A US hitwoman disguised in a hijab who was foiled when her gun jammed during an attempted murder in Britain is still at large after returning to the US, prosecutors say.
Aimee Betro, 44, was recruited by British father and son Mohammed Nazir, 30, and Mohammed Aslam, 56, to conduct a revenge killing against Aslat Mahamud and his relatives after a 2018 dispute at a jewellery store left the father and son duo injured.
Betro, who is from Milwaukee in Wisconsin, allegedly flew in from Chicago for the contract killing in Acocks Green in Birmingham, on September 7, 2019, after arranging to meet Mahamud’s son, shop owner Sikander Ali, to look at a Volkswagen Golf that the family was selling, Birmingham Crown Court was told, but the attempted shooting did not go to plan.
Dressed in a hijab, Betro “calmly” approached Ali, and pointed a gun at his head, the court heard. However, when she went to pull the trigger, the gun became jammed and Ali fled the scene.
The next morning, Betro allegedly went to Mahamud’s house and opened fire three times, before texting Mahamud: “Stop playing hide and seek” and “Where are you hiding?” the court was told. No one was injured.
Betro allegedly later sent Aslat Mahamud another text saying: “You want to rip me off, you want to be a drug kingpin go look at your house. I will show you. Watch your back. I will be shedding blood soon.”
The 44-year-old is said to have flown back to Chicago two days later and is still believed to be at large in the US, with an international manhunt underway.
If Betro is arrested in the US, it is not clear if she will be extradited to the UK to face possible charges.
Under the US’s extradition treaty with the UK, the UK must prove that a crime has been committed under both US and UK law and provide evidence that shows a “reasonable” demonstration of guilt in order for a US citizen to be extradited to the US.
Social media posts by Betro, reported by The Times, appear to show that she documented her trip to the UK from August to September 2019 in great detail.
In one Instagram post, she appears to talk about visiting her “partner in crime” in Manchester. In another post from the day before the first attempted shooting, Betro is seen posing in a picture with devil horns.
In other posts, she talks about attending the Tranzmission Festival in Crystal Palace, London, and going on a boat tour of the River Thames, it is reported.
During her time in London, she stayed at a number of hotels in Birmingham, Brighton, Derby and Manchester, in one case staying at a Raddison Blue hotel, the court heard.
Betro is not a professional hitwoman. She apparently works as a freelance graphic designer and studied early childhood education at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin, graduating in 2005 before going on to work as an administrator for the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team. In 2003, she wrote a letter to her local paper arguing in favour of free birth control for women.
Nazir and Aslam, of Derby, were found guilty of conspiracy to murder last week for their role in the attempted killing.
Nazir was also found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, perverting the course of justice and illegally importing firearms over a plot to bring guns into the country and then blame it on another person to frame them. Aslam was cleared of a firearms offense.
The guilty verdicts were handed down after the court heard that Nazir and Aslam held a grudge against Ali’s family following a violent dispute at his boutique clothing store in Birmingham, in central England, on July 21, 2018.
The violent incident had left Nazir and Aslam injured, with the windows of their shop left smashed and the interior “trashed”.
In order to seek revenge, the pair allegedly flew Betro over from the States to Birmingham to kill Ali and his family.
On September 6, Nazir and Aslam travelled from their home in Derby to Birmingham city centre, with Nazir spending more than two hours in a hotel with Betro–  who ordered a takeaway from Deliveroo – according to prosecutors.
Betro had apparently arranged to meet Ali the next day on the pretense of buying a car.
Birmingham Crown Court heard how Betro – disguised in a hijab – pulled up in a Mercedes before Ali pulled up in an Audi nearby.
Kevin Hegarty KC, prosecuting said: “As he did, the would-be assassin came from the driver’s side of the Mercedes.
“As she left the Mercedes she left the driver’s door open. She walked quite calmly towards Sikander Ali and was pointing a gun at him at head height.
“As she got closer to Sikander Ali he saw her and he saw the gun and she pulled the trigger to fire the gun at him. Mercifully and luckily for him the gun jammed.”
Hegarty said Ali rapidly reversed his car and drove off, while Betro reportedly abandoned her Mercedes nearby – where it was later found by police.
Nazir flew out to America a few days later, a couple of days after Betro, who he put down as his point of contact on travel documentation, but he was arrested after his return to the UK the following month. Aslam was also arrested.
Detective Inspector Matt Marston, from West Midlands Police, said the pair were “determined to take revenge.”
“The lengths they went to in trying to make sure they weren’t implicated in pulling the trigger are immense,” he added.
“However, thanks to some great police work and support from our Derbyshire colleagues we were able to place them firmly in the middle of the attempted murder plot.”

One of the best things about electric cars in 2023 is that we are now seeing 1st generation models from the “early years” being improved, revised and facelifted. For the early-adopters in the UK’s EV market, we are grateful for those consumers and businesses for having the foresight and courage to invest into all-electric technology in 2018 / 2019 / 2020, when little was known on how good this form of transport would be (and when public charging infrastructure was still in its early inception). And VW’s electric Golf replacement, the ID.3, was first shown to the world in 2016 before being pushed into production in 2019 with deliveries taking place around 2020 around Europe (including the UK). As one would expect, the ID3 was fairly popular, amassing some 11,032 registrations in 2021 (it was the 3rd best-selling EV in the UK) followed by becoming the 4th best-selling UK EV with 9,178 registrations in 2022! (see SMMT for more details - https://media.smmt.co.uk/). Launching with a Pure battery (45 kWh), Pro battery (58 kWh) and Pro S configuration (77 kWh), VW’s all-electric hatchback filled a necessary hole in the UK’s automotive market, which was historically dominated by SUVs and luxury / prestige options. Winning awards, like the Which? Best Buy of 2023 (https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/new-and-used-cars/volkswagen-id-3-2020), does prove that this is very much the zero-emission Golf equivalent.
But the “future of driving” is not a completed model and the German group have now confirmed a series of external, integral and technological improvements to this popular EV (see VW - https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/electric-and-hybrid/electric-cars/the-new-id3.html). As the “evolution of electric mobility” continues, the brand have confirmed some truly existing updates including:
  Exterior - new colours such as Dark Olivine Green,     sharper profile at the front together with new tail light clusters and     dynamic turn signals plus IQ.Light LED matrix headlights set to be     offered. New alloy options including the 19” Wellington and 20” Sanya     alloys, a new Exterior Package will allow drivers to add LED matrix     headlights with automatic lighting control, LED tail lights, illuminated     strip between headlights and tinted rear windows. An Exterior Packages     PLUS includes a panoramic roof and sun blind;
Interior - increased options on the dash and door trim,     together with higher quality finish. Ability to upgrade to the optional     electric seats with massage function and high-quality fabric. New     panoramic glass roof with “heavenly views” and sunblind; and
Technology and safety - 8-colour ambient lighting,     Travel Assist with adaptive lane guidance and predictive cruise control,     Emergency Assist, Area View with 4 cameras, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane     Keeping Assist and Park Assist Plus can all be added to your new ID3.
Not unlike many other brands, the ID.3 will be utilising over-the-air updates for continual improvements coupled with the We Connect ID app for synergising your vehicle to your mobile device. Many EV customers enjoy the facility to start and stop charging, or warm their vehicle, from the comfort of the app.

