I still can't believe there are people out here trying to pretend like Hunters in RWBY aren't just fantasy cops.
Yes, RWBY is pretty freaking bad copaganda but I'm not actually one hundred percent against the idea of them being fantasy law enforcement if it hadn't been done in the most copaganda way possible, because fiction doesn't always match reality. But like??? There are people saying they're not cops and there's nothing copanganda about RWBY???
Let's not pretend here guys. They are badge carrying law enforcement officers who work for the government and can arrest people. And then RWBY fans are gonna turn around and be like "Cait and Vi from Arcane are worse than Blake and Yang because they're cops." Blake and Yang are cops! They're fantasy police officers by another name. This is more proof that people will just let RWBY get away with anything that they would be against in like any other thing. This is why even if a RWBY re-write does the same things the actual show does, they still get hate from the same people who are against any and all criticism of RWBY.
People are really out here watching a different show, because they just change whatever is in RWBY that doesn't line up with their made up concept, and then accuse rwde posters of lying.

Sometimes you have to write it down to get it out of your head.
Hello, it's been a while.
So I've spent the last ~33 hours trying to wrap my head around the ending to Arcane (If you haven't watched Season 2 then vacate this post NOW).
*****************************************************************
My brain has been running full-tilt to try and understand what I witnessed. Most specifically the last scene with Caitlyn and Vi in the epilogue.
Before I get to that though, I feel like I need to provide some (a) context and (b) background on why I just didn't get it originally.
To start off with I'm a Caucasian, cis-het, straight, single man. That makes me not even close to the target audience for the portrayal of this relationship and as such I've always relied on takes from queer reactors to make sure I was actually getting it. This time around we can thank Kelly and Ceni ( https://www.youtube.com/@XiaoLongMedia ) whom you might recognize from RWBY or LVOM. I've followed their work for years and have always enjoyed their content.
For some rather personal context, my personality - or at least my interpretation of it - is very close to Vi's. I'm very avoidant (I think less so now, but when I was younger I was avoidant to the extreme), assume people's words are largely worthless unless they have the actions to back them up, and have similar love languages (physical touch and acts of service). Since I see so much of myself in Vi, it becomes easier for me to put myself in her shoes and understand her reactions.
I'm going to start at S2E4 because we all knew the breakup in Act 1 was coming. When I first saw that opening scene with Maddie and Caitlyn I legitimately thought that was it, there was no way back. Caitlyn had gone so far off the deep end that there was no possible redemption. I thought to myself "If I was Vi I would legitimately never want to see her again." However that thought changed dramatically over the course of the week between Act 2 and Act 3. Let me explain, and again it will require some more personal context.
I've only had one serious romantic relationship in my life, from when I was 18 to 21. She was younger than me and for the first year and a half to two years it was great - or at least I thought it was. Remember this was in my omega-avoidant phase when I blatantly refused to communicate in a healthy way or talk about my feelings. Anyway, I forget the exact timeline but she eventually committing what felt like an act of betrayal at the time (i.e. sleeping with someone else) and it was a while before I found out about it. To make matters worse I blamed myself (in retrospect this was obviously a stupid way to think but I was 20 and stupid) because it happened at a party that I had left because I needed to take care of some chorse at home. I was upset obviously but the first time I saw her again after I had found out I just didn't fucking care.
You see where this is going?
One of the common criticisms I've seen directed at the show and the writing of Vi in particular is that her trauma is never addressed on screen. I have a hot take here. I think that was intentional, but not in a neglectful way. I think Vi as a character was simply never in a position where it could be addressed in a healthy way, which led to her unhealthy coping mechanisms culminating in her throwing herself at Caitlyn in S2E8 after Jinx gives her permission to be happy.
It took me a second to understand what motivated Vi to all but declare her love for Caitlyn in that moment - and let's be honest they do love each other even if the words are not actually said - I actually had to go back and listen to Caitlyn's line a couple of times and then I got it. Caitlyn wanted to give Jinx a second chance but she knew that Vi had to be the one to deliver that chance so that Jinx could give Vi that permission to be happy. Caitlyn let Vi take the cell keys, removed the guards, and let Jinx leave without a fuss. This was Caitlyn telling Vi that she was giving Jinx - and by extension their relationship - a second chance without saying those words. Instead she did it in a langauge that Caitlyn knew Vi understood - actions.
