Harry and Vorik have the same idea for streamlining ship operations within the same week, so Janeway assigns them to work on it together. Harry has a surprising amount of trouble working with Vorik, and asks B'Elanna how she manages. She brings him sparring to blow off steam.
Tom walks in while B'Elanna and Harry are sharpening bat'leths in a holographic cave, and asks what's up. B'Elanna answers that she's "helping Harry with his people skills." Tom leaves in a hurry, humming the Twilight Zone music.

Good Catch
This is just a little plot bunny that hopped into my brain. Literally no idea why, it just happened. So...enjoy! 😇

Vorik (ST:VOY) x Reader
[A/N: This is fluff with mild suggestiveness and a brief mention of a previous instance of Pon Farr.]
Warnings: Interspecies romance, Human/Vulcan romance, mild fear, idiots in love, both think their feelings are unrequited, mutual pining, angst, brief mention of past Pon Farr, spoilers for ST:VOY S3E16 "Blood Fever", mild spoilers for ST:VOY S4E1 "Scorpion Pt. 2", the beginning would make more sense if you watch S4E1 first but it's not entirely necessary, and I assume that you've seen "Blood Fever" if you're reading Vorik fanfics, so...🤷‍♀️, kissing, Vulcan hand-holding, touch telepathy, idk what else to put here because it's really just fluff.

The tension on the ship was already palpable when the chaos started. Everyone was on edge because of our uneasy alliance with a Borg cube, wondering how long it would be before they turned on us and tried to assimilate Voyager. The fact that Species 8472 had turned out to be hostile as well did nothing to alleviate the crew's stress.
With enemies in front of and behind us, all we could do was try to prepare to the best of our ability. I just hoped it would be enough. Vorik had been silent on our way to Engineering for the start of our shift. The silence itself wasn't troubling - Vorik was often contemplative early in the day - but the small frown just barely pinching his brows together...that was worrying.
Inquiring about his well-being had earned me no more than a noncommittal, murmured deflection. All I could think to do was give him a gentle smile and rest one hand briefly on his shoulder. Shockingly, that seemed to help. His forehead relaxed, smoothing out into his usual, calm, neutral expression.
For the next few hours, I noted that whenever I glanced over at his station, the Ensign seemed to have retained whatever sense of ease he'd regained in the corridor that morning.
Soon, however, all thoughts outside of my duties were wiped away. Red alerts began blaring, and it was all hands on deck as we struggled to regain control of Voyager from the Borg.
I'd just begun to cross the second level to access a different terminal when the ship gave an almighty jolt. Before I could brace myself, I was thrown toward the warp core. The low railing struck my back, and I let out a yelp of pain and fear as I began to tumble over the side.
Instead of finding myself flattened or shattered by the fall, however, a vice-like grip on my arm stopped my momentum and tugged me against a sturdy, warm chest. I grabbed at the shoulders of my savior, trembling with residual shock. Only after the ship steadied itself did I manage to catch my breath and glance upward.
Looking down at me with a protectiveness that I had never before witnessed from him, Vorik's shining brown eyes met mine.
"Thank you," I managed to squeak out, but speaking seemed as difficult for him as I'd found it to be. Instead, he nodded his head once and pressed our foreheads carefully together. Vorik knew I was terrified of heights.
After a moment, though, we were forced to pull away from each other and go tend to our duties. Short-lived comfort was all we could manage at times like that. Being stuck in fluidic space after we'd been forced there by the last surviving Borg onboard Voyager was definitely not the right moment to become distracted by our personal tension, even if it had been growing for years.
I knew nothing would ever truly happen between us, though. If he'd seen me as a viable partner, Vorik would've approached me when his pon farr happened the year before. Instead he'd gone for B'Elanna Torres, and I'd forced myself to stay away from him.
I'd requested a transfer to the night shift so that I wouldn't be on duty at the same time as him, and the few moments where our schedules overlapped, I tried to find reasons to be busy in other places.
