Phantom Pains - Chapter 10 Snippet

Part of Jazz’s errands around Gotham didn’t involve the GIW at all. 

She glances behind her once more, refraining from counting the shades that follow her through the city, making sure to keep her song low but insistent, almost yearning. 

Who she is now, what she’s taken up the mantle of in place of Danny, means she cannot simply live in the Realms like she so dearly wants to. 

As a halfa, as a Phantom , she has certain responsibilities she must fulfill if she wants to be left alone. 

This is one of them. 

Gotham is a cursed city. It is hardly the first to be so, and it will never be the last. 

What makes Gotham unique is simple: its curses are alive . 

Its curses live within its people, day in and day out, seeps from the gargoyles that adorn the city buildings like crowns, embedded into the very ground it sits upon, builds itself into each and every brick of each and every damned building that plants itself within the city limits. 

Gotham is a cursed city. Its people are bewitched by the nature of it: ugly and horrible and sad and dirty. 

Its people cry every night, hurt every day, repeat the cycle of violence and greed and toxicity and still, still . 

The people love their city. 

They love their city, the good and the bad and the terrible in between, and then they never leave . 

So part of Jazz’s errands around Gotham was to take them away, to take them home . 

To the Gotham that isn’t Gotham, the Bludhaven that isn’t Bludhaven. 

To the Realms.

Phantom Pains - Chapter 11 Snippet

Suddenly, Sam’s 14 again and turning dials on the Fenton Portal. She’s determined, and scared, and unsure.

Are you sure about this? She watches, outside of her body but drowning inside memories, as a 14 year old Danny steps into that damned hazmat suit for the second time.

No, but you saw those things, those—monsters—ghosts! His voice was chipper, but she could see his hands trembling as he zipped up the suit. She remembers meeting his baby blues eyes and feeling the weight of it, the weight of her friends life on her shoulders, in his smile full of bravado.

Besides, I always wanted to go in here. Who knows what kind of awesome, super-cool things exist on the other side of that portal? He turns and she watches him walk into the dark, watches until the light flashes and she has to look away—

She blinks back to Danny, to Dani and Tucker, to Jazz, still rubbing circles in her back.

Monsters, he had called those ghosts, before he really understood. 

Monsters, Sam thinks, recalling men and women in shiny white suits, of the Fenton Parents, Orange and Blue. 

She doesn’t sleep, she can’t, but she drifts, lost in green.

Why is she the one running?

She was wrong. She was so so so wrong!

She believed her parents loved them more then they hated ghosts. She convinced Danny after telling him for months. Danny finally relented and agreed to tell their parents. They were their parents! How could they do this!

Jazz barely remembered what happened. Danny got two sentences in when their parents erupted into violence and chaos. Now she was racing down the road, her right hand covered in blood and ectoplasm, holding her brothers core.

She barely holds down a sob as she places her brothers core to he chest and gasps as it passes through her hand into her chest. Pulling over she screams as his core hits her heart.

She screams as all of Danny's powers and abilities pulse through her body, synching with her heartbeat. As she rides the high of her brothers power a single thought goes through her head...

Why is she the one running?

Villain Fenton au 3

Danny is the son of the two biggest supervillains in the world. He has weekly get togethers with the legion of doom, and those villains came to every single one of his birthday parties growing up.

Needless to say, Danny has no friends his own age. To remedy this, he creates a persona: James Nightingale: normal high schooler.

Now, his parents and extended villain family all know this. How could they not? He learned all his tricks from them, after all. But they let him have his fun. After all, every villain needed a secret identity.

But now Danny has a new problem. He’s pretty sure that Lex’s clone son, Kon-El, has a secret identity and goes to his school. He can’t prove it, but he’s positive that the teen boy is the same. Conner Kent is an oddity, but he speaks with the same tone of voice as Lex, and has his smile and eye color. But he has those dorky glasses that Danny’s pretty sure he doesn’t need.

Danny’s first goal to being a normal teenager is to befriend Conner Kent.

