Nightcord Kaito is actually my favourite virtual singer from project sekai. He’s so angry I love him. (I changed his hair to kinda resemble the character from the original Samsa mv)

Just learned a YouTube comment I made about the ECHO light novel has received 36 likes and someone commented that they found the light novel and thanked me for sharing its existence. I feel so alive right now.
Anyways,if you haven't already, go read it. If you have Google Play its in the books section. Please. I'm tired of there being no fan content for this stuff and I'm not sure how much this blog has helped.

what is kagepro? - a quick guide
you may be seeing the word "kagepro" around a whole bunch, especially during august, but what the hell is it?
you may have heard or seen something from kagepro without realizing it! you know that vocaloid song, kagerou daze, about the kids who get hit by a truck and are stuck in a timeloop of saving each other? that's actually one of the songs from kagepro.
kagepro, short for the kagerou project, is a series created by vocaloid composer jin (also known as shizen no teki-p). it's a mixed media series that has music, manga, an anime, movie, a radio talk show, books, etc but i’ll try to keep it simple!
basic premise: people who die on 8/15 are taken to another world called the kagerou daze and if they return to the real world, they will have gained a “snake ability” that will turn their eyes red when used. a group of teens that have these abilities form a little gang but are thrown into an endless timeloop.
THE MEDIA
if you want to get into it, there’s a bunch of different ways you can do it, but do keep in mind: each form of media is NOT just a different adaptation of the story.
kagepro is a timeloop story, and each form of media is actually a different timeline (or “route”). the music videos, the anime, the manga, the books - each one is only a piece of the whole story. that’s why many people may have seen the anime, mekakucity actors, and gotten super confused because the anime is actually one of the last routes haha.
but the order of media that has been generally agreed upon to be the most coherent is music videos -> manga -> light novels -> anime
a lot of kagepro media, esp the light novels and manga, are hard to find since they’re almost entirely out of print, but there’s translations or e-book versions of them available, or if you skip them there’s summaries that people have made. you can also ask me if you want :]
music videos
i’ve actually made a couple playlists for the songs! one is in release order and the other is in story chronological order (mostly).
release order: - i tried to get all the original ia/miku versions of the songs with the original pv if there was one - a couple might be a little out of order since some songs came out together in the same album
this is the order that fans got the music, so if you want to try to figure things out and put things together the way we did you can go with this order!
chronological order: - tried to grab some english covers where i could, but if you don’t like eng covers there are plenty of noneng covers or you can use the videos from the other playlist. there's plenty of really great covers out there! - exceptions to the “chronological”: children record acts as the cover/opening song for the series and summertime record is the ending song for the series - some songs aren’t in here bc they’re not part of the music route (they’re mostly from the newer albums and are kinda like ‘epilogue’ songs after the ending of the anime/good ending or are songs made for the anime)
THE STORY
if you don't want to go through all the media yourself, here’s a video explaining the whole story by breadbox/david toth! he also has other really great kagepro videos
youtube
[a bit of an extra] a very common misconception about the story/mechanics: people do not have to die in pairs or with somebody else on 8/15 to enter the daze. i didn’t realize this myself until super recently
all in all, the kagerou project is a story about finding strength and support from the people around you, moving on to look towards the future, and overcoming trauma.
there’s definitely other people who have also made guides or summaries or videos that are much better and cover much more than i did, but i hope this was a decent introduction!
feel free to reach out and/or ask me anything! i'm sure there are also plenty of people who would be willing to help newcomers understand kagepro as well :]
happy kagerou day!

Speaking of Gregor songs, Milli or otherwise... Did you know there's a vocaloid song called "Samsa" based on the Metamorphosis novel? I don't know if that's the sort of thing that interests you, but I know I start frothing at the mouth when I hear anything from the Man of La Mancha musical due to my own favourite sinner, so I thought I'd share my favourite English cover of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3krL2bthVio&pp=ygUFc2Ftc2E%3D
i have in fact heard samsa though i will give the disclaimer that it is because i'm a vocaloid fan, not a project sekai fan. it's not like my favorite song ever but i do like it i always enjoy seeing metamorphosis references it's fun

Bushiroad Games and Frontwing announce visual novel Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka for PC - Gematsu
Tumblr media
Publisher Bushiroad Games and developer Frontwing have announced visual novel Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka for PC. It will launch in 2025 with English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese language support.
