So someone asked me a question about my characterisation of Viney (I swear I exist just to answer this question). Unfortunately, the answer was WAY too freaking long, so to avoid completely clogging up the comments section I'm putting it here instead
(Someone in the comments of Grasping for Safety Chapter 15 asked where the inspiration for Viney being so angry came from when that doesn't seem to be particularly canon. Also, why is she so attached to Hunter when in canon she seemed more distrustful/meh on him? And why does she seem like she disliked Amity even before the fic started?)
Yessss let me ramble about Viney >:3 I have so many thoughts about her it's not even funny-
TL;DR: she isn't normally Like This, there are some particular aspects of this situation that are bringing a lot of anger out for her. I relent that I wasn't able to really establish how my version of Viney NORMALLY acts before Chapter 2 happened, but oh well
(Some parts of the answer are spoilers for the rest of the fic so this is nonexhaustive)
As for Viney headcanons--(obligatory disclaimer that all of this is just kind of taking some stuff from canon and fully running with it in my own direction)--I think she doesn't trust people generally (based on how hostile she was to Luz at first in The First Day) but once she decides she likes someone she goes All In and would trust them with her life (based on how quickly she decided to adopt Luz into their friend group and tell her all their secrets). We know she dislikes the rules about tracks and magic use, and when she gets in trouble for disobeying them she just turns around and does it in secret, so I think she has a lot of anger and distrust about the education and Coven systems, and just authority figures generally. But also, whenever she's faced directly with an authority's displeasure (including the Labyrinth Runners scene where Hunter looks to her and Skara for back up!) we see her back down in favour of staying quiet and just taking whatever is thrown at her/her friends. That combined with how surprisingly quickly she warmed up to Luz after Luz defended her from the detention teacher's scolding in First Day makes me think she's got a lot of issues with authority but doesn't really feel like she can do anything about it. But she wants to, and she hates her and her friends being treated unfairly, so anyone who steps in on their behalf is immediately her bestie. Also, given how she refuses to stop mixing magic in the detention track and worships Lord Calamity (the Ultimate Troublemaker™), BUT won't talk back to any teachers or Bump, I think she wishes she could stand up to those systems/the people enforcing them but feels like she can't. So, anyone who does tell them off immediately earns her respect (and on the flip side, anyone who kisses up to them is her enemy).
Relatedly, I headcanon she decided to join Willow's Flyer Derby team because Willow mentioned the abomination teacher had it out for her and Viney was immediately like "yes, I will help you stick it to an unfair teacher!" especially since getting her club approved is more of an indirect way to go against them than telling them off to their face. Like, I think she was interested in the team already but that sealed the deal. And then, Viney sees the Flyer Derby team as all on the same side, working against this power-tripping teacher, so all her teammates got adopted as her friends in her mind.
Basically, she's kind of got this very black-and-white, us-versus-them way of thinking, which is great if you're on "her side" because she will do anything for you (except stand up to an authority figure haha) but if she decides you're on the "other side" then she just kind of hates you, even if you didn't actually do anything wrong. (And I think her first impression of Amity was more in-passing back when Amity was the Queen Bee of the school, top student, teacher's pet, etc.; so yeah, Viney definitely disliked her before this fic started, and isn't aware/doesn't care that Amity's had any character development since then. And when Amity didn't actively stand up for Hunter in the healing homeroom, Viney just decided she was unequivocally on Bump's side and had it out for Hunter, because she sees the worst in people she dislikes.)
Also related to the us-versus-them thing, I think it's really interesting how she turns on Luz and Jerbo so fast; she seems pretty loyal to her friends but then immediately goes off on them based on so little. In First Day she literally spills all the trio's secrets to Luz, then hears an out-of-context remark from Gus and immediately goes "you think you're too good for us??? GET OUT" Viney doesn't even give her a chance to explain, just kicks her out. And in Any Sport, Jerbo is literally just on the teacher's team, with seemingly no context to the match and just trying to have fun, and she is immediately pissed with him, actively targetting him in the game and being passive aggressive afterward. And he didn't seem surprised, he's preemptively just like "Oh no..." so I think her getting mad over stuff like that is just a normal thing for her. (And it never really came up but she's still a little bit upset over that in this fic, and LOT bit mad with both him and Barcus for not immediately jumping on the helping Hunter train, even though she didn't even invite them to.) Point is, she seems to have got this very strong "you're either with me or you're against me" mentality that she refuses to be swayed on, and she has difficulty hearing or seeing things from other people's perspectives because she just feels like everything is a personal attack, especially in the heat of the moment.
That said, this level of anger issues (and how she's standing up to authority figures) aren't really my Viney's normal. She's usually just standoffish with strangers and chill with her friends, with a healthy dash of anti-authority sentiments baked in, but this situation is... unique and has pressed a lot of buttons for her. Said situation pushed her to go directly against Bump's orders in Chapter 2 in favour of going after Hunter, giving her a taste of disrespecting authority figures (and getting away with it), and now she's hooked. The fact that she went from standing up to Bump for the first time ever and then a few chapters later went right for attacking a Coven Head is so iconic, she's really speedrunning her way from Quiet Delinquent to Full On Criminal and I love that for her. Eda would be so proud <3
And THEN there's her opinion on Hunter~ I think they're SUPER interesting and I have so many thoughts and I'm SOOOO normal about them (lying), and THERE WILL BE MORE VINEY AND HUNTER CONTENT IN THE FUTURE :D But some of it has been hinted at, especially in Chapter 5 and I wanna ramble some more so I will >:3
So like, Hunter was on the Flyer Derby team standing up to a teacher, so he was on "Viney's side" which made her immediately like him. They played one game together and now they're besties, working against the system, sorry I don't make the rules. And then he literally kidnaps her, gives her over to the Emperor's Coven, which is basically the teacher's pet of Covens, completely against her will. And if you haven't noticed, a lot of her issues have to do with not having control of her own life and her own choices. Like, that's a pretty traumatising thing to happen in general but it really pushed that specific pressure point for her.
So yeah, as she so eloquently put it in Chapter 5, "she might have wanted to bash his face in just a little bit at the time." But THEN he literally threw himself in between her and a Coven Head to protect her. So, once she calmed down a bit from that whole Event and could see things more rationally, she looked back and recontextualised all their interactions with this new information (including the fact that the highest ranking EC member is literally school-aged), and ended up coming to the conclusion that he seemed more naïve than malicious, and is probably just indoctrinated. So she kind of feels like they're kindred spirits in the whole victim-of-the-system department, he just doesn't know it yet. He's not her friend or anything, but she does feel for him and would like to help him embrace his inner rebel, but has absolutely no idea how to do that so they just end up not really talking.
Then the Emperor's Coven attacks Hexside, and all those issues with the Coven system and not having control over her life and magic and the trauma of being kidnapped that one time are dragged back up, yayyyy~! And THEN she sees Hunter and Gus are being dragged around, Hunter unconscious, by some Coven scouts and Graye himself- and she just snaps and drags Skara into recklessly trying to save both of them. Because she is NOT about to let the EC abuse their aurthority and treat people she happens to care about like that. Then Willow and Bump show up, the scouts get away with Gus, and Willow convinces Bump to let them bring Hunter back to the homeroom.
This is where we veer away from canon but a lot of it still applies to my canon thoughts about her. So, again, Viney really wants to help him (she heals him and tries to be comforting through the whole scene) but still doesn't feel capable of standing up to Bump and the illusion teacher, and honestly feels like she's a bad friend for it. Especially since not only does she kind of feel like she owes him for standing up to a literal Coven Head, but also he was literally just getting kidnapped by the EC and she knows how THAT feels. She does believe everything he says though; she had assumed he left the Coven and then they kidnapped him to get him back, and him working with Gus makes sense to her since they were both being dragged around. She still has some mixed feelings about him but she doesn't think he's lying; she tends to give her friends the benefit of every doubt and assume the worst of everyone else, so.
Of course, Bump and the illusion teacher are immediately hostile to him, and she can tell it's really freaking him out. While most everyone else interprets that as him being nervous because he's lying, she gives him the benefit of the doubt and assumes it's because he's just traumatised and is now being bullied by random teachers threatening to send him back (what a revolutionary thought /s). And it's infuriating to watch someone get interrogated before they can even fully stand about how they must be evil and lying and dangerous, and she thinks they're just being unfair because they decided they're not going to trust him. Which is what authority figures do to her, because she's been labelled a "troublemaker."
SO, she goes full-on projection, throws those mixed feelings right out the window, and gets REALLY invested in helping him, because she doesn't want him to feel like he's completely alone with everyone out to get him. That mixed with her black-and-white, us-versus-them thinking makes her very defensive of him because anyone saying anything slightly critical of him must mean they also want to bully him just like the teachers! There is no other explanation! (He's her bestie now and that means she'd die for him, sorry not sorry.)
That's also part of why comfort is always her first go-to; she reassures him, she tries to talk him down, she heals him before getting him out of the airship, etc. because her first priority is that he feels like he has someone there for him and he's not alone. She's pretty loyal to her friends anyway but seeing so many authority figures push him around when he's clearly already in a vulnerable place gets her blood boiling and she is beyond ready to make that everyone else's problem. (In canon she wasn't pushed to the point of standing up to Bump nor did she end up projecting onto Hunter quite so much, but I think after canon Labyrinth Runners she spent a lot of time checking in on him, loudly defending him to any wary students, and just being very friendly. I don't think he knew how to take that haha)
IN CONCLUSION I think about Viney too much tysm for asking <33
#for legal reasons i did edit & expand on some stuff since i had more space lol#AND I HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO SAY THAT EITHER ISNT RELEVANT OR IS SPOILERS#GODS I LOVE HER#someone ask about skara next i've spent so much time developing them#emerald entrails for the fucking win i would die for them#kay rambles#like. a LOT#kay's grasping for safety#viney toh

