave what could have resembled a polite bow if not for the mocking tone, motioning Leo through first.
Leo sucked in a breath, shaking the nervous jitters like water off a duck's back before he stepped through. The pull was very much so like the rift he and his family had taken to wind up in this world to begin with, except less painful. When he opened his eyes again he was standing in… a restaurant?
The smell of cumin and Chili filled the air. The feeling of the polished floor under Leo’s feet was unlike anything he had ever felt before. Like ice, except not cold; soft, but hard at the same time if that was possible. His eyes adjusted to the darkness of the building and more details were quick to come to him; wooden booths with dark brown cushions and tables clean enough to shine under the candlelight that filled the restaurant; the candles, it seemed, were held up by nothing at all! They were shaped almost like they were living; Leo thought it nothing more than a cool design before he realized they actually were living! Living candles with curves and form almost like human women, their hair the flaming candle wicks and the bottom of their shafts flowing out like a ball gown! Closer still and Leo could even begin to make out tiny, detailed faces!
“You want your normal seats I presume?”
Leo blinked and shook his head as the familiar voice brought him back down to earth. Though he hadn’t seen Hueso in just over two years, the skeleton man had hardly changed at all. The calaca’s white pupils danced across the group with a curious hum.
“And shall I double your usual then?” Hueso queried.
“Bone man!” Leonardo explained, scooping Hueso up in a hug before the older yokai could make his escape. “Good to see ya!”
“Wish I could say the same.” Hueso grumbled, then added bitterly, “Problem child…”
“And that’s why you love me!” Leonardo blew a kiss, “Now Hueso, you remember the other us’s, right?”
“Unfortunately, it’s a pleasure to remake your acquaintance.”
Hueso was met with three half-hearted mutters of greeting; none of the Splintersons were even looking at him! Why would they when there were so many different creatures to see? In most every booth and table and barstool were mutants out of a fantasy book; beings even Donnie couldn’t single out as anything familiar! Some of them had characteristics that could have been compared to more natural animals— tentacles and fangs and frills. Creatures as big as an elephant or small as a shrew, with varying table sizes to accommodate all in between.
“Hey, listen bone man.” Leonardo tried to whisk Hueso away for a private conversation, but Hueso ducked to avoid the fate. His eyes and Leonardo’s were locked until Leonardo backed down, “We need a favor.”
“Don’t you always?” Hueso asked, “Seems every time you come to pay a visit it is for your own gain.”
“What? Noooo! Me? Noo!” Leonardo scoffed, waving a dismissive hand and laughing before quickly giving up the ruse, “It’s important this time. We need to find a yokai who sells decent rifts at an affordable price, and we need it like yesterday if we want to get these boys home.”
Hueso hummed, bringing his fingers to his mouth as he considered. “Define affordable.”
“Somewhere in the price range of… eight hundred US dollars or nine thousand Japanese yen.” Donatello said.
Hueso hissed through his teeth. “You won’t get any that cheap. Cheapest I know of would be Monroe, but quality rifters at his place run upward to three million pesos.”
Donatello took out his phone and ran some quick calculations. “Okay guess we’re not eating this month.”
“Wish I could be of more help pepino.” Hueso said, turning to leave while he was still talking, “I’ll go get you directions to Monroe.”
~~~
“This looks like the place…” Donatello said, and he indicated a small sliver of alleyway squeezed between two tall buildings.
“Doesn’t look like much.” Raph huffed; Michelangelo still had a tight hold on his and Donnie’s hands for support.
“But it is discrete though.” Donnie pointed out; his mind was still wandering, trying its best to soak up the tangled stimuli from the buildings and the mutants that looked almost like something out of a cartoon! Like a child had drawn these characters and these structures and planted them together in a bright, yet disorienting, array of flashing colors. “I’d hate to be an epileptic in this place…”
“Are we… gonna be able to fit through there?” Leo asked, his question directed toward Leonardo.
Leonardo flashed Leo a warning glare before saying, “Raph, are you and the guys gonna be able to fit?”
Raphael gave a low whine. His beak crinkled in concentration as his first idea was to simply walk forward, which proved him too wide. Then he huffed and turned sideways, but was still too bulky. It seemed Raphael ran out of ideas, so Donatello cleared his throat.
“If I could direct everyone’s attention slightly upwaaaard~”
Following his motion, they found what could have resembled a bell hanging above the alleyway. It looked as if it were made of slime with little chunks of something floating inside. Raph cringed at the sight of it, but Raphael gave a far too curious ooo and reached to touch it. Leonardo quickly stepped between Raphael and the slime-bell.
“No no no no, no no. No.” Leonardo said, forcing Raphael back, “Bad Raph.”
“I wasn’t gonna eat it.” Raphael pouted.
Leonardo narrowed his eyes. Raphael stuck out his bottom lip and tapped his fingers.
“Okay I was gonna eat it. You can ring it.”
“Eh… not sure if I want to…” Despite his words, Leonardo reached up and took the slimy rope of the bell, a texture not unlike a worm, and yanked on it. Instead of ringing, it gave off a sound like a foghorn blowing that made every turtle cover their ears, though Leonardo removed his hands from his head just as quickly when he realized it was still covered in slime. “Ew ew ew ew—“
There was a pop and they were swallowed by a slimy, green bubble. What followed was mixed reactions of terror and disgust as they moved into a tighter group, shell to shell with the bigger ones surrounding the smaller. The bubble lifted then off their feet and through the wall like they had no matter at all, carried past the narrow door and lowered to the ground on the other side before the slime bubble popped and left them confused and disgruntled.
“What is this place?” Donnie was the first to separate from the group to look around. The space around them was not unlike an auction house, filled with all sorts of items on display. They filled shelf after shelf after shelf, placed around with no true order. Looking up would reveal several more floors, all just as filled with artifacts and creatures for purchase, with a convenient opening through the middle of each floor.
“Looks like some sort of witchy auction place…” Raph commented. Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Raph separated and started to investigate the place for himself, “How does a grimy grifter get a place like this?”
“Wait a minute…” Leonardo frowned as he looked around, “Wait— I know this place.”
Raph picked up a gem-encrusted chalice, turning it around curiously. “Huh. Fancy.”
“Raph, don’t touch anything.” Leo groaned.
“What?” Raph scoffed, “Guess you don’t want me to do this either, huh?”
He began to juggle the chalice with surprising style.
“Raph, stop that!” Leo tried to intervene, but that only seemed to egg Raph on. He danced out of Leo’s reach, laughing as he pretended to drop the decor before catching it at the last second, “I’m serious!”
Raph only laughed. At least, he was laughing until he actually did drop it— right on the head of a small, purple yokai who had been observing the scene, as still as one of his statues. Raph swore, trying to recover the drop but it was too late. It sank into the yokai’s head as if he were made of pure gelatin, and they could still see the gold through the flesh and skin. The purple yokai blinked, and Raph screamed.