Here is an overview of the game, via its official website:
About
Industry veteran Yukito Urushibara and prolific illustrator Saine join forces for the first time to craft a stunning tale about a group of young people in an eerie world of endless twilight. Follow their story as they struggle against limitless cruelty and confront the inescapable traumas of life and death together. Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka is the latest visual novel written by Yukito Urushibara, whose work on Irotoridori no Sekai and Sakura Moyu captivated players with stories that inspire hope as readily as they induce despair. The cast of colorful-yet-broken characters is brought to life by Saine, whose experience as the illustrator of various Vocaloid music videos (“mikitoP “Kunoichi demo Koi ga shitai) and as a VTuber designer (“Kamishiro Kurea,” “Watagashi Unou,” “Hoshikage Lapis,” and “Kozuya Nano” among others) lets the delicate twilight world bloom with a resplendent touch.
Story
The human heart is but a vessel for pain. That’s what someone once whispered-a voice laced with loneliness, whispering directly into the soul. It’s an indescribable sadness, a love just beginning to bloom. It becomes an invisible pain that pierces the heart. And that’s what makes up life: a cyclical series of highs and lows. Tachibana Sai was born without the ability to feel pain in his heart. He spends his days eliminating any seeds of malice that sneak up on his sister, the one person he treasures, without drawing attention to himself. Sick of the never ending monotony he lives through, he chances upon a meeting with Benio Matsuri, a young girl whose aloof demeanor resembles that of a beautifully crafted doll. For the first time in his life, he encounters a heart piercing sensation that of falling in love. On the edge between day and night, in a twilight world where the dead and living mingle, stands an apartment building called Maison sans Nom, which is home to a group of boys and girls. A ruthless boy who knows no pain in his heart. A lonely girl without any friends. A friendly girl who struggles to make connections. A prickly, ambitious girl who is keen to be of help. A boy who loves his own cute self above anything else. A mess of a woman who tries to solve everything through brute force. And a boy with a tender heart who knows no pain in his body. This ill-assorted group of residents, hands stained with blood from battling the supernatural Maledicts, shall encounter the hearts they never knew and begin nurturing their souls. The human heart is but a vessel for pain. To protect this pain akin to love… To gently break the world apart, piece by piece… Even if it means abandoning humanity. That’s why the heart is but a vessel for pain. For life blazes brilliantly, while the heart goes around in an endless cycle.
Characters
Benio Matsuri (voiced by Manaka Iwami) – A girl born into the Benio Family, a powerful family of Maledict Exorcists, who is tightly bound by her family’s curse. Due to an incident in the past, causing her to close off her heart, she doesn’t speak and barely shows any emotion. Her eyes remain closed at all times, as if she wishes to isolate herself from the cruel world she lives in. Since she only moves when someone pulls her along by the hand, her demeanor evokes the image of a beautifully crafted doll. She is a Curse Bearer with the ability to give Maledicts form and use their powers freely.
Nobody (voiced by Manaka Iwami) – Another personality that dwells inside Benio Matsuri’s heart that appears when Matsuri is asleep. Nobody sees herself as a shield that protects Matsuri from the cruel world. She can be incredibly selfish, and her words, actions, and strong attitude cause her to come across as a haughty, ill-mannered girl.
Tachibana Sai (voiced by Yumiri Hanamori) – The protagonist of the story: A ruthless boy who cannot feel pain in his heart. His younger sister, his only family, is the one person he treasures, and anyone who torments her is met with a brutal end by his hands… Yet, yearning to understand the human heart, he often interrogates his victims, even though they cannot respond. Just as he begins to seek respite from his bleak life, his unexpected encounter with Benio Matsuri causes him to experience a kind of pain akin to love in his heart.
Kanbara Tatsuki (voiced by Shuta Morishima) – An earnest and sincere boy who was born with a body that doesn’t feel any physical pain. Despite the unjust world around him, he wishes to keep on the straight and narrow, even if no one else does. He began training at a young age under a master who claimed to be invincible in order to become… well, a certain something. He has infiltrated the Benio Family and is biding his time for the chance to free Benio Matsuri, his first love, from their curse.