2019 Volkswagen Golf TSI Review, Price, Specs And Dimension
New Post has been published on http://vwnewupdates.com/2018/01/2019-volkswagen-golf-tsi-review-price-specs-and-dimension.html
2019 Volkswagen Golf TSI Review, Price, Specs And Dimension
2019 Volkswagen Golf TSI Review – While people discourse about compact hatchbacks, at times, the particular VW Golf will get still left out of the discussion. However, it should not be like that: The actual Golf is much as well as out the ideal-promoting portable within Europe. There are reasons for them, not very least of the Golf’s superior usefulness.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Exterior
The top in the car carries a straightforward, slender grille opening bisected by a notable VW company emblem between your Golf’s a couple of hexagonal headlights. A bigger opening up underneath the entrance bumper affect surface deals with many of the actual cooling down obligations to the radiator.
From the aspect, the actual VW Golf can be fine, using brief overhangs that offer that the sporty visual appeal. The front wheel structure appears to almost attain up to the particular hood. There’s a new action to the design while viewed using this perspective, the particular car always showing up to anticipate to pounce into action.
The particular lines over the side of the car are usually deliberate – the actual wrinkle just beneath the actual hood shutline touring on to constitute the sills under the side windows, the middle crease underneath the front door deals with creating the particular car’s beltline, as well as the reduce crease helping to present the actual Golf’s user profile a good foundation.
On the back, the actual Golf carries a delicate lip spoiler over the rear glass, which tones the particular middle higher-attached cease light. The actual hatch out is easily developed, integrating the inner 50 percent of the particular taillights, which are becoming a member of from a distinct crease that will serve to continue the particular beltline found in profile perspective.
Interior
The actual technology can be wonderful. However, it is the actual practical interior room that helps to make the VW Golf appealing to family men similar to me personally.
Read Also: 2019 Volkswagen Golf TSI For Sale
The actual VW Golf interior makes the most of the car’s comparatively little footprint. It bids a total of 94 cubic feet regarding passenger space as well as 22.8 cubic toes associated with cargo place powering the rear car seats, which had been plenty for grocery store-hauling. If you collapse down the back end seating, there are 52.7 cubic feet associated with carrying room within this package, which will become plenty for you to haul our drum system.
Drivetrain
All of VW Golf hatchbacks in the USA (the particular Golf R excepted) are equipped with the 1.8-liter TSI turbocharged many-cylinder gas drivetrain, and also that is zero bad thing – unless of course, you’re looking to get the best gasoline economic system inside the segment. If perhaps that’s your case, appearance someplace else. I found 31 Miles per gallon across a 350 distance week. That’s pretty good, considering the car’s EPA ratings of 25 Miles per gallon city, 35 Miles per gallon freeway, 29 MPG put together. Even so, it’s not quite as economical as, claim, a new Nissan Sentra’s EPA rankings ( whenever built with a computerized transmission).
Although the competitors, typically, do not have the processing in the 1.8-liter turbo numerous inside the Golf. It provides 170 hp upon faucet along with a strong 199 lb-feet of twisting. Within VW’s normal type of recent times, twisting will come on early on along with remains powerful by way of the center of the particular rev array, delivering a good amount of grunt to have as much as pace out and about or any time blending into the road. My specialist had been coupled with a great 50 percent a dozen-rate auto transmitting (at no more cost) which had been very well fast to move straight down when I presented the actual skinny ride a little more body weight.
The actual suspension of the 2019 Volkswagen Golf TSI has been properly-categorized. The actual driving a vehicle encounter has been strictly Western. Despite a fairly short wheelbase of 103.8 inches, that managed by itself perfectly more than the rough road as well as followed directly along with real on highways. Directing truly feel had been superior to many in this section. No small car We have driven over the last year or two features steering truly feel this kind of good. Sport-tinged versions like the Nissan Sentra NISMO and even Hyundai Elantra Sport might compare, however, are laden along with an arrangement that this Golf SEL doesn’t produce.

First Look: The Volkswagen Touareg R - Plug-in Hybrid
Volkswagen is set to add a range-topping new premium model to its flagship Touareg line – the Touareg R. The versatile model’s 340 kW (462 PS) plug-in hybrid drive offers an innovative blend of superlative performance and electric efficiency. When the battery is sufficiently charged, the new SUV always starts in the all-electric E-MODE for zero emissions. The battery capacity is designed so that the Touareg R can cover the average daily commute under electric power. Like all Touareg models, the new R version comes with permanent all-wheel drive (4MOTION) as standard. 4MOTION and the powerful drive system (700 Nm of torque) means the Touareg R has also been homologated for a maximum trailer weight of 3.5 tonnes. The premium model can cope with this maxi- mum trailer weight even in E-MODE. As the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the world, the Touareg can also be fitted with the trailer maneuvering system Trailer Assist. And yet another first: the Touareg will be available with Travel Assist for the first time. The premium model will be the first Volkswagen to boast assisted driving (automatic longitudinal and lateral guidance) up to a speed of 250 km/h.
First R model with plug-in hybrid. The new flagship model was designed by the Volkswagen R performance brand, which traditionally develops the sportiest models in the Volkswagen range. The Touareg R represents a paradigm shift – it is the first Volkswagen R model to feature a plug-in hybrid drive. It is also the first time a hybrid model has been the most highly-powered Volkswagen. The extremely well appointed Touareg R, which features the Black Style exterior design package along with 20-inch alloy wheels & R-Line interior trim (including Vienna leather), is set to enter the market in the second half of 2020.
Intelligent electric performance. The Touareg R is the third plug-in hybrid model in Volkswagen’s European product line, following in the wheel-tracks of the Golf and Passat. The Touareg R is the first all-wheel drive model in Volkswagen’s PHEV range, and is also another milestone in the realignment of Volkswagen R that started in 2019. Jost Capito, managing director of the Group’s in-house performance brand, explains: “We are currently vigorously expanding the Volkswagen R range. Following the compact CUV models – T-Roc R1and T-Roc Cabriolet R-Line2 – Volkswagen R is introducing another sport utility vehicle within a very short space of time – the Touareg R, which has a quite unique position and unrivaled charisma.” The Touareg R is synonymous with a new and intelligent level of electric performance in segment of large touring SUVs.
Authentic, avant-garde, practical. Volkswagen R is responsible for the visual and technical configuration, and with it the conceptual direction of the new model. The Touareg R is based on the third generation of the product line launched in 2018, which in turn was an evolution of the model first introduced in 2002. All current Touareg models feature a dynamic and elegant design, maximum safety and long-distance comfort, state-of-the-art connectivity and a largely digitized cockpit. The overall concept is also designed with a high level of everyday usability in mind. Some 60% of all  Touareg owners in Germany and 40% in Europe also use their SUV as a towing vehicle – remarkably high figures. The Touareg is often driven by sporty, active people who value the utmost safety, outstanding driving comfort, intuitive control and cutting-edge connectivity. The new Touareg R has been designed specifically for this extremely tech-savvy customer group. For the first time, they now have a performance model that can be driven temporarily in all-electric mode with zero local emissions. The new Touareg com- plies with the Euro 6d-TEMP-EVAP-ISC emission standard.
Extended powertrain range. The SUV product line is currently available with one turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) and three turbocharged diesel engines (TDI). The V6 TSI engine delivers a power output of 250 kW (340 PS)3. As a V6 TDI, the Touareg is available with two output levels: 170 kW (231 PS)4 and 210 kW (286 PS)5. The current most powerful Touareg is a V8 TDI with 310 kW (421 PS)6. Volkswagen is adding a range-topping model in the form of the new Touareg R.
Top R dynamic performance. As a typical Volkswagen R model, the Touareg R provides ultra-dynamic performance. Like at the touch of a button, the driver just has to press the accelerator to access the full output of the electric motor (100 kW/136 PS) and the turbocharged V6 petrol engine (250 kW/340 PS) as required. The two drive systems can then be combined in a boost function to use the vehicle’s dynamic reserves – for instance to over- take another vehicle quickly and safely – and to exploit the full system  power of 340 kW (462 PS). The maximum system torque is 700 Nm.
All-wheel drive hybrid. The hybrid drive of the Touareg R essentially consists of a 2,995 cm3 V6 turbocharged petrol engine, the electric drive motor and a lithium-ion battery (energy capacity of 14.1 kWh) built into the luggage compartment underbody. The power electronics convert the direct current of the battery into alternating current for the electric drive motor. An 8- speed automatic gearbox (with Tiptronic) and a transfer box transmit power to the front and rear axles (4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive). A center differential lock with asymmetric dynamic torque distribution (Torsen traction) acts as a transfer box for the flow of forces between the front and rear axle. A maximum of 70% of the drive force reaches the front axle and up to 80% reaches the rear axle.
All-electric drive up to 140 km/h. When first started, the Touareg R uses only the electric motor if the battery is sufficiently charged. This ensures that the SUV comes as close to zero emissions as possible, especially on short journeys. This hybrid strategy also provides the greatest savings potential. The Touareg R can be driven in all-electric mode at a speed of up to 140 km/h; above this, the V6 TSI is activated automatically – or at any time using kickdown. The maximum speed of the SUV is electronically regulated at 250 km/h.

