can you build on the pump being produced for transmascs?

Yes!

Zephyr Surgical Implants is the company that has produced both a pump and a semi-rigid rod specifically for transmascs. Unfortunately they aren't available in the US and currently there don't seem to be plans to get FDA approved, so to get one you'd have to go to (or be in) Canada, Europe, Cuba, or South America to get one implanted (which is generally done at a separate stage months after the phallo penis is already made).

The main benefits of these compared to ones created for natal penises seem to be that they are specifically shaped like a penis, with a realistic glans and a testicle-shaped pump, whereas other implants are just shaped like rods (which doesn't seem to affect natal penises in the same way it does phallo ones because of the presence of erectile tissue).

The Zephyr products are still very new so long-term studies haven't been able to be done, but the studies that have been done so far seem to report good results (phallo.net has links to these)! With luck, these implants will generally have a longer lifespan & lower complication rate than the ones we usually use right now.
