⌜╳ ┊ TASK 004  — FAMILY !
camden’s family consists primarily of his mother. he grew up in a single parent household, and she’s who he considers his family. he grew up watching her work hard and kick ass to provide for him and he just really admires her for it, so he has a super great relationship with his mom. they definitely have a very loving, playful dynamic but camden would truly do anything for his mom. she’s his rock, and he would really go to the ends of the earth for her. they’re extremely close, and it’s just a very loving, trusting bond. she raised him on her own, and he truly owes everything he’s accomplished in life to her and her alone. in return, she’s so proud of him for going to school and accomplishing his dreams, but camden is honestly just excited for the chance to finally get to treat his mom to a better life so she can start taking care of herself for once.

.:。✧*゚「 VILLAS TASK 004.  — MEET THE FAMILY ! 」
kaia’s family isn’t something that’s discussed a lot so this was a fun task for exploring that & gave me the chance to actually set a more descriptive background for her family (since i literally.. never set a background for kaia’s family it was all very vague bc muse e was an unstable muse for a while & i didn’t wanna set anything in stone just for plotting purposes hahaha) ! so yeah the reason why it took me so long to do this task was bc i was stuck & i didn’t know what to do & write since i only had a very broad & general idea of what her family is like. the lims aren’t a particularly happy family, but they’re not a completely tragic one either ? like all families they’ve definitely got their ups & downs but don’t worry this isn’t emo ! it’s just long so i’m rlly sorry in advance if u do decide that u wanna read through all of this ! also before u read, click here for a fun video on the byun-lim sibling dynamic !
✧ jaeun park-byun ( 45 ) - mother
from a young age, jaeun had always been an ambitious person with big goals and dreams for the future. she was the valedictorian of her class, and practically involved in almost every club when she was in high school. being a very pristine and organized person, she basically had her entire life mapped out and expected nothing short of the future and life she envisioned for herself. however, discovering that she was pregnant with kaia at the age of 24 was something she did not foresee, and completely took these plans of hers off the rails. instead of preparing to take her picture for top 100 successful women in america like she wished to one day, she was instead buying baby clothes and busy building a nursery. although being pregnant was a box that was never on her to-do list, she and minhyun welcomed kaia happily into the world with open arms nonetheless. instead of making plans for herself, she started to imagine and plan out a future for her newborn daughter. for the first few years of kaia’s life, they were a happily family. jaeun was a good mother, despite being so controlling over kaia’s life at times. due to how kaia was her first and only child, jaeun focused all of her attention on kaia and started attempting to train her as a mini jaeun. she signed kaia up for things such as ballroom dancing, piano lessons, swimming, and practically almost anything she believed would turn kaia into a well-rounded, obedient kid and would look fitting on her resume. but kaia was almost the completely opposite of jaeun—even as a kid, it was like trying to put a tutu on a dog and trying to get it to dance ballet. naturally, their relationship would consist a lot of a mini kaia arguing with her mom because of this and refusing to follow the expectations her mom wanted. whenever jaeun told kaia she couldn’t have or do something, kaia did it anyways and would always manage to find a way to get to it without jaeun’s help. due to this, most of these lessons and activities never lasted more than a few years. despite how often jaeun would try to helicopter kaia’s life, there were memories and moments that kept their relationship warm and loving at times, such as when the two would go out for ice cream after her swim meets. around the time kaia was in middle school, jaeun and minhyun’s relationship started to fall apart. they were never a perfect match, but over the years this flaw slowly became more evident as their chemistry diminished and their sparks died out. they had been best friends turned lovers, which was why kaia was so infatuated with their relationship and the idea of love. however, with the arguments that just built up over the next few years and how distant the two parents had become with each other—kaia wasn’t necessarily surprised when they sat her down one day and told her that they were divorcing. kaia was actually relieved in a way, but it still didn’t hurt any less to know that the same two people she had looked up to for so long were divorcing.
after the divorce, it was like every flaw and negative characteristic of jaeun had intensified and kicked up a notch. although she was always a helicopter mom, it was almost like all of the warmth and good parts of their relationship had disappeared after she re-married. with her new marriage into a financially more well-off family, she started to care much more about her as well as her family’s own image. because of their new wealthy business family, jaeun wanted kaia to became a daughter she could be proud of—a daughter she could present to young heirs from other families and marry off. while she wanted kaia to wear expensive gucci skirts and button-ups, kaia always opted for ripped jeans and a graphic tee. jaeun would try ten times harder to change kaia and get her to be exactly the way she wanted her—the perfect, intelligent, clean-cut, debutante princess. and as a result of this, kaia only pushed her mom further away and only became angrier at her. she slowly started to give up on maintaining the relationship she once had with her mom, since it seemed like all her mom cared about now was money and the image of a perfect, upper-class family. kaia hated how jaeun had taken a full 180 and how meanwhile she continued to act nice and an actual mom to her new step-kids, she continued to treat kaia more like a pet or a business associate rather than an actual daughter. her rocky relationship with her mom caused kaia to act out in numerous ways for many years from high school to college. after graduating from high school and getting the opportunity to move away and start a new life at penn state, she cut off her relationship with her mom and also gave up the money her mom would send her as a result, not wanting to owe anything to her mom or give jaeun something else to hold over her head. now, kaia only ever really talks to jaeun or meets up with her during the holidays, like christmas and thanksgiving due to how she continues to ignore her mom’s many attempts of contact.
✧ minhyun lim ( 46 ) - father
between jaeun and minhyun, kaia was always closer to minhyun. he was the nicer and more understanding one of the two, and from a young age she had always been daddy’s little girl. because it was jaeun who wore the pants of the relationship, minhyun always followed under her lead. despite this, he was able to show his support for kaia through the little things. when jaeun put the cookie jar away up in a high cabinet and locked it, it was minhyun who would intentionally leave the key out for kaia to find and grab with her small chubby little hands. he would watch quietly with a chuckle as she grabbed chairs for herself and climbed onto the counter to unlock the cabinet and eat all of the cookies, even when her mom told her not to and clearly scolded her many times. when little kaia would get in trouble for drawing on the walls constantly, it was minhyun who decided to paint one wall of her room with chalkboard paint to allow her to draw and scribble on the wall to her heart’s content, despite jaeun complaining about how the one black wall completely ruined the interior of the house. on the contrary of what most people would think, jaeun and minhyun were a very good match in the beginning—she was uptight and criticized about many things, but he balanced that out with his laidbackness and rationality. with the birth of kaia, it only strengthened their relationship and made them even happier. although most of her time as a kid was spent with jaeun, due to how the woman constantly took control of her life and focused solely on her, kaia still spent a good amount of time with minhyun as well. while jaeun was the one who would upset little kaia and would get into arguments with her over the smallest things, it was minhyun who would break up the argument as if he was the only parent and both of them were children. as a kid, jaeun was the villain but kaia always saw minhyun as her hero who always knew how to make her feel better. one of the hardest parts of the divorce for kaia was knowing that she wouldn’t be able to see her dad as much and having to wonder how their life would be without him in it everyday. after the divorce, minhyun was the first to remarry between the two parents and eventually found someone else. their new family consists of a step-daughter (ava) who is now 14, and an 8 year old son (lucas) that he had with his new wife. although it was a bit awkward in the beginning, kaia started to warm up to his new family and the new life he had embraced. she doesn’t get to see minhyun as much as she would like, but she continues to visit him during holidays such as thanksgiving and christmas as well. due to how she is not as close to jaeun and has cut off any relationship with her mom, kaia wants to reach out to minhyun and try to spend more time with him but feels as if she’ll be intruding his new life and his newfound happiness. so for now, she doesn’t want to change things and thinks it’ll be better to leave things as they are and only see him a couple times a year.
✧ dohyun byun ( 50 ) - step-father
kaia’s relationship with dohyun isn’t very complicated. she doesn’t like him, but she doesn’t hate or have as strong grudge against him. if it hadn’t been for the fact that dohyun’s previous marriage ended due to his infidelity, kaia wouldn’t be as harsh on him but this fact makes it hard for her to completely trust him. she believes that if he cheated once before, the chances of this new marriage crumbling because of the same mistake he might commit are very high. she doesn’t necessarily interact with him much and likes to mind her own business and avoid any one-on-one conversations with him due to how awkward they usually are. whenever they do talk, it’s just small-talk that dohyun tries to make in an attempt to get closer to his step-daughter but she refuses to get close to him or really open up to him. their relationship is strained, but kaia no longer purposely ignores him like she had in the beginning. similar to how he spoils katrine, he attempts to do the same for kaia but she just brushes off his efforts. although it is jaeun who puts all of the pressure on kaia to get married off to some rich heir and to be a presentable daughter, she feels like some of that pressure to be a perfect and clean-cut daughter comes from dohyun as well.
✧ katrine byun ( 17 ) - step-sister
kaia sees katrine as one of the only good things to have come out of her mother’s new marriage. although her relationship with nathan isn’t particularly great, her relationship with katrine is. the two are very similar in personalities and upon first meeting each other, they automatically clicked. because kaia was an only child, she had always wanted a sister to talk to or do things with so when katrine came into her life, it was like fate. together the two are a troublesome duo, and as a result of their names they call themselves the “2k.” with katrine around, kaia feels less lonely and is a lot more okay with her mom’s remarriage as a result. although adjusting initially was hard, having katrine as a step-sister definitely made things a lot easier for her. because of katrine’s fallen relationship with nathan and kaia’s similar situation, the two pull pranks on nathan all the time and never allows him rest. because kaia and nathan went to high school together as well, whenever she came home from school she would just gossip with katrine and spill all of the tea on him, talking about things like how he got yelled at by the teachers at school again that day or ended up in the assistant principal’s office. because katrine is only a few years younger than kaia, she would give katrine advice (usually bad) and the two would spend so much time together talking about everything in their room. after kaia started college at penn state, katrine and kaia definitely didn’t get to see each other as much but the two continues to keep in touch often through texts and video calls. when they reunite every year during the holidays, it’s usually very chaotic but always a fun time for the both of them.