Yes, his interest in someone else had stung, so I decided that until my own stupid feelings cooled down a bit, I'd keep my distance. Mostly, I just didn't want to embarrass myself in front of him. After all, that Vulcan could read me like a book, and at that particular point, I didn't want him to ponder my emotional state too closely. If he hadn't caught on to the fact that I loved him prior to his pon farr, I certainly wasn't going to change that after he'd made his non-interest known.
I hadn't been rude to him in the aftermath, especially since he was being viewed so poorly by so many of the crew for attacking B'Elanna in engineering, but I hadn't gone out of my way to talk to him, either. The whole situation was a mess, and although I didn't want him to feel alone, I definitely wanted to limit the number of opportunities that I had to make an ass of myself.
Eventually, though, it all came to a head one morning when I'd just finished my shift. As I approached the hall where my quarters were, I saw a familiar head of fluffy back hair standing at attention outside my door.
"Vorik?" I called, and he looked quickly in my direction. Standing even straighter - a feat that I hadn't believed possible - the Ensign acted formally, as if he was addressing a superior officer.
"Ensign, forgive me for disturbing you at this hour, but I...had hoped to speak with you in private," he said in that low, gentle voice that I...oh, I'd missed him more than I anticipated! I blinked in surprise, and opened the door to my quarters, answering his question.
"Would you like some tea or water or something? I know you need to go on duty soon, and I have some extra replicator rations...?"
"Thank you, but no," he murmured as we made our way over to my sofa. We'd held many debates and conversations here over the years, but it had been something like two months since we'd been together like this. I took a seat, but when he remained standing, I looked up at him curiously. "May I?"
"Vorik, we've been friends since before we came aboard Voyager. You know you never need to ask permission to sit down." He seemed surprised by my response, which, in turn, surprised me.
"I did not know if..." he stumbled over his words for a moment as he perched awkwardly on the cushion beside me. "After the incident in Engineering, I was uncertain whether you would be...comfortable with my being in close proximity to you."
I was silent for a moment as I processed what he'd said.
"You thought I'd be afraid of you?" My voice came out as barely a whisper, and when he nodded his head, my heart shattered in my chest. He looked so vulnerable, so afraid that I was going to scream at him or throw him out of my quarters.
"It is the logical conclusion. You did request a transfer to a different shift, did you not?"
Of course he'd found out about that. I don't know why I expected that to remain a secret.
"Yes, but it wasn't because I was afraid of you, Vorik." That may not have been the whole truth, but it wasn't a lie. He seemed relieved, but I didn't want him to dig too deeply, so I changed the subject with a smile. "Now, what brings you here before your shift? How can I help you?"
"My main goal was to ascertain whether I'd frightened you. My subsequent objective..." he trailed off with his brow furrowed. "Upon reflection, I do not know whether this is logical, but I wished to determine what would be required to restore our prior level of interaction. I find myself...troubled by your absence, both in Engineering and in our leisure hours."
"You missed me?" The question slipped out before I could stop it, and just like that, it was Vorik's turn to look surprised.
"Of course. Did you believe that I would be indifferent or pleased to be without you?" Nodding my head, I watched as my friend cautiously moved closer to me on the sofa and placed his hands on my shoulders. "You lend me much metaphorical strength. I value your counsel...and your friendship."
My self-imposed isolation had ended that night. I spoke with B'Elanna and got transferred back to my original shift, which is why Vorik was there to save me when I nearly fell over the railing. If it hadn't been for him, I'd likely be lying in a crumpled heap on the lower deck by now. We'd rekindled our friendship after that lapse, but I knew it would never become anything more.
Regardless, Vorik had saved my life, and I resolved that once we were out of danger, I'd show him how grateful I was.
--
One minor war later, Vorik and I exited Engineering with the rest of our shift, and without a single moment's discussion, I found myself being led by a firm hand grasping my elbow.
"Vorik? Where are we going?"
"Patience." Was it my imagination, or was his voice rougher than usual? He sent the turbolift up before anyone else could board it, and the ride was filled with an undefinable sort of silence.
