thinking about this part from SATA (and prefacing this long ass post with that I'm just theorizing and I haven't really found anything new)
It had happened overnight, like it did for Dolores Dei. Twenty years ago, on the morning of the twenty-ninth of August, she [Ann-Margret Lund] woke up and her hair had turned grey. She hears music in her sleep; light from the kitchen window floods her hair and, for a moment, it looks golden again
we don't hear about Dolores's hair being gray in the game, and if this is still canon, I wonder when it happened. I think it couldn't have been at the time of her coronation, and the height of her popularity since she is depicted as blond in the church and the text... was it before her assassination maybe? or perhaps after the assassination?
there is a bunch of pale symbolism too with Ann-Margret. you could say it's a little inhuman
It doesn’t matter that the feeling of absence, silence, peace, and the smell of mould in her new shelter had entered her, secretly made her its own. She is a void.
the disappearance of her children took away the past from her body, (for a lack of a better phrase) (her body is shaped like she never gave birth and she has trouble remembering that she had children)
Dolores Dei's assassin said there was something about Dolores that wasn't human
Encyclopedia - Something that had walked in our midst, watching us stumble for hundreds, if not thousands of years, until it decided to interfere -- interfere in the course of our history. 'We were supposed to come up with this ourselves!' the man was reported to have screamed at the innocence... Encyclopedia - Dolores Dei was shot in the chest with a fowling piece, eight times. The man, thought to be insane, said he once touched her and her body had been unnaturally warm, like a furnace -- and that sometimes while on duty he observed her forgetting to breathe for over ten minutes... Encyclopedia - This *inhuman* quality was witnessed by many others as well -- glowing lungs and all. It is commonly attributed to mass hysteria and religious psychology.
what if Dolores's hair turned grey overnight after she died, as this inhuman something left her body
#29th of august is the day after the lund sisters disappeared right?#sacred and terrible air#I remembered this part as I was watching twin peaks and leland's hair turned white overnight and i was like hold up

"Enhancing Laptop Speed: Why and How to Upgrade to an SSD"
A Solid State Drive (SSD) upgrade for laptop is a type of storage device that uses flash memory to store data, unlike traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) that use spinning disks and mechanical parts. SSDs offer several advantages over HDDs, including faster data access speeds, greater reliability, and lower power consumption.
Benefits of Upgrading to an SSD
Faster Performance:
Boot Times: SSDs can reduce boot times from several minutes to just seconds.
Application Loading: Programs and applications load much faster on an SSD, improving overall system responsiveness.
Increased Reliability:
Durability: SSDs have no moving parts, making them more resistant to physical damage from drops or bumps compared to HDDs.
Enhanced Battery Life:
Power Efficiency: SSDs consume less power than HDDs, which can lead to longer battery life on laptops.
Quieter Operation:
Noise Reduction: SSDs operate silently, unlike HDDs which can generate noise from spinning disks and moving read/write heads.
Improved Multitasking:
Speed Boost: SSDs handle multiple tasks and large files more efficiently, making multitasking smoother and faster.
How to Upgrade to an SSD
**1. Choose the Right SSD
Compatibility: Ensure the SSD is compatible with your laptop. Check your laptop’s specifications to determine the type of SSD you need (e.g., SATA or NVMe) and its form factor (e.g., 2.5-inch, M.2).
Capacity: Select an SSD with sufficient storage capacity for your needs. Consider upgrading to a larger SSD if you require more space for files and applications.
**2. Backup Your Data
Data Backup: Before starting the upgrade, back up all important data to an external drive or cloud storage to prevent data loss.
**3. Prepare for Installation
Tools: Gather necessary tools such as a screwdriver (if needed) and any required adapters or cables.
Cloning Software: Use disk cloning software to create a copy of your existing HDD’s contents onto the new SSD. This ensures you don’t lose any data or settings during the upgrade.
**4. Install the SSD
Turn Off the Laptop: Power down your laptop and disconnect it from any power sources. Remove the battery if it is removable.
Open the Laptop: Access the laptop’s storage compartment. This usually involves removing a panel or, in some cases, the entire back cover.
Remove the Old Drive: Unscrew and carefully remove the old HDD or SSD. Disconnect any cables or connectors attached to it.
Install the New SSD: Insert the new SSD into the drive bay or slot. Secure it with screws or connectors as needed.
Reconnect and Close: Reconnect any cables, replace the cover or panel, and reinsert the battery if removed.