✧ nathan byun ( 22 ) - step-brother
these two really don’t ever get along and to the public eye, may seem like they absolutely hate each other. however, this isn’t the complete truth. although kaia and nathan do have their fair share of arguments, which usually consist of them making fun of each other (like kaia does with his big ears) or making threats to expose the other’s love life to the family, kaia deep down does care more about her step-brother than she’d care to admit. the beginning stages and first few years after the remarriage were a struggle and rough since the two wanted nothing to do with each other and their new families. they would have to deal with seeing each other everyday, both at home and at school. as much as they would try to avoid the other during school, they eventually winded up meeting in detention anyways. this would result in the supervisor having to separate the two because they would always end up in an argument, probably isolating kaia to the corner of a room and the two teaming up just to try and scheme their way out of detention together. it’s no surprise that these two are nosy and would always try to get the dirt on one another, no matter what it took. however, once the two started college together and started living in the comfort of their own residency—kaia didn’t get to see nathan around as much. she would only see him a couple of times on campus every now and then, and when she would, she would usually follow him quietly just to try and see what he’s been up to as well as get some dirt on him to spill to katrine later that day. she went through many lengths to keep an eye on him since she could no longer do it the way she did back in high school, even going as far as stealing a mascot costume and dressing up just to get close to him during one of his games. so although they don’t get along much, they’re a lot more similar in more ways than one than they’ll ever realize.
✧ teagan rosales ( 21 ) - soul sister
teagan is kaia’s rock and has been the only constant in her life since they first met in the second grade. with both of them being a little wild and crazy, they compliment each other well and it’s no surprise that their friendship has been strong for this long. before the divorce, kaia was an only child but she never completely felt like one due to how teagan was always attached to her hip. the two were completely inseparable, and as they grew closer it was as if teagan’s family had become kaia’s as well. she grew close to not only teagan but her siblings and growing up, it helped to have someone such as teagan to help bring the adventure and fun to her life when her mom wanted nothing but order and class. teagan was like the sister kaia had and around her, kaia felt like she could truly be accepted as herself and not wanted to change into anything or anyone else. she would spend countless sleepovers at teagan’s house during the years of the divorce, when things were falling apart between her two parents and she didn’t want to deal with the drama of it all. they were in middle school at the time, but kaia would never ask her parents for permission and would just sneak out in the middle of the night to go to teagan’s house and spend the night there. her mom would wake up confused and panicked for the first few times, naturally scolding kaia every time she did it but afterwards, jaeun no longer became surprised at the sight of an empty bed and calling teagan’s mom to discover that kaia had spent yet another night there. they carpooled often together during high school and even got their first tattoos together once teagan had turned 18, with a sun tattoo on kaia’s ankle and a matching moon one on teagan’s. the two have been through almost everything together, they’ve seen each other at their worst and have been there for each other through the worst as well. although there was a time during college where kaia felt as if they were getting more distant and weren’t as close as they used to be, their bond remains unbroken and teagan continues to be her one and only soul sister till this day.

✧  ─ MEET GRAHAM’S FAMILY
the choi’s are a long line of proud lawyers, doctors, politicians, teachers and officers but specifically, he comes from a family of doctors and nurses. his family are one big support system for him. his family is as close as they can all be, although graham’s never hid anything from them and vice versa; they’re as honest as they can be with each other and are each others emotional support. the choi’s always make sure to spend as much time together as they can and he’s been grateful for that since he was a child, they would plan trips to a different country every summer and his favorite places to visit have been paris and tokyo. he’s the baby of his entire line of family, as most of his cousins are older and married so he’s been coddled and looked after for so long. but his family doesn’t stop at his immediate family as there are two other additions that he can’t imagine his life without, along with the pythons. graham’s a big family person, it matters so much to him that he’d hate for anything to happen or be torn away from him - he acts like he hates being treated as the baby but in his nature, he can’t help but be the baby. if anyone, from both families, were to leave or disappear - you can imagine how upset he’d be. family’s important to him.
JAECHAN CHOI ( FATHER ):
graham looks up to his father more than anyone in the family. his father’s a pediatrician and owns his own practice alongside his wife, mina. graham admires his father for his work ethic as it wasn’t easy for him to transition from korea to america once graduating in his studies. his father has worked hard his entire life to work for his own practice and ensure a happy life for his family; ranging from giving them the best education, life experiences, a good home, anything - he wants his family to experience it all. graham’s dad is his best friend and he goes to him for help on anything and guidance about his life. for as long as he remembered, he wanted to be a doctor like his dad because seeing what he loves to do inspired the boy that much but things change. his father is his biggest inspiration, from nights where they would try to out shine each other on who knows more to nights where his dad would share intimate moments with him about his past - he feels immense love and pride for his father.
MINA CHOI nee GANG ( MOTHER ):
just like his dad, he has a good relationship with his mother. his bother has been the back bone of his entire life. to the days he would be up studying, to the days he was left stressing and on the verge of his panic attacks, his mother was always there to distract him. his mother is one of the kindest souls and he would always praise her to anyone he talks to and he wishes everyone could have a mother like him. her kind heart and work ethic is one of the best things about her besides being the most beautiful woman in the world. the day he gets his first pay check from being a lawyer, it’s going all to his mother. his mother is also a pediatrician but she was studying to become CSI but after seeing all the bodies, she dropped but luckily for her - her son is interesting in stuff like that. she’s one of his best friends and he loves her to death.
SAMUEL JAMES (SJ) CHOI ( COUSIN )
the only cousins in his line of 10000′s of them that’s actually close to him in age. he’s only a few years older but samuel is like a big brother to graham. sam loves to care and tease graham endlessly and graham’s always wanted a brother from a young age and sam was exactly that. sam, at first, may seem closed off, a little dickish, he really doesn’t care which is true but beyond his walls he’s just a big softie and even a bigger one when it comes to graham. he’s upset that graham went off to hawaii instead of coming to korea with the rest of the family so catch him building hate towards everyone because he’s just ugly like that. sam and graham have been like two peas in a pod since graham could talk and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his cousin even if he’s a little shit sometimes but it’s enough to make him laugh.
NIA HAN nee CHOI ( OLDER SISTER ):
nia’s graham’s entire world. they’ve always maintained a close relationship and she’s done her best to protect graham. every sibling fight and find annoyance in each other but it’s all love in the end right? graham has nothing but praise for his sister who graduated at the top of her class in high school and college, she’s the smartest women he’s ever met and no one can top her. although he finds her annoying 99.5 percent of the time, he loves his sister to death and misses her daily especially since she’s gotten married. she’s the first person to hear about his day and his biggest supporter, he truly loves her. catch him talking about her so much someone will walk away.
BENJAMIN AHN ( “BROTHER” )
well, obviously the best friend he could ever ask for but graham doesn’t see him as just his best friend but he’d formed such a bond that benjamin’s become a brother figure in his life. he can’t pin point when he began to think of him as his family but it just felt natural. he’s the first to hear about what’s bothering him, the first he’d run to when he’s hurt etc. etc. graham’s entire family has fallen in love with benjamin and along with him, they consider him family. benjamin has impacted graham’s life in such a short amount of time that it’s impossible to imagine where he would be without his big brother. although, samuel’s especially jealous of benji as he’s starting to fee l replaced but you know what.. graham just wants him to stop..
NINA JUNG ( constant )
ask graham to call nina his sister and he’d vomit but low key he sees her as his sister. why? he’s grown up with her for such a long time it’s hard to imagine her as someone else. he’s been there when she needed him and she’s been there when he needed her. he’s been to her graduation, he’s watched her go from being awkward to the woman she is today. there are parts of her he’s seen, from the good to the bad and it’s honestly so hard to imagine nina not being in his life. she may believe he hates her but that’s far from it and to her knowledge, he may never wanna see her again but imagining a life without someone who’s seen him look like he crawled out of a grave every day in her life is something he can’t imagine. she’s his sister, even if he won’t admit it so if anyone was to hurt her, he’d run them over. vroom vroom bitch

*:・゚✧ ┈ VILLAS TASK #003 › ‘ A FAMILY ANALYSIS ’
oddly enough, nina rarely allows the conversation to linger upon her family. she’s not one to bring up her family and she’s inclined to switch the topic whenever she finds herself in the situation. nina’s family life is nothing extraordinary - there was nothing particularly great about her childhood, but she knows she’s far better off than a lot of other people. her parents’ divorce was undoubtably the most memorable part of growing up and it’s left quite the sore spot. she’s extremely defensive when it comes to her family life and would rather not tell others about the things that went on at home because she doesn’t want to give them an opportunity to form an opinion about anyone in her family. all that being said, click the read more to learn about nina’s jumbled family !
*:・゚✧ ┈ INTRODUCING JIYOON LACROIX  › ‘ NINA’S MOTHER ’
though far from the worst woman in the world, nina and her mother have a bit of a come-and-go relationship. growing up, nina and her mother got along fairly well and all nina aspired to be was a carbon copy of her mother. her mother was smart, successful, and beautiful - she cared for her children, cared for her husband, and seemed happy so far as nina could tell. her mother had a great group of friends both from work and outside of work, always seeming to balance her personal and work life seamlessly. as far as nina was concerned, her mother truly was a superhero, cape and all. however, like most kids, nina grew up and found herself in her moody and temperamental stage. things were tough at school and nina often took it out on her family at home, isolating herself or snapping whenever things weren’t going her way. she still loved her parents and the things she said/did were never all that bad, but perhaps her growing distance from her mother was what allowed her parents’ divorce to come as such a surprise. nina was too focused on school and being the moody teenager that she was to notice the struggles that her parents were going through. it wasn’t until her parents announced the divorce that nina was aware of their issues. it wasn’t until a few months even later that nina learned the real reason behind their divorce - her mother was having an affair and had decided to leave her dad for her new lover. in short, nina was disgusted. nina confronted her mom about it and she admitted that she had been seeing someone else and that she felt awful about the entire thing. she told nina that she didn’t mean for any of it to happen and she just fell out of love with her dad, but clearly that wasn’t the case. her mother wasted no time flaunting her new relationship and even going so far as to move in with her new boyfriend. she made no attempt to hide her relationship for her children’s sake or even her ex-husband’s sake and it was impossible for nina to look at her mother the same. though nina tries, her mom seems to be completely wrapped up in her new life. even when nina finally came out to her mom, the news was upstaged by her mom’s news of her engagement to thomas, her boyfriend. ever since, their relationship has been extremely strained and nina doesn’t talk to her mom the same way she used to. she’s definitely taken her dad’s side in the divorce and much prefers to spend time with him these days.