His grip slipped down from my elbow to my hand, and tingles erupted across my palm. He'd never touched my bare skin before. Vulcans were averse to such contact, and I'd always done my best to respect that boundary.
But he'd been the one to initiate this, not me. As the lift hummed along, Vorik's gaze slipped upward until our eyes met. A mere blink later, his eyes were hooded and hunger flooded his demeanor. Stepping closer to me with our hands still joined, the Ensign backed me up against the wall of the turbolift releasing a whisper of my name in that beautiful, low, silky voice of his.
The tingling in my spine intensified the longer he looked at me - and oh, did he look at me! His eyes seemed to bore right into my soul, stealing my breath and my thoughts with unerring skill. He'd looked at me before, but never the way I wanted him to...never like this.
That frightened me. Oh, the look itself wasn't disquieting, but the possibility that this could lead to something more – something that might damage my heart more than his preference of B'Elanna over me had a year before? That terrified me.
"I did not," he rasped, and I blinked in confusion. "I believed that you did not harbor the same regard for me that I did for you, and it was out of a desire to avoid needlessly damaging the relationship between us that I selected Lieutenant Torres. I did not wish to lose you. To equate yourself with her is the height of illogic, because none could ever compare with you."
Before I could respond beyond a stunned look, however, we arrived at the deck we'd been hurtling toward. The door hissed open, and he began tugging me through the corridors again. We passed through the door to Vorik's quarters, and everything clicked into place. He'd always preferred privacy, only allowing into his space those who needed to be there - like the Doctor and Lieutenant Tuvok.
And then there was me.
I'd never understood why he allowed me in when almost nobody else was permitted the same luxury, but suddenly it all made sense. I was allowed to be there when nobody else was because he trusted me enough to be vulnerable with me. He told me more about himself than he did anyone else. He spent more of his free time with me than anyone else. He knew more about me than anyone else did.
And I'd all but abandoned him after the incident with Torres! Guilt coiled hot and bitter in my gut, and I bit my lower lip. How did he not hate me? How could he have simply been content with our renewed friendship? He should've chewed me out or berated me–
My racing thoughts ground to a halt as the softness of his lips met mine.
Oh.
The kiss was gentle and brief, but it was easily the most tender gesture I'd ever received. When he pulled away just far enough to watch me open my eyes, his hands caught both of mine and lifted them to his chest.
"I...Vorik, that...isn't something friends do," I breathed, feeling like an idiot as soon as the words were out of my mouth.
"You are correct. It is not," he said with a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips, "but I had hoped that my attempts to demonstrate my interest were successful enough to convey that I desire you in more ways than a simple friendship will allow."
"Your interest?" I parroted, and he moved close enough that when I spoke, my lips brushed against his. The contact felt as warm as fire, as sweet as honey, and I was a starving. Ravenous for his touch, his affection, I craved him more than I had anything else in my entire life.
"You cannot have missed it. By Vulcan standards, I have been metaphorically throwing myself at you. Lieutenant Tuvok even suggested that I was being too overt." He grasped my waist, tugging me gently against him as his lips met mine again. A fleeting, barely-there peck later, my patience had stretched to the breaking point as I chased his retreating mouth with my own. "Is there something you need, ashayam?"
Blinking up at him, it occurred to me that he was doing this deliberately.
Vorik was teasing me.
And he looked almost proud of the reaction he'd drawn from me. Beautiful bastard.
"You," I whispered before I could talk myself into being more cautious. "All I need is you."
"Then you shall have me," Vorik promised as he lifted me into his arms and carried me toward his bed.

Star Trek Voyager fanwank with queer potentiality reading under the fold.
I've been plowing through Voyager and noticed the most interesting seeming plot discrepancy.
In "Counterpoint," the Voyager is clearly stated to have exactly two (2) Vulcan crew members, Tuvok and Vorik. In that same episode, we see them hiding in the transporter. Through season 7, these are the only two Vulcans we see on board.