Little Shop of Wonders

The bell over the door jingled as you pushed it open, stepping foot inside the shop.
You’d never noticed this place before. An old shop with big glass window displays filled with plants and crystals, its heavy wooden door recessed from the street, an old brass lantern hung above the door offering only a small puddle of flickering light over the doormat.
“Welcome,” the doormat had scrawled across it, “to the Little Shop of Wonders.”
You weren’t sure what to expect, but it was a cool, damp October night, and the shop looked like a dry place to wait for your boyfriend.
Kun had an appreciation for magic. Usually, he favored card tricks, sleight of hand, but he’d shown you before that he was intrigued by more magical magic. He would like this place, too, so you texted him the address since he was already on the way to pick you up from work.
From deep in the recesses of the store, you hear a woman’s voice call out, “Welcome! Have a look around, and I’ll be there to help you shortly!”
The store is very old, if you had to guess. The floors are hardwood, bleached by ages of sunlight, dry and dusty with each step you take. The boards creak, and even when you pass over a thick rug, the floor groans beneath you, belching up dust. Dried flowers and herbs hang from the rafters. Strings of lights drape the edges of the room, occasionally cross-crossing the space in between. You spot more of those brass lanterns hanging at the ends of heavy wooden bookcases, the shelves of which are weighed down with heavy tomes and knick knacks that range from crystals and cute animal carvings to disturbingly realistic wooden figurines of people and a skull with a candle melted atop it.
This place gives you the creeps while simultaneously pulling you in deeper. It feels like magic. It tingles over your skin, smelling sweet.
You don’t know how long you’ve been walking around before you hear the door jingle in the distance.
You bump into a viney potted plant on the floor, and a cat bolts out of the shadows, streaking through a gap in the shelves. You follow the cat, discovering that it’s leading you back into the center of the store from where you’d drifted to the back edges. You can see the front door, the misty blue twilight sky outside the front windows.
Kun stands in the doorway, framed by that eerie light, though the light of the lantern glows on his face, radiant.
“There you are,” he says with a grin, stepping inside the store fully. “What kind of place have you found?”
“Welcome to the Little Shop of Wonders,” says the same woman’s voice as before, although now it sounds as though she’s floating above you.
You twist around, looking up at the ceiling, and you find her. She’s a wiry older woman, her curling gray hair tumbling around her shoulders, a long skirt and apron swishing around her legs as she very carefully balances and navigates her way across the beams.
When you look back at Kun, he’s watching her with a bemused expression, which shifts to that of one impressed when the woman leaps down from the beam and lands lightly on her feet.
She brushes her hands off on her apron, and looks at the pair of you with a wide, warm, inviting smile on her face.
“It’s so nice to meet you.” Her hands go to her hips, and she looks the pair of you over, her gaze studying the way you gravitate towards each other. “What can I help you with?”
“Oh.” You and Kun glance at each other, and then you say, “We’re just looking around.”
The woman nods her head. “Of course! If you look long enough, whatever you’re meant to have in here will jump out at you.”
You take Kun’s hand, and for a little while you browse the shelves, occasionally coming across a cat or the witchy woman herself, humming as she passes through different areas of the shop.
Finally, after you feel that you’ve spent nearly an hour together looking at the small oddities and interests in the store, you realize that it’s time you leave so you can get home. But Kun’s interested in the live plants the woman has sitting beside a window towards the back of the shop. He brushes his fingers along a blush pink leaf, lifts his fingers along the stem, and cups one of the curved bloodred petals.
“I’d be careful with that one, if I were you.” The woman appears suddenly at your elbow, nudging her way between you and Kun. She cups the plant’s pot in her hands, lifting it gently. “This one’s a powerful aphrodisiac. Quite a strong stimulant.”
Kun peeks at you over her head. You stifle a giggle against your hand.
“Doubt me if you like,” she warns, “But this plant’s pollen is known to cause intense arousal when ingested. Whether that means if the residue is on your skin, or if it’s contained within a bottle of honey.”
Suddenly she’s lifting a hand, a small vial of glinting golden honey sits in her palm.
“Are you saying that’s a bottle of sex honey?” You ask, trying to keep from laughing.
The woman’s mouth tightens. “Yes, dear. Essentially. A taste of this honey, and you and your boy would be bound to fall into bed together. THat’s why I have it labeled for sale over in the love and sex section of the shop. Now, if you ingest the pollen directly, say if he were to lick his fingers now after having touched the plant, the effects would be much stronger. Arousal lasting days, possibly.”
Again, Kun catches your eye over the woman’s head, and you watch your boyfriend daringly lift his hand to his lips, and he pops his index and middle finger both into his mouth.
“Oh, darling….” The witchy woman shakes her head while looking at Kun. She quickly sits the plant back down among the others, and she waves her hand towards the front door of the shop. “You should leave now. Good luck. And you, my dear,” she says with a look in your direction, “You may want to purchase a bottle of the honey, just so you can keep up with him.”
“I think we’ll be fine, but thank you.” You wrap your arm around Kun’s and walk towards the door with him, calling over your shoulder to her, “Maybe if this goes as well as you’re promising, we’ll be back for some of that sex honey.”
You swear that instead of swinging gently shut as it had when you opened it, the door slams behind you as you and Kun step out onto the sidewalk outside the Little Shop of Wonders.
“Come on.” Kun slides his hand down into yours, leading you away to where his car is parked. “Let’s get home.”
On the ride home, you both laugh about the woman’s warnings. It just sounds so silly, the things she was saying. Kun keeps sucking on his fingers, saying that he’s still waiting for it to kick in like she promised, that from the sound of it, he’ll need to fuck you as soon as you get home, but it must be slow acting. “I’m not even a little bit hard, yet. Maybe her plant isn’t working right. Not that I need the help, but she’s made it sound like one taste of the pollen and I’m going to be rock hard for days.”
You laugh, tipping your head against the seat to watch as Kun flicks his tongue between the V of his index and middle finger. “Kun, I promise, if you’re rock hard for days, if this pollen truly works as well as she’s said, you can fuck me however, wherever, as often as you want.”
“I have free use of you?” Kun’s teasing, looking over at you as he rolls the car to a stop at a light. “You’d be my little fuck toy?”
“Anything for you, Kun.” You’re playing, but some part of you is actually serious. You love Kun. Since you started dating him, you’ve wanted him a ridiculous amount. It’s only because you can’t constantly be on his dick that you haven’t let on to him how horny you frequently are. You’ve tried to tone it down, but honestly, giving him free use to fuck you however and wherever and whenever he likes is exactly what you’ve needed all this time.
If only the ridiculous notion of sex pollen was real and not just the imaginary creation of some batty woman in a mysterious shop.
When you get home, you hop in the shower while Kun starts to prepare dinner.
You’ve been in there for only about five minutes, when the door to the bathroom opens. You pull the shower curtain back a bit, peeking out into the steamy bathroom. Kun’s right there, already climbing into the shower, yanking the curtain back shut behind him as he backs you towards the wall.
“What’s this?” You giggle, reaching for his arm. “Did the pollen kick in or something?”
“Yeah,” Kun murmurs, and then his lips are on yours, his hands on your hips.
You can’t believe he’s really going along with this, playing into it just to have shower sex. You let him spin you around so your chest and cheek are against the wall. Kun pulls one of your arms behind your back, the other you lift above your head to brace yourself a bit.
“Any time, anywhere, that’s what you said right?” Kun confirms as he grinds forward against your ass.
“Mhmm,” you moan, rolling your hips back to meet his movements. “Yes, Kun.”
His mouth moves fiery hot over your bare shoulder, his skin hot against yours everywhere he touches. “Perfect.”
And then he’s thrusting forward, driving his cock between your legs, rutting forward again and again until his cock slides inside you.
With no prep, it burns a little, but you like it. You like when Kun gets a little rough from time to time. Like right now, when he just starts plunging into you with these big thrusts, clearly just chasing his own orgasm. His hand holds yours against your lower back. The shower spraying down on you both has your skin all slippery, your bound hands sliding with each of Kun’s powerful thrusts.
Your moans echo around the bathroom, and Kun’s breaths come hard and fast against your ear.
Kun presses up against your back, pinning you between him and the wall, his weight bearing down on you as he fucks into you. Each press of his cock inside you, each catch of his breath against your ear, the heat in your belly stirs a little more. But it doesn’t stir as quickly as Kun, he cums with his mouth against your throat, his body flush against yours.
One of his hands slides around down your belly, down between your legs, fingers against your clit as he thrusts several more times. Kun fucks his cum deeper inside you, gliding against your G spot while stimulating your clit, and you fall apart in his arms, feeling like you’re dissolving into sweet bliss as he keeps rocking his hips forward and tracing his fingers over your sensitive clit.
He keeps going until you’re whining, until he’s spilling inside you again.
Your legs shake as you actually put them into use again. Kun steps back, leaving you empty and on your own two feet. He rinses off quickly, running a hand down his body, over his cock. You twist around to watch him, biting your lip as you watch his hand run along his cock.
“Keep looking at me like that, babe, and I’m going to have to feed you something other than the dinner I started.” He leans in quickly, dropping a kiss to your lips, and then he steps out of the shower, calling back to you, “Shower quickly, dinner should be ready in a few minutes.”
You finish your shower, dry off, dress in a camisole and cotton shorts, then you head to the kitchen.
Kun’s standing at the counter, chopping a few toppings for the stew he’s made. You walk up behind him, wrap your arms around him and lay your head against his bare shoulder. He’s only wearing sweatpants that hang low on his hips. You run your hand over his bare belly, up his chest, and back down to the edge of his sweatpants.
Kun sits the knife aside.
You turn your head, brushing your lips over his warm skin. Kun lets out a shaky breath. You let your pinky finger tuck beneath the edge of his sweatpants.
“It smells good,” you tell him. “I’m ready to eat.”
Kun’s hand trembles as he picks up the knife again, and you rest your cheek against his shoulder, watching as he tries to chop up the last few ingredients. And then you notice.
He’s really so warm, his skin flaming hot beneath your cheek.
“Kun?” You take a step to the side, peering at his face, lifting a hand to his cheek. “Are you sick? You feel feverish.”
His eyes are dark when he looks at you. His pupils are blown wide, and he nearly moans at the cool press of your fingers against his warm cheek. “I’m not sick. I feel fine, except I don’t think that lady was lying about the pollen. I’m still so hard, babe, it hasn’t gone down at all.”
You look down to his sweatpants, at his cock that’s still ragingly hard, tenting the front of his pants.
Your mouth fills with saliva, and you lift your gaze back up to meet your boyfriend’s. You swallow to keep yourself from drooling when you say, “I meant what I said in the car, Kun. However, wherever, as often as you like. I can take it. Use me as your fucktoy.”
“Fuck.” Kun sits the knife aside again, and he reaches for you, twisting his fingers in your hair, and he forces you to your knees.
Your mouth drops open as Kun uses his free hand to push his sweatpants down. His hard, heavy cock springs free, already wet at the tip, leaking a crystalline thread of precum. You don’t need Kun’s hand in your hair to guide you; you dive forward, catching the falling bead on your tongue and following it up to the source, sucking Kun’s cockhead in.
That’s when he takes over, hand pressing against the back of your head, forcing you deeper on his cock. His hips jerk forward at the same time, triggering your gag reflex as he hits the back of your throat. Not that that stops him, if anything it encourages him to go harder, faster, and you take it all, hungry for his cock shoved down your throat even as your eyes begin to water, as your jaw and throat ache from the repeated pressure. You slurp around him as he starts to drag your mouth off of his cock. His fingers tight in your hair, Kun allows you a brief breath before he’s fucking back into your mouth.
You’re drooling all over his cock as Kun holds the back of your head, fucking his cock into the deep warmth of your throat. And when he cums, he just keeps going, filling your mouth and shooting down the back of your throat, it leaks from the corners of your lips, and you think you’re going crazy because you want more.
Kun drags you off his cock by your hair.
Spit and cum and tears streak your face, dripping from your chin as you look up at Kun.
He releases his hold on your hair to run his thumb under your bottom lip. “You’re so beautiful, babe. Get up, here you go.” Kun offers you his hand, and you slide your palm against his as he pulls you up to your feet. “Good girl, now sit down. It’s time for dinner.”
You obediently sit at the table, still a little fucked-dumb, still dripping his cum even when Kun serves you a bowl of the stew he made. It smells heavenly, rich with spices, and you dig in, the flavors of it only made better with the added flavor of Kun’s cum lingering on your tongue.
Kun pretty much inhales his helping of the stew, and he doesn’t even wait for you to finish eating before he’s walking over to you. You’re quite hungry, so you don’t want him to pull you away from the meal, even though you can see his cock still bulging his sweatpants, staining them with a spot of precum.
“Keep eating, babe,” Kun tells you, reaching out to stroke your hair. “You need to eat to keep up your strength. If what the lady said is true, I’m probably gonna be like this for a few days.”
You think back to him sucking the pollen residue off his fingers, licking his hands clean. Who knows how much he ingested?
You eat a spoonful of stew, eyeing his erection out of the corner of your eye. Is he just going to stand there and not take care of it? You look up at Kun, and it’s a horny little demon inside you that speaks with your voice, saying, “You don’t have to wait for me to finish eating, Kun. Until this wears off, I’m yours to do what you want with me.”
His cock twitches in his pants. Kun groans.
“Do you mean that, though? Really?”
You nod. “Anything you want. Within reason. No bringing anyone else into this–”
“I don’t want to share you!” Kun interjects.
You continue, “Nothing that we haven’t talked about before.”
Kun smirks at that. “Well, that pretty much leaves everything on the table, then doesn’t it?” He strokes your hair again. “All I want right now is to cover you in my cum, babe, head to toe. I want to fuck you in every room in this house, fuck you until we both pass out. I want to treat you like my doll.”
You turn back to your bowl of stew. You shrug, “Then do it, Kun.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you see him draw his cock out of his pants. You watch him start stroking his cock, but you focus on eating your stew, blowing on it to cool it off, taking your time to lick the spoon clean after each bite. You eat the stew like your pussy isn’t throbbing with arousal watching Kun jerk off inches away from your face.
He cums again when you’ve got your spoon halfway to your mouth. Kun’s cum streaks over your cheek, landing in your hair, across your lips, some of it hits your spoon and your hand. You eat that spoonful too, enjoying the extra salty addition of his cum to it. Kun keeps stroking his length, a few last spurts striping your cheek as you reach for the bowl. You lift it to your lips, quickly draining what little is left because as soon as it’s gone, as soon as you’ve sat the bowl down, Kun is pulling you to your feet.
When he moves you so your ass is on the edge of the table, you expect Kun to push your shorts to the side and slide his cock right inside you.
You don’t expect Kun to sink to his knees, for him to tear your shorts down around your ankles, and bury his face between your thighs. He spreads your legs with a hand on each thigh, massaging them as he licks at your pussy, as he fucks his tongue into you, as he sucks at your clit and licks up your wetness as you’re drenching his tongue, writhing against his face, needing more and more.
Kun moans loudly, eating you out in the most noisy manner he ever has.
You cum on his tongue, hands knotted in his hair as you ride it out, grinding against Kun’s face.
“If this is what we have in store,” you gasp as Kun licks a strip up your pussy one more time, “I think I could get used to this. You’ve never given better head, honestly. I need you to be this horny all the time if it means I get eaten out like that.”
Kun scatters kisses over your thighs. “We’re just getting started, babe.”
- - -
For the rest of the night, Kun has you sit on his lap, cockwarming him while you watch a movie together.
Kun’s hands are constantly moving – stroking along your thighs, dipping to touch your clit while forcing you to sit still on him; he pulls the neckline of your camisole down to expose your tits, and he teases your nipples until you’re whimpering and fighting the urge to fuck yourself on his cock. But as soon as you get desperate enough to beg for it, Kun stops.
He’ll have you sit up, kneeling above his lap with just the head of his cock still buried in your pussy as he jerks off, cumming inside you so he can watch it drip back out of your pussy. Instead of letting you cum, when you’re teetering on the edge, he’ll have you kneel on the floor, cockwarm him with your mouth instead so he can cum across your tongue and cheeks again, adding even more to the mess he’d made at dinner. He edges you again, and then he fucks your tits, cumming across them then taking his time afterwards to clean it up with his tongue, feeding it back to you and watching you swallow everything before he returns his tongue to your nipples, flicking his tongue over the hardened buds until you’re rocking your hips up off the sofa restlessly.
Kun cums more times than you can keep track of, and you take all of the cum he gives you, hungrily sucking his cock, feeling him fill your pussy, spreading his cum across your tits with your fingers, moaning as he shoots his load across your back while he’s got his fingers inside you.
Kun edges you through it all until finally your body can’t take anymore, and you cum around him while Kun’s got you riding him. He’s hugging you to his chest, his mouth locked with yours, and he is once again spilling into you when your orgasm finally explodes through you.
You don’t remember him carrying you to the bathroom, don’t remember Kun rinsing off with you in the shower, or when he carries you to bed. You remember only a brief glimpse of his cock finally going soft when he settles into bed beside you.
And you think that’s it.
The sex pollen ran its course.
You’re a little bit disappointed at that thought, truly. When you wake in the morning to pale sunlight, you check on your sleeping boyfriend, and Kun is all spread out beside you. He’s kicked away the sheets in his sleep, and although he still feels warm to the touch, his cock is soft against his thigh.
You know maybe you should feel like you had enough yesterday. The never-ending edging paired with the amount of fucking you and excessive cumming Kun had done should have satisfied you. But you were having fun. You liked Kun treating you like a cumdump.
Maybe you should go back to the Little Shop of Wonders, ask the witch for that vial of honey or maybe purchase the whole sex pollen plant.
You crawl quietly out of bed, pull on a shirt of Kun’s, and you tiptoe to the kitchen to deal with the mess from last night. Neither of you had bothered with the dishes from the stew, which are still spread out on the table. You get to work cleaning, tidying things and doing the dishes.
It’s probably for the best that Kun’s already gotten over the effects of the sex pollen, you think as you finish the dishes from last night and start making breakfast instead. Kun is supposed to work today. He’s got a deadline coming up, so he needs to get in the studio today, and he’d been complaining to you yesterday morning about a meeting he has this morning. He’s got things to do, people to see, he can’t call in sick today because he’s too busy dealing with a sex pollen crisis, though at least the people he’s working with and having meetings with are some of his closest friends; they just might understand the situation.
“Good morning,” Kun says suddenly behind you, startling you a bit, but before you can turn to him, his arms are around you, and his hard cock is against your ass. “I guess this isn’t over yet, babe.” He kisses your cheek. “I thought when I fell asleep that it must be. I’d gone soft, but I just woke up hard as I ever was yesterday.”
He thrusts against your ass.
“So I’m gonna fuck you, babe. But you keep doing what you’re doing, hm?” Kun pushes up the back of the shirt you’re wearing, revealing your ass to him. “God, you’re truly unbelievable, you know that? So fucking pretty, my babe.” And then he’s pressing in, cock pushing inside your pussy.
You brace your arms against the countertop, and you try to keep finishing the breakfast prep you’d been doing before Kun came in. The way that he’s fucking you makes that a little more difficult, but you try, and Kun seems to like that.
“Yes, babe, look at you. You’re taking it so well, letting me use you like this.” His cock twitches inside you.
It’s not easy, that’s for sure.
Your focus starts to slip when Kun pulls your hips back, angling you just right so each of his thrusts is nailing against your G spot. He’s moaning behind you, praising how sweet and tight and warm you feel around his cock. Your pussy just keeps growing wetter and wetter as he reaches up beneath your shirt to grope at your tits, as you try to keep on task even as Kun’s fucking you into delirium.
Kun cums, flooding your pussy, pressing in deep a few more times.
He steps back, and although you try to keep tight, to keep his cum in, you can feel some of it dripping out, sliding down your thigh, dropping to the floor.
Kun pats your ass, then pulls the shirt back down.
“Good girl.” He kisses your cheek again.
He sits down at the table, and a few moments later, the breakfast you were making is ready, so he pulls you into his lap to dine together.
“Kun,” you say after a while, “Don’t you have to go to the studio today? Don’t you have a meeting too?”
His erection is digging into your thigh, unable to be ignored.
“I do, and I was actually thinking about that.” He brushes his lips over your neck. “What if you come with me? This reaction isn’t going away, so I’m going to need to cum regardless of whether you’re there or not. So I could jerk off every five minutes, or you could come along and we’ll both get something out of it. What do you say?”
Twenty minutes later, you’re in the car with Kun. He’s flying down the streets.
Even though his eyes are focused on the road, his driving is worse than usual, though that almost certainly has to do with the fact that as soon as he’d pulled onto the road, he’d tangled his fingers in your hair and urged your mouth down into his lap.
You eagerly sucked at Kun’s cock, stroking him with both hands, leaving kisses along his length, drooling over the tip, choking yourself on him. Kun lays his hand on the back of your head, directing you when he really feels like he needs to. As you draw closer to the studio where Kun works as a producer, he starts taking over, pushing you down around his cock, his hips rising off the seat to drive himself deeper down your throat.
He cums right as he’s pulling into the parking garage of the studio. You clean him up as he navigates to a parking spot, and you wait patiently in the passenger seat as Kun gets out. He comes around to your side, opening the door and taking your hand like a gentleman, and he pulls you into a kiss as soon as you’re both standing outside the car.
He takes you into his studio, sitting you in his lap while he starts working, though that only works for so long. Soon he’s getting distracted by the pressing need he keeps grinding against your ass, so he has you slide to your knees beneath the mixing board. You pull up the sweater you wore, and Kun has you push your tits together around his cock, and he fucks between the softness of them, cumming across your tits and then immediately dragging your mouth around his cock.
You’re still kneeling there beneath the mixing board with your mouth full of his cock when his friend, who is also the artist he’s recording today, walks in. YangYang either doesn’t notice you down there or chooses not to say anything. You obediently keep your mouth around Kun, suckling and shifting on your knees.
YangYang chats with Kun for just a couple minutes, and then he heads into the recording booth.
Kun drags you off his cock, and you look up at him. “Babe, I really need to focus on this recording session, okay? So I’m gonna need you to take everything I give you, no whining or touching yourself, okay?”
You nod, sticking your tongue out, offering your mouth up to Kun again.
“Good girl.” Kun pushes you back down around his cock. You hear him press a button above your head, and then he says, “Alright, YangYang, go ahead.”
You bob your head on Kun’s cock, working your hardest to get him to cum for you, knowing that if he doesn’t cum, Kun’s going to be distracted. All you have to do is keep him satisfied, and then he’ll be focused.
He cums within minutes, but you keep going, and Kun tightens his fingers in your hair. You bring your hands up to his cock too, stroking him into your mouth, letting some of his cum and your spit slide down to lube the way. You’re making a mess of him; his cum leaking out of your mouth is pooling on the front of his pants, but you can’t help it. You’re swallowing around him, swallowing the first load of cum, but before long he’s cumming again, letting out a grunt as you choke around his cock.
“Dude, you good?” YangYang asks from inside the booth.
“Fine. Try that verse again.”
Kun’s hand weighs down against the back of your head, pushing you all the way down around his cock, and you close your eyes, letting him do it. You sink into some kind of state where you’re not asleep, but you’re not fully conscious either. All you know is the weight of Kun’s cock on your tongue, the taste of his cum, the smell of him as your nose is buried at the base of his cock. You can hear his voice, but he could be talking to you or a whole crowd of people, and you wouldn’t know the difference.
Eventually, Kun lets you up again, tugging lightly on your hair.
You gag as you’re pulled off of him, coughing and gasping for breath. Kun’s cum drips from your lips and chin.
“Are you okay?” Kun asks when he takes one look at the dazed expression on your face. “Babe, are you good to continue.”
You nod, feeling your lips form a loose smile.
Kun brings his hand up, wiping at your cheeks and chin and lips. His fingers are gentle beneath your chin as he brings you forward into a kiss. His lips leave yours, brushing over your forehead.
“We’re done with this for now.” He helps you the rest of the way to your feet. “You’re too far gone, you can’t even speak to me right now. If you could see the look on your face right now, my love, you would understand. Don’t pout.” You didn’t realize you were until Kun said that, and you try to tame your expression. He smiles, leading you over to the sofa along the back wall. “Take a nap. You’re amazing, and I love you, and once this all wears off, I owe you something huge.”
You hum, sinking down onto the sofa, laying your head down, and immediately you can feel a tired pull.
Kun strokes his hand over your head, kisses your forehead one more time, and you’re asleep before he walks away.
- - -
You sleep it off there on the sofa, waking hours later to go home with Kun.
He fucks you senseless a few more times that night at home, and when you wake the next morning you stay in bed with him, waiting for him to wake, waiting for him to need to fuck you again, to let you suck his cock again even though you’re pretty sure at this point, your throat is permanently molded to the shape of Kun’s cock.
But when he wakes, Kun just pulls you against his chest. His cock doesn’t grow hard. He just sighs and holds you close, and you’re actually perfectly content with that change of pace too.
But a few days later, as you’re heading home from work, you get the thought into your head to return to the Little Shop of Wonders, to see if that witchy woman will sell you a vial of that sex honey.
The pollen had been a lot. Your body is still aching days later, and Kun swears his balls are sore from how much he came in such a short span of time. But you’ve both agreed that maybe the honey would be nice to have – a less intense version of that that lasts only a few hours wouldn’t be bad to experience from time to time.
You walk down the side street you’d passed down just a few days ago, and you search the shopfronts for the window displays filled with crystals and viney plants, for the recessed doorway with the brass lantern and the ancient-looking wooden door.
But you pass up and down that street three times, checking each shop before you finally give up. It’s not here. It’s as if the Little Shop of Wonders was never here at all, but you know you couldn’t have imagined it.
Weeks pass, you forget about it, too swept up in the holiday season closing in around you. Christmas is just days away, winter staking her claim over the city with a snowstorm blowing in this afternoon, ruining your plans to go shopping for Kun a Christmas present and a birthday present, since that’s a week later.
You’re hurrying home from work, bundled up against the chill, thinking about what you can get Kun that he’ll truly appreciate.
And then, from the corner of your eye through the swirling snow, you see a gleam of bronze. You turn your head.
A brass lamp.
A wooden door.
Large plate glass windows frosted over, but not entirely concealing the displays of crystals and books and a wreath of candles and symbols.
A new wooden sign creaks above the door, blowing back and forth in the wind.
The Little Shop of Wonders sits waiting, promising the perfect present for Kun.
a/n: I could've gone on and on with this one honestly! I was going to write a few more scenes, but it's getting late and I really need to post this.
I hope you enjoyed! Reblogs are deserving of my eternal gratitude, likes are greatly appreciated, and your thoughts and comments are always welcome !

