Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) 1984
"You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" is a song by the English pop band Dead or Alive, featured on their second studio album, Youthquake (1985). Released as a single in November 1984, it reached number 1 in the UK in March 1985, taking 17 weeks to get there. On the US Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at number 11, becoming their highest-charting single there. The song also reached number 1 in Ireland and in Canada, while in Australia it peaked at number 3, and it charted highly in numerous European countries.
According to lead vocalist Pete Burns, the record company was unenthusiastic about "You Spin Me Round" to such an extent that Burns had to take out a £2,500 loan to record it. After it was recorded, he recalled, "the record company said it was awful" and the band had to fund production of the song's video themselves.
A remix version of "You Spin Me Round" was released in 2003 at the same time Dead or Alive's greatest hits album Evolution: The Hits was released. The song reached number 23 in the UK Singles Chart. The original 1984 recording was re-released on 30 January 2006 because of Pete Burns's controversial time as a contestant on television series Celebrity Big Brother and reached number 5.
"You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" received a total of 90,2% yes votes!

quebec's language laws have protected quebec in a weird way from late stage capitalism. by no means to idealize quebec, i just don't see it wildly talked about how a language barrier has stalled capitalism.
i am sure there are socio-economic papers written on this. like because you need to have french contracts, terms of service and signage, a lot of american companies and global conglomerates don't go to quebec. like a lot of businesses just don't exist in quebec compared to the rest of canada. like franchise restaurants. quebec has a lot less franchise restaurants. oh there are a couple but they are like very specific to quebec and also just in the more metropolitan areas. usually in suburbs you don't have a lot of franchise restaurants.
this is also sweepstakes. because in quebec a mail in entry is required for any sweepstakes. you don't have to buy the product. also a lot of brands need to have their labels in french so a lot of products just don't get to quebec market
also a lot of the population wants to be serviced in french so they prefer quebec companies. this is why there are quebec specific internet and telephone companies. bootlegging is wild popular because there was usually a lag before you could get english content because they needed to make the french dub.
its also why movie rental stores stayed open for a long time in quebec because they catered to french language dubbed movies. like blockbuster did come to quebec but it didn't have the same chokehold on the market. like i rarely went to blockbuster growing up, there were 3 local video rental places that had more titles than blockbuster because the blockbuster business model didn't appeal to quebec residents. especially if you wanted to rent french versions of video games.
anyway, just interesting to think about
#i hate franchises and monopolies#canada#quebec#i remember before couche tard ruined depanneurs there was a dep that had the best juice#i miss depanneur perrette to this day

Robert F. Kennedy Jr : "We're having epidemics of all these chronic illnesses, autoimmune diseases, neurological diseases, allergic diseases, obesity. When my uncle was president, 3% of Americans were obese."
"Today, 74% of Americans are obese or overweight. No other country has anything like this. In Japan, the obesity rate is still 3%. And epidemics are not caused by genes. Genes may provide the vulnerability, but you need an environmental toxin."
"Something is poisoning the American people. And we know that the primary culprit is our food, our changing food supply, the switch to highly chemical intensive processed foods. We have 10,000 ingredients in our country in our foods, Europeans have only 400. If you buy a McDonald's french fries in our country, there's 11 ingredients, by understanding."
In Europe, there's only three. If you buy Fruit Loops in our country, they're loaded with food dyes, with yellow dye, red dye, blue dye, and many other ingredients. The same company makes the same product with different ingredients for Canada and Europe. And at Aged, we don't have good science on all these things. And that is deliberate."
"That's a deliberate choice. not to study the things that are truly making us sick, that are not only contributing to chronic disease, to mortalities from infectious disease. We need to get a handle on this because if we don't, it's an existential threat."
"It's destroyed because we get the marginal tax rate wrong, because we get one of these culture war issues that we've been talking about today wrong. It's going to be destroyed if we continue down this trajectory of chronic disease. We need to fix our food supply, and that's the number one."