I feel like Jazz should have her own Bio-dad Aus Now Bruce is a popular choice for most bio dad AUs, but let's add some variety. Harley Quinn is another popular choice, it kinda fits since they have ties to psychology. But let me give you another choice. Harvey Dent. Let's say Maddie and Harvey met at one of Brucie Wayne's fundraiser events, they hit it off, get a bit tipsy, then boom. Jazz's born. Jazz looks so much like her mum that Maddie doesn't even think that Jazz is not Jack's kid. (She does notice some things about Jazz that she couldn't have gotten from Jack or her, but admitting that would probably ruin her marriage, so she employs blissful ignorance.) Harvey, of course has no idea Jazz exists. Years pass, truths come out (or not), tears are shed, life goes on. Now Jazz is looking at schools, and she finds a good one in Gotham, you know, the home of her bio dad. She decides to reach out to Harvey. So, she talks it over with Jack and Maddie and they agree to let her go. Now you could have Jack and Maddie know that Jazz isn't Jacks kid and approve of her reaching out to Harvey, just them being supportive. Or, you could have them not know anything, and have Jazz do this behind their backs as an attempt to have a semi decent role model in her life. Your choice. But anyway. Here Harvey is, planning something (Next court case or next crime) and then, out of nowhere, a kid shows up on his doorstep saying "Congratulations, it's a girl, where's that child support?" And he's just so confused, like how did she find him (Tucker of course) and where were her parents? Harvey who's very concerned: ehh, you do know I'm a criminal, right? Jazz: My mum and other dad have a portal to hell in the basement, trust me, you're an improvement. Harvey who's even more concerned about this kid: ??????? Or you know, Slade Wilson is also an option.

Spy X Family AU

So! Jack Fenton is a Super Spy/Scientist who is working on a mission to investigate Amity Park. The Government has put an Information Blackout on the entire Town, so he has been assigned to infiltrate the town. When he discovers that the town is contaminated with Ectoplasm, he asks to stay there to study the Stuff.

Maddie Fenton is an Assasin who used to work for the League of Assasins, right under Talia, before she deserted the League and ran away. She ran to Amity Park because of how secluded it was, and began working as a Mercenary Assasin to make a living. She is also a Scientist who discovered Ectoplasm and wanted to study it because it reminded her of Lazarus.

They meet while studying Ectoplasm and use eachother to cement their Cover Stories (and get a new study partner).

Jazz in the child Jack adopted from a nearby Orphanage so he could blend in with a "Normal Father" Facade. She is a Liminal with Telepathic Abilities who knows everything about the other two, but keeps it a secret because she wants to psochoanalyze them. Her real parents are unknown, but that's what's fun about making your own AU, you can mess around with it.

Danny is the dog.

Just kidding, Danny is actually a Hybrid child between a Human and a Ghost who was left on Jack and Maddies doorstep as a Kid. They understood what he was immediately and took him in so he wouldn't be taken and experimented on by the GIW, pretending that he was a normal kid (and forgetting to tell him that he is a Ghost to begin with)

He doesn't even know he is a Hybrid for a while, until an accident in the Lab when he is 5 results in discovering his Ghost Form but thinking he just straight up died and brought himself back. Oh and he can see the Future sometimes, just to throw that in there.

I wonder who the Ghostly Father of this Hybrid child who can see into the future and is very powerful? Surely not the Ghost who deals with time and is also very powerful? Sure, absolutely impossible...

DP x DC Prompt #2 - Fenton Cafe

Inspired by that one underground bar post @stealingyourbones

The Fentons move to Gotham to support Jazz at her new college and open up a small cafe on the first floor of their blimp house to earn money. 

Now the Fentons moved to a sketchy part of Gotham cause that’s the only place they could land safely. It doesn’t take long for rogues to slither in looking for easy cash. 

And promptly get blasted by the Fenton anti-ghost Defense System. They wake up to Maddie and Jack tending to their wounds and shoving a tin of fudge into their hands, respectively. The goon/rogue gets booted by Danny after being forced to listen to his parent’s ghost rant for several hours. 

Weirdly, it doesn’t take long before the cafe becomes a safe haven for rogues and goons alike to relax. But then the bats arrive to get a handle on the new ‘villain hideout.’

The Fenton’s don’t discriminate. The bats get the same treatment as the rogues all the way down to the complimentary fudge. No one comes into their house with that kind of attitude. 

It’s a Violence-free unless you’re a Fenton zone. 

But It’s a real party when Danny’s rogues start showing up.

Danny was confused

I mean, Vlad literally outright says his plans right at Jack's ears as clear as crystal but Jack somehow manages to wishy washy away from his head but when the Fentons had to go to a gala at Wayne's manor, Jack was all aware and perceptive around Bruce.