Tsukahara Ao (voiced by Hitomi Sasaki) – A seemingly cheerful and sociable resident of Maison sans Nom. She’s especially close with her friend Ando Mémé. Born as a Curse Bearer, she works as one of the Benio Family’s mercenaries and exorcists. On top of her mischievous tendencies, she wants more than anything to be a housewife. Her cooking might not be up to par now, but she’s working on it.
Ando Meme (voiced by Hika Tsukishiro) – A surly resident of Maison sans Nom and a Curse Bearer like Ao. Despite her ambitious and hard-working nature, she tends to scare people off due to her prickly attitude. However, she is keener than anyone when it comes to helping her friends, and Ao is especially reliant on her companionship. Her goal in life is to rake in the money as a top-grade exorcist.
Kirishima Tsuyu (voiced by Yukina Shuto) – The landlord of Maison sans Nom. Tsuyu is obsessed with his own cuteness and habitually declares himself the cutest person in the world. He enjoys teasing the other residents, and while they get annoyed with Tsuyu’s antics sometimes, they still adore him. He often earns himself a spanking from Yozora. He is also a content creator who makes full use of his looks while livestreaming as “Chuyu.” He has a preference for strong-willed people and takes a particular liking to Tatsuki in this regard. A Curse Bearer like Ao and Mémé, he possesses a mysterious power.
Kandori Yozora (voiced by Hana Kuga) – As the only grown-up resident of Maison sans Nom, Yozora acts as the guardian of the younger residents. She appears to be a beautiful, classy lady… until she opens her mouth. With her frank and outspoken attitude, as well as her tendency to drink cheap booze, gamble on horses, and “borrow” money from the kids without ever returning it, she’s not exactly what one would consider a responsible adult. Yozora does not possess any Maledict powers, but she prides herself on being the strongest martial artist in the world.
Benio Tsui (voiced by Takako Tanaka) – The current head of the Benio Family and Matsuri’s younger sister. Contrary to her appearance as a young girl, she considers herself the matriarch of the family, referring to all its members as her “children,” regardless of blood relations. Inside her heart dwells three different personalities, each with their own quirks and caprices. All are cold, cruel, and ruthless by nature, although she sometimes displays a child-like innocence befitting her age.
Penguin (voiced by Reika Fujisawa) – A mysterious, smartly dressed penguin with the ability to understand and speak human language. However, it is painfully shy, so normally it pretends to be just a regular penguin. It works as a receptionist and bellhop at a hotel where the souls of the dead end up, so the younger residents of Maison sans Nom refer to it as “God.” It has a huge attitude for a cute little penguin and is extremely hard to please. The best way to buy its favor is with sweets and snacks.
…and others!

I finally got around to making Noriko's Stand FULLY, her name is [Little Talks]. I finished it at 3 AM, but didn't upload it until tonight because I was very tired and didn't want to get out of bed.
Anyways, as mentioned on Noriko's profile: Her Stand didn't manifest until she turned 17, it would later earn the name "Little Talks".
Much like Hierophant Green, Little Talks is a Long-Range Stand that can extend to a modest extent. Although it's doesn't do projectile attacks, it makes up for it with by doing stealth attacks and using ice picker-like blades. Little Talk's Stand cry is "Kiruuuuuuu!..." similar to Flogging Molly, "kiru" meaning "scar" in Japanese.
Stand: Little Talks Type: Long-Range, Reconnaissance, Artificial Humanoid Abilities: Shadow stealth
Mastery:
Noriko is an inexperienced Stand user due to Little Talks being a late bloomer, but makes up for this flaw by using her intellect to plan out strategies. Much like Flogging Molly, Little Talks is seen as a female-looking humanoid with artificial limbs, with the only difference being that it's more cyborg looking with green colored lining, body armor, and visors, dark teal skin, and light teal pigtails.
And much like her mother's Stand, Little Talks can grow ice picker blades on its palms and toes that can overpower, maim, and scar enemies. Little Talks also does stealth attacks with its shadow stealth ability, which allows it to hide in the shadows of objects or people and surprise their enemies.
Trivia:
Her Stand, Little Talks, is named after the song under the same name by Icelandic indie folk and rock band: "Of Monsters and Men".
