i physically need to see Edwin, Charles, Niko and Crystal dancing the Viennese waltz. Them finishing a case, winding up in a backyard and the sky is clear and Charles and Niko offer their hands respectively to Edwin and Crystal. Them dancing in circles around each other, them changing partners, them laughing while dancing fleckerls and turning clockwise and reverse until they're dizzy - until it's morning
Charles saying to Edwin: "C'mon, mate, I tried to teach you the moonwalk and running man, now it's your turn."
Niko saying to Crystal: "Ohh Crystal, it'd be soo much fun, please! We'll start slow, you can do it!"

Dancing With Visions - Ever-steady Heartbeat - Kazuha - Viennese Waltz
Author Notes: Kazuha being able to dance just made sense to me, but I couldn't figure out when he would've taken lesson. I was actually rather pleased when the wheel of fortune gave him the Viennese Waltz for his dance though. It seems kind of fitting for him. The dance this was inspired by Mark and Courtney’s Viennese Waltz to “Time of my Life” by David Cook on season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance. If you would like to read more of this series, the fics can be found here: Dancing with Visions Masterlist.

No one could ever say that Kazuha was unwilling to try new things. He was a wandering swordsman, son to a fallen noble clan, a sailor, and so many other things. And today, at my request, he was going to be a dancer.
Kazuha had been surprisingly open to my request that we take the dance lessons being held in an attempt at a cultural exchange between Inazuma and Fontaine.
He’d nodded, agreeing as calmly as ever as he’d taken my hand in his with a slight smile, “Well, dancing is something nobility do in other nations, so perhaps it’s only fitting that I learn. And I’m always open to new experiences anyway.”
The lessons hadn’t been overly difficult and had been beyond enjoyable to participate in with him at my side. Laughing together whenever we managed to bungle that exact same step we always slipped up on.
But now it was time for our finals, of sorts. To perform a dance, the Viennese waltz in our case, for the rest of the class.
Well, the rest of our class plus Beidou’s crew, who’d all shown up to support Kazuha.
We stood in the center of the floor, one of my hands resting on one of his between the two of us while his other hand rested against the side of my face.
He inclined his head, lightly pressing his forehead to mine as we got ready to start, his voice coming out as a soft whisper, “Ready?”
I felt a smile flicker across my face as I nodded slightly, somehow still impressed that he could tell that I was nervous without me even saying anything. But that was just the way he was, ever attuned to my needs. And perhaps he could feel the slight tremble in my hand.
“What about you?” I whispered back, not actually answering him as my eyes flickered up to meet his red ones as he let out a chuckle, nodding slightly.
“I’m not sure that I’ll do well, but I’m ready,” He leaned back, almost as if he were trying to get a better look at me before he lifted my hand, pressing it palm down to his chest, right over his ever-steady heartbeat. Almost like he was letting it ground me in the storm of my nerves.
I reached up and rested my other hand on his shoulder, smiling at him as he carefully placed his free hand on my back. Stepping back and forth with me in a slow rocking motion before guiding me into rotating around the floor with him.
I swallowed slightly, doing my best to ignore those around us who watched us in silence and instead focus on him as he shifted my hand that had been resting on his chest over to his shoulder.
He reached down, wrapping his hand that had been previously cradling mine around so it rested against my back as we pivoted.
I turned, dipping under his arm before leaning back and letting him catch me. And he spun me easily as I dipped down towards the ground before straightening and wrapping my arms back around him as I curled towards him.
Just as quickly though, I uncurled from around him. Twirling lightly on my feet before facing him once more, my hands cupping his face as he smiled at me. Stepping back so that his hands slid down my arms before swinging one arm up as we danced. Me shifting behind him in an intricate circuit that had me orbiting him.
And he was waiting and ready for me as I made it back around him, brushing one hand along the side of my face before I stepped away from him. Twirling before reaching out with one hand, letting him pull me towards him in a spin that had me slipping under his arm before we spun together. Not holding on to one another, but side by side.
I faced his back as he reached behind him, holding my hands at his waist as we rotated across the floor together with him looking over his shoulder at me. Half-smiling as he pulled me out from behind him and to one side.
We reentered the standard closed hold once more, smiling at one another as we shifted back and forth in an easy waltz. But it was easy to relax as I danced with him, and by now my nervousness was melting away as we flowed from one motion to the next.
He shifted me, lifting one of my arms first and then the other as I stepped back from him, stretching our arms between us as our hands stayed connected.
We crossed over, me sliding across the floor behind him before we parted, spinning away from one another as we danced separately across the stage. Bracing for the song’s crescendo that had me turning towards him and running his way.
At the last second, I gave a tiny hop, just enough for him to catch me as he leaned forward. Lifting me in a graceful arc with my back resting against his arm before he set me back down as gently as ever.
He stepped to the side, looking my way as if he were waiting patiently for me to return to him. In no way demanding even as we walked a few steps with him following me before we returned to those sliding motions. Me reaching with one arm out towards him and him taking my hand and spinning me back across the stage in front of him.
Our arms crossed as I twisted to look back his way, facing him with a smile on my face as he let go of one of my hands. Freeing me to reach up and wrap one arm around his shoulders as he bent. Grasping my waist and lifting me once more.
We spun across the stage that way, with me leaned back over his and smiling up at the ceiling with an odd sort of giddiness that bubbled within me.
But I couldn’t help it. Somehow, despite how impossible I knew it was, I felt perfectly weightless in this moment. Like Kazuha could never and would never drop me.
He slowed, swinging me down so that my legs swung across him and rested against his leg as we looked towards one another. Our noses almost touching as he smiled at me, his eyes crinkling slightly before he swung me back out before setting me down in a gentle sweeping motion.
He locked his arm with mine as we danced in a circle, our arms holding us together as we looked over at each other. Almost laughing as we danced together before he spun me once and danced away. Leaving me on one side of the stage to smile as I watched him. Hardly able to believe that he hadn’t already known how to dance before now as I smiled after him.
He turned, looking back at me and reaching out with one arm that had me trotting after him and into his waiting embrace, where he lifted me in another gentle arc before setting me down.
I kept shifting though, my motions slowing as I slid around him, and he raised one arm. Looking down at me from around his arm as I stopped just beside him. Smiling at him as I came to a steady stop in front of him slowly and hugged him. His hand cradling the back of my head and pressing me towards him as the applause broke out from behind him.
The sheer noise of their cheering had me laughing slightly as my grip tightened on him briefly before I stepped back, hesitating before I turned to face my classmates and friends even as Kazuha’s hand found mine.
“You did wonderfully,” His words were half-whispered in my ear, and they only made my smile spread as I looked up at him.
Distantly, I wondered how it was that it had felt like we were all alone while we danced when we’d been surrounded the entire time. Perhaps it was just the effect he had on me.
I beamed up at him though, squeezing his hand in mine as I nodded, “And so did you.”