*:・゚✧ ┈ INTRODUCING MINHYUK JUNG › ‘ NINA’S FATHER ’
speaking of her father, here’s nina’s dad ! nina’s dad is truly the cutest man in the entire world and he might be nina’s favorite person. like her mother, nina’s dad was quite the guy and always made things look so easy. he was always the happiest person in the room and spent his days chasing nina and her sister around the house or dressing up in princess costumes because the girls begged him to. his family was ( and still is ) the most important thing he has and it showed. he was known for his jokes and the ways in which he would playfully tease his daughters, a trait that made nina extremely close and comfortable with her dad. he was the person that she could tell anything to because she knew he’d never get mad at her or try to punish her, but instead he’d listen and give her advice when she needed it most. he was her support system and her rock, essentially. he taught her everything from how to fish to how to listen to her gut. though nina is far from being a perfect person, all of the positive qualities she has come from her father. that being said, the divorce was especially hard on nina’s dad. being left by the love of his life, nina’s dad found it nearly impossible to hide his heartbreak from his kids. even years later, nina’s dad has yet to date someone new despite watching his ex-wife move on immediately and remarry the man for whom she left him. ( tw: depression ) although never formally diagnosed, nina’s dad has undeniably become depressed. the man who once oozed with a lust for life now spends his days trapped within his own thoughts, unable to bring himself to perform daily tasks most of the time. he’s become numb to the world around him, his daughter’s presences oftentimes being the only thing that puts a smile on his face. nina does her best to remind her dad of the things he loves, to play cards with him after dinner or to bring him out fishing on a beautiful summer day, but there’s only so much the girl can do. despite countless attempts to encourage him to seek help, her dad merely isn’t ready and nina is in no position to push him. it breaks nina’s heart to see her father so different from the man who raised her, but she knows he’s still the same guy beneath it all and he just needs a little more time to heal. nina feels awful about leaving her dad at home while she’s in hawaii, but she makes sure to talk to him as often as she can and she’s already started to plan a visit for him.
*:・゚✧ ┈ INTRODUCING ISABELLA JUNG › ‘ NINA’S SISTER ’
the biggest pain in her ass, but also the love of nina’s life. nina’s little sister is five years younger, making her sixteen at the moment. nina and her sister have always more or less gotten along, the typical sibling fights never turning into anything deeper than than. ever since isa was born, nina has looked at her sister as her baby. even when isa was just a baby, nina would jokingly tell her mother than she was isa’s mother and that isa was her baby, not her mom’s. from sneaking into her room in the middle of the night to shutting her hair in the car door, the two don’t have an extraordinarily unique relationship. they tease each other, they love each other, they’d do anything for each other, and that’s about it. the only thing that truly puts a wedge between them at times is their parental preference. while isa lives with their mother most of the time, nina lives with their father whenever she’s home. isa still loves their dad and comes to stay with them on weekends or on various other occasions, but isa hasn’t cut their mom off in the same way that nina did. things get a little tense and awkward when isa tries to coax nina into spending time with her mom, but after numerous arguments, the two have learned to avoid the topic in order to preserve their own relationship.
*:・゚✧ ┈ INTRODUCING THE LACROIXS › ‘ NINA’S STEP-FAMILY ’
after the divorce, nina’s mom was quick to advance her relationship with her boyfriend. it didn’t take long for her mom and her boyfriend, thomas, to get engaged, and within a year and a half the pair were married. the marriage meant a new step-father, thomas, and two younger step-brothers, carter and jason. while there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with her step-family, nina certainly resents them for reasons tied to the divorce. it’s impossible for her to look at her step-family without being reminded of how her mother broke her father’s heart without a second thought. any and all of the lacroixs’ attempts to grow closer and bond with nina leave a sour taste in her mouth and she thinks its unlikely that she’ll ever truly let the family into her heart. her step-brothers are annoying at best and as far as she’s concerned, she already has a brother.
*:・゚✧ ┈ INTRODUCING GRAHAM CHOI › ‘ NINA’S BROTHER ’
although all of the choi family is practically nina’s extended family, graham has always been especially important to nina. being close in age, the two were destined to grow up together due to their parent’s friendship and nina has spent countless holidays, parties, and events with graham by her side. teasing and arguing have always been a staple of their relationship, but that doesn’t dismiss the fact that graham is as important to her as a real sibling. she’s never known how to express her emotions or communicate her feelings, so perhaps it’s better that the two act the way they act. anytime the girl looks back on her life thus far, graham has been there. the two have watched each other grow up and seen each other transform into the people that they are today. as annoyed as she may seem by his presence, the girl will always be grateful for his influence on her life. from diapers to the pythons, nina has seen graham change into someone that she truly respects and admires and she can’t imagine taking on the next stage of her life without him. though it’ll take her another five years before she admits it, she’s proud of him and she kinda’ loves him and he’ll always be the only brother she needs in her life ( even if she does like nia more ).

✦ * ˚ . ˚ [ villas task 004 ] –  FAMILY.
although it may be a downright mess, nathan’s family has largely influenced nathan and his personality. have you ever wondered why he’s so fucked up today? i mean, there’s plenty reasons but one of biggest is his family. in short the family is dysfunctional and mismatched, their personalities constantly clashing and each with their own opinions. their typical family dinners have been described as the iconic dinner scene from shrek 2 but the chaos goes deeper than that. so read on if you’d like to hear more about the pain that is nathan’s family ! alternatively you can watch this v short & pointless video i made on the byun-lim siblings ( it wouldn’t be a tru mar post if it didn’t involve a meme )
katrine byun ( 17 ) -- younger sister
one of nathan’s earliest memories is him sitting in the kitchen while his mom was cooking dinner while she announced that they had come up with a name for nathan’s soon-to-be sister. “katrine,” she had said and this made nathan, who was five at the time, elated. it sounded a lot like ka-train and the boy who’s current obsession was trains eagerly awaited the arrival of his little sister. the first few years of them growing up were happy and nathan, who had a habit of screwing up, made a promise to himself that he wouldn’t fuck things up with katrine. he was going to be a good older brother. as you can probably guess, things didn’t go as planned and the love he held for his little sister went down hill. he wanted to protect her but his actions of calling her friends out or being mean to anyone that teased her caused her to push him away. she thought he was ruining her friendships and getting involved when he shouldn’t have so she shut him out. for a while they barely spoke but when kaia joined their family, the dynamic shifted and soon katrine was pulling pranks on her older brother with her new sister. nowadays their relationship is just fine -- she tends to be closer with kaia and tell her everything and nathan asks their step-sister for the news on katrine. he’s only ever wished her the best and hopes that she leads a happy and successful life, even if he’s no longer by her side.
kaia lim ( 21 ) -- step-sister
i’m sure it’s been made pretty clear but these two do not get along. they’re always trying to ruin the other’s life with petty fights and stupid arguments. they hold only bitter animosity for each other and though their dynamic is negative, their dramatic antics can get pretty funny. nathan sees kaia as a pain in the ass especially when she and katrine team up against him. he hates that katrine looks up and has a healthy relationship with kaia and the older girl has influenced katrine into making fun of nathan and sabotaging him at the dinner table. though they’re constantly at each other’s throats, they share quite a few personality traits and the reason why they always fight could be because they’re so similar. deep, deep, deep down, nathan does see kaia his family and it’d be no surprise if all of the pythons already know about their connection but for now they’ll stick with pretending they’re not step-siblings so as to not associate themselves with the other.
byun dohyun ( 50 ) -- father
nathan’s relationship with his father has always been rocky. being the first born meant dohyun’s expectations were set on an all time high and nathan had always failed to reach them. ever since he was young, he felt like a burden to his father and though at one point tried hard to impress him, his actions would result in scolds and cold shoulders. instead of bothering to work with nathan and point him in the right direction, dohyun left the boy to his own devices and much of his attention fell on to katrine who he spoils endlessly. their relationship took another sour turn when nathan had discovered his dad in bed with another woman. dohyun attempted to blackmail nathan into keeping this quiet but as you can imagine this incident shook his pretty badly and he quickly told his mom which later resulted in their divorce. this also explains why nathan reacted so negatively when he found himself in a similar situation with graham. he despises his father and the fear of becoming anything like him scares him to death.
ja eun park ( 45 ) -- step-mom
nathan’s relationship with his step-mom is pretty much non-existent and he tries hard to keep it that way. the fact that his dad was remarrying another woman didn’t sit well with him because he couldn’t picture anyone replacing his own mother. he didn’t care so much for their marriage but the union had also brought two new members to his already dysfunctional family and it’s no surprise that ja eun and nathan have had their share of arguments. mostly of her telling him what to do and him not listening. after years of the new marriage, nathan still refused to call her mom and will refer to her with step emphasized.
jeong jieun ( 46 ) -- mother
neglect. that’s the word that comes to mind when describing nathan’s relationship with his mom. though it hadn’t always been like this. when he was younger and still trying to grow into himself, his mother had taken his side and soothed him from when he caused trouble. loads of arguments she had with nathan’s father were the result of her trying to back up her son. but slowly she started to lose hope for nathan, and just like dohyun she grew tired of making excuses for their son. the real stab in the back came when she found out about her husband’s affair and without so much of a goodbye she had left nathan, who was only 13 at the time, in the care of his father. she had taken katrine with her at first and that broke nathan. the two most important female figures in his life now gone -- left with only a broken home and a horrible father. she had sent katrine back to live with them after realizing she couldn’t take care of her but kept it in touch with her little girl. nathan, however, she shut out and it’s a miracle if she remembers to call on his birthday. still, nathan can’t help but hang on to a small childish hope that one day she will return as the loving mother he once knew.
coach wymack ( 32 ) -- father figure
losing his parents’ guidance at an early stage in life, nathan didn’t have anyone to praise him or simply point him in the right direction. and for the most part, he didn’t care. he went on his way, screwing up his life all the way till college. and it was college where he really found his love for lacrosse. he had played on his high-school team on his father’s demands but in college, a young coach had took nathan under his wing. he was the first to encourage nathan in the sport and more importantly he was the first one to ever see potential in nathan. he believed if nathan continued he could succeed and over the course of four years, nathan really saw wymack as more of a father than his real father ever was. recently, he received a letter from wymack offering him a position as his assistant coach and though it was once everything nathan wanted, he doesn’t know how to tell his old coach that he’s dropped lacrosse for good. he’s disappointed enough people in his life and hates the fact that he’d be letting down the one adult figure that ever thought he was good enough.

