I made a mistake by starting Voltron again and I have a few questions regarding the lions.
How do the paladins know how to control their lions? Cause like, Lance said that they don't speak, just feed ideas into your brain, but how?
How do they know that the squiggle line (altean word) blinking means fire lasers?
Why was there a white lion? There was no mention of it before and it appears out of nowhere, not to mention the fact that its just a spirit? A quizknacking spirit?! I was expecting a cool robot lion that Shiro could've used after Keith took over the black lion, but no. Just a lion spirit that just: exists.
Why didn't Allura and Coran tell the paladins sooner, like during the first episode, that Zarkon was the black paladin cause that way it would've made sense as to the reason why he solely wanted the black lion.

Voltrom Ghost Whisperer AU - Part 9
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Allura wanted when she got home was to pop open a bottle of wine, order take out and binge trash tv on Netflix. What she actually got was a sad looking Keith sitting morosely on her couch. She sent a small prayer to whoever was up there making her life difficult to please, please cut her some slack.
"You're back," Keith said, and his face lit up.
"I am," Allura replied, "you remember me this time?"
Keith nodded.
"Good, so what can I do for you?" She asked.
"I... I don't know?" Keith answered, "I remember the fire, now. And my pa. And... and Lance. Are they...? Did they...?"
Allura couldn't help but feel her heart break a little. It wasn't fair, she thought, for he'd been so young and full of promise. And even though he'd just realized he was dead, he was still mostly worried about his father and his best friend. She sat down next to him and made sure to hold his gaze.
"Lance is okay," she said, and it was heartbreaking how Keith's shoulders relaxed and a small smile appeared on his face, "I saw him today. His family moved a few months after the fire."
"Did they move because of me?" Keith asked, his smile turning into a frown.
"I don't know," she admitted, "to be honest, I didn't get to speak with him a lot. He ran out before I could."
Keith snorted, "Sounds like him."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. He was always a scaredy cat."
Allura snorted, "I'm sure you know all about it."
Then Keith sobered up again, and turned his big, violet, doe-like eyes on her and asked, "And my pa?"
Allura sobered up, too, "According to the firefighters, he also died in the fire."
Keith's eyes lit up and he asked, excited, and began looking around as is Allura had him hidden somewhere, "Where is he?"
"Keith, your dad... have you ever seen a light calling you to it?" Allura said, at loss of how to explain it, "you see, when people die, they don't usually stay here. They go to a different place, a better place, full of light and people who love them."
"So he's gone? He left me?" Keith asked, and his voice wobbled, and Allura panicked for a bit.
"I'm sure he thought you were already there, waiting for him," Allura quickly replied, "I would like to help you cross over, so you can be together again."
Keith didn't answer for a long, long time. He was frowning, but the lights weren't flickering nor were the doors slamming. Allura knew better than to rush him, so she waited quietly.
"I think I'd like to go," Keith finally said, "but I've never seen anything like what you said."
"That may be because you feel you still have something to take care of in here."
Again, Keith went quiet. Allura was very willing to wait it out, but then there was a knock on the door. Keith startled, but didn't leave. Allura sighed, but went to open the door.
Much to her surprise, there stood Lance McClain. And his two friends. He also seemed surprised to see her.
"Wow, so you weren't lying," he said.
"Why would I lie?" Allura replied, mildly offended. Lance shrugged and refused to answer, "What do you want?"
"I came to see if what you said was true," Lance answered. His small friend elbowed him hard enough that Lance flinched, so he glared at his friend, "sorry, we came to see if what you said was true."
"Well, if you want to come into my home, you might as well tell me your names."
The three friends shared a look that screamed that they thought Allura might kidnap and sell their organs in the black market. The larger one was the first to answer.
"Hunk."
"Pidge."
Allura raised an eyebrow, "Allura."
She didn't know if she believed those were their actual names but she wasn't going to fight them on it. She stepped aside and led them to her living room, where Keith had stood up and now stared apprehensively at the arch that separated the foyer from the living room.
"Lance?" He asked in a whisper, and the lights then flickered.
The three teens looked up. Allura tried to warn Keith with a look, but he wasn't looking at her.
"Could be faulty wiring," Pidge whispered to Lance. Subtle, Allura thought and rolled her eyes.
"Is that K-him?" Lance asked. Allura observed him. He seemed genuined enough. She looked at Keith, who was frowning now.
"Why isn't he saying my name? Has he forgotten me?" Keith asked.
"Yes, that's Keith," Allura answered, "he wants to know why you didn't say his name."
