"the sun is always far too bright, i hate being shut up all day." she missed winter, at least most days it was cloudy enough that she could enjoy the city, unlike now, where she had to stick to the outdated vampire rules.

"don't speak about things that you clearly are misinformed about, it'll help you keep your tongue in the future." she nearly hissed, only squeezing harder around rosalie's throat, emphasizing her words with each second that she got closer to ripping her throat out. "aw, i'm so scared. your family, splintered and fractured here, coming after me? terrifying. you don't have the numbers you need, i can do whatever i like, rosalie. don't you understand that?" she curled her fingers more. "you won't know who they are to tell them what happened." and in a flash, another hand reached up as her fingers moved, finally ripping rosalie's head from her neck, sounds of cracking marble filling her ears before the only sound left was a crackle of a fire.

"if he wasn't replaced then he must've been forgotten." rosalie snapped back, seeing that she had clearly struck a cord with her statement. it was futile, rosalie wasn't strong enough to fight back against victoria. while she knew how to fight, she'd learned it all from jasper and it'd only been out of necessity. she wasn't like the rest of her family, apt in combat skills. but rosalie would be damned if she didn't go down fighting. even if it strained to speak against the grip at her throat. "if you hurt her, i don't care what happens to me, victoria, they'll come for you." even if rosalie went down herself, the rest of the cullens would be there for her. "they'll kill you."

The Cullens

Alice likes parties, she likes decorating, she likes to have a reason to decorate the house for a party. And nothing says parties, decor, and finding a way to be modern, somehow sexy, yet tasteful and teaming up with Esme like Christmas and New Years' Eve. Plus the sun sets much earlier so she can go shopping at human hours, use atmospheric outdoor lighting, and have all sorts of seasonal fun that simply doesn't work the same in the Summer months (and Spring and Autumn are... so wet...). It's December for Alice.

Carlisle likes when he can be out longer, when the snow is still pristine and when there are happy festivities happening. He would uncomplicatedly be a December person, except the festivities are... dampened... by the family and partner violence and suicide attempts he gets at the end of the month. He's a December person who sees it as the time he has to save more people than usual, and also the snow is pretty.

Edward is for the fall months, because fall is such a beautiful time of year and more importantly he can think gloomy thoughts about nature following the cycle of life, every year it comes to life then dies again while he lives on. November... the twilight of the year, that brief flash of rapidly passing weeks just before the darkest time of the year and the death that is winter rolls in.

Emmett loves Christmas. There is no doubt in my mind Rosalie does a "Happy birthday, Mr. President" routine, and that they have some horrible lane about making their own fireworks for New Years' Eve. December is awesome, bro.

Esme loves family, festivities, and the joy of exchanging gifts with loved ones. Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but so too are the days leading up to Christmas, when she can put out the decorations and have a meaningful way of marking the passage of time for a few weeks. December.

Jasper enjoys the happy emotions coming from his family. December.

Renesmee's concept of the passage of time is completely warped. She dutifully says "December" when asked about her favorite month because that seems to be the done thing in this family.

Rosalie has thoughts about how Christmas is a time to be spent with family, specifically with children who believe in Santa Claus and miracles, and while she has a family there's a very central part of Christmas she'll never have, just as she can't enjoy any of the little things that made Christmas what it is, such as gingerbread cookies. It's another painful reminder, but so is her entire life. Renesmee helps heal this for her, in that there's now a child she can have many if not all of these Christmassy things she wanted to experience with, and also in that I somehow know several years of Christmases with the entire extended Black-Clearwater-Cullen-Swan family will be such a clusterfuck, everyone except Bella sensing the tensions, that Rosalie will be completely disillusioned as to what "family Christmas, just like the humans have it!" will never be appealing to her again.

James & co

Victoria prefers whichever month of the year rains most in whichever region of the world she's in. Rain washes away her scent, she can hide, and that makes for a happy Victoria.

James shares Victoria's preference, as more rain makes the hunt more difficult and he loves a challenge

Laurent thinks these people are fucking weird, rain ruins his hair and clothes and can we get a house? Laurent would like a house. ("How badly" is a question he must ask himself chez the Denali.)

Has anyone figured out the Twilight movieverse timeline? It's way more confusing than it has any right to be.

For starters, Twilight (2008) starts around two months later than when the book begins. (Which is January) And is presumably set in the same year as it's release.

According to the official wiki, James is killed in Spring 2008 (in movie).

Okay, I'm with it so far. First movie takes place in 2008. And the rest follow the timeline of the books, but in 2008/9 instead of 2005/6. Right?... Right?

Bella's 18th birthday will be Sept. 13 2008 instead. But that's on a Saturday. And Bella went to school on her birthday and on the day after.

Wait, doesn't Edward say his age in New Moon? He does!

And we know what year he was turned and how old he was when he became a vampire.

Some quick math. 1918-17=1901. 1901+109=2010.

Wait, does the start of New Moon happen in 2010? Did Twilight happen in 2010?

Let's check Bella's birthday again. September 13 falls on a Monday in the year 2010. So she'd be at school on her birthday and the next day.

Riley's wanted poster in Eclipse (2010) also gives a clue.

Riley's birthday was changed from October 8, 1986 to April 10, 1990 for the movie. According to his missing person poster, Riley was last seen on Friday, May 21, 2010. And Charlie and Riley's parents have been searching for him for over a year. So, Riley must've been turned in to a vampire in 2009? And in the book timeline, Victoria changed Riley around a month after James's death. Is that the same for the movie? That would mean the Twilight movie, and the beginning of New Moon, takes place in 2009. But that math doesn't math with Edward's age. And doesn't fit Bella's birthday.

If the date that Riley was last scene coincides with the date Victoria bit him, then that works with the idea of Twilight happening in 2010. Riley would have been turned in May 2010 and James would've been killed in April. Bella's 18th birthday would fall on Monday, September 13, 2010. Then most of the rest of New Moon would happen in 2011. As would Eclipse and the Breaking Dawn movies. Which works out with the date printed on the wedding invitations.

But back it up to Eclipse for a minute. Rosalie's newspaper, the one she reads as Carlisle wraps Bella's hand/wrist. It's Friday, June 18, 2010.

This newspaper sets Eclipse in 2010. So the wedding invitations should have been dated 2010. Or the newspaper should be dated Saturday, June 18, 2011.

The movieverse timeline is pretty unclear, but I think there's enough to support that they mainly take place in 2010 and 2011.

As I'm rewatching the fight scene at the end of Twilight, I can't help but realize-

This looks so freaking good. Like, when it comes to vampire aesthetics, the 1st movie is just top-notch. It has so many feral elements that no other Twilight movie has. For example-

RUBBING YOURSELF AGAINST FUCKING TREES AND THEN SMELLING EM TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE SMELLY ENOUGH.

...Which only strengthens my belief that vampires, indeed, use this method to mark their territory. :3