✖┋❛ &. villatasks004 › family.
vera has a veryyyyyy small family. it’s only her mom, dad and her, so growing up was pretty lonely but she learned 2 deal w it. the evangjeli’s love each other very much n they do get along, they just all have issues when it comes 2 showing love tbh. vera’s parents were never around for most of her childhoo, but it wasn’t because they didn’t love her ! anyway tho, i’ll go more in depth under the cut.
andri evangjeli ( 44 )
vera definitely considers herself to be a “daddy’s girl”. her and her dad get along extremely well, and he was the person who encouraged her passion for film. as a musician, andri was on tour a lot of the time. as a little girl, vera was able to attend some of her father’s shows and watch from back stage, but eventually she was left in the care of a babysitter. as much as andri loved vera, he loved his career just as much. when he and zamira had vera, they were not really ready for a child. the two of them were young and in love, still wanting to experience life together. for this reason, vera was often left in the care of various babysitters while her parents went to shows all over the world. still, vera cares deeply for her father. she has many fond memories of him, like the time he tried to teach her how to play guitar, and the time they dressed up and went trick-or-treating. andri is an aries, and aries are extremely compatible with aquarius. the two of them have a relationship typical of any fire and air sign duo. despite how much she loves her father, vera can’t help but feel like she missed out on a lot. she felt like she was abandoned, for the most part, and was forced to grow up too fast and on her own. like father like daughter, it’s no surprise vera loves to party. as a musician, her father was almost always at a party if not at a show. vera took after her father in many ways, not just partying. her passion for the arts was because of her father, and he was her number one motivator when she decided to pursue film.
zamira evangjeli ( 40 )
zamira and vera don’t have a particularly special bond. vera mostly took after her father and felt closest to him, however, she does still love her mother. vera is bitter towards the fact that they didn’t have a typical mother-daughter relationship. when it came to coming of age, vera had to learn everything on her own. her mother was never around enough to have important talks with her. one fond memory vera does have of her mother, however, is about astrology. it was zamira who taught vera about the signs. zamira is extremely spiritual and passed some of these beliefs down to vera, specifically about fate and the cosmos. for the most part, vera feels as though her mother never truly grew up. she feels this way about both of her parents, but especially her mother. to vera, zamira is more like an older sister that was barely around. most of vera’s trust and abandonment issues come from her parents and their lack of presence in her life as she was growing up. vera loves her parents, but they were absent in some of the most crucial moments of her existence. her parents, especially her mother, are supportive from a distance. zamira was too in love with andri at the time she was born to be able to properly love her child.

VILLA TASKS 004: FAMILY
i feel like most everyone ooc knows by now that benji’s family is just a bunch of fucked up mess but hey ho let’s have some fun and dive a little deeper into this weird ass emo mess of biological relatives and people he’ll actually call family. i’m.... i’m really sorry for how long this got. i don’t think anyone’s going to be surprised but i’m still sorry it’s so much.
maternal grandparents
baekhyeon & eunae choi
truthfully, benjamin never really knew his mom’s parents. sure, he can remember them. he remembers his grandfather sneaking him candy when his mom wasn’t looking, and he remembers how pretty his grandmother was, but he doesn’t remember them or their personalities. he really only recognizes them as the people who fucked up with raising his mom. in a lot of ways, he’s resentful of them. if they had paid more attention to melody when she was young, if they hadn’t just sent her away with a nanny and given her what she wanted to she wouldn’t cause a fuss, then maybe she wouldn’t have treated him the way she did. but he’s never claimed to hate his grandparents. in fact, after his grandfather died in 2012, he received a call from a lawyer about inheritance. benji really just figured that everything would go to his mom. instead when he met with the lawyer he was told that they had left 90% of their money to him (which was way more than he’d ever have expected) and the remaining 10% plus the family heirlooms went to melody. he didn’t appreciate the fact that she got jealous and petty about it, but he did appreciate the letter written by his grandfather before he died, explaining why he was giving the money to him. since then, benjamin’s had a new appreciation for his mother’s parents, especially how they owned up to their mistakes with his mother and in the end, set him up for life so he wouldn’t have to worry about much.
paternal grandparents
ahn hyunshik & park sunhee
on the opposite end of the spectrum is benjamin’s paternal grandparents. god, he loves his dad’s parents. he didn’t get to see them as much as he wanted to. only during the summer when they’d make a trip to korea, really. but his grandparents over there were what manifested his love for the country, his heritage, and the city of seoul. even at a young age, benji never looked up to his dad. but the same couldn’t be said for his dad’s dad. hyunshik was a really happy man, who always took the time to listen to benji patiently with whatever he wanted to say, and in a lot of ways even today, benjamin still holds himself to the standard of ‘would he be proud of me right now?’ and well, while there are several times (see: a lot of the time) he feels like he’s failing on that front, he’ll forever be grateful to his grandfather for just being there. it was supremely hard on him when he died when benji was only twelve years old. the next year, unsurprisingly enough, is also the year benjamin started acting out and getting wild. fighting, getting into trouble, etc. it’s not completely because of his grandfather’s death, but that had plenty to do with it. his grandmother, though? that’s one of his favorite people. sunhee is the one member of his family that benjamin would gladly take a bullet (or twelve) for if need be. every visit he’s taken as an adult has been solely to see her, and several times in the villa you can hear him speaking korean on the phone; he’s talking to her. there’s not a week that goes by without him talking to her (barring the week or two after his dad’s death, but that’s been resolved between them). she’s the only person in his family that’s ever just been happy with his dreams of being a nurse. there was never any “but you could be a great doctor!” or “guys shouldn’t be nurses!” or “why are you being such an underachiever?” from her. just support and happiness. which is what he values most from her. his grandmother’s also one of the reasons he really got into cooking, as well. benji’s known as the food guy in the house, but when he was little and would go see them he could be found in her kitchen too, helping out in whatever way he could. this is the first year in a while he hasn’t taken a trip over the summer to go see her, but he still keeps in contact through skype, facetime, and phone calls.
father
taemin ahn
it’s not hard to figure out that taemin and benjamin never got along. the truth was, taemin never wanted kids. he just wasn’t a kid person. and that wasn’t a bad thing. no one has to love kids. but still, taemin fathered a child, and he never fully stepped up in the ways benjamin needed him to. sure, taemin was there for him physically and financially. he was present in body, but absent emotionally and that’s where things really went wrong between them. as a kid, benji always saw his dad as some all powerful figure who made the rules and couldn’t be disobeyed no matter what. frankly, he was a little scared of his dad when he was little. the man never wore a happy expression, at least not one benji recognized. his smiles always seemed forced and well practiced, and he was far too serious to be the dad of a young child. but as he grew up, benji grew out of that fear. he started to realize that his dad was just a man who had a stick up his ass for whatever reason. the only thing his dad cared about when it came to benji was how well he was doing. no, not mentally or emotionally, but how well he was doing in school, how well he was doing in his social life, how well he was doing in areas that could someday further them as a whole family. that was where it went even worse. when benji hit his teenage years, he started to lash out at his father. sure, before he’d always given him attitude. he’d make a face, or roll his eyes, or make a snarky comment. but full blown arguments would be held in the ahn household between benjamin and taemin, and god did it get ugly. words were thrown like knives at each other, both of them far too stubborn for a relationship to settle nicely. taemin would say something along the lines of benji being a disappointment, and benji would hit him back with telling him that he couldn’t wait for him to be rid of his dad when he turned eighteen. towards the end of benjamin’s years as a minor, the arguments only got worse, but they never turned physical. one little thing was all it took to set them off. and by the time benji actually left home, he and his father barely even looked at each other, much less spoke a word. recently, taemin died. he was crossing the street, going to his car from the building where he worked, when he was hit by a drunk driver. and even though benjamin still hates his dad, he still resents everything he did, and everything he said to him, he can’t help but feel guilty for never at least trying to make amends with his dad. he knows it’s impossible, that the two would’ve never been able to patch things up. so benji knows that it’s stupid to feel guilty about it. but it doesn’t stop him from feeling that way. in the end, the wishes he made when he was a little boy to have his dad treat him like how other dad’s treat their kids just turned out to be hollow and empty, just how he feels when he thinks about taemin now.
