Found something in my notes that I intended to hide?? Anyways, here is the ORIGINAL first scene of Chapter Three: his wanting grows thorns

What a sham, Yuri's youthful appearance! Such deception they preach beneath the apses of their unobservant God, arms raised in teaching - that to die a child is to die innocent! That to die at all means to be raised in spirit to realms beyond the sins of humanity!

Here he stands unbending to the tides of time, month after month, year after year...

Bow at your waist as he reintroduces himself to society; appear appropriately cowed. Maybe he will spare you.

Why did I NOT use this in the chapter despite it being a perfectly fine scene? Simple really. The thought of folks with hurt feelings over religion clogging up my AO3 about yk, fiction, was enough to cow me. Also it deviated a little bit from the point of the plot, so I saw no reason NOT to just boot it out.

That said, I really like the cadence here so I thought I'd post it here on Tumblr anyway! Might as well get smth out of it to enjoy yanno?

Several years after the end of "Blood Communion," Lestat's castle in France has become the vampire equivalent of Disneyland, complete with his son running guided tours. Come meet the characters, including the decidedly apathetic Vampire Armand.™️ Just don't take any unauthorized photos of him,™️ or risk the consequences.

lestat: unfortunately is a father. whether or not he's a good dad is up for interpretation, but he's always ready to father some forgotten kid. claudia? evil of his evil, his pride and joy. rose? loves her so so much, adopts her and gives her a better life than what she could have without him. viktor? highly unexpected child kept secret from him, but you know what lestat does Not do? leave a kid behind. look at this boy, he's three inches taller than lestat and he's never met him a day in his life, but that's his son now and always will be. (not to mention the countless bastard children he might have fathered when he was a mortal man - being the 18th century nobleman through and through, unfortunately).

louis: father is his assigned gender, but he definitely is more of the nurturing figure. becomes a mother whether he intends to or not. he's here, there's a sad lonely child, well, there's no other place he'd rather be. claudia may have not have been the smartest choice but he loves her all the same. rose and viktor were surprises, but happy ones none-the-less.

armand: does not have children, does not want children and should not be left alone with them. he's a better friend to children than parent. please, dear god, don't let him parent.

Wait so Lestat has a biological son? Why was he never mentioned in the show? Unless this happens in a later book/season but can vampires even reproduce since they’re technically dead? Did/will Lestat raise him and does he know Louis too? Will he also become a vampire? I have so many questions istg I learn new book lore every day and it manages to surprise me every time 😭

Oh yes, a biological "almost clone".

And he is never mentioned on the show because he did not exist in Lestat's past... but exists in the future books ("Prince Lestat" and on.).

Viktor is artificially created by Fareed. (Which is also why Fareed's presence in s1 already!!! made me scream and kick my feet, lol.)

Fareed is Seth's (Akasha's mortal son later turned fledgling) fledgling and companion, and both, he and Seth are "healers", scientists and doctors for the vampires. Fareed does a lot of experiments, and one of them was trying to make vampires have sex (by hormonal infusion). Remember, in the books these vampires did not have sex. And, you guessed it, Lestat participated in that little experiment.

The result is Viktor, who grew up with Fareed, Seth and his (later turned) mother, Dr. Flannery Gilman.

Viktor is turned when he is an adult, but he has no fear of the process, nor any apprehension, since he lived with ancient and powerful vampires all his life (Lestat did not know of his existence, Fareed didn't know how to reach him.).

Viktor does know everyone later on, yes.

And... he falls in love with Rose, and they actually get turned after their wedding, not kidding.

Rose is a girl Lestat rescues from a fire by the way, and who he visits and lets grow up. Louis knows of her, because when Lestat is unavailable it is Louis who saves her (from another fire), and brings her to New York (Trinity Gate). And there she meets Viktor.

Louis and Lestat later see them and treat them as family.

I do think that the show is gearing towards their existence in the narrative, since they changed Claudia's backstory to match Rose's (Louis rescuing her), and... well. The change to let them have sex again.... well. Fareed definitely managed that, too. :)))

(I mean, the principal change on the show will not be because of his experiments I guess, but the possibility in canon is definitely there^^)

On Twitter today there was a tweet about Lestat prompting a discussion of a Loustat Dance Moms au and I would LOVE a fic of Lestat being a menace over Claudia taking part in some sort of performance. Whether it’s a dance class, school play, or pageant we all know he would not be messing around and Louis would be stressed out from having to console Claudia bc of the pressure she’s under and talking down Lestat so he won’t cuss out everybody 😭

Also I can’t shake the image of Lestat pulling an all-nighter at the sewing machine to make a young Claudia or Viktor a Halloween costume that he designed himself. I wish I were a talented artist bc the pic or comic of this would be so adorable bye (if any of you see this post and are inspired to draw it can you please tag me?)

One of these days I’m going to have to just start writing fics for myself even if I don’t post them just to have an outlet for these ideas 😩

As much as I do not gaf about Lestat in a vacuum, if in s3 louis is still a major character, and we get to see louis being insane and unhinged in ways he was to embarrassed to describe in s1&2 and we see Lestats thought process of "my beautiful princess with a disorder", if all that happens, I WILL be seated

Summary:

After a sighting of the supposedly-dead Yuri Plisetsky goes viral, our dynamic duo find themselves crossing into Switzerland and meeting an old friend.

Loustat hasn't gotten back together and I support that, I think they need time and, besides, there's a lot of fun things they can do to build up their reunion in a great way... I mean, I think like 30% of the fun is the hype and anticipation. But as someone who hasn't read the books, what do you think will happen in-between? How many seasons do you think it will take to get there? Will it be a series finale kind of situation like Ross and Rachel? Will they have multiple lovers in-between? Will they have relapse one-night stands and/or on-and-off relationships until the end? Will it be a roller-coaster or will they build up to a reunion and then have an established relationship without that much back and forth? I trust the writers and the cast, I'm just trying to get an idea of them so I know what to expect. Hope the question was clear enough because English is not my first language. Thanks.

I think it will be a handful of seasons. But for Lestat and Louis it’s not about love… it’s about getting there, together, again.

It will be a bit of a rollercoaster.

But not because they don’t love each other. There’s also a lot of outside influence.

But Lestat later rescues and kinda raises another girl, Rose, and when he is unavailable it is Louis who comes ro help her (she is raised by mortals) and she ends up being turned when adult - their immortal daughter. And Lestat gets to have a son, Viktor, thx to Fareed’s experiments (who is also turned and actually marries Rose).

There is a LOT on those books. :))