After 6 years I bought a new dancing shoes 🙈 The old ones were literally falling into pieces and I felt like Barbie in 12 Dancing Princesses 🩷🩰 where the girls' shoes were in desolate condition every morning after they spent all night in an enchanted world dancing and dancing and dancing ✨
Tumblr media
Old ones vs. new ones 🖤 I hate to let them go, because they experienced so many dancing adventures with me; they were here when I first entered the ballroom; when I learned the first basic steps of all 10 ballroom dances; when I had my first performance... 🪩 They will always remain in my heart and stored in a box so that everytime I look at them, the beautiful memories will come back to me 🫶

WIP(?) TITLE: Waltz
Okay, so what if, at the end of Ciel and Sebastian’s contract, Sebastian finds himself faltering, and proposes one final dance with Ciel. It’s a waltz. Ciel obliges, awkwardly, really just wanting to get it all over and done with, but little does he know Sebastian isn’t going to let this waltz end.
Their contract has also been fulfilled so Sebastian doesn’t need to continue with the three wishes, anymore. And he doesn’t. They keep waltzing and waltzing around the manor’s ballroom, and they’re not stopping.
Ciel is starting to tire but Sebastian is still keeping the right tempo, leading the dance over and over to music that doesn’t stop, repeating each step as his dance partner grows weaker by each lap around the room.
Ciel will sometimes snap out of his haze, trying to convince Sebastian to let him die, to devour his soul, to end the waltz. Anything. Sebastian only smiles and says something like “Not long, now, my lord”, but this is a lie. Because Sebastian no longer needs to tell the truth. And if Ciel demands him to stop, he no longer needs to listen.
They’ve been dancing for so long because Sebastian doesn’t want to let go. And with the spell he’s cast over the room, keeping candles lit and unmelted, playing music with no source with instruments that don’t seem to wear, making Ciel’s mind float away until he temporarily forgets that this is wrong, forgets what he was thinking just moments prior.
Ciel’s tired, and he wants to stop. But with each plea and with each demand Sebastian grows angrier and more impatient. “Why can’t you just remember the steps? You’ve always been so left-footed. Just remember the steps! Can’t you see what I’m trying to do, you petulant little brat?!”
And then, as if by magic or by the snap of his fingers, the scene repeats itself as though the outburst has never happened, and they continue dancing. And dancing. A final waltz that will never end, because Sebastian isn’t ready to let go.