mother
melody ahn
melody is similar to her husband in the way that she never wanted children. that’s not to say benji was an accident. no, he was very much planned. melody always liked the idea of kids. having that perfect little family of three or four appealed to her in her mind. but the reality was far from what she hoped for. just like she was when she was first born, benjamin was handed off to someone else. first it was the doctors. benji was born too early, and had to stay in the hospital for the first eight weeks of his life. after that, she continued to hand him off. nannies were a common thing in the ahn household until he was about seven. if his father was some sort of all powerful being who made the rules to benji when he was young, then his mother was some ethereal being who was almost untouchable. but just like taemin, she was never a warm figure in benjamin’s life. she was cold, always making sure benji looked proper and didn’t act out. the only times she ever talked to him in a soft tone was when they were in public and she was scolding him, and to a young benji, that was more frightening than if she were to yell at him. because he knew that when they got him her temper would fly out and she wouldn’t be that soft looking ethereal being any more. she’d be the screeching brat of a woman benjamin grew up thinking of her as. and it was true. melody rarely had anyone say no to her. compared to his dad, benji got into far less fights with his mom, and that was because he saw no point in trying. the woman wanted things her way all the time exactly when she expected it. and unlike taemin, melody had no problem getting physical. no, that’s not to say she would outright hit someone. but there were several times, mostly in his teenage years, benjamin thought she was going to slap him (and one time she did), but things were thrown in her anger, and screaming could be heard from the other houses around theirs. things only got worse between them as he entered his teenage years and started to act out. with every fight he got into, every time the police brought him home, every time he was reported to be sneaking off of the private school campus, her stare got colder and colder and her words even sharper. to this day benjamin doesn’t hate anyone as much as he hates his mother. after he left home, she was the one who kept bothering him. phone call after phone call came in, yelling at him, begging him, and belittling him in her attempts to get him to come back home and do as they say. no, it wasn’t because she missed him. she wouldn’t have noticed if he was living with them in their upscale home any way. but it didn’t look good. to have a child, their only son, leave abruptly with only a few plans of becoming a nurse in the future? it made her angry, and he wasn’t buying into any of her empty promises to go easier on him. after the escalation of her bitterness when it came to her own parents’ fortune, melody stopped calling him. total radio silence except for the random guilt trippy voice mail here and there. at least that’s how it was until her husband died. since that initial phone call when benjamin found out, melody has been calling him more often, back to her old ways. he hasn’t been picking up much, and he hasn’t even told anyone either.
aunts, uncles, & cousins
im hyunjae, nam jinkyoung, ahn kwangsun, ahn chinhae, ahn daeho & their spouses
because melody was an only child, benjamin has no aunts or uncles on that side. but taemin is the second oldest of six children, leaving benji with two aunts and three uncles, all of whom are married. since taemin immigrated from korea to the us, that put a rift between the siblings, causing them to not reach out. it only got worse when melody came into the picture. sure, benji saw his aunts and uncles once a year, maybe twice every few years, but none of them really bother with him and he’s fine with that. to them, he’s just taemin and melody’s son, and most of them feel bad for him. but they have their own lives to worry about. and to benji, they’re just far off distant family that’s never bothered to give him the time of day. to him, it could be worse. so he feels like he’s almost lucked out with the fact that they’re so apathetic. as for his cousins it’s almost the same way. he has nine cousins, ranging from a few years older than him to five or six years old. the older ones are in relationships, some of are even married, one even has a kid of their own. the most interaction benji has with his cousins now is on social media. a like here and there, a few follows, but no actual communication. no one reaches out to him, and he’s fine with it. after all, if it’s not broken, then don’t fix it.
the jee family
seungbin, dain, & jaewon jee
the jee’s are a very special case. as next door neighbors to the ahn’s for benjamin’s entire life, you’d think that they’d just be that: neighbors. instead, they were always more like family. melody and dain’s friendship was damn near unbreakable, while seungbin and taemin found themselves getting along in a more relaxed sort of way. this, of course, set it up perfectly when they both had children only a couple years apart. just like how he thought of his own parents, benjamin grew up not being able to stand the jee’s either. it wasn’t because of their treatment of him (which was more or less apathetic) but because of how they treated jaewon. his own situation was mirrored next door, and it only brought the two boys closer together. growing up, there was no better friend to benji than jae and vice versa. the two were an unstoppable duo, ready to take on the world no matter the cost. of course, most people would assume childhood friendships would change as kids grow up. and they did change. benjamin grew angrier, and jae immersed himself in playing the piano. it changed again when benjamin grew considerably less angry once he moved out, and then it was jae’s turn to get angry after his accident. despite their changes in attitude, the two still stuck together like glue. they’d been through so much together, why would they give up on one another if something bad has happened? to this day, benjamin still has hard feelings against dain, especially with how she reacted to jae’s accident. to him, she’s just another version or his mother. something he hates. he’s just glad that out of the whole situation, he came out with a little brother.
the choi family
jaechan, mina, nia, & graham choi (ft. the rest of the choi’s)
even more so than the jee’s, the choi’s are even more special case when it comes to benjamin. there was this boy at college, right? a few years younger than benji. he was all smiles and nerves and bounces around with corny jokes. somehow them casually talking to each other became more frequent, and then they started talking more seriously, and then the boy wormed his way even more into benjamin’s heart just by sticking to his side. it was odd for benji to be so receptive of him. after living for so long with only one person he cared about daily, to have someone else fix themselves into his life was pretty much unheard of. at that point, benjamin kept almost everyone at an arm’s length away from him, that’s all he’d ever known. but there came that one boy, with the bright attitude who could talk a mile a minute and somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, benji took to graham as well. and then he met graham’s family, which again, was a shock to him. it wasn’t the cool, aloof, money hungry and possessive group of people that he was used to thinking of when he heard the word family. the choi’s were loving and kind, funny and gentle, and everything that benji had wanted his own family to be when he was younger. it was off putting at first. he felt odd, like an outsider when he met them. sure, graham was great and he always bragged (in a kind way) about his family. but to actually see them face to face just being out there the way they were? it unsettled him. but what he didn’t catch on to was that graham had also bragged about him, and they welcomed him with open arms. it took a little bit, but benji eventually warmed up. he stopped being so aloof around them, and it was easy to situate himself within their ranks. slipping into the role where he helped mina, talked to jaechan easily, played around with nia (and when vivi came along, he fell in love with the family even more), and being next to graham had always been easy. but now in the present day, it’s almost a natural thing for him to associate the words “his family” with the choi’s. even cousin sam. there are still moments he can be awkward around them. he still gets bashful when mina and jaechan try to do something for him, and he still smiles shyly when nia refers to him as her brother. but if anything, he’s glad that they’re on the same page. because now, even though he hasn’t really admitted it, mr. and mrs. choi are his parents, nia is his (sometimes annoying) sister, and graham is his (sometimes exasperating) little brother. and he wouldn’t change a thing about that or how they got there.
this was over 3,000 words and if u read all of this, i love u.

◤°░。 ✕ VILLAS TASK 004 ; MEET THE FAMILY ! ’ 〉
if there was an award to be won for looking the part of the ideal upper class family, the flores’ would have taken it. an only child born into a family with no shortage of ways to provide for her, from an outside prospective it seemed like romina grew up having it all. but nothing is perfect, and it was apparent from very early on in her life that her parents were much more enamored with the idea of a child than an actual child and the responsibilities that entailed. both adults being naturally magnetic and charming, they were obsessed with fitting in and conforming to the comfortable lifestyle they led, no aesthetic spared even at the cost of their child’s neglect. with no siblings or immediate family who were actually close to the flores’, before starting school romina’s childhood was a lonely adult dominated world. to this day she’s not close with any aunts, uncles, or cousins due to her dad’s rocky relationship with his brothers and her mother being an only child. as far as grandparents go, they’re either in the grave or in argentina where her family, from both, sides hail from.
melina silva ( mother )
melina was only twenty years old when she gave birth to romina, and she definitely was not prepared for motherhood, a concept the woman never got the hang of even to this day. a yoga teacher with her own studio, melina was very into her job and the social life of the workplace. she’d spend more time at her studio or going out with her girlfriends than at home with her own daughter, burdening romina with babysitters until it was socially acceptable for melina to drop romina off at daycare once the girl was a little older. melina was never good with children and she’d often talk to romina like she was an adult long before romina was one, ranting to her about her father or workplace drama as if romina could understand and then getting annoyed when the little girl didn’t. one of romina’s earliest memories with her mom was in the middle of a party melina was hosting at home where romina had pranced out after raiding her mom’s closet, decked out in over sized clothes and shoes, only to be met with amused laughter from the adults for a moment before they moved on and completely forgot about her existence. melina had told romina to go back to her room and change, and that she would help dress her, only for the woman to forget and leave romina waiting up long enough that she fell asleep on the floor of her mom’s walk in closet. as romina got older her mom seemed more excited to try for a relationship, but the woman’s interest was always superficial. she’d have a blast doing romina’s hair for prom or pouring them both mimosas long before it was legal for romina to drink just so she’d have someone to complain to during breakfast, never bothering to be on the receiving end of the conversation. after her parents divorced, romina found herself stuck with the role of parent with melina because her mom has decided it’s never too late for a rebellious phase. still, a lot about romina can be traced back to her mother even if their relationship is far from close, mainly romina’s love and appreciation for yoga. a big part of the reason why romina took up the “mom” role with the pythons was to make sure they’d all have that genuine support she never got with her own mom.
valentin flores ( father )
if romina’s distance from her mother seems significant enough, it's nothing compared to her relationship with her father. a successful realtor for luxury homes, like her mother valentin was very into his work. while melina liked to entertain her friends at home, valentin liked to go out with his, and because of this he was hardly ever at home with romina even when she was a baby. when he was around, he made more of an effort to treat her not like an adult but like the child she was at the time, but it was always short lived due to his feeble patience. he could only play with her for minutes before getting bored or frustrated in the same way melina would when romina hadn’t understood long winding rants about her coworkers or about her father. instead of treating romina like an adult right away and bombarding her with concepts no child can or should be able to understand like melina did, valentin took it a step forward and flat out ignored romina until she was older. once romina started middle school and seemed very career driven at such an early age her father’s interest in her reignited for a few years fading only when he realized she had no intentions of being a realtor like him. once romina was in high school and her parents were fighting more and more, valentin would often get annoyed with romina just because of how much she looked like her mother. this behavior only added to their already strained relationship, and after this romina stopped trying altogether just because she was at a loss at how to communicate with him. after the divorce valentin felt much guiltier than melina about it, and he tries his best to at least communicate with romina during important holidays like christmas and new years, but her birthday is never on the list.