The purple yokai’s skin shifted into flowing rings of yellow and orange that forced the chalice up and out of his head, into his hand. He didn't look like much— something akin to a slug if anything— with a soft beak and a snaggle tooth like Raphael’s only smaller. He breathed onto the chalice and wiped it off with his sleeve before placing it back on the shelf.
“Please don’t touch.”
“YOU!” Leonardo pointed accusingly, “You’re that slug guy who sold me wallet-stealing hair! You’re Monroe?!”
“That’s a talking slug—” Raph withdrew back into the crowd of his brothers, eyes wide.
Donnie gasped, pulling his goggles down over his eyes and advancing as quickly as Raph had retreated. The slug drew into himself, his entire body constricting like a squeezed stress ball. Leo visibly cringed, while Raphael and his brothers didn't seem all that bothered beyond a few yawns or comforting pats for Raph.
“This is incredible— there’s compounds in him that fail to be isolated or traced!” Donnie picked up one of the slugs arms to investigate every inch of him. “He doesn’t even seem to be carbon based at all; there’s elements I can’t even identify— what…?” Donnie pulled up his goggles as the astonishment gave way to a confused frown, “Is— is he a mutant?”
“No.” Donatello scoffed.
That was met with three very confused box turtles casting side glances.
“Are… are any of them mutants?” Leo asked.
Leonardo laughed, “What? You though every yokai in the Hidden City was mutated by Draxum and his army of mutant mosquitoes? Ha! W-what dumb idiots would think that?” Leonardo was visibly sweating.
“Not these dumb idiots, that’s for sure.” Donatello tried to brush past, scratching his neck.
“W-wait, so none’a them guys we passed were mutants?” Raph asked, pointing back at the door.
“Well, some of them might have been, but the majority? No; they’re yokai and cryptids.”
“Yokai…” Donnie breathed, and that astonished look returned to his face as he continued to circle Monroe, “They exist in your world? Oh my kama this just keeps getting better—“
“Don.” Raph whistled as if Donnie was a dog, “Buy first, geek later.”
Monroe’s eyes lit up at that and he pulled himself away from Donnie to give a polite bow to the rest of the group. “If sales you wants, sales I’s gots! I gots artifacts from all around the world, from the tombs of Giza to the ancient Amazons. If you needs it, I gots it!”
“Great!” Raphael clapped. “Cause we need a high quality rifter.”
Monroe sank into himself. “Not that’s I don’t gots…”
A visible vein twitched in Leo. “What?”
“I solds out…” He frowned, tapping his nubby hands together.
“WHEN?”
“Like ten minutes ago, don’t yell at me.” The slug quivered, his eyes like saucers.
Leonardo sucked in a slow, deep breath, “Who bought them, Monroe?”
“Oh, an andoroido with a nice voice ands such manners. He’s having buying all my rifters. He’s very rich.”
“All of them?” Raphael whimpered, “Y-you don’t even got a… a small busted one in the back?”
Monroe shook his head. “Not one! He was be very insistent he gets alls of them. But I do has a very special hover pod with your name witten all over it if you—“
“Not interested.” Leonardo quickly dismissed, pulling on his face in his frustration, “Great. We— we’ll find somewhere else to look.”
“But I is to be assuring you that no other shop has rifters worth your while…” Monroe said.
“That's what every illegal rifter peddler would say!”
“Not this illegal rifter peddler, I swearing it to you!”
“And I swear I’ll bust your teeth in if you’re lying…” Leonardo seized Monroe by the collar and lifted him up.
“Leo.” Raphael was quick to correct. His eyes met Leonardo’s for just a moment. That was all it took for Leonardo to relent and release the Yokai. Raphael made a quick point to help Monroe fix his shirt. “Sorry ‘bout that. If you happen to find a rifter you missed, could you give us a call?”
Without having to be asked, Donatello had already written up his phone number and placed it in Monroe’s hand.
“You wouldn’t happen to have any more contacts, do you Don?”
Donatello took a long, slow breath. “I’ll see what I can find.”
Take Me As I Am
Truth or Dare
So I’ve had an idea for character development for a while now, and I’m still not sure about it, but thought it would be fun to do a quick one-off slightly smutty fluff piece. Anyway, here goes….
_____________________
Higgs almost chokes on his beer as he spits a little out, covering his mouth with a hand. “W-wait, wait. You drop that bomb on me now?” He starts laughing that deep, low, dangerous laugh, and wipes a tear from his eye.
“Yeah, I fucked a girl once”, came the nonchalant response.
“Okay, c’mon now, you can’t just tell me that and keep it all in. Share with the class, Leo.”
In her semi-drunken state, Leo gave a small wave of her hand, and continued. “Well…she and I worked at the same company when I was first starting out as a porter. We bumped into each other in the cafeteria a few times, and got to chatting. We’d go out of our way to use each other’s structures when out on runs. Sometimes I’d leave notes for her—yes, actual notes—at timefall shelters if I knew she’d be coming that way, and frequently, I’d find small packages in my private room. Y’know, just small things…”
Leo stares wistfully at nothing in particular, gently rubbing the cat goddess pendant that hung around her neck. Higgs notices this, but leaves his comment unspoken. His demeanor rapidly changes from one of aroused interest to gentle understanding. He leans forward in his chair, resting his forearms on his knees as he plays with the can in his hands.
“We’d request to go out on partnered runs. We worked so well together, and we made some of the fastest runs in our company. One of our trips…well…we had a close run in with some BTs. I honestly thought we were going to trigger a void out that night.”
Higgs gently rubbed her hand when he saw Leo’s eyes widen at the memory. She smiled softly at him.
“We ran like hell after we got away. We were grabbing onto each other, sometimes dragging the other, only stopping to slam the terminal button at the first safe house we found. I really thought my lungs were going to burst. But…the two of us collapse on the bed—we normally shared the beds—and…we just start laughing. Like full on, tears in eyes laughter. We’re laying there, legs dangling off the bed, looking at each other, and…I don’t know what came over me…I leaned over and kissed her.”
Silence washes over them as long lost memories fill the intimate space. Higgs holds her hand as she works through the past.
“Before we knew it, we were all tangled up, clothes scattered…I….”
Leo’s face was covered in a subtle blush, which was growing less subtle by the second.
“But, uh, yeah…she was my first.”
Higgs lets out a whistle, stretching out his legs and reaching his hands behind his head.
“Well shit. You got me beat. My first time was a random hookup in a dark alley back in one of the knot cities. I don’t even recall which one. Didn’t even get his name…just did the deed and parted ways.” Higgs had a lopsided grin on, but Leo could see figments of his past surfacing in his ocean eyes. “To be honest, darlin’, you’re the first person to ever…give something back to me. You didn’t just take. And…well…it’s a fuckin’ good feeling.”