**5. Set Up the SSD
Boot Up: Power on your laptop and boot from the SSD. If you used cloning software, your operating system should start as usual.
Initialize and Format: If the SSD is new or not cloned, you may need to initialize and format it using the operating system’s disk management tools.
Restore Data: Transfer your data back to the SSD if necessary, or reinstall applications and settings.
Considerations
Warranty: Check whether upgrading the SSD affects your laptop’s warranty. Some manufacturers may void the warranty if you open the laptop or replace components yourself.
Performance Settings: After installing the SSD, you might need to adjust performance settings or update drivers to optimize the new drive’s performance.
Storage Management: Regularly manage and clean up your SSD to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Conclusion
Upgrading to an SSD can provide a significant boost to your laptop’s speed, reliability, and overall user experience. By selecting the right SSD, backing up your data, and following the proper installation steps, you can enjoy the benefits of faster boot times, improved application performance, and a more efficient laptop. Whether you’re looking to enhance productivity or extend the life of your device, an SSD upgrade is a worthwhile investment in your technology

Investigate SSD Types: SATA, NVMe, M.2, U.2, and PCIe
SSD Types
For anyone looking to improve performance and efficiency in data handling and storage, solid-state drives (SSDs) have completely changed the data storage industry and are now necessary components. An SSD can significantly increase system responsiveness by cutting down on loading times.
Games and video editing require SSD types with non-volatile memory express (NVMe) technology since these SSDs can read and write data at over 7,000 MB/s. Because M.2 SSDs enable more elegant and effective computing solutions, the design of ultrabooks and tiny PCs is changing. With their versatility and scalability, U.2 SSDs fill the void left by conventional 2.5-inch SATA drives and PCIe-based NVMe storage. Professional data processing skills are being revolutionised by PCIe SSDs, which leverage the high-bandwidth PCIe interface to provide unparalleled storage performance.
Now let’s examine the various SSD varieties, including the well-known SATA, the cutting-edge NVMe drive, the small M.2, the adaptable U.2, and the high-performance PCIe versions.
Comprehending the subtle differences between SSD types enables you to fully utilise contemporary data storage options, be it for updating computers in your company or setting up a data centre. In order to meet a range of storage requirements, each SSD types has unique benefits.
Different Types of SSDs and How They Work for Storage
Utilising flash memory technology rather than the moving parts found in hard drives, SSDs offer different data access and endurance. For applications that require high-performance data storage, SSD types are an excellent choice because of these capabilities.
Varied SSD types form factors for varied performance and space needs are available for solid-state drives. To choose a drive that meets the device’s physical specifications and the application’s performance requirements, it is essential to comprehend SSD form factors. Compactness, ease of use, compatibility with current hardware setups, and fast data transfer are just a few of the benefits that each form factor offers.
What Is SATA SSD?
Solid-state drive technology can be easily accessed through SATA SSDs, also known as serial ATA solid-state drives. The majority of current systems can be used with these drives because they make use of the SATA interface, a common connection protocol used in most PCs and laptops. NVMe and other more recent SSD technologies outperform SATA SSDs in terms of raw performance, despite the fact that SATA SSDs have revolutionised storage by considerable speed improvements over traditional hard drives.
ATA SSDs are widely used for everyday computer operations such as installing operating systems, playing games, and using general productivity apps. They outperform traditional hard drives in terms of performance. In terms of performance, however, NVMe SSDs exceed them because to a more advanced interface that allows for even greater data transfer rates and lower latency.
A popular option for cost-conscious businesses and individuals, SATA SSDs can be easily integrated into current systems and are reasonably priced, even with their performance restrictions. Their broad compatibility and simplicity of installation make them a cost-effective upgrade option for outdated hardware or adding more storage to newly installed systems.
What Is NVMe SSD?
With their extremely low latency and rapid speeds, NVMe SSDs revolutionised storage performance. NVMe fully realises the potential of solid-state technology by leveraging the PCIe interface created especially for flash-based SSD storage, in contrast to SATA interfaces. NVMe M.2 is one of the form factors that this storage type can be used to.
Server settings, data-intensive apps, and video editing are just a few of the demanding workloads that NVMe SSDs thrive in. For consumers that need the best possible performance and responsiveness from their storage devices, their high throughput and low latency are invaluable.
What Is M.2 SSD?
The compact shape and superior performance of M.2 SSDs make them a popular small, high-speed storage option for usage in contemporary computers.