*.:。 task 004. family — the rosales ◥
the rosales aren’t a close knit family, but they’re also not a tragic family. the parents are deeply in love and happily married, the kids all get along, and they have a pet dog, but theres also a lot of negative energy that is never put up for show. rafael and sloan flores are parents to one girl and two boys, but their parenting towards their only daughter is significantly different compared to how they are with their two sons. being the eldest, teagan has a lot more responsibilities and expectations than her brothers and her relationship with her parents are drastically different. presley and diego are the rosales’ most prized and loved children, but teagan is just teagan. their family dynamic is loving and supportive, but the only family that’s truly loving and supportive towards teagan are her brothers (mostly diego). they’re not close, but they’re not distant. they have sunday dinner together and they go to all the games, science fairs, and stuff like that to support one another and show family unity, but that’s pretty much it. the rosales are your average family-- they’re not too close, but they’re not too distant. they’re content, but they’re not all happy. they love each other, but to what extent varies between each relationship.
rafael tobias rosales - father, capricorn
a biomedical engineer that believes that knowledge is everything. he believes in handwork and making decisions that'll make you successful rather than happy. rafael is a high key capricorn, fitting the stereotype completely by being responsible, independent, too serious, unimaginative, and a total workaholic. he's your average father figure that's strict, into sports, and is always tired whenever he gets home from a long day of work. rafael is into academics and sciences, but unlike teagan, rafael is more into the facts rather than the theories. he's way too serious and daydreaming isn't even in his vocabulary. he'll make jokes, but his humor is very dry and the only person usually laughing is diego because sloan doesn't find it funny, presley doesn't get it, and teagan is never around to hear it. he's a good father figure to the boys because he'll play sports with them and do the things that fathers do with their sons, but his role in teagan's life has slipped immensely as she got older and was no longer his little girl.
usually fathers refuse to stop thinking of their little girl as a little girl, but that wasn't the case for rafael and teagan. they used to be a close bond and teagan was definitely daddy's little princess when she was younger, but as she got older and got interested in boys and the basic teen stuff, their relationship cracked and it never got repaired. she used to be his little girl and rafael used to spoil her with all the love and toys that you could imagine, but things changed when teagan became a teen and her father was quick to cut all ties. as soon as she got older and was no longer a little girl, her father started treating her like an adult. she was no longer his little princess and he never treated her like she was a child. he gave her responsibility and trust, but he also seemed to take away the love and support he gave her as a child. he was proud of teagan for her outstanding academics and wanting to go into science, but was frustrated with her belief in aliens and conspiracy theories. she was into the facts, but not in the way that rafael wanted her to be. he wanted her to be the model big sister and the child that he could be proud of and show off and she was at one point, but things changed as she got older and their relationship shifted from a father/daughter one to more of a business associate. he saw her as the older sister that needed to be a good example for her little brothers and he's criticize her for every mistake she did. getting b's instead of a's, being too sick to come to class, choosing maui over an internship. everything she did was under a microscope and her father was quick to call her out. she went from being enough and his little girl to someone that never seemed to do enough.
sloan isla rosales (nee fuentes) - mother, scorpio
she came from a poor family and it wasn't until she married rafael was she able to know what it's like to be apart of the upper middle class. when she was younger, all she wanted to do was be a princes and do pageants and grow up to be a fashion designer or work with makeup and perfumes, but because she came from a poor family, sloan knew that she couldn't and that's why she chose to become an accountant because she knew that her dreams wouldn't bring in stable income and she refused to live the way she did when she was younger. although she chose to be an accountant, she's still very much into beauty and makes sure she's the prettiest one in the office and during the appointments. she'll show up in designer clothes she can afford and heels so tall that people look at her in amazement with how gracefully she walks in them.
sloan always wanted a daughter, but when she got teagan, teagan just wasn't enough for her. she wanted a daughter that was into the same things she was, but teagan was more into sciences, aliens, and conspiracy theories than she was into beauty and pageants. teagan wanted to enter the science fair and build lasers, but her mother wanted her in dresses and winning the tiara. teagan learned to love fashion as she got older, but by the time she tried to connect with her mom and form a close bond with her, sloan just didn't care enough to form one with her. sloan is a very loving mother to diego and especially presley, but she's very critical and cold when it comes to teagan and although teagan hates the heat, she'd much rather be the one in this position rather than watching her brothers go through it instead. teagan and her mother aren't close and her mother makes her question everything, but teagan still yearns for her acceptance and is constantly trying to be the daughter her mother wanted. teagan tries to act like the lack of motherly love doesn't affect her, but in reality it has everything to do with teagan's need to be loved and why she's constantly putting herself out there and entertaining people and talking and acting the way she does because she never got the love a mother was supposed to give her. sloan holds a lot of resentment against teagan because she wanted teagan to live the life sloan wanted to as a child, but teagan turned out different than her expectations of a daughter. sloan always wanted a beauty queen daughter, but got one that was in love with aliens instead. she wanted to be a stay at home mom and live lavishly, but she had to work and while she's not poor, slogans also not rich enough to support her dream lifestyle. she has three kids, but sloan puts all the resentment and hatred and jealousy and negative energy on teagan than the boys because at least the boys fit her expectations.
presley darren rosales - brother, leo
16 years old and currently a junior in high school. he's apart of the varsity football team, has a solid 3.0 gpa to keep him in the game, and a massive heartbreaker due to his look and position in the social ladder. he's the most high key leo you'll ever meet with his constant need for attention and the spotlight. he's a bit arrogant and painfully straightforward, but presley is also extremely energetic and optimistic. although it's usually the middle child that gets the least amount of attention, presley is definitely the favorite child of the rosales siblings and he's not afraid of using the favoritism card against his siblings whenever he can. he's the golden child despite his constant reckless behaviors. presley is almost untouchable when it comes to anything due to the favoritism, so he never hesitates when it comes to doing something he shouldnt because he knows the stakes aren't that high for him.
teagan and presley are your average siblings who fight and get along at a healthy amount. they're not exactly the best of friends and they're constantly butting heads, but they love each other nonetheless. presley is a big annoyance to teagan because of his attitude and his constant need to be the center of gravity. and because she's the eldest and is supposed to be the role model, teagan is often blamed for his reckless behaviors even though she wasn't involved with it in anyway. she dislikes presley for constantly getting her into trouble, but teagan knows it has more to do with her relationship with her parents than it actually has to do with her role as the big sister. he's also the brother that gets the most attached to the boys that teagan brings home because he always wanted an older brother, so whenever teagan undergoes a breakup, presley often sides with her ex rather than teagan, which creates a lot of problems and drifts between them.
diego hayes rosales - brother, virgo
15 year old sophomore in high school that's more low-key out of the three siblings. while teagan and presley don't mind the attention, diego tries his best to stay out of it as much as he can. he's your everyday virgo because he's studious and sensible, but diego is also incredibly petty and cold. he's the youngest, but he's treated as if he's the middle child. the parents love him, but their attention isn't on him unless he does something academically successful. he's the nhs secretary, sophomore class treasurer, and has a solid 4.0 gpa that he argues would be at least a 4.3 gpa if their school allowed a gpa higher than 4.0. he's into soccer, but he's not as athletic compared to presley and only joined the team because he knows a sport will look great in college applications.
teagan and diego are best friends, partners in crime, and each other's ride or dies to the fullest extent. although they're a trio with presley, teagan and diego are the closes out of the siblings and out of the family in general. they're opposites that compliment each other beautifully, but they also share a lot of the same qualities. she likes entertaining and staring the conversations while diego is more of a listener and will laugh at her jokes. she's more open than diego, but diego is still very humorous if he gets comfortable enough with you. they're both incredibly petty and often talk about their petty acts together or call each other out when they're being petty about something or to each other. although she's the eldest, diego is extremely protective of her when it comes to boys and their parents. diego tries to be the "big brother" and intimidate the boys she brings home. and because they're extremely close, diego knows how much damage their parents inflicts on teagan and he does his best to protect her whenever he can whether it means taking the blame, siding with her, or taking the fall with her so she's not the only one getting the heat. out of everyone, teagan loves him the most and has the closest bond with him. she loves presley with all her heart, but if it weren't for diego, then teagan would never visit home.

░ ° » VILLAS TASK 004 – FAMILY! 〉
easily an introverted kid, jaewon didn’t grow up with the conventional loving family ( surprise ! ). being the only child, his mother and father wanted everything “perfect” in their lives which included their son. even if it was at the expense of their individual relationships, they were willing to sacrifice his happiness and healthy image of what a family is supposed to be like in order to ensure he would thrive professionally in the way that they wanted. so smash that read more to find out just how awful his family really is !
SEUNG-BIN JEE ( FATHER )
jaewon’s parents were always a duo, withholding strong beliefs that they forcibly fed to jae. his father was the more quiet out of the two, yet the most passive aggressive when it came to expressing his distaste for piano. his focus was education, a stable and reassuring path to success which was brought up every night at the dinner table. his father was the type to drop subtle comments around the house whenever jaewon was near, popping in and out of his room while he practiced piano relentlessly to ask, “why are you wasting your time?” considering his father was a successful and well-known doctor, his biggest aspiration was for his son to follow in his footsteps into a profession of his own choosing. however, when what was supposed to be a hobby turned into jae’s growing fascination, he quickly tried to deter him onto the path that he wanted for jae which turned into elaborate and elevated arguments. there was never any comfort that came from his father, and jae learned fairly quickly that he didn’t share the same relationship that the average son shared with a father. his father shot down any attempts to bond, only leaving for a broken and defeated jaewon whom gave up on all efforts all together eventually. with such foreign emotions at a young age, jae could only be met with the constant furrow of his brows at how calm and collected his father was around other people, offering smiles all around compared to the stone cold gaze that he offered jaewon. it was like his father treated him with a sense of professionalism – a patient whom he would pick and prod at for his own self-benefit. he wanted to have his sons future planned out his way opposed to how his son wanted it to be, each comment serving as an attempt to wither him down until he gave up resisting. his father passed away from lung cancer when jaewon was the age of sixteen, yet jaewon had little to no time to grieve over the man whom was so unfamiliar to him before his mother latched onto his throat – it had only just began with her.