Photoshoot of the Week: March 23rd-29th 2020 - Biljana & Audi A3
Tumblr media
The Geneva International Motor Show is among the automotive sector’s glitziest, with a high proportion of luxury and sports models, prestige brands and wild concept cars on display, and this year - despite a lower-than-usual roster of brands - looked to be following suit. Anyway the 2020 edition, which was to start on 2 March, was cancelled as a force majeure after the Swiss government banned public gatherings of more than 1,000 people in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The virus reached Switzerland in the last week of February and neighbouring Italy reported hundreds of cases. The viral outbreak that began in China has spread to 52 countries and territories, with Italian cases centered on northern provinces that border Switzerland. Geneva, home to the World Health Organization, which is fighting the epidemic, is a 3-hour drive from Turin, where Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has an operational base. Audi AG understandably said they supported the organizers' decision, but after the cancellation of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, the German company had quickly to figure out how to arrange the 2020 Audi A3 Sportback worldwide debut. In the end Audi decided to livestream Audi A3's reveal on March 3rd, which was set to be the first day of the Geneva Motor Show: basically the date of the A3’s reveal hasn’t changed, only the venue has. Now, though, it’s arguable even better because the world gets to see it live, rather than having to wait for members of the media to show it off. Nonetheless buying a car might not be your major concern right now. However, we will eventually get back to normal life and work, so you should take into account the new generation of Audi A3. The fanciest of the lot, the revamped A3 will continue to command a premium over its siblings, partly because of its badge, but primarily due to the extra sophistication it brings compared to its counterparts. Ater all the A3 was the forerunner of the hatchback genre: this car remains a stylish icon that is going to be hard to match even in the future. Just look, for example, at the sexy and amazing photos made by the terrific cargirl and socialite of Bosnian Serb origin and naturalized Swiss citizen Biljana Lazic with her beloved A3: what can you say? A perfect girl with the perfect car. You know, Swiss governemnt can shut down a motorshow, maybe the quarantine will be widened to all Swiss cities, but it will take much more than that to split Biljana from her obsession! *** *** *** The 2020 Audi A3 ranks in the middle of our luxury small car rankings. It has a well-equipped cabin and a range of powerful engine options, but most of its classmates offer more trunk space and much better predicted reliability ratings. The Audi A3 has been one of the most popular small executive hatchbacks for a long time, but this generation’s time in the limelight is fading as more advanced rivals bring more technology and desirability to the segment. Nonetheless the A3 is still a good all-rounder despite the increasingly aggressive competitors: strong, efficient engines, stable, confidence-inspiring handling and the ever-appealing option of quattro four-wheel drive mean there’s a lot to like about Audi’s Volkswagen-Golf-related hatchback. The Audi A3 is a handsome premium hatchback that shares its engineering platform, powertrains and technology with the Volkswagen Golf and VW group stablemates the SEAT Leon and Skoda Octavia. They’re all built on a shared MBQ platform, but the Audi A3’s price premium means it’s generally the most expensive of the bunch. Because the Audi A3 has been engineered to use lightweight parts, particularly up front, it has a lithe lightness on the road that the old A3 never had. Seriously – the handling is light-footed and playful in a way no mainstream Audi has yet managed. It grips hard, hardly understeers, even generates a semblance of feedback through the steering. Audi also offers three levels of suspension stiffness plus a trick magnetic ride option that’s well worth spending the extra on. The 1.4 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI petrol engines are effective, and more recent additions are the 1.2 TFSI and 1.4 TFSI ‘cylinder on demand’ motors, which bring a bit of diesel economy to the cleaner, quieter world of petrol cars. Most will still go for a 2.0 TDI, though there’s loads of choice if the post-Dieselgate world has put you off. The Audi A3 is a very smart looking car on the outside, with a bold grille and handsome profile, as well as the sharply angled headlights. You get a similar look on the other A3 models on sale – the A3 saloon, open-top A3 Cabriolet and rapid S3 and RS3. The Audi A3 is practical and easy to live with, too. Front passengers get plenty of seat adjustment and a good view of the road ahead and behind. Adults sat in the rear will also be comfortable with enough head, leg and shoulder room. Boot space is on a par with a VW Golf and a Ford Focus. All versions of the Audi A3 share one thing: an absolutely gorgeous interior, with top-level, class-defining fit and finish. The old A3 was, despite its age, at the top of its game in this area: the new one simply extends this leadership further, while bringing new features to the table too. These include on-board internet, fingertip recognition sat nav entry and Audi drive select. As for practicality, the hatchback ones are more flexible but the saloon has a huge boot. In the end the Audi A3 founded the premium hatchback genre, and it remains the best one. While a Mercedes A-Class prioritises comfort and a BMW 1 Series focuses on sharp handling, the A3 strikes a great compromise between the two. It doesn’t cost much more than a VW Golf to buy, either, making it a better value proposition than you might imagine. And with loads of petrol engines to choose from - not least the quite barmy 400bhp RS3 - you’ve plenty of options if you want to avoid diesel. This generation of A3, while updated, has been around since 2012, yet it’s still a mightily strong contender. #AClass #AudiA3 #A3#cargirl #fastcars #cargirls #carporn #RidinGirlsBlog #drivergirl #femaleriders #sexycar #AudiRS #RS #Audi #luxurycars #carchick #suvlady #suv #speed #roadracing #ridingsexy #carracing #truckgirl #sportcar #Audination #richgirls #Audilove #Audigirl #AudiRS6 #AudiRS3 #RS6 #BAE #RS #RS5 #AudiTT #AudiRS4 #quattro #RS3 #coupe #sportcar #Audir8 #Audigirls #rs7 #Audigirls #instacar #Audimotors #audiworld