Then, in "Repression," in season 7, we see a background character who appears to be a Vulcan woman, who is described on Memory Alpha as an "unidentified Vulcan female." Where did she come from? Has she been here this whole time?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously this is probably just sloppy writing, but I can think of three possible Watsonian explanations.
One: She's a Vulcan crew member who's been here this whole time, we just haven't seen her. She wasn't mentioned or shown in "Counterpoint," because she had some other hiding place, and maybe her personnel record was deleted or something. After all, Janeway was lying about what happened to the Vulcan crew members, so she could have been lying about the number of Vulcans as well.
Arguments in favor: This is the simplest explanation, probably the closest to writer intent, and is consistent with a previous line by Tuvok about "other Vulcans," plural, on the Voyager.
Arguments against: It's kind of sloppy writing that's also boring.
Two: She's a crew member who's been here this whole time, but she's not Vulcan. She's some other species that resembles Vulcans, like a Romulan, or a Romulan-Human hybrid. Alternately, she could be some sort of splinter Vulcan whose species might be Vulcan might not count as a Vulcan citizen of the planet Vulcan.
Arguments in favor: Consistent with "Counterpoint" canon; also, it's implied (but not directly stated) by her presence in that scene that she's a Maquis crew member, and it's not clear that there were Vulcans in the Maquis, or why there would have been, except for Tuvok going undercover (counterargument: Tuvok successfully going undercover implies that he didn't stand out, so there might have been other Vulcans around). A Romulan or part-Romulan Maquis member has narrative potential and could be an interesting parallel with Torres. Also, in the same scene, another character refers derisively to Tuvok as "the Vulcan," which would be astonishingly rude if there were another Vulcan right there.
Arguments against: She's listed in Memory Alpha as Vulcan.
Three: This "new character" is actually Vorik. She transitioned.
Arguments in favor: Consistent with "Counterpoint" canon. Reading Vorik as an egg adds significant character depth and explains a lot about Vorik. Trans representation is always good. Filling a plot hole with a queer explanation is praxis.
Arguments against: This character's uniform is red, while Vorik's is yellow. However, Vorik could have gotten reassigned to a different job. This character is implied (but not directly stated) to be ex-Maquis, which Vorik is not. However, maybe she was in the room for another reason.
Trans Vorik is my favorite option. I think there needs to be fanfic about this.

The Date (part two)
Part one
________________________________________
Strong hands glided elegantly over computer controls as Vorik returned to his Station. The young Vulcan was on break, and was planning on joining the others in the mess hall as he had not eaten yet, however determined as he was he decided to work out a view details before he ended his shift. Typical Vulcan perfectionism, as some of his co-workers liked to say.
After a view minutes, he put down his tricorder and sighed. Finally satisfied with his work, he gave a quick look around, checking how many people were currently in engineering. And he found himself seeking the face of a certain fellow ensign he saw yesterday.
Ensign (L/n)
You were not very close, in fact Vorik barely knew you. Only really interacting with you while in engineering, and even then you didn't interact much. Not surprising, he thought, given your shy nature. He'd overheard the other crew members talking about it on occasion, mentioning how irritating your nervousness and constant fidgeting was to them, whilst others expressed their concern at your scarce social life. And while Vorik tended not to get involved with the personal life of his fellow crew members, he had to admit- he was curious about your strange behavior as well. Especially your behavior toward him.
For it wasn't uncommon to find you looking at him from across the room, just to immediately avoid your gaze once he took notice. In fact, it seemed like you were trying to avoid him all together. Whenever you had to work together, or he was attempting to discuss something with you, you always kept your answers short, walking away quickly once he released you, so to speak.
And maybe, had you been Vulcan, Vorik wouldn't have batted an eye. But since you were not, he found himself wondering if maybe he had done something to warrant your strange behavior toward him. Perhaps, he thought, he should ask you about it. See if there was any way to make you feel more comfortable working with him.
His thoughts interrupted by the low growl of his empty stomach, the ensign  made his way over to the turbolift, leaving someone else to take his station.