The Stand's appearance draws heavy inspiration from Hatsune Miku, a Vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media taking on the form of a 16-year-old virtual idol, this reflects Noriko's fascination with both Japanese Idols and other interests associated with Otakus and nerds.
They also draw inspiration from Asuka Langley Soryu's human and Evangelion synthesis; Crimson A1, from the "Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA" novel series. Another reference to Noriko's interests associated with Otakus and nerds.
There had been signs of Little Talks' awakening during Part 4, but still laid dormant until Part 6 due to Noriko not having the fighting spirit yet.
If Noriko and her Stand were in the anime, their English Localized name would've been either [Little Voice], or [Small Talks]. OC Stand belongs to me

I want to do a postal matchup and im really nervous uhhh,,,
I'm a pansexual girl, I have brown eyes and black hair and I'm 1.58cm.
I'm shy and introspective when you don't know me, once you get to know me I get extroverted, clingy and talkative.
I always hang out more with family and usually stay more at home, I don't have many friends either.
My main styles are vkei and goth.
I really like lace, media with psychological horror, shooting games (even though I can't aim properly (>▂<)), visual novels, 2000's animes, shoegaze, arcane, vocaloid and frutiger metro. ^~^
Don’t be nervous!!! I’m glad you’re here. And I can think of a certain Dude who’s just as happy too.
That dude would be…
Postal 3 Dude
Tumblr media
With Dude over here, he’ll be the guy to help you come out of your shell. He hides no shame about himself and his tomfuckery. By the time you’ve both grown comfortable in the relationship, you match the same energy and become inseperable
He is more likely to drag you onto his little adventures. You can try to stay home, but you might change your mind when you realize just how much trouble he has with the authorities. Plus, he makes living on the edge actually sound fun
Your vkei/goth style mesmerizes him. It compliments you with a strikingly elegant beauty he’s never seen before. Cue him purring on about how much of a beautiful babe you are to him every single day.
I think he would like anime stuff too! Shows like Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, Panty and Stocking, Code Geass, Black Lagoon, Ghost Stories (yes THAT English dub) and much more to list. He’s down to watch any of your favorite shows together
Play shooting games with him! He’s got a good aim and will probably show off about it. But you could always jump onto an online multiplayer together. Or take turns playing a boomer shooter.
The Dude peacocks a lot about how he’s tough and can handle horror like a champ. But I guarantee you he would likely be deep down pretty shaken up with just the right psychological horror.

So you want to get into Evillious Chronicles?
What started as two songs created with the newly popular Vocaloid synthesizing program turned into a decade long series with over 50 songs, 14 novels, and a world so rich in detail that J.R.R Tolkien is salivating in his grave.
What is the Evillious Chronicles?
Daughter of Evil was released on April 4th, 2008 utilizing the Vocaloid Kagamine Rin by Akuno-p, or as he’s more commonly referred to, mothy. While it didn’t receive much attention on its release, when it’s sequel, Servant of Evil, was released on April 16th, 2008, both songs became immensely popular. Even today, these two songs are widely loved in the Vocaloid community. However, what a good amount of people might not know is that these two songs are only a fraction of the large story mothy began to weave together.
Tumblr media
From here, a large story set in the universe of Evillious was created, with songs detailing the history and major events of this world. A short summary of the overarching plot would be this:
“On the continent of Bolganio, we follow a story set over a course of 1,000 years. Countries and ruling powers grow and weaken over this journey, all triggered by the existence of sorcerers and demons, which were long thought to be extinct. Seven Vessels of Deadly Sin are spread throughout the land by an evil sorceress into order to infect the world with Malice. Meanwhile, another sorceress works to collect these vessels and seal them away.”
The saga of Evillious is split into four main stories:
The Original Sin Story which revolves around the prophesied destruction of the Magic Kingdom Levianta and the crime committed by one woman in the forest.
The Seven Deadly Sins which follows the events caused by the "vessels of sin", seven demons possessing seven individuals in order to spread malice.
The Daughter of Evil which follows the kingdom of Lucifenia, ruled by Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche, a 14 year old girl possessed by the demon of Pride
The Clockwork Lullaby which is a collection of 12 songs, written by a mysterious author over the tale between two sorcereresses
The story for Evillious Chronicles is told mainly in two different types of medium: songs and novels.