Leo sat up from her chair, leaned over the coffee table between them, and pulled Higgs in for a deep kiss. He tasted like Timefall Porter and pizza, and Leo wasn’t complaining. He hummed happily, pulling her hips in towards his lap, helping her over the table. She straddled him, forehead on his, fingers combing through his hair. She placed a kiss on his forehead as they sat there, taking in each other’s warmth.
With a low hmmmm, Higgs looks up at her, and breaks the silence.
“So, I want you to know, darlin’,” he says, earnestly gazing into her eyes, “if you ever, y’know, wanted to bring someone else in, I wouldn’t mind.” Leo watches the composed facade break as he loses it and breaks out in a wide grin. She rolls her eyes, laughs, and playfully smacks his chest.
“Ohh you know I’d only do it for you, babe. I wouldn’t enjoy seeing my hot girlfriend with another girl at all, no pleasure at all. S’all for you, darlin’…all for you.”
Leo lets out a dramatic sigh, gets off his lap, and turns around to head to the shower.
“I know, why don’t we invite your old co-worker. What was her name?….ah yes, Fragile, that was it! Why don’t you give her a call?”
A smug and throughly satisfied smirk spreads across Leo’s face as she hears Higgs gag on his drink as she leaves him shouting out his retorts and thinking about his actions.
As she showered, waiting for Higgs to join her, she thought about her “offer”. The more she thought about it, the more it actually sounded…fun.
My Hero - Mikey x fem!reader
requested? yes/no
“Well i just found your blog and im super excited to see where this goes! My request is April has a cousin the turtles have heard of but never met and before they finally do she warns them that shes a little reserved, keeps to herself but over time when she warms up shes super dorky and like mikey? Idk if that makes sense. Just some fluffy michelangelo x reader 😅”
a/n: My first request! I was sooo excited for this one! I kinda took it in a different direction, but I tried to keep it as close to your request as possible. I can’t wait to write all of the other requests you guys have sent me!
warnings: none :)
“Oh my God, that movie was crazy!” April exclaimed.
You had just moved back to New York two weeks prior, and your favorite redheaded cousin invited you to see a movie with her and her boyfriend friend, Casey–much to his dismay–which you’d been thankful for; April was the only person you knew at school.
As someone who tended to keep to yourself, April was aware of your anti-social tendencies, and she’d do everything to avoid it. She was determined to make New York City actually feel like home.
“Eh,” Casey shrugged. “It was alright. I don’t really see the hype.”
April rolled her eyes. “Don't pretend that we didn’t see you jump at all the jump-scares, Casey.”
Casey grinned. “You paying attention that closely to me, Red? You must like me or something.”
You couldn’t help but giggle as you watched the two bicker back and forth.
“Shut it, Jones,” she rolled her eyes.
A crash behind you made the three of you jump and turn around instinctively. Though, nothing could be visible.
“What the hell was that?” you muttered to yourself. The eery streets of the city at night had yet to make you feel welcome.
Suddenly, what had looked like slender robots in black robes began sprinting toward you three, jumping out behind trash cans and street corners. Your heart sank to your stomach at the scene in front of you, your body frozen in shock.
“Footbots!” April screamed, exchanging looks with Casey. “Casey, get Y/n back home, I’ll handle them!”
Casey raised his eyebrows. “What?! No way, Red! You go home with Y/n, I’ll handle it.” He grabbed one of his hockey sticks and charged at the Footbots, leaving you not knowing what to do.
April grabbed what looked like a steel fan from her pocket and began fighting as well; it was a sight you never thought you’d ever see.
“Y/n, run!” April shouted over the sounds of steel against steel, and hockey sticks against cement.
You began running in the opposite direction of the chaos, in the direction of your home. Though it’d take about another ten minutes to get there, you were eager to do anything you had to get away from what you'd just witnessed.
You weren’t able to get far before one of the robots appeared in front of you, causing you to stumble back onto the cement. Your eyes wide with fear, staring at the huge being towering over you with a sword in hand. As it raised its sword, a blade sliced across its torso with a quickness you would have missed if you weren’t watching so intently. As the robot’s body fell in half onto the pavement in front of you, another being with green skin and a blue mask appeared, holding the katana that had saved your life.
“Woah,” was all you could manage, staring at it. Green speckled skin, a plastron and a shell...was it a turtle?
It left, fighting off the rest of the bots with three more that looked just like it, all with different colored masks and different weapons. Your heart was racing, you could feel your body pulsating with the very beat of your heart as the fight ensued.
“Guys,” one of them spoke up. “Splinter’s not gonna be too happy about another human knowing about us.”
They can talk?
The four turtles and your two friends looked your way as your eyes rolled back and you felt your head hit the pavement before falling into unconsciousness.
You woke up in your bed, your redheaded cousin sitting at the foot of your bed. You groaned, your hand going to the back of your head where gauze had been placed.
“Y/n,” April began, her voice soft. “We need to talk.”
“What happened last night?” you moaned, your vision spinning as the pain in the back of your head increased.
She grabbed a glass of water on your nightstand and handed it to you.
“Here,” she kept her hands on your own to ensure that you were holding it tight enough, tipping it back as you gulped.
She stared down at her fingers, fumbling with them. This was a nervous habit you’d remembered your cousin having for as long as you could remember. But why would she be nervous, you thought to yourself.
“Last night–”
“I saw something,” you interrupted. “Or some things,” you corrected, goosebumps rising along your arms as you thought about the turtles.
April sighed. “I know.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “What exactly were they? And what was attacking us?”
And so she began.
She told you everything; the turtles, Master Splinter, Shredder, the Kraang, mutagen. It was a moment of trust, a moment of trusting in one of her favorite people–one of the only people she had left.
“And now that you’re going to be living here,” April began.
“Then I should learn how to defend myself,” you finished for her.
She nodded, letting out a sympathetic sigh. “I’m so sorry for dragging you into this.”
You shook your head, grabbing her hands to hold within your own. “’United we stand, divided we fall’,” you quoted, a quote both your parents had said to you multiple times as children. “If you need another addition to your army, then count me in.”
As you both walked through the tunnels of the sewers, you kept your nose plugged.
“Does the smell get any better?” you groaned.
She nodded. “You get used to it; I had to live down here for a few weeks.”
You nearly gagged at the thought, before entering the lair.
There they were, once again. The red masked one was punching a large punching bag, the blue masked one was sitting in front of a television whilst the orange masked one sat next to him, pizza in hand. Pizza?! The fourth one was nowhere in sight.
April gestured. “Y/n, these are the turtles,” she pointed to the red masked one, “that’s Raph,” she pointed to the blue masked one, “Leo,” she pointed to the orange masked one, “Mikey,” she paused, looking around.
“Where’s Don-”
“Hi, April!” a voice exclaimed, nearly scurrying over to you both with a blush painted on his cheeks.