Car & Driver 2019 10Best "Inadequacies:" Quick blurbs on the cars that didn't make the 10Best list this year via /r/cars
Car & Driver 2019 10Best "Inadequacies:" Quick blurbs on the cars that didn't make the 10Best list this year
In the print edition of Car & Driver, January, 2019, they dove into the year's 10Best cars list. They also had a small section in the margins of the 10Best feature called "Inadequacies." In this section, they gave a quote for each car that was up for 10Best contention, but didn't make it, briefly summarizing its shortcomings. Lots of interesting insight, if you ask me! Remember that Car & Driver has a full set of tests they run to select their 10Best cars, many of them on a track, so it's not just a group of editors sitting in a room and picking which ones they like best. So, here they are:
Audi A6: "Way more luxury than sport here."
Audi A7: "It's like Audi tried to make a Tesla Model S out of a gas-powered car. Needs more sound and fury. But I guess that's what the S7 is for."
Audi RS5: "The RS5 used to have a howling V-8 and gobs of personality. This one feels sedate in comparison."
BMW i3s: "Even in its marginally sportier guise, the BMW i3 continues to be as far as you can get from the experience of driving a car while still driving a car."
BMW 640i xDrive GT: "Drives like a hockey arena."
Buick Regal GS: "The name vastly oversells its performance."
Buick Regal TourX: "Less than the sum of its parts, attractive though they are."
Honda Clarity PHEV: "As far as the effort to remove all sensory traces of dynamic motivational activity under the hood goes, this thing is a champ. The ultimate anodyne driving experience."
Honda Insight: "What to buy when you really want a Prius but can't bear to look at one."
Hyundai Accent: "There's an awful lot of competence here for the money. Not necessarily much joy but an awful lot of competence."
Hyundai Veloster: "The N splits the difference between a VW GTI and a Civic Type R without being better than either. And like all Velosters, this one is still burdened by its economy-car ethos and weird design."
Jaguar XF Sportbrake: "It's handsome as all get-out, but the interior isn't as nice as it should be, the powertrain is not as refined as it should be, and the chassis isn't as fun as it should be."
Kia Forte: "Manages the strange trick of looking cheaper than it actually is."
Lexus ES/Hybrid: "Was the dashboard designed to win a bet? It is more terraformed than styled, with various vintages of switchgear and instruments."
Lexus LS: "I'm startled by how removed from the driving experience this car has become. Like changing lanes from your bed."
Mazda 6 2.5T: "Very refined but doesn't feel sharp. This has me worried that Mazda is starting to walk away from sportiness in favor of luxury."
Mercedes-Benz C-Class: "Much improved but still not as satisfying as the E-class."
Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class: "No longer better looking or handier than the E-class, so I fail to see the point."
Nissan Altima: "Rental-car desk agents should see a dramatic decrease in arguments with disgruntled customers."
Nissan Leaf: "A car that is crying out for automation to remove the irksome requirement to operate it."
Porsche Panamera: "Breaks Porsche's rule of functional design. Who thought that air vents that can have their direction changed only through a touchscreen was a good idea?"
Subaru WRX STI Type RA: "A relic from Subaru's Brutalist period, it's the antithesis of what 96 percent of its customer base values: It's loud, harsh, and busy. It's also incredibly fun, especially on gravel."
Toyota Avalon/Hybrid: "It exists for cruising the mega-slab, but there are no interstates on the 10Best loop."
Toyota Corolla Hatchback: "Good enough to make the 10Best list -- in 2008."
Volkswagen Jetta: "If the Golf is the sibling that lives in the suburbs, pulling down good scratch and maxing out its 401(k), the Jetta is the poor relation sheltering under a cardboard box at the bus station."
To clarify, there were a couple other vehicles that didn't make the list, but were close enough that their acknowledgements were less... mean. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio was well-loved by nearly everyone, but had so many issues that needed to be serviced when they had one long term, it was basically out of the running. The Tesla Model 3 Performance did very well too, but since it starts at nearly $80k, it was very hard to justify its value vs competitors. The Audi RS3 was on the 10Best list last year, but this year there was no way they were picking it over the M2 Competition, which has better performance and an improved ride vs its non-Competition predecessor, leaving C&D to look at the RS3 less as a threat and more as "a really expensive, really powerful VW Golf with a really small trunk." Harsh words. The Kia Stinger GT almost made the list last year, and the Kia Stinger 2.0T almost made it this year, but the Genesis G70 better captured the hearts of the C&D editors. The Camaro was bumped from the list by the newly-refreshed Mustang, not necessarily because the Mustang is the clear winner, but because Chevy's 2019 "refresh" of the Camaro gave each trim a new grille and not much else, preserving issues with livability in the cabin in the name of exterior design. And finally, Dodge brought some Challengers to the 10Best competition, for the third time in five years, but all they've done each time was add more power to a car that hasn't been fully redesigned in about 10 years.
Finally, here's a reminder of the 10 cars that did win this year:
BMW M2 Competition
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport/Z06
Ford Mustang GT/Bullitt
Genesis G70
Honda Accord
Honda Civic Sport/Si/Type R
Mazda MX-5 Miata/RF
Mercedes-Benz E450/AMG E53
Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman
Volkswagen Golf Family

2022 Volkswagen Taos 1.5T S SUV
The new 2022 Volkswagen Taos comes with a wide array of standard features, including a 158hp turbocharged 1.5L I-4 engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes. It has standard safety features, including a driver's seat-mounted airbag, Side Curtain Protection curtain 1st and 2nd row overhead airbags, and an airbag occupancy sensor.
It also has 17-inch alloy wheels and a cooled front seat. Lastly, the SUV has a host of available tech features, including a BeatsAudio stereo with eight speakers.
The Taos' cabin is filled with modern amenities, including a large touchscreen with intuitive controls, a navigation system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The new crossover has a high seating position, a comfortable ride, and great handling.
Tumblr media
And with its AWD capabilities, it may become a popular alternative to the Golf. But before you decide to buy the new 2022 Taos, you should know a little bit more about it for more details learn more.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is a mid-sized SUV that's designed specifically for the U.S. market. It is not the first VW to target this market, but it is the first one that isn't made to compete with the Toyota C-HR, Subaru Forester, and Honda HR-V.
Unlike its predecessors, the Taos has a more stylish appearance than its European counterparts. Its raised roof rails and struts help keep the cabin surprisingly quiet, and the cab seats allow for a comfortable and roomy ride.
The Taos is bigger than the Kia Seltos and Ford Bronco Sport, but it's more compact than any of these vehicles. However, its higher trims have a rear spoiler and extended roof, which enhances visibility. There's also a wide trunk door and LED taillights. The exterior styling of the Taos is very attractive. It's a great choice for the urban commuter.
The Taos' exterior is a nondescript crossover with a sporty look. Its upscale interior is a bit more modern than the previous generation's, but there's a distinct character. Its lowered height makes it easier to maneuver, and the rear-seat backseats are spacious and comfortable. The rear seats are more spacious than the front-drive Taos, but they're still smaller than the Atlas and Ford Bronco Sport.
Like other cars in the same class, the Taos looks good. Its looks are a great combination of attractive design and solid technology. The interior is spacious, with a comfortable seat for five passengers.
And a large backseat for a subcompact SUV is impressive. Its cargo space is generous, and the rear view is good. The 2019 VW Taos has a strong engine and a smooth ride.