So I understand why Vi was able to forgive Caitlyn of everything in that moment - that's what her character has always been all about. Trying to save everyone, even from themselves.
Which brings us to that final scene.
I spent a long time trying to figure out why Caitlyn didn't appear happy when she was cuddling up to Vi, and why she used the words "still in this fight". I think the second one is easier to answer than the first so I'll start there. Fighting is just a language that Vi understands and judging from Vi's response, she seemed to understand the question Caitlyn was really asking "Are you going to stay?"
As for the look on Caitlyn's face, I think we know that she knows Jinx is alive but doesn't know where she is (we as the audience obviously know that Jinx sailed off on an airship somewhere - the prevailing theory is she ends up in Demacia). I think the look on Caitlyn's face is twofold. First (and this is just what it looks like to me) that looks like a possessive and protective Caitlyn who wants to make sure that Vi never gets hurt again. Second, I think Caitlyn feels guilty that she knows Jinx is alive but is scared to tell Vi because she's afraid Vi will immediately chase after her sister.
I don't think what Vi and Caitlyn have now is what could be called a 'healthy' relationship, certainly given how it began. But it could definitely get there.
The only other thought I want to offer up is this: We know from S2E7 that there are parallel universes. In any one of those universes Vi and Caitlyn could be together in a happy and healthy relationship and I think that's worth celebrating even if we didn't get everything we wanted from the version of them that we saw on-screen.

I'm not sure if I already made a blog post about characters I believe to be part of the Asexual/Aromantic spectrum community but I'm bored and AO3 is down and I have a headache so I can't even attempt to write any of my fanfictions like I want to so here we go.
Starting off with my baby.
Ikkaku Madarame. I personally headcanon this wonderful man to be Demisexual. I would say he is aromantic but honestly I feel like a man who writes poetry. Yes, he writes poetry, and makes accessories for children, has a romantic side.
In the anime he has not once expressed interest in anyone, be it the most attractive woman or man, and yet... he is so in tune with Yumichika that he can recognize his laughter from across a battlefield while in the midst of a fight. So, yes, he is demi for Yumichika. The only one who he fully trusts and respects, such is the ways of a Demisexual.
Moving on from this wonderful specimen of a man... we enter the world of dreams.
Yes. Dream of the Endless. The man of everyone's dreams and nightmares. The dude is so much of a Demisexual that it took thousands of years for him to even admit to himself that Hodge is his friend, let alone the potential of a future love interest. Yes. I know he has had romantic relationships in the past, and that he had a kid with a gorgeous woman. Demis still have sex. He trusted her enough that he came to her aid to save her. He just wants intimacy with someone but it takes him forever to trust and let someone in.
Also, the dude has canonically turned into a black cat. Cats don't trust as easily as dogs.
Anyways. Moving on to a character that is canonically AroAce.
Isaac Henderson and this other kid that I don't know if we ever got a name from.
I, too, would prefer books over being in a relationship but alas... with my personal health issues, I need someone to be somewhat intimate with.
Now... I have watched many, many shows and movies and I try to find myself in so many of them. I know. Weird. Trying to find relation in entertainment to better enjoy something. I can still watch and read things if I don't have someone like myself in there. Anyways...
Going into the world of MDZS.
Nie Huaisang.
This man is 100% an Asexual who thrives on finding queer platonic friendships.
Also. The guy has hyperfixations in birds, fans, art, and getting revenge for his older brother's murder.
I love him. I can relate with hyperfixating, I cannot relate in the art of revenge. His level of dedication is unmatched.
Moving on.
Arcane is something I'm currently obsessing over so... let's dive into the world of headcanons since everyone has a million and no one knows for sure what is Canon.
Viktor. My man. The Jesus of Hextech.
It took getting rid of his emotions to realize that Jayce was the only one he ever wanted but it was too late. Such a doomed situationship. Anyways. I think of him as an asexual who valued companionship and wanted that intimacy. Again. With Jayce. The himbo who didn't realize what he lost until he lost it twice.