Dancing with the Stars Season 5 Week 9: Rewatch
Hey y'all. Back for week 9 and I'm gonna say that just like season 4, this is still one of the strongest top 4s that we have ever had as well as one of the strongest semi-finals that has ever been on this show. Each couple is redoing two dance styles. So yeah, let's get started.
Ballroom Round
Marie and Jonathan- Quickstep (Judges' Score=29, My Score=10)- This was so much fun and the best dance that Marie has ever done in this competition. She finally hit on all cylinders. It was a brilliant dance. And the costume was brilliant because it hid some of the moments that were maybe a little iffy.
Mel and Maks- Viennese Waltz (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- This was the actually the Viennese waltz that made me fall in love with the dance. And it is still one of my all time favorite dances. The turns were amazing. The rotation was great. The technique was perfect. And those series of splits? The amount of strength it takes to pull them all off in succession without falling behind the music is incredible. This might be my favorite dance from this couple, period. And that's a hard feat.
Jennie and Derek- Tango (Judges' Score=28, My Score=10)- This is also one of my favorite tangos on this show. I feel like a broken record at this point, but season 5 was such an amazing season with amazing dances. Jennie locked in and didn't allow herself to get distracted by the few problems that did arise (the hair, the shoe and the dress). It speaks to her growth over the season. Also, her frame was so strong for this dance. Her posture has been a constant critique from me, so that was a HUGE thing for it to be as good as it was.
Helio and Julianne- Foxtrot (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- Like I said, this is one of the strongest top 4 that we have ever had. Everyone really came in here and knocked their first round dances out of the park. This was the perfect dance for Helio. He was so charismatic. He was so on top of everything. There were a couple of almost mistakes that he fixed right before they became mistakes. His frame was really good. Wow. This round was similar to the semi-finals Latin round of season 4.
Latin Round
Marie and Jonathan- Mambo (Judges' Score=27, My Score=9)- This was such a huge improvement over their first mambo and it was Marie's best Latin dance of the season. Her hips were moving. Her technique was much sharper and her posture was a lot better. The performance and energy was, as always, top notch. A few things though. She lost some control here and there which led to some funky posture moments and misplaced feet here and there. Otherwise, it was a great dance.
Mel and Maks- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- The fact that these two managed to top an already perfect dance was incredible. Especially if you consider the fact that they were rushed onto the dancefloor seconds before they started dancing. Mel was working that whip. Her footwork was Sabrina-esque (probably the top comment I can ever give to a celeb). The attention to detail here was beautiful. Honestly, this was amazing. Their first paso was more iconic, but this one was so much better.
Jennie and Derek- Cha-cha (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- This is the last dance for these and honestly, it was amazing for them to go out with such a huge bang. It was so clean and tight. Jennie was confident. The spins were amazing. Hips were great. Her posture was good. Her feet were so precise. It all came together in such a big way.
Helio and Julianne- Cha-cha (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- First of all, I wanna say that I think that this was the best Helio ever looked on the show. This red fit? I need is for myself and have always wanted it. Anyway, the dance was several notches above their first cha-cha. Helio was sharp. He performed it incredibly. Julianne's choreo was so so so good. I am just in amazement of how good this semi-finals was. Two amazing semi-finals in back to back seasons? I see why DWTS became as big as it did. This is competition that you just have to see unfold in real time.
My Rankings and Scores Out of 60:
1 Mel and Maks- 60 (30 for both) = Jennie and Derek- 60 (30 for both) = Helio and Julianne- 60 (30 for both) 4 Marie and Jonathan- 57 (30 for quickstep, 27 for mambo)
As I said earlier, Jennie was the celeb that was eliminated. And while it's sad, it would've been sad for anyone to go. No one deserved to go. Everyone had a legit shot at winning. This is the first and maybe only season that any of the final 7 couples could have won and I would have been 100% okay with it. This semis was electrifying to watch. It is 17 years old and I'm still just as invested now. I might need to rewatch season 6 before I do this, but I'm going to write a post about the difference between the show now and the show back then. These rewatches have been the most excited I've been to watch DWTS in years. And it honestly has nothing to do with the nostalgia of it. It's just good. Anyway, the finals are coming up and I'll probably get those done tomorrow. I know season 5's finals were a bit underwhelming in comparison to the semis, but that's okay. I'm still excited to watch that bizarre freestyle from Marie.

Viennese Waltz- Youngsters Like You - Strictly NRC Dancing
Author's Notes: Normally I only post on Strictly NRC Dancing fic a week but I kind of feel like this one is a little weaker than the others so I'm posting two. The featured character in this one was surprisingly difficult to write. But anyway, I watched Disney's Cinderella (animated and live action) dance scenes to help me along with this fic, but I still struggled a bit since I'm not entirely sure that either of those waltzes are actually Viennese. I also listened to Shostakovich's Waltz no. 2 While writing this one. Just like the rest of this AU/series the reader is female for this fic. I hope you enjoy!