Three Things to Know About the Volkswagen Tiguan
Did you know that the very first Volkswagen car was displayed at the Berlin Motor Show in 1939?
Since then, the company has gone on to become one of the most successful auto companies in the world, producing iconic vehicles such as the Volkswagen Beetle and the Volkswagen Transporter camper van.
Today’s models continue that tradition of style and performance and none more so than the Volkswagen Tiguan.
Read on as we take a look at three things you should know about this popular SUV.
1. It’s the Best-Selling Volkswagen Worldwide
Did you know that VW has two of the top five best-selling cars of all time in the Volkswagen Beetle and the Volkswagen Golf?
Today, their best-selling model worldwide is the Volkswagen Tiguan. It passed the six million unit mark in 2019 and in that same year a brand new Tiguan rolled off the production line every 35 seconds. Not only is it Volkswagen’s best-selling car, but it’s also one of the best-selling SUVs in the whole of Europe.
More than six million customers can’t be wrong!
2. It’s Packed With Features
A Volkswagen Tiguan offers a great drive and high levels of comfort, but it’s also packed with additional features.
There’s a 6.5-inch color touch-screen as standard. This features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can connect via Bluetooth or two USB ports.
You also get heated front seats, a digital cockpit display, an electrically-operated tailgate, heat-insulating glass, an auto-dimming interior mirror, alloy wheels, auto headlights and wipers, and a six-speaker stereo across all models.
If you’re looking for some optional extras, then you should take a look at one of the higher-spec models.
There Are Four Great Models To Choose From
There are four models of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan to suit every need.
The Tiguan S is the base model and includes all the features listed above. The Tiguan SE includes additional features such as remote start, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and leather upholstery for your Volkswagen Tiguan interior.
Next up is the SE R-Line Black which includes a panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, parking assist, and reverse automatic braking.
Top of the range is the SEL R-Line which is decked out with leather seats, power-adjustable seats for both driver and front passenger, a heated steering wheel, road sign recognition, a full surround-view parking camera system, and a nine-speaker stereo system.

Girl of the Week: October 14th-20th 2019 - Denise & Audi RS3
Tumblr media
If you're looking for a car that looks sharp, handles well, picks up like no others and has the braking power to stop a tractor trailer, with all the luxuries you'll ever need, Audi RS3 is the car for you. Powers great, handling is outstanding and the interior is both comfortable and nicely styled. It’s everything people are saying the RS is. It's so much fun to drive and looks and sounds awesome, basically the perfect choice for the new motor photoshoot of marvellous German car model and grid girl Denise. I guess God made some girls almost perfect, just like Denise, but there was something missing ... I think she found her missing piece, and it was this stunning silver Audi RS: blonde girls and Audi are a perfect combination, aren't they? Audi RS3, which landed in North America just two years ago despite being available overseas since 2013, is nearing the end of its current generation with an updated version for 2019. With a 400-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder under the hood, this sports sedan has the muscle to back up its menacing appearance. It boasts a redline of 6900 rpm, and the rip of its distinctive exhaust note sounds amazing the whole way there. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission routes torque to all four wheels; in our testing, the RS3 hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The Audi's most direct competitor is the Mercedes-AMG CLA45—a similarly nimble four-door with almost the same footprint—but managed a slightly slower 3.8-second run to 60 mph. The BMW M2, although only offered as a two-door coupe, is also a decent analogue to the RS3, but it needed 4.0 seconds to reach 60 mph in our testing. The RS3 feels razor-sharp, with responsive steering and an agile suspension. Its ride can be rough over pockmarked pavement—especially with the optional sport suspension—but if you're looking to maximize the RS3's fun potential, it tightens things up so you can really throw down. The RS3's interior is borrowed from the lower-powered S3 and the entry-level A3—which isn't a bad thing. It's a well-built cabin with plenty of tech features and more than a few surprises, such as the infotainment screen that rises out of the center of the dash upon startup or the optional digital gauge cluster with integrated Google Maps. Front sport seats are stylish, comfortable, and supportive and adults will easily find enough room in the first row. Back-seat occupants are treated to well-cushioned chairs but passenger space is tight. The RS3’s turbocharged five-cylinder engine will happily blast it from 0-62mph in a searing 4.1 seconds and on to a top speed of (if you pay extra to remove the limiter) 174mph – that’s serious sports car pace in a fairly practical five-door family car. Even more impressive is just how easy the Audi is to drive quickly. It soaks up bumps and potholes extremely well (especially with Audi’s optional adaptive suspension fitted), feels even more agile in tight corners and has seemingly endless grip thanks to its quattro four-wheel-drive system. Sure, it might not be quite as engaging as the no-holds-barred BMW M2 Competition on a racetrack, but the Audi’s still a real hoot to drive and mature enough to live with every day. It isn’t the most frugal five-door car on sale (even with a gentle touch on the accelerator you’ll struggle to better 25mpg) but it’s a doddle to drive, fairly relaxing at motorway speeds and safe – it’s based on the solid A3 Sportback, after all. Sadly, the RS3 still has one inescapable flaw – its price. It’s one of the quickest hot hatches on sale but it’ll set you back more than the M2 Competition, let alone cars like the Volkswagen Golf R and Honda Civic Type R. Still, head over to our deals pages to see how much you can save on one. #cargirl #fastcars #cargirls #carporn #RidinGirlsBlog #drivergirl #femaleriders #sexycar #AudiRS3 #AudiRS5 #Audi #luxurycars #carchick #suvlady #suv #speed #roadracing #ridingsexy #carracing #truckgirl #sportcar #girlswhoride #richgirls #audilove #gridgirl #riderich #Audigirl #subarubrzpremium #brzpremium #AudiTT #RS3 #RS #AudiRS #coupe #sportcar #frankfurt