She rolled her eyes playfully. “And, that’s Donnie.”
Supposedly, after getting permission to bring you to the lair from Master Splinter, she’d warned them that you were coming.
Leo looked over, his eyes finally peeling away from his show with a smile. “How’s your head feeling?” he asked, walking toward you.
You shrugged, gently blushing at the sudden attention. “It’s, uh, better now, but I don't think I hit it too hard to begin with.”
“Actually,” Donnie spoke, “the impact wasn’t enough to cause a lot of bleeding, but it'll be bruised for the next couple of days.”
You frowned. “W-were you the one who took care of my head?”
He nodded, invisible eyebrows furrowed in query.
“Oh, thanks,” you said softly, “it’s healing really fast.”
He blushed, about to say something in return before his orange-masked brother interrupted him by running up to you.
“Well,” Mikey began, “I was the one who saved you a slice of pizza!”
The gang groaned in disgust; the slice of pizza had lint, worms, and an undetectable bug species sitting on top of the cheese.
“Mikey, did you get that from under your bed?!” Leo scoffed.
Mikey smirked. “Mayybeee,” he eyed the slice. “It’s still good though, I think.”
He grinned at you, but could see the disgust in your appearance. He hung his head. “I guess I’ll just eat it,” he sighed.
You felt horrible, but in all honesty, the sight alone made your stomach churn.
“Y/n,” you heard, distracting you from the moldy pizza.
You looked up, seeing the one and only Master Splinter. He looked completely different than how you’d pictured him in your head; he was much taller than you expected. He walked closer to you, until you were just feet apart.
“April has told me a lot about you,” he began, his voice soothing to the ear. “I hope that you fulfill my wish to keep my sons and I a secret.”
You nodded. “Of course, urm, Master Splinter.”
He nodded, before calling the turtles to train with him.
“See you latah, Dudette,” Mikey bid with a wink, before running off to train with his brothers.
April looked at you, an eyebrow cocked at the deep blush on your cheeks.
“What?” you asked shyly.
“Nothing, Dudette,” April mocked with a grin.
You began to spend multiple days of the week at the lair with April and Casey, even bringing your homework down there after school; Master Splinter offered to train you, and you obliged. Mikey would be over your shoulder, asking you questions about your homework even after Leo had told him to give you some personal space.
But you began to feel comfortable with the turtles, and you started to open up and reveal your personality.
“Hey Mikey,” you announced, walking up to him in the kitchen. “Want to go train with me?”
You could have sworn that his pupils grew the size of bowling balls, and he was there with his nunchucks in no time.
You began training with the turtles, almost always with Mikey, though he refused to fight back or hit you. You’d share a pizza after, watch television, and eventually take a nap before he’d have to leave for patrol.
“You’re getting so good, Dudette!” he exclaimed after training, shoveling pizza slices into his mouth.
You blushed. “Thanks, Mikey...” You rolled your eyes as you watched him finish the box to himself. “Do we really have to eat pizza everyday?”
“Yesss,” he said in a sing-song voice. “I love days like this; it’s my two favorite things!”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “What?”
“You and pizza, duh!”
Your cheeks heated up, and you pressed a kiss onto his green freckled cheek.
“Thanks, Mikey. You know, if it weren't for you and your brothers saving me from those Footbots, then I wouldn't even be here,” you pointed out.
He grinned. “That makes me, like, a hero!”
You planted a kiss onto his lips, causing him to nearly melt into the floor.
“My hero,” you corrected.
Why do I not have the option to copy and paste formatting? Why is that an option I am not given? Who thought that I wouldn’t need that when I’m on my phone? Screw that guy, who I am arbitrarily calling Adam. If anyone knows how to do that, please tell me.
Chapter 6 Pt 2
“There is no fucking way you got a date with her.” Raphael does not even look it up. “No way in hell.”
“And yet the flow chart worked.” He laughs from his lab, shutting off any excess equipment as to not overwork it. “It worked like a charm and she asked me to go to her place so ha.”
”You didn’t show her the chart, did you?”
“I did not.”
“Well, there you go.” Leo looks back at him from his seat on the couch. “What time?”
“Seven o’clock.” He slides the door closed. “But I’m planning on being there at six fifty-five so that she knows I value her time.”
“Does the sun set that early?”
“Why do you even ask?” Raph turns a page in his once periodical periodical. “You know he looked it up.”
“As a matter of fact, I did. Forgive me for also valuing preparedness.”
“Nobody likes a know it all.”
He grins smugly. “That’s where you’re wrong. See, I,” he gestured to himself, “have a date with a gorgeous girl tonight, one where she has already invited me into her home, and you,” he gestured to Raphael, “are reading a magazine from a company that went out of business two years ago alone.”
“Donnie, don’t be a jerk.” Leonardo looked back at the television. “Raphael brings up a valid point; you tend to act like you know everything, and the actual request wasn’t for a date.”
“How else can I interpret one on one time with her?”
“Well,” he counters, “how do you interpret one on one time with us?”
He blinks. “Wait, so you’re saying she’s… how do you put it?”
“Nah, I don’t think she’s friendzonin ‘im.” Mickey looks up from his drawing. “Think she’s sending signals she doesn’t mean to.” He sets his half-shaded piece aside. “Think about it; she said she’s been all stressed out, right? She died like two weeks ago.” He shrugs. “She’s probably just lonely and needs the company.”
“That’s… actually really insightful of you.”
He grins. “What can I say? I’m a modern McPherson.”
Raph snickers at that. “Donnie is more of a McPher—how old is that movie, anyway? A hundred?
“Hey!” He shoots a glare at his brother. “Respect the classics.”
“Not to interrupt your riveting intro to film class,” Donnie interjects, losing his shit, “but I really need to know what this is before I go, and it’s already fifteen ‘till.”
“Look, maybe she’s interested, maybe she’s not.” Leonardo’s eyes are back on the screen. “Just try to tread carefully and you’ll probably be fine.”
“Probably?”
“Again, Raph had a point.”
He groans, walking to the entrance and exit of their home. “You guys aren’t helping.”
“Not our job.”
Leo calls after him. “Be home before six!”
He turns the corner, cradling his head in his hands. ‘I am totally and thoroughly fucked.’
--
GoodFellas.
Of all the movies in the world, that is the movie you have decided to use to explain these concepts. This is the example piece that you are going to show to the vigilante. All you know is that you had started watching the Phantom Menace and had decided against explaining the concept of racial coding and this is the only other movie that you can think of right now. You have decided to commit, and you are already regretting it, but you decide to figure it out as you go.
You set the pizza on the coffee table, throwing a bag of popcorn in the microwave to pop. You do not expect Donatello to be late, so you decided to start now so that they could get started right away. You start walking to the window, stopping at the mouth of the hallway. You look yourself over one more time in the bathroom mirror despite yourself. You do not exactly know why you care so much; this was not a date, and you had not advertised it as one. Still, impressions are important, and the last thing you need is for him to not listen to you because of it. That is what you are telling yourself, anyhow.