The Songs
How many songs there are in the series depends on what you consider canonical or not, but most agree that there are at least over 50.
These songs are the stories themselves, with the plot and characters being given to us by the lyrics. Most songs are a snapshot of Evillious’s history at one point, describing the events taking place and no more than that.
The songs are sung usually by 8 main vocaloids, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len, Megurine Luka, Meiko, Kaito, Gumi, and Gackpo (though mothy will occasionally use other vocaloids.)
The songs were not released in chronological order, so instead the fandom was left to puzzle the pieces together into a working timeline. Even now, some songs can be debated on where they take place due to their vague nature, but the main story songs have all found their rightful spots in the timeline.
While some songs have PV’s, most are either very old, fanmade, or inaccurate to the story. However, thanks to Mario GaGabriel, all main story songs have wonderfully detailed PVs
I’ve put together a playlist of all the Evillious Chronicles songs in (my personal) chronological order
The Novels
There are 14 main novels in the Evillious Chronicles Saga: 4 in the Daughter of Evil series, 8 in the Seven Deadly Sins series, and two in the Original Sin Story series. And this order is generally considered the correct way to read these novels.
Sadly, these novels have never seen a western release, however the lovely @pricechecktranslations has done a full translation of every novel and even some of the side stories and interviews.
The Immersive Experience
Now I’ve been thinking about how to combine both the songs and novels into an experience that doesn’t spoil any of the twists and gives people a good way to experience both pieces of media.
Tumblr media
Novel: Daughter of Evil - Cloture of Evil and Twiright Prank short story.
Songs: Daughter of Evil, Servant of Evil, Twiright Prank, A Hero’s Armor is Always Crimson
Novel: Daughter of Evil - Wiengenlied of Green and Daughter of Fog short story
Songs: Daughter of White, The Maiden of the Tree, Regret Message, Swear an Oath on that Bridge
Novel: Daughter of Evil Praeludium of Red and Praefacio of Blue
Songs: Handbeat Clocktower, Neomaria of the Inverted Gravestone, Blink, Reach for the Stars The Letter She Kept Waiting For, The King Was Born From Mud, Chrono Story, The Song that Resounds With Lu Li La, Wordplay, Clockwork Lullaby Evils Theatre, Prophet Merry-Go-Round
Tumblr media
Novel: The Lunacy of Duke Venomania
Songs: The Lunacy of Duke Venomania, The Portrait Glassred Drew, Flower of the Plateau, Laboratory of the Full Moon
Tumblr media
Novel: Evil Food Eater Conchita
Songs: Evil Food Eater Conchita, Drug of Gold, The Frog’s and My Love Romance, Madam Merry Go Round, Queen of Glass, Tale of Abandonment on a Moonlit Night
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Novel: The Tailor of Enbizaka
Songs: The Tailor of Enbizaka, The Weathered Head of Onigashima
Tumblr media
Novel: Judgement of Corruption
Songs: Judgement of Corruption, Miniature Garden Girl, Successor of the Court, Heartbeat Clocktower
Tumblr media
Novel: The Muzzle of Nemesis and Seven Crimes and Punishment short story
Songs: And Then the Girl Went Mad, The Last Revolver, The Muzzle of Nemesis, Master of the Hellish Yard, Bloodstained Switch, Boy of the End Hansel, Master of the Graveyard, Capriccio Farce, Red Shoe Parade, Seven Crimes and Punishment
Tumblr media
Novel: Master of the Heavenly Yard
Songs: Master of the Heavenly Yard, Song of the Third Period, Clockwork Lullaby Key of Word, Waltz of the Departed, Re_Birthday, 10 Minute Love, The Karma of Evil Will Not End, Banica Concerto
Novels: Original Sin Story Crime and Original Sin Story Punishment
Short Stories Outlaw & Lychgate and E.A.T. Prologue
Songs: Creation Girl Gretel, grEAT Journey, The Song of the Cowardly Black Bird, The Blind Girl and the Angel
This is just the order I think is best to experience Evillious Chronicles, but you can go in whatever order that you want.
