how he shows love:

acts of service - law is a silent lover. words have never really been his strong suit and he often has a hard time physically conveying his emotions. his silence, however, is not synonymous to lack of effort. law shows up for you physically. he does hundreds of menial little tasks for you (when he found the time to get them done, you'll never know). whether it's pre-packing your lunch, having your meds ready next to water and breakfast when you wake up, drawing you a warm bath, taking care of your laundry and other chores. and he'll never mention it at all, you'll just happen to find these things all done on your own. he'll constantly brush of your thanks and appreciation with a mumble of "it's nothing.. i was already doing it anyways..." but one restless night, you catch him in the act of secretly folding your laundry, a rare sight you savored and committed to memory.

quality time - it doesn't matter if the two of you are together but focused on your own tasks, attention divided from each other, or if you're wrapped up in each other's arms. law truly doesn't mind either way, just knowing that you're close by is more than enough for him. and while the captain of the heart pirates may do his best to act otherwise, he definitely prefers having you a minimum of an arm's length away. of course, law does enjoy actively finding activities for the two of you to partake in together or places to visit and explore, in his opinion, it's all worthless without you to do it with.

how he feels loved:

words of affirmation - as much as it flusters the captain, your small whispers of praise and affection mean the world to him. while law may have a hard time returning the gesture, the way his entire body seems to relax at your words doesn't go unnoticed by you. until finally just the melodious sound of your voice instantly brings him comfort, something that unconsciously conditioned him to unwind. law is the type of man to take every comment to heart, as if he's collecting and saving them in his very being. so your sincere admiration and words of encouragement hold much more power than you'll ever know, fueling him to keep going.

physical touch - despite the limited conversations the two of you have shared about the topic of his rough childhood, it is abundantly clear that law never fully got over a lot of his abandonment issues. he only truly feels safe when your arms are wrapped around him, lips pressing gentle kisses against his forehead as you softly stroke his raven locks. every kiss and hand hold is treasure in his eyes, and if he could freeze time, he'd live in those moments forever. while the crew of the heart pirates may roll their eyes and poke fun at your sickly sweet nothings and other expressions of pda, they will never comment on your physical closeness to the captain. your hands often resting on his thigh whenever the two of you are sitting down, or on the smalls of his back as you two stand together, are acknowledged but never discussed among the crew. though shachi and penguin can often be found with their faces almost turning blue trying to hold back addressing the amount of times you'll walk into meetings, just to stand behind law's chair, resting your chin of the top of his head while you rub his shoulders.

-like law, this man is also a starer. however, unlike law, he's much more discreet about it. you never noticed zoro's eyes on you, in fact it really felt like he was never looking at you. while you, personally, didn't catch his glances, everyone else was painfully aware of them. when you weren't around the crew would tease him about his crush, and he'd vehemently deny it, mainly because he refuses to believe it was so obvious.

-this man is soooooo protective. anytime you and the crew encounter enemies, he refuses to leave your side, wanting to 100% ensure your safety. he's so protective that you literally never get any action during combat, until one day you snap "zoro, please! i appreciate your concern about my safety, really. but i can't practice and perfect my combat skills if you won't let me fight!" he only agrees to your request if you agree to train with him.

-training with you was initially about your safety.... but when he saw how focused and determined you looked, when he could get up close and correct your form, he could barely hold himself together.

-when its your turn for night watch, he'll come out and watch with you. but he wont admit its because he wants to spend time with you. zoro plops down next to you on the deck, sake in hand, "zoro, you don't have to stay out here with me, get some rest." but he'll scoff at you and say "the weather's nice tonight, just wanted to enjoy it for a bit". before you know it, the sun rises.

-getting this man to tell you about his feelings is like pulling teeth 😭 he just has a really hard time expressing his feelings and verbalizing them. it takes him getting so jealous for him to finally confess.

you look at jisung in confusion, wondering what the hell just came out of jisung's mouth. he was hunched over his cereal when he said, "oh. i couldn't think of one nickname, so i decided to give you them all!"

soon, what seemed like an irritation, became another thing for you to look forward to during your day. you woke up every morning wondering what crazy nickname jisung was going to give you the next day.

the prize however, went to 'better than felix's brownies and any lemon meringue pie.' you really regretted introducing jisung to baking reality tv.