You hear knocking against the glass. You check your phone for the time. ‘Five minutes early.’ You smile softly. ‘How responsible.’ You open it up, smiling at your guest. “Welcome, Donatello.” You take a step back. “Please, make yourself at home.”
He barely makes a sound as he steps off the windowsill, looking around your apartment, fully illuminated, for the first time.
After about thirty seconds of his investigation, you clear your throat. “Donnie?”
He snaps out of it. “Huh?”
You smile gently. “You wanna sit down? I bought pizza.”
“Uh, yeah.” He nods, sitting down and facing the television screen. “I like your place.”
“Thanks.” You sit down next to him, tucking your feet under you as you flip on the television. “How do you feel about gangster movies?”
“Gangster movies?”
“Yeah.” You list a couple on your fingers. “Scarface, Godfather, all that jazz.”
He shakes his head, brow furrowed in confusion. “How can you make gangster movies legally?”
“That is a long answer. The short version?” You lean forward, taking a slice from the box. “The police are kind to those who cooperate, and people think their stories are fascinating.”
“So they’re documentaries?” He mimics you.
You shrug. “Sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. You want something to drink?” You hear the microwave beep as you stand up.
“Water?”
You nod, walking over to pull the popcorn out of the microwave and grab your drinks. “I trust the walk wasn’t too bad?”
“Not at all.” The small talk is torture. “Getting to your window was a bit of a challenge, but it wasn’t anything too bad.”
“That’s good.” You pour him a glass. “I’ll have to get something for that; maybe a planter or something, so you have a bigger ledge.”
“It’s alright.” He taps his fingers against his knee. “It’s wide enough to stand.”
“Still.” You place his cup on the counter, dumping the kernels into a large plastic bowl. “I wouldn’t forgive myself if one of you guys got hurt trying to come in through the window.” You grab a can of soda out of the refrigerator, sitting down and handing him the glass.
He smiles slightly. “You’re really sweet sometimes, you know that?”
You grin. “I try,” you hum, starting to pull up the movie. “I think you’re pretty cool too, Hamato.”
He chuckles. “You make me sound like I’m fifty.”
“Oh, totally.” You nod in agreement. “You’re an old soul.”
He blinks. “Old soul?”
“Mature, I mean.” You shrug. “I mean, handling the stuff you do with any degree of tact, to me, displays a great maturity you don’t see in most teenagers, myself included.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
You get back up for napkins and plates. “Not at all.” You hand him one of each. “It’s an admirable quality, though not one I particularly envy.”
“You think?” His hands linger for a moment longer than typical as he took them.
“Yeah. You want me to turn down the lights for the movie while I’m up?”
His face goes red. “I-I mean,” he stutters, “if you want to.”
“Then I will; shows the image better when it’s dark.” You walk to the wall, flicking off the lights and sitting down next to him, setting your slice on your plate as you turn on the movie.
Your reactions to it are different.
He does not seem what you would call disturbed, but he gets grossly invested in the story extremely quickly. He is noticeably more interested in watching you watch the movie, but he studies the plot intently, noting the more domestic plotline between the lead and his wife in particular. His reaction to the violence is strange to you; he is not aloof, so to speak, but he does not flinch much until the fighting is between Henry and Karen.
You have seen this movie what feels like a thousand times. Whenever you think it applicable, you lean over and whisper to him about the directing, the script, the plot—it is supposed to be a lesson, after all. But you realize that your attention, every so often, shifts to the bed, to your pillow with the knife underneath it. The violence of the movie makes you edgier than you are used to.
About halfway through the movie, you move closer to the boy sitting beside you. You lean your head against his shoulder, closing your eyes as you listen for cues for comments. You don’t notice his reaction, but you do notice how his arm snakes around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You do not object; you were the one who initiated, after all.
“Here’s a psychology relationship thingy you can tell your family about.” You cringe at that poor little girl standing in the hallway. “’That’s all in your head’ is classic gaslighting. I dunno if that’s really your area or not.”
“Oh, yeah, I see what you mean.” He fiddles with the cloth of your jacket absentmindedly. “It’s kinda hard for me to wrap my head around, people staying like that. I mean,” he clarifies, “I get why, but—”
You both tense up as a young man on screen is shot dead by Joe Pesci’s character.
You exhale. “Yeah, I get what you mean.” You shrug. “But folks get scared, ya know? In her case, she doesn’t want to break the family apart, and she’s really into him.”
“What? No way.”
“Yes way.” You look up at him. “What can I say? We fall into infatuation so fast with bad people who say what we want to hear.”
“Don’t you mean fall in love?”
You watch as Lorraine Bracco holds a gun to her husband’s face. “Nope. Love is entirely different.”
“Yeah?” He glanced down at you.
“Apples and oranges.” You gesture to the television. “Love is supplementary, a beautifully imperfect connection between people.” Your voice becomes smoother, airier. “It’s a bond built on trust and respect. Infatuation is more of an addiction than anything.” You sigh as Liota meets to discuss his relationship with Sorvino. “At least I think so. That’s why love at first sight is a bunch of bullshit; you can’t have that kind of profound trust with someone you just met.” You shrug, looking back up at him. “Then again, what do I know? I’m an inexperienced, fifteen-year-old girl.”
“That makes a lot of sense, actually.” He looks back down at you. “I get what familial love is, but whenever Master Splinter talks about his wife, he has a hard time putting what he means into words.”
You hear their guilty verdict. “Totally get that. Articulation is not easy to do.”
A few minutes go by.
“May I be frank?”
“Please.”
You watch as a man drags his wife out of a Christmas party. “This movie is exactly why I don’t ever want to learn how to do the stuff you do. It changes you, all that violence; desensitizes you.” You bring your knees to your chest. “Especially Raphael. I swear, that shift was as dramatic as his, at least at this point in the flick.”
He pauses. “Please, tell me you’re kidding.”
You close your eyes, breathing slowly. “I’m going to try my best,” you swear, “do everything in my power, to see to it that you guys don’t experience more than you have to.”
You mean it. He can tell.
You two are quiet for the rest of the movie. You explain why certain directing choices were made, connect the beginning with the end, talk about the theme, all while you two watched their fall from grace. When the movie ends, you realize how tangled up in him you are; your head on his chest, legs draped over his with his arms around your waist. You feel the icy air against you, as if his skin attracted it to you. You push the hair out of your face. “So,” you stretch, turning the light back on, “do you wanna see another movie, or do you have a curfew?”
He pauses. “I should honestly probably get home,” he sighs. “If I’m not home early they’ll start getting ideas.”