Turns out, they both were relatives and Jack didn't seem to like Bruce. Jack just could smell the "fakeness" around Bruce. But I guess it's because Vlad would actually slip his tongue and be honest, his voice and the way he acts, Jack didn't feel off when he is with Vlad.

But with Bruce? Naw.

Danny looks at Bruce and he seemed nice, a bit *weird* around here and there but he was still nice. But then again, he can't trust billionaires and just as Danny felt that untrusting vibe, he heard a disgusting voice coming from behind him.

"My, oh my, if it isn't the Little Badger?"

Danny narrowed his eyes, disgust was all over his face, "Vlad." he replied with venom.

And that's cue on Jack to wrap his arm around Vlad's neck and starts talking to him cheerfully just so he could get away from Bruce.

To Vlad's dismay, he went along with Jack. And to Danny's dismay, Bruce started a conversation with him. Then to Jazz's wondrous night, her and Maddie were outside to take a breather so Danny was all alone and unguarded and stuck with Bruce Wayne, introducing himself and his ward, [pick ur choice].

Btw, I also wanted for Clockwork to show up, saving Danny but that's just too much lelelelellel.

DPxDC Writing prompt: A new circus is in town appeared seemingly overnight, a circus of meta humans with red eyes and equally terrifying and wondrous acts. It’s suspicious as all hell and even more suspicious when Jason suddenly feels overwhelmingly compelled to join it when he sees the commercial for it on the TV. Seriously, where the hell did this ‘Circus Gothica’ even come from?

Ok hear me out; y’know in that one episode where we’re introduced to Freakshow and he brainwashes Danny but then it’s ok because he’s saved by his friends?

What if Sam and Tucker and been too late? If Danny had been successful taken?

What if no one believed Sam and Tucker when they said Danny had been kidnapped and he’s not a runaway?

And what if he’s been brainwashed for over 3 years while travelling in the Circus, the only people caring enough to find him being unable to do anything about it?

And what if Freakshow made the mistake of preforming in Gotham where the Bats dwelled? And where they’ll take a deeper look into the circus’s suspicious behaviour…

Phantom Pains Chapter 13 - Snippet

“How dare you.” Steph growls out, and though her voice is not even nearly as deep as his, the venom dripping dangerously from her lips more than makes up for it. “You don’t know anything—” She cuts herself off, screams a wordless scream and kicks Batman in the stupid fucking shin. 

Batman, the absolute fucker, doesn’t even have the courtesy to flinch. She heaves a deep breath, batting Tim’s hand trying to comfort her away, pushing him firmly behind her. 

“You know nothing about what Tim has done for you. What Tim has done for this entire fucking family. For Gotham.” She stands taller, and Batman doesn’t falter but she can tell, she can see that he’s realized what he’s done. What he’s said. 

“Tim had to pick up all the fucking shattered pieces of your inadequacies, your mistakes, had to keep you in line the entire time —he put on the cape, played by your rules, saved you from the Time Stream despite nobody fucking believing in him—HOW. DARE. YOU.” 

Steph is apoplectic. “Do not project your fucking failures, your public displays of self flagellation,” she flails towards the sorry excuse of a memorial, a reminder of a time past, Bruce’s box of a billion regrets, “onto someone who has given his youth to the greater fucking good.”

“Jason left on his own.” Steph wants to pull her hair out in frustration. Wants to pull Batman’s hair out of frustration. “He is his own person, making his own choices. That is not Tim’s fault.” She’s shaking from the sheer anger flowing through her, and enough is enough.

“And while we’re at it?” She grabs Tim, blindly, pulling up her Spoiler mask and stomping out towards where the bikes are and flinging her free hand once more towards the tattered Robin memorial, “Making a fucking shrine to someone he hasn’t been for a long time? Reminding everyone that Jason died that day, that he isn’t Robin anymore?” She hops on the spare bike she left, waiting until Tim is securely behind her, making seething eye contact as best she can with a stony unmoving Bruce.

“All it does is fucking push him away, make him think you don’t want to know who he is now.” She pops on her helmet, visor still up. “You ever think about that, Batman?” 

Batman, predictably, does not answer. She scoffs, revving up the bike and popping her visor down. She leaves her anger behind in a cloud of smoke.

Phantom Pains - Chapter 12 Snippet

Danny is sleeping.

He guesses it would be more accurate to say he’s in a coma but sleeping feels like a better fit, considering he dreams. 

Nocturne is here, as he sometimes is.

He and Danny aren’t on the best of terms, exactly, but thankfully there seems to be some kind of unspoken truce going on.