I made this in hopes that more people would enter the fandom and enjoy the series. And if you decide to get into the series, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Things can get confusing, but there will always be people willing to help.

Hi what's kagerou project about? I tried to get into it a while ago but it was a little overwhelming (got halfway through the anime, stopped and forgot almost everything) but I'm curious it seems interesting and fun
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU HAVE UNLEASHED.
okay so, the thing is with kagepro is that it's a multimedia project. it started as a vocaloid song series, but also has manga, light novels, audio dramas, the anime, and a short film that nobody cares about.
the entire project is a time loop, essentially, with each piece of media showing a different (or multiple) loops. the anime timeline is the very last timeline so you started at the end. common mistake, don't worry!!! the songs tell whats considered the standard loops, but it can be a bit tricky to piece everything together, especially for someone who hasn't been into it for as long as i have
I've been a huge fan of kagepro since I was around 11? 12? the characters are all very dear to my heart but my favourite is tsubomi kido! She was my transmasc awakening (shes canonically cis but.... trans man in my heart) and has a storyline of learning to trust other people and exist as a person instead of just wanting to vanish all the time.
for a good summary of all of the lore, I recommend this summary by the bread box on youtube. ( he also has a lot of good character analysis videos on there!) if you'd rather go by the media yourself and piece things together in your own time...
There are three albums! the order is absolutely not chronological, but in release order:
Mekakucitydays (spotify, youtube+ music videos if applicable*)
Mekakucity records (spotify, youtube+ music videos if applicable)
Mekakucity reload (spotify, youtube+ music videos if applicable)
some of the subtitles in the videos may be a little janky, my apologies. if anything seems wonky, i reccomend checking the fanwiki's translations.
there is also mekakucity M's 2, which is just the anime soundtrack plus human vocal covers of some preexisting kagepro songs
you can find english scans of the manga here
you can find english translations of the light novels here
you can find the anime here
also, here's the wiki link! fandomwiki sucks but the kagepro one is well-kept imo
it can be a little tricky to get into since most of the eng translations rely on fandom sourcing since its primarily a jp fanbase. and also its old as fuck. also, the project has pretty much reached its conclusion, so new media is extremely sparse. to my knowledge, the last time we got anything was a 2021 remix version of the song children record. there was supposed to be a new anime and a new manga and light novel, but no word on that since 2019 unfortunately.
i reccomend starting with the songs! I can't think of a single kagepro song i dislike honestly, they're all pretty solid early vocaloid rock songs.
if you have any questions at all, my dms and askbox are open!! i love talking about kagepro :D
(also, fun side note! most of the events of the story take place in a time loop of august 14th and 15th, so these days are considered fandom holidays. the kagepro fandom is practically non existent unless its august)
*note on the music videos: a few early kagepro PVs were made before JIN began working with good artists on the project so they kinda... suck ass a bit. i'll be using popular fan PVs in their place, especially JIN ended up working with the artists who made a few of them for future releases

Leosagi culture shocks I wanna see (based on my personal hcs)
Medicine/hygiene: as excited as Leo is to finally have Usagi visiting New York, you can't tell me that one of the first things Leo does isn't throwing his edo period boyfriend in the shower and chucking his clothes in the washing machine. Since they live in a sewer, Splinter made extra sure to drill good hygiene and cleanliness into his tots. As such Usagi's first two visits are spent learning about soap/shampoo (special kind for fur from Hidden City), toothbrushing, toilets, etc. I feel like he'd be amazed and shocked at how much cleanliness actually matters when it comes to health. He'd also be dragged to Donnie's lab frequently for vaccines. Even after bacteria and viruses are explained to him, Usagi would still be kind of scared and Leo is just holding his boyfriend's hand the whole time. Considering Leo is the resident medic, Usagi would be very interested in hearing Leo info dump on how surgeries and major wound stitches are done along with disinfection.
Modern tech: this one's obvious, he's from the Edo period and Leo is from the 21st century. Usagi is mesmerized by how advanced everything is and is shocked that none of it is magic. Donnie takes immense pleasure in educating Usagi in the ways of modern technology and how it all functions.