“Oh, yeah.” You nod, completely understanding the reasoning. “You can take the leftover pizza home if you want; the guys’ll probably eat it before I do.”
“Mikey’ll be on cloud nine.” He picks the box off the coffee table. “Thanks.”
“Any time.” You stand at the window, opening it for him.
He climbs onto the windowsill, looking down at you from his perch. “I had a good time.” His face flushed. “We should do this again.”
You nod in agreement. “Definitely.” You rub the back of your neck. “I’ll pick a lighter movie next time.”
“Alright. It’s a plan.” He gives you a thumbs up.
You steal yourself, cupping one side of his face and kissing him gently on the cheek. “Goodnight, Donnie.” You smile. “See ya tomorrow.”
You are a bit concerned he’s going to fall off the windowsill. “Y-Yeah,” he grinned, words slurred. “See ya later, Y/N.” He waved, climbing up and out of your window.
You smile softly, sigh. You flop back on the bed, rolling over. You have not been this at ease since you died.
‘I really like that guy.’ You close your eyes. ‘I really, honestly do.’
You drift off to sleep, dreamless for the first time in too long.
Never too late - 6 - 7
A continuation of Leo and Regulus’ attempts (antics) to give Regulus the childhood he never had.
CW: Food talk
Please message me if you feel I need to add any content warnings
Previous and future chapters can be found on my masterlist
Credit for the sweater universe and the characters within it go to @lumosinlove. What a hero.
[This is currently unedited, and I'm not that happy with it, but also my writing mojo has decided it is vacay time so it is what is it]
6. Go to camp! You’ll make friends for life.
“Le! Did you order something?” Finn called, appearing in the doorway of the kitchen carrying a large box.
“Yeah, it’s the t-shirts,” Leo nodded, scraping the onions he’d just chopped into the pot. “Put it on the island for me please, babe.”
Finn looked down at the box, making a show of testing its weight before he looked back at Leo with wide eyes, “This seems like...a lot.”
After adjusting the temperature on the stovetop slightly, Leo washed his hands and made to inspect the delivery. “Err, yeah. Potts got wind of the plan and got all excited. Half the team are coming now,” he smiled sheepishly.
“Of course that happened,” Finn threw his head back with a laugh. “You might as well make it a thing.”
“A thing?” Leo repeated, throwing Finn a bemused look.
“Uhh huh,” Finn nodded.
“I’m gonna need more, babe,” Leo said, lifting one of the shirts out of the box and running the material through his fingers, humming a note of approval.
“More shirts? There’s like 50 here,” Finn frowned.
“No, love,” Leo laughed, shaking his head “More on what a ‘thing’ is.”
“Ohh, got you,” Finn chuckled, leaning against the counter. “I just meant, if half the team is coming anyway, you might as well invite the other half. Get the kids involved. You know, a thing.”
“That’s not a bad idea, actually,” Leo cocked his head.
“Well, I did go to Harvard,” Finn shrugged, rooting around in the fruit bowl to find a suitable pear. One that wasn't too big because Finn got bored of flavours quickly and could never finish them. One that wasn't too soft, because he hated the sticky mess on his hands. In the early days of their relationship, Leo had been excited for the adventures that were going to come with his boyfriends, but he hadn't been prepared for how much the little nuggets of information he would discover about them would mean to him. The satisfied smile that appeared on his Finn’s face as he procured the perfect one was infectious.
“Such big brain energy and yet he still can’t load a dishwasher,” Leo retorted, motioning to the stack of crockery that had been abandoned on the counter.
***
“I have no idea why I put up with you,” Regulus scowled, covering his eyes with his hands. “Okay, I promise I can’t see.”
“Because I’m your best friend, obviously,” Leo replied, making a stupid face to ensure that Regulus was, in fact, telling the truth, and began to lead him towards the back door.
“Obviously,” Regulus drawled. “Do I get a choice in this best friend business?”
“Well, you can try and resist it if you want, but I am incredibly loveable and inevitably you will have to succumb to my charm so you might as well just deal with it,” Leo said.
Regulus gave a resigned sigh, “I suppose as best friends go you aren’t too bad.”
Leo laughed, punching Regulus lightly in the shoulder before telling him to watch out for the step up into the back yard.
“I hope you know that if I break my neck, you will be paying for -” Regulus started.
“Wegggie!!” Harry shouted through a mouthful of graham crackers that James had been trying to buy his silence with.
“Is that?” Regulus pulled his hands from his face, his eyes going wide at the scene in front of him. Leo had to admit he may have gone a little overboard with the execution of the summer camp. What had started off as a few classic summer camp activities had turned into a carefully planned extravaganza. There was a climbing wall and he’d hired an events team that taught archery. Between the games of dodgeball and capture the flag, there would be time for tye-dying, friendship bracelet making, water balloons, tug of war and much more. Of course he hadn’t skimped on the food either: burgers, pizza, vegetable sticks, taco salad and hot dogs; there was a long buffet table laden with an endless supply.
Regulus pulled Leo back inside, tugging him further into the kitchen so that the crowd of Lion’s players and their families couldn’t see them. “Leo, this is too much.”
Leo looked at Regulus trying to read his friend, but the other boy was infuriatingly closed off. “Look, if you really don’t want this, I’ll go and tell everybody to enjoy themselves and we can get out of here.”
Regulus huffed out a breath, “It’s not that I don’t want to...it’s...it’s weird everybody being here. They are obviously just here because you asked them and I feel like an add on.”
“Okay, let me stop you right there,” Leo held up a hand. “You practically live at Kris’ house the amount of time you spend there with Avie. Celeste loves you like a seventh? eighth? child...honestly, I’ve lost track of how many children they’ve adopted at this point. You and Olli…”
“Alright, alright,” Regulus interrupted, “I get your point.” He cocked his head slightly, “Huh, I guess I didn’t realise how much I’ve settled here.”
“You need a second to process that or are you ready to go have some fun, because I think Harry might eat all the s’more supplies if we wait much longer.”
***
Leo leaned into Logan’s shoulder, smiling as he watched his boyfriend show Katie how to toast her s’more in the bonfire that crackled in front of them. He was admiring the softness of the French leaving Logan’s mouth, when Regulus plopped himself onto the large log they were sitting on, a sleeping Aveline clinging to him.
“Hey, Reggie,” Leo greeted, turning his soft smile to his friend. “You alright?”
“I’m good. I just wanted to say thank you,” Regulus nodded, shifting Aveline into a more comfortable position. Leo noticed that Regulus had added another 3 new friendship bracelets to his haul since he had last got a moment to catch up with him. “For all this. This day has been amazing. All of it. I’m not sure if summer camp would have been my thing really, but I never really got to do fun family garden parties either and this has been incredible. ”
Any reply that Leo was about to make was disturbed, by Aleandra dumping a water balloon over Marc’s head right in front of them, their loud screams causing Aveline to wake with a cry.