The volume in the mess hall was low today. It had been like this the entire week, as well as the week before. Like most vulcans, Vorik appreciated the quiet, though unfortunately it came with a rather unwelcome side effect.
The lack of laughter and loud chatter made it much harder to forget the growing loneliness that came from being stranded away from home. Perhaps the conversation with you might make the silence a little more bearable, he thought.
Stepping further into the room, Vorik's eyes automatically scanned for your (h/c) hair, finding you almost instantly. You were sitting alone on a table in the far right corner, your gaze fixated on the stars as you held onto the cup in your hands. You looked sad. Perhaps you were lonely as well, he wondered as he made his way over to you.
"Good day, Ensign. May I sit with you?" he asked, noticing how your semi-relaxed body immediately stiffened up once you noticed him.
"I- well, y-yeah. Of course." You nodded, gesturing to the seat across from you. He took it, putting his hands on the table in front of him.
He eyed you for a bit. The other crew members seemed to be correct in saying that you fidgeted a lot. As you immediately started shifting in your seat, hands playing with the fabric of your yellow uniform sleeves. He also noticed that there was no food tray in front of you.
"Are you not hungry?" he tilted his head.
"Wha- oh. Yeah, no, not really." you hesitated for a moment "You?"
"Perhaps later." he nodded, thinking carefully about what he was gonna say next.
"Ensign, may I ask you a personal question?"
"Of course." You said gently, eyes wandering over his features, a look of worry on your face.
"Do you find it difficult to work with me?"
He watched as your eyes widened at the question, a blush now evident on your cheeks. He was not sure how to take your expression.
"Not at all!" you exclaimed, quieting down once you saw other people looking at you "In fact I believe you're amazing at your work, a-and at working with others. You have always been a great help to me, anyways. And I believe if you asked other members of the crew they would tell you the same th-"
"I was referring to you specifically." he gently cut you off. "I have come to notice your growing nervousness whenever I am near you. The way you play with your uniform and how you seem to be avoiding direct eye contact, all indications that you're not comfortable around me."
Vorik watched as you pressed your lips together and stared down at your lap, looking like a scolded child. It was cute, he thought.
"Is...my assumption incorrect?" he quired after he didn't receive an answer.
You looked back at him, contemplating your answer, before you sighed and looked away again.
"Not... entirely"
"I don't have anything against you, I-I actually...quite like you" you coughed, causing Vorik to raise an eyebrow.
"I suppose it's...because of that, that I get so nervous around you. Y-you know, being around someone you look up to and all that" you admitted, looking embarrassed, your face now a darker shade of red "I... apologize if I somehow made working with me difficult for you"
He was quiet for a moment.
Aside from your social struggles, your performance had been short of excellent, never coming too late or missing a shift and volunteering for work that no one else wanted to do. You were almost irreplaceable when it came to engineering. It made him wonder why you of all people would look up to him, considering that you were the same rank and you were easily as good as him, if not better.
"On the contrary. I enjoy working with you and find your precision and your ability to focus on the things at hand to be quite admirable, even refreshing." he watched as your face seemed to light up, a small smile tugging on the corners of your mouth.
"I'm glad to hear that." you gave him a genuine smile, before taking another sip of whatever you were drinking. Vorik watched you, eyes taking in your features like he'd never seen them before. He still had not eaten yet, however food didn't seem to cross his mind in this moment. He cleared his throat as you saw him staring.
"Perhaps, if we had the chance to get to know each other better you would not be as...nervous around me anymore. My quarters, 0600 hours?" he raised his eyebrows, already half expecting you to decline his offer, yet still hopeful that you wouldn't.
You blinked a few times, before looking at him with wide eyes. "I- yes, gladly" you stuttered. Surprised, but pleased by your answer, Vorik nodded and stood up. He left the mess hall, making his way to his quarters, something of a smile dangerously close to appearing on his face.