M.2 SSDs, which measure 22mm (.87 inches) wide and vary in length, plug directly into a motherboard slot, making them excellent for laptops and small-form-factor PCs with little space.
SATA or PCIe interfaces can be used with M.2 SSDs. Nonetheless, compared to conventional SATA SSDs and hard drives, those that use the PCIe interface especially with NVMe support offer better data transfer rates.
When it comes to high-demand applications like gaming, multimedia editing, and data analysis, this speed boost significantly increases system boot times, programme loading times, and file transfer speeds.
The fact that M.2 SSDs connect directly to the motherboard, saving extra power and data cords and simplifying internal computer layouts, is another advantage of these drives. Installing them involves motherboard M.2 slot type, size, and interface compatibility checks.
Which is a PCIe SSD?
PCIe SSDs perform well due to their high bandwidth. These SSDs can transmit data quickly by directly connecting to the PCIe bus, making them excellent for high-speed applications.
PCIe connects high-speed electronics to the motherboard. PCIe supports x2 or x4 data lanes for M.2 SSDs, offering better bandwidth than SATA. This speeds up data transfer, boosting system booting, software launches, and huge file manipulations.
Performance-critical devices like gaming rigs, enterprise servers, and high-end workstations frequently have PCIe SSDs installed. Unmatched responsiveness and efficiency are guaranteed by their capacity to utilise PCIe lanes to their fullest.
What’s U.2 SSD?
NVMe PCIe SSDs and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs converge in U.2 SSDs. Their U.2 interface combines hot-swappable drive bays with NVMe’s speed boosts.
U.2 SSDs excel in enterprise and data centre environments focused on performance, scalability, and durability. They have NVMe SSD-like data transfer rates and lower latency than SATA drives. They are attractive to enterprises looking to improve storage without rebuilding the system because they work with existing infrastructure.
Comparable to conventional SATA drives, U.2 SSDs have the advantage of fitting into normal drive bays. This lessens the need for major changes and allows for simple incorporation into current server architectures.
Additionally, U.2 SSDs may be hot-swapped, which is a vital capability for mission-critical applications when downtime is not an option. This allows administrators to upgrade or replace drives on the fly without stopping systems or disrupting functions.
Organisations can attain a finely balanced combination of performance and adaptability by adopting U.2 SSDs. Along with guaranteeing compatibility and simplicity of deployment inside pre-existing infrastructure, these drives provide the speed and responsiveness required for demanding applications. Enterprise environments are increasingly prioritising agility and efficiency in their IT operations, and U.2 SSDs are a practical option for fostering storage innovation.
Let’s examine the numerous varieties of NAND flash storage now that we’ve discussed SSD types.
Types of NAND storage
NAND flash memory powers SSD storage. The four types of NAND flash are SLC, MLC, TLC, and QLC. Their variations affect performance, endurance, and cost-effectiveness. They also differ in the amount of bits held in each memory cell.
SLB
Although SLC NAND costs more per gigabyte, it delivers the maximum performance and longevity. Although SLC SSDs are more expensive per gigabyte than other NAND types, they are perfect for enterprise applications where reliability and constant performance are critical. The single bit of data that each memory cell retains enables greater dependability and faster read and write rates.
MDL
The combination of excellent performance, long life, and affordability is achieved by MLC NAND. MLC SSDs provide increased storage capacity and affordability with reasonable performance and reliability thanks to the two bits that each memory cell stores. Consumer-grade SSDs typically contain this kind of NAND, which offers a strong balance between speed and affordability.
Taking Care
Three bits are stored in each memory cell of TLC NAND, which is optimised for financial savings by sacrificing some endurance in favour of higher storage density. For common consumer applications like laptops and desktops, TLC SSDs are a good fit since they provide greater capacities at more affordable prices.
QLC
Cheap SSDs aimed at large-scale storage applications typically contain QLC NAND. As the least expensive NAND type per gigabyte, QLC NAND maximises storage density by storing four bits per memory cell. QLC SSDs are the best option for low-cost mass storage applications where speed is not as important, such data archiving and secondary storage, because of their higher density at the sacrifice of performance and endurance.
NAND in 3D Vertical
Higher capacities and better performance are possible with 3D vertical NAND (V-NAND) technology than with conventional planar NAND. V-NAND stacks NAND cells vertically in many layers. 3D V-NAND SSDs are a popular option for high-performance computing and enterprise applications because of their design, which permits increasing density without losing reliability or speed. It is more space-efficient and scalable to fulfil the needs of contemporary data storage solutions because of the vertical stacking of cells, which minimises the footprint.