Culture: as a traveller, Usagi probably has quite the open mind for his time and generally appreciates the new cultures he comes across. I think he'd be so amazed at how big and how diverse the world is. Especially when it settles in how Japan (what was previously his whole world) is such a small part for an enormous planet. Considering that New York is an immigrant city, Usagi would probably adore how much of a cultural melting pot it is. Leo gets them some cloaking broaches and the two have several dates just exploring the cultural hubs of New York. Be it the traditional preserved cultures or the new ones created from the mesh.
Self expression: another thing I feel Usagi would appreciate is how freely people can express themselves. Be it gender or culturally, people just wear what they want. Especially people as nonchalant as the turtles. The four have been having fashion nights with April since forever and no way they didn't absolutely slay in dresses and skirts. No way they also didn't drag Usagi into their fashion shenanigans.
Art: it's canonically confirmed that Usagi is a lover of art in all its forms. He'd absolutely loose his mind at how many styles of everything there are. I can see him bonding with Mikey in this aspect, with the young turtle showing Usagi all the best drawing/painting techniques there are. Music is another big thing: he's that one dude who's spotify is just a mix of everything (different genres, languages, instruments, etc). Electro music is something he'd take longer to warm up too, but I think he'd end up enjoying vocaloid. Mostly because of how diverse in themes vocaloid is (depression, love, violence, redemption, etc) and because it's his first exposure to modern music that he can actually understand (since it's japanese).
Reading: I don't think Usagi would've been an avid reader before Leo. Mostly cause there wasn't much to read. Now that he can visit New York, he just gobbles up whatever literature he can find. He reads a mix of Japanese and English (helped him learn the language faster). Usagi really likes mythology, history, and poetry books. He also has a taste for the occasional novel and manga that Leo recommends him. As a samurai, Usagi's all about self improvement. So I feel like he'd read a lot therapy-esque books regarding things like healthy relationship and adjusting to new perspectives. He'd also work on any biases or assumptions he has from living in Edo Japan (like towards disabilities).
Media: like with any other tech, Usagi is shocked by how easy it is to learn anything curtesy of the internet. I also feel like he'd have a deep appreciation for the art of cinema considering its like theater but so much more. Especially with animation since its story told through moving art. Hell I bet he and Mikey have their own little animation stop motion drawing pads.
Relationships: here's where the biggest shocks are mostly cause how different things are from how Usagi was raised. First comes his relationship with Leo and how they each express love. Even nowadays PDA is frowned upon in Japan and Japanese don't tend to explicitly outright say they love each other. Usagi, who's probably very reserved with his affection and likely a little touch starved, is just floored with how openly affectionate both physically and verbally Leo is. I feel like he'd be a little embarrassed at first and slowly ease into being more open with how he loves Leo in more physical ways. Then there's the general Hamato dynamic. Even now, japanese culture has emphasis on respecting elders and the heavy expectations children have to succeed in the eyes of said parents. Combined with general edo period extreme formalities between parents and their children plus how Usagi's father barely raised him yet still put pressure on him to become a great samurai. Then we have Splinter: a rat man who's doing his absolute best to be involved in his kids lives and make up for the time they lost due to his trauma (mother's death, kidnapping, battle nexus, turning into a rat, etc), never pressures his kids, lets them grow as individuals and enjoy their own interests, very involved in their shenanigans, works hard to support his kids, and (most importantly) freely shows unconditional love. Just seeing a parent as involved and affectionate as Splinter is would be a big shock to Usagi. Especially a male parent cause traditional gender roles and since Usagi is from an era where fathers freely send their sons to die for honor while Splinter would blow up the Earth before even thinking of knowingly putting his sons at risk. Plus the brothers constant talk back and disobey their father. Then we go to the sibling dynamics. Like with parent-child relationships, edo period sibling dynamics were draped in formality and seriousness: affection is very reserved and any threats are literal plus the hierarchy placed by seniority. The Hamato siblings are probably Usagi's first exposure to a normal healthy sibling dynamic. Which would probably be confusing in itself since sibling relationships are a weird mesh of superficial hate but genuine love. Like Donnie wouldn't hesitate to take a bullet for Leo but no way in hell is he touching his new boots. Any of the brothers could be arguing as if they're about to kill each other and be cuddling on the couch not 15 minutes later. The constant back and forth would be a whiplash for Usagi and it would take some time to fully decipher how they communicate. Then there's their relationship with April. Splinter doesn't see her as his daughter but she is undeniably the Hamato's big sister. If you add in Cass and Sunita, then you have Usagi reveling in finally having strong independent female friends who aren't potential love interests. Throw in Casey Jr and the typical TMNT adventures and you've got Usagi collapsing exhausted from the sheer craziness of this friend group. Usagi would be civil and respectful with Draxum.