I love Vulcan going insane. It's funny because i love them for their repressed emotions and logical minds but at the same time? Watching a Vulcan lose composure? Watch them be completely illogical and emotional because of some alien influence? Best type of angst for me

What do you think about VorikxSeven ship? I haven't seen any fanfic of the ship (unfortunately) but after reading a reddit discussion about it (it was about something else, but it got sidetracked, lol) I started thinking…. What do you think? does it have potential? ? Would they be compatible?
Someone pointed out once that Seven and Vorik were the same age before they retconned her age so I've been the peanut gallery for many lively conversations about Vorik and Seven's potential arcs funnily enough.
I think early Seven and Vorik have more in common than people might think, and they could have done each other some good when she first came on board. They're both outcasts who struggle with their emotions, they're both missing a mental link that leaves them profoundly lonely, and they both interact with people in ways they find abrasive or off putting. But fundamentally I think they'd be oil and water and wouldn't last.
Vulcans are about control and Seven was just freed from oppressive control. There are elements of Vulcan culture that would be appealing to Seven, as I imagine a telepathic bond would be comforting for her after being disconnected from the Borg hivemind, but I'm not sure how good having a back door into tremendous amounts of trauma would be for Vorik. I also think Vorik would hinder her quest to get back in touch with her humanity (whether he intended to or not).
From Vorik's side, I think he is relatively flexible for a Vulcan but would have difficulty with Seven's rapid experimentation and non-traditional viewpoints. Their combined inexperience in the romantic area would also be quite disastrous.
Vorik absolutely needs a strong woman to step all over him but while I could see them having an awkward dalliance and amicably parting ways, I think they'd make each other miserable if they tried anything long term.
I do wish Seven interacted with the Vulcans on Voyager more. I really loved the little bits of her and Tuvok we'd get and I really liked that they touched on it in Picard.

hey there, i'm a 'long time listener, first time caller' just wanting to send some love and appreciation your way. i really enjoy reading your fics and look forward to all your updates! you sure know how to set a proper thirst trap <3
you actually gave me the kick i needed to binge babylon 5 because it was on my radar for some time. i had just finished ds9 a while back (not my first watch), and i was still jones-ing for some sci-fi. you made some posts about the show and the rest is history lol
after finishing the series a couple of weeks ago, my 'b5 blorbos' are bester, neroon, and g'kar. i have some very specific scenarios that currently play in my head that i'd love for someone as skilled as you to put out into the world. i can't wait until you open fic requests again! ;)
but in the meantime, i'm thoroughly enjoying all the other fics in your impressive catalogue. i came for the garak/reader stories (no pun intended!), but i stayed for the likes of koval, letant, vreenak, solok, vorik, and dukat.
again, kudos on continuing to post these fics, they're really well-written. some explicit material can be very tiresome and/or juvenile, but it's clear you have quality writing experience to back you up, and you have great instincts as to what works and what doesn't. keep up the fantastic work! <3
Aww, thank you so much!!! I'm so glad you like my stories! I'm just gonna come out and say it: I've been hoarding this ask in my inbox and re-reading it every time I needed a pick-me-up, so uh...I apologize for being so late to respond. This ask has just been giving me the very good brain chemicals. 😅
First off, thank you so so much for your kind words and for taking the time to jump into my ask box to say something about it! I really do appreciate your support! 💖
Second, omg you are (I think) the third person I have managed to convince that Babylon 5 is worth a watch! I'm so honored that I was able to give you the lil push you needed to finally try it out. (I'm still on Season 3, because I've been trying to savor new shows instead of unhealthily binging things to the point of sleep deprivation like I've done in the past lol.) I'm so glad you enjoyed the show and have new blorbos!! Bester is very intriguing to me. Neroon is Very Yes™. And G'Kar...OMG G'KAR. 😍 He's my main B5 blorbo, if I'm gonna be completely honest and truthful about the situation. (Hence the lorge, semi-elaborate fic that "Who Reads The Mind-Reader?" is about to become once the SoC challenge is over. 🙈) Andreas Katsulas did such an amazing job in that role that it's almost impossible not to like G'Kar.