He comes by periodically to report to Danny about the goings on of the waking worlds.

They’re not stories by any means, but it’s better than nothing.

This time, Danny has opted to change his dreamscape into the fields that sit between Elmerton and Amity Park.

He tries not to look into the distance, where a satellite dish peeks over the horizon.

Danny is laying in the soft grass staring up at the stars.

He wants to stop listening to Nocturne and his blunt, matter-of-fact way of speaking.

Like Jazz being a husk of a halfa is just afternoon tea.

Like Sam and Val committing atrocities in his name is as entertaining as a pee-wee baseball league game.

Like Tucker working himself to the bone enough that becoming AI isn’t actually that far fetched is just a walk through the park.

Like Wes grappling with autonomy as a puppet to Her is just a bump in the road.

Like Dani, no, like Ellie forcing herself to be someone else, someone slightly to the left of her, is as unfortunate as leaving clean laundry to hang in the rain.

He’s glad he and Nocturne don’t fight.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to.

Nocturne bids his goodbye, but Danny ignores him.

He closes his eyes, and he dreams within his dream.

Thank you very much!! I think Jazz would find out about her brother's adventures way before Sam and Tucker but wouldn't actually join in the fun until much later. She'd be the punk-rock type with a few semesters' worth of stress to blow through, so the DC universe would be like one of those destruction rooms where you just go apeshit on everything in there. Jazz does not and will not give a shit, college classes have her on the brink of following in her brother's footsteps to the grave, and someone just (foolishly) handed her a bat, so now it's time to go destroy some university president's car.

After only a week of being in the DC world, she's amassed a good-sized gang of college students who are also angry at the world and want to be violent about it. Also, Jazz provides free essential living resources and hosts study sessions sometimes, so that's a plus.

Villian AU. Fentonworks is a multibillion company, and the head of the company, the Fentons, are supervillains. But nobody knows this because they wear full face masks, lab suits, and use voice modulators. They’ve been active for years, and their two kids even joined into their crimes. The Bats can’t get ahead of them or figure out the identities of the villainous family because they had a hacker of their own named Technus. (Tucker). Sometimes another young girl hangs around them: Undergrowth. (Sam). The Bats constantly were trying to get ahead of them, but never could. But the same thing worked in reverse: the Fentons couldn’t figure out who the Bats were.

This began their attempts to demask the Bats. The Bats were skilled at this, and beautifully dodged all demasking attempts for years. It became more of a cat and mouse game for both parties after a while. Neither had an advantage over the other.

That is, until the Ghostbusters(Fentons) disappeared into the lab for a week. Danny had an idea. An idea for a type of acid that wouldn’t harm against skin, but would dissolve any type of clothing. It took them a few days to stabilize the formula, and by the end of the week, they had multiple vials of the stuff. The Bats were antsy; they knew the criminal family were planning something. They just didn’t know what they were planning.

The Ghostbusters plan works beautifully. Jack got Bruce, Maddie got Spoiler, Danny got Red Robin, and Jazz got Nightwing. After that, it wasn’t hard to figure out the identity of the rest of the Bats.

The next day, the Bats continued their lives as normal, but they were looking over their shoulder all day. They were antsy, and fully expected something to happen. But nothing did. No new random person started stalking them, nothing out of the ordinary happened. But they kept their guard up because they knew better. They knew the Ghostbusters would eventually do something. They just didn’t know when or how.

Danny had been best friends with Tim for two years, and Jazz had been dating Dick for six months, so they were both blindsided by the identity reveals of Tim and Dick. Jazz loved Dick so much by that point, but hated heroes, and had tried to kill Nightwing more than once before. She was torn on what to do.

Suprisingly, it was Sam’s idea that they went with. Jazz already had a date with Dick scheduled for that Saturday, so as a test to both Dick and Nightwing, they were going to kidnap Jazz in broad daylight. Jazz couldn’t be in two places at once for the attack, so they used a hologram to fool everyone into thinking she wasn’t one of the Ghostbusters.

Phantom(Danny) broke through the window of the restaurant that Dick and Jazz were at. In a matter of seconds, Phantom had a knife against Jazz’s throat. Jazz played the scared victim, and Dick tried to reason with Phantom for Jazz’s safety. Jazz was thrilled about the outcome, but still allowed herself to be kidnapped.

Unfortunately, none of the Ghostbusters planned for the Justice League to get involved.