DAIN JEE ( MOTHER )
his mother was very similar to his father, yet more outspoken and forthright with what she thought of piano. typically dain fed off of his father’s comments, quick to back him up with an antagonizing smile. being very manipulative, she always turned the tables on arguments to make jaewon feel like they were his fault for not listening to his parents, making him out to be a disrespectful boy who was ungrateful. she was a majority of the reason that jaewon always kept his mouth shut and took the heat, nervous that she would twist his words into something that he didn’t mean. like his father, jaewon learned fairly quickly that he didn’t share the same relationship with his mother that the average son did. there was a lack of comfort, love, and empathy when it came to her, and her chocolate brown hues were stale with a lack of love when she looked at her son. it wasn’t until his father died at the age of sixteen that dain really turned up the heat, forcing his fathers ideals onto him much more forcefully because of her desire to carry on his memory. she would even go as far as threatening to take piano away if he acted against her wishes, forming his passion into a bait of sorts to bend his will in her own twisted direction. it was like his father had become a trigger for her, dain turning from a mildly ( and i say mildly very very loosely ) sane manipulative person to a harsh and cold human being. she always ensured jaewon that he would merely turn out to be a “lowlife playing piano in some cheap restaurant” along with other hurtful comments. the first thing she said to him in the hospital was, “at least now you can move on with your life.” jaewon is insistent on keeping her out of his life, her efforts to stay in contact slowly diminishing throughout the years as their relationship has grown stale entirely. when his accident happened, his mother was nothing short of relieved and had no problem saying that.
BENJAMIN AHN ( BROTHER ) & TAEMIN/MELODY AHN ( SECOND “FAMILY” )
if you were the ask the only child if he has any siblings, his response will always be “yes.” ever since he was born, jaewon has known nothing more than the reassurance that comes with his relationship to benjamin. the two practically raised each other, being the support system of love and comfort that neither of them received from their parents. they’ve been through thick and thin, yet their relationship has never deterred for a minute. an unspoken bond always ties them to one another, plans for their futures and recollections of their past only solidifying the love that they share. though their relationship has never changed, many aspects of their personalities have, the two of them by each others side throughout it all. they’re a constant – a reliable variable that one another will always have accompanied by the comfort of a confidant, a best friend, and a brother. benjamin is the only family that jaewon has ever known, and though sometimes he gets lonely, he couldn’t ask for anything more. as for the other two ahn’s, jaewon has always seen them as family, though he hates them just as much as he hates his own parents. growing up as neighbors, both of their mothers ( and their similar tastes for manipulation ) made them into best friends. they spent much time throughout the week at one another’s place, practically becoming conjoined homes. their parents fed off of each other as means to make the two boys miserable, believing that it was mere “discipline.” the similarities in their lives only pushed the two boys closer, making them damn near inseparable now. though the ahn’s are people whom jaewon will always hold a similar distaste for, he’ll forever be grateful to have the brother he never got.
PARK SOL-BOYEOL & KIM JUMI ( GRANDPARENTS )
though his grandfather passed when he was young, his grandparents have always been a small ray of hope in his life. one of his favorite memories involves his grandfather and how he would set up scavenger hunts for jaewon whenever his family would go to korea to visit, having a plethora of actives for him to complete. those were times in which jae felt the most at piece in his life and the most able to act like a kid given that his parents never allowed that at home. being the grandparents on his mothers side, they’ve always remained mildly in the dark and oblivious to the way that jaewon was treated / the seriousness of his injury. though his grandfather passed away long before his injury, his grandmother was only given a mild and vague debriefing of the incident until benjamin contacted her and told her the real story of what happened to him. ever since then, his grandmothers relationship with his mother has completely tarnished; a family torn at the seams. every once in a while his grandmother reaches out to make sure he’d doing well and insists that he visits. part of jaewon is scared though with consideration that he hasn’t seen her since before his accident.
DANIEL THORN ( PIANO INSTRUCTOR )
daniel thorn, being a well-credited and known pianist, had picked jaewon up from a very young age and made him his pupil. his instructor, his coach, and one of his few friends ( given jae was originally a very introverted kid ) he saw the endless potential in jaewon and his exceptional skills. he was his star student, helping him to flourish and grow to the best of his ability. given the ridiculous amount of hours that they spent together a week alongside all of the traveling that they did with one another, the two of them were so close that their bond appeared unbreakable. if anyone was ever anything close to a father figure in his life, it was daniel thorn. his world quickly came crashing down after his accident, however, words of praise for acing his juilliard audition turning into pleads from thorn to not give up. every visit that he paid to jaewon in order to persuade him into not giving up and working back to where he was was enough to break and crack at his crumbling exterior. he pushed him away and thorn reluctantly let him, reassuring him that he’d always welcome him back and work with him again; a plea to not give up. thoughts cross his mind of thorn all the time, the thought itself upsetting him given how important he was in his life. though his thumb hovers over the green call button, he’s always too reluctant to press it.

☾✧.° VILLAS TASK #004: FAMILY !
though far from perfect, the chae family was in no way tearing apart at the seams. athena found herself to be relatively comfortable whenever she was around them, able to be her talkative, sometimes awkward self, even with her parents. her immediate family would often have movie nights at home together, renting a dvd from redbox or choosing something from netflix, watching it using their own little projector setup. it was a bit extra. they’d sometimes even invite graham over for the fun whenever he was available, and when brandon was still an active part of athena’s life, he would be there too. it’s kind of funny because her mom, dad, and sister would always gossip about athena while she was present, casually arguing over whether graham or brandon was better (her mother and sister preferred the former, her father the latter). she would always turn a shade of red, prompting more teasing from them. their family dynamic isn’t one where they tell each other everything, but they’re not out-of-the-loop with each other, either. it was a balance especially with the children, the girls having a vague idea of what they were both comfortable with sharing to their parents at the dinner table, which meant nothing too deep. yeah, athena did choose a college on the opposite side of the country to be apart from them, but it didn’t mean that she hated her family. she just sometimes felt suffocated by the concern they had for her, you feel? a girl needs to breathe. make her own decisions without the burdening thoughts of how her family would react if they found out. they’re chill, though. they have a group chat, and athena often sends memes.
minhyuk chae ( 채민혁 )  — father
age: fifty-one
occupation: chemical engineer
place of birth: daegu, south korea
hometown: daegu, south korea
current residence: seattle, washington
athena’s father was never one for many words, the quieter, more reserved parent of the two (though not by a lot). growing up, he always prepared a lunch for his daughters before he left for work and them for school. tteokbokki was a frequent member of the menu, especially since athena could never get tired of it. every now and then, he’d take the girls out to a museum, and it was safe to say that the museum of pop culture was athena’s absolute favorite. he eventually bought them a membership there. he was also the one who enrolled athena in piano lessons, to which she was incredibly thankful because it sparked her initial interest in music. as she grew up with a passion for playing strings, he wholeheartedly supported her hobby, only wanting the best for his eldest daughter. but that was exactly the thing. coming from a lower-middle class family in south korea that tried to support a household of seven, all he ever dreamed of immigrating to america was for his children to have the best. so when athena opened up about wanting to pursue a career in music, it was obvious that he was incredibly nervous. he didn’t want her to struggle to make ends meet if she fails to get where she wants to be without a backup plan. he wanted her to strive for something practical. something with more stability. it was hard for him to tell her that he wouldn’t financially support a major in music. it hurt him to tell her that, but he thought it was for the best. of course, athena tried to see it from his point of view, and she eventually complied with some hesitation. he just wants her to reach her full potential; he sees a lot of it in her. their relationship now isn’t as close as it was before, not necessarily because of his lack of support for a music-related career, but due to athena growing up and becoming more independent. once she left for college, he was no longer able to make her lunches. she didn’t need him for help with science homework. his little girl didn’t need him as much as she used to, save for him texting her about job opportunities in the computer science field because she’s out here being unemployed. though a bittersweet feeling, minhyuk only wishes her well. the words “i love you” have never left his mouth when it came to his daughters, but it’s no need. athena already knows.
soojin chae nee bak ( 채수진 ) — mother
age: fourty-eight
occupation: data analyst for amazon, inc.
place of birth: seoul, south korea
hometown: seoul, south korea
current residence: seattle, washington
soojin chae loves replying to athena’s text messages using imessage stickers or a series of emojis. she’s that mom. the two of them could probably hold a conversation using solely stickers (from soojin) and reaction images (from athena). her mother was more into greek mythology than her father was, though it was partially a major bonding factor that brought the couple together. to go along with the daily lunches her husband made for their daughters, soojin would insert pieces of a myth into their bags, starting it off in the beginning of the week and ending the story by friday. athena would occasionally get impatient and look up the entire myth in a book instead of waiting for the next part. however, the stories eventually became more infrequent as the girls got older. her mom simply became too busy to search for new material, guilty of repeating some as the years passed. she wasn’t an extremely strict mother, but that was mostly because athena never really did anything to push the boundaries. you know those parents on facebook who always post pictures of their families no matter how minor the importance of the event? yeah, that’s her mom. athena’s timeline review is filled with a bunch of pictures she finds unflattering, not daring to add it to her timeline. she really resented the amount of times her mom would ask her to pose in front of a random wall or request that a waiter take their picture at a restaurant they’ve been to several times before, but it became routine after a while, her audible whining more of a habit than actual distaste. during the times athena was away from seattle for school, it felt weird not having an iphone camera in her face so often. as much as she would hate to admit it, she also picked up the practice of taking pictures in remotely interesting places. although soojin came from a wealthier family than her husband, she still harbored the same wishes for her daughters, so she was quick to back him up when he expressed his concerns toward athena’s future. that didn’t mean she didn’t enjoy the moments when her daughter would lounge around in their living room, practicing her music for jazz band. if anything, she relished in the sound, filled with pride for her talented daughter. now that athena’s pretty much left the nest, soojin acknowledges that she’s becoming an independent woman, but that sure doesn’t stop her from checking in every so often, making sure she’s doing alright.
