A couple of weeks ago I was on the island Runde and my dream of photographing puffins came true!

It was incredibly hard to capture the puffins in flight because despite their weird shape they are very fast. They can fly as fast as 88 kmh. Of course they don’t approach the cliffs where they breed with full speed but they’re still pretty fast until they’re very close to their landing spot which meant capturing them in the frame, following them and getting them into focus within like 5 seconds from first seeing them til they land.

Gleich vorne weg – ein Muss für jeden Ornithologen, auch außerhalb von Baden-Württemberg! Ich habe noch nie so genaue Angaben zu Vögeln gelesen, wie in diesen Bildbänden (es gibt fünf davon zu den unterschiedlichen Ordnungen). Lange habe ich nach solchen Werken gesucht, wo alles fundiert nachzulesen ist. Es beschreibt zwar in erster Linie die Avifauna Bad.-Württ., aber zusätzlich auch europaweit…