The statistics of public health in America are alarming; over 40% of Americans are obese, and around 80% have some form of metabolic dysfunction, including insulin resistance, diabetes, and heart disease. Meanwhile, many of the ultra-processed foods sold in the U.S. are banned or heavily restricted in other countries due to harmful additives, excessive sugars, and unhealthy fats.
We pride ourselves on freedom, but what kind of freedom is it when corporations are allowed to fill our food supply with chemicals linked to disease? When Europe bans certain dyes, preservatives, and artificial ingredients, yet the same brands sell products loaded with them here in the U.S., it raises serious ethical and regulatory questions.
It's time to demand real food, honest labeling, and stricter regulations to protect public health. The current system benefits big food and pharmaceutical companies while leaving the population sick, dependent on medication, and trapped in a cycle of poor health. This isn’t just about personal choice—it’s about a food system that prioritizes profit over well-being.
Ending this silent "poisoning" requires awareness, education, and policy changes.

Jonathan Bailey is always booked and busy!
The actor, 36, rehearsed a large musical number for Wicked while simultaneously filming Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers.
“I’ve got videos on my phone of me practicing on long-haul flights," Bailey says in PEOPLE's new special Wicked edition of practicing his character Prince Fiyero Tigelaar's big ballroom number, "Dancing Through Life," amid his other projects.
At one point in his travels, Bailey was even met with a circumstance less than ideal for his royal role, as an airline lost his luggage while he was traveling from Canada.
Leaving him with just the clothes on his back, Bailey did, however, still have access to Fiyero’s magic dance boots, which were in his carry-on.
Wicked, the upcoming film adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical, stars Ariana Grande as Glinda, opposite Cynthia Erivo, who portrays Elphaba. (The musical’s original Broadway cast included Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel in the roles, respectively.)
Others who are featured in the project, directed by Jon M. Chu, include Ethan Slater as Boq, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bowen Yang as Pfannee and Bronwyn James as ShenShen.
Bailey tells PEOPLE that his character "has that golden glow of privilege where everything comes to him so easily that the most interesting thing for him to do is to rile everyone up."
"He’s never really met anyone who challenges him," continues the star, who landed his first job at age 7 in a Royal Shakespeare Company production of A Christmas Carol and has since appeared on dozens of stages, including the 2019 gender-swapped production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company, for which he won an Olivier Award.

AOC mocked after calling Elon Musk ‘one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met’
Lefty New York City Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed Monday that Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is stupid during a fiery screed that drew mockery from her critics.
“This dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed,” Ocasio-Cortez, 35, said during an Instagram Live video session.
“This dude is not smart, and the danger in the lack of intelligence and the lack of expertise that Elon has, I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we know of,” she added, referring to his efforts to reform government spending — which she and her Dem cronies vehemently oppose.

The South African-born Musk, 53, moved to the US from Canada in the 1990s and quickly formed the multimillion-dollar company Zip2 before starting another firm that later became PayPal.
Using funds from those companies, he built SpaceX from scratch before taking over and dramatically scaling up Telsa, which Musk claims is the first new American start-up to have produced sustainable mass production in the 21st century.