Lance opened his mouth to answer, but Pidge beat him to it.
"How do we know you're not lying?"
Allura looked at Keith, who didn't seem to know how to react.
"I don't know how to convince you that he's really here," Allura said, "I do think, however, that it would be best for Lance to do it on his own."
"Dream on, lady," Pidge replied.
"Yeah, he's our best friend and we won't leave him alone!" Hunk reiterated.
Just then the light above them exploded and the windows shattered around them. Cabinets began to open and close seemingly without rhyme or reason and Allura knew that now they were all potentially in danger. The three teens yelped and screamed and huddled together, trying to protect each other.
"Keith! You've got to calm down!" Allura yelled above the noise.
"He replaced me," Keith said and his features were now contorted in anger, "I died, and he left and got shiny new friends. He left me, just like my pa."
"No, Keith, I'm sure that's not true," Allura replied, "tell him, Lance, that you didn't forget him nor replaced him."
Lance was shocked to hear Allura address him after seemingly talking to the air. He looked at the place where she looked at, hoping that K-Keith was looking at him, too.
"K-Keith," Lance said, "I... I'm sorry."
He was apologizing for so many things he couldn't name, but clearly that was the wrong thing to say because the cabinets all slammed at once before the house was plunged into complete silence. Slowly, Lance picked himself off the ground and helped Hunk and Pidge up, who seemed very shaken.
"K-Keith?"
"He's gone," Allura pipped up, shaking herself off.
"Gone?" Lance asked, feeling dread pull in his stomach.
"For now," Allura replied, "ghosts are emotional beings. Seeing Lance, so different, was already difficult for him without you two making it worse."
"Hey! We didn't do anything!" Pidge exclaimed.
"You set him off!" Allura retorted, took a deep breath to collect herself and turned to Lance, "can I talk to you in private?"
"Like hell..."
"Pidge!" Lance exclaimed, looking angry for the first time, "this is not about you, alright? K-Keith was there before I met you and I believe Allura when she says he was here and I want to hear what she has to say. I don't need you to act as if I can't make my own decisions, so cut it out!"
Pidge took a step back, shock and hurt taking over her features, before she stormed out of the house. Hunk hesitated between the two, but ultimately followed Pidge. Immediately, Lance felt guilty and he rubbed his hands over his face.
"What just happened?" He asked.
"There's a lot of anger for now, and it was mostly focused on you, so you probably reacted to that," Allura explained.
"No, not about... with K-Keith. What happened with Keith?"
"At first he was shocked to see you, and then he got upset you couldn't say his name," Allura answered, "but really, what angered him was hearing you have new best friends."
Lance snorted, "He was always the jealous sort."
Allura bit back her own.
"What now?" Lance asked.
"Well, we could try to go to the school to see if he's there, or wait until he finds us again," Allura replied, "usually, spirits this upset don't want to be found."
Lance looked around the room quietly for a few moments, and then said, "Do you think he hates me?"
"I know for a fact he doesn't."
"Well, maybe he should."
Allura frowned, "What makes you think so?"
"He'd still be alive if it wasn't for me."
"I don't think Keith sees it that way at all," Allura countered.
"But I do," Lance said, "maybe this is for the best."
"Do you know what you'll be condemning Keith to if we don't help him move on?" Allura asked, losing her patience, "he'd be stuck forever between two worlds, never belonging to either, always roaming and lost. Is that what you want?"
"...no."
"Then I suggest you find a way to deal with your survivor's guilt in a different way and get your head out of your ass," Allura replied, "as you said, this is not about you. This is about Keith."
Lance contemplated her words for a moment. Then, he nodded to himself and squared his shoulders. Helping Keith came first; he could feel sorry for himself after.

I need your help: This was meant to be a short fic of only 10 to 11 parts. It was also supposed to be self-contained.
But then my brain remembered that there are ghosts who refuse to move on and gather strength, and I thought "hmm, those could be the Galra/druids," and little things like that and so I would like to hear from you.
Option 1: short, self-contained fic of 10-11 parts. I already have an idea for the ending of this one. (Think of it as one episode of Ghost Whisperer)
Option 2: an elaborate fic, who knows how many parts long, with world building, more VLD characters, plot twists and turns, angsty and dark in themes and probably adapting the source material to match. (Think of it as the overarching plot of Ghost Whisperer seasons 1 and/or 2)

Oh yeah, the absofuckinglutely benchpress of how good a character is; the number of cock sucking fanfic fangirls and fanboys it has on ao3.
