(it’s not anywhere near finished yet either, I haven’t even gotten to the “polite but secretly loathes” category yet)

(I apologize for the terrible photo quality, these were the best I could do with my terrible photography skills on this iPad without leaving my bed; the colors are at least easier to distinguish in real life, but the chart is still a mess)

Highlights (note that most of these are just headcanons or in the context of my AU fic):

I only got 4 hours of sleep last night, yay, this is probably why my brain wanted to embark on a “fun little project”

Shinra is in fact the Dom with Miyabi— okay, maybe there’s room for nuance where I could see them switching off, but Shinra is clearly a sub to both Tomo and Yuki, and despite my initial belief that he would feel comfortable slipping into a Dom role with Akifusa, that flew out the window as soon as Akifusa looked him in the eyes and started earnestly and relentlessly praising him. So that just leaves Mitsuki and Miyabi of the characters I think he has sexual tension with, and if Mitsuki was the only person he was Dominant toward, that feels kinda sexist so I’m letting him dominate that bratty kitsune. And maybe it’s also kinda cathartic for me because I too think Miyabi is a prick and would love to wipe the arrogant smirk off his face.

I do not know Yuki well enough to know if he enjoys having his authority in bed challenged, but I do know that if he does, he needs to come up with punishments other than “give them hypothermia”, because no one wants to brat for him now. …Then again, some people are into temperature play. Hm. Food for thought. (Operating off surface vibes, I don’t think he tolerates bratting, though. Much less encourages it.)

Yes, Mitsuki (my lazy-ass name for the EitM MC) does in fact have repressed sexual attraction to Shiki and doesn’t know how to cope with it or even recognize it’s a thing. I just think she’d see Shiki kicking ass with a sword and hear someone call her “Princess” and develop an instant crush. Sadly, her competition is Tomonori. I don’t think I need to explain further.

Furutsugu has a thing for long-term loyalty in partners (never mind if that loyalty is channeled toward someone other than himself); I don’t know when or why I gave him this kink, but it makes a strange sort of sense to me.

shut up, I’m not at all projecting my personal aversion to the “fuck anything with a pulse” love interests onto my headcanons of these characters… okay, maybe I am a little. But look, I’m letting Shinra dominate Miyabi! …Because I want to wipe the smirk off his face.

I don’t think Akifusa truly hates anyone, but everything about Miyabi would piss him off because Miyabi and Furutsugu are basically the same character, and Furutsugu also pisses him off.

Tomonori likes dominating / wrangling Shinra; he gets along okay with Samon because they’re both chill and down-to-earth and into cooking and familiar with traditional shrine stuff; and he gets along with Mitsuki because they both really like books and she doesn’t have an inflated ego. For all the other EitM ayakashi (including Chikage who’s not pictured here), his feelings do not exceed the tier of “respect but don’t trust”.

Specifically, he acts cordial toward Yuki, but Yuki has the same “calm smile, impeccable manners, will kill you” vibes going on, so I think Tomonori would see too much of himself in Yuki, and he really doesn’t trust himself. He’d think the others were either (a) too sleazy, (b) too arrogant, (c) too lazy, or (d) some combination of the above, but he’d paste a polite smile on his face and mouth the appropriate platitudes and none of them would be the wiser.

I don’t think I’ve ever written Tomonori this way. He just seems so confident and mature when it comes to his romantic and sexual preferences (though not so much when it comes to whether those feelings are returned), and a lot of times when something kinda gay happens between him and Akifusa, he’s the one who initiates it. That rope scene, that was all his idea. Both instances of homoeroticized stabbing, his idea (not sexual but still deeply charged, passionate scenes).

Also, in the high school AU CD drama (although that one pisses me off, as I’ve explained before, because Shiki isn’t Aki and Tomo’s childhood friend in that), Tomonori walks in on Akifusa and Kodonomae acting out a romantic scene from Aki’s script for a competition, and he quickly jumps from feeling flustered to protective of Akifusa. (Although when Akifusa dashes after him and tries to explain, more frantically than I’d expect from a guy whose feelings toward Tomonori were purely platonic, Tomo’s reaction kinda reminds me of a miffed boyfriend who suspects he’s being cheated on. “That’s fine, love is love, but don’t touch me”, etc.)

For Akifusa, it depends on the story. I don’t think he does in canon, but I’ve written a few fics where he’s struggling with his newfound feelings toward Tomonori on the count of “he’s another man” on top of “he’s my best friend” and “what about the Princess?”. Because why not load poor Akifusa up with as many sources of stress and anxiety as possible?

Shiki doesn’t care, but she’s either straight or hasn’t realized she’s attracted to more than just men. I would argue she finds it hot that her best friends are hooking up, although that could very well be projection on my end. (Also you could argue that’s objectification and maybe also reflective of a stereotype, but considering it’s only toward her friends, one of whom she finds sexually attractive regardless, I’m willing to give her a pass.)

Now: I think Shinra almost certainly does. I also think he’s a well-meaning sweetheart who’s absolutely capable of getting over it, but— from the scraps of information divulged about his upbringing, from what I recall, he doesn’t exactly seem to have been raised in a supportive, loving environment. The reason he develops a childhood crush on the MC of his game is because she’s openly nice to him, and apparently that’s just not a thing in oni culture. And there’s the whole thing with his brother, and I get the vibe he and Taira are both scared of their dad. This could be all in my head, but red flags are waving all over, basically.

Talk about a blast from the past! 🌟 It's been ages since I last opened the Love 365 app, but the Leading Man Awards 2023 brought back all the memories. Seeing all my beloved characters on the list hit me right in the feels - oh, how I've missed them! T-T

Next in my line of OC showcases is Stephanie's cousin, and the OC who gave this blog its name way back when - Ella 'Mouse' Watson! (Note: Pose references were consulted when drawing this)

Ella, or Mouse as most people know her, is a somewhat more timid harpy than her charismatic cousin but has a heart as sweet as honey. Never make the mistake of assuming she's a coward or a doormat, though, because she will make you regret it - with her teeth. Her trademark fang might be a source of insecurity for her, but she's quite willing to use it to bite the hands of those threatening her. She is sweet, generous and surprisingly courageous beneath her gentle outer shell.

A few fun facts about her for those interested:

Mouse's feathers are extremely soft to the touch, softer than those of Stephanie. She gives particularly cosy hugs as a result.

Mouse is not a 'pure' harpy, as indicated by her physical abnormalities (most notably her elongated right fang). She is unaware of what other species make up her bloodline, however, as her living family either themselves don't know (ie Stephanie) or refuse to tell her.

She has a passion for gardening and a surprising talent for sewing with her talons.

She is bisexual.

Depending on the setting or fandom she's being played in, Mouse may be a human or vampire instead of a harpy (note, however, that she has the elongated canine tooth in every version regardless). Fandoms I use her in include Castlevania, Pokemon, Digimon, Diabolik Lovers and several Voltage Inc otomes (namely Star Crossed Myth, Enchanted in the Moonlight and Court of Darkness).

Her (human version) Pokemon trainer's team consists of shiny Volcarona, Ribombee, Mantine and Jolteon thus far.

Which Love 365 characters surprise you the most with their age difference?

For me it's Sentaro Kyogoku being a few months older than Hyogo Kaga and Hideki Ishigami. The fact that he is not a few years their junior blows my mind.

And, let's be honest, Toshiki Kasumi's age. Every time you put him around other characters, there's a big chance he's older. Him being 38 is the biggest plot twist.