How would tariffs on Mexico and Canada impact the videogame industry?
I am not particularly worried about tariffs. Primarily, tariffs are only applied when importing physical goods - video games are heavily distributed digitally now. If you really still want physical media, then the proposed Mexican tariffs might affect us, if games are actually on the list of products that the tariffs apply to.
Tariffs are a tool historically used to protect domestic production of things. Imagine your local industry can only produce dinglehoppers at a cost of 1000 zeny apiece but the nation of Blargistan can produce the same dinglehoppers at 800 zeny apiece. Buying local dinglehoppers would not be economic, so local dinglehopper companies would get run out of business without government intervention. If the government imposes a tariff on imported dinglehoppers of, say, 30%, a foreign-made dinglehopper would cost 1040 zeny compared to a locally made 1000-zeny dinglehopper, thus allowing the locally made industry to compete within the country.
This gets multi-dimensional when you start introducing other nations into the mix. Blargistan isn't the only country that exports dinglehoppers - Snortugal, Humbabwe, and Flormany also sell dinglehoppers. Depending on the deals made, our nation may wish to apply a blanket dinglehopper tariff to everybody or carve out a deal with a particular country to grant favored trade status. We may wish to renegotiate these deals. The threat of tariffs are one such tool President Trump has been using to force negotiations and other things (e.g. help with the border).
I won't comment on how effective I think it is, but that's how I understand the current situation. Since tariffs are usually applied on a per-product basis I don't expect them to do much to video games as an industry since most countries don't have video games as a primary export.

can you build on the pump being produced for transmascs?
Yes!
Zephyr Surgical Implants is the company that has produced both a pump and a semi-rigid rod specifically for transmascs. Unfortunately they aren't available in the US and currently there don't seem to be plans to get FDA approved, so to get one you'd have to go to (or be in) Canada, Europe, Cuba, or South America to get one implanted (which is generally done at a separate stage months after the phallo penis is already made).
The main benefits of these compared to ones created for natal penises seem to be that they are specifically shaped like a penis, with a realistic glans and a testicle-shaped pump, whereas other implants are just shaped like rods (which doesn't seem to affect natal penises in the same way it does phallo ones because of the presence of erectile tissue).
The Zephyr products are still very new so long-term studies haven't been able to be done, but the studies that have been done so far seem to report good results (phallo.net has links to these)! With luck, these implants will generally have a longer lifespan & lower complication rate than the ones we usually use right now. If you are comfortable watching a video of surgery being done, you can watch videos of the implants being put in here (pump) and here (rod).
#fun fact: some of those surgical videos are accompanied by music which is. an experience!#m.#ask box#phalloplasty

How to Choose the Right Video Production Studio for Your Marketing Campaign
Picking a video production studio for your marketing campaign is a big step. Videos play a crucial role in presenting you and your brand to the audience effectively. You want an agency that understands your brand and can create videos that appeal to your audience.
But with so many options out there, how do you choose? Let's break down what really matters when you're looking for a studio that can bring your vision to life.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a9a1c75a3aa2c0d603a80868c9116c8b/0ae0aca0dab7036a-56/s540x810/09e33dc93e2dee24bda6c90ce7bc229c5d63c152.jpg)
Check Their Portfolio First
Start by looking at their past work. A good video production studio will proudly show off their best projects. Watch their videos carefully. Do they match the quality you want? Look for videos made for businesses like yours.
Pay attention to how they tell stories and if their style matches what you want. Don't just focus on the fancy effects - notice how well they deliver the message.
Ask About Their Process
Every studio works differently, but great ones will have a clear process. They should explain how they'll handle your project from start to finish. Ask them about their timeline, how they handle changes, and what they need from you.
Good studios will ask lots of questions about your goals and audience. They want to understand your brand before they start filming.
Look at Their Team and Equipment
Here's what to check when evaluating a studio's capabilities:
The size and experience of their team
What cameras and editing tools they use
Whether they handle everything in-house
Their backup plans if something goes wrong
Experience with your type of project
Their audio and lighting equipment quality
Think About Budget and Value
Money matters, but the cheapest option isn't always the best. Ask for clear pricing and what's included. Some video production studios might seem expensive at first but include services others charge extra for. Get everything in writing and ask about revision policies and any extra costs that might pop up.
Video is also an investment in the story of the brand. You should take enough time to search for a studio that understands your vision and has the applied skills to make it happen. You should get the right fit so that you can have videos that not only look great but will also help you achieve your marketing goals.