do you think odalia should of had more depth?
So weirdly enough, I think this is an incorrect question because it implies Odalia by herself is important. A story needs to understand the usefulness of its characters after all, what their purpose is, etc. like that. For a lot of essentially one off characters, say Viney or Vee for example, a hint of depth but not exploring it is smart because you allow your fans to imagine what they could be like but they don't get in the way of the story you're telling. One off villains especially fall into this because their point much more often than anything else is simply to instigate a conflict. That's it.
I do not deride the vast majority of S1 villains for being one note. In fact, a lot of them are more fun for their simplicity. As Odalia is essentially a one off villain just meant for Amity's growth, because she's her daughter, she shouldn't need depth because she is just an obstacle to be conquered.
...That whole part 'Amity's her daughter' is a bit of a problem though, isn't it?
See, the minute you tie a villain to a main character, that starts complicating things. The more their relationship has effected either side, their narrative role starts to warp. They are suddenly a large figure within this person's life and so not only is defeating them a much bigger, more complicated affair but also that the villain's character is going to make or break critical elements of a main character's influences and backstory. They can no longer be one note unless their role was one note.
So instead of 'Should Odalia have had more depth' the better question is 'Is more depth for Odalia necessary for her place in the narrative related to Amity?' That requires us to define what her role in Amity's life is. What in theory her actions as told by Amity set her up as.
Odalia before S2 is a parent who has enforced onto Amity the need for social standing, power and exceptionalism. She also has so much power over Amity's life as to dictate who she can and can't be friends with and we can assume by the cruelty that Amity and the twins enact upon others, even within their own family, that this competition is inherent to the Blight family as a whole.
HOWEVER.
Also before S2, we see cracks of kindness within all of this. Odalia still caring enough to make sure Amity gets her lunch. Odalia overlooking the twins' bad behavior, despite Hexside seeming like the sort of school that would have called Odalia over them skipping class. Amity does not appear to fear repercussions from her mother anymore when it comes to her friend group as she befriends Luz and Willow without seemingly any fear of retribution (especially Luz) and discards Boscha and her entire old friend group without any real effort. This implies that Odalia isn't as controlling as Understanding Willow implies because her children actually have an incredible amount of freedom and free will. They do not live in the constant shadow of their parent, even if Odalia has had a large impact on them.
I focus on pre-S2 like this for a reason. You can retcon all you want BUT Odalia had to stand on what was setup before her arrival. Anything afterwards is damage control for fuck ups they made. Even then, many of their retcons actually make elements of this worse as Odalia was able to internalize her dream of Amity being in the EC so severely that just the idea of ANY threat to that was able to drive Amity to madness (Teenage Abomination) or close to the brink of tears (Covention). This further implies a great deal of influence over Amity and that her lessons left deep scars on her, to the point where Amity stopped distinguishing between her mother's desires and her own.
That doesn't FUNCTION with S2.
Odalia in S2 leans in ENTIRELY into the idea that she'd straight up murder one of her own children if they stepped out of line too far. She literally was willing to show how efficiently her HOME DEFENSE robot, which you would think would be used to protect YOUR KIDS, can murder a child in order to hurt Amity and prove her dominance. The twins, who are unrepentant in their schemes outside of Amity almost getting killed, do fear repercussions from Odalia. Odalia hates literally anything that makes them step out of line with the image she desires for her family, thus trying to dye Amity's hair. She is a monster, through and through.
A monster that Amity tells to go fuck herself and suffer ZERO ramifications from. If the show were as brave as people claim, that would have led to Amity being DISOWNED because why would Odalia continue to accept what is clearly an abject failure of ideals at this point? Yes, Alador theoretically pushes the idea of how Amity might be getting stronger based on this but why would she actually believe that? And even then, is a potential coven head worth it if it gives her no power back because they won't listen to her? Because they aren't profitable and loyal to her anymore? Even without the retcons to Alador, there's a real case that just in her first appearance, it's a cop out. Post Alador's retcons where Odalia doesn't care about him and doesn't listen to him, where she takes a single act of betrayal as a reason to accuse him of wanting to break off their partnership, all of this only becomes worse.
And all of this comes back around to crack Amity's character. That arc everyone praises from S1? Now it makes no sense because Amity's influences make no sense. What she rebels against is made trivial but also incomprehensible because there SHOULD have been consequences and she should have MUCH more scared of those consequences. Instead, it comes incredibly easy and naturally to her to break her bonds and be a good person with the 'right' friends now. This is compounded by how little anyone ever calls out her behavior or how almost all of the time she may spend being introspective is off screen. We don't get to see the ideals she holds be properly challenged besides... Luz existing and Understanding Willow. Meanwhile, HER MOTHER is like THIS. Where those ideals would be constantly reinforced and the consequences for breaking those ideals would be SEVERE.
So, to loop back around: Did Odalia need more depth? Yes. Or she had to have mattered much, MUCH less to Amity.
======+++++======
As a note, this is one of those big examples to me for how TOH fans struggle to actually bring the show together for their analysis rather than cherry picking examples or using single episodes. Anyone who tries to claim Odalia and Amity's relationship makes sense is ignoring a LOT of elements that intrinsically tied to one another and how those elements cascade upon each other. Complex storytelling is like this where one creative choice creates a knock on effect. Making characters all be tied between each other somehow is one of the best examples of this but I feel like a lot of fans, for the sake of praising Amity's arc, only focus on Odalia and Amity like they are in a closed circuit and only for the specific parts they want to use in that circuit. That's not how this works.