Toph and Iroh, who are almost completly beloved character, don´t have even an iota of the top characters, nevermind that ATLA has a minuscule amount of fics regarding other series, nevermind that more than half of the fics Zuko is central in are the sloppiest shit imaginable, with so much raceplay, smut, and slash with Sokka or Katara.
"What gives? Why is this a thing? Why is the character that is at the heart of so many fandom disputes not as compelling as the character that was his main antagonist for half the series?"
Zuko is nice for self inserting for his fans.
The dark, brodding boy with a sad past and daddy issues, so scarred and damaged, just needing a kind loving maiden of the nation his nation have mutilated for ages to change (kinda like the old trope of a a boy from America who leave behind their families as they don't "get along with them" and shit)
Zuko being used as a benchpress for the "redemption arcs" the random fangirl likes so much while being such a lacking character himself is a show of how much people just like the dark boy because he looks hot and they want to fix him, while on the male side they just think he is cooler.
He’s a boring, palatable, and people-pleasing.
Characters like Zuko are dime a dozen, that is why he is liked. He’s custom-made to achieve maximum reception.
Why Katara and Sokka are dragged into it?
Katara was the deuteragonist for the series, but the themes of liberation regarding her are forgotten because Zutara fans just thinks she is badass and hot and with Zuko they look hot and they are a power couple.
That and, again, all the raceplay and slave-master dynamics, ohhh, and all the non-com/rape fics, those aren´t a small number either.
Similarly with Sokka, the amount of Zukka exists is even just from the fact that of all things, the Voltrom fandom needing a dynamic similarly to what they had beforehand.
I have seen completly platonic Aang centric fanfics that are miles better than any Zuko or Zutara focused slop
Don´t even know what you were trying to prove with this shit. That your fandom writes more porn? That they have blatanly less quality? That you need a dick measurement contest to think your character is better?
How did Brkye manage to make their pet character so uncompelling? Think about it. Aang is the least shippable character, and he stars in far few fics in general than Katara, Zuko and even Sokka. There's a general lack of engagement with him period. Oh, sure his stans are very vocal about him, yes, but are they writing fics? Are they writing meta? Making art? Yes, they are more than willing to jump into a fight full of personal attacks if someone expresses their dislike, but why are there so few Aang creators?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there aren't any Aang creators. There are. But for him to be the hero of the story, the creators' favorite character, and to have such a fanatical group of defenders, it's a lot less than one would expect.
Look at this...
Tumblr media
This is just sorted based on character. No ships involved. And this doesn't even take into account how many of these fics Aang just appears in and doesn't star in. I'm just saying, for as much hate as people who don't like Aang get when we voice our opinions, Aang really doesn't seem to be that popular.
This isn't to make the point that Zuko, Katara and Sokka are better than Aang (although they are, imo). The number of fics doesn't actually matter (except maybe as a point of fandom pride), and I acknowledge this could change at any time. I don't really have a point as much as I have a question. What gives? Why is this a thing? Why is the character that is at the heart of so many fandom disputes not as compelling as the character that was his main antagonist for half the series?

I know Voltron is long over, but this is a question I had on my mind for a while.
How come when Allura resurrects Shiro, his hair turns white. Most likely due to all the quintessence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But when, Allura resurrects Lance, he looks exactly the same.
Tumblr media
Maybe I wanna see Lance with white hair.

I’ve always loved animation as a medium (to be clear, as an art form meant to tell a story) , and I just really, really, appreciate modern animation for bringing characters to life in a way that is realistic and not just trying to get a laugh. Animation is an artform with limitless potential and should be respected as much.

Voltrom Ghost Whisperer AU - Part 7
1 2 3 4 5 6
Allura decided to skip town the next day and drove to the next one over. After knowing the last name of the family who previously owned her house, and getting a name out of Keith, a quick Google search for Lance McClain quickly told her he went to high school in the next town over. She had no idea how he was going to react to her, but she couldn't let Keith just roam without rest for all eternity.
She arrived at the school just as the bell rang and the kids began to leave for the day. She recognized Lance when he came out of the building, flanked by two other teens. She didn't want them to think she was a creep, but... taking a deep breathe to strengthen her resolve, she exited the car.
"Lance McClain?" She called when he was close enough. He turned around and threw her a flirty smile and a wink.
"Who's asking?" He asked, and had the gall to stare her up and down.
She raised an eyebrow and replied, "Someone way too old for you."
