this was actually one of the first patterns I learned; making it now when I'm 1000% more confident is really nice:)

Yarn: YarnArt Flowers in 313 Summer

I know, it's getting boring already, but I finished another virus shawl. But the pattern is just really addictive, and it looks so good with variegated yarn, so I just went on and on...and it won't be the last time I used the pattern. I'll probably have loads of these things in the end, so I kinda wish I could sell them. I don't think I really do it, but still.
Genuine question tho because I've no idea about the pricing of that kind of stuff: does anyone know whether I could ask people to pay me 5€ for one of these? Or would that be too much? I mean, the yarn cost more than that, so I wouldn't be exactly ripping anyone off, but idk... I mean, you could probably get some kind of scarf etc for less from a thrift store of something, so I'm not sure 🤔
#crocheting#crochet#textile crafts#yarn crafts#fiber crafts#crochetblr#virus shawl#the colours look a lot better on mobile & in reality tbh#idk why i finished so quickly but i did a few hours every day while watching tv shows and...yeah it just happened

FO: Virus Post Shawl
...in the shades of fall.
Look at me dusting off those poetry skills :D But I know my writing is not really why we are here.
This week I sent off a finished object for an exchange. The recipient has received it now, so I can officially share without spoiling the surprise!
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft 100% Acrylic - scraps, but I'm pretty certain we've got "Gold", "Pumpkin", and "Autumn Red" here.
Hook size: 5.5 mm
Pattern: Post Virus Shawl - Bag-O-Day Crochet
I love the colors selected - they are so bright and happy and they definitely remind me of the colors changing on the leaves of deciduous trees. Once the colors start to turn, I love driving aimlessly through the countryside to enjoy the shift. It's truly beautiful.

Hey, look at these colors. AND it sparkles!!
Starting the week with a new WIP, of course. My crochet hook fits perfectly, too. I love these gorgeous flashy colors.
What do you need more?! 😄

After two months I’ve finished my virus shawl project. Should it have taken me so long? Probably not but I get bored easily 😂

Today my beloved YoungerSpouse is getting an eye exam, and I am along to drive him in case of dilation.
Therefore today is my traveling project, the virus shawl. (It has been left behind and then recovered from two conventions.)

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” - Albert Camus 🍁
I finally finished my virus shawl just in time for the cold! This pattern features a quickly multiplying 'shell' shape that mirrors itself right down the middle. If ended on the proper row, you'll have a pretty scalloped edge.
I used Mary Maxim yarn in the colorway 'Milan.' It's 80% acrylic and 20% wool, perfect for breathability amidst the warmth.

Finished my first attempt at a virus shawl today...after about a week because I somehow worked a lot on it on the last few days, lol. The end result looks better than expected, and since the pattern is pretty easy to do I'll probably do it again with variegated yarn to get a nicer colour pattern next time.
#crocheting#crochet#textile crafts#yarn crafts#virus shawl#crochetblr#originally i wanted to make it a little bigger but i already used three skeins...and it's big enough after all#(please notice my awesome bookshelf...and shirt choice lmao)

Spontaneous Virus Shawl
While I was on my trip to the West Coast, I had wanted to also bring a crochet project as a craft option, so fairly spontaneously I grabbed this luscious bamboo yarn from my stash and promptly started a virus shawl.
I am not quite sure where it gets the name, but "Virus" is just the name of the pattern. It's a four row repeat, building up into a symmetrical triangle design of fans on top of fans. There's the standard version, plenty of variations out there, and some lovely work with color changing yarn or color-controlled designs.
I started it without a plan for what to do with it, but I do have a class of 2023 High School graduate in my family. So my question to you is: are teens into shawls nowadays?
In my mind, everyone needs at least one homemade, oversized shawl to get all comfy and cozy under, but I could be perhaps dating myself.
And so far, it's working up beautiful. The 100% rayon from bamboo is tough to work with in that it splits due to being a plant-based fiber. The fibers don't cling together, so it's just a thing to deal with when working with the material. But the trade off is really something! Bamboo has a unique shine and luster to it, and the fabric it makes is VERY soft and smooth. This is actually a silvery-blue, and the yarn brand is Truboo by Lion Brand.
It needs a home somewhere when I am done with it. So ...eh? Maybe? Thoughts?
[Did you know! I have a crochet bingo you can find here]

Sometimes, you think "oh haha I'm immune to the dreaded lace rot for sure" and then you're suddenly out buying #10 crochet thread and several lace patterns :)
Also the very tiny virus shawl is approaching completion. One more full rep, and then I'll see if I can manage a picot edge.
I wish I could appropriately show how small this thing is, but basically the lightbox view on a standard 1080p screen is actually slightly bigger than real life.
#guardy's fiber arts tag#There's a couple mistakes in it but that's due to me never having done a virus shawl before#I'm not sure I'd enjoy laceweight yarn#But crocheting thread? fuck yea