Every once in a while, I come across an Owl House fic in which someone does something romantic/sexual with someone who isn't their established partner, and I see it tagged as "Cheating". Which, in the context of that fic, is almost certainly exactly right! (I wouldn't know for sure, I don't really read these fics.)
But I can't help but imagine the leadup to this, how this situation comes about in the first place. And wonder how, at no point, did the previously-involved character bring this up to their established partner. And wonder how, at some point, they decided that doing these things with someone who isn't their established partner is bad, and wrong, and "Cheating".
The Boiling Isles were made to have few or none of the usual biases which brought about our cisnormative, heteronormative, amatonormative, allonormative, perisex-normative, etc. society. Some real-world biases remain, like ableism, classism, and (although it's quite different from its real-world counterpart) racism, but they're mostly reserved for the real jerks, not applied on a wider scale. In all, it's an absolute queer haven, and I somehow doubt that polyamory is where they draw the line.
Since the most recent ship I saw with this was Luz/Viney (cheating on established Luz/Amity), let's imagine two scenarios.
Scenario A:
Viney sends Luz some Signals: she wants something romantic and/or sexual from her. Luz, oblivious as she is, doesn't notice the implications until things have already progressed to a certain point with Viney's desparation to get the point across and/or mounting inability to reign in her impulses, so something has already been done, by Viney, to Luz. Stolen kiss, slap on the ass, whatever, doesn't matter. They're impulsive teens, so everything feels like the Most Thing. Luz talks to Amity about it in a panic, because of COURSE she does, those two are modern media's single most communicative leading ladies. Amity is like "Oh shit, but did she mention me?" because she's also kind of a massive lesbian, and Viney is the triple threat of Confident, Competent, and Chaotic. Even if Amity has no particular feelings for Viney (which is admittedly pretty likely), she must still admit that Viney is a hell of a catch. So far, she has no reason to feel anything but happy for Luz, and doesn't understand why Luz is panicking. Luz, having grown up in the modern, compulsively monogamous United States, is confused as fuck about Amity's seemingly blase attitude toward this development, and says something like "But isn't that/wouldn't that be cheating???" and Amity is like "What? Cheating how? Who's being cheated out of something? Viney? Me? You?" 'Cause like. Nobody loses. Luz gets to kiss or whatever with Viney and also kiss or whatever with Amity. Nothing about one says she can't do the other. Hell, dating someone who's dating someone is a great way to get to know someone, and a great way to gauge mutual interest, should you ever want to date someone. Luz predictably brings up that whole weird monogamous people thing with like. Assumed exclusivity, or whatever you call it. And Amity is like "Okay, but I don't own you??? I can't control everything you do and dictate who you can interact with and how, because what the FUCK, that would be super evil and controlling and manipulative and weird. And way too much like something Odalia would do." And Luz is like "Oh shit. Wow. Polyamory. Awesome. Once I'm done disavowing all notions of infidelity, and figure out my own feelings on the matter, will you hold my hand for moral support as an excuse to come along with me when I get back to Viney about it?" And Amity is like "Hell yeah. Let's fucking go." And then they do and maybe something comes of it but who fucking knows or cares because they Communicated. Like they are wont to do. Sike, actually. I care, and I think Viney/Luz/Amity is AWESOME.
VS
Scenario B:
Viney sends Luz some Signals. Luz reciprocates these signals immediately, despite herself, because she's an impulsive teen, I guess. One thing leads to another, and WHOOPS, now Luz is in some kind of not-strictly-platonic relationship with Viney, even though she was already in such a relationship with Amity. Luz internally berates herself for her infidelity, all the while still doing said infidelity. She doesn't tell Amity because she's way too deep now, it would ruin the relationship, or something! Amity finds out anyways and becomes so heartbroken that she breaks up with Luz on the spot and probably drinks herself into a coma or something. I don't know, this isn't really my subgenre. Luz only realizes her mistake after it has already cost her the love of her life (whom she already knowingly and willingly betrayed, somehow), and I dunno how much further into this scenario I need to go for you to get the point.
Which of these do you think is more likely? Which of these appeals more to you, personally? Which of these completely butchers the existing characters and their dynamics for the sake of a "hey wouldn't it be fucked up if ___" hypothetical? For the record: you and I might disagree on any or all of these.
I dunno. Maybe I'm just too poly for this. Or not allo enough for this. Or too much of a multi-shipper for this. Or haven't actually read the fics in question enough for this. Or haven't felt the touch of another recently enough for this. It sure has been almost a decade. Gosh. Who can say.
#the owl house#fandom meta#polyamory#cheating#i guess#toh viney#luz noceda#amity blight#lumity#what's luz x viney called? luney? vinuz?#ehh whatever#and what about amity x luz x viney? luminey? wait actually that one kinda works