Handling Environmental Concerns and SSD Longevity in Balance
SSD types longevity and dependability are greatly increased by overprovisioning, the process of assigning extra NAND flash capacity above and beyond claimed storage. Although overprovisioning extends the lifespan of SSD types, it also raises concerns about resource consumption and environmental impact. A comparison of the benefits and prospective environmental costs is necessary to assess the sustainability of overprovisioning benefits.

it turns out that 64 gb for the steam deck is actually a problem, for the same reason 128 gb for my install of linux mint is turning out to be a problem. lol. i moved the shader caches to the sd card but that's definitely slower and causes some problems with fancier games. i think kingmaker is kinda slow for this reason.
... but there is a 500 gb m2 ssd in the living room that's kinda not really being used......... or at least could be swapped with a sata drive.................. but it would void my warranty............................. but it's only a 12 month warranty............................................. so maybe next year

Could you do 24 for Yoruko. The setting for this could be durin the killing game and Yoruko needing come after... let's say the third trial {Lord knows we all did after see sata- I mean Kanede and her demonic faces.}
Yes indeed...Kanade's demon faces scare me a lot. Especially when you don't expect them.
24) "Would it help if I stayed with you?"
.......
The fact that not one, not two, but three people died on the third island was enough to leave everyone in shambles.
It was such a bizarre and heartbreaking case, considering the gruesome display of Setsuka's corpse, Hibiki's anguish and panic, and Kanade's true colors.
Now that it was possible for anyone to be a murderer, and not just Void, hope seemed bleak. And it kept everyone up late into the night.
You found Yoruko at your door, still in-tears as you embraced one another. The poor woman was shaking in your arms, not caring if anyone passed by and saw you two like this.
"Would it help if I stayed with you?" You suggested, her brief nod indicating that she didn't want to be alone.
So you brought her inside your room, moving aside the items relating to your talent so she didn't trip on anything. Then you sat down together on the bed, murmuring comforting words as she sobbed for a few minutes longer.
"....I-I'm sorry." She finally managed to speak, breaking the hug as she looked at you tearfully. "I..I just...everything's been so overwhelming lately and..."
"You don't have to apologize." You got her a tissue, offering a sympathetic smile. "I'm scared, too..but we'll get through this...somehow."
That was all you could say without trying to sound too positive. There was no turning away from the grim truth no matter how much you wanted to deny it. You couldn't pretend that the third trial never happened.
Fortunately Yoruko seemed to have calmed down fully, though her hands still trembled as you held them. "..I don't want to do any investigating tomorrow."
"That's okay, me neither. We can just stay here. Take some time to calm down." You reassured. "I'll get us snacks at the mart in the morning."
She nodded in understanding, feeling better now that you were here.
At this point she didn't know who to trust anymore. But...she could at least trust her partner--the one who was always on her side and defended her no matter what.
All you two had was each other.

2009 mac mini ram upgrade
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade upgrade#
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade pro#
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade plus#
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade mac#
To open the Mini up, you need the stupid putty knife method - the person who designed this case is a complete idiot. Touch some metal objects to discharge any static. Now shutdown the computer and remove all peripherals and power leads. Reboot the machine holding alt (the alt-key on the new keyboard works finally) and make sure you can boot from the external drive. Download Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) or SuperDuper - I used CCC - and clone your internal onto the external drive. Format the external drive as GUID partition map (important!) and HFS+ Extended Journaled with disk utility. When you get all the parts, put the drive into the enclosure and plug it into your new machine, which you should have setup (don't setup Bootcamp yet though).
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade mac#
I also got a cheap Mac compatible 2.5" SATA enclosure from ebay for under £10: I opted for 4GB RAM (check Crucial for the right kind) and a 250GB 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar hard drive (they are supposed to be quieter than Seagates and I can verify they are pretty quiet).
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade upgrade#
What you will need to do first of all is buy your upgrade parts.