"you do-" jisung hesitated, "you do like these nicknames, right? like they don't annoy you?"

"no," you giggle, "they don't."

placing your forehead on jisung's, you ease his tensions by saying, "i like them. but not as much as i like you."

lee felix.

felix paced around in agitation. "okay, now i feel bad," you whined, "i didn't even put this much thought into a nickname for you. everyone called you sunshine, so i did too!"

"aw, don't feel bad," felix called out in his restless stupor.

you walk over to him and wrap your arms around his waist, resting your chin on his shoulder. initially, he is tense until he relaxes against you and lets out a sigh.

"hey," you say softly, "it's ok."

"no," replies felix, "it's not. it's like a relationship rite of passage."

you roll your eyes at him. "felix. you help me grow and bring out the best in me. that's proof enough of you love. you don't need a nickname to show it as well."

but felix is lost in thought. he mutters something under his breath and he turns to face you, visibly lighting up.

"that's it! i'm sunshine and i help you grow, so that means that you're my..."

you initiate a little drumroll with your feet.

"sunflower!" he finishes triumphantly.

"we need to talk."

your heart sunk into your stomach the moment he voiced those four words. nothing ever good came from a conversation succeeding that ill-fated sentence.

"what is it," you ask, hoping he doesn't notice the nervousness in your voice.

"we have to talk about the terms and conditions of our relationship."

"we had a contract?" you ask in confusion.

seungmin looks at you with a glint of mischief in his eyes, "an unspoken one, yes. as per what's prescribed, i need to have a nickname for you. i do not, however, have a nickname for you."

relief washes over you, soon replaced by a little bit of exasperation. who on earth would start a conversation so simple with a sentence so daunting? kim seungmin, that's who.

"well," you ask promptly, "what's my nickname?"

"i have thought a lot and," seungmin smirked, "you don't deserve one."

"hey," you laugh, "that's not fair!"

"but you love me either way, sweetheart."

"i have made an extremely important decision," jeongin announced promptly. he walked over to you and sat down, a wide smile adorning his face.

"innie, you said that yesterday when you finally decided between glazed or barbecued chicken after pondering over it for twenty minutes," you reply endearingly. jeongin had a bit of a... indecisiveness problem.

"but, honey, really," a smirk started to play on his lips.

"honey? that's new," you ask in confusion. the way he said it with a low tone made warmth (and ungodly thoughts) seep into your body.

"exactly, yeobo," he said, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into his chest.

"so. what was the decision," you're beginning to get slightly impatient, your curiosity getting the best of you.

"from now onwards," he haughtily proclaims, "you are no longer to be referred to as y/n. you are now christened as honey or yeobo, depending on my mood."

you laugh into his chest, mocking his extremely poor british accent and blushing at his newfound names for you.

Modern AU where Kaz follows the mega-corporate business CEO Pekka Rollins (who is secretly in the mafia and killed many an underling like Jordie who dared to step out of line) from country to country while studying and collecting his Crows, only to hire ex-druskelle convict Matthias Helvar to mug Pekka and punch him in the teeth. When Pekka goes to the hospital (the damage is six broken ribs, a busted nose, four knocked out teeth, and bruising/scrapes) his nurse Nina Zenik offhandedly recommends Dr. Brekker as the man to fix his smile.

And then Kaz proceeds to legally torture Pekka for hours and make his front teeth slightly uneven at the end of it all - not enough for Pekka to officially press charges but juuuuust enough to fuck with him. His dental assistant, Wylan Hendriks, seems all too pleased to foot him the bill at the end of it all. As Pekka is leaving the office in embarrassed rage, he runs into his "business" partner Van Eck, who was recommended the establishment for his veneers. Pekka doesn't care enough to intervene, and the quest for the Crow's revenge continues as Van Eck falls into the same trap Pekka just clawed out of.

The worst part is Brekker did a damn good job at fixing his teeth, and now Pekka keeps getting compliments on his smile and every time it makes his blood boil.