Viney Renders
Like Skara, Viney is a character I've grown to appreciate a lot more while writing her in my fics. Espsically, in one of my most recent fics, "Stomach Churned." She's a very down to Earth realist yet also tough and easily angered. I remember Dana saying she was meant to be a one-off character, but I'm glad they brought her back and put her on the Flyer Derby Team. Exploring her friendship with the rest of the team is very, very fun.
I guess I should answer this. Do I ship Skara and Viney? Ehhh, I don't know. I do like the ship but at the same time I could see them being just friends. I'm not really sure what chemistry they'd have. (But then again I'm the same person who ships Boscha and Amelia with Cat being their supportive third wheel when they've like hardly interacted on screen sooo.... idk even I make no sense to myself)
I will say Mark's version of their story is super cute and I'd definitely ship it if that was cannon.
It's sad Viney didn't get more screentime... but with the way animation works and Dana not expecting the fandom to love Viney so much, she could only really bring her back in season 2... and the shortening, I don't think anyone is to really blame here (outside Disney for the shortening). And sometimes it can be fun to explore concepts that a show never confirmed because at least your fanon version will never be irrelevant!
Also I'm very happy with how my personal casual outfit came out for her. I felt like she'd like ripped clothes.
Also I fucking love Viney's palisman I named him Basil and he is my baby.

hiiiiiiiii~ Its me!!! 🪶🐺 anon!
So.
THE MISSING CHILDREN ARE THERE?!? Wait who’s Henry in this AU? I would say Caleb but you said he’s never met Hunter so. Fun. Also do you have character references for the silly’s yet? Also COLLECTORRRR!!!!!! Wait don’t tell me king died too….. poor Luz, I wonder what her reaction to a animatronic which *IS NOT SUPPOSED TO MOVE ON ITS OWN* moving. Also does Luz get Swearing Privileges? And is Phillip luring Luz in for Death? Wait ofc he is. -🐺🪶
hi!! YEAH i actually don’t know if i’ve mentioned this yet? but the missing children are viney, skara, jerbo, and barcus! they possess freddy, chica, bonnie, and foxy respectively. they’re all around collectors age (viney is the oldest, barcus is the youngest)
caleb technically takes on henry’s role as being the co-founder, philips brother, hunters dad, etc but yeah he .. Disappears some months before hunter is actually born💔
i have rough wips for character refs, im hoping to have them cleaned up and posted soon-ish!
king isn’t dead! he’s just got his own Special Thing going on (talking to dead people)
luz doesn’t realize at first that anything is off, but when it comes to a point where it’s undeniable, she’s both freaked out and moreso curious. something is up and she’s gonna figure out what! she probably didn’t bet on it being murder, but
yea luz has swearing privileges :D she gets the only (as it stands) use of the word “fuck” in the entire fic too. good for her
philips motivations for hiring luz are questionable. no one is really sure what goes on in his head. im sure it’ll turn out fine! ^_^
#ask#txt#🪶🐺 anon#the halcyon project#long post#this au is so ridiculous on paper. but im playing and having fun soooo

G O D *Grits teeth* You ever think about how fucking unfair it is that Luz’s mental health an self worth has been on a decline since like. GROM??? Since she got traumatized, and how many incidents she’s been carrying under her belt discretely, yet very clearly, as they grow and culminate no matter how hard Luz tries to compensate and apologize for being her imperfect self? Remember when Luz once said “I don’t deserve this” to a bad thing that happened to her, only for Viney to admittedly take that the wrong way, and Luz has felt punished for that claim as a result?
Luz tries to help Willow, gets her and Gus hurt, and just offers herself as a sacrificial tribute to Boscha. No blinking. Tries to help Eda with the curse when Eda tells her not to, BAM! Eda loses magic and Luz goes through some horrible stuff, is told that the weirdoes don’t stick together actually, and fucking Belos.
Then Luz spends all of 2A basically apologizing and trying to mend things over while acting like they’re okay for the sake of those she cares about. Says Willow and Gus don’t deserve to be expelled, but not herself! TURNS HERSELF INTO A LITERAL PUNCHING BAG. Thinks Amity hates her, and then that she just scared Amity off in her preemptive self-loathing!
HER MOM. Luz tried so hard to get back to her mom just to leave her sobbing, with Luz feeling like she’s evil and trash. After thinking she got a happy reconciliation with Vee’s help! And it haunts Luz so badly she immediately projects onto KIKIMORA in order to feel like she can make a difference!
And then the feeling of her dad’s death, the guilt, the sense that she’s failed another parent again and how he isn’t coming back. AND FUCKING PHILIP BELOS WITTEBANE GASLIGHTING LUZ INTO THINKING IT’S HER FAULT. THAT SHE HELPED HIM!!!
And Luz is in such anguish but she’s still trying, she still thinks she can salvage this, she’s in desperate denial! But Eda rebukes her and Luz is just WHY WON’T YOU LET ME APOLOGIZE FOR EVERYTHING, and then for a moment it seems it might work out. It CAN work out!
And then King’s Tide.
AND SHE JUST GIVES UP IN S3!!! JUST FUCKING HATES HERSELF!!! The one moment of comfort she has with her mom and she interprets the lesson to mean ISOLATING HERSELF AS REPARATION!
Luz kept encountering wave after wave of bigger and more traumatic incidents that targeted her self worth and sense of guilt over daring to want anything for herself or even for others, made her out to be some villain for trying. And for every slight comfort that tried to bandage over, it’s not enough and is then immediately superceded by another incident! Dana said Season 2 was PAIN, she meant it! She really meant it! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-
Dana Terrace this is fucking criminal. I’m goddamn miserable over this Luz deserves better than this why couldn’t she still be HAPPY after S1?!!?!
TOH got me acting up like a hysterical Victorian woman forreal. Coughing and gagging as I sob!

A new nemesis...
I thought I hated English ivy before, but after spending two straight hours ripping it out of the woods as part of a volunteer forest restoration effort on Tuesday, I can now confidently say my previous feeling was - at MOST - a mild dislike.
Now I REALLY fucking hate English ivy.
Why do I hate it?
🗡️slippery when wet, so you can't get a good grip to yank it out of the soil 🗡️if you do get a good grip, you can only yank until it criss-crosses eight other ivy roots like an invasive plant game of pick-up-sticks 🗡️tangles everywhere, on everything 🗡️underground vines 2" in diameter you uncover and then gawk at since you can't do anything else to them 🗡️but mostly there's SO FUCKING MUCH OF IT, JESUS CHRIST
That said, it feels incredible to get out in the woods and murder the viney bastards. I used to drive past unmaintained green spaces in this city and fantasize about ripping out the invasive plants, and now I actually get to! Yes I did get too enthusiastic yanking out a particular vine while standing on a slippery incline, and yes I did fall backwards ass-over-teakettle in front of a college intern and a high school student getting volunteer hours, and yes I was incredibly sore afterward. No regrets.
I forgot to take a before picture, but I assure you, it was all ivy.
Now there is LESS ivy.
Next Tuesday I'll meet with the same group in a different spot in the neighborhood, and we'll murder some more English ivy and Himalayan blackberries together. It's gonna be great!
#english ivy#invasive species#volunteering#finally I get to carry out my fantasies of absolutely murking The Worst Weed in the World

The dead must return to the grave.
Was thinking about how underused the whole dead coming back plot was in HoO
So that caused me to think of dead characters from the first series returning and just hanging out on the Argo, and helping in anyway they can.
But then I thought about what will happen when they have to go back. So I thought of them knowing that Thanatos is coming to collect them and spending the day hanging out with the seven and saying goodbyes.
Which spawned this thing, originally it was going to be Luke instead of Castor but I think Luke can die alone, cus fuck that guy.
And I have a stupid headcanon that the Dionysus twins and Annabeth had a Rivals to friends to basically siblings type of thing going on. (the rivalry was over Chiron)
So I wrote this in two hours. So go easy on me i know its probably out of character for Annabeth.
"Beth," Castor whispered.
Annabeth turned away from the bedroom door, "Yeah?".
There was a beat of silence.
"Will you stay with me?" Castor asked finally, "I'm scared."
Annabeth wanted to leave. She didn't want to have to watch another brother figure die. But hearing his small, scared voice convinced her. She couldn't leave him to die alone.
"Sure Cast." She whispered, lying down next to him on the soft mattress. Her grey eyes met his purple ones. She hadn't noticed before, but grape vines had grown in his hair the way they usually did when he or Pollux was stressed.
She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a hug like they used to do when they were younger. He pushed a stray blonde hair from her face.
"Thank you," Castor whispered.
"Anytime, Cast," She said, though her voice cracked with emotion.
"You know what I wish I could have done before I go?"
"What?"
"I wish I could have seen the camp again."
Annabeth felt a lump form in her throat, " I'm sorry, Castor," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Castor smiled weakly, his breathing becoming more ragged. "It's okay, Beth. I'm just glad you're here with me."
A tear ran down Annabeth's cheek. She would do anything to keep him here: to bring him back to camp, back to his family, back to her, but she knew better than anyone that you couldn't fight Death.
"Promise me something." Castor whispered, "Or more two somethings," He cracked a weak smile.
"Anything Cass." Her voice cracked with emotion. The tears started to run freely now.
"Promise me that you'll take care of Viney. Plant him in camp for me." He pointed to a potted plant on his bedside.
"I promise." she said, "What's the second something?"
Castor's eyes fluttered shut, and his breathing slowed.
Annabeth's heart stopped, "Cass," she said, shaking the son of Dionysus, "Cassie," She said, shaking him harder now.
Castor's eyes flickered open, "Sorry, Owlbrain, fell asleep there."
Annabeth laughed tearfully. He and his twin, Pollux, had made up the name for her when they first met when they were 'rivals'. It all seemed so childish to her now.
She wiped a tear from her cheek with her sleeve, "What's the second thing, Cassie?" she asked.
"Promise me, I won't see you or Pollux there until you're both old."
"I promise, Castor"
"Pinky promise?" He laughed weakly, extending his pinky finger to her.
"Pinky promise." She said, entwining her finger with his. It was just a silly, childish gesture, but to them, it was more sacred than the Styx.
He pulled her close, enveloping her in a tight, grape-scented embrace. She sobbed freely in his arms, all her bravery leaving her. He stroked her blonde curls soothingly. He told her old stories of the stuff they got up to when they were younger, memories she hadn't let herself think about in years.
They stayed that way for what must have been hours, the soothing rocking of the Argo rocking them to sleep.
.....
Castor was gone in the morning. A withered pile of leaves, where he had laid the night before, were the only proof that he had been there.
Annabeth Chase sat on the edge of the bed, careful not to disturb the leaves. She silently stared at the potted plant on the bedside, not daring to pick it up. A thought came to her mind: the second last line of the prophecy:
An oath to keep with a final breath.
The final breath was Castor's, and like hell, was she going to keep that oath.
For her brother, Castor Chardonnay.
------
The end.
Who were silent because they saw the empty beds of the other guys who went back to the Elysium.
Funny story I was going to have this end with a more bitter ending by Annabeth going out to sit at the dining table with the rest of the seven
So it just ends with them sitting their in silence, to shocked to say anything.
Thankfully i chose a much more bittersweet ending.
Also as for what will happen to Viney the plant during BoO when the argo gets destroyed.
I had a scene in mind where right before Zeus whacks the argo back to CHB she rushes to then plant and hands it to mr D (why the fuck was he not there in the actual canon fight).
And one last thing before i go-
Should i post this on Ao3 too?