The Future of Filmmaking: Trends and Innovations in Creative Video Productions
The video trend is ubiquitous. Everyone is creating videos nowadays and you can’t overlook this trend as a business. Creative video productions are gaining traction due to the rising demand for storytelling and presentation of content. There are technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) becoming more accessible. Have you tried a VR set of any brand? Apply and Meta are in contention in this case.
The future looks bright for filmmaking. But not quite for professional filmmakers, videographers, designers, and editors. Artificial Intelligence is another thing gaining momentum in almost every field. As a professional, it could be frustrating but as an audience, you are ready to witness some of the most amazing works in terms of creative video productions in the coming times.
Data-Driven Insights Reshape the Industry
I’ve noticed another solid trend shaping the future of filmmaking. It’s the use of data and analytics. Well, this is something your creative team doesn’t have to worry about unless they want to. There are developers and engineers making solutions so that filmmakers can leverage useful data to understand the target audiences. This data-driven approach is revolutionizing the way filmmakers approach their craft, and I expect to see even more innovative applications in the years to come.
AI and Machine Learning Streamline the Process
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) is also poised to transform the filmmaking process. As these technologies continue to evolve, I'm excited to see how filmmakers will harness their potential. They are set to push the boundaries of what's possible in creative video productions.
The Rise of Independent and Micro-Budget Filmmaking
Alongside these technological advancements, the landscape of filmmaking is also being shaped by the growing prominence of independent and micro-budget productions. The democratization of filmmaking tools and the proliferation of digital distribution platforms have empowered aspiring filmmakers and creative video production studios to bring their unique visions to life. This has led to a more diverse and inclusive industry, where innovative storytelling can thrive outside of the traditional Hollywood model. This trend will continue to reshape the future of filmmaking, giving voice to a wider range of perspectives and creative styles.
Adding to these technologies generating improvements in the way movies are being made is the importance of independent creations and micro-budget productions. The emergence of cinematic tools and the widespread use of social media platforms many new filmmakers and creative movie production facilities to produce their own movies and implement innovative ideas. This trend will keep determining the direction of filmmaking in the future, as well as offering more chances for communities to express themselves through different perspectives and methods of creative video productions.

10 shocking stories the media buried today.
The Vigilant Fox
Nov 20, 2024
10 - Joe Rogan ERUPTS on The New York Times for “fack-checking” RFK Jr. on toxic food ingredients while simultaneously proving him right.
“That made my brain hurt just reading it.”
The “fact-check” in question all started when The New York Times claimed RFK Jr. was “wrong” about differences in Froot Loops’ ingredients between Canada and the United States.
However, their own reporting admitted that the U.S. version contains harmful chemicals like Red Dye 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1, and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), while the Canadian version uses “natural colorings made from blueberries and carrots.”
“So they’re literally saying he was wrong, but he was right,” Rogan scoffed. “That is the f—king dangerous chemicals banned in Canada that we’re trying to get rid of in America!”
Rogan continued to question what possible motivation The New York Times could have to “fact-check” RFK Jr.’s efforts to remove toxic ingredients from the food supply.
“Like, what are you trying to do? Are you trying to remove all leftover credibility? Are you trying to k*ll it all?” Rogan asked. “Are you secretly working for the Chinese? Like, what are you doing?”
Rogan’s guest, Jimmy Corsetti, concluded, “It’s probably backed by Monsanto or something.”
(See 9 More Revealing Stories Below)
9 - Scott Presler tells corrupt Bucks County, PA commissioners who tried to steal the Senate election that he is gunning for their seats right to their faces.
"I have a message: peacefully, we are COMING for your seat in 2027 if you don't resign TODAY. I am coming for your seat."
She replies, "Have at it!"

8 - RFK Jr. exposes the disturbing truth about the Ukraine war in three minutes, revealing it as a money-laundering scheme for BlackRock.
In a shocking admission, Mitch McConnell revealed that the hundreds of billions of dollars American taxpayers are sending to Ukraine are actually going to “American defense manufacturers” instead.
“And who do you think owns every one of those companies?” Kennedy asked. The answer is BlackRock.