Okay i completely forgot about this, I saw it during vacations and then proceeded to forget about it. Sorry Okay, ejem, there are thing that I want to adress.
1. During that (and previous) period, japan already had toothbrushes, shampoo and soap, they already new about hygiene. We tend to imagine that this topics are modern and, let's be honest, came from Europe. No, for GODS' SAKE TOILET PAPER WAS INVENTED IN CHINA DURING THE 6th CENTURY!! And let's bw honest, Usagi lives in a world of furries, of course they already specialize soap/shampoo. I had nothing to add to the vaccines, i had a couple of scenes already planned regarding that topic. However, Usagi has been stabbed a couple times, and was perfectly fine with Chizu drugging him so he could get a rest, I can't really picture this man being a childman who needs to hold someone's hand to get vaccinated. (tho it'll be ironic, ngl)
Culture: Usagi himself has stated some levelnof discomfort regarding immigrants in Japan, because is japan, I wont go deep here, cuz theres a bunch of articles and videos about japan being an isolated country. It is certainly easier to imagine an initial rejection and a LONG adaptation process that will culminate with him accepting that the world is much more diverse than he imagined, but he would not stop being himself.
Art: usagi and Mikey bonding through art It's another plot that I had envisioned for rabbit stew, Usagi's fascinated by markets, color pencils, and all that, but usagi will also showed him the traditional techniques from his father homeland, cuz you know, sumi-e and ukiyo-e, since they're not inferior to modern of different techniques. (Btw have you ever heard of that band that plays with modern and traditional instruments?)
youtube
As for the rest of it, I mostly agree with the other points you've made. Except for one small detail that is bothering me and that is that it only seems to focus on how New York is going to change Usagi... I'll be real with you all, if we are just going to make Usagi a white dude and erase what being a 16th century samurai is... Well, I don't see the appeal anymore.
There are also things to rescue from there that the modern society lacks, despite of how murky the society in which he was raised may be. But here it seems like we're focusing on how cool New York is over Japan.
And let me tell you, food, environment, manners, global warming? These are some of the many things that Usagi will have a strong opinion on... That's if it survives the rot that is being fed microplastics to actually learn about it.

First of all - my VPN stopped working, again, I literally had to pull out my last resort, TOR BROWSER, to watch it, wtf did it do
Second - Actually not second but if I had a penny for every time someone sent me a Japanese song or a song from uhhh god dammit vocaloid and project sekai, I would be rich. Relatively.
Yet again, I knew a person who would listen to this, who would LOVE it, but you're going to open my dark route if you continue like this. I can take this many Japanese songs (one technically I guess, the other bunch was an OST and I don't count them) before whatever dating novel thing starts making a plot twist /HJ/silly
Third - EHEHHRKSFKDS ok I can't lie, I love the theme of this. thanks.

so a fun fact about me i dont think many ppl know is that i used to do fan translation work, specifically of vocaloid stuff
(mostly songs on a french blog, and then later i started translating the shuuen no shiori novels into french on tumblr but uh. look im sorry idk what to say, this project aint getting revived orz)
anyway back in the days i based my translations on existing english translations, but now that im getting somewhat better at japanese ive been finding myself mentally correcting/adjusting translations i read more and more
im also reading a lot more comics on pixiv these days and sharing them with friends, and it just. it reminded me of my translating debut haha
bc back in the days i started translating so i could share songs with one of my friends, and only later started a dedicated blog, and now im sort of doing the same (half-assedly tho)
idk where im going with this. i guess ive been contemplating translating short pixiv comics properly ? albeit informally. basically doing typesetting and cleaning too, but idk if id want to share it publicly, so i guess it would be like. only between friends or sth
i dont really have a plan, or even a point with this post, i just. idk. felt like sharing some thoughts ive been having
i just miss translation i guess sdfsgdgfhg