I hoped out of bed at 2am to write this just take it.
“My hands are cold” Robin whines, rubbing her palms together. The motion brings little warmth to her freezing knuckles, already aching after being gripped into tighter fists for the past few… days, hours, weeks. She can’t count the number of times her hands have fiercely gripped the nearest surface at the scrape of metal since last summer. Even the start of a car engine reminds her all too well of last summer, of fireworks and flesh blobs.
He likes it cold.
It makes sense that the upside down would be colder than the freezers at Scoops Ahoy, she supposes, this being the realm of the Mind Flayer, who, obviously, likes it cold.
Robin had been more prepared for the chill this time, this being her second time in the Upside down, but the cold bite still sunk deep, a shiver running like a ghost down her spine the moment she’d fallen into the viney blue rendition of the town she called home.
“Yeah, we know Robin.” Steve says, annoyance taking over his voice. The trek through the upside down hadn’t been good for any of their nerves, and Robin had lasted about thirty seconds of staying quiet for the sake of their slowly waning sanity before bursting out some idiotic ramble or whiny comment.
And in front of Nancy, no less. Robin can already feel their seemingly blooming friendship withering when the curly haired her inevitably notices that Robin is… Robin.
Honestly, Robin shouldn’t be surprised, much less disappointed, because she should’ve known someone as badass and beautiful as Nancy would turn tail after being hit with the full force of the friend-repelling machine that is Robin’s personality.
But Nancy had seemed happy at the implications of their new friendship in the woods, sparking a little, dangerous flame of hope that was immediately doused by a tiny voice in the back of her head, insisting that it’s just a matter of time before Nancy realizes how lame and annoying Robin is. Robin had pushed the thought away at the time, trying to cling onto the moment.
But now, Robin’s beginning to think that the stupid voice was right, seeing as Nancy hasn’t said a word to her their entire time in the upside down.
Chill, robin. Don’t read too much into it.
“Well, it’s true,” Robin states presently, if only to annoy Steve. He scoffs somewhere behind her, seemingly walking next to Nancy. Which Robin is like, totally not jealous about. The opposite of jealous, really. Happy. Because two of her friends were going to be dating, or something, and Steve would finally be happy. And who cares, honestly, if Robin has to endure a lovey-dovey pda between the two once and a while, because at the end of the day she loves them both.
Still, she feels… somewhat uncomfortable at the thought of Nancy and Steve spending time together, cuddling and kissing, when it could be Nancy and Robin instead—
Robin blinks.
Nope.
No way.
No way in hell is she crushing on badass, smart, beautiful Nancy fucking Wheeler.
She’s just jealous Steve would be spending time with someone else. That’s all. Normal, third-wheel feelings.
But then Robin’s mind unwillingly pictures Nancy, her brown curled framing her face, her eyes lighting up when she comes up with an idea, her pursed smile, kissing Steve. And her heart aches.
Because she’s never minded Steve dating girls before, or him kissing Sharon or Jill or whatever girl he was dating in the back of Family Video during his break, so why should this be different? She doesn’t have a crush on Nancy.
She can’t have a crush on Nancy, because Steve would never forgive her and she would never forgive herself.
Robin’s hands shake, and she’s not sure if it’s the cold or the terrifying thoughts with a grip on her heart.
Somewhere in the distance, a branch cracks.
Robin’s eyes snap up, her knuckles immediately gripping the flashlight in her hand, not helping the slight ache.
The trio freezes, glancing around wildly. It’s come from somewhere up ahead, through the scattered trees and vines in front of them.
A beat.
Another.
Nothing.
Robin lets out a breath, her chest relaxing.
“I’ll go check it out.” Steve says, the tense moment lost, tossing his bat to the other hand and dropping his backpack and jogging ahead.
“Our hero,” Robin whispers, blowing a kiss to him. Steve rolls his eyes as he passes, disappearing into the mass of trees. Leaving Robin and Nancy.
Alone.
Nancy chuckles slightly, walking up a little to stand beside Robin.
“He certainly likes to play hero, doesn’t he?” Nancy says, nudging Robin slightly. Robin laughs and nods.
“You should see him in front of the babes at Family Video. He acts like he’s my boss.”
Nancy laughs again, and Robin takes the sound and wants to taste it, to keep it with her forever.
“Does he have a girlfriend, then?” Nancy asks. Robin feels her heart tighten.
“No.” Robin replies simply, not trusting herself to say anything else without choking.
“Ah.”
“Yeah.” Robin takes a deep breath, letting her head fall back to stare at the canopy of petrified trees above them. Her eyes wander unwillingly to Nancy.
“Are your hands really that cold?” The brunette asks with a playful smile, and Robin glances back down. Her fingers are shaking again.
“Uh, yeah. I-I guess I’m not really used to the, um, cold.” Robin stutters the confession out, eyes meeting Nancy’s blue ones that somehow always seem to glow.
“Well,” Nancy says slowly. “We can always hold hands if that will warm yours up. Mine aren’t that cold”
Robin feels her light up like a firework, an explosion of blush on her face.
“Oh.. uh, I—” but it’s too late, and Nancy’s fingers are intertwining with Robin's undoubtedly sweaty ones, warmth sparking at the touch.
Oh
Nancy Wheeler is holding her hand.
“Better?” Nancy asks, looking up at Robin with her big doe eyes.
“Yeah,'' Robin breathes shakily.
They stay like that a moment, hands locked together, shared warmth heating Robins cheeks and heart and long, slender fingers.
Steve bursts through the trees, sudden and surprising, and Robin feels Nancy’s hand pull away quickly, her own fingers quickly longing for the warmth of Nancy’s parting touch.
“It was nothing.” Steve proclaims somewhat proudly, grinning.
“Congrats,” Robin deadpans. “You’ve saved us. What would ever would we do without you?”
“Oh, shut up.”
They continue walking, and Robin can feel her needy heart aching. She hadn’t missed how days Nancy had disconnected them, or the guilty expression on the other girl's face as Robin quipped at Steve.
She’d be more ashamed if she knew what you were.
Robin’s hands shake all the way to Vecna’s mansion.
—
Even after making it through the woods, after throwing Molotov cocktails at Vecna, after hearing the crack in Dustin’s voice when he tells them Eddie’s dead, after carrying a lifeless Max to the hospital, Robin can feel her heart yearning for more.
For Nancy’s touch in the upside down woods, in Vecna’s doorway, beside Max’s hospital bed.
For Nancy.

Skara deserved better. Even with how Disney fucked the show over, it feels like the show teased us with actual Skara development or cool moments and just left it all to rot. It’s like asking your parents for a PlayStation for Christmas, then explicitly telling you they’re getting you a PlayStation for Christmas, waking up on Christmas to open your PlayStation, open up a PlayStation box… and finding a massive brick inside. And a set of your parents divorce papers with the words “YOUR FAULT” written in bright red letters.
I wanted to see Skara with her Palisman. I wanted to see Skara be more then a semi-valley girl. But most importantly, I wanted Skara to leave Boscha and become friends with Willow. And I… sort of got that.
I saw Skara with a Palisman, but no reason for why it chose her or even a name for the little guy. I saw Skara say she’s a great strategist but the show never bothers showing her planning anything. And worse, she left Boscha and became friends with Willow, but the show never actually does anything with it. It’s never explained why she left Boscha, or why Willow not only forgave her but trusted her enough to let her on The Entrails. People say she had an ‘offscreen redemption arc’ but that’s not how character development works. And worse, that implies Skara actually had development instead of just being completely rewritten.
The worst of it was Future. After the thumbnail, I hoped that maybe she would have something cool to do. And when I saw that Boscha was gonna be a big part of the story, I thought we’d get some exploration of their relationship.
Instead, it was lies. Skara only exists to give exposition about New Hexside. Willow interacts more with Viney then she does Skara. Despite it being her former best friend, who the show has implied Skara knew was dangerous and too extreme throughout, Matt, not Skara, is the one to lead New Hexsides resistance. And worse, despite explicitly writing Boscha’s arc to be about her fear of loss and her obsession with reclaiming her past friendships, Amelia and Cat, two characters who hadn’t been named in the show until the second to last episode, are more important to her then Skara, a girl who, like Amity, was someone she hung around with for like, almost a decade, but seemingly lost to Willow. Skara unironically would have had more impact on the story if she had been taken by The Collector and made a puppet.
I get not giving her a whole spotlight episode, but then just keep her as Boscha’s lackey if you aren’t gonna do anything with her. Hell, if she stayed Boscha’s lackey then maybe you can use her to show how far Boscha’s fallen in FTF and let her be the one who gets Boscha to stop and realize she’s wrong, idk. The show kept writing like it wanted to expand Skara, even a little bit, but it all honestly felt worse then if they just kept her Boscha’s friend, cause at least then it be consistent.

When people say luz is a lesbian
SHE IS A BISEXUAL ICON AND LITERALLY WEARS A BI PIN IN THANKS TO THEM
SHE HAS SHOWN INTERESTS IN MEN AND WOMEN
PEOPLE STOP ERASING HER ATTRACTION TO MEN JUST BECAUSE SHES DATING A GIRL
SHES STILL BISEXUAL
(This is NOT lumity salt. I love them.)
Also when people say huntlow was rushed and forced as if Hunter didn’t blush in the first episode they met and they don’t have lumity parallels and as if the show wasn’t cut short
oh yeah that shit's infuriating. the crew didn't include a coming-out scene (albeit short) for ppl to claim Luz is a lesbian like 😬 have some respect for bisexual folks (i've never seen anyone do this yet tho, guess i'm lucky lol)
btw this is not to say lesbian hcs are bad, i love my lesbians and bi pals equally. but not only do we already have a canon lesbian (Amity) there are plenty of characters you can headcanon as well (Viney, Emira, Skara, Boscha, etc. hell i even saw ppl giving this hc to Raine)
as for Huntlow, i can kiiiind of see why ppl would be upset, but for the bad reasons imo. first of all you're right, the show has been shortened and Huntlow, despite being in the works since day one, suffered from this, so it's not the crew's fault who did an amazing job at making it canon (btw remember that post i made like 'uuuh i hope Huntlow will stay open for interpretation blabla'?? yeah fuck that, it was stupid)
second of all, i've seen complaints about how they didn't get as much screentime as Lumity, and that's dumb for 2 reasons. not only did Hunter meet Willow during season 2B (you know, when the show suddenly got shortened) and Lumity had time to develop throughout season 1 and season 2A, but Luz is the main character. like it or not, it makes sense for her romance to be more developed and have more screentime than Willow's
you can dislike Huntlow ofc, but at least be coherent, or just be honest and say you just don't seen them together/prefer different dynamics for them
sorry for the sudden rant lol but i get your grips bestie </3