I shifted slightly, easily slipping into hold with Trein and allowing the older man to slowly lead me in the whirling but graceful dance that was known as the Viennese waltz.
I’d realized it back when Crewel had first been teaching me this specific dance. The Viennese waltz was possibly the most recognizable dance of all, considering it showed up in so many movies.
And I could honestly say that I was pleased to have Trein as my partner for this performance.
It wasn’t that I didn’t like dancing with the other staff members. Truthfully speaking, all of them were good dancers. But dancing with Trein was somewhat reassuring, kind of like how I imagined dancing with one’s father or grandfather would be.
Plus, Trein was quite experienced with this dance. He’d told me so during choreography practice. He’d apparently danced the Viennese waltz with his late wife at their wedding.
I also had the sneaking suspicion that they had been one of the couples that would dance in their home, so there was no telling how often they’d at least feigned a waltz.
He’d apparently also assisted both of his daughters when they learned to dance. The mere idea of him carefully dancing with the two young women brought a smile to my face.
The usually stern professor taking the time to help his daughters practice.
I had no doubts that he’d been a doting father. It was obvious just from the way he talked about them.
He spun me around easily, ever-relaxed as he led me through the storied steps of the waltz. A dance that he’d apparently taken part in throughout his life. And even now I could say Trein was a good dancer.
More proper and restrained than some of the others I’d danced with, but there was no question as to his ability. I could not have asked for a better person to lead me through this performance.
I smiled slightly as we continued to swirl elegantly around the brightly lit floor, easily matching the odd tune that came across as both romantic and uneasy in nature. Trein’s eyebrows arched slightly, “Something amusing?”
I shook my head, “No, I was just thinking that waltzing like this is actually rather enjoyable.”
A smile appeared on his face, the same smile that had made the laugh lines that I now noticed on his face with slight surprise since he was so often frowning, “Good. Youngsters like you should enjoy yourselves like this. Dancing is meant to be enjoyed.”
Like this… I suppose he met that in comparison to other alternatives for amusement that we ‘youngsters’ might use. He was, after all, frequently annoyed with things like jokes and whatnot.
But he wasn’t wrong. Dances, even ones as old as the Viennese waltz, were meant to be enjoyed. Especially so by the so-called ‘youngsters’ who typically performed them.
We swirled to a stop, and polite applause sounded before we both turned to approach the judges table. Trein to take his seat and me to receive my grade.
To be entirely honest, I already knew I was going to pass.
That performance had been far too easy for it to receive a failing grade. It might not have been an awe-inspiring dance, but it was a tranquil one.
Crowley was already on his feet, applauding as Trein sat down next to him and let Lucius hop up into his lap.
Crowley paid the older teacher a little heed as he looked at me with, well, glowing eyes, “That was a splendid performance, Hatchling! Truly touching. What one would expect if they were watching a grandfather dance with his grandchild.”
Trein shot him a look that went ignored by the birdlike headmaster even as the other staff members attempted to stifle their laughter, “I think I speak for all of us when I say you passed.”
I nodded, biting back a smile so that I could avoid Trein’s annoyed glance as I thanked the exuberant headmaster and headed off to get changed for my next performance.

Yesterday was the pro dancer challenge for "Let's Dance!", the German version of "Strictly Come Dancing" and "Dancing with the Stars".
As usual, performances were fanstastic! The three finalists were Ekaterina Leonova & Paul Lorenz, Anastasia Stan & Evgeny Vinokurov and Massimo Sinato & Valentin Lusin. These three pairs had to dance a short routine to the same song and all of them were awesome as you can see above!
Their three long routines were:
youtube
Anastasia & Evgeny performed a dance to the theme of Vlad Dracula and his lost love. Anastasia was a revelation this season, a newcomer to the show who proved great at working with her celebrity and proficient in choreographing fun routines. And I really enjoyed seeing Evgeny back on the LD dacefloor.
youtube
Ekaterina & Paul danced a tango to the "Mr & Mrs Smith" theme, which also incorporated their own past relationship (they were dance partners and also a couple off the dancefloor) that was mostly ended by miscommunication. Their connection is still obvious.
youtube
Massimo & Valentin danced a routine to "Vivaldi vs Beethoven", which I enjoyed immensely. Massimo wasn't so good this season with his celebrity, but he felt much more energetic in this number. Valentin seemed much more relaxed this season, I found him more likeable.