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade plus#
What I did was upgrade to 4GB Ram and a 250GB 7200rpm drive for £630 plus I can get £50 back, which I'll explain so overall £580 The 4GB Ram upgrade costs £120 and a 250GB 5400rpm drive is £80. The base Mini is 2GHz Core 2 Duo for £499. If you're not sure about it, pay an Apple Certified Tech to do the upgrade for you but then you won't save much money.Īpple's upgrade prices on the Mini are quite expensive so this can save you some money. There are actually no stickers inside that you have to break to change the RAM or HDD and I didn't find it to be all that bad. If you plan on upgrading yourself, doing any damage inside can void your warranty. Learn more about the new iMac on the Apple site.I thought I would provide a few tips for upgrading the 2009 Mac Mini, which some guides don't cover fully. Delivery will begin the second half of May. You'll be able to pre-order the new 24" iMac next Friday at 8 AM EDT. It's an easy decision that will future-proof your system and deliver performance gains as well. For the top-tier iMac, which already has 512GB of storage, that means spending $200 to increase it to 1TB. That's why I recommend you spend your upgrade money on doubling your SSD storage. Also, if your SSD is full, that means your system can't swap out some of that memory to boost performance as needed. Sure, you can plug an external SSD into one of the Thunderbolt ports for fast transfer (and I'll have a list of excellent ones for you in the near future) but it's not as fast as on-chip storage. While upgrading your storage drive was possible (albeit difficult) with previous iMacs, it's impossible to do so with the new M1 chips. Even offloading storage to my iCloud Drive, I've still nearly filled the entirety of my 1TB SSD drive. While you might not need more than 8GB of unified memory in your new iMac there is one thing that you should immediately upgrade when you configure your new machine.Ĭhances are your current system's storage is already bursting with documents, images, movies, and apps. But your money could be spent better elsewhere. If you have the money, there's no reason to not upgrade. For most users 8GB is going to be more than enough for day-to-day computing tasks. With a unified memory upgrade being so cheap, you might wonder why I'd recommend not spending the money. This number is far from the wallet-blistering Apple-tax that upgraders used to pay for factory RAM. You can upgrade to 16GB for a measly $200. However, if you're editing large 4K videos or doing other extremely intensive tasks, you might benefit from additional unified memory in your system.
#2009 mac mini ram upgrade pro#
Reviews of the first M1 systems (the MacBook Pro and Mac Mini) show that Apple has finally been able to create a system with a base of 8GB of RAM that not only performs well but outperforms previous systems with twice as much RAM (also, it's called "unified memory" now). Everything just works together and borrows processing from each other as needed. The CPU and GPU aren't both trying to access data pathways on the logic board. There's no memory swapping or rewriting of data between your RAM and SSD. The M1 chip can dynamically use whatever it needs, from whichever component it needs, instantaneously. Having everything on a single chip changes that fundamentally. RAM is a system's short term memory and having lots of it means you can do more and larger tasks simultaneously without slowing things down. Traditional thinking has always said, add as much RAM as you can afford. But the more I researched the new M1 chip and how it's performed in the new MacBook Pro and Mac Mini, the less concerned I was. As someone who falls into that category, I expected to be more upset at the change.

Ueli Steck (German: [ˈyːli ʃtɛk]; 4 October 1976 – 30 April 2017) was a Swiss rock climber and mountaineer.
ULI is the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world. ULI is its members—delivering the mission, shaping the future of the industry, and creating thriving communities around the globe. Function: agp, audio, fir, ide, ieee1394, irq miniport, lan, memory stick, sata, sd, usb. Chip: m1535, m1535+, m1535d, m1535d+, m1541.
He was the first to climb Annapurna solo via its notoriously challenging South Face, and set speed records on the North Face trilogy in the Alps. He won two Piolet d'Or awards, in 2009 and 2014. Having previously summitted Mount Everest, Steck died on 30 April 2017 after falling during an acclimatizing climb for an attempt on the Hornbein route on the West Ridge of Everest without supplemental oxygen. He fell off from mount Nuptse.