artemis chae — younger sister
fc: lee suji
age: seventeen
occupation: student (high school senior)
place of birth: seattle, washington
hometown: seattle, washington
current residence: seattle, washington
snapchat streak: 329
some siblings tend to take interest in the hobbies their older siblings participate in, but not artemis chae. to call athena the music girl would make artemis the sports girl. currently captain of her school’s tennis team, she’s athletically everything athena is not. however, she sometimes feels like sports are the only thing she can surpass her older sister in. it’s the good ol’ feeling of living in another person’s shadow. artemis wonders if she invested herself so much in athletics only because athena never did. growing up, she typically had the same teachers her sister previously had, which automatically set a standard for her in their minds. since athena was so smart, so behaved, artemis should be the same, right? the constant pressure of fitting the mold of her sister weighed on her quite heavily, even her own parents comparing the two from time to time. she didn’t take to things as quickly. she always got distracted in class, her mind wandering elsewhere as she doodled in her notebook. however, it was difficult to resent athena. she would never say it to her face, but the girl is everything she could ask for in an older sister. even though she finds her to be embarrassing sometimes, artemis wouldn’t want to change a thing. whatever the two of them wouldn’t share with their parents, they would share with each other, whether it be about boys or complaints about their insecurities and fears in a somewhat lighthearted manner. nowadays it’s less of the latter. athena values artemis’ opinions a lot, trusting each and every song, movie, and drama recommendation that is sent her way. they’ve got a lot of banter, as one can see through the comments artemis leaves on her sister’s instagram posts. they rarely ever get into real arguments, but when they do, boy, can it go too far. if there’s something the two have in common, it’s being stubborn. additionally, artemis is definitely more of a rule breaker than her sister is, acting before thinking, doing most things before thinking, really. athena loves her anyway, though. she feels a sense of protectiveness over her little sister and is willing to throw fists at anyone that tries to hurt her. the sentiment is also the same vice versa. when artemis found out about the whole brandon situation, she was ready to square up. when she left for penn state, athena knew that she was going to miss artemis most of all. there was something comforting about having her around, even with her shenanigans. the moment athena got her license was a revolutionary point for them because it meant that they could go on sister adventures together, which usually meant going downtown. probably getting boba. if someone hears athena talking loudly in her room, she’s most likely on facetime with artemis. they’re just really close, man. some siblings tend to avoid each other in public spaces, but not these two! oh, yeah, there’s also artemis’ dog penelope, but she doesn’t trust athena with her, lowkey. she often teases her about the fact that she has her own pet while athena’s only ever had a betta fish that died shortly after two months. athena threatens to dognap penny.
daehyun kang — first cousin
fc: yoon dowoon
age: twenty-three
occupation: front-end software engineer for ign
place of birth: seoul, south korea
hometown: seattle, washington
current residence: san francisco, california
snapchat streak: 238
the kang family immigrating to seattle when daehyun was four and seulbi was two, athena can’t recall a time without them being around, having lived fifteen minutes away from them practically her entire life. daehyun is the eldest out of the cousins on athena’s mother’s side, and a lot of athena’s interests can be traced back to him. much like athena, he dabbled in music, a part of his high school’s drumline, and before he went off to college, he would occasionally appear in athena’s youtube covers, having a decent singing voice himself. their shared love of music only strengthened their bond, and it was actually dae who had introduced athena to the music of pat benatar and fleetwood mac, for which she is incredibly thankful. they currently have a collaborative playlist on spotify with a plethora of song recommendations for each other. visiting each other’s houses often as they grew up — artemis and seulbi present as well — athena couldn’t help but think of dae as an older brother figure, and she anxiously awaited the next time she was able to hang out with her cousins. also, dae was the person who got athena into video games. she remembers the days when they would sit around and play sonic heroes together, both of their sisters spectating in amusement as their teams would travel through each of the three courses. when they got older, they would expand their horizons, trying out first-person shooters and narrative games. the two of them hold a special attachment to the animal crossing games, though, visiting each other’s towns whenever the got the chance to. during the earlier months of overwatch, the two would play together, dae starting off as a junkrat main, but he got bored of the game after a while, so he stopped playing while athena kept on with it. if there’s one thing that athena gets tired of when it comes to dae, it’s the fact that people have tried to befriend her solely to get close to him. they didn’t even go to the same schools, but through means of the internet and social media, she would occasionally get facebook messages that start off introductory then eventually lead into the topic of her cousin, who one would consider to be swooned over by many. athena makes fun of him for it; it’s hilarious to her as long as she isn’t involved. when he left for university out of the state, she was no doubt devastated. who was going to be there to watch out for her like an older brother would? thoroughly evaluate each one of the boys she associated herself with (which was more endearing to her than annoying and invasive, actually)? despite the fact that they rarely see each other in person anymore, the sense of friendship and family they have has not withered. he even joked that he would fly out to hawaii with his girlfriend to visit her at the villa. athena thinks his girlfriend is really shallow, though, so it’s kind of awkward whenever he brings her up because she doesn’t like her all that much. she thinks she’s with him for his money, an accusation to which dae laughs at in amusement. oh, well.
seulbi kang — first cousin
fc: seol in-ah
age: twenty-one
occupation: student (uc berkeley fourth year)
place of birth: seoul, south korea
hometown: seattle, washington
current residence: berkeley, california
snapchat streak: 87 (bee is a heathen who breaks 200+ streaks, unfortunately)
athena only being a year apart from both of her cousins — at least, the two she communicates with regularly who don’t live in south korea — it’s no surprise that they have their own special bond. their own cousin squad, one could say, which consisted of athena, artemis, daehyun, and seulbi. bee had always been closer to artemis than athena, but they’re still close nonetheless. a huge science nerd, even competing with her high school’s science bowl and science olympiad team, she has provided athena with a lot of the scientific facts stored in her brain over the past several years. the two of them are also foodie buddies, the pair often driving out to different restaurants in the time before athena left to go to penn state. if someone was to analyze the messages they send to each other, fifty percent of them would probably be tasty or insider food videos. the worst thing is that fifty percent of those messages are sent between the hours of 11pm to 3am, leaving the other upset about having late-night cravings that cannot be satisfied. athena is oblivious to this, but seulbi kind of envies the relationship she has with daehyun because it feels like he’s closer to her than he is his own younger sister. there’s even been times when people have confused athena for his sister and bee for his cousin, which did nothing to help the situation at all. however, similar to the way artemis has to deal with her older sister’s shadow, it’s hard for bee to resent athena for it because she’s been nothing but kind to her. calling each other nerds doesn’t count as malicious behavior. it’s just a part of their dynamic, teasing each other over little things something they’re far too familiar with. athena finds bee’s company to be extremely valuable, and she admires her intellect and work ethic. there have been times in high school where she’s turned down plans to eat with athena because she was immersing herself in schoolwork. of course, she got upset whenever that happened, but she was mostly just in awe of the self control. after seulbi started college at berkeley, though, she began to party a lot, probably a result of her newfound freedom, and she would tell athena stories about her interactions and experiences. the replies would usually be in all capital letters, a string of “oh my god”s followed by a much calmer “wow,” lowercase. the shift in character from a goody-two-shoes to a more impulsive, reckless partier is still something she has trouble wrapping her mind around, and bee has entrusted athena not to tell any of their parents about what she’s been doing in college. or how she barely passed her midterm because of sleep deprivation causing stupid mistakes. of course, she’d never tell, but she still worries about bee. a lot. she even makes her feel like more of a mom than she does with artemis sometimes. wild.

task #4: family
happy three months to us, bubba luvs! to celebrate the 3rd monthiversary of our beautiful & loving ohana, we thought it'd be the perfect time to drop another task! this one is fairly simple depending on how you look at it and how you decide to do it. like it says in the title, this task will be centered around your character's family. i wanna say this task won't be emo, but some of y'all just make things emo without even trying so ya know? maybe it'll be emo, maybe it won't.
since the last task wasn't mandatory and because this task is in honor of our three months of being a family, this task is mandatory and will be due on october 25th, next wednesday, but if you finish this task early and wanna post it before the 24th then that's poppin! you guys have one week to complete this  task and if you need help with any of it, then feel free to message us individually or just ask in the ooc because i'm sure we'll all be willing to help. when posting this family task, please tag it with #villatasks004.
under the cut will be more information, all the requirements, and different suggestions as to how you can complete this task. please like this post once you've read it so we know!
for this task, you're basically just writing about your character's family dynamic and family members individually. i don't know what else to say here so i'm just gonna go ahead and list out the requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
A small description about the family's dynamic. this doesn't have to be long (2-3 sentences would suffice), but just write down how the family is. are they close? are they distant? are they broken? are they happy? stuff like that, ya know?
Family members that must to be included are parents/guardians, siblings (if they have any), and *any other family member that's very relevant and/or important to their family life (like grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.). their names and ages should be included as well as a small description about them. the description doesn't have to be long, but it does have to give us an idea about who that person is.
explain the relationship that your character has with each family member. do they get along? did they have a falling out? are they ride or dies for each other? what's up with them? again, this doesn't have to be long and 2-3 sentence would suffice, but however long you need it to be so we can get a feel of what their relationship is like.
* = what we mean by "any other family member that's very relevant important to their family life" is that if they're not apart of their immediate family (parents & siblings), but they're very significant in your character's life, then to include them. this could be the grandpa that they're always butting heads with, the aunt that practically raised them, or the family friends/friends that they consider to be the most family to them. the family member doesn't have to be blood related to be significant in your characters life and a prime example i can think of for this would be how benji is hella tight with the chois. don't include a fellow python, but do include the fellow python's family member (for example, if teags was close to kaia's parents and i felt like they had hella impact on teags, then i'd include them for this task, but they don't so i won't u know). if this is still confusing, please message me or @ me in the ooc and i'll explain it better until you get what i'm tryna say for this!!
SUGGESTIONS:
please keep in mind that these are just suggestions, so if you want to complete this task in a different way you definitely can!
actual sentences like "presley thought he was elvis presley for the longest time until he realized presley was his first name and not his last name and that elvis was no where in his full name."
list their interest/aesthetic like "diego: virgo, into sports, likes cooking, favors teags, hates when presley eats onions in his room, doesn't see what pres sees in kaia, calls pres preston to tease him sometimes."
again, depending on how you do this task, this task is fairly simple and it's basically just describing your character's family and the individual members so we can all have a better feel for your character and their home life. this is a way to also spark some more muse and get you thinking about why your muse is the way they are. some of you know your character's family life to the dot, while some of you probably opened that door, but haven't really expanded on it. now is the time to think about your character's family life and hopefully it'll spark some more muse that'll lead to potential drama for whatever reason, ya know? please keep in mind that this is a mandatory task and will be due october 25th, next wednesday. we can't wait to read all the task and see how you guys decide to complete it! i love you all with everything in me, happy three months!