Weekend court roll – our round-up of the most-read cases of the week
Our reporters have sat in courtrooms in the northeast this week handling a variety of cases – from the gambling addict who turned to crime to pay off his sprawling debts, to a trio of sexual deviants who, with two Shetland Islands, do some disgusting Things did ponies.
Gambling addict jailed for £ 223,000 worth of fraud
On Monday, a gambling addict who committed a “spectacular breach of trust” by embezzling more than £ 220,000 from one of Scotland’s largest law firms, was jailed.
Paralegal trainee Callum Scott admitted that he cheated £ 223,000 off his employer, Aberdein Considine, to pay off a series of payday loans that were used to quench his crippling addiction.
Callum Scott
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Scott, 23, “stole from Peter to pay Paul” during the four month scam.
Man started fire to scare ex-girlfriend
However, jail wasn’t the final outcome for Jordan Stewart.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Stewart start a fire in front of his ex-girlfriend’s house to scare her, “then laugh sadistically,” but he’s now given the opportunity to prove he’s a better person.
Tumblr media
Jordan Stewart.
Stewart waged a six-month terror campaign against the woman, including setting garbage bags on fire in front of her home and taking a crowbar to a closet in her property.
The 24-year-old also picked up a Stanley knife and slapped a door with it repeatedly when he made derogatory remarks at her home in mid-2020.
Supermarket clerk attacked in the aisles
A woman who assaulted a supermarket worker in the aisles in Aberdeen was found holding a knife when police showed up.
The crimes took place in Lidl’s Hutcheon Street. Portlethen woman Natalie Jenkins was caught in a separate incident with cocaine in her car – and another knife – in her car over the weekend, the Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told today.
Tumblr media
The crimes took place in Lidl’s Hutcheon Street
Jenkins admitted carrying a knife to Lidl’s Hutcheon Street store earlier this month and attacking an employee there.
Man mugged for two cans of beer and a ten
On TuesdayA man returning from a supermarket visit was viciously ambushed – a crime his attacker could not remember.
Charles Sim pounced on the 62-year-old in the early evening of June 18 last year and made off with two cans of beer and a ten.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Sim, 38, knock the man to the ground, repeatedly kick him in the body, hit him in the head, and repeatedly threaten to stab him unless he handed over his cell phone.
Rammy Prison Cell extends the sentence
An inmate at HMP Grampian was held behind bars for an additional 12 months on Tuesday after a killing spree in a cell in which he threatened to pour boiling water over prison officials.
Dale Davidson also tore apart the shower in his cell before sanding part of the door to make a makeshift gun, Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard.
Tumblr media
Dale Davidson, inset, committed the crimes at HMP Grampian in Peterhead.
When brave staff arrived at Peterhead Prison to calm the situation down, they were greeted by the angry inmate who waved the shower door like a battering ram and threatened to stab anyone who set foot in his cell.
Separation triggered abusive phone calls
On Tuesday, Louise Fraser also appeared before the Aberdeen Sheriff Court, who “bombarded” her former lover with insulting messages and phone calls for several months.
The court was told that Fraser’s angry reaction to the relationship breakdown in July 2019 sparked numerous phone calls to her ex-girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Louise Fraser outside the Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
She also repeatedly sent text messages, online messages, and emails over a six-month period – which resulted in the woman banning the 27-year-old from her social media channels.
It culminated in Fraser leaving threatening voicemails, behaving aggressively, and refusing to leave the woman’s home address.
Son fights for diving compensation
The widow and nine-year-old son of a tragic diver returned to court to sue the boat company hired for the fateful voyage.
Lex Warner, 50, died after leaving MV Jean Elaine while diving off the Sutherland coast in 2012.

Lex Warner with his wife Debbie and son Vincent
Mr Warner’s widow, Debbie, is suing Orkney’s Scapa Flow Charters in a £ 500,000 lawsuit on behalf of her nine-year-old son Vincent.
The pair were in the Edinburgh Court of Session on Tuesday to hear the opening evidence in the case.
The Racist Insult to the Nursing Home Worker
A homeworker in Aberdeenshire who was fired for racially insulting a colleague was fined Wednesday.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Victoria Costello, 26, get into a heated argument with an employee of the Havencourt Nursing Home in Stonehaven in May 2019, verbally abusing him with a racist slur.
Tumblr media
Victoria Costello leaves Aberdeen Sheriff Court. Aberdeen.
The dispute was sparked by a disagreement about the correct furnishing of a resident’s room.
During a staff meeting two days later, the maintenance technician highlighted the problem and later followed Costello into a lounge area to discuss the problem, standing up, berating the Nigerian citizen and uttering the racist term.
“She was a pretty hard worker, I’ll give her that”
The manager of a pub in Aberdeen praised the persistence of a female robber who had spent more than 30 minutes breaking her way into the building to snatch bottles of alcohol.
Jill Wiggins used items she found in the back of the Three Lums Pub – including a beer keg and a frying pan – to try to break a window.

The 42-year-old was caught by CCTV in the morning alcohol raid, but had long since disappeared by the time the officers arrived at the scene.
However, Wiggins – who also goes by the surname Smith or Knox – was caught quickly after calling 999 herself to ask for help just hours later.
Biker driving alcohol had a passenger on his back
A teenager who rode his motorcycle more than double the legal limit with a passenger on his back was banned from the street and warned a “may not be enough” fine.
Caleb Stewart had been drinking at a house party and only had a makeshift driver’s license when he sped his bike through Aberchirder with a passenger on his back.

Finance deputy Ellen Barr told Banff Sheriff Court that police discovered Stewart’s motorcycle around 11 p.m. on May 15 after neighbors complained about the way it was driving.
Woman spat on police officers when she told them: “I have Covid”
On Thursday, Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard a 23-year-old woman who claimed to have Covid-19 spat at police officers and threatened to infect them.
Hadlae-Beth Taylor was picked up by police after a breach of the peace in Ellons Ythan Place at the height of the global pandemic in June 2020.
Tumblr media
Hadlae Beth Taylor leaves Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
On her way to custody, she announced she had Covid-19 symptoms before repeatedly stepping into the interior of the police vehicle and spat and threatened to infect officials with the virus.
Nursing student cried after a car accident while she was over the limit
A young nursing student was fined and banned after crashing into four different cars while driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Megan Clark, 18, of Boddam, was more than double the alcohol limit when she plowed into vehicles in Roseangle, Dundee, in April.
Dents and scratches were caused on a Peugeot 208, Citreon C1, Kia Picanto and Volkswagen Golf.
Drunk Clark was confronted with witnesses who were concerned about her driving and initially denied causing the damage.
Then she burst into tears and said she was going to visit her boyfriend.
Drinks driver turned the car on the city street
A woman who rolled her car more than five times the alcohol limit has been banned from the streets for more than two years.
Rosemary Bennett was behind the wheel of Aberdeen’s Argyle Place early in the morning when she collided with a parked car and threw hers on the roof.
Aberdeen Sherriff Court heard the 29-year-old being found by a delivery driver who discovered the wreck and called the police and an ambulance.
Bennett was then escorted to the Kittybrewster Detention Center, where she read 117 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath. The limit is only 22 micrograms.
Teacher detained for sexual activity with students
On Friday, a school teacher was sentenced to 15 months in prison after engaging in sexual acts with two students.
Kieran Malcolmson was convicted of two charges after a trial in the Aberdeen Sheriff Court last month.