Career[edit]
At the age of 17, Steck achieved the 9th difficulty rating (UIAA) in climbing. As an 18-year-old he climbed the North Face of the Eiger and the Bonatti Pillar in the Mont Blanc massif. In June 2004, he and Stephan Siegrist climbed the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau within 25 hours. Another success was the so-called 'Khumbu-Express Expedition' in 2005, for which the climbing magazine Climb named him one of the three best alpinists in Europe.[citation needed] The project consisted of the first solo climb of the north wall of Cholatse (6,440 m) and the east wall of Taboche (6505 m).[1]
Steck set his first speed record on the North Face of the Eiger in 2007, climbing it in 3 hours and 54 minutes.[2] The record was lowered by Steck himself to 2 hours 47 minutes 33 seconds the following year.[3]
In May 2008, climbing Annapurna, he broke off his ascent due to an avalanche threat, but the next week climbed to assist Spanish climber Iñaki Ochoa de Olza, who had collapsed. Medical help was slow in coming and the Spanish climber died despite Steck's help.[4][5]
In 2008, Steck was the first recipient of the Eiger Award for his mountaineering achievements.[6]
In April 2013, Steck and two other mountaineers, Simone Moro and Jonathan Griffith, were involved in an incident with several Sherpas who were fixing ropes for commercial expeditions on the Lhotse face above camp 2 on the Mount EverestSouth Col route which subsequently escalated into a dangerous confrontation with many Sherpas after Steck and his companions returned to camp 2, and became an international media event.[7][8][9][10][11]
On 8 and 9 October 2013 Steck soloed the Lafaille route on the South Face of Annapurna.[12] on the main and highest part of the face;[13] this was his third attempt on the route and has been called 'one of the most impressive Himalayan climbs in history',[14] with Steck taking 28 hours to make the trip from Base Camp to summit and back again.[15] The face had previously been climbed by the 1970 British Annapurna South Face expedition using siege tactics and taking nearly two months.[16] Steck's was the first solo ascent of Annapurna, which won him his second Piolet d'Or.[17]
In the winter of 2014/15, Steck and Michael Wohlleben [de] linked up the three north faces of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo/Drei Zinnen in 16 hours.[18] In the summer of 2015, he climbed all 82 summits in the Alps higher than 4000 meters in 62 days without the use of motorized travel.[19][20] Two days slower than the 60-day record, his time included a period when Steck had suspended the tour on July 22, after his climbing partner on the Aiguille de Rochefort, Martijn Seuren, had fallen to his death on this final peak to make him the first Dutch person to climb all 82 4000ers.[18][21] Later that year Steck set a new record for the North Face of the Eiger, soloing it in 2 hours 22 minutes and 50 seconds.[2][22]
In April 2016, Steck and his German mountaineering partner, David Göttler, found the bodies of Alex Lowe and paraglider David Bridges.[23] Lowe and Bridges were killed in an avalanche in 1999 while searching for a route up Shishapangma to attempt the first ski descent.[24]
Personal life and death[edit]
Steck was born as the third son to a copper smith in the town of Langnau in the Emmental valley in Switzerland. As a child he played hockey and joined his father on ski tours.[25] He was a carpenter by training and in adulthood lived in Ringgenberg near Interlaken, Switzerland.[3]
Steck died on 30 April 2017 while acclimatizing for an attempt of the Hornbein route on the West Ridge of Everest without supplemental oxygen.[26] This route had been climbed only a few times, the last of which was in 1991. His plan was to climb the Hornbein Couloir to the summit, then proceed with a traverse to the peak of Lhotse, the world's fourth highest mountain. This combination had not been achieved.[27]
On April 16, during preparations for the attempt, his climbing partner, Tenji Sherpa, suffered frostbite, which would take some weeks to heal. Steck carried on with scouting and acclimatisation, climbing up to Everest's Camp 2, en route to the South Col. On April 29, he changed his plans, texting Tenji that he would climb the nearby peak of Nuptse instead, and did not respond to a follow-up question.[28]
On April 30, he began climbing at around 4:30 AM with a French climber named Yannick Graziani [fr] who was attempting to climb Everest. When Graziani headed towards Camp 3, Steck broke off to the right to climb Nuptse. [27] He was last seen partway up the face around dawn by several Sherpas and expedition members around the valley.[28] Approximately 300 metres (980 ft) below the summit, he fell an estimated 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). It is not known what caused the fall. His body was found in the Western Cwm, between camps 1 and 2, and transported back to Kathmandu where memorial services were held.[29][28]
Steck was survived by his wife Nicole.[30]

LUMEVAIKUTUS eli plasebo on paljon tutkittu ilmiö, jossa potilaan oireet voivat helpottua pelkän lumelääkkeen syömisestä. Tutkimuksissa pelkkiä sokeripillereitä saaneiden aivoissa on havaittu aivan samojen neurokemiallisten prosessien aktivoitumista kuin oikeaa lääkettä saaneilla. Jopa lumekirurgia vaikuttaa.
Sillä on kuitenkin ikävämpi sisar, nimeltään nosebo.
He kuitenkin yhdistivät oireet tuoksuun.