As for my requests, when I do eventually re-open them, I will for sure be adding characters from B5 to my list of people I'm willing to write for, so I'm totally open to writing those for you! I'm so glad that you've been enjoying my other fics in the meantime! I've had a lot of fun writing all of them, so I'm always glad to hear that people are still enjoying them!
Thank you again for your super sweet words, my friend! 💖 I may not have any professional writing experience under my belt (yet), but I do have a couple of actual novels I'm working on, so at some point in the future when I've figured out the whole process of becoming a published author, that will hopefully change! Until then, I hope you continue to enjoy my humble little fanfics! 🙏💖 Happy reading!! Feel free to drop by any time!

FEVER FEBRUARY DAY 4: Fixit Friday
Tumblr media
What is a fixit fic, you wonder? It’s a missing scene, or usually a coda, and sometimes a complete rewrite of an episode that needs…more. More/better. Sometimes just a smidge more, sometimes a lot. Sometimes an episode needs a set up, or an argument needs an explanation, or a justification, or sometimes the episode simply needs a denouement.
A list (pulled from nowhere) of the top five six P/T episodes that need fixing accord to the sheer volume of fanfic codas/etc I’ve seen:
1. ENDGAME
Tom doesn’t get to meet & hold his baby? After B’Elanna being pregnant for most of the season & her pregnancy/the baby being used as a plot point for several episodes? After the writers making her finally go into labour just as they’re about to make their last/best try for home so Tom has to choose: fly Voyager through that Borg transwarp corridor or witness the birth of his daughter? Come on!
2. DRIVE
…no wedding?!?!?! And don’t try to tell me that the wedding in Course:Oblivion counts. I’ve also seen several fics that try to explain WHY B’Elanna is done with Tom & believes that since he forgot their romantic weekend getaway for his bit of macho-adrenaline infused foolishness, it means their relationship is over. Also, how does he manage to propose AND convince her to accept without telling her that he loves her? Give me some wedding vows and an ‘I love you, B’Elanna’ please.
3. FRIENDSHIP ONE
Big song & dance throughout the episode about their marriage/B’Elanna’s pregnancy/Tom’s impending dadhood, with zippo followup at the end. Especially since Tom was held hostage on that toxic planet. Especially since Joe, B’Elanna’s senior engineer & right hand man, was murdered and it could have easily been Tom instead! One little scene of B’Elanna running into sickbay to see him or her being in the friggen transporter room when he beams back.
4. REVULSION
He’s going to check on Harry?! Really?! Really?!?! After that amazing, passionate, all-too-public corridor kiss in the beginning of the episode? After the Doctor interrupts them? After B’Elanna is yanked away on that away mission before they spend some quality time together exploring their budding new relationship. After B’Elanna nearly dies on that away mission and is likely transported straight to the sickbay, arriving at Tom’s feet half dead, Tom is going to check on Harry’s precious feelings instead of escorting B’Elanna back to her quarters. Okay.
5. EXTREME RISK
Tom knows she’s not acting normally. Tom wants to help. Tom even gently confronts her about it and discusses her odd behaviour with Captain Janeway. Tom pilots the new shuttle. B’Elanna kicks Vorik off the shuttle & takes his place on the mission. B’Elanna eats ‘feel better’ pancakes alone in the mess.
6. MUSE
Tom was ready to take out a shuttle & search the system planet by planet until he found her. They even worked Tom & B’Elanna’s relationship into the script when Kelis confronts B’Elanna about her love for him. How about a f’ing Welcome Back sickbay hug when she beams back up to Voyager?
Bonus: NIGHT
That fight in the mess. Why is Tom being so bitchy/cranky/disgruntled toward B’Elanna? Why is intentionally attempting to instigate an argument? We know why - because they’re building up to B’Elanna’s house of cards durato tumbling down In Extreme Risk. Show us this, please!
Bonus #2: GRAVITY
Okay, for B’Elanna it was only two days. No need to panic. But for Tom, before it was two months it was forever! And instead of them actually reuniting we get Tom telling Tuvok and Noss about their reunion and how blasé B’Elanna was about him being back. Fine. At least we got more than nothing.