Hot take... and I could be completely wrong... but Jinx, herself.
I think if it came down to it. She would have sex but she hates physical intimacy. To the point where the only ones she willingly ever approached for human contact were Vi, Isha, Vander and Silco. Her found family that she had no romantic or sexual feelings for. I know alot of people ship her and Ekko. I can see it. But the girl is traumatized and has so many mental health problems. Maybe more of a Gray ace/Aego spectrum?
Speaking of. Let's talk about Silco.
I think he would be Asexual. Similar to Jinx if I'm being honest. He would be open to that level of intimacy, with the right people. But he has never had that kind of connection with anyone besides, possibly Vander. But... that situationship ended in tragedy and bitter feelings so... yep. Welcome to the Ace community, my love.
Ignoring that and moving on...
RWBY.
Miss Ruby herself.
Honestly. She needs that level of connection and trust before she would even consider that form of intimacy. If she ever thought about it. Which. I don't think she does.
Ending with my main girl... Neopolitan, would be a Demiromantic Ace. She has romantic feelings for Torchwick. But that's it. Girl really chose to become one with a mystical tree so she could finally move on from him.
There are plenty of more. Penny Polendina from RWBY. Castiel from Supernatural. The only one confirmed on this list is Isaac but, I mean. Come on. Look at all these neurodivergent, lovely people and tell me otherwise.

What is it that causes people to determine whether a story is a "deconstruction" or has deconstructive elements in it?? There doesn't really seem to be any specific rhyme or reason behind how it works, and half of the time it feels like the main reason people see something as a deconstruction is because some other big YouTube personality tells them, and then they just regurgitate that as fact.
so here’s the thing—and it’s a recurring pattern, i don’t mean to pick on you specifically for it—but i dislike this mindset that all poor or unsound or bad faith or even just clumsy analysis in fandoms is the consequence of people being idiot sheep mindlessly regurgitating what the big bad youtubers say.
i think i’ve made my position vis-a-vis fanon ‘analysis’ pretty clear (namely that most fandom-produced meta isn’t analysis because fandom is transformative by nature and the approach to the text is different, and that my personal distaste for fandom is predicated on fandom’s cultural disregard for the text, hostility toward real textual analysis, and the refusal or failure to distinguish between analytical and transformative engagement which socially rewards nakedly antitextual “analysis” if it taps into popular fanon).
i do not watch youtube video essays. i have never felt an interest in doing so. i cannot imagine what the appeal could possibly be. i would, frankly, exist in a permanent state of Not Thinking About Youtube were it not for the rwby fandom’s inexplicable fixation on youtube video essays. i feel an unshakable and possibly baseless conviction that you folks are the weird ones here, not me.
anyway no people don’t slap the ‘deconstruction’ label onto everything willy-nilly because they’re idiot sheep who’ve been brainwashed by the evil youtubers. they do it because ‘deconstruction’ was an ill-defined and nebulous textual approach even before it percolated into fandom and sparked off the trend of narrative cynicism which is endemic not just in fandom but in the modern entertainment industry itself, largely as a consequence of executives prioritizing profit over artistry and rampant anti-intellectualism.
to deconstruct is to disassemble and examine and fandom prides itself on both disregard for the text (“fuck canon!”) and strip-mining stories for spare parts to glue together into the mold of fanon archetypes. and you’re surprised that people in fandom widely misuse and misapply the concept of deconstruction?

(Hasn't actually watched Rwby since V5) BUT YO, I'M LOVIN ALL THIS RUBY ROSE COMMENTARY JDJDJDJDJDKDK.
Yo, youngest brother here, I 110% get that post you made about Yang giving Ruby the #Look. Like you're trying to express your exhasperation and exhaustion and you get #TheLook. That shit hurts.
Also yo, that's the #Bitter Look ya'll, omg.