7.Decorate your room! Paint the walls, buy new bedding and pick some new accessories! Make it your space.
"Well," Leo set a pile of magazines on the bed with a soft thud. It was a little old-school, but he was adamant that it was easier to come up with a complete picture this way. "What do you like? You don't have to know exactly, but we can't go to Ikea without any idea." He let out a soft snort at the unintentional rhyme.
Regulus looked up at him, wide eyed, as if he'd just asked him to supply the solution for world peace. "I don't know," he shrugged, toying with the sleeve of his shirt.
"You must have some thoughts."
"I don't know," Regulus snapped. "I've never had to make these decisions before. There was no point liking anything, because our parents would do what they wanted either way." He spat the words, and despite how it made Leo feel he knew the anger was a sign of some sort of progress. Not even a few months ago, his friend had spoken about his childhood like it was just a different form of normal.
"I'm sorry," Leo apologised, climbing onto the bed next to Regulus.
"It's not your fault, is it," Regulus shrugged, tucking his knees to his chest.
"I shouldn't have pushed you for an answer," Leo clarified, moving the magazines out the way and dragging his laptop from the bedside table. “Look, how about we go through Pinterest and you can pick some pins you vibe with. I’m sure we’ll find a trend.”
“Yeah,” Regulus breathed, shuffling closer to Leo. “Yeah, okay.”
***
“What the hell, there’s more,” Regulus said in awe as they rounded another corner to be confronted by rows of rattan baskets.
“I think we’re nearly at the end.” Leo looked up from the map he was trying to follow, almost stumbling over the cart when Regulus came to a sudden halt.
“These are nice,” Regulus mused, picking up a walnut coloured weaved basket. “My towels will look nice in these.”
“I’m sure they would,” Leo chuckled. He shouldn’t have been so surprised by how quickly Regulus had gained an affinity for interior design considering how he had taken to honing his clothing style with such ease.
“Oh! But these are nice too.” Regulus turned to show Leo another basket, that was identical in every way except for being perhaps a shade lighter.
Leo groaned. They had been in the store for over 3 hours and the cart was overflowing. His friend was adamant he was going to pay his own way and considering the short amount of time he had played for Slytherin along with the legal fees to end his contract early, the man was having to learn to budget to be able to afford college. Leo had suggested that doing a couple of interviews would leave him with a fair buffer, but Regulus had wanted to put as much space between hockey and his new life as possible. Leo was supportive, but Regulus seemed to be having trouble getting out the habit of buying everything he wanted.
“Right, pick one and then close your eyes. We need to get out of here.”
***
“Up a little on the left,” Leo instructed, shaking his head as Regulus lifted the left side of the photo frame considerably. “No, not that much.”
“That’ll do.”
“It’s not straight!”
“Neither are you and you don’t see us complaining,” Regulus huffed as he adjusted the frame again.
“You’re just jealous,” Leo threw one of Regulus’ new cushions across the room, hitting him squarely in the back of the head.
“Eww,” Regulus deadpanned. “And please do not throw my things,” he glared, hugging the cushion to his chest.
Leo was about to make a comment back, but he was interrupted by Sirius clearing his throat in the doorway.
“Got you a present,” Sirius said, holding out a large bag.
“Sirius.” Regulus crossed his arms over his chest, his face set into a disapproving stare. “I told you -”
“Think of it as an early birthday present,” Sirius interrupted.
“My birthday is not for another 4 months.”
“Just take it. I promise I’ll let you do this the way you want, but you’ve got to let me buy you things every now and then too. That’s what big brothers do.”
Regulus sighed, crossing the room to take the bag from Sirius. “Thanks,” he muttered, the corners of his mouth lifting despite his best efforts. The smile spread further as he laid the mustard coloured herringbone throw he’d been salivating over in the small boutique they’d visited a few days prior.
“You’re welcome,” Sirius nodded. “Looks good in here, by the way. We’ll have to find you an apartment in New York that will be big enough to fit it all in.” he commented, walking away as he finished his sentence.
“I’m paying for the apartment!” Regulus called after him. Leo barked a laugh as Regulus ranted about stubborn humans on NHL wages. Regulus poked a finger at him. “You can be quiet. I know this was your doing.”
Sushi Time Night
Sushi Time Night
By: Roninhunt0987
X3 an idea Nekorockstarninja told me on,.. X3 the premise is that Suzuki takes everyone out to a sushi place that she knows of with a small prize contest if ya eat 5 plates of sushi ya get a small prize... Suzuki once attempted to do it on her but couldn't it but this time she brought back up which happens to be the ragtag Cast members of mine that will be aiding Suzuki to get what she needs... XD hilarity will ensue
Characters(C)belongs to their rightful owners
-that night in town-
Suzuki: -opens the doors to the Sushi place as she heads inside with the others- ^^ this is the Sushi place I spoke of... ^^; where I ate like 40 plates of Sushi and got some small prizes out of it... I tried to do it alone but couldn't do it... ^^ so yea Merrick: hehe -sniffs the air of the place- ^^ heh reminds me the time when I was a lil kid Espio's uncle Seraph brought my siblings and I with Espio to a Sushi place similar to this one
Espio: heh... brings back memories doesn't it?? Merrick: it really does
Espio: to this very day I still miss my uncle but he did raise ya well
Suzuki: wait wha
Jared: when Merrick's village got attacked Uncle Yamato told them to find a person named Seraph who happens to be Espio's uncle... Both Merrick and Espio grew up as kids so they're pretty close
Suzuki: oh wow I had no idea
Espio: now ya know Suzuki
Merrick: soon after Espio's uncle passed we split ways on our own.. we didn't get back together until the meterex war happened and worked together with tails and the others on the war effort I was just glad to See Espio again but hanging with Vector and Charmy,, ^^; dunno how he ended up with them but they're an okay sort when I met them I was quite unsure at the time but sometime after the war I accepted them as friends... any friend of Espio is my friend those were my words when I accepted them... ^^; well as for Espio paying rent I usually see him at the door delivering pizza...
Espio: uhm.... ya back when... uhhh Tails broke his arm and leg at the time when Miss Marine was around at the time... I wonder whatever happened to that girl?? Shadow: heh... who knows Marine The Raccoon: O.o there was a girl after my name
Tails: mmhmm when I had that extreme gear mishap I got badly injured both of em got me home and had me patched up
Espio: she was the one who greeted me at the door at the time when I delivered the pizza... told her why that I had to pay rent because Vector kept going broke
Merrick: this was way before I got my cybernetic enhancements at the time btw
Waitress: -sees Suzuki is here again and sees the big crowd thats with her- O.o oh wow I never knew I am seeing this the ragtag band of the Katos and Prowers and also others also... uhh follow me to the big room for a huge crowd and we'll be with ya shortly
Mikey: -chuckles- ya okay that was on me honestly
Raph: -gibbs slaps Mikey for it- .w. ya think Genius its no wonder ya being called a knucklehead at times
Shadow: .w. ya mean like knuckles
Knuckles: HEY WHAT THE HECK THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!!!