i rewatched the owl house; here's why hunter is my top kin
so like... as a preface to this entire thing, hunter was my top kin when i first watched the series back in 2022, and upon rewatch, he was one of two members of my kinlist who wasn't booted. what i was curious of though, beyond remembering that the show not only existed, is why exactly i connected with the character of hunter so much back then.
did i find the answer? absolutely. like a little unnervingly, yes.
warning: spoilers for like... the entire plot of hunter in s2 and s3 but it's just off the top of my head. i'm fucking yapping. this is just very disorganized and me talking about a character im incredibly passionate about.
part i; first impressions of hunter
hunter is first teased at the end of season one in a small still frame where he is next to belos. he isn't really discussed as a character at this point, but he will be very soon.
we first properly meet him, name and all, in s2e1, separate tides, where he is on one of the emperor's ships, and as he is his nephew, it makes sense, but is still generally off-putting for the crew. he follows luz and eda to the island where the selkidomus is residing with its' baby. hunter is threatening king as well as attempting to intimidate eda and luz into killing the creature. they don't get the prize from the mission but don't die and get king back before hunter flies off.
we don't see much more of him besides for comments from other members of the emperor's coven describing him as annoying. we get another good amount of character from him just a few episodes later.
part ii; understunding hunter
hunter is next given a larger appearance in s2e6, hunting palisman. hunter is trying to do his uncle the favor of getting more palisman for him, seeing as they help keep his wild magic curse under control. this is where we start to learn more about hunter as a person.
he runs to steal palisman from hexside and the bat queen, but his plan is foiled by luz, who had fallen asleep among the palisman while trying to connect with one. they both crash from the airship due to interference from kikimora and the two are forced to have a temporary truce. we see hunter's face here, a tired, scrawny young guy with a scar on his face from an unknown incident.
he's interested in wild magic, reserved, and hesitant to open up to luz as she pressures him to talk to her. he even refuses to say his name until they're about to depart.
we see hunter next in s2e9, eclipse lake, where he is in pursuit of titan's blood to help belos create a portal door to the human realm. he forms an uneasy alliance with amity, eda and king this time, as luz is at the owl house with willow and gus with a witch's cold.
he is combative and fearful in this episode, going out on a mission in secret away from belos to try and redeem himself in the eyes of his uncle. he doesn't prove his worth in the way he initially desired to, which was to bring back more blood, but instead, he brought back the key to activate the door, which is hardly enough to pacify belos.
during the time he's with amity in the lake, the two fight, but beyond that, they also relate to each other, seeing that they both refuse to fail those they love, even if it is within two entirely different contexts. amity is afraid of failing luz, an idea that hunter seemingly instills in her head as a projection of his own fear and knowledge that he is failing belos.
the next stop of major hunter moments is s2e14, any sport in a storm. hunter is trying to repair the golden guard cape and is put in charge of the covenhead meeting. he tries to prove himself to darius, who was close to his predecessor. darius tells him to find more recruits to prove himself, and he does within the hexside flyer derby team.
he goes undercover as caleb jasper bloodwilliams and begins playing flyer derby with viney, willow, gus and skara. he names the team before revealing that he's the golden guard and he was hoping to recruit them into the emperor's coven, which they're disturbed by.
they're locked up where they each yell at hunter, with gus stating friend's don't stab each other in the back. hunter dejects by saying that they do, and he would know because the covenheads do it all the time to each other.
eventually they're let out to be picked up by darius, but hunter says to let them go, calling them insolent agitators. darius is proud hunter let them go and gives him back the golden guard cape and a scroll so hunter may contact people outside of the castle.
part iii; hollow mind and its' consequences
the biggest episode for hunter within season two is s2e16, hollow mind. hunter and luz are sent to belos' mind, something neither is exactly happy about. eda learns that they're in there through a walky-talky that king has. they work on freeing luz and hunter from belos' mind while the two explore inside.
hunter tries to run through his mind, proving that belos is, in fact, not evil, something which luz knows is incorrect. they hop from belos' fake mindscape to his real one, seeing the past golden guards and learning the true intentions of belos, the truth about the golden guard position in general, and the biggest part of it all; hunter is a clone of belos' brother.
when they emerge from belos' mind, hunter is rightfully panicked. he throws the golden guard cape onto the ground as if it were suffocating him and runs away from the owl house, hiding out at hexside, too afraid to return to the castle. he then returns in labyrinth runners and helps protect hunter, willow, and hexside as a whole from the emperor's coven as well as spill the beans about the true intentions of the day of unity.
when it comes to hunter's character, s2 is generally out of relevant moments for him as a person beyond acting as an escort, pretending to be a guard/luz, and arguing with alador. he once again returns to high relevancy in s3.
part iv; what did they do to my boy D:
within the three episodes of s3, he finds ground in all of them. due to the length of each episode, they will be given lengthy discussion for hunter as a character.
starting with s3e1, thanks to them, we pick up right where season two ended; the gang in the human world meeting camila. he is hiding the fact he is a grimwalker and resides temporarily in the basement with gus. the hexside gang all begin conspiring a way to get back to the boiling isles as seen within a montage.
hunter's highlight within the montage is being in the bathroom at night. he closes a cabinet with a mirror on it, and within his reflection, he sees caleb and belos, immediately causing him to panic and cut his hair. willow helps him with it, waking up and seeing his hair on the floor.
as the episode progresses, hunter and the rest of the gang prepare ideas on how to return to the demon realm after finding the rebus to take them to some titans blood. the gang prepares to go and find solutions while hunter hangs behind and finds that belos somehow managed to follow them back into the human realm, although him and the other witches are unaware that belos rode on his shoulder through the portal.
hunter and luz make the effort to confront belos, but hunter finds it much harder than when he was the golden guard due to not having a mask to protect himself and hide behind. two costume masks blow their way, and after masking up, hunter is far more confident like the early season one hunter. they find an opossum instead of belos, and he expresses wanting to keep the others safe. luz promises to keep him safe as well, causing him to cry. unknown to them, belos has begun to dig his roots into hunter.
i skipped it earlier, but gus specifically notes that hunter seems happier now than he was in the boiling isles, and asks hunter about his time as the golden guard. he fidgets while answering the question.
during the halloween event within town, the gang goes on a hayride and hears the story of phillip and caleb, now belos and hunter back when they were in the human realm. hunter confesses that they have clues for titan's blood and that he is confident that belos is nearby. he orders flapjack to grab the rebus, but the bird refuses at first before being scolded. luz reprimands hunter for yelling at flapjack, who apologizes. he's confused about why he did it as well, but the audience knows it was belos.
flapjack grabs the rebus and hunter and luz set off to find the titan blood, where belos fully reveals he has possessed hunter. belos, taking the body of hunter, begins to fight luz, and then the gang as a whole before flapjack makes an attempt to stop him. belos grabs flapjack and pierces him, causing the bird to retreat to luz. this manages to let hunter somewhat take control of himself and try to end belos and himself once and for all, throwing the titan blood into the lake. belos follows him but also can't swim, causing the two to almost drown.
hunter is pulled from the water by camila, belos exits his body, reopens the portal, and enters it, hunter still unconcious and far more scarred than he was previously. the areas in which belos was most visible on hunter seemed to have rotted away and caused a permanent consequence. the gang learns that hunter is a grimwalker before flapjack lays on hunter's lap before sacrificing himself to revive hunter.
they return to the boiling isles, with hunter stating it's time for flapjack to go home.
in s2e2, for the future, hunter is agitated and mourning the loss of flapjack. he's far more closed off within this episode, not saying too much. he paces outside of the owl house where everyone else is inside, preparing their next move. hunter sees king fly overhead and the gang heads to bonesborough, where hunter warns the gang of the collector coming their way.
skipping ahead to hexside, hunter is given a photo by willow of him and flapjack ready for flyer derby. he shuts down a little before willow gets upset, thinking she made something worse and runs off. gus and hunter follow, not before gus confirms he knew hunter was a grimwalker, and the three are trapped together trying to get willow out of her head. he learns then he has officially gotten magic from flapjack reviving him, now having the powers flapjack did. he also gets to confess he genuinely cares for willow, which helps snap her out of her being upset. things don't really pick up for him after this beyond luz being confused he can teleport and willow thanking him for what he said to her.
in the finale, watching and dreaming, he has even less to do with words. his largest moment is frustratedly expressing his "grief" over flapjack and envy of luz for having a palisman. this is not him however, this is the collector trying to warp luz's perception of hunter to make her believe he hates her. she is eventually able to speak to the real hunter, who tells her how to get out of her nightmare using a light glyph.
for almost the entire rest of the episode, hunter is absent. he's a puppet for the collector and helps with freeing the other puppets but generally says nothing else.
we do know however he has a happy future.
hunter, a few years into the future, is carving palismen with eda's father, dell, and seems to be in a relationship with willow. he also now has a new palisman, a blue jay named waffle. he has a tattoo for flapjack where his coven sigil used to be, and it's matching with the rest of the hexside gang also all having tattoos of flapjack.
part v; how i relate to this bisexual twerp
if you're somehow still reading this, i have to applaud you. you're cool. and probably cori. lol. love you cori <3
anyway;
hunter's story is one of growth from a time in which you are put into a position of harshities and struggles. hunter is forced to age far quicker than anyone else within his age range. he feels isolated from those around him because he is isolated from those around him. he initially lacks the confidence to ever fully believe he'd ever make friends, be a witch, have success or survive on the isles because he is told that by someone he trusts and he is working with. he believes the mouth who tells him of what he is worth, and he has to learn on his own accord what he truly needs and believes in life.
he has to make his way through social situations not knowing truly how people his age are. he feels so disconnected yet so close to the people around him because he genuinely wants that connection but isn't sure how to cross that bridge himself. his closest bond and friend is not a person like him, but a pet that found him before he found it.
he is so relatable to me because of my struggles i've always had to make friends. i can make them, but i always had issues with making them want to stay. i knew that i could, but then i would just no longer be myself. i feel often that i come off as callous, something i know is sometimes with intention, but i want to be understood. i want those connections, and though i don't always deserve the forgiveness i am granted, i want to be there to extend the branch of forgiveness. i want to be close to others. i hate having to face the issues alone. i cannot be perceived while being brave, for then the fear i have from knowing i cannot fully connect with others fully wraps its arms around me.
i desire, crave, and practically beg to be happy and fufilled within myself, my life, and my relationships, but none of those are consistent. i cannot confidently face the world and be perceived, for if i am to be seen, i am to be weakened. with a covered face, i become unstoppable. the mask needed to survive is the only way i can be within social situations without the ill feeling that i will fail.
despite that, i have recovered from hurdles. loss upon loss, change after change, i have learned, i have grown, and i have changed. i have survived my worst moments and have become a better person. from harsh and pointed like stones to reserved and calm, although i have given opening to feelings of self doubt, i have grown. i can be nice and understanding. the first plants of friendship.
we're all human. and the humanistic desire for connection is hard, especially when you aren't sure on connecting, when you aren't sure you can trust. you can. but it takes time. and it takes effort. and it takes care. and it takes respect. it takes humanity. and it's hard, but it can be done.
it really solidifies for me how much i genuinely relate to hunter. struggling to be close to others has always been hard, and though i'm not perfect, i'm learning these connections as i grow. the need to hide is forever a setback, but i am growing. the ability to heal from loss and hardship is one of the most important skills to learn, and coping has been a massive boost to my esteem.
tl;dr: he's literally me

