Imagine going to the carnival with Simon.

Let's say he's on leave and there's a traveling carnival heading through town so of course you drag Simon along with you, naturally. Coerce him into buying you both corndogs and lemon shake-ups and funnel cake and play all the carnival games, and he definitely gets frustrated when he can't land those god damned rings on the bottles.

But then you spot it a few pop-up stands away. A massive stuffed animal that you absolutely need to take home. And just your luck, it's one of those arcade-like shooter games, so you're turning to him with the biggest puppy eyes you can manage and asking him so sweetly to win it for you.

And ohohoooo boy, as soon as you point it out to Simon, he's on a fucking mission. Slaps the money down in front of the vendor, gets in position, and he looks so bloody attractive when he's so focused and effortlessly hitting target after target with the cheaply-made, unreliable toy rifle. He even adjusts for the off-center scope while you watch excitedly behind him.

The vendor has to stop him short before he wins the entire fucking wall of stuffed animals and pool floaties in one round, and then they get the comically large stuffed animal off the rack for you and Simon takes it and turns to you with a smug look, his dark and brooding demeanor contrasting with the cartoonish and comically large prize in his arms.

You take it from him happily as you both make your way back to his car, the silly thing taking up the entirety of the back seat.

"Hope that thing doesn't replace me in bed tonight," he grumbles, amused.

"I'd never," you say to him. (It ends up in bed with you anyway, but he's possessive enough that he'll scrap with the bloody thing to spoon with you. You'll wake up in the morning with the stuffed animal mysteriously having ended up on the other side of the room.)

Your two little hellspawn, D1/N and D2/N. First it was D1/N begging to go to the carnival, and in younger sibling fashion D2/N had to copy her older sister and start begging too. And as soon as those two pulled the puppy eyes on Keegan he crumbled and arranged a trip to the carnival.

“Ah- Don’t pick that up, it’s dirty!” Keegan blurted, scooping your youngest up and into his arms as he pecked the girl’s cheek as she giggled. “Mom/Dad said no picking random stuff off the ground, yeah?” He chided, poking the girl in her tummy playfully as she giggled and squirmed, making you smile too.

You held the hand of D1/N as the four of you walked around the carnival. Everything was going great so far, Keegan bought the girls some odd ice cream thing which they loved, way overpriced in your opinion but it was the carnival, and he promised to win them some toys.

“Daddy!” Your eldest called out and he turned his head as your daughter paused and pointed to one of those games where you shoot water at a target to win a prize, and the prizes were absolutely huge. Like bigger than both your kids stacked on top of each other huge. “You guys want a prize from there?” He asked and both of your girls frantically nodded.

“Keegs- I don’t know how we’re gonna fit that in the car.” You said, but he just looked at you and grabbed D1/N’s hand to drag you along too and you just went with it. The guy running the stand was a teenager, looked absolutely over running the rigged games and he turned to Keegan and asked. “How many games?”

And Keegan looked at the prices and said. “A play for two bucks? That’s easy, man.” And the teen just nodded along as Keegan handed him five dollars. “Keep the change.” He said as he set D2/N down and the girl came running to cling to your leg all smiley and giggly. You knew with his military background he would figure out how to win the rigged games, somehow. He did that on your guys’ first date, you went home with ten fucking stuffed animals and a stupid grin on your face.

Other people lined up beside Keegan and the stand operator explained the rules and Keegan was laser focused, as soon as the bell rang and the games started everyone else was missing the targets but Keegan was getting them all as the three of you cheered him on. “Go daddy!” D2/N cheered, as D1/N bounced up and down excitedly.

The bell went off and Keegan’s stand lit up, signaling that he won as he turned his head to face you with a smug smirk and he accepted his prize and walked over to you two and said. “Here ya go, baby. Next one is for you, D2/N. Got it, soldier?” And D2/N nodded with a mock salute, getting a chuckle from Keegan as he ruffled her hair playfully and D1/N took her prize happily.

“You want one?” He asked you, and before you could respond he added. “Yeah, no. Your getting at least five of them today, honey.” And he pecked your lips as he walked back to the stand to play the next round.

The rest of the day he won every single game that he paid for, winning your girls every single fucking prize in the carnival and he held them all, somehow. He held at least twenty plushies in a huge bag as your girls held their two favourites. He’d won you five of them so far and it looked like he wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. He spoiled the three of you rotten, rotten to the core.

And when your two littles were tuckered out and you guys left, Keegan still lugging around the impressive amount of prizes behind him and you carrying your sleeping girls, you made it to the car and guess what? Keegan had to call Hesh and Logan over because as you warned him the prizes wouldn’t all fit in your car. Life would never be dull with your three favourite people.