The Jinx and Vi and Ruby and Yang vibes are tasty up in this bi- WOOOOOO
Corruption arc for Ruby when? That'll get me back to the show kdjdkskks
YOU GET IT, YOU GET THE #LOOK
It's how you know they don't mean to invalidate your feelings when they look at you like that, but it just makes you feel so small. And you just know that whatever feelings you're trying to get across just won't.
Jinx and Ruby are truly two peas in a pod and it's insane to me how similar they are sometimes.
And don't worry if Ruby goes berserk mode you'll be the first person I tell lmao

"Oh, the misery..."
"Everyone wants to be my enemy..."
Is it weird that I celebrate anniversaries of when I first watched/read something (when I started tracking them at least). Yes? Too bad because I want to ramble about Arcane.
365 days ago, today, I watched episode 1 one of Arcane: League of Legends.
Really, just by the luck of a spinning wheel that landed on it as the next thing to watch.
I went in only vaguely knowing it was based on League of Legends (obviously), but I played all of maybe 3 minutes of the game. Otherwise, I didn't have any spoilers, did not know any of the characters. I went in cold.
Here were are a year later.
And I'm still surprised this thing ending up consuming my soul.
So, what do I mean by that?
To put it in measurable terms: On August 29, 2022, I had zero posts/reblogs tagged Arcane. By the end of today, August 29, 2023, I will have 5,893 posts/reblogs tagged with Arcane. This makes it my number THREE most used fandom tag. In a span of one year.
To put that into perspective, the only two tags AHEAD of Arcane are: 2. Fullmetal Alchemist/Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (combined since it's pretty much the same canon. That is the former refers to the manga and not the 03 series) at over 8700 posts/reblogs and 1. Claymore at nearly 13,000 posts/reblogs.
Some more perspective? It overshot the following fandoms: RWBY, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Kill la Kill, and Ghost in the Shell. There are some other fandoms, but I won't mention them as I actively came to dislike them. But the one's I mentioned? Between 4 and 8 years I've been in them.
Arcane overshot all of them all.
Arcane, specifically CaitVi, became the first fandom that isn't Claymore where I commissioned fan art!
I'm actually trying to write a piece using a bit of class analysis and how Arcane demonstrates what normally happens to the "revolution" through Silco (I'm still struggling with if this is even interesting). I've been trying to come up with something to write about Vi or Caitlyn (or even CaitVi) but the great orphanmaker/visupremacy has done a great job covering them.
And what gives me pause the most is... if season 2 comes out in 2024... it's entirely possible that, in 2024, Arcane overtakes Claymore as my used fandom tagged.
Yeah... Vi, Caitlyn, Jinx, Ekko, and that rat-bastard Silco mean a lot to me...

I’m just going to be blunt: Women do being badass different in the absolute best way. Like men are cool and all but there’s nothing better than a woman just absolutely wrecking house like a badass.
This thought brought to you by: Practically all of RWBY’s females (though special mention to Yang who literally has taken giant creatures by their horns and flipped them); Caitlyn, Vi, and Jinx from Arcane; Motoko “Major” Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell franchise; all of the Warrior Nun crew; Buffy; Selene in Underworld; most recently Nik from the Extraction movies; etc. Truly a work of art watching them work (and no this isn’t about appreciating their looks, its a matter of the literally how they do what they do that has a beauty of its own).

introduction
hi! i'm dot, and welcome to my page! my page is peridot themed, but my posts don't have a solid theme. i mostly repost things i find interesting, or post my disorganized thoughts and poetry with the occasional scenic picture (i.e. trees, sunsets, fields, etc.)
as i said before, my interests are what can be expected to be shared on my page, including but not limited to these topics/images below:
shows i enjoy - memes and discussion about shows i'm interested in or enjoy watching, examples include but not limited to steven universe, adventure time, bee and puppycat, orange is the new black, stranger things, helluva boss, rwby, fruits basket, the chilling adventures of sabrina, friends, hazbin hotel, the boondocks, aqua teen hunger force, and sometimes bluey.
elder scrolls series - mostly about elder scrolls v: skyrim and the developments of elder scrolls vi, the beyond skyrim mods, skyblivion, and skywind, however there are a few oblivion posts sprinkled into the category.
retro video games - mostly original playstation and playstation two games since i grew up playing those as a kid. examples include but not limited to spyro: year of the dragon, pac-man world, pac-man world two, darkstone, pokmeon crystal, and others.
pokemon - mostly a fan of the johto region, but have played many of the other games. top two favorite games are most definitely pokemon soulsilver and pokemon crystal.
