The thing is, Jayce's speech in episode 9, to me, is only salvageable if Jayce is deeply, romantically and sexually in love with Viktor.

"Your imperfections make you beautiful"* makes very little sense in the context of Viktor's descent (ascend?) to hextech godhood and human annihilation, because it wasn't his "imperfections" that took him down that road! Viktor had very little problem with his "imperfections"! He's lived with them his whole life and has made peace with them! But you know what he didn't make peace with? What he had a pretty big problem with? Dying. Viktor didn't want to die so he grasped at any straw he could find and, unfortunately, lost parts of himself along the way.

So when seen through that lens, Jayce's speech comes off as downright ugly.

However, do you know what problem Viktor seems to have very much had due to his "imperfections"? That Jayce would've probably been aware of due to how closely intertwined they were? Viktor saw himself as undesirable.** And he's made peace with it! He accepted it as a part of his reality that cannot be changed!

So to have Jayce come in swinging, after everything, and speak about beauty and imperfection and specifically call Viktor beautiful... Like. If it's not addressing the part of Viktor that cannot conceptualize himself as such, and it's not coming from Jayce's genuine desire, what's the point?

**at least that's my reading of it, Sky's crush was just too obvious and even when he got access to her notes he didn't even consider the possibility of her wanting him beyond a conversation partner and someone to bounce ideas off.