A distant jury found the majority of the 36-year-olds guilty of being in a position of trust as a teacher and of having directed sexual activities other than sexual intercourse with or against a student in 2009.
He kissed and had sexual activities with the girl while he was employed as a teacher at a school in Shetland.
Benefits Cheat had £ 100,000 in their bank account
A scammer who received nearly £ 35,000 in benefits while banked over £ 100,000 was told she was lucky not to be in jail.
Lorraine Mearns demanded thousands of pounds in taxpayers’ money by lying to officials about how much money she had in the bank over six years.
Tumblr media
© PRESS AND JOURNAL Lorraine Mearns
Between January 2012 and April 2018, Mearns knowingly misrepresented her income to the Department of Labor and Pensions in order to claim £ 13,368 in employment and benefit allowances that she was not entitled to.
She requested an additional £ 19,960 in housing and council tax breaks between November 2012 and March 2018 by doing the same to Aberdeen City Council.
Even her own lawyer said her claim that the fraud was accidental was “ridiculous”.
Sexual deviants had sex with Shetland ponies
A sexual deviator was jailed after having sex with a Shetland pony while his buddy evaded jail for being a teenager at the time.
Jordan Turnbull (28) and Joshua Lee-Paterson (20) each admitted to having an “unnatural connection” to different horses on the Cothal Farm in Fintray.
Tumblr media
Jordan Turnbull, Mark Findlater, and Joshua Lee-Paterson
Turnbull’s crime was committed between October and December 2018, while Lee-Paterson committed bestiality between October and November of the same year.
A third man, Mark Findlater, admitted to being charged with distributing “obscene material” about his co-defendants “sexual activity with horses” and was imprisoned for 13 months and two weeks.
The 34-year-old posted the disgusting pictures to a number of addresses in Dyce and elsewhere, and even to The Press and Journal.

Adieu Old Friend: Undoubtedly the Beetle will become an instant classic…again
By Michael Hozjan
It is with deep sadness that I have to report that Volkswagen has decided to axe the Beetle from its lineup. Hard to believe that it’s already been 20 years since the “New Beetle” was launched, and while the original was…lets just say less than spectacular, Wolfsburg did get it right with the second generation. Even going so far as touting that there was no flower vase in this one. But I suspect the damage had been done. And it’s too bad because the latest version is a truly handsome, wonderful car. Note the handsome connotation and not “cute”.  As I reported a couple of years back even the Harley guys love the sleek, low roof design.
Tumblr media
The Beetle is available in three trim levels starting with a base price of $21,895 for the Trendline and rising to $29,295 for the top of the line Dune. No matter the trim level, there’s only one engine/transmission combo a new 2.0L turbocharged four mated to a 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic (manual shifting). Choose the base model and you get 16” wheels with wheel covers, my tester, the Coast (formerly known as the Classic) arrived in a classy Silk Blue Metallic hue, it gets 17” wheels with alloy wheels that hark back at the classic looks of the ’67 Beetle. Step up to the Dune and you get 18” alloys and RoughRoad suspension – just the ticket for Quebec roads.
Tumblr media
Stepping up to the Coast you’re rewarded with a 6.33” touchscreen over the base car’s 5” unit, keyless entry/push button start cruise, panoramic power sunroof, sat radio as well as Android Auto, Apple Car Play and Mirrorlink connectivity. Whew, there’s also auto-dimming rear view mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a back up camera that is simply the best in the business. And this is where it becomes weird….the Beetle’s camera is hidden behind the large VW logo keeping the lens clean at all times, no matter the weather. My buddy’s new higher price Toureg has an exposed camera leaving it open to grime, slush and what not.
Tumblr media
My Coast came with the Style package – a $1970 option that includes bi-xenon LED head lights, as well as Led tail and plate lights, dual zone climate control, Fender premium audio system complete with a trunk mounted woofer, static cornering lights are a nice option for my country roads thank you.
Tumblr media
My previous Beetles had body colored dashboards, reminiscent of the old bug, the Coast gets a surfwood design with sandy colored – two tone cloth seating. Different, but I prefer the body colored version for the dash and well, for the material used, let’s just say VW has had quirky tastes over the last few years when it comes to patterns.  Otherwise the Beetle interior just plain works. It’s Teutonic simplicity at its best, no extravagant waste, just high quality fit and finish.
Tumblr media
Unlike the Golf that the Beetle is based on, where you’ve got vast spaces of room fore/aft/trunk the Beetle’s rear seat is best left for the groceries and kids. With two seat belts in the rear bench, the Beetle is a four passenger.  Thankfully the front seats offer loads of room no matter where you measure. What they lack in lateral support they make up for in comfort.
Tumblr media
The small trunk has always been a nagging point and even with the rear seat folded down, it falls far short of its cousin. But that’s the price you pay for the shape.
On the road
At one and a half tons the Beetle feels solid, very solid. In car talk it’s called tight, another Teutonic trait but this time in a car almost half the price of car’s with similar traits. Point the car and the wheels take you there, it’s precise, comfortable and agile, with perhaps a bit of too much sway, it’s no Porsche. The Continental WinterContact tires proved invaluable this past winter taking to ice, snow, and cold temps with aplomb.
Tumblr media
Ice? Not a problem.
Tumblr media
Where Beetle owners once fought to achieve highway speeds this latest Bug does it effortlessly. You may not win any stoplight-to-stoplight races with the 174 horses powering the front wheels, but then I don’t suppose that too many people who buy Beetles care about such things. Braking is spot on with very little to no fade from the four-wheel discs.  Gas mileage is more on the forefront of their minds and I still managed to eek out 7.7L/100kms in winter’s worst.
Nostalgia
There are of course other cars that are building on the nostalgia craze, the Fiat and Mini are both higher priced and have different advantages/drawbacks. Sadly the Beetle’s sales stats continue to plummet.
I.D.Buzz
Volkswagen is replacing the Beetle with another vehicle that harks back at VW’s glory days, the I.D. Buzz is a modern version of the Type 2 bus/van that was first imported to North America in the ‘50s and gained world prominence as the vehicle of choice for a generation of peace loving, pot smoking, free love, hippies. It was the coolest vehicle to see and be seen in. And fifty years later the 21-window iterations are fetching exotic car prices at car auctions like Barrett-Jackson.
Tumblr media
Volkswagen is betting a lot on the I.D. Buzz (God I hope they change the name by the time it hits the showrooms), the most progressive VW of all time. Scheduled for a 2022 release the fully electric bus is based on VW’s new Modular Electric Drive kit platform with 369 horses from the twin electric motors on each axle. That’s more than 10 ten times the power my ’56 split window! VW is shooting for a 300 mile range on a full charge and can be 80% recharged in half an hour using VW’s fast-charge system.
Ironically while the I.D. Buzz has taken the car show world by storm it won’t be the first vehicle to use the new plat form, that honor goes to the I.D. Crozz (an electric SUV) slated for a 2019/20 lunch. Talk about a buzz kill. Oh and while the I.D. Buzz may be reminiscent of the flower power generation something tells me VW won’t be pushing flower vases any more.  Till then go out get your self a Beetle and have fun. Like someone said one day a long tie ago...you can’t be angry with someone driving a Beetle.
Maybe just maybe I might get lucky enough to get into a convertible Beetle this summer.