Why Willow's Plotline in For the Future Is Actually Awful
So this isn't actually going to be an analysis of her character. I will not be arguing about it being too late to cover this sort of topic or how well the rest of the series builds it up. I am simply going to talk about it, from the perspective of just this episode, telling what is actually a pretty bog standard trope. After all, "Reliable Willow" is only a nickname we get now and is exactly the sort of line that signals to an audience that a writer is doing a plotline about the responsible one being overly taxed and needing her cares needed to be tended to.
The fact that the show is doing this trope is not a bad thing. It's nothing new and the message is good as it reminds people that even the strongest amongst them needs to be checked on every now and then. That's usually why the episode is usually comedically overcharged about EVERY issue characters have had recently being pushed onto the one character until at the end they snap and force everyone to deal with their own shit because they can't.
So, how long does it take for a character to NOT put their problems onto Willow after she is put on screen for the first time in the episode?
Well, if you want to go with the first sign of passive aggressive discomfort a character feels, it's literally 25 seconds later when Hunter speaks for the first time, obviously annoyed and upset. I'm not going to use it here but I need to bring it up for a later point. Instead, it's with Luz's talk with her mom... Two minutes and thirty seconds into the episode. They break the format of this trope THAT quickly.
Well that's okay! After all, not literally every character can bother Willow. That sort of repetition can get annoying with episodes like these. How about how many times people come to Willow with help for their problems?
Once. In the entire episode. Only Camila does it. You might think it follows the rule of threes because of her helping Gus when he looks discouraged and her later helping Hunter... But we'll get back to those.
So that's two strikes on telling this trope coherently and building on the pressure and expectations that others are putting upon her, that she doesn't want. At bare minimum, they didn't fuck up the ending, right? No one asks her how she's doing before the end, signifying that they care about her and see her as more than the group therapist, right?
YEAH, that's five minutes and forty five seconds after Willow gets on screen and while the episode has FORTY MINUTES left of screentime.
This is a level of misusing your trope that I expect only from fanworks. Moringmark has an amazing example of fucking up a basic trope in the Viney/Skara fight in A Hint of Blue Part 1 where Skara throws a bunch of shit, misses, says her witty one liner and then throws a spool of cloth to hook onto Skara's harp, after Skara has entirely settled and already recovered from the previous attack, and yank it away. Instead being a bad ass move, it doesn't any misdirection element like that trope ALWAYS has so instead of looking like clever strategy (for the non-strategist of the two), it just makes Skara look like she zoned out for ten seconds and that Viney was indeed just throwing shit at her. A GOOD use of it would have been to have had the spool amongst the rest and letting us see it grab the harp as a small detail during Skara's dodge, then the one liner while Viney holds up the gauze and then the pull.
My point in going into that is that fucking up a trope like this has unintended consequences. In that one, it made Skara look like an idiot who wasn't paying attention. In this... It makes Willow look like a self-martyr who FORCES other people's problems onto herself and then gets upset when they don't immediately appreciate the effort and who is forcing herself to a level of perfection FAR beyond anything literally anyone is asking her of. And again, that is JUST analyzing this episode. This isn't going into how many times Willow hasn't hidden her emotions or how all she's normally after is just competence or recognition and NEVER perfection. Just by the logic of this episode, Willow is completely the instrument of her own demise, even while it frames it as being strong because others need her to be strong.
The most damning element is of course the lack of people coming to her. When she cheers Gus up and literally says "My work here is done" right at the beginning, it's just because Gus pouts a little because Hunter is stressed out. Honestly, it comes across less as helping with his emotions and problems and more as making him just ignore them which is not good since she doesn't actually ask what his issue is. She just assumes a nice rallying speech is all he needs and he'll be a-okay.
Then we get Hunter's scene which is SO MUCH WORSE. Without any prodding, despite the fact that Hunter should absolutely be grieving right now and is handling it his own way and should be given time to do so, she grabs a picture of him and Flapjack happy together, something he doesn't need right now when he is rightfully strung out about needing to catch Belos, and shows it to him. Her emotional intuition is correctly WILDLY off the mark and she suddenly forces this other boy to HAVE to acknowledge the fact that he's in agony without any plan for what to do after. I'm for guys feeling their emotions but you still need to let people process them and to open up as they need to. Instead, good intentions or not, Willow decides that just because Hunter isn't opening up to her but obviously in pain (WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU FOR LUZ THE PAST THREE MONTHS!?), she forces herself onto his pain and barely actually thinks about what to do with it. Only a few nice words because that will make her reliable Willow and get her another gold star for empathy!
And when it doesn't, when he needs MORE support than just that... She fucks off and leaves him to his mental breakdown. Good job, RELIABLE Willow!
(Side note, the moment when Hunter's act drops and he has to confront the death of his best friend is my favorite Hunter moment PERIOD. It plays into the idea that we probably almost never get to actually see the real Hunter due to many layers he puts between himself and others and how being a soldier also comforted him which is why it's what he goes to when he's so beyond a pain he can even comprehend. And then it immediately swaps to Willow's pain because fuck the actually interesting, built up story beat that was RIGHT THERE.)
And this reaction is BAD in the context of the rest of the episode. She has rejected help, so now her actions are only her fault. She has forced herself upon someone else without them saying anything to her and her first reaction to failure... Is to run away from the person who she JUST HURT. Honestly, if this were about a character who was emotionally manipulative, used platitudes to gain clout and appear to be good to everyone learning that some things need actual care, this would be a great twist on a common episode trope. That's not where this goes but it would have been a neat twist.
Also, I suppose I should acknowledge the story of Gus running away which is cute... But not current pressure on Willow. Hell, usually this tropes demands that the party therapist is kind enough to help everyone but isn't actually happy about the role, especially when they're in pain. They do it because it's right, no other reason. Willow on the other hand... Revels and celebrates the role. Constantly. Which implies she likes doing this and likes the attention and adulation it brings her.
So finally we get to the last scene actually about this trope when she has her breakdown and is being a complete perfectionist. By the logic of this episode, the perfectionist thing is ham fisted but fine but it still leans into the self martyr angle. She cannot falter. She HAS to be better than everyone else. To never fail so her accomplishments seem all the greater. That actually is another episode trope for a lot of things, usually including the person working themselves close to death and that causing everything to fall apart but it's REALLY awkward to mix with emotional support. Helping others with their emotions has no 'perfect' answer. You don't just walk up to a depressed person and expect a few nice words to get the job done. You actually have to listen and be prepared that there may be nothing you can do. A lot of times, the team therapist doesn't even have the answers during episodes like these. They show their care by the fact that unlike everyone else, they listen and don't judge whoever is in need.
But once your goal is to 'fix' the person and be appreciated for it, your hope to actually help people is corrupted. That's why Willow doesn't talk about how she's worried about Hunter too but he'll be okay when comforting Gus. That would be real emotional intelligence, reading the room and responding to why Gus is upset. Instead, she says what she should say to Hunter to Gus. A reaffirmation that they're all invested in this and that they CAN beat Belos. That's HUNTER'S concern. Yes, it's to give himself something to focus on besides Flapjack but it is also a VERY real fear for him and understandably so. He probably won't be ready to deal with Flapjack's death until he knows Belos at least isn't able to harm anyone else he cares about. Then with Camila, she rejects the help because she likes the feeling her title gives her too much. Not because anyone has actually forced her not to say anything or ignored her, Gus himself helped Willow feel better with illusions with the red grass stunt when he noticed she could probably use a pick me up since she was sad until seeing the grass, but because she likes the attention.
But then the attention got bad and she said fuck this which *glares at Luz* isn't the first time the show has written someone THIS SEASON like this. And so when her scene at the end comes up of people telling her it's okay to cry... I just don't feel anything about it. I am not going to sympathize with an egotist who finally realized other people's emotions are more complex and maybe she shouldn't try to force her solutions upon them. I'm sorry if that's strange on my part.
And again, this is just based on the episode. Stuff she's done before actually doesn't help her. She has ignored help in the past when given for NO REASON and also ignored others feelings when they didn't accept her kind words. I'll try to keep this brief but she has no reason not to admit she's still angry about Amity to Luz. Literally most of their relationship is built on Willow's anger towards Amity and Luz helping with that. This isn't new and you have no reason to hide your feelings from your friend besides claimed moral superiority like she does in the episode. Then in Sport in a Storm, when her trying to tell Hunter that her being a late bloomer is totally a reason not to judge a book by its cover, a stupid argument to begin with for the problem at hand, she just straight up kidnaps him and FORCES him to see her perspective. We don't even know how long he was underground for because we saw later that season that people who get sent into the ground can just take an hour to dig themselves out despite, you know, oxygen, and she did need to get everyone over there to explain why they're actually super awesome, please believe us, so some amount of time passed.
And all of this is the emotional core for For the Future. Luz has only THREE moments angsting about her issues, one of which comes like twenty to thirty minutes after the second one, and otherwise acts entirely unbothered by anything, almost like she's back to being her season one self, and there isn't really an emotional core otherwise. And yet, despite the fact that they were using a bog standard trope, the writers still fucked it up. I don't even care about why in this situation, there's plenty of explanations you could come up with but none of them look good on the writer's parts but you absolutely can't blame the shortening. This is a self contained story that doesn't even have to be a character climax, even if it was here technically. Willow's plot in this could have easily been the 15 minute A plot, or hell, a seven minute B plot since that's probably the amount of time it took to happen, in a 22 minute episode for a full season 3 and it would still have been GOD AWFUL.
And this was honestly shocking to me. For the Future had always been described to me as just the unoffensive filler episode of S3. It is so much worse than I had been led to believe though. It's probably the worst full episode, from just an objective writing standpoint, of the series. It's just incompetent. If me showing how they fuck up basic tropes isn't enough to prove that, there's PLENTY else wrong about this episode. I would rank Yesterday's Lie and Reaching Out as worse personally because they ruin more crucial elements of the show but like... *sigh*
Willow's plot here is just a bad part of an already bad episode.
======+++++======
Fun fact: I got a literal headache and at one point got upset enough to have tears at the edges of my eyes, which really shows I do still care about this series. It hurt so much because I just couldn't fathom how this was the same writing team who made a cast of characters I had once so deeply loved that I wrote half a million words for them in six months. Fuck this episode.

chapter 4 mirror dungeon major spoilers!!!
liveblogging one of the final stages of the 3rd floor. kind of. im just editing this post endlessly
pre-battle story:
DONGRANGS GONNA FUCKING DISTORT I CAN SEE IT FROM A MILE AWAY.
the lines about how hes changed and empty husks just set off so many warning signs with how negative he was being. AND NOW THE NAME AND SCENERY CHANGE?
"DONGRANG, WHO DENIES ALL" NOOOO!!! NO!!!!! DONGRANG!!!!!!!! DONGRAAAAAANG!! AAAGH <- excited but also. we're in for a fucking beating, mental and physical
"who is... mr. dongrang talking to?" AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH I KNEW IT
DON KNOWS?!
"might not be a terminus, but rather step in the process." will this be like xiao - partial distortion, then gaining ego..? im not super confident in the possibility since dongrangs actually done shitty stuff and knows it, he's seen how he's lost compassion.
"i guess it wasnt just my work that burned in the concept incinerator that day. my mind's garden i'd been tending to also burned with it." the personality and kindess he had developed burned away that day. dongbaek also told him that if his technology wasn't changing the world, it wasn't worth putting effort into.
god im so. augh. im anticipating this so so much
it just. ended after faust's dialogue??? theres. a fucking 7 sinner battle up ahead what. huh. GUYS THE STORY YOU FORGOT THE STORY...
battle:
OHHHHHH he distorted offscreen. okay so. im in danger! but this design goes hard as fuck, as well as the music
design stuff: he's 100% the grown-up calf he nurtured. he mentioned it as well, saying it wouldn't recognize him. maybe that's why the face is covered? i also like the vines and such, and how. sad that calf half looks. it really does look old and abandoned.
idk much yet about the rest of the design, but i like the use of yellow, bc a) calf's fur, b) the symbolism of it (reminds me of happiness and childishness). though i wonder if he's 100% calf/cow, or a centaur instead? his hands have become viney and there's leaves around where totally covered head is, but he has ears as well (or horns?). also i just fucking noticed his shirt looks like dongbaeks in her spicebush ego......
phase 2:
HE FUCKING OpENED???? OKAY THEN (ignore the fucking. p my key is broken)
time to look at the design then :3
so the inside of the head is hollow and rimmed with teeth. maybe the horns are teeth too? there's some eyes and flesh inside, kinda reminds me of nothing there..... the bell inside is. ringing some bells in my memory. but i cant recall what </3 also his body just looks like. Muscle. and the open eye..... ough this design is just so. monstrous and interesting. and the trees having the trophies as fruits of vanity!!!!! thats so fucking cool
phase 3:
he shrivelled up..... ough
not sure what the resentful trees are. maybe the trophies got wrapped up in something? it looks kinda like spider silk?
dongrang is just. slowly being destroyed now. theres no remnants of humanity, he isnt even humanoid now.
used branch of knowledge on a resentful tree lmao
aaaand shi ishmael took him down. ggs!
post-battle story:
the game froze