2000's nostalgia - anything that 2000's babies grew up with or experienced as a whole.
music - i like most kinds of music with a few exceptions, such a screamo. i don't know every genre of music, but a decent bit of them, so this list may expand. my favorites are probably classic rock, grunge, alternative, indie, rap, and metal.
parenting - i have a 3-year-old so there will be some funny moments i post about on here and sometimes the struggles of my journey as a parent. no, i will not be posting pictures of my child.
pets - i have a dog (husky & pit mix), a black cat, and 2 birds, so they might pop up every now and then.
liminal spaces/the backrooms - anything that falls in the category of feeling like the backrooms or a liminal space, places that give off a sense of unease but also calm, i suppose.
analog horror - my favorite type of horror genre, i may talk about upcoming games of this type or games that i've found of it.
poetry and literature - i tend to repost quotes or poems i find to be interesting or endearing. i'm also working on a book series from the point of view of an altmer-bosmer woman in the elder scrolls universe named willow titled "lost faith", so i may ask questions relating to it or post about it's developments.
pride - as a member of the lgbtq+ community who identifies as genderfluid, pansexual, and demisexual, i sometimes post the struggles about accepting and finding my own identity.
the struggles of adult adhd - i was diagnosed as a child, and still struggle with it today so some jokes and/or genuine posts about it.
nature - rarely, i post nice pictures i take of plants or scenic views and i find more rural areas to be a lot more comforting, so i talk about that sometimes.
i don't have many rules on this page other than to not be prejudice towards other people.
possible triggers when browsing this blog can be found below
note: if i missed any, please let me know. i'm very new to this and not very good at it.
TW:
swearing, a lot of it
talks of mental health struggles
talks of violence in video games
posts and reposts with literature that can be disheartening or sad
resposts of surreal and liminal photography

...you know what no imma tag in and pop the actual fuck off.
Ok so since I'm one of the few people who have actually watched arcane AND rwby it's time I act like I got the biggest balls.
Jayce from the jump of arcane represents our POV for piltover meanwhile Vi and Jinx exist to be our POV for the Under city/Zaune however each character isn't JUST our POV they have their own stories.
Jayce's story is about ambition and the price of it, he's not the main guy hes not in charge there are people far, far ahead of him.
Meanwhile Vi's story is about saving her sister and also fighting the injustices that come to the under city due to both piltovers arrogance and silcos cunning and cruelty.
Jinx's story is about the effects of trauma specifically accidentally killing your father and your sister hitting you and Calling you the ONE THING she said you weren't before seemingly walking out on you, abandoning you at your lowest.
Compare that to Jaune (dear god this is gonna hurt me a lot due to my obvious love for Jaune but it's gotta be said)
Jaune... Is a side character. Atleast that's what he most likely was supposed to be, but surprise rt just can't write so who do they throw in every scene to hide their incompetence instead of just admitting that they can't write but I wanting to improve? Jaune fuckin arc.
(warning this next part is heavily opinionated and is the ramblings of someone who likes jaune) Yet somehow some fuckin way people still like this man because guess what he's actually a likable character and not a self insert like piss baby's who just have a hate boner for miles claim. Jaune as a character is a actually good character the problem is the fact is that the show is named RWBY. so thus hence you assume it mainly be about team RWBY not team Rwby and some other guys who are tagging along. (Ok rant's over very sorry everyone)
If anyone wants to talk shit about jayce sit yo ass down and look at arcane at a deeper level because not only can arcane write GOOD WOMEN but also GOOD MEN. Instead of hiding their incompetence by throwing in a character to use as a fuckin scapegoat for the fans to hate...
Ok.. I'm done, I'm fuckin tired and my blood about to boil over the more I write this.
Good fuckin night.
We're RWBY fans. Of course we need to drag in other fandoms needlessly to say how superior we are.