The Audi R8: Origins, Generations, Specifications
Tumblr media
All things Audi R8 on Automobile.
Audi R8 Essential History Despite a rich motorsports history with overwhelming success in both rallying and endurance racing, Audi's always remained at arm's length when it came to producing a true sports car. The once-popular Audi TT has most of the right ingredients, but the front-wheel-drive underpinnings pulled primarily from the VW Golf kept it well below the Porsche Boxster, Nissan Z cars, and BMW's assorted roadsters and two-seat coupes.
Since the early 1980s, Audi remained content developing high-performance versions of its premium coupes and sedans, focusing on promoting all-wheel drive technology and turbocharged engines, even if the resulting speed-specials were softer and more road-oriented than the adrenalin-charging weapons from Mercedes-Benz' AMG or BMW's M division.
It was only during the early-2000s when the reality of an Audi supercar began to coalesce, born from Audi's ongoing Le Mans domination and the then-recent acquisition of Lamborghini by the Volkswagen Auto Group. To amortize the cost of development of the nascent Lamborghini Gallardo and to bring Audi a little closer in-line with Mercedes and BMW, the plan for the mid-engine Audi R8—the brand's first supercar—took shape with the Le Mans Quattro concept in 2003.
Audi Le Mans Quattro Concept Visually, the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept was nearly identical to the production R8 that arrived in 2007, though the wild twin-turbo V-10 engine was tossed for a more production-friendly iteration of Audi's naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V-8. Power was reasonable for a mid-engine sports car of the era, with 414 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque sent to all-four wheels through either Audi's R-Tronic six-speed automated manual or a gated six-speed manual transmission. Zero-to-60-mph times for these early R8s were around the low four-second mark, with a top speed around 188 mph.
The Audi R8 Goes V-10 For the 2009 model year, the R8's Lamborghini roots shone in full-force, when the updated 5.2-liter V-10 from the Lamborghini LP560-4 was shoehorned into the R8. Fun fact—that Lamborghini V-10 is actually an Audi V-10 pulled from the S6 and S8. So, the R8 V10 actually uses an Audi V-10 pulled from a Lamborghini, but we digress. The V-10 engine increased the R8's output to 518 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, dropping the zero-to-60 mph sprint to 3.9 seconds, and raising top speed to 196 mph.
The Audi R8 Spyder Drop-top Spyder variants launched for both the V-8 and the V-10 models, with the V-8 adding an extra 14 horsepower over the V-8 coupe, growing the total to 428 horsepower, though torque remained unchanged at 317 lb-ft. The limited edition R8 GT arrived in 2011, cutting 220 pounds from the curb weight of the regular R8 V10, while increasing the V-10's output to 552 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. As you'd expect, the R8 GT also brought with it a range of suspension, braking, and aerodynamic upgrades over the regular car to compensate for the additional power and to enlarge the overall performance envelope. Production of the GT was limited to 333 units worldwide, with an additional 333 unit run of the corresponding R8 GT Spyder.
The first-generation R8 received a mid-cycle refresh for 2012 in the rest of the world, arriving in the U.S. in 2013 as a 2014 model year. The refresh brought mostly aesthetic updates, though a few significant mechanical upgrades were also brought to the R8, most significantly a new seven-speed dual-clutch replacing the balky R-Tronic automated manual transmission. Standard magnetic damping was also added for the R8 V10, an optional upgrade for the V-8 models.
The R8 V10 Plus arrived on our shores in 2014, adding a new range-topping trim with extra power and performance in the same vein as the older R8 GT. The same 5.2-liter V-10 as found in the standard R8 V10 was upgraded to 542 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque in the R8 V10 Plus, which also got a re-tuned suspension, updated interior, and massaged aesthetics.
Second-Generation Audi R8 After these short-lived upgrades, the first-gen R8 was replaced by an all-new model in 2015 for the 2016 model year. In keeping with the Lamborghini bones of the prior generation, the second-gen R8 shares much of its structural DNA with the Lamborghini Huracan. This includes the familiar 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V-10—the only engine offered at the moment—initially available with either 533 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque in the base R8 coupe or 602 horsepower and 413 lb-ft in the R8 V10 Plus coupe. With the exception of the limited-edition R8 RWS (Rear Wheel Series), power is transferred to all-four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
For 2019, the second-gen R8 was updated with extra power and an aesthetic refresh. Power for the base coupe jumped to 562 horsepower and 413 lb-ft, while the newly renamed R8 Coupe Performance Quattro packs 602 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Performance for all iterations of the second-gen R8 is impressive; factory-quoted zero-to-60 mph times range between 3.2 seconds and 3.5 seconds, though these times have proven to be conservative in independent tests.
Audi R8 Highlights Time will likely be kind to the Audi R8. The first generation of the supercar consistently ranks at the top of many enthusiast's lists of best designs of the 2000s, and it's only going to get better with time. Although older R8s may carry a bit of a stigma as simply a used supercar, give it time—or pick one up now, while they are at the bottom of their depreciation curve.
Once the first R8s are out of the too-new-to-be-classic but too-old-to-be-cool dead zone, the R8 will be one of the better ways to get into something genuinely exotic for not much more than the price of entry to a loaded mid-size crossover SUV. Early V-8s are particularly inexpensive to purchase, and compared to a Ferrari or Lamborghini of similar vintage, significantly less expensive to keep on the road. As far as upkeep price goes, think more than a BMW or Audi sedan, and less than an Aston Martin—maintenance on a regular Porsche 911 is likely a good comparison.
By design, the R8 of any generation is a more professional, lower-key supercar—if that's even a thing. The current R8 is priced closer to the Porsche 911 Turbo, current Acura NSX, and Aston Martin Vantage than to Lamborghini's Huracán or McLaren's 720s, but in our experience, the R8 doesn't fall far short of those more exotic models in performance or theater. In fact, we'd likely take a new R8 over any of the listed alternatives on the strength of its sound and the vicious launch control. We've also heard whispers that a first-gen Audi R8 V10 with the gated manual transmission is one of the best "exotic" experiences that can be had for less than $100,000, so there's that.
Audi R8 Buying Tips Audi R8s of any generation or spec are fairly robust and shouldn't provide too many undue surprises mechanically. A thick sheaf of maintenance records is always a welcome inclusion with any potential purchase, as is a pre-purchase inspection at a local specialist or dealer. Parts availability for the R8 is high, considering even the oldest R8s still have factory support from Audi—for now. As stated above, expect regular maintenance bills similar to what you'd expect of a Porsche 911.
If you are in the market for a first-gen R8, we highly suggest you seek only those with either the six-speed manual transmission or the later dual-clutch examples. Avoid the R-Tronic at all costs; it's clunky, slow, relatively fragile, and for some enthusiasts, ruins the overall experience. Engine type matters, too, as V-8s will obviously be more affordable than the V-10s, but there is a significant difference in both speed and upkeep between the two engines—as well as a difference in prestige, which can enhance (or detract from) collectibility.
Audi R8 Auctions Despite undeniable desirability, the Audi R8 isn't collectible enough to cross the stage at major auction houses—yet. Bring a Trailer never disappoints, as the healthy record of sold R8s is enough to give an idea of what you might pay for a first generation. For second-generation R8s—the current model—there are enough on Audi lots that you might be better off getting one straight from the source.
This 2009 Audi R8 4.2 w/ six-speed manual and only 8,000 miles sold for $67,000

For an engaging drive, we'd pick the cleanest first-gen V-10 with the gated manual we could find. However, the current R8 is stunningly quick and aurally spectacular as any car we've driven, so perhaps one of the few R8 RWS would find its way into our dream garage. ผลบอล7mคะแนน