Bonus #3: MEMORIAL
That wonderful, amazing, gut-wrenching argument in Tom’s quarters leads to… zero resolution for Tom & B’Elanna. “I’m sorry” “You know where to find me.” Does he go find her after he beams back up from that planet? Does she swallow her pride & find him? Does Tom have a hard time moving past his false memories of that battle? Do they pretend it all never happened? We’ll never know.
Dishonourable Mentions:
DAY OF HONOR
Fine. Leaving them hanging (haha!) set up that wonderful opening scene in Revulsion, but would it have killed them to include a quick scene of B’Elanna waking first (she has 3 lungs so maybe had more oxygen in her system) in sickbay, seeing a sleeping Tom, verifying that he’s okay then reevaluating what she’s just done & running like a startled deer? Or conversely, Tom waking and noting that she’s gone, freaking out because he thinks she’s dead, being reassured that she’s been released, realizing that she’s not standing vigil over his sickbead and deciding that her ‘I love you‘ wasn’t actually true & she only said it to make him feel comforted because they were dying. !!
INVESTIGATIONS
She didn't see him off, she can at least welcome him back! Or confront him about his ‘mission’ to rout the Maquis traitor. She cared enough about his behaviour in…Dreadnought? If she’s pissed about the whole thing, let’s see it!
FACES
……..?? Sigh…
THE CHUTE
Maybe she doesn’t care that he was stabbed in that filthy prison and almost died?
YEAR OF HELL
“Hi honey, I’m home.“ A five second scene of a hug would have sufficed.
RANDOM THOUGHTS
Just give her the freaking present!! And show them together after B’Elanna is back. Tom was ready to go in, guns blazing, to get her back, remember?
THE KILLING GAME
Let’s talk about that holopregnancy, okay?
DEMON
A short scene with B’Elanna confronting Demon-Tom would have been wonderful because to her, he’s a monster who replaced her boyfriend, and for him, he’s the actual Tom Paris who loves her. Let him talk her into contributing her DNA.
ONCE UPON A TIME
They don’t even have to address his lame ass final message to her. One welcome home, I’m so glad you’re not dead hug would have sufficed. …Sense a pattern here?
NOTHING HUMAN
Ohhh… there’s definitely a missing conversation/argument here!
SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME
What did they fight about? When? Why? Contrary to popular belief, barring mind control/alien influence, they rarely argue. (Suck it, Harry & KJ!)
EQUINOX
Her ex appears from nowhere & we get nothing? Not one little scene in pt 1 with Tom prodding and her reassuring him that he has nothing to worry about? Nothing at the end when Max, that rat bastard, turns out to be exactly the man she dumped in SFA? Okay.
BARGE OF THE DEAD
Fine. Hug Janeway when Tom’s right there! How about a little scene of her teaching him Klingon?
REPRESSION
This one’s easy! A little scene, in their quarters, of Tom urging her to wear that Maquis outfit more often…
RENAISSANCE MAN
At some point Tom figures out that it was the Doc, not B’Elanna, he kisses in engineering, right?
Almost perfect but not quite: PROPHECY
I love this episode. I love everything about it. I would have added a kiss. That is all.
So, my darling fic writers, find an episode to fixate on and fix it!

Fanfic Writer Appreciation Week - Day 5 – Under Appreciated – shibonoku
I was so stoked when I saw one of my favourite Shino lovers started writing!
When most people start writing you might start with a couple of drabbles, maybe usually start with canon character but nope! Not my girl!
She made her own OC for Shibi and her first story is over 17,000 words!
Creating an OC? Writing that many words for your first story? That is impressive! I have nothing but awe!
I am adding my name into the hat of this is a sign to publish your Star Trek [Vorik x OC] fanfiction! Doooooo ittttttt!
@shibonoku - Blonde Aburame - [Shibi x OC]

Go give them some loveeeeeeeee ❤️
