Madhubanti's voice is so so so rich ughhhh#for how Shreya made it onto the album tho i feel like musically she has the weakest song. i don't know about lyrically i'll have to see#if it comes with subs once the series drops so i know what she's talking about but idk. Chaudhavi Shab is missing something#Sakal Ban is still the best song from the entire thing imo. idk how he planned to beat that when he dropped it as a pre-release single#it's been stuck in my head ever since. there's no getting rid of that he has me singing Hindi in my sleep#curious to see what songs on this are paired with which women in the series bc that will blow open a whole new can of worms

#thinking about Taylor’s particular brand of greatness#and how it is the mark of so many of my very favorite most enduring artists#which is: speaking the language of the common people but just a little bit above their heads#so she scoops them up in her hand and lifts them up#without them even knowing that it’s happening#this is why (imo!!!!!!) she is still one of the most underrated artists we have today#because all the success and all the numbers and all the crowds—that’s not proper critical estimation/conversation#that is just the common people responding because dat’s what they DO#it’s like Mindy Kaling commenting on the magic of the eras tour being the way every single person in attendance#(or so it seemed) knew every word to every song#like they’re just vibing because they KNOW#and as NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE SAID IN THE SCARLET LETTER#when a crowd judges not with its mind but with ITS GREAT BEATING HEART#it generally judges without error#and with artists like that estimation comes with TIME#and that’s what I think is going on with Taylor#I think anyway. I <333 I knew about her longer than I've heard a song from her but I think my first real song from Hatsune Miku was Cendrillon. I've been listening to Vocaloid since 2010-ish so she holds a very special place in my heart. <3 I'm glad she's technically "mainstream" now, with PJSK popping off and all.

in sickness and in flames by the front bottoms is such an interesting follow up to their self titled album because its clearly meant to tie back and be kind of a callback/spirtual successor to that album and they really function as first younger and then older perspective on the same situation like... first you're 20 and you're casanova and you just can't turn the charm on but you know these women and they're just gonna make you even if you don't want to and then all of a sudden you dont know how you got here but you're in your 30s and you feel anxious and backed into a corner and you know have to make a move even though you don't want to. like everything you were afraid of happening came true and you really do have an aching you have to deal with for the rest of your life. so crazy everyone stream the is&if visual album
#its just so interesting when self titled is very like. blatantly meant to have a narrative about being closeted and unsure how to deal with#it which sounds invasive to say and i dont mean it that way but that is like. textually what several of the songs on that album are about#so idk its just a really interesting narrative that i feel like is overlooked in a lot of analysis of their work#also self titled and isif are the most underrated albums generally of theirs imo LOL
