rereading vowbreaker and thinking back to obi-wan saying he's made about a 50 page marriage contract in the wedding planner and how there's probably something there that says if he ever died anakin could never marry or even hold romantic interest for another person because death will not part them and anakin will always be his husband. so in his fake death he at least knows anakin can't do anything as a comforting thought meanwhile his husband is falling deeper into insanity.

She wants to earn Hopebringer before her legs give out for good.

But first, she needs to find out what happened to her little sister. First, she needs to find the man who has disappeared just as untraceably, thirty years later.

First, she needs to end the Shadow of Fowden.

For she is not her father; she does not break her vows.

underrated funny scene in twp was when Lleu was rightfully angry that Medraut drugged him up without his permission and Medraut went off inside his head how the twins usurped his place in his father's heart and hearth and he suffered more than Jesus Christ on the cross and now even Goewin has sided with Lleu against him and he has to promise not to do it again and then asking "Am I that cruel?"🥺 as he constructs his promise in such a way it allows him to poison his brother in the future without becoming a vowbreaker

I just think that the in-game nameplate for Braham should've briefly changed to "Braham Vowkeeper" when you find him during the conclusion of Champions. just to reflect "Vowbreaker" during the earlier half of IBS

Warlock comes from Old English, meaning "oathbreaker" or "vowbreaker".

And it refered specifically men who had learnt dark magic, which was associated with the Devil, and thus they had broken their baptismal vows with g-d.

The war bit meant "true" and by extension "faithful" and "promise" and the lock bit basically meant "liar", so if you're being very literal it's something like "truth-liar" or "promise-liar", but "oathbreaker" is a better translation.

In medival times (from around year 1000) the word was used specifically for men whom specifically worked for the Devil.

the reason at the end of the day criston cole is such a fascinating character is because he got invented to be a symbol of knighthood and the kingsguard as agents of state violence while also following personal ambitions and status and how you cannot do both and yet are put into the position to, for a feast for crows, easily the best book in the series. and then that big ol pile of symbolism wished really really hard on an evening star to be a real boy and then in fire and blood that wish came true

The first stumbling block comes sooner than expected. 

It’s also incredibly embarrassing.

Fett looks away from him, drops his smile and drops his eyes as he walks with purpose to the elevator. It is something that Skywalker has always appreciated about Cody Fett, though he’d never in a million years fess up to admiring anything about the second-in-command. But it has to be said, now at the end of the world and all things soft and precious and beautiful, that the man has always been made for action. He jumps before you can tell him how high. He doesn’t even ask; you never have to tell him twice. 

There is a plan, established between the two of them. Loose as it may be, it’s still a plan. And plans have steps, have actionable items that must be carried out.

And Fett is a man of action.

Finding clothes to wear is difficult, but it is done with extreme precision. There is no place in the entire world Anakin Skywalker knows better than this loft apartment. He has every detail memorized, locked into his mind, etched into the very fabric of his soul. So Vader knows how to sidestep the ghosts, avoid the landmines of memory so long as he doesn’t think too long about why. About how his home became a warzone, became full of fire and ash and and and

And yeah I'm not like opposed to "hero's start some where" but my feeling is they've gone to the "shady dude turns his life around" a few too many times.

And with Logan it doesn't fit his character IMO.

Also as far as DE being the first to work with other races, meh that's in GW 1. And the order of Whisper, the Vigil and priory either are older or formed around the same time. Once again I believe you. I just think Anet has too many cooks in the kitchen and the right hand isn't telling the left hand what's going on.

I don't mind it's nobodies that change the world I think it works better for DW than it does DE.

Also so much story content being in dungeons when it's falling out of fashion to do them. Boils my blood. lol just make it scale you walnuts!

I think Loyalty being the core of any given guardian would have been an amazing thing to explore especially with the main guardian we deal with is called Vowbreaker. He formed a new guild and abandons them? Granted they were supposed to safe at jora's keep. But why wouldn't they go to holbrok with him and rox? Like why is this just throw away lines when it's his guild?

Logan is tore up snaff dying and meanwhile a whole guild DE 2.0 is just wiped. That was just a fucking weird then to do.

Getting off track per usual.

But yeah you can chalk DE rifts coming down to cultural differences. Logan not understanding that Rylock actually cares for him like family. Eir and Snaff not feeling attached to the humans dying because they're singled minded and think of conflicts in very different ways. And Caith just being vibes because of her youth and naïveté.

Which again. Is why it such a good idea to make Logan the grounded one of the group. Snaff needs to be high minded but not necessarily practical. Eir being spiritual and believer. Caith once again needing to try having the hope of youth. Rylock willing to die because that's what he was trained for and that's what he believes is. And Logan is just like "I can't let all of a city with the woman I love, die for a chance."

Like real.

Anet could have done SO much with the Destiny's Edge split-up. How to deal with toxic friendships, how to healthily respond to blame and guilt, how to distance yourself if necessary...

Not necessarily by PORTRAYING those things (DE is as dysfunctional as it gets), but by showing the opposite, the bad habits and thoughts we fall into.

The sheer contradiction of "I miss them but I'm glad they're gone."

Like those relationships were SO GOOD and then they got SO BAD and like. That should be talked about more.

Marika Swiftfoot owes her life to the Shadow of Fowden, the sorceress leader of a terroristic crime syndicate based in the north pole. When the man she once loved finally comes to collect on that life debt ten years later, she plans to kill him the moment it's safe. Too soon, after all, and everyone else she's ever loved will join him beyond the Veil. But hate isn't the only feeling that lingers between them, and when they're offered another way out of their debts, the lives of a few innocents looks like a bargain compared to the life of cruelty ahead of them. Lorelei has been hunting the Shadow for twenty years, and looking for the sister who disappeared for thirty. And here, names are legacies: she wants to earn Hopebringer before her legs give out for good, to erase the stain her father's name has left with Vowbreaker. THE LOST

Space opera webcomic. First scene fully illustrated; will release once the first chapter is complete, a week after Patrons receive the final scene. In the far reaches of space, the term "Media Empire" is quite literal; the Watchers have extended their influence throughout their galaxy filament with the help of their beloved Coliseum, and the Champion therein. After all, having a shapeshifter capable of replicating anything leads to some gruesome, spectacular fights, made all the more heartrending when they are the last of their kind, trapped in the ship molded from their kin's corpse. But while the Watchers have total control over what happens in the pit, they cannot predict the audience. And they certainly cannot predict the malfunctioning psychic implant of an assassin in the front row, and the loss of both opponents and a long-time prisoner of war to the escape.