Tails: .w. uhm Knuckles remember that time ya got tricked for the first time by eggman when he yoinked the master emerald from ya when Sonic and I met ya the first time
Sonic: .w. ya dude ya even suckerpunched me while I was in super form
Knuckles: .w. sigh okay okay ya have a fair point there
Sonic: mmmhmm -drinks a lil bit of his Green tea-
Tails: -eating his sushi-
The others: -same-
-45 minutes later-
Everyone: -each got a prize thats given to Suzuki as for helping her out and such-
Roberto: ^^ well I do have to admit that was a wise decision to bring friends and family with ya to help eating the sushi and the prizes needed so when in doubt always have family and friends to help instead of taking it on alone
Suzuki: ^^ heh thanks
Merrick: ^^ the usual account that I usually pay for here Roberto and congrats to joining in helping Shiro with the bodyguard detail and uhh also my boy good on you of joining with Shiro on that detail also... ^^ so ya can get out more and such whenever Yuri goes on tour
Merrick: ^^ keep in mind when Yuri's band is in town expect us to be there so we can listen and watch
Yuri Niko: ^^ hehe count on it ya son will do a great job I just know he will
Merrick: ^^ of course and make sure he stays out of trouble also and make sure to have a calm mind and such... ^^; the boy has ADHD and Autism go figure
Connor The Wolf: ^^; ya pops has a point on that Yuri heh but don't worry Roberto will make sure I am kept in check hehe and Shiro also
Shiro The Floofyshark: heh ya damn right i'll make sure to do that
Roberto: indeed
Misha: ^^ so when ya tour
Yuri Niko: ^^ sometime around august or so however I do plan on coming here in town around october as the final spot before I go on break from my tour run so basically Megaville city is the final destination of my Tour around October and well... ^^ its gonna be on Your Birthday Misha
Misha: X3 Awesome I can't wait hehe
Yuri Niko: ^^ hehe yup
Shiro: -looks to Roberto and Connor- that means you two we got few weeks until august starts up... when August 1st starts up you two better be ready and also in gear got it.. our job is to make sure no one makes a move on Yuri or well in this case some random jackass decides to flirt on her... use of force is needed if the said person doesn't cooperate
Yuri Niko: .w. oh in this case if SP Vector decides to butt and such use of force is basically immediate
Roberto: ugggh ya mean the same jackass I had to ban last week from this establishment along with the other japanese places I own and etc
Connor The Wolf: =w= and the same numbskull who blew up my damn truck that my adopted parents got for me when I first got adopted
Yuri Niko: yup the very same cheap knock off of Vector who is also his sonic paradox counterpart if ya watched the sonic shorts collab series
Roberto: ohhh looking forward to it good thing I been practicing some new martial arts moves I can use on him
Connor The Wolf: and also the new Blade that Gladio gave me when he first fought against Giglamesh and passed it on to me since he wishes to keep using one of his older blades and such
Jared: wait what
Squall: gigalmesh... yes I know the guy when Odin went down he came into the picture and resumed doing Odin's job didn't know his name at the time but he seems to be obsessed with a certain sword... I think it was the Excalibur or somethin he didn't say
Cloud: wait Gladio fought him
Gladio: yup and also his pet also... seems the big guy really loves to fight on bridges
Jared: according to legend its considered tradition for him... huhn that explains why when I dueled Stupid Mario at the time thats also a bridge over some lava and etc
Merrick: and its also a wonder why we sometimes tell ya it was from too much video games that has him in it
Jared: .w. ya that explains it
Jennifer The Fox: -close to Yuri as she misses her parents as this was the go to place when she was a lil kid as her parents and herself went here a lot-
Yuri Niko: whats wrong??
Jennifer The Fox: I remember my parents and I went here in this very area
Roberto: ahhh I thought I recognize ya... my grandfather knew ya parents and you at the time... its a shame they been killed by a drive by shooter
Jennifer The Fox: uhm about that... he's already dead.. ^^ Misha took him out
Misha: .w. turned out it was the jackhole who participated the fall of my family's clan go figure
Roberto: ahh I thought so hence reason the streets near the coffee shop is quiet a lot now and also explains why my grandfather placed a memoriam shrine to honor them as their best customers...
Jennifer The Fox: is he still around
Roberto: ^^ as a matter of fact he is yes he's the one who got me to be who I am today on as I took of his job as he is retired now and still strong as an ox
Jennifer: ^^ can ya tell him I said hello and well... also thank you for doing the memorium shrines for them...
Roberto: ^^ i'll make sure to do that count on it
Suzuki: one more thing whos is gonna maintain the restaurants while ya away on bodyguard duty
Eos The Floofyshark: ^^ I can answer that... ^^ you see two metabots requested by Roberto will take over for a bit until october who also happens to make sure Claretta remains calm as those two happens to be her Metabots to protect her while Yuri is away
Roberto: ^^ yes that would be Foxsword and Foxuno they seem to have a nack of maintaining stuff besides what they do a lot at a delay basis they're gonna start doing my tasks sometime when Yuri begins her tour run and don't worry I already told Gramps on that detail already as he is aware that I am a sworn in Bodyguard for Yuri Niko during her tour he is actually proud of me after I told him
Eos The Floofyshark: ^^ mmhmm
Suzuki: ^^ good to know
Eos The Floofyshark: .w. they'll also make sure that SP Vector don't enter the building as they will use force if needed as a last resort
Roberto: oh ya and my grandfather knows about it too
Suzuki: thats good
Roberto: indeed
SP vector: -breaks through wall like the Kool-aid man- OH YA!!!
Roberto: ._.;;;;; SP Vector ya paying for the damage for that
SP Vector: .w. or else what
Shiro: .w. -gets out his desert eagle and shoots SP Vector in the balls- BLAM!!! SP Vector: OUGH!!! -on the floor- >< my overies
Claretta Niko: -sighs and does sign language of saying ya don't have any ya dingbat-
SP Vector: .w. what she say?? Raph: -facepalm- She said You don't any ya dingbat... what did ya fail sign language 101 or somethin punk
SP Vector: WHY DON'T YA SAY THAT TO MY FACE HOTSHOT!!! Raph: =w= oh its on...
Frenchie: 1 hour of pain later
SP Vector: -broken teeth and etc and in a dentist office- uggggh
TF2 Medic: :3 Next
SP Vector: AHHHHHHHHHH!!! -crashes through wall as he runs away-
TF2 Medic: -scratches the back of his head in confusion on why he did that and shrugs and calls the next patient in-
Scene: -does a smart fart noise of blacking out-
TFS Nappa: .w. the end
-XD END XD-