7 - Dr. Peter McCullough reveals that serious side effects from the COVID vaccine were anticipated by the FDA in October 2020.
“Before the products finished their trials, there was a slide saying, ‘These are the side effects that we anticipate: myocarditis, blood clots, paralysis with Guillain-Barre syndrome.’ And the list goes on and on and on.”

A federal judge approved further legal discovery in a lawsuit by Louisiana, Missouri and censored doctors against federal officials and agencies including GEC for pressuring Big Tech to censor, months after the Supreme Court ruled they didn't have standing for a preliminary injunction.
Alluding to Vice President Kamala Harris's much-mocked verbal crutch, President Trump nominee Judge Terry Doughty ruled he was "burdened by what has been," the SCOTUS ruling.
But he said the plaintiffs showed evidence that is not "impermissibly speculative": a congressional investigation of Facebook parent Meta that found internal admissions it censored the COVID-19 lab-leak theory because it was "under pressure from the [Biden] administration” to do so, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's similar admission to Congress this summer.
The feds are "uniquely in control of the facts, information, documents, and evidence regarding the extent and nature" of the censorship pressure, and the already disclosed emails show "the pains that certain persons and entities went through to hide their tracks," Doughty ruled while limiting further discovery to resolve factual questions for jurisdiction.
"We end with the unignorable reality that regime change is imminent" – Trump's second presidential term – and the "wild" possibility that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., one of the "Disinformation Dozen" targeted by the White House, "may soon replace or control" the defendant Department of Health and Human Services as Trump's nominee for secretary.
But that by itself is too speculative to dismiss the case, the ruling concludes.

Fatboy Slim - Praise You 1999
"Praise You" is a song by British big beat musician Fatboy Slim, and was released as the third single from his second studio album, You've Come a Long Way, Baby (1998). It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and in Iceland, number four in Canada, number six in Ireland, and number 36 in the US. A total of six samples are used in the song. The song features a prominent vocal sample from the opening of "Take Yo' Praise" by Camille Yarbrough, as well as a prominent piano sample from the track "Balance and Rehearsal" from a test album entitled Sessions released by audio electronics company JBL in 1973. That recording session was for "Captain America", sung by Hoyt Axton; a snippet of Axton's vocals humming the "Captain America" melody can be heard in the album version of "Praise You." "Praise You" also features a guitar sample from the opening of "It's a Small World" from the Disneyland Records-released album Mickey Mouse Disco, the theme from the cartoon series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, the electric piano riff from "Lucky Man" by Steve Miller Band, and the drum beat from "Running Back To Me" by Tom Fogerty. In a 2021 interview with the website WhoSampled, Yarbrough said that she liked "Praise You" and its use of her vocals, feeling that Cook kept the essence of "Take Yo' Praise".
The accompanying video for "Praise You" was directed by Spike Jonze with Roman Coppola. Jonze starred in the film, under the pseudonym Richard Koufey, along with a fictional dance group: The Torrance Community Dance Group. The video intro described it as "A Torrance Public Film Production". The video was shot guerrilla-style – that is, on location without obtaining permission from the owners of the property – in front of puzzled onlookers outside the Fox Bruin Theater in Westwood, Los Angeles, California. In the video, a heavily disguised Jonze and the dance group, acting as a flash mob, dance to "Praise You", much to the chagrin of a theatre employee who turns off their portable stereo.
The video reportedly cost only US$800 to produce. It won three major awards at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards: Breakthrough Video, Best Direction, and Best Choreography. It was also nominated for, but did not win, Best Dance Video. In 2001, it was voted number one of the 100 best videos of all time, in a poll to mark the 20th anniversary of MTV.
"Praise You" received a total of 80,6% yes votes! Previous Fatboy Slim polls: #12 "Weapon of Choice".