Lance's friends laughed and he, good naturedly, shoved them a bit. Then he turned to her.
"What can I do for you?"
"I hope this doesn't come off as too weird or anything, but I'm a friend of the Koganes and I haven't been able to get in touch with them," she began and took note of how he became stiff and his face lost all color, "someone told me your family used to be closed to them, so... I was hoping..."
"Lance, are you okay, man?" The larger one of his friends said as he put a hand on his shoulder. The smaller one stepped in between Lance and Allura in a protective posture.
"Yeah... yeah, I'm ok," Lance replied, but his countenance said differently, "I just... I need to sit down."
Lance shakily walked to a bench on the side of the road, and his friends followed. Allura did too, but slower and deliberately giving them space. Allura saw Lance take several deep breaths while his friends gave her the stink eye.
"I'm sorry," she said sincerely, "I didn't mean to upset you."
"No, it's... it's fine, it's just... I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but Mr. Kogane died a few years ago..." Lance replied.
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
"You said you knew him?" He asked then.
Allura hated herself a bit for lying, "something like that, but it was a long time ago."
Lance looked at her closely, and once again his eyes travelled up and down but this time it seemed to have a purpose. He observed her for longer, too, enough to make her uncomfortable.
"Are you Keith's mother?" He finally asked, and his voice shook, and Allura didn't think she was imagining the tears pooling in his eyes. Keith would be sixteen, now. Sixteen years ago, Allura would have been sixteen or seventeen years old herself. A bit of a stretch but not impossible for her to have conceived and given Keith up, so she could see how he reached that conclusion.
She had no frame of reference for how old Sargeant Kogane had been when he died.
"No, I'm sorry if I gave that impression. I'm just a family friend, that's all. I'm from England, so we weren't able to meet very often," she answered.
"I don't remember ever seeing you or hearing about you, and we were pretty close," Lance mentioned. He tried to appear nonchalant, but it seemed forced.
"Is that so? Well, I-"
"I think you're lying," he continued and didn't let her speak. What could Allura say? She was lying, but only because she wanted to help Keith move on.
"I think you're a reporter," the short one of his friends pipped in, "we've had some of them come sniffing around over the hears. They never claimed to be related to a dead family, though. That's a new low for your kind."
"I'm not a reporter," Allura said and bristled, "if you must know the truth, I just moved here from England and I bought your house. That's why I'm here."
That seemed to take all three teens by surprise, and Allura internally celebrated her small victory.
"I don't know how I can help you, lady," Lance said, frowning, "my dad would know more about the house if there's anything you want to know about it."
"It's not the house I'm having an issue with, but..."
The short one raised an eyebrow and didn't cut Lance any slack, "But?"
Allura sighed, and relented, "Before you say anything, just... I know how this is going to sound. I know perfectly well what it looks like. Therefore, I'm prefacing this by saying that I'm not after anything, no money, no nothing. Just... keep an open mind?"
"You're beginning to sound very suspicious," the larger kid said.
"Beginning?" The shorter one scoffed.
"I'm listening," Lance replied, looking curious and intrigued.
"I have a guest in my house," she began.
"So?" Lance asked, "Good for you."
"It's an unwanted guest. Every day, around dusk, he arrives in my house and screams at me get out. The other day he blew out my light bulb."
"And how is this Lance's problem?" The large kid asked. Allura ignored him and carried in.
"He is small, about this tall, around ten years old. He has messy, longish, about here more or less, black hair. He has violet eyes, quite unique I must say," as she spoke, Lance's eyes progressively widened in something akin to horror, "he's wearing black, knee-long trousers, a white shirt and a-"
"Red jacket," Lance finished for her.
"He told me his name."
"No," Lance shook his head and stood up, grief making his face scrunch up as he paced and wrung his hands, "no, that's impossible."
"He also told me your name," Allura continued.
"No! No, you're lying!"
"Lance, what-?"
"Lance!"
Allura spoke above them, "I know it's hard to believe, but he's lost and he's looking for you. He's been waiting."
"I have to... I have to go," Lance said and took off running away from the school grounds. The larger kid took off after him, clearly worried, barely sparing Allura a glance. The smaller one, however, rounded on her with a fierce glare.
"What's your deal, huh?" She yelled, "what do you want from him?"
"He understood what I was trying to tell him just fine. If she wants to tell you, it's up to him," Allura answered.
"No, you don't get to pull that card on me," she said, "whatever you said clearly affected him and I want to know why."
"Then ask him."
"Stay away from us," the kid spat at her, "or I'll call the police."
