It wasn't [always] like this, being alone that is. It's a long way comin' this way, being with L'eclaireur and that nonsense.

I always came back to a foul smell whenever I wasn't patrollin', throwing away the mask and everything to drown in my own agony with licker and smoke that did more harm than good.

It was a miserable way to live, but tha easiest one deserving.

Under the crooked smells, being far from the body, and having nothin' in mind but happy dilli-dallis?

That was the dream. A hallucination.

It was easy to fall and never get up again, I mean who would deliberately go into an open flame? And save someone?

I would. I would go a hundred times if it meant the smoke in my lungs prevented someone else from inhaling the dark wisps of limbo.

I still remember it like it twas moons ago, an annoying little fella kept bothering me about my skills. Forcing conversation after conversation out of me.

Always wondering how I was doing.

My patrols. My motivations. My everything.

I still remember yelling at Budgerigar that day, about, "Mind ya' damn business Budgie'gar! Don't it get annonin' chit-chatting with me?!"

I never did get a response because I never stayed long. I didn't want to hear her or see her or just look at that annoying pair of wings.

Yet it didn't matter how hard I pushed the fella, [she] never had a doubt in mind about spending with me. Still don't get it.

I'll probably never will ta be honest.

She does what she wants. If she wanted tha world, wouldn't be surprised, but it always surprised me when she answer my question, weeks later when I was only tolerating her actions.

"I like your answers. They're honest, Rocket."

If I was a little lessa I would've missed tha, 'I trust ya' with you're answers.'

Simple as it sounds. . . I was speechless to say anything to the kid.

Maybe I'll always be.

Because I never understood tha reason why Budgie ever said those words to a fellow like me.
