Media Preservation Monday

Yeah, yeah, as of this original post it's actually only Wednesday but hey, take this as a sign to take some initiative, and keep to it each Monday at minimum if you're actively writing!

What's Media Preservation Monday, you may ask?

MPM is your reminder to back up your writing at least three ways at least once a week or whenever you make major changes to your document(s).

Here's some incredibly easy ways to back up your writing:

One your Master Document(s), put a date on the file name, and every day you make changes, "Save As" the Document and change the date. Do this every time or day you make major changes.

Example: You start writing your Novella November Story on November 1st.

You name your master document "Novnov Project 11-01-2024"

The next day, you write some more, and at the end of your writing session, you go to save your document, and instead of simply hitting "Save" you choose "Save As" and save the new copy of the Document as "Novnov Project 11-02-2024".

You now have two copies of your project, and if you keep this up throughout the whole month, you will have a live snapshot of your writing progress.

Each day or after each major writing session, open up the folder containing your document, and back it up. The Easiest and simplest way to do this is to simply email it to yourself, but you can also create multiple backups by:

Save a copy of your dated Master Document(s) to different locations on your Hard-drive, to an external hard-drive, to a thumbdrive, etc.

If you're writing offline on a writing program like Libreoffice, upload a copy of your Master Document(s) to your preffered Cloud-based Writing Program of your choice.

Vice Versa: if you write on a Cloud-based writing program, download it to various offline-based locations.

Download the base document as well as download it as various ebook formats and send them to your ebook library on your phone or kindle or nook or reading app.

Make a personal discord server and upload the document/epub form of your Master Document(s) there [this is also a good way of making a kind of personal journal / diary etc]

Whatever you do, do not be complacent and assume nothing can happen to your writing. Back it up. Preserve it.

Don't have all of your hard work go down the drain because of one tiny unforeseen accident.

When it comes time to clean up your hardrive, always assume you don't have it backed up. Before deleting anything always take the time to copy it over to another physical drive or a cloud drive.

More of Sun and Moon dynamic in the Au I worked on a few years back. Got some motivations to work on an old sketch and finish it (I feel i could have done better, yet my phone can handle only so much of layers and heavy files)

Sun often draws or writes stuff so that Moon later on can read or see. It's a way for them to communicate since Moon is not responsive anymore due to the virus. However, sometimes, they manage to have a few sane conversations, even if they don't last much before the virus take over again.

For Sun, those chats are both hopeful (he believes there is a way to cure Moon) but also distressing, knowing these conversations are limited in time or who knows if it will be the last time he will ever be able to talk with Moon.

(Sun is affected too by the virus, yet he believes he took the hit better than Moon, which might be untrue)

Some drawings that Sun makes end up being shred when Moon is out of control. Sometimes, Moon mocks his counterpart harshly. This behavior and those comments hurt the solar animatronic, but Sun knows he has to ignore all of that because the real Moon, when present, clinges so much on whatever thing Sun gifts him.

In the rare moment of clarity, free from the virus, Moon hides away in solitude, scared to hurt someone, and clinges on Sun's gifts, trying to remember the last time he got a normal chat with Sun or the last time he hadn't been used as a night security animatronic.

When his "mind" his clear, Moon also hides in very tight places. He doesn't like feeling like a beast in a cage, yet, at the same time, such places give him a sense of comfort and safety. It gives him the illusion that he won't be able to hurt anyone there.

He misses interacting with humans. He misses taking care of the kids and comforting them when they have nightmares, reading bedtime stories for them. He misses sharing conversations with Sun. He wants to go back to being a performer and not a "night guard."

The fairy lights are the only type of light he can handle without getting his eyes hurt. Their warm color also reminds him of Sun.

The beast had been sitting on the cabins porch, he was being monitored by Shedletsky still.

"7n7!"

Its voice rasps, the parasite basically leapt from its seat towards the other, he was pulled back by Shedletsky. A frustrated groan escaped the monster.

"Don't."

Shedletsky narrows his eyes. 1x growls.

"I wasn't going to harm him. I'd never."

It removes Shedletsky's hand from its shoulder and walks over to the hacker cautiously, to let the former admin know it wouldn't hurt the man.

It wrapped its arms around him, resting its head on their shoulder.

How to Farm and 100% Master Chef

Optimal Excursion Time

On average, you get more ingredients with 20 minute excursions. However this isn't realistic for most people. 150 minutes lines up perfectly with the LP regeneration. So if you are using LP the moment it tops off, send out the characters and then use your LP. However, it's more important to pick the time that works best with your schedule.

RNG is a big factor since most locations will have 3+ ingredients and you need to gather from multiple locations for one dish. It's better to do longer excursions on the areas with multiple items and do the shorter excursions on the featured ingredient. When I have to cook a lot of dishes or start charcoaling, this is when I would do the 20 minute excursions cause I'll likely still be cooking by the time the group returns.

Starting to Cook

It is best to start cooking as soon as possible using mainly Bronze and some Silver ingredients if you have an excess. There could be many recipes that need a lot of ingredients from an area you unlock later. If you wanted one of the chef cards, I recommend that you try to purchase the SR key as soon as possible. By sending out the featured chef cards, you can get additional ingredients but this is a small bonus. Only the two featured chef cards have this bonus. You can still complete the event without owning one of the featured chef cards as long as you don't miss too many excursions. The chef cards from the previous master chef events do not have a bonus.

Earning Tokens

Each ingredient quality can be assigned a value. At 100% skill, you can make a 3* dish as long as the sum of the ingredient quality is equal to or greater than the minimum quality score for that recipe.

Ingredient Quality Points

Gold - 3

Silver - 2

Bronze - 1

Minimum Quality Score at 100% to guarantee a 3* dish

2 Ingredient Recipe - 4 points

3 ingredient Recipe - 5 points

4 ingredient Recipe - 7 points

5 ingredient Recipe - 9 points

For example, you can make a 3* dish with 5 ingredients using 3 bronze and 2 gold (9 points).

Earning Money

Master Chef is the one of the best events to earn money and it only costs you time. You earn more per ingredient in a dish but the most optimal is the 2 ingredient dish. You will end up with a lot of extra ingredients if you are only gathering from two areas. But you can manually select the any two of the extra ingredients to create a failed dish/charcoal. Failed dishes will earn the same amount of thaumarks as successful ones.

For the completionists, this is the most effective way to 100% and 3 star any dish. This is important if you care that everything is complete for your album.

Reruns

All MCs should be reruns from now on for both servers.

You can 3* recipes quicker during reruns following the table below. The reruns create a new entry in your album so you will have to 3* the recipes again.
